You are Cell Iko, new member of the Resistance Movement against Neo Arcadia. You are currently on a mission to defeat Terrorvolt Tarantion and obtain the supplies within his warehouse. Lorelei just told you about a large mechaniloid signature that is in your path. Rather than fight it, you opt to go around, you want to be at your peak when you fight Tarantion.

“It’ll be a problem later.” You say as you climb on top of a container. “But that’s the key word, ‘later’. I want to take Tarantion out before he has time to set up his defenses.”

“Sounds good. Be careful though, if you take too long he might call it in.”

“Roger that, is it stationary?”

“It appears to be patrolling a small area. You can avoid it by going to the water and following it to the warehouse. There should be a small loading dock that you can enter from. Once you’re inside you should try to get up high. And watch your back, as you might have guessed, Tarantion is a spider-based reploid, so he’ll likely have no problem climbing walls and clinging to the ceiling.”

“Thanks for the update. I’ll be careful.”

You alternate between running on top of the containers and running between them, partially to avoid the rogue mechaniloids, and partially to break any line of sight that a guard may or may not have on you.

When you reach the water you see the loading dock that Lorelei mentioned. The radio crackles as her voice comes across, barely audible over increasingly loud static. “Cell, schematics of the building show multiple skylights that could be good entrance points. I’m picking up multiple mechaniloid signatures within the warehouse as well. Some of those may be stationed up on the roof as well, but I can’t tell for sure.”

“Lorelei? I’m barely reading you. I understood what you said, but it seems the closer I get the worse the signal is.”

The radio emits a large amount of static. “-ood, be careful.”

>Go in from the loading dock
>Climb up and enter from the roof

Going in from the loading dock might be quickest, but entering from the skylights will give you the opportunity to get a look at the lay out first and possibly catch Tarantion off guard. You turn off your radio, feeling that it won’t be of any help when you get closer. It’s a straight run to the building, with shipping containers stacked up next to it. You climb the containers and jump over to the roof where you can see a dozen Pantheon Hunters, four Pantheon Launchers around a central skylight, and a half-dozen Pantheon Warriors.

This is not going to be fun…

One of the Launchers turns its massive gun towards you and begins charging, alerting the others to your presence. You immediately start strafing and peppering the Launchers with your busters, but the Warriors form a shield and use their massive arms to block most of your shots.

The Hunters begin firing at you, to which you respond by activating your Dash systems propelling you safely out of the barrage.

You run a quick mental review of what each is capable of.

Hunters: Fires a low level buster in bursts of three. If the shots miss they take a moment to readjust their aim, leaving them vulnerable.
>>
File: PantheonWarrior.jpg (94 KB, 400x371)
94 KB
94 KB JPG
Warriors: A single heavily armored arm is used to block attacks and is impervious to most standard weapons. They will attempt to punch anyone who gets too close by using a Dash system of their own for a boost. This is the best time to strike if you can’t flank them.

Launchers: Extremely powerful but almost no mobility. They fire a short two-shot barrage of plasma equivalent to a third-tier Buster charge. Their accuracy is to be commended, but they are far too vulnerable before they fire.

The Pantheons aren’t dumb, they have a defensive formation set up and are willing to wait until you mess up.

You hear the sound of one of the Launchers reaching a full charge, but it doesn’t have a clean shot. It likely won’t shoot through its allies at least.

How much of a railgun charge might it take ot break through a warrior's shield?
>>
Okay, so the Warriors are stopping us from hitting the Launchers, so I say we take care of the Hunters first, maybe draw them away from the rest. Any ideas?
>>
>>41391329
1) Start charging your railguns.
2) Use moderate buster shots to take take out what you can of the hunters.
3/4) If our railguns are charged by this point, use the to break through the Warrior line keeping us from the Launchers. If not, keep your distance.
5) Break through the line of Warriors and rush the Launchers.
>>
>>41391329
Use wall jumps and dashes to get over the warriors and lace into the launchers with buster shots, then take out the warriors from behind.
>>
>>41391401
The Warrior's shields are strong enough to withstand at least a 50% charge. Which is about as much as a standard 3rd tier Buster Charge (To prevent confusion, I consider "Uncharged" to be the first tier of the charges.)

Hmm...we could dash to build speed, leap, then fire rail guns downward to give us more height from the recoil.
>>
>>41391500
We're built pretty light, we should be able to manage with dashes and regular jumps (even if it makes using the Hunters or Warriors' shields as a springboard). Especially if the Launchers won't shoot through their allies.

Is this possible?

You smirk as an idea worms its way into your head. Railguns start spinning up a charge as you start firing buster shots at the Hunters who are adjusting their aim. More Launchers sound like they’re ready to fire. You’ve got one shot at this, and you think it might just be crazy enough to work.

You dash to the side to avoid another barrage of the Hunters, their shots either fly off into the distance or impact the roof where you were just standing. You build up a charge in one of your busters as you start dashing towards the line of Warriors. With short hops after each dash to increase speed and resistance from the ground, you give one last hop and then dash for the last time. One of the Warriors raises its massive fist and you leap upwards at the end of your dash.

With its’ fist raised, you manage to land on its face, activate your Dash for the final time, and kick off, vaulting into the air directly over one of the Launchers. You fire your Railguns straight down into it, tearing it to shreds.

The recoil gives you a slight boost to your air time which you use to fire your stored charge shot at another Hunter, taking it out as your uncharged arm rakes the others. At least three hunters down, one Launcher in pieces, and one Warrior is struggling to stand.

The three remaining Launcher swivel to face you, all ready to fire.

>>
>>41391921
Apparently they're vulnerable before they fire, so... how about getting behind/on top of one o those giant guns and and taking down the guy using it? The others likely won't shoot him, but if we CAN move around and make them shoot each other in a crossfire, that'd be great.
>>

Sup NAC
>>
>>41391998
We're in the air and they're already ready to fire. That's not going to work.
>>41391921
What we do is we come down hard on of them with our spear out, and use the wreckage from the Launcher as cover while attempting to dodge the other two's shots.
>>
>>41392272
I can't tell whether Control has started writing yet or not, but I figured we were just landing.
>>
Bumpity bump busters.
>>
You twist mid-air and hit roof hard as the Launchers ready their aim. You whip out the spear as you dash forward towards the wreckage of the Launcher, the roof around it unstable. The remaining Pantheons start moving into a more aggressive formation as the Launchers fire into the smoking wreckage.

You dive to the side and feel the heat of plasma scrape against your right side, singeing your armor and causing your shields to flicker. Pushing through the pain, you dash forward into the nearest launcher and thrust the spear into its chest. Yanking it out, sparks fly out of the wound as it tries to bat you away ineffectively and you fire a volley of buster shots point blank into its head, destroying it and leaving nothing but a body and giant gun that had a small charge built up.
>>
The Hunters start firing, but you hide behind the massive gun and fire at them blindly. Over the exchange of plasma you hear the Warriors getting closer.

You vault over the remains of the Launcher and dash between the last two as they finish charging. A nearby Warrior dashes over to you, ready to strike and you stand your ground and raise your spear, letting it skewer itself on it. Unfortunately it doesn’t stop it and you have to roll out of the way, leaving the spear sticking out of its chest. The Launchers fire at you as you get to your feet and you roll once again to avoid taking more damage.

Unfortunately, you catch the edge of one of the shots and your shields start falling rapidly. Your body is mostly undamaged, but your shields have taken a beating. But on a brighter note, your ploy worked. The two launchers didn’t take into account your position compared to their allies. The Warrior is down, spear still protruding from its chest, one of the Launchers is out of commission and the other is heavily damaged.

Still, there’s a little over a half-dozen Hunters, and about five Warriors.

This shouldn’t be too hard now. Warriors are easily baited and Hunters can be predictable.

>Hunters first, dodging the Warriors isn’t too difficult.
>Warriors first, might be able to use the Hunters against them.

“I’m getting so tired of all of you,” you mumble as a Warrior charges you, only to be met with a slash from your gladius, cutting it in two diagonally. The Remaining Warriors raise their arms as shields as the Hunters fire at you. A simple dash to forward is all it takes to dodge. Four Warriors, about eight Hunters. You like these odds a lot better.

With your free hand you start firing buster shots at the Warriors, keeping their arms up and unmoving as you run towards them. You dash-jump over them and spin around, slashing one across the back, dive under one of them as they swing at you, bring your gladius up along its leg and side. It goes down and is unable to stand with its leg partially melted.

The Hunters fire at you as one of the Warriors moves in to attack, blocking their shots and taking even more damage to its back. It staggers and you use the opportunity to behead it, dropping it to the ground. The last two try to charge you at the same time, so you dive between them and slice off one of their massive arms in the process. The other attempts to swing its arm in an arc, but you dodge it by ducking and as you rise back up you bring your sword up through its crotch and out the head, cutting it cleanly in two.
>>
You finish the last one off with a simple, offhanded slash through the chest as you get ready to deal with the remaining Hunters.

Stowing the gladius, you ready your busters and proceed to take out the hunters in the most boring, but efficient way possible. By running around them in a large circle and peppering them until they fall.

When all is said and done, you take a moment to breathe and relax. Your shields are dangerously low, at least for what you’re about to do, with them sitting at about thirty percent. Your armor is singed and dented but nothing to worry about there, you can easily push through the pain.

As you retrieve your spear, you notice a faint glowing from the damaged, but not quite destroyed, Pantheon Launcher. It doesn’t seem to be building a charge, and its optics are busted….

That light is just too intriguing, so you slowly make your way over, busters ready to fire. The light is somewhere between red and pink in color and is originating from the Launcher’s busted face. You quickly give the Launcher a stab with your spear, putting the thing out of its misery, but the light doesn’t go out.

Slowly, the light starts to float upwards in a ball. Inside of it you can make out the figure of a small girl wearing an old nurse uniform. “Hi!” She says in a high pitched voice that matches her youthful appearance. She’s got bright red hair and a white cap with a red cross on it.

“Uh, hi.” You say back rather dumbly. You were not expecting a cyber-elf of all things to be here! From the looks of it, she’s a Nurse Elf. They generally modify the Nanomachines in reploids heal them instantly or recharge their shields. In some cases they can provide a permanent boost to a reploids shields. Unfortunately, all cyber-elves die when their job is done. “How long have you been here?”

“I have no idea. They stuffed me in that thing for transport, I don’t know how I wound up here. Thanks a lot for saving me though!” She floats down in front of your face. She’s so small she could easily fit in the palm of your hand. “My names Mareff, who’re you?”

“You can call me Cell,” you answer, looking around to make sure there’s no more enemies up here. “So, Mareff, what’re you going to do now?”

“Well, you saved me, so why don’t I tag along? You might need the help!” This is the problem you have with Cyber-Elves, they’re always so eager to help. Most of them don’t usually realize what will happen when they do. You aren’t sure if they aren’t told, or if they just don’t want to know.

“I appreciate the thought, but-“

“Great! Let’s go!” She says as she floats over the skylight.
>>
“Wait a minute, are you sure you want to go with me?” You ask, worrying that she hasn’t quite thought this through.

“Of course! It’s only right to want to repay the one who saves you!” Her smile is so sincere and innocent.

“Fine,” you sigh, “Just don’t wander off, okay?”

“You’re the boss!” She flies into your chest and you feel a little tingly. “I’ll just wait in here if you need me!” You kind of wish she asked before making herself at home in your chest, but it’s better than having her fly around give away your position.

“Whelp, time to get to work,” you say as you climb down onto a catwalk below the skylight, only to be greeted by a large device with a screen on it.

The screen reads, “Hello Maverick, if you are reading this then you have triggered a proximity and motion based explosive. This device will explode unless you disarm all five of them within the time displayed below. What will destroy you first? The bombs, or me? We shall see.” The timer on the bomb is ticking down from twenty minutes, already at nineteen.

“Oh, son of a bitch!” You curse Tarantion under your breath as you start pulling paneling off the large bomb. It’s heavily armored so that a fall or another explosion wouldn’t cause it to go off. Likely the only thing that would is the timer running out. You try your radio out of curiosity, only to get an ear full of static. No help from back home it seems.

The inside of the bomb is a mess of wires, one wrong move and it’s possible to cause it to blow up in your face. You’ve disarmed some bombs in the past as part of your training, but nothing like this, and certainly without such a hurry. Cutting a wire is reliable, but time consuming to do. Another option is to fry the circuitry with a small electrical jolt, but too much juice and you risk igniting the components yourself.

The last option is to find and eliminate Tarantion. He’ll have the codes to deactivate the bombs, why else would he want to hunt you down? It’s risky, but so is everything else about this!

“Well, fuck me…” You mumble as you build a small charge of electricity in your hand. “Seriously, this is fucked.” You release the electricity and sparks shoot out of your hand and the metal around the bomb and you smell smoke. On reflex, you dive away and cover your head.

But…

Nothing happens.

You look back at the bomb and see that the screen is off and the exposed circuitry is smoking. Well, without the screen you can’t tell if you just fried the timer or if it is actually disarmed…

“Shit…” You only hope that it won’t blow up on you later.

As you stand up you use the height of the catwalk to survey the building. You can see another bomb on a large metal box in a corner, as well as a large number of Pantheon Guardians. They don’t have any ranged capability, and their only weapon is a shock-stick that won’t be much more than a tingle to you.

“Cell, there’s a bomb over by the loading dock!” Mareff informs you.

“Okay, one down, hopefully, two we can see, and two more that we need to find. All those guardians will be a problem if we have to go down to the ground. They won’t do much damage, but they will slow us down.” You say, taking note of the numerous enemies.

I need another hour or so before I can storytime. In the meantime, the newest addition to the Hunters, Steam Shenlung.
Shen Lung: 35 feet of vicious metal and fiery hate, was built in Vietnam with four siblings, one of which I have reserved for a Gamera knockoff. Breathes out steam laced with nastiness that fries sensors and can billow out around him in a cloud on land, flashboiling the seas when he swims through. As a First Recon unit, he can also turn invisible, so yeah. Giant invisible sea srepent that can blind you and then shred you with its cois and claws. Water mavs are fucked. Although his first fight will end up effectively being as close to a kaiju battle as I can currently get.

>my guy in the 16th is going to make a Yellow Devil for a Battlebots like competition where the champ then gets a stress test against Crankshaft and the Dino Tank.

OHHHHHHH
>>
So, which team do you want this time, to start? Vienna is practically done as a mission, and my fast team has been on down time, which has had some interesting things. The introduction of a rival, a rabbit against Sigma, a spider tank's construction and tour of Vienna after the carnage, and streaking through the Seventh come to mind immediately.
>>
>>41402214
The rabbit against Sigma sounds deliciously painful. Let's go with that one until someone votes otherwise.
>>
Right then, the Rabbit and Sigma, followed by Vienna and then shorter stories. A short, painful story starring Negative Snowhare, part of the Second Recon, sniper, and one of the resident freezers, and technically Pandora, also Second Recon, hologram buff, and adopted daughter of a doting father in 16th as it was. See, first off, Pandora was part of a failed line that was bought by an enterprising 16th scientist duo, called Oberon and Titania, since they kinda came after getting more into Pandora's background, seeing as she's modeled on a fairy as is. So, anyway, after Oberon upgrades them both (eating away all their cash and toys from work), Negative is raring to test out his new toys, and so they head to the firing range. Once there, he spots a labrador and a humanoid shooting at the range, a few geists sparring, and some lanceteamers getting their psych evaluations. Negative heads towards the two, testing his newest toys on the range, namely some upgrades for his guns, and a new gun courtesy of their tech head in the Second, Bones (NPC Geist who is a megaman nerd, go figure). After testing his shiny new toy, he asks about testing some armor upgrades, so the Lab and the humanoid chime in, suggesting putting it through the Sigma Sim. His mistake was saying yes.
They put him in the sim, and set Sigma to wait for twelve seconds. In that time he used a new ability where he added ablative ice armor, shot Sigma in the face with his rifle several times, and then harpooning Sigma in the eyes to then try dragging himself in, then Dash Kick off. As he activates his dash, the simulation comes online as Sigma just shrugs off everything he did at once, shattering the built up ice on his face by blinking, grabbing his leg as he was about to shoot off, and slamming him into the ground. Mid bounce, around Sigma's thigh, he gets a boot to the chest, slamming him back into the simulated ground hard and crumpling his chest. Then the saber turns on.
>>
>>41403307
The saber then carves deep into Negative, basically ending the sim in one blow. As he comes back online, the two hunters are laughing their asses off as Pandora decides to never run that sim EVER. Negative gets confrontational, and the hunters respond with
>What, you thought you could really take on a guy who used to eat G ranks for lunch when he was in command? Either that's the best joke we heard all day or you seriously needed a reminder before you ended up scrap trying to shoot something you shouldn't.
He takes it poorly, even as Pandora asks about Sigma some more (getting a similar response as Dodo's), and Negative, ego bruised, goes in again, this time choosing Wire Sponge, who just sort of gets shot a lot, frozen in place and dies as he is crap.
Wait...Did I go into any detail with this before? I forget. if not, I passed over some good stuff.
>>
>>41403445
Don't remember you talking about it in the previous story time
>>
>>41403896
Ah, crap, I passed over some stuff. There was also a piano duel with Seeker Swan, for one. I think I'm going to come back to this then, and go with someone a it easier to start from the beginning with: Zyph'r and Streaking through the Seventh.

Now, after the squad had returned to Geneva and gone their separate ways, Zyph'r sought out his commander, everyone having gotten on base shortly after Vienna began, being assigned base guard work. Linking up with one Dazzling Mockingjay, who he makes a few bad choices around, he ends up deciding to send his armor in for a full rehaul-basically, he wasn't fully aware of options, I had left some open, and let the PCs have a chance to get some more tricks early. So, together, Mockingjay (who sketched out a design) and Zyph'r go to greet their engineer, who happens to be Thermite as his specialty didn't involve large airborne doom fortresses, but armor. So, not thinking, Zyph decides that, since he has endoconstruction as a starting point, he is going to hand his armor off. However, while handing your armor in without pause is commendable, doing so in the middle of an airfield, especially without clothes under your armor. So first, Mockingjay takes some pics of the suddenly nude new guy. Then as the catcalls begin, and he runs for the barracks with little more than a welding mask covering his robot shame, he decides that he must both change his general appearance and own up to the prank. He gets there just as a new vid is brought in
Then the Baywatch music begins. See, Mockingjay (and all the crew on base, which included some Berets who had guard duty) providing laughter and a cut of him in slow motion, mask replaced by a speedo.
After whch.he decided that he was never going humanoid again. He is currently working through that.

I am currently too close to falling asleep to focus on story time. If it's still up, I'll cover Vienna when I wake.

Only temporarily up, but here's an idea: develop some hunters and mavs too, more ridiculous the better. Or some ideas for systems to run-I use the metroid system I linked and a lot of homebrew for example. Any generation of megaman would be good.

To Vienna then. This one follows Hailstorm Snowfox (15th), Electro Ocelot (2nd), Dante Vonder (14th), and Aleah Prog (14th).

Just as each came to their base, Ocelot meeting with Longshot Koala for the first time (and him just sorta staring into her soul as if judging how long she would avoid the scrapheap), Hailstorm heading to see Accel Orca, and Dante just arriving on base near the First. Aleah joins later. Of course, peace never lasts in such calm moments, and shortly, everything goes to hell as alarms begin to blare and wail. People rush about, forming up ranks to head in to face the Skyjammer, Dante ends up rushing over to the First's lines due to him having wanted to see Geneva before arriving at the 14th before things started. Koala, knowing that people are impatient to die, asked if anyone wanted to go to war, which had Ocelot and three upgraded Berets (one invested heavily into stealth systems, one comms, hacking and logistics, one having upgraded their sensors to be the best that they could have) head out with her. They move through the city taking targets of opportunity until finding the airstrip the Fourth had taken, roughly around when India took off, Seven swearing she was going to get her dumb ass killed but not seeming too broken up about it. The Berets split up, the comms officer staying to assist Seven and coordinate with other Hunters, the other two heading out to bring in any new developments and put their skillsets to use, while Ocelot was on Civilian Protection. Dante went along with the First, being there as melee support, and after linking up with the Fourth getting put in Seven's command, guarding the humans as a second line and being kept in reserve for any targets that would be too far out for Schwarz or Overclock to hit. Snowfox came in with the Fifteenth, setting up behind the Fourth but being separated due to his expertise being demolitions, making him ideal for a mission that the stealth expert just brought in.
>>
>>41410632
Ah, cool then. Going to wrap up Vienna then and save what I've got for a different time then.

>>41410679
Behind Maverick lines, a former 15th officer and traitor from the first War named Tank Wolverine was arranging artillery fire to fall on the heads of the Fourth's encampment, which he reported mainly because Seven didn't feel like dying. He also had someone who seemed invested in point defense and delaying, and a sniper-a good one, as they found out later. Schwarz and Overclock were busy with other encampments, and it was a great chance to get some rookies killed. Armed with this knowledge, he sends them out, hoping that they die horrible deaths but get the job done (as we know now). So, after a particularly heavy barrage from Cathode and Striker Cobra sends part of the line before them into disarray and they dash through, just before the beautiful sounds of allied artillery fill the air and the area they just vacated with some glorious explosions. Knowing fights would serve to delay them, they opted for stealth, making part of the mile long trek in a warzone as silently as possible. They bypassed several ambushes and traps, using the buildings and their surroundings (India occasionally getting sighted along the way), until they get to a bit past the intended mission starting point. As such, they end up near a quintet of Hoganmers setting up a trio of Aclanda, two berets providing oversight and gun support. Good test for their first real fight. Ocelot promptly swaps to her specialty, EMP spikes, and sprays the area down with them, paralyzing half the enemy as she hits cover. Snowfox fires off some missiles, shattering armor and doing some damage, and Dante just rushes in and begins firing off one liners and shredding and slagging them with his bare hands (and armor piercing bolter rounds shot from an arm mounted cannon after punching, lacking a buster). They mop up quickly, and head straight onwards, getting a few path choices.
>>
>>41410822
>mainly because Seven didn't feel like dying.
Shame.
>>
>>41410822
Now, the three paths were given a different boss to guard each, their goal being to give the cannons enough time to fire. They chose the one where my point defense boss, a modified Hoganmer named Phalanx, was in charge, and end up in a street full of a veritable shitload of mines, using a variant Ball de Voux as the source, as well as demolition packs rigged to drop buildings on anyone approaching and swarms of batton bones. Thinking quickly, Hailstorm begins targeting the demolition packs, dropping the buildings prematurely, and as they fall the party begins using them as stepping stones across the road of mines and death. This proceeds for an excessively long path (Phalanx does not fuck around when trapping a place) and some weapon mounted on or near the Skyjammer fires a few times, basically vaporizing part of the city with huge fuckoff beams in a straight line. So as they fought through and jumped hurdles, they eventually get to the halfway point, which is where we meet Aleah Prog.
See, Aleah was a late addition to the party. So her introduction was dealing with enemies trying to hijack and capture inbound officers as they teleported into Vienna, her shield drones and RIOT systems that allow her to hit above her weight class if someone tries hitting her with an energy attack making short work of her would be captors, but leaving her alone behind enemy lines. Trying to link up with the 14th again, she ended up coincidentally right with the others...which happened to be right in a hive of Bee Bladers. Just as the other three arrive, though, India in her fucking jet scream through, their dance partners of a fucking ton of missiles cutting the hive down to just two remaining, their ball de voux having been used to secure the line to this point. Now, I figured two bee bladers would be a challenge, but did not count on how effective a weapon electromagnetic spikes that can store and discharge electricity are against mechaniloids.
>>
>>41410872
Isn't it, though? Overclock and Dodo at least get some face time when the guy playing the spawn of a tank and a spider does charity work in Vienna.

>>41410918
Long story short, few spikes in sensitive tech later, some missiles, and some uses of RIOT Charge later, the minibosses die a horrible death, though Snowfox does get wounded along the way. This is when mortars begin raining down, as Tank Wolverine has decided it's his turn to play with them. So mortars that, based off the Hammerhead Missiles Wisent has, split into clusters of six bombs each, are being fired at ridiculous ranges at them, so they begin shooting and dodging as best they can as they bolt for their goal. Just as they get near and the shelling stops, there's a gleeful, mad laugh from above, and they then have to scatter as a tank plunges from the top of a nearby building, trying to take off someone's head, before shifting into a bipedal wolverine that looks like one of it's parents had been the Killdozer, long beam claws turning on, turrets mounted above them, and his mortar cannons on his back while a cigar is firmly planted in his teeth. Then a group of six shielding drones turns on, Phalanx hidden in a building somewhere, but Robin (a modified Disc Boy who is a sniper), despite his best efforts, getting spotted out of range of easy combat. So he gloats, calling them green, and does his best impression of being Fucking Invincible before scattering them with some fire after verbally sparring with Ocelot a bit. Which is when my last boss takes the stage, thanks to suggestions from Pandora beforehand due to emergency prep. So a harpoon bursts out of a nearby sewer grate, unfolding into a gripper that wraps around Aleah's arm and drags her into the sewers, and thus she comes face to face with the dread Grater Gator, streaked with the blood and oil of humans and hunters he had eaten today. Nasty little civilian model, he was, built to shred people apart if he gets a hand on them.
>>
>>41411068
However, this is still a bit of a mess to run. Mistakes were made on my end, and when Aleah won the initiative, she proceeded to apply a super taser (basically a stun rod designed to put out some serious damage) directly to his face, which paralyzed him and rendered him incapable of assaulting her. So Aleah grabs his shotgun (only concession to range), and blows his head off after sticking it in his mouth, then loots a beam knife that I didn't even have a chance to show off properly as well. Ah, well, c'est la vie. After, she heads up.
Meanwhile, the others have been having some bad times. Tank Wolverine tore into Dante and Snowfox a bit before Ocelot shot his drones, letting Dante actually hit, grapple, and begin burning him to slag as they struggled, also shooting him several times with his explosive rounds. Snowfox broke off to get into range to handle Robin, planning to deny the sniper the high ground by destroying it, before Phalanx burst through from behind the wall he had been hiding, covered in his own shield drones, and decking Snowfox in the face with a mace hand. Meanwhile, Ocelot took a nasty hit from Robin, before cloaking and moving to take out Phalanx, destroying his shields and then literally frying his brain. However, as Robin misses her again, he manages to hit Snowfox, actually dropping him. Enraged, Ocelot tears off to fight the sniper, who keeps shooting at the prideful huntress and aims to cripple both her and Dante. Aleah meanwhile comes out of the sewer and manages to stabilize Snowfox (medic class, seemed a good choice for someone who focuses on protecting people). However, Robin just ends up a motherfucker, streaming this for his Maverick band back home, just living it up as he realizes it's taking the combined efforts of four Officer class hunters to take his mass produced ass down. So as he's gloating, knowing things that they don't, he just keeps getting Ocelot angrier and angrier...
>>
>>41411214
>streaming this for his Maverick band back home, just living it up as he realizes it's taking the combined efforts of four Officer class hunters to take his mass produced ass down.
This is hilarious. Did you know he was going to be such a threat?
>>
>>41411214
So Ocelot, ranting at this point, begins shouting about how she is going to tear Robin's LIFE Cell out and eat it as he retreats further up the building, until he is forced to dodge a hit from Dante's explosive bullets by jumping off the building. Ocelot finally hits this modded Disc Boy with a spike, and he drops, but unlike everyone else ever hit by them is laughing, saying how he knows his line shall become the next step for the Disc Boys, how he is the first of many Fangs to sink into the Hunters. Then Ocelot claws his fucking heart out and crushes it. She was not a happy kitty.
From there, they move forward, finally hitting the cannons, and begin tearing into the technicians with abandon. Ocelot jacks a vehicle whose main weapon is missile launchers and begins firing into the air cavalry. Dante jacks a hover tank, which they use to effect their escape, as Aleah takes time to boost Snowfox's repair systems enough to keep him up if in critical condition so they don't have to drag him around, and he can still fire at least. So then they make their escape, having a running fight with the vessels above until the Skyjammer falls, the air cavalry rushing in to save the day. So the group returns back, battered and beaten, but victorious, and with some new toys and money for themselves.
>>
>>41411309
I had hopes, but didn't realize quite how effective he was going to be. I will admit I underestimated how effective he was going to be. Ocelot's next mission is to stop his design and others being mass produced with rail cannons that fire munitions based on her spikes and Dante's incendiary grenade bullets, reverse engineered by the Mav group tied to one of their arc's end bosses, just before Limited so they will miss that. Then we get to Doppler...

Right then. Here's the list of B rank hunts that are the grading hunt, as it were.

Razor Linnorm: Made to be a lumberjack before the makers realized that was a complete waste of time. Upgraded to wings, has yet to change his name. Kind of on the stupid side too, and mostly a joke hunt, he has kidnapped the heir to the British royal family because surely that will make them crown him as king! Mooks are mostly there because they feel sorry for him and try to keep him from being so stupid.

Thunder Mastiff: Head of the group that Robin was streaming to, the Fangs of Typhon. Electric hound whose howl can shatter stone, and can make electric storms that depend on his current charge.

Stealth Capuchin: Knife fighting monkey bastard admittedly taking stuff from Chaff Weasel and Spin Jagwire. Likes breaking people's eyes before carving them up.

King Kraken: experimental mechaniloid frame linked to a Gehirn (similar to how endoconstruction gives a normal hunter armor and a humanlike body under), giant and has been striking at coastal cities.

Cosec Ant: Member of the Claws of Echidna, she is little challenge on her own. However, she is never on her own, as she fills her industrial buildings with countless drones that she constantly churns out. Is building new line mavericks.

Catapult Lion: Specializes in crippling and capturing reploids, Launches himself at enemies with rail gun devices. Flighty as hell though.

Blast Bali: Made after a player talked about an exploding duck as a joke. Former construction worker gone mav, he is a demolitions specialist with a special concrete cannon and grenades.
>>
>>41413801
>Mooks are mostly there because they feel sorry for him and try to keep him from being so stupid.
This is oddly adorable. Properly loyal, exasperated minions are my favorite.
>>
>>41413801
Singing Flicker: Former pop sensation turned to crime when her fame dried up, had a brother called Rocking Robin. Player has just realized that she was a red herring. The real boss is:

Wendigo: Upgraded Geist, basically a homicidal skinwalker who takes far too much pleasure in what he does. Stealthy, duplicitous, and responsible for several Recon kills, recently having slain three different members of recon, two of which were part of an experimental group of three siblings. The third also technically died, but was recoverable.

Mirage Camel: Grizzled old sniper in the Gobi Desert, lost too many people working for one company that let him go, just tired and wants them to hurt too.

Captain Shrapnel and the Bilgerats: Air pirate with a ship that raids air transports, has lots of mass produced rat based reploids as his crew. Bases tend to be scrap yards as he has the same kind of attack as Morph Moth's string shot.

That's all their solo hunts, which they know about. One of the unknowns is:

Ethereal Hippo: Former 14th officer gone rogue, he uses clouds of special sensor dampeners that look like clouds of billowing fog to gain advantage against his foes, sneaking up on them like a ghost before tearing them apart with his lobeam teeth.
>>
>>41413847
I hope I can pull it off properly. There's also a betting pool going in the Fifth on how stereotypical this hunt is going to get, what with a dragon kidnapping a princess. Suffice to say there is good chance they will underestimate things.

“Well, today sucks horribly,” you mumble, “so why not literally back myself into a corner?” The catwalk you’re on is not the best place to stay, so you vault over the railing and land on a shipping container with a deep metallic echo. This gets the attention of the Pantheons on the floor, but you’re beyond their reach. You jump from container to container, making liberal use of your Dash systems and firing at the Pantheons with your busters to thin the herd.

The Pantheon Guardians are slow, lethargic, and overall not very effective. But they make up for all that in how easy they are to mass produce. Their armor is weak though, as your busters tear them apart. This is rather unusual as they aren’t normally this fragile. Perhaps these are what you call, “Stock Models”. Units made to pad out the budget and give a squad more presence, making them seem like a larger threat.

You make a final jump to the container in the corner where the bomb is located. There’s another screen with a timer that reads out just under eighteen minutes. Above the timer is another message, “Not bad with that last bomb, Maverick. Clever trick to fry the circuits like that. I’ll have to keep that in mind for the next person who wanders into my web. Oh, by the way, that’s a nice Beam Spear you have. I’d recognize it anywhere you know. Phalanx was my friend after all…”
>>
“Oh, fuck…” You grumble after reading the last line. “I better hurry!” You psych yourself up as you rip off the paneling and build up a small charge, about the same as you did for the last one. After you fry it, the screen goes off and you turn your back to it just in time to see a white orb flying towards you faster than you can react.

The ball hits you in the chest and you feel a shock run through your system. The damage is minor, but you’re left with a strange web-like substance stuck to your chest. It doesn’t seem to have any other properties, but might be a problem if it gets caught in your hands, feet, or face.

There’s no follow up, but the Pantheons are getting restless. From here you can see the loading dock, the front entrance, and the skylight you entered from. “Hey, Cell,” Mareff says quietly, “Your shields are pretty low. I could give you a boost if you want!”

>You saw the trajectory of the web-shot, might find Tarantion over there.
>There was a bomb at the loading dock, take care of that first.
>You should try and find the other two bombs. The Front Entrance might have some clues.

“I appreciate the offer, but I’m good for the time being,” you tell the Nurse. “I’ll let you know if I need you.”

“Okay, just be careful,” her voice shakes a little with worry. You feel a little bad about it, but at the same time, she’ll die if you let her.

“Now then,” you look towards where you believe the web shot to have originated from, “he’s probably not there anymore.” Next you look at the loading dock. “I know there’s one there. He’ll likely be waiting for another potshot, but I need to disarm it.”

You stay on top of the shipping containers as you run, dash, jump, and fire at the Pantheons. There’s a sizable dent to their numbers, but there’s still far too many for you to feel comfortable being on the same level as them.

When you get to the bomb, it’s sitting just a bit before the dock, but there’s a web-like cage with electricity arcing between strands. Out of curiosity, you toss a piece of scrap metal that was lying on the ground into the cage.

The chunk of metal gets sent flying with an audible crack. You couldn’t even keep track of the metal as it flew away.

“Great…” You groan as you weigh your options. Walking through it won’t be wise, even with your Electrical affinity. It’s unlikely that your sword or spear will have much effect either. “Hmmm,” you raise your busters and fire at the ceiling, causing chunks of dirt, cement, and metal to fall, taking the webbing with it. A few pieces land on the bomb, but its sturdy metal plating keeps it from being damaged.
>>
Once again, there’s a message displayed on the screen. “Impressive. You have accessed the third bomb, and are nearly done. I guess I will have to step up my game. You are a most interesting prey, however. Most would flee upon sighting my bombs, others would cower upon being hit by my web, even more would give up at seeing my Web-Cage.” The timer displays less than fourteen minutes.

You proceed to work your magic on the bomb, using it as cover from a possible attack. And, whether by luck or malicious intent, you are left alone as the screen crackles and breaks.

As you prepare to search for the last two bombs, you hear the sound of metal on cement. Scrapping, but at the same time walking. He’s close…

>Stay low, use the crates and containers as cover.
>Go up high, find him, end him.
>Focus on finding the remaining bombs, but stay on guard.

“Screw this, I’m no one’s prey!” You growl to yourself as you climb up on top of the shipping containers and start building up a full charge in your railguns. Up at the highest point, aside from the catwalk, you survey the building. Just barely visible in a container is another bomb. If Tarantion doesn’t show himself, you have your next target. It’s also close to the entrance, could be good for a quick escape.

You slowly scan the room when all of a sudden your radio crackles on. “-ko! Cell Iko, this is Lorelei, there is a large amount of interference, but I have been able to temporarily boost our signal. Hurry up with whatever you’re doing! That Mechaniloid I mentioned earlier is on its way!”

“Dammit! Lorelei, I read you,” you respond hurriedly, not wanting Tarantion to catch you gabbing. “Tarantion has timed explosives rigged throughout the warehouse. I’ve managed to disarm three of five. He’s been watching me, leaving messages at the bombs to taunt me. The fucker is-“
>>
“RIGHT BEHIND YOU!” A hoarse, crackly voice screams as you’re tackled off the container and right to the floor. On the way down you’re wrapped by four spindly, brown, multi-segmented legs as you feel two pricks in your spine and a jolt of electricity flow through you.

You collide with the ground and attempt to roll, causing your attacker to disengage and attempt to skitter away. But not before you fire off a volley of shots in his direction, giving him the equivalent to a Reploid haircut.

As you rise to your feet you hear him laugh, sounding similar to someone who spent the majority of their life smoking. “I should have known you would resist my probes. As a fellow Sparker, you’d need more than two to take down.”

“Cell!” For a second, you can’t tell if it was Mareff or Lorelei, but then it dawns on you that it might have been both of them.

“I’m fine!” You assure them. You’re not fine. Whatever he did, you’re feeling slower than before. Mentally, you’re fine, just pissed. Physically, you hurt and have nearly depleted your shields. But for some reason, your body is responding a second or two slower than your brain.

“I’m going to enjoy this, Maverick!” He taunts, his voice echoing around you. “I watched you from the moment you woke those Gli-Eyes. I lured them there to alert me if anyone tried to use that Trans-Server. And now, my pet is on its way to play.” He howls in laughter, his raspy voice grating your ears.

“Cell, can you hear me? I thi… necti… ll?” Lorelei breaks up again, probably won’t be able to rely on her support this time.

>What now?
>>
>>41418660
Well, can we see Tarantion? If so, plasma to try and flush him out into some assault or another while we aim where we think he'll go with the rail cannons. Maybe mutter to Mareff that if we use her she dies, since she's likely going to do something stupid for her soon.

Hope I won't regret this.

Tarantion has ducked behind the crates and is skittering around at an annoyingly loud rate. “God damn it all.” You decide to make your way to the next bomb. “Mareff, do you know what happens if you use your power?”

“I get integrated into your body, your DNA, your soul as it may be. I know what happens.” She answers quietly. “But, you’re hurt. You nee-“

“I’m fine,” you insist. “If you know what happens, you shouldn’t be so willing to throw your life away.” She doesn’t respond. “Look, just don’t do anything stupid, okay?”

“Alright.”

You break off into a sprint, shoving some Pantheons to the ground in the process. They’re slowly congregating onto your position. “Great, an assload of Pantheons, a big ass mechaniloid on its way, some kind of stealth trapper, and a devilishly attractive reploid. Sounds like some kind of cheap action movie.” You say to Mareff, trying to be confident about the situation.

The container with the bomb is perched on top of another, but the door is open wide enough for you to jump right in. Inside you see the other side is wide open, so you close the door behind you and use your gladius to weld it shut, leaving only one way in and one way out.

The screen once again has a message for you. “You’re fast for a scrapper. My pet will be here any second, and you’re running out of time. Tell me child, are you afraid? I kill you. Then I will integrate your weapons into my pet. After that you ask? Does it matter? You won’t be here to find out.” You glance at the timer and see that it has only ten minutes left! Whether that is plenty of time or not enough, you aren’t sure any more.

For the fourth time, you repeat the process of disarming the bomb. No interruptions, no tricks, nothing.

For a moment, it feels far too quiet. You don’t hear the raspy laughter or the footsteps of the Pantheons. Then you hear it, loud mechanical limbs moving in rapid succession. Then you feel it, the wall of the container gets torn open, shaking the whole thing, nearly toppling it to the ground.

You find yourself face to face with a giant, rusted spider with guns, lasers, missiles, beam-weapons. All grafted onto its now mangled body. It has managed to retain its original structure, an unmistakable one at that.

“Fucking spiders…” You curse as you make a split second decision.

For the record, Bospider is one of those bosses that I had so much freaking trouble with in MMX1. Aside from Armored Armadillo, it's THAT ONE BOSS that I have far too much to bother with in a Buster Only Run...

Blow it's damn head off!

“I AM NOT DEALING WITH YOU!” You shout as you fire your Railguns right into the Bospider’s open mouth

You’re blinded by the resulting explosion, as well as forcibly thrown through at least two shipping containers. When you regain your sight, you see the container you were just in has been blown in two, the bomb is sparking profusely, has not blown up just yet. The Bospider is in multiple pieces, legs are falling through the air, its armaments have been slagged, its rusted body is no more.

You breathe a sigh of relief over that. Bospiders, in their peak at least, are meant to be extremely tough. Given that they are glorified trash compactors, you feel that they are far too sturdy for their job.

Your respite is short lived as you hear a blood curdling scream and are tackled from above. For the first time you get a good look at your target. Terrorvolt Tarantion. A Tarantula based Mutos Reploid. His armor appears to be lighter than yours and painted electric yellow on his torso and head. The legs are brown, as is the area around his eyes and mandibles. His legs are thin, but flexible and each has a type of prong on the end as well as a three fingered hand for gripping. Which he is currently using to pin you down by your arms. His mandibles are clacking menacingly.

“How dare you destroy my pet!? DO YOU UNDERSTAND THE TIME AND EFFORT I PUT IN TO MAKING HIM?” He howls in rage as he stabs you with one of his free legs, sending a jolt of electricity through your body.

Your Railguns are free to fire, but you have no charge built up at this point. You might be able to force him off by firing an uncharged shot. Or you could try to overpower him, he doesn’t feel that heavy, nor does his grip on you feel especially strong.

Any chance of getting the Gladius at a good angle where igniting it would cut into one of his arms?

>Start charging the guns, but force him off by hand!
We've got a gladius for situations just like this one.
>>
“You know, I’m getting real tired of your shit!” You holler back as you push against his grip and build up a charge in your Railguns. “I may not be designed to fight in close quarters, but, neither are you!” With one mighty push you manage to release your right arm, which you quickly secure your gladius with.

Tarantion tries to retreat, but you’re too quick for him. You ignite the blade and cut clean through one of his arms and leave a large gash in his chest. He hisses in both pain and rage as he spits a glob of web at you from his mouth, catching your hand and gladius. You turn your other hand into a buster in response and start firing as he retreats. Multiple shots scour his back as you give chase. The webbing prevents you from stowing your blade and using that buster, limiting your shots per second.

Tarantion dives into a shipping container only to find it up against a wall, trapping himself. As you close in he starts spraying webs along the only opening, creating a wall of electric webs. You try to slash through it with your blade, but the electricity interferes with the elemental chip in it, causing it to cut off abruptly.

“So, who’s the prey now?” You ask, feeling better about this situation than you have since you first stepped in. “It’s time to end this game of cat and mouse. “

You know the secret to shooting fish in a barrel? It's not the shot itself that kills the fish. It's the shockwave generated by the blast. Either way, this won't be pretty for you.

Let's see...knowing guys like this and how one pc is remarkably similar to a cross between Tarantion and his pet, he probably can make a way out. That said,

“Hey, Tarantion, you know the secret to shooting fish in a barrel? It's not the shot itself that kills the fish. It's the shockwave generated by the blast. Either way, this won't be pretty for you.” You decide to spin up to seventy-five percent of a charge. You really do not like this guy.

You ground yourself properly, aim down the center of the container, and fire!

The scene plays out crystal clear to you. You see the electricity from your shots arc into the webbing, and consequently the metal container, drained of their elements the metal slugs that you fired tear through the webs like a beam saber through butter. The slugs, trailing webs, fly through the air and connect with Tarantion’s chest, blowing his remaining limbs off and causing them to bounce around his prison as electricity arcs between them and the walls.

This all happens in the span of a second, but it feels so satisfying. Over the ringing in your ears and the bouncing limbs you hear a series of loud beeps. You look up to the catwalk and see the bomb flashing red for a moment before it turns green, and then the light goes out.

“Cell? Can you hear me? I’m not picking up that mechaniloid signature.! Cell?” Your radio snaps to life and you hear Lorelei’s voice.

“Cell here, Tarantion has been defeated. The bombs appear to have deactivated upon his death, and all that is left are a bunch of low grade Pantheon Guardians.” You report, feeling immense pride. “Can you have a squad meet me out here? I could use the help clearing the area.”

“Don’t worry about that, Lynx is inbound. He can handle the cleanup,” she tells you with a warm tone. “Come on home.”

So. That was a surprisingly long run for this thread. When we started this mission, I had wanted to do it all in one run, straight through the night, as long as it took. Sadly, internet problems happened. But it gave me more time to think about how I wanted Tarantion to act, as well as how he fought and one thing in particular.

Originally, the fifth and final bomb was supposed to be in his chest. But I couldn't think of a way, given our current set up, that we could defeat him with out:

A)Blowing him up entirely and losing out on his weapons/equipment
B)Defusing him and rendering him unexplodable
C)Not making the fight seem cheap when he would inevitably try to "TAKE YOU WITH ME" or something like that.

We could have ignored him and tried for all the bombs, but that would have just chipped away at our already negligible LIFE and SHIELDS.

Also, Please note that his webs DRAINED the electricity from your railguns AND fucked with your Fire-Sword. Just something to keep in mind next time.

Any questions, comments, stories, tangents? I'll try to answer what I can, but I've been up for almost 20 hours straight.

So, also thought of swag in that time? I tend to have to keep a list of ideas at the ready. Like I would probably make the webs a sort of variable ammo for the rail guns, explosive shells that cover a wide area.

we need to give our spear and Ice mod, cover all our bases

With out augmenting the gear we get, we can get a sort of Web-Slinger that you can use to grapple enemies, climb up buildings, and bind enemies. It's also Got the same properties as when Tarantion used it. So it's Electric Element, and will absorb/redirect Ranged Electric attacks that pass through a wall you make out of it.

There's also his Shock Probe Legs which can be used as javelins, electro-whips, and NUN-CHUCKS!

And then there's his mandible (Which he never got to use) where we can graft it to our wrists and create a taser you can punch people with.

We'll talk other possibilities next thread. When we have Genius Mole go over other options!

>Putting Ice one the spear
>Leaving your Busters as the only Neutral Element
Well, The busters are pretty useful. And the fact that there isn't any mercy invincibility for the enemies to exploit works in their favor too.

I do like the sound of those. Especially being Spider Iko.

Everything sounds awesome NAC. Sadly we can't have all the things. At least I don't think so. Just first dibs, right?
