Greetings, inspired by the Fire Emblem Quests currently running, I decided to make a quest of my own. This is my first quest so please forgive me if I make dumb mistakes, and feedbacks are welcome.

The story will take place in the continent of Sennar, where 5 major countries rule the continent. You are a young man of 17, reside in a nameless village of the biggest country of the continent, Asier.

Now, I'll ask you a series of questions. Five to be exact. First what is your name?
>Ale (pronounced: Ah-leh)
>Other

The next 4 questions will determine your starting stats and affinity. Should I post one question at a time or dump them all into the next post?
>>
>>41291204
Gale
>>
I would go for Oscar but its already taken
>Jack
>Travis
>Hector
>Ron

Like all of those names

Also I would post all at the same time but who knows how popular this quest gets (might surpass mine)

Okay, that's it for the questions. You'll get to know your stats later, but for now just know that your affinity is Dark.

"Hope you don't come to regret your choices here. See you soon."

You suddenly woke up and found yourself by a riverside. Seems like you were fishing to pass the time but ended up falling asleep. You let out a huge yawn and outstretched your arms into the sky. You shook your head left and right, and even give yourself some slaps to make sure you’re fully awake after the long nap. You don’t know how many hours have passed, but the sky has already begun to turn red, signifying that the day is ending.

Continue in next post.

“Took you long enough to wake up, you sleepy head.” A girl’s voice came from the right, it sounds somewhat annoyed. You looked to the right and see it was Scarlett, the best friend you’ve known since childhood.

“Do you have any idea how long I’ve sit here waiting for you to wake up?” She gave a slap to the back of your head. “It’s getting late, we should head home already.” She said while brushing up her long beautiful crimson hair that’s tied up into a girlish twin-tails.

She then stood up and brushed the dirt off her clothes, and then walked over to the fishing pole and picked it up. “You’ve been here all day and you didn’t manage to catch a single fish? That’s kinda pathetic, you know?” She sneers at you. Despite her mocking tone, you know she meant no harm and was just being playful. She then walked back to you and extended your hand towards you. “Get up already. You want me to piggyback you or what?”

Your respond?
>Take her hand.
>Stand up on your own.
>Actually, being piggybacked doesn’t sound so bad.
>>
>>41291986
>Stand up on your own.
>>
>>41292353
You appreciated Scarlett’s kind gesture, but stood up on your own. She looked somewhat disagreed with your decision to do so though.

“Here.” Scarlett gave the fishing pole to you and you took it, not forgetting to thank her. She flicked a finger onto your forehead as respond to that thank you though.

Afterward, Scarlett walked over to a tree nearby and picked up something. It was her hunting bow and arrows, along with her spoils of the day, three tied up rabbits. She quickly equipped her hunting gear and then held up the rabbits towards you, with a smirk on her face. “Fortunately, my out-of-this-world archery skill managed to score these deliciously cute rabbits. Otherwise our family would be starved to death tonight, thanks to you.”

It seems like Scarlett wanted you to praise her or something. What should you do?
>Praise her.
>Pet her.
>This is stupid. Ignore her and head home.
>>
>>41292686
>>Praise her.
>Youre still far from good, dont get cocky just because of it
>>
>>41292721
>Youre still far from good, dont get cocky just because of it

“Heh, you’re just jealous because you can’t be as good as me.” She smirked.

You and Scarlett then chatted a little, but then something caught your attention. You saw something flowing down the stream, hanging on a small log. You squinted and tried to take a better look at it. It was something, no, someone clad in a red armor.

“A knight?” Scarlett said, and quickly ran over to the knight. “Hey, Travis. Help me get this guy up to the ground. He’ll drown if we don’t.”
>Help the knight.
>Looks dangerous, let’s ignore the knight.
>>
>>41292867
>>Help the knight.
>>
>Help the knight.
>>
>>41292912
>>41292932
You immediately ran over. Due to the heavy armor and the water, you and Scarlett struggle to get the knight to the ground, but somehow you two made it.

Now that you’re close to the knight, you could take a better look at him. He has brown hair and looks like he’s in his late 40. The armor that you thought was red was actually silver-ish, the red on it was the probably blood, either of the knight himself or of someone else, you assumed. You can see that there’s a sword by his side, but he’s also holding another weapon in his hand. It was…
>Another sword
>A spear.
>An axe.
>>
>>41293044
>>An axe.
>>
>>41293044
>A spear.
All Knights need to have Lances. It's in their job description or something.

>>41293257
No one want a sword?
>>
>>41293044
>An axe.
>>
>>41293422
To be honest, why would a knight be carrying a second sword? I understand trying to give us a new sword, but there are other ways of getting us a new sword. We'll get a good one later, if needed.
>>
>>41293257
The knight was holding a spear. You don’t know whether it’s because you’ve never seen a spear before in your life, but you thought the spear really beautiful and elegant one.

“What are you standing there looking dumb for?” Scarlett yelled at you. “We need to remove this guy’s armor and tend to his wound fast.”

You quickly did as Scarlett’s instructed. The armor again proved to be a big pain in the ass, but you somehow managed to remove it after much trouble. Fortunately, Scarlett had some vulnenaries with her as part of her hunting gear. The knight suffered many wounds, but luckily none are fatal. He’ll be fine as long as he get some fine rest, you think.

“Okay, his condition will worsen if we just let him lie around in the open like this. Let’s carry him home.” Scarlett said and carried the knight onto her shoulder. The knight seems to be too heavy for her to cary alone.
>Carry the knight for her.
>Carry the knight together with her.
>Let her carry the knight alone.

Couldn’t bear seeing Scarlett dragging herself carrying the knight, you took the knight and carried him instead. Unf… May not be a very good idea, even without the armor, the knight is still an unconscious grown man, but eh, you’ll manage somehow.

Almost an hour later, the two of you arrived at the village. The sky has starting to get dark too.

“Eh, what have we here?” An annoying male voice can be heard calling out from tavern from the side. You don’t even have to look to know that voice belongs to none other the village’s infamous trouble maker, Erkan. “Ale and Scarlett? Finally back, eh?” Just as you thought, the man that walked out from the tavern was and stood in your way was none other than Erkan. With the tallest height out of all the villagers, tower head and shoulders above you, Erkan looked down on you and acted all high and mighty. Then he noticed the person you were carrying. “What’s this? Who is this guy here?”
>Told him about the knight.
>Ignore him and continue heading home.

>>41293674

No point in not telling him.

No problem, just part of the learning process. You'll figure out your mistakes one way or another.
>>
>>41293858

Erkan knows we're probably one of the people who can beat him in the village since we're strong as an ox
>>
>>41293894
>>41293910
>>41293945
“Scram, Erkan!” Scarlett stood up to face Erkan. “Don’t act all high and mighty just because you’re a little taller than others.” She then turned to you. “Let’s go, Travis. Let’s not waste our time dealing with buffoons like this guy.”

“Why, you…” Erkan raised his fist, intended to pick a fight Scarlett, but then decided not to. “Hm, whatever. I’ll let you two slide this time, but just this one time, you got that?” Maybe he’s concerned about the unconscious guy on your shoulder, so he decided to let you go this time, what luck, since you know Erkan is not the type to say no to a fight when the opportunity arises.

A little while later, you and Scarlett arrived home. Due to circumstances, you two have been living under the same roof for as long as you could remember.

“Seems like Ma’s not here. What luck, it would be really awkward walking home to Ma with an old guy half dead on our shoulders.” Scarlett said.

You two then returned to your room, and let the knight rest on your bed.

“Now what?” Scarlett asked.
>Eh, nothing we can do now. Let’s see wait until the knight wakes up.
>Let’s find a doctor. Who knows what could have happened to the knight’s head or his internal organs.
>Let’s think about the reason why the knight ended up here.

“Yeah, maybe that’s the best thing to do right now. Not like this guy here’s gonna wake up anytime soon.” Scarlett sighed. She then putted away her bow and arrows in a corner of your room and readied to head out, but then for some reasons, headed back in and took the equipments with her.

You questioned her action, and she replied. “I don’t know. I just feel like taking them with me.”

That sure was helpful…

You two then left the house and headed to the house of the village’s doctor. As you approached close to the doctor’s house, you feel more and more that something wrong is going to happen soon.

“Hey, Travis.” Scarlett suddenly called out for you. “Is it just me or it’s getting a little too noisy?”

Now that she mentioned it… You could hear yelling from outside, lots of yelling, and things falling and breaking. And then you saw soldiers on horses running around the village, breaking into houses.

“FIND HIM! Find him and drag that sorry excuse of a knight here to me!” The one that looks like the leader of the soldiers yelled.

“Dang it! I knew something bad was gonna happen!” Scarlett cursed and took your hand. “Quick run for hiding, Travis!”

Like hell we are going to let an archer fight alone.
>>
>>41294832
As OP can you give a suggestion as to which would be the better idea?
Kinda want her to live, To many childhood friends die early and it's getting stale tbh
>>
>>41294871
Soldiers are attacking your village so you're going to have to fight sooner or later. And I plan to have game mechanics in this Quest, so let's pray that the RNG doesn't hate Scarlett.
>>
>>41294940
We still have that knights spear?
>>
>>41294760
>>41294844
You ignored Scarlett’s warning and ran to take up a pitchfork. Like hell you’re going let these soldiers doing whatever they want with your village.

“Wait, Travis! Goshdangit!”

You took a pitchfork from a nearby house and stood in front of one of the soldier. You yelled at him with everything you got. The soldier didn’t seem fazed though, instead he seems rather amused at your action.

Battle stats (left is ours – right is the enemy)
Travis vs Soldier:
Weapon: Pitchfork – Bronze Lance
HP: 15 - 20
Damage: 4 – 2
Attack Speed: 6 - 1 (Have 4 more speed, can double the enemy)
Avoid: 19 - 2
Hit: 100 – 73
Crit: 2 – 0

Scalett vs Soldier:
Weapon: Bronze arrow – Bronze Lance
HP: 17 – 20
Damage: 8 – 0
Attack Speed: 8 – 1 (Have 4 more speed, can double the enemy)
Avoid: 24 -2
Hit: 100 – 0
Crit: 3

Roll 1d100 for hit rate and 1d100 for crit rate. But since the hit rate for both characters are 100%, you may just want to roll for crit rate instead. I’ll roll for the hit rate for the soldier. Also vote for whom get the honor of the first attack.
>Travis

>>41295163
Do you mean the meaning of the numbers?
>>
>>41295149
I'm assuming Bld is our 'Res'. Correct me if I am wrong, otherwise:
So, we do 3 damage, assuming the enemy is the soldier, 6 if we got enough Spd to double tap him. We might take 3 dmg, but Underdog might give us the edge in avoiding him. Scar gets 7 damage on him, and looks to also be able to double hit him, for potentially 14 dmg.
Add that up, we might just kill a soldier a turn.
This is all assuming it's exactly like FE.
...So, how many enemy soldiers are there?

No, Mag double as Res too. Bld is for capturing enemy, this is one mechanic from Thracia 776. If you have higher Bld than the enemy, than you can capture him after you defeat him (I don't want to use penalties when capturing, because it's too cumbersome). And... I forgot to minus Underdog's bonus to the soldier's hit rate, so that would be 73 - 15 = 58. Anyway, vote for whom take the first attack.

Alright, seems some aren't very familiar with FE, so I'll post the meaning of the stats and numbers too.

HP: The unit's maximum HP. Pretty self explanatory.

Strength: Affects the damage the unit can deal using physical weapons

Magic: Affects the damage the unit can deal with spell tomes and magic weapons and the ability of the unit to use staves, also doubled as Magic Defense.

Skill: Affects the unit's accuracy and critical hit rate.

Speed: Affects the unit's ability to avoid attacks, and to attack twice in one round.

Luck: Affects the unit's ability to avoid attacks and prevent their enemies from getting crits.

Defence: Mitigates damage from physical weapons.

Build: Used to determine whether you can capture the enemy or not.

AS: Attack Speed. Not shown in the stat screen, but there, and very important. Equal to Speed - [Weapon Weight - Strength (value cannot go below 0)]. Used in some other calculations.

Hit: Base accuracy in combat. Equal to [Skill * 2] + Weapon Hit + bonuses.

Crit: Base chance to score a critical hit. Equal to [Skill / 2] + Weapon Crit + bonuses.

Avo: Ability to dodge attacks. Equal to [AS * 2] + Luck + bonuses.

Ddg: Ability to mitigate opponent's crit chance. Equal to Luck + bonuses.

Dmg (Damage): The amount of damage a successful hit inflicts. Your Atk - their Def/Mag (as appropriate).

x2: If your AS exceeds theirs by 4 or more, you can attack a second time following their counterattack. If they can't counter you, you'll just attack twice in a row.

Hit: Percentage chance to hit. Your Hit - their Avo. Capped at 100, obviously.

Crit: Percentage chance to crit for triple damage. Your Crit - their Ddg. Capped at 100.

I stole this from the Path of Radiance LP on the lparchive and modified a little.

>>
>>41295784
For now, just pay attention to HP, damage and hit rate and crite rate would be enough. I'll leave out everything the next time we combat so not to confuse anyone else.
>>
>>41295784
Let me try to simplify it for you then.
Strength + Base Weapon damage - enemy defense = Total damage to enemy.
Double it if our Speed is sufficiently higher.
Everything else just determines if we hit or don't.
Same applies back to us.
Am I clearing it up a bit, Anon?
>>41295816
Just make sure the info is available to us, okay?

With the pitchfork in hands, you firmly stood your ground against the soldier. Now what though, you thought. You just picked the pitchfork up on the whim since you couldn’t stand the soldiers, but it’s not like you’re a fighter or anything. Rushing in without thinking would be dangerous…

“What, are you scared, kid?” The soldier mocked you. “This. Is. How you handle a weapon!” The soldier rushed at you, aiming the lance at your chest.

Then, from behind you, an arrow came flying forward, hitting the soldier in the chest.

“Uwahh…” The soldier took a step back from being hit by the arrow. Then another arrow came flying straight at him. “Gah!” The soldier roared in pain.

You looked behind you, and saw it was Scarlett who shot the arrows. You then turned back to the soldier. With the 2 arrows stuck on his chest like that, he’ll probably think twice about attacking you, but there’s a possibility that he would be so angered that he’ll jump at you for revenge. You can let him go now, or take this chance to finish him off.

You pulled the pitchfork out of the soldier’s corpse, turned and fled the scene as fast as your legs allowed.

Scarlett fled into a building nearby, and you quickly followed her. Once inside, both of you went hiding under one of the tables.

“Wait…” Scarlett noticed something. “This is the tavern…”

Somebody pulled the two of you out of the table before Scarlett even get to finish what she was going to say, it was Erkan.

“What the hell was that? WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT?!” Erkan yelled at the two of you. “Do you two realize what you just did?! You just freakin’ killed a soldier out there!”

“Wait, calm down, Erkan!” Scarlett tried to calm Erkan down. “That was just the spur of the moment. We didn’t really want to do it!”

“Calm down? How can I calm down?!” Erkan yelled. “Now they’ll murder us all, thanks to you two stupid fools!”
>Stay silent.
>”Maybe if we surrender now and ask the soldier’s their demands, they’ll forgive us.”
>”Look at what they did. They were attacking our village, they’ll kill us all if we don’t anything.”

"We have someone they want dead hidden away in this village, and I am not going to let them tear it apart just to kill one damn man. I am also not letting them have him. Now, help us out, or get out of here. We could use your help, though. Every bit counts."

“Grr…” Erkan frowned. He disagreed with what you did, but he knows that you are right about those soldiers. He then let go of you and Scarlett. “But they are trained soldiers and we’re just ordinary peasants. What can we do?”

“…” Scarlett stayed silent, and looked out of the tavern’s window. “Hey, guys. Look over there.”

“Don’t change the subject, Scarlett. It’s not going to save you neck when the soldiers come in here.” Erkan said. “Say, why haven’t they come barging in here already? They were just right behind you when you were outside.”

Now that he mention it…

“That’s why I told you to look outside the window, brickhead.” Scarlett pointed to the window.

You and Erkan looked outside the window, following the direction Scarlett pointed. You saw the knight you rescued earlier is now outside, and he’s surrounded by the soldiers. Looks like he was conversing with the leader of them. The leader doesn’t look too happy conversing with the knight though.

“That’s the guy you two brought home just now, isn’t he? What the hell is he doing over there?” Erkan asked.

“How should we know?” Scarlett replied. “We saw him injured so we brought him home for treatment just like any people with common sense would do.”

"People with common sense don't just bring injured people back to their home!" Erkan shouts.

Scarlett and Erkan continue bickering at each other. Definitely not helping the current situation, you might say.
What should you do now?
>Stay inside the tavern and watch how things play out.
>Go outside to hear what they are saying, but stay far enough so the soldiers don’t notice you.
>Go to the knight’s side.

Time to make a friend.
I wonder which kind of lance the knight has. I want to say Silver, but I doubt it.

“W-wait, Travis! Where are you going?” Scarlett called out to you but too late, you’re already on your way to the knight’s side.

You ran to and stood by the side of the knight. “Y-young man. What are you doing?” The knight asked. You’ve treated his wound and brought him here. Of course there’s no way you’d just let these soldiers ganging up on him like this.

“Oh, what a brave young man.” The enemy leader commended you while still riding on his high horse.

“That’s the guy who killed one of our comrades!” A soldier told the leader.

“Is that so?” The leader looked amused. “I like you, young man. Say why don’t you try fighting me? If you can survive one blow of mine. I’ll let you go.” He said.

“No wait, young man.” The knight tried to stop you. “Step back. You don’t know what you’re doing.”
>Accept the challenge.

We aren't stupid, but we aren't going to sit on the side lines. Not unless the knight insists.

“Ho, I see…” The leader smiled. “You’re brave, but not foolishly brave. I commend you for not blindly charging at me. Had you do so, then you’d find your head rolling in mere seconds.”

His words angered you, but they were true. He’s definitely not someone to be messed with.

“It’s alright, young man.” The old knight patted you on the shoulder, and stepped forward to face the enemy leader.

“Duel with me. If I win, then let go of this village.” The knight said.

“And what make you think I’d comply with your demand?” The leader asked.

“I’m betting it on your honor as a proud soldier.” The knight replied.

“… You’re talking pretty big for someone half dead.” The leader applauded. “Though it would left me in bad taste turning down this challenge. Come. I, Armod, shall show you no mercy.”

“Aldous, proud paladin of Asier. Here I come!” The knight announced his name and got into his fighting stance.

Oh, son of a bitch. And the pally doesn't have his spear WHY!?, so Armo is going to just have a field day against this guy.

Aldous got doubled so you only have to roll once. And unfortunately, 46 is just 1 point off 45.

>>41297195
Ahhh, I wasn't paying attention, sorry.
Damn. Really close. But at least Aldous isn't dead. Yet.
Also, we may or may not want to wrap this up soonish. It's getting late, and I feel like we are the only ones here.

Oh, wow, it's been 6 hours since I started the thread? I'll try to finish this in the next 2 posts. Thank you for sticking with me.

>>41297225
I'm here too, I had to be afk for the last hour

Nah, it was fun. Not many quests actually take the time to have hard stats floating around. Weird as that sounds, it makes a difference. I hope to see this quest come around again.
>>41297266
Okay, so I wasn't alone. Good to know.

The stats on that Halberdier scare me slightly. The huge gap between him and his troops is a little concerning.

“Yah!” Aldous charged forward and swung his silver sword at Armo with everything he had. Unfortunately, the wounds on his body aren’t very kind to him. They made him less a fighter than he should be, and this made it easy for Armo to dodge the attack.

Aldous missed his target, and got counterattacked. Armo avoided using the tip of the spear to finish off Aldous, but a swept from the spear to the wounded body of Aldous is enough to render him powerless. Aldous got knocked to the ground, and the silver sword flew off his hands.

Armo stepped forward with a wicked smile on his face. One more strike and Aldous is a goner, he is now at complete mercy of Armo. Armo raised his lance, and swung it down at Aldous’ throat.

At that moment, you jumped in and stopped Armo with the pitchfork. Armo’s spear is now just inches away from Aldous’ throat, but the knight is still alive.

“Hm… A brave fool is still a fool regardless.” Armo swung his spear and knocked you away, like you’re just a little nuisance to him. “Now, where were we?” He turned back to Aldous.

“Report!” One of the soldiers came running to Armo. “Sir! The Aiser army is quickly marching towards this village! We have to withdraw from this village now!”

“Tcht! Just how did they get mobilize so fast?” Armon looks annoyed. “Hm… Doesn’t matter, our mission to break through the border is already accomplished. All troops, retreat!” He then looked at you. “Consider yourself lucky.”

Armo and his troops then retreated from the village, just as suddenly as they appear.

You, still on the ground, tried to get your breath back to normal. You really could have been killed back then, no kidding.

“Travis!” You heard the voice of Scarlett. You turned and saw her running straight at you and hugged you. “Oh gods! I was so scared that you might have been killed. Don’t you ever do that again, you got that? You big idiot!”

Erkan also walked to you. “You’re one lucky bastard, you know that?”

You nodded. That was dangerous, but the fact that you are still alive means that all is still good. Though you have to wonder what army was that, and why suddenly the attack?

As you were thinking, another group of soldiers marched towards you. Judging by their uniform and what the enemy soldier’s said earlier, it’s most likely the soldiers of the Asier army.

“Oh, thank you for your timely appearance.” Erkan walked over to greet them. “I don’t know what would have happen to us if you…” And the soldiers proceeded to capture him and held him down to the ground. “Hey, what the hell are you guys doing?! I’m just a normal villager!” Erkan yelled.

The one who looks like the leader, riding his horse, moved over to Erkan, looked down at him for a second, and then announced loudly. “ATTENTION! THIS IS AN EMERGENCY FORCED DRAFT! PLEASE UNDERSTAND AND COOPERATE! IF YOU RESIST, THEN WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO STRIKE YOU DOWN WHERE YOU STAND!”

Other soldiers rushed at you and brought you down just like Erkan.

“Wait, what are you guys doing!? Let him go!” Scarlett tried to fight the soldiers to free you, but is also quickly brought down.

This was supposed to be just tutorial battle like in the game, but then I realize that forcing players to roll dices against weak enemies doesn't sound very fun, so the boss came to being at the spur of the moment.

Ah, right, tutorial. Yeah, that makes sense. Didn't want us getting murdered right off the bat. Well, nice playing, see ya tomorrow, QM.
