You are Captain WILLIAM PIERCE, a combat rescue officer of the United States Air Force!

"Will!"

You're caught off guard when Janice tackle hugs you the moment you step off of the Osprey, pressing her face against yours in quick but passionate kiss.

"Whoa, better rein it in or Janice might get knocked up again." Red chuckles.

"Y-yes, I heard that a single act of kissing or even holding hands can cause it!" Misono nods.

"You don't really believe that, do you, Miso?" Red raises an eyebrow.

"Of course! It is common knowledge in Japan!" Misono insists.

Oh, Misono.

Forgot to ask last thread, how do you think Pierce's family will react when they find out Janice got knocked up?
>>
>>41334824
Happy, I think they were asking about grandkids.
>>
>>41334824
They'd ask when the wedding is.
>>
>>41334824
They'll react with "FINALLY, I thought he was married to his job, now I can have grandchildren!"

Anyway, how old is the main cast again?

For some reason Janice and Pierce always see distinctly older, like by 10 years than the rest of them. Maybe because they had sex.
>>
>>41334889
i imagine they will joke 'Well, seems he PIERCE'd the protection hard this time" whenever they have gathering.
>>
>>41334946
IIRC, Pierce is 26 and Janice is 22-23.
>>
>>41334946
They are both 25 I think. They are distinctly more mature then the rest of the cast.
>>
>>41334946
Red's 18, Tarin isn't much older, Misono's mid-teens, Laika is low-teens at best, Pierece is late 20s and Janice is just a year or two behind.
>>
>>41335007
I thought Tarin was older, given her apparently legendary service record, so like 25ish.
>>
>>41335105
Honestly I doubt Tarin even knows how old she really is, given her semi-raised-by-wolves status.

"Ha, that's not quite how it works, Misono." You chuckle.

"It... it's isn't?!" Misono looks crestfallen, as if she had just been lied to. "B-b-but the other witches-"

"Don't believe everything you say, Misono." You chuckle as you pat her on the head. She instinctively stiffens, probably still remembering that serious hair ruffling last night.

"Ooooh, oooh, how DOES it work!? I'm curious!" Laika says as she rolls down the ramp. "I wanna hear every detail!"

Artya shyly follows behind, her mask still firmly secured over her face. You knew that Rubens had managed to get rid of the horrid burn scars, but you figure the girl was still a bit traumatized from her experiences, so you never pressed the issue.

"Nope. Maybe when you're a few years older." You shake your head.

"Hmmmm, maybe I'll ask Nun, then!" She says happily.

"NO!" Basically everybody present yells.

"Ask me what?" Nungesser asks as she exits the Osprey, looking a bit confused. "What did I miss?"

"Absolutely nothing!" You laugh nervously.

"Maybe you should help Bullseye unload his gear." Rex helpfully suggests.

"Excellent idea!" Nungesser smiles and trots back into the Osprey to further harass your poor pilot.

"Good save, Rex." You nod in respect.

"It's what I do." Rex nods back.

"Ha ha, best not to cheat on Jan right in front of her!" Red laughs as she slaps you on the shoulder. "So you had some good R&R? Certainly looks like it!"

"Yeah, I guess we really needed it." You grin. "Janice, Tarin, nice to see you both doing well."

"Some of us handled it better than others." Tarin notes.

"It was sooooooooo exhausting!" Janice wails as she holds you tight. "Healing patients nonstop. Me and Red nearly burned ourselves out!"

"Is that why we got redirected to Warsaw now?" You ask, looking around at the unfamiliar skyline around you.

"The second wave of relief workers arrived, so we were rotated out." Red explains. "The UNf igured with all the magic we used up and all the radiation floating around, it was better to swap us out."

"I see." You frown.

"Anyways, we're supposed to report directly to.Colonel Kelsey." Ghost says quietly. "He says he needs to talk to you."

"Hey, maybe we should swing by and see Hessler and Elsa!" Red grins. "They just got transferred in this morning, too! It would be a cool little reunion!"

Nothing we can we do with that, as A1 Pictures is the one animating, not the original mangaka.

"I think we should go see Kelsey first." You say. "Kids, I think it's time for some quality time with Mom."

"Yay!" Laika literally leaps from her chair and tackle hugs Janice. Artya quickly follows her lead while Misono just sighs in exasperation.

You actually find it a bit disconcerting that a girl with no legs has actually figured out how to tackle hug.

"C'mon, Cap, I'll take you there." Red says, patting you on the back. "I got a chance to get a lay of the land so I know how to get there."

"Sure, lead the way, then."

Red leads you to a empty and waiting jeep. She hops into the driver's seat while you settle yourself in the passenger seat. She then fires up the engine and the jeep lurches forward.

"Yeah, most of the good stuff is at the front, so all we got here are the clunkers." Red explains.

"Red, considering our line of work, I'm used to rough rides." You grin.

"Ha, yeah, I guess." Red chuckles.

Red then swerve the jeep to cut through a nearby airfield. You can see planes of various types sitting on the tarmac. American F-15s, German F-4s, Polish F-16s, and more. You also catch sight of two particular helicopters covered with large heavy tarps and being moved under even heavier guard. No doubt the Ghost Hawk and Comanche.

"Hey, Cap, you mind if I ask you a question?" Red asks a bit nervously.

"What's the problem?" You narrow your eyes.

"What makes you assume it's a problem?" Red frowns.

"You're making it sound like one." You point out.

"Ah, I guess." Red sighs. "Um, well, Are there any taboos about dating someone from, er... another branch? Like, say Navy or Army?"

"So how are things with Ugly? You ask.

"Eyes on the road, soldier." You remind her. "Anyways, practically, everybody knew. It was as obvious as night and day."

"Oh god, this is so embarrassing..." Red groans.

"Will his opinion change anything?" You ask. "I mean, would you break up with Ugly if he tells you to?"

"Pffft, fuck no." Red shakes her head.

"Then there's your answer." You say simply. "Besides, I think his niece's choice of boyfriend is the least of his problems right now, so if there's a time to break out the truth it's now."

"Pffft, ha, that's a good idea." Red laughs. "I'll keep that in mind."

"You might also want to uh, hold off on the intimacy there, too. Your uncle promise terrible vengeance on both me and whoever did the deed."

"Well shit, that may be a problem." Red frowns.

"Wait, don't tell me..." You gasp.

"Nah, I'm just fucking with you, Cap!" Red snickers. "But the look on your face-"

"EYES ON THE ROAD." You remind.

"Yeah yea- oh shit!" Red makes a last minute serve to avoid a moving forklift. "Sorry about that."

"Maybe I should drive..."

Thankfully, it's only a few more minutes until you reach Kelsey's new HQ, a temporary trailer set up on a once empty patch of field. You wonder how recently this thing was set up.

"Well, go on, Cap. I'll wait out here." Red says with a smile. "I'll tell him myself on my own time."

"Good luck with that." You pat her on the shoulder. "If you really do love Ugly that much, don't let anybody talk shit, even your uncle, you got that?"

"Crystal, Cap. Thanks."

You then hop out of the jeep and knock on the door of the trailer.

"Come in." Kelsey says casually. You open the door and he looks up. "Ah, Pierce, good to see you. Sit down."

"I heard we have a mission?" You ask.

"A few, yes." Kelsey nods. "I've been keeping track of Lieutenant Foster's communications with the Ukrainian coven regarding your newest unofficial addition, Artya."

"What's the news?" You ask.

"Officially, there's no record of Artya anywhere in any currently accessible records." Kelsey says. "Then again, it could just be the records were lost or destroyed, considering recent events."

"Of course." You nod, recalling the nuclear devastation the country suffered.

"The issue is that what will become of Artya is now the main issue." Kelsey sighs. "Now, we all know that based on the language she speaks, and the region we found her, she either belongs to the Ukrainian or Russian covens. However, Poland and Germany also appear to be expressing interest as well."

"Really?" You blink.

"That's right. Witches are rare and valuable, especially in wartime." Kelsey sighs. "If an unregistered witch pops up, well, that means she's up for grabs."

"She's staying with us. Period." You say sternly.

"Not an unexpected answer. You do seem to have a penchant for picking up new additions." Kelsey grins. "Well, it's not unprecedented for something like this to happen. Enrolling into a coven is a choice after all. This does mean that there would be a lot of paperwork involved if you were to formally adopt a child from a foreign country, though."

"Really?" You blanch.

"All of which I've already taken care of." Kelsey chuckles as he slides a folder to you. You open it so see adoption papers with a big red APPROVED stamped on them in fresh red ink.

"I pulled a few strings. You'd be surprised the favors government clerks are willing to grant to a NATO commander after being liberated from Russian occupation."

"Wow... I don't know what to say, sir." You blink.

"A simple 'thank you' would suffice." Kelsey smiles. "However, there is a bit of a catch."

"Catch?" You grimace.

"NATO command and the covens at least want Artya to make a public demonstration of her powers for an official record. To find out what kind of power she has and how powerful it is. It's a standard procedure, really."

This is sort of a "If you need to ask, you're not going to be able to pull it off" question.

Crossover-based quests in general have a long history on /tg/, most of it pretty shoddy. You have some that are decent, one or two that are good, and then a dozen or so that are utter tripe.

If you're even thinking about it, you need to sit down, do your research. Go over old quests in the archive, read up on the ones that failed and the ones that did well. Note the elements that made the good ones work.

*Then* you can probably come to your own decision about whether it's a good idea or not.

Also, drop the name. It's unnecessary and is probably going to get people shitposting at you for it pretty quick.

"That doesn't sound like the full story." You grimace. "What's with all this sudden attention?"

"Ah, well, the thing is, this war has dredged up very... concerning facts." Kelsey struggles to find the right words to say. "It's not public knowledge, but quite a few witches that were previously 'written off' suddenly surfaced, and now it's got all the covens scrambling."

"What happened?" You narrow your eyes. "I think we've been through enough that we can cut the BS."

"Right, right." Kesley sighs. "Two witches that were thought to have died several years ago suddenly turned up alive and well. I think you'll recognize them as Frank Bishop's newest additions. We also had a complete unknown, similar to Artya, pop up, all from the same Russian program. The whole situation has got the covens scrambling to tighten and reform record keeping policies."

"I see." You sigh. "I suppose there's no choice on this matter?"

"Unfortunately no." Kelsey shakes his head. "You are allowed to be present at the demonstration, though, in case anything were to happen."

"Gee, that's so much more comforting." You snort. "So when's it happening?"

"Tonight, so you better get ready." Kelsey nods. "You might also want to touch base with the proctors."

"Who are?"

"You know who they are. Two certain German panzer witches." Kelsey grins.

"Hessler and Elsa?" You whistle. "So that's why they're back?"

"I figured you'd be more comfortable with familiar faces." Kelsey shrugs. "Anything else?"

"Unfortunately, Laika will have to resume patrol flights as of now. After the bombings, NATO recon flights were interrupted. We now have no good up to date intel on the ground situation beyond the border."

"I see." You sigh. "Laika would have wanted to be at the demo with Artya."

"Can't have everything." Kelsey shakes his head. "Anyways, what will you do now?"

"I'm going to talk to Artya about this and at least try to coach her. This is probably the first kind of public display she'll have to do."

"Understandable." Kelsey nods. "Just remember to get there on time. Matrons don't like being stood up."

"Speaking from experience, sir?" You crack a devilish grin.

"You wish." Kelsey laughs. "Now get outta here. I have more things to worry about right now."

"Yes sir." You salute and make your exit.

"Things go smoothly?" Red asks as you close the door and head for the jeep.

"Ah, just the usual." You shrug. "Red's just going to have to undergo a test to show her powers."

"Ah, one of those." Red sighs as she puts the jeep in gear.

Ah right, you almost forgot Red herself was a witch. She did always wear pants, after all.

"What's it like?" You ask.

"Eh, the Matrons just put you in a room with a bunch of random crap lying around and ask you to do all sorts of random shit." Red shrugs. "There's a lot of uncertainty as at that point, nobody, not even the subject, knows what powers they'll manifest. Usually involves putting the subject through lots of stress to draw out her powers."

"Stress?" You raise your eyebrow.

"Oh yeah. Magic powers usually manifest when the witch feels a lot of it. In other words, shit like puberty is a surefire way to trigger it, but other things like life threatening situations could set it off as well. What do you think is the easier of the two with younger witches?"

"It makes sense, as long as it's controlled." You grumble. "But I'm still uncomfortable at using this kind of tactic, especially with that Artya's been though."

"Ah, I wouldn't worry about it. She's a tough girl." Red laughs. "Otherwise she wouldn't be here with us! I got money down that she'll beat the crap out of the proctor, in fact!"

"The proctors are Hessler and Elsa." You reveal.

"Oh, well that's sure to be interesting!" Red nods.

Thankfully, Red manages to get you back to the barracks without crashing into anything or running off the road. You find Janice and the girls in the common room. Janice is playing about with Artya's hair, no doubt trying to style it, while Laika and Misono look on.

"So what would you like, Artya? Ponytail or pigtails?" Janice giggles, having way too much fun for something so mundane.

Artya just shrugs.

"I see you all are having fun." You grin.

"Oh, Will! You're back!" Janice says happily. "So, how did the meeting go?"

"Well, it's back to work for us." You sigh. "Kelsey wants Laika back in the air doing recon flights. Laika, go find Rex and tell him to take you to the hangar."

"Hey, I can do that!" Red insists.

"No offense, but I'd prefer Laika ride with a more responsible driver." You shake your head.

"Meanie." Red pouts.

"Yeah! Will is a big meanie!" Laika laughs as she wheels past. "I'll see you later then!"

"You too, you little bugger." You grin as you ruffle Laika's hair as she rolls past you.

"There's more to this, right?" Janice asks a little suspiciously.

"The matrons want Artya to demonstrate her powers." You say.

"I was afraid they would do that." Janice shakes her head. "They were lax about such procedures before, but now, I can understand."

"Kelsey told you?"

"No, it's just that word travels fast through covens. I'm already well aware of the rumors." Janice says. "I just hope they don't put too much strain on poor little Artya."

"Well, what's the worst that can happen?" You ask. "You've gone through it, right?"

"Not exactly." Janice shakes her head. "My powers developed rather quickly, so there was no need to force it out."

"Misono?" You turn to your oldest adopted daughter.

"When I was of age I was tasked with dueling the finest samurai witches in the coven." Misono says with a smile. "Ah, such exciting times!"

Yeah, probably was a bad idea to ask her.

Artya looks to you and scribbles a poorly written note, no doubt due to just recently learning how to write in English from Laika.

PROBLEM?

"No, not at all." You kneel in front of Artya and look right at her mask's tinted lenses. "Some older witches are just going to test you. Are you all right with that?"

Artya nods.

"I know it's not exactly regulation, but perhaps you can take her to see Hessler and Elsa? I don't think they were ever formally introduced!" Janice smiles.

"I dunno, wouldn't that kinda compromise the test?" Red frowns.

"Don't be silly!" Janice chuckles. "They're still are friends regardless, right?"

"Ah, it wouldn't hurt to introduce Artya to them." You smile. "The more friends she makes, the better."

"Exactly!"

"All right, whatever." Red shrugs and turns to Misono. "Hey, Miso, it's time for practice. Meet me out back in five."

"At once, Red-sempai!" Misono nods eagerly.

"I suppose it's just us, then." Janice smiles as she stands up and takes Artya's hand. "Let's go!"

Fortunately, Janice proves to be a significantly more responsible driver than Red ever was, driving you over to the other side of the barracks complex with a minimum of fuss. There, you see Elsa and Hessler running laps around a track.

"Exercising at this hour? You two truly are the paragons of German culture." You crack a joke as Janice pulls the jeep alongside them as they run.

"Captain!" Hessler skids to a halt. "I did not expect to see you so soon.

"Hey!" Elsa waves happily. "Nice to see ya two again? How's it going?!"

"Nothing much." You say as you motion to Artya sitting your lap. "Just thought we'd introduce you to our newest addition, Artya."

"Aw, isn't she just the cutest!" Elsa coos. "That's a pretty cool gas mask, too!"

Artya gives a thumbs up in approval.

"She's a girl of few words." Hessler observes.

"Well, yeah, in a literal sense." You nod. "She doesn't talk, though it seems to be a more mental than physical thing."

"I read the file." Hessler nods, giving Artya a very critical eye. "It's very much against the regulations for us to meet the test taker like this..."

"Given her recent history, I figured it's safer for everyone involved that she at least knows who you are before there's any stress-testing done." You point out. "I mean, she DID have a nuke dropped on her, after all."

"Yes, I am aware of it." Hessler sighs and kneels down in front of Artya. "Hello there, I am Elisa Hessler! You must be Artya, yes?"

Artya nods sheepishly.

"And I'm Elsa! But you can just call me Big Sis!" Elsa chortles as she pats Artya's head and points a thumb over to Hessler. "And you can call her Auntie Hess!"

"What? Auntie?!" Hessler glowers. "Funny choice of words, coming from the girl three months older than me!"

"Not my fault you act like a granny all the time!" Elsa shrugs smugly.

"Now, watch closely, Artya." Hessler gives a bright, forced smile to the girl. "Elisa will teach how to do a German Suplex!"

"Wait wha-" Elsa doesn't even have a chance to finish when Hessler wraps her arms around the Elsa's waist, arches backwards, slamming Elsa's head into the ground, though at the last second you see the blue glow of a shield as it absorbs the impact with a loud CRACK.

Artya meanwhile claps enthusiastically.

"Owowowowowowow." Elsa groans as she picks herself up from the ground, rubbing the back of her head. "You coulda killed me with that, you know!"

"That's what shields are for." Hessler huffs as her tiger ears and tail fade away.

"Now now, girls. There will be plenty of time to catfight later." You can't keep yourself from laughing.

"Ha, you wish you'd like to see us wrestle!" Elsa laughs and winks at Janice. "You're free to join in too, you know! We can make a three way!"

"Please, Elsa." Hessler smakcks the back of Hessler's head.

"Owowowow!" Elsa whimpers.

"In either case, the demonstration will be soon." Hessler says as she checks her watch. "I suggest you head for the training grounds. We shall meet you there shortly."

"Sure thing." You say. "Come on, Artya."

As you arrive on the training grounds, you see that preparations have already been made. All manner of steel and concrete obstacles of various shapes and sizes have been scattered around the area, along with surplus cargo containers, crates, and other large objects. To the side, you can see an elevated observation area where you assume the Matrons would be observing from. The fact that the observation area was protected by thick, blast proof glass was not a positive indicator. Meanwhile, Janice leads Artya by the hand to her starting position, where a pair of Polish military police stand guard.

"Are you sure there's nothing we can tell her?" You ask.

"Every test is different." Janice shakes her head. "I don't know what the matrons plan to have Hessler and Elsa do."

Artya looks at both you and Janice anxiously.

"It's all right, Artya." Janice says soothingly, stroking her hair. "It's just a test. Whatever happens, you won't get hurt. I won't let them, okay?"

Artya nods reluctantly.

"Will, do you have anything to say?" Janice turns to you.

"Artya, whatever happens, just try and stay safe above all else, okay?" You say, trying not to look anxious as you kiss her on the forehead, more accurately, the forehead section of her mask.

However, before you can stand up again, Artya gingerly grabs your sleeve and tugs, keeping you down. She then sheepishly takes off her mask. You get a clear look at her face, which was pale as snow. However, you could still see the faint outlines of the burn scars, lingering damage that Rubens hadn't been quite able to completely get rid of. However, you didn't really see that detrimental to her appearance at all. Artya then sheepishly points her finger to her now exposed forehead.

The meaning is clear and doesn't require words. You just smile and kiss her on her real forehead this time. Artya shudders for a second at the contact. As you pull away, you see Artya actually smile as she slips her mask back on and gives you a thumbs up.

"ALL PERSONNEL NOT INVOLVED WITH THE TEST, PLEASE VACATE THE TESTING AREA." You hear a voice bellow over a loudspeaker. "THE TEST SHALL BEGIN SHORTLY."

With that, you and Janice are guided up to the observation area, where you see several NATO officers and Matrons gathered. You didn't really know any of them, though you notice them exchange quick greetings and formalities with Janice as she passes before they return their attention to the main event.

Down below, you can see both Hessler and Elsa roll in on tank strikers, each of them wielding G3 rifles. Of course, they weren't real rifles, but replicas that fired paintballs for training purposes. That didn't bode well.

"BEGIN." The voice bellows as a siren blares.

Immediately, Artya dashes for cover, hiding inside a large concrete pipe section as Elsa and Hessler roll forward, their rifles loaded and ready to fire. You honestly wonder what the point of this test was. Hessler and Elsa held all of the advantages here. What did the Matrons expect Artya to do?

"Jeez, they're starting off strong..." Janice frowns.

Or, like so many witches popping out of the woodwork during this war, she has no formal association with any coven and may have extraordinary powers at her disposal.

Everyone is looking to snatch up budding talent for prestige and pull in the witch world.

Different kind of test.

They'd already gone through tests to find their abilities, and they knew what they were. That was to confirm who they were with their existing records.
*This* test is to figure out what those abilities are in the first place, so it's got a very different format.
>>
>>41342033
The Bishop kids have to go through this "testing" too. If they want to be legit witches instead of pilots. Which when I think about it, might be never. Planes too good. Down with stupid old fashion strikers!

"They're trying to set her up to fail, aren't they?" You whisper to Janice.

"I'm not so sure about that." Janice frowns. "But they are using stricter standards. Either they want her to fail as an excuse not to fight over her, or they believe she possesses very powerful talent worth trying to force out."

"What would make them think that?"

"Well." Janice smiles wryly. "Arty did survive a nuclear bomb, right? That must mean she's somewhat special."

Down below, you can see Hessler and Elsa moving aggressively, weaving through the obstacles and sweeping each and every one. Artya keeps dashing from cover to cover, continually thwarting attempts to catch her, butt he German witches are slow and methodical, slowly herding Artya into a corner like a hunted animal. Finally, Artya is left hiding behind a single cargo container, with no place else to go. Hessler and Elsa slowly roll up on either side, rifles raised and ready.

"It's the moment of truth now." Janice frowns.

Hessler and Elsa look at each other and nod. They then prep for the assault by each throwing a flashbang over the container. After two loud BANGS, the two witches swing around...

...and are immediately forced back by a blast of smoke and burning embers. Almost immediately, every matron in the observation deck stands up, with some taking pictures and others furiously jotting down notes. Down below, a thick black cloud of burning smoke emanates from where Artya was hiding, with bright orange embers interspersed in the cloud. Hessler and Elsa immediately reverse away, their shields glowing bright as the air around them literally burns.

"A fitting power, I see." Janice says sadly.

The Matrons then huddle together and mumble at each for a few second before nodding to the announcer.

"TEST IS CONCLUDED. ALL PERSONNEL STAND DOWN. I REPEAT, ALL PERSONNEL STAND DOWN."

With that, Hessler and Elsa back off back to their initial starting positions. You and Janice are already out of your chairs and down on the tarmac, running towards the smoke cloud.

"Artya!" You yell, coughing and wincing from the heat. "Artya! You did it! You can stop now!"

And just like that, the smoke dissipates as quickly as it had appeared, revealing a shaking Artya as she tries to walk toward you, but her legs begin to wobble and buckle. Janice lunges forward with magic enhanced speed and snatches her up in a hug.

"Oh, you did a good job, Artya! A very good job!" Janice cries as she holds Artya tight. You're about to join when you're intercepted by a young airman.

"Captain Pierce, Colonel Kelsey requires your presence. It's urgent." He says.

You look to Artya and Janice, and back to the airman.

"Can you give it a minute?" You ask.

"Sir, the Colonel was very insistent-"

"Only a minute." You say. "I'll be right back!"

You dash over to Arty and Janice and give Artya another kiss on the forehead.

"You did good, Artya. You did good." You smile. "You totally showed those matrons!"

"And Pyrokinesis, too. That's a rather rare ability." Janice nods.

"Anyways, can you handle things here?" You ask. "Colonel Kelsey is calling me."

"Yes, of course. Somebody is going to have to talk to the matrons." Janice sighs. "Go."

You give Janice a quick kiss on the cheek and dash back to the waiting airman. He quickly leads you over to a waiting jeep, where he takes you to the control tower on full pedal. You wonder what the hell could possibly be going on. You are then led up into the tower, where you see Kesley with a grim face as he stares at one of the radar screens. Next to him is Sokolov, with his hands over his face.

"Sir?" You step forward, dread already creeping into your chest. "What happened?"

"It's my fault." Sokolov groans. "I should've examined it closer. I never thought he'd have hidden a backdoor..."

"Pierce." Kesley says sadly. "Laika is down."

>And that's it for tonight! We're getting into the homestretch now! Probably going to be one or two threads left, so be sure not to miss them!

Not mad, just tired and exhausted of his deus ex machina crap.

He's just a shitty villain who's outlived his plot and narrative welcome.

>>41342566
Backdoors and hacking don't work that way.

I'm guessing that Volgin sent a signal that shut down Laika's VDNI implants. Without VDNI, she can't pilot her plane.

Laika was probably under attack during this time. So the ACTIVE got shot down and she was forced to eject...

God damn it, Volgin. Let us reunite DesDiv 6 first, you bastard.

It's canon that Laika would BTFO both Lilya and Stasya as they are now in a straight up dogfight, even 2v1.
