When planet Coral deteriorated beyond any hope of terraformation, the Pioneer project was put in place to evacuate the families of the wealthiest, most influential, and most intelligent in an attempt to find a new homeworld.

Pioneer I was sent to Ragol to begin colonizing. Ragol is a yellow star with an inner asteroid belt, a habitable planet (Ragol/Ragol I), an ice planet (Ragol II), and a dark matter belt.

Pioneer I, the first ship of its kind, landed on Ragol and began construction.

Pioneer II arrived seven years later. Upon orbit above the Central Dome of the colony, Pioneer II opened up channels to receive, but was interrupted by an explosion from just outside the Central Dome. The explosion shook the entire planet. All communcation was cut off. Strangely enough, infrastructure damage seemed to be nonexistent.

You are Pheonixia, a female newman and a Hunter's Guild certified Force. You have gained clout with Principal Tyrell after a lucky acquisition of “Red Ring” Rico Tyrell's log. Tyrell, the autocratic leader of Pioneer 2 and Rico's father, has put you on an off-the-books search and rescue mission for Rico.

You have fought your way through the forests of Ragol, slayed a dragon, reclaimed Pioneer I's Central Dome, and discovered the long dead Palman civilization through an ancient artifact, the Elsydeon. With a shard of the once great sword, you are given visions of heroes of the past. The ghosts of Elsydeon warn of Mother Brain, a system of climate control AI responsible for turning the barren Motavia (Ragol) into a green planet filled with often hostile life.

Boarding an ancient satellite in orbit around Ragol revealed two functioning androids. They detail a threat to the Ragol system. “Profound Darkness” is due for another millenial disaster, and you have already discovered its "Dark Energy Wave" emitting from the Central Dome.
>>
Wren, the android accompanying you from the climate satellite Zelan to Pioneer II, presented his findings on the Pioneer I explosion. The images revealed a "Dark Force" at the epicenter of the mysterious explosion.

You were dismissed by Tyrell, and took the opportunity to explore the ancient climate satellite, Kuran, in orbit around Ragol II (Dezolis in the ancient language.) There, you gathered data on the climate of the ice planet and returned to Pioneer II. The principal's office is not taking visitors, not even you. A visit to Zelan reveals that the military has taken over operations.

Last Time:

You decide to check on Wren. It seems the Principal's office isn't taking any visitors...strange.

Wren doesn't have a guild card or a MAG, so mail is not an option. You recall recommending Zelan for research, so you figure he must have been sent there.

You decide to head over to the satellite after stopping for lunch in the Hunter's Guild. You notice the odd stares you get as you walk into the guild hall. People seem to whisper when you're around. About what, you're not sure.

After lunch, you head toward the shuttle. Your MAG informs you of a guild mail as your shuttle departs.

“Hey Pheonie, it's Ash. I haven't seen you around in a bit. Nela asked me about you, but I told her I haven't heard from you in a bit. We all took that last fight pretty hard, especially after what happened to Elenor.”

“There's rumors going around about you leaving the Hunter's Guild. I didn't believe them, but a lot of people are talking about you and that dragon. Nela, Maia, and have run a couple missions already, but I think I'm just your stand in as far as they're concerned.”

“I'm sure your busy with some odd job or another. Next time you take a commission, be sure to invite me! TTYL. -Ash”

You had completely forgotten about the dragon. It's been over a week since that happened. No update from the lab either. But first things first, you have to check up on Wren.

You exit the shuttle and are greeted by armed guards. Demi and Wren are no where in sight.

“I want to speak to Principal Tyrell right now!”

The two guards, armed with what looks to be carbines, glance at each other quickly. One of them rolls their eyes. “We will be sure to send him notice.”

You are escorted to a room with a table and a couple chairs. They didn't think to take your wand. It seems forces are not as threatening as you thought.

A single soldier enters the room after making you wait two hours. You have since grown quite irrate. “I'm going to have to ask you a few questions. To start, how did you know about this facility?”

“I found this place! Who do you think told Tyrell about it?”

“I see...” He writes something on his tablet.

“Does Tyrell know I'm here?”

The soldier answers without looking up from his tablet. “He receives regular updates from us. Rest assured, he will be apprised of the situation. Now, why did you come here?”

Several hours pass. At one point the door cracks open and a small bucket is thrown in. Upon closer inspection, there is a nutrition bar taped inside. Enough to satisfy a person's caloric needs for a day, given a low level of activity. You doubt that door will open up again for quite a while.

You sit on the floor, crossing your legs and closing your eyes. Arcowynn gives off a faint hum and glow, triggering a wave of calm to wash over you.

Arco gives a couple beeps in front of you to get your attention. It flashes visions of a disconnection signal. Wynn floats over to the door and flashes you a vision of an eyeball with prohibition sign over it. From what you can gather, you are not being watched, by friend or foe. You're cut off from the rest of the system.

Another flash from ArcoWynn sends you back into orbit around old Motavia.

“And I'm about ready to use unrestrained force to fix it, yes. Why am I back here again?”

Rudo smiles. “Because you have now officially joined the fight, and we thought you could use some help. Whoever these guys are, they are not to be trusted. They could be under the orders of Mother Brain. Or worse, the Earthlings.”

“Who?”

“Don't worry about it now. I remember hearing about Demi and Wren from the generation after mine. You'll want their help. They fought Dark Force, like we did on Noah.”

Hugh interrupts, “But until you get their help, you'll have to be sure to be prepared. You have more talent than you realize. If you learn how to expand the applications of your techniques, you'll stand a better chance.”

You feel like you understand, but still want clarification. “What do you mean, 'expand the application?'”

“Your abilities are focused on single combat, depending on a group dynamic that you don't have right now. You're about to go up against an army by yourself. Find a way to fight them on your own. Demi and Wren need you.”

You awaken from your trance. Your MAG informs you that it is 150 beats on the Pioneer II clock. Roughly 3:30 AM on a planetary clock. You've been in the Elsydeon for half a day now. You r stomach grumbles.

You jump to your feet and rip open the nutrient bar's packaging. It's gone within ten seconds. You're not hungry anymore, but you're still angry. The clarity that your time in the sword gave you gives you sudden inspiration.

You begin by casting zonde repeated at the table with low current. You can safely push it out from your wand now. The next hour is spent repeatedly forcing Photon-generated electricity from the wand into the table in increasing currents and areas. Finally, one of your technique castings jumps from the table, spreading across the walls of the room. Electricity surges and arcs through the walls around you. The sense of control you fell empowers you.

That's enough practice for now. You feel ready for whatever WORKS is about to throw at you.

A few hours later, the same soldier from yesterday enters the room. “Good morning, Miss Pheonixia.”

“I don't recall giving my name to you.”

“We have our sources. It seems it's been a while since anyone at the Hunter's Guild has heard from you.” The man sits down across from you, tablet in hand.

“Why am I not talking to Principal Tyrell?”

“The Principal is a busy man. For now, why don't you talk to me? Tell me, what do you know of these androids?” He turns the tablet to you. Pictures of Demi and Wren appear on screen. Wren is on a table, much like Elenor was, with his chest cavity exposed. Demi is bound and looks to be unconscious.

You say nothing.

“If that is the way you wish to behave, Miss Pheonixia, then we will simply have to transfer you to another room to speak to one of my associates.

You refuse to say another word.

The man clears his throat. Two soldiers armed with carbines enter the room. “As I feared. You'll have to come with us.”

You bide your time as your interrogator drags you by your arm out the door. You make a careful note of each soldier you pass by. Most are simply walking past the four of you. You count twenty six before the man dragging you through the halls comes to a stop. He presses a few buttons on a panel. A short alarm sounds, and the door opens slowly. The room is smaller, and barren, but has a window with view to space.

“Please step inside, Miss Pheonixia.” The man gestures into the room.

“Idiot.”

Your wand springs forth from your frame into your hand. Within seconds, electricity floods the room. The three men drop, but one of the soldiers' hands clenches aroudn the trigger, letting off shots into the walls. You duck to avoid the ricochet. You doubt that went unnoticed.

Well… if it worked once…

You wait behind the corner. In less than a minute, two men run down the hall.”What happened to these guys?”

“It's that fucking intruder they caught the other day. Smith was in charge of her. Where the hell did she go?”

You smile and raise your wand. “Behind you. Gizonde!” Sparks fill the room and the two men drop. Demi and Wren still need your help. Time to track them down.

You doubt you'll be able to do anything for Demi right now. The least you can do is try to use the situation to your advantage. You grab your wand and prepare to open the door, but then, you notice the panel next to the door.

A couple minutes of poking around in the computer controls reveals a highly decentralized control structure. This facility was designed to be able to be controlled from any room… Palman IT practices must have been atrocious.

You still struggle finding the different parts of the systems, but you manage to find a station defense system. You won't be able to modify friend-foe AI properly, but you can at least distract WORKS.

The halls of Zelan explode in gunfire. You question your judgment when you see a swarm of floating machines out the window toss small explosives at a few soldiers. The system indicates ten command balls on hand to terminate any unauthorized personnel.

After you are confident that the hall is clear, you make a run for the next room. You find Wren on a table with his chest cavity exposed. There are various components strewn about. Many of them you recognize when Wren disarmed himself.

You are incredibly out of your depth. You like your chances with Demi better, so you head back that way. A command ball spots you as you enter the room. You lock the door behind you and scramble to Demi.

The organization of Cast components are completely different than Palman androids. The focus seems to be at creating the appearance of a human, but not even close to the function. Something of an inverse to casts.

You follow the seems in her armor and find a way to open her chest cavity (after removing her clothes.) You see her internal components, a mess of different modules. It takes five minutes in your frenzied state, but you think you found the problem. Plasma singeing around what you assume to be a photon core. It should only need a small jump before the core can take back over...you hope.

You send a small jolt of electricity into the Photon core. The core glows and the chest closes back up. “Oh. Pheonixia! It's so good to see you. I just wish it were under better circumstances.” She notices her nudity, and covers her chest. “Oh, my! This is embarrassing!” She quickly dresses herself.

“I'm aware of the problem. We need to help Wren!”

“Understood.” Demi bows. “Lead the way.”

You turn around to leave the room. You find the door open and a command ball aiming a small cannon at you. You see a muzzle flash, and everything goes dark.
