"Yeah, I'm fine," I reply.

"Sorry for making you worry like that. Right now I'm at Charlotte's place, I'm pretty sure that she's going to go hunting for that Noelle chick once she's back on her feet."
"...oh," Theresa mumbles. "Does Allison know where you are?"

She has a control branch so that makes her much less of a liability than the rest of our friends.

"Yeah," I say, "I don't want to stress her out any more than she already has been, especially after what happened to her last night."
"Huh? Allison didn't get caught up in this too, did she?"

Crap, I completely forgot to tell her about that...

"WHAT!?" Theresa gasps. "S- she didn't get hurt, did she!?"

Sent trails. If a vampire can smell blood, they could probably smell her and where she goes. That got get a dog to do it. You don't need to see her to do that and it lasts long after she's gone.

Strange, you're usually one to read the ask.fm / tumblr religiously.

Straight from the pastebin
>>41146929
http://pastebin.com/CSjTY8jV
Straight from arch, under the entry "Blind Spot"

Should be noted that cameras retroactively see her, but only when her ability is inactive.
>>
>>41146960
I don't have a god like memory recall. So then when she turns her power off, the sense turns back up for others to smell it. It still works, you just need to wait her out.
>>
>>41147043
Well that might work if you knew who you were after...

and what they smelled like...

and where they are...
>>
>>41147090
That and the branch pinging on each other when they get into range. It could be done. It would not be easy, but it's possible. And still, I don't want to risk it.
>>
>>41147043
Not 100% sure on that. I know that cameras recording her walking in front of them have no immediate feedback, but will show her in the frame after she has uncloaked. This is a photograph which is recording a single instant in time.

I'm unsure if this differs from her scent remaining in the air after she has cloaked, but is unnoticeable until she comes out. I had the understanding that the photograph trick worked because you technically always had her in the shot, but you couldn't see her until she uncloaked. On the other hand, her scent is impercievable to the world over the duration, which leads me to believe that she simply does not leave a lasting scent while moving.
Why would she happen to leave a smell after the fact if she doesn't also appear to leave an afterimage (or sounds)?
>>
>>41145146
Over-chan's warming up to our waifu. I'm not sure if this is a good thing.
>>
>>41147138
There is no synapse when Theresa's cloaked.
>>
>>41147182
I think it is a massively wide psy field effect that makes your brain not noticing her. Even though she is there. When she does turn it off, your brain clicks on and registers it. I think she does leave a sent, you just can't smell it until she turns her power off. just the same as her image. It also helps if the vampire knows about that branch and it's powers before hand.

"I- It's not that big a deal," Theresa stammers. "So where should we meet up? Same place as before?"
"Actually, Charlotte's kind of recovering from overdoing it with her branch at the moment, so would you mind meeting us here at the hotel? Then we can work out to do from there."
".........you want me to come to her hotel room?"

Theresa sounds REALLY uneasy about that.

"I know it's out of the way, but it's kind of the easiest place for you to meet up with us," I reply.

"Charlotte?" I call out as I walk back into the living room. "How are you holding up?"
"Mmmm..." Charlotte groans. "...little better, tryin' to get used to so many eyes."

She really doesn't sound like herself.

"You're not still feeling dizzy, are you?" I ask.
"Uh-uh," she replies. "no more vertigo."

"Yeah," I nod.
"Huh, I didn't know she had a Control Branch," she mumbles to herself.

I really hope that things don't get to awkward when Theresa actually gets here.

"...you -are- okay with her coming here, right?" I ask Charlotte. "I forgot that this isn't actually my place so I didn't ask you first..."

Nope, not awkward at all.

Since I'm still worried about Charlotte, I walk over to the couch and take a seat next to her so as to keep a closer watch over her.

"Don't worry," I say taking her hand, "Theresa's my friend and I'm sure she won't do anything to pick a fight with you."
"......" Charlotte squeezes my hand. "...sorry, I know this isn't the time for me to be jealous."

it is not

not that it would stand a chance if you had better taste in mates

>[1/?]
>>
>>41149903

I sit with Charlotte on the couch for a little while, holding her hand and patting her back and doing whatever else I can think of to try and pull her back to her usual energetic self. It's slow going at first, but she gradually seems to be getting more and more coherent.

"Think I can stand now," Charlotte says.
"You sure?" I ask. "I'll try to prop you up if you fall, but..."

I don't want to say outright that she's heavy, but she IS heavy.

"Yeah, I have my balance mostly back," Charlotte says, letting go of my hand and pushing herself up from the couch. "See, I'm not wobbly a-"

I leap up from the couch to keep her from falling over.

it is as foolish as you

>[2/?]
>>
>>41150132
>[3/3]

After I help her regain her balance, Charlotte slowly makes her way to the kitchen and picks up her phone from the counter where she left it. Though she's finally stopped wobbling around, it does seem like she's having some trouble concentrating on what's on her phone.

But at least she's able to stand on her own again.

BZZZZT BZZZZT BZZZZZT

"Wha?" Charlotte stares at her phone. "It's not mine, is it?"
"No," I shake my head, "it's my phone that's going off."
"Thank goodness, I was really confused there for a second."

Looks like it's a text from Theresa...

"I'm here in the hotel, what floor is the room?" it reads.

...oh yeah, you need a keycard for the elevator to even reach this floor.

"Hm?" She looks up at me. "Where are you going, it's too dangerous for you to be out there by yourself."
"Theresa's downstairs," I reply. "She can't reach this room without someone letting her up though, so I was going to do that."
"Oh," she mumbles. "Okay."

After making sure that Charlotte will be alright by herself (Gabrielle's here but her attention's focused on the TV), I wave goodbye to her and head out into the hallway.

"...should've just had Gabrielle do it instead..." Charlotte mumbles just loud enough for me to hear.

>[1/?]

But now isn't the time to feel guilty about leaving Charlotte, I've been with her literally ALL DAY and she can fend for herself for the five minutes that it'll take to do this. And so, I press the button for the elevator nad bring out my phone.

Doesn't Shary have the ability to get the title of branches of people she meets, e.g. "The sun that shines its light on all things" or "that which communes with the lesser" or, say, "that which does not exist"
Because Gabby should notice that Kaito and Theresa have the same branch.

The second that I step out into the first-floor lobby of the hotel, I get a splitting headache like a drill piercing right into my skull. It's so strong that I actually have to take a few seconds to lean on a wall so I can regain my composure.

"Hey," a voice calls out to me as I feel a tap on my shoulder.
"Wha?" I turn around and of course it's Theresa. "Oh, hey. You didn't have trouble getting here, did you?"
"No," she shakes her head. "Didn't see anything weird on the way, either."
"That's good," I say, breathing a sigh of relief.

Looks like Theresa's carrying one of those bags like what people bring with them to the gym... that must be her costume. I guess it makes sense that she wouldn't actually wear it here, considering that Gabrielle's upstairs and would probably start fangirling all over her the second she saw her mysterious savior.

"Charlotte's place is on the top floor," I say to Theresa, "but you need a card key to get up there so that's why I came to get you,"

"Because she's crushing on you?" I ask.
"Please stop," she groans.

I've really missed being able to mess with Theresa like this.

Spaghetti is not in the reveal.
Spaghetti is going to further and further extremes to avoid the reveal.
Spaghetti is being caught in an endless series of harder and harder trials, to preserve an optional conduct.
Spaghetti is being caught in a prison of suffering, of your own making.
Spaghetti is shooting yourself in the foot, then the inner thigh, then the abdomen, and then the heart, to stop someone from finding out about the time you shot yourself in the little toe.
Spaghetti is in worrying about other people's reactions, not in when other people react.

>>
>>41150745

To add further:

Spaghetti is when so many people are running so many avoidance-strategies, that they end up relying on each-other and getting tangled in each other.

And then all you need is 1 loose spaghetti strand, and the entire tapestry comes unwoven.
We are unfortunately not at that point yet in FDQ. Thus far, all the spaghetti is its own independent plot point.
>>

Off the top of my head, there have been eight lesbian/bi female characters and seven straight ones.

Not to say that this isn't a field of lilies, but it's not as huge a difference as one might think.

"Well," I shrug, "I just happen to know someone and she's single, really pretty and super nice to boot."
"........." Theresa stares at me with her mouth agape. "You're seriously trying to set me up?"
"Maybe?"
"Oh GOD," she groans.

Irene said that she was up for it so I might as well try to set them up together. I can't say that I don't have an ulterior motive myself, but it still counts as trying to make two of my friends happy.

...with each other.

"After this is over," I say, "I can always try and get a hold of her so that you two can maybe spend some time together..."

C'mon, take the bait. You two would be adorable together.

"Christ," Theresa groans, "why are you bringing this up NOW?"
"Because -she- agreed to it yesterday and this is the first opportunity that I've gotten to actually talk to -you- about it," I reply. "So what do you say?"

pathetic

you are pathetic

and have horrible taste

Shut up.

"Dammit Cecile, why do you have to spring this on me NOW of all times?" Theresa asks.
"I already told you why," I reply. "Now what do you say? I'm not asking you to commit to anything, just meet her."
"......"

Clearly I am going to have to sweeten this deal.

"She's got a really nice rack, too..." I say in a hushed tone.

She is going to hook up with a boy we won't meet in this quest because she's too young for that sort of business.

>15-20 years from now she is the ice cold CEO of her father's company
>Frigid bitch that doesn't let anyone other then her family close to her
>Young intern eventually manages to wheedle his way into her frozen heart
>A delicious mix of haughty ara-ara and innocent christmas cake ensues
>>

Nah Gabby's going to become a man eater.

How literal that is, I'll leave to you.
>>
Fuck arch... I love all your threads but hate your run times, The rest of y'all have fun but i'm passing out.

"Oh GOD, Cecile!" Theresa stammers, pushing her away from me. "Fine, I'll meet her or whatever, okay? Just cut it out already, you're being creepy as hell!"
"Haha, alright!" I cheer. "You won't regret this!"
"So stupid..." she mutters under her breath. "Now how about we head upstairs and start figuring out how we're gonna deal with the actual LIFETHREATENING ISSUE that you've got hanging over your head?"

you are an idiot

"Sorry. You're right, we should probably get back to business."
"Yeah, we really should," she replies.

At least I managed to make myself forget that someone's trying to kill me for a few minutes...

BZZZT BZZZT BZZZT

Go figure, someone decides to call me just as I start for the elevator. Checking the screen, I see that it's...

"...Marcus...?" I say out loud.

That's weird, he never calls me.

"What about him?" Theresa asks.
"One minute," I reply, "he's the one calling me."

I wonder what he wants.

"Hello?"
"Hey, CC?" Marcus calls out. "That's you, right?"
"Yeah," I reply. "What's up?"
"Was Mina at school today?" he asks. "I didn't see her this morning and we got one of those automated 'your kid skipped class' calls so I was wondering if she was with you or something."
"Umm, I actually kind of skipped school myself today..."
"Go figure," he groans.
"But Theresa did go, just give me a minute and I'll ask her."
"Thanks."

It's probably nothing...

"Hey Theresa," I ask, turning to her, "did you see Mina at school today?"
"No," Theresa replies, shaking her head. "Up until I got that text from you, I thought that you two decided to play hooky together."
"Great," I mumble.

Looks like we're not getting any help there...

"Sorry," I say, returning to my phonecall, "Theresa says that Mina wasn't in class."
"Dammit," he groans. "I caught the message on the answering machine before our parents could, but if she ain't with you two then where -could- she be?"
"You tried calling her?" I ask.
"Yeah," he replies, "but her phone must've died. She's not picking up."

That gnawing crappy feeling that I've had since last night's starting to well up in my stomach.

>[5/5]

"I'll, uh..." I take a few moments to think of what to say, "...I'll give you a call when I see her, okay?"
"That'd be appreciated," Marcus replies. "I erased the message but I'd still like to know why the hell she skipped school," he says. "If she ain't with you then she might be with a boy, and..." he trails off.
"I'm pretty sure it's not that," I reply. "Umm, I'll get back to you later, okay?"
"Yeah, thanks. Stay safe, CC."

I can't really promise that.

"Cecile, what's going on with Mina?" Theresa asks.
"Dunno," I reply. "But if she's not at home and she didn't go to school, I can think of one other place where she might be."

AFter pulling up Sun-Mi's number, I hit send and wait for her to pick up. I have to say, I never thought that I'd actually be -hoping- that Mina lost track of time while fooling around with her girlfriend...

"Hey Cecile!" Sun-mi's cheerful voice rings out. "How's it going?"
"More or less alright," I lie. "Mina wouldn't happen to be with you right now, would she?"
"No, I haven't talked to her since yesterday afternoon," she replies. "There was supposed to be a boss raid tonight though so I was going to call her soonish... why, was there something going on?"

>how do I respond?

"Well then I hope whatever your Branch is its effective against Vampires.."
tell her that Mina is missing and that a hostile Branch user with Blood Witch is targeting us and those close to us
>>

>She wasn't at school, nobody can get reach her, there's some crazy hostile bitch with an OP branch in the city

Well she seems to have disappeared, and not in a branch power kind of way. Also, there's the mind controller girl running around the city, so everyone's tense about these things...
>>
>>41151770
Mina didn't show up for school either, and she's not picking up her phone. I think we should meet up at Charlotte's place.
