I'd rather we didn't include anybody that only appeared outside the main threads if possible. There's enough characters just going by the main threads. And the write-up boom that happened since the last pic, and some authors might end up feeling left out if it turns out there's not enough room for their characters along with everyone else. And it would crowd it with people most of the fandom doesn't even recognize, and would steal space from their favorite characters. This, of course, includes me, as nobody from my stuff has actually appeared in the main thread in anything more significant than a namedrop.

I had a better argument than this prepared, but I lost it somewhere. Anyway just do what you yourself want to do. If you want to go through the extra effort of including write-up characters, that's fine, too.

I was going to basically sit this out, but I feel this point deserves clarity at least - Malal didn't WANT to be canon again (because it requires adhering to an ever-shifting set of facts and it was making it hard for him to tell the story he wanted to tell) and he felt like he was being forced into it all of a sudden. The whole kerfuffle freaked him out so bad he just decided not to go back, because conflict isn't something he handles well.

The rest came about mostly because there were something like fifteen writers with almost no supervision doing whatever they wanted, nobody was being informed as to what was going on, there were basically entirely different factions completely out of touch with one another, and we just needed to do some sweeping organization so the setting didn't turn into a complete clusterfuck.
