>You are a villager girl named Ellen from a small village in the nation of Neir, on the continent of Teege. As a member of the local militia/guard, you were trained in swordplay. Your fighting style is best compared to the mercenary class, though you're officially considered a knight of Neir.

>You have recently been made a member of the prince's personal guard. In a short time you will travel to another country to investigate an assassination attempt, but that time is not now.

>The questmasters are Octoling (myself), and Grandflaw. There's no particular rhyme or reason to who posts when, and sometimes one of us might not appear all.

>Character Death is always a possibility (this is Fire Emblem after all), but your actions can very easily influence who lives and who dies.

>Voting periods will last an average of fifteen minutes, but this may be increased, decreased, or generally changed at any given moment based on voter turnout.

Woot best FE quest!, Also i found some pics for Ellen, Do you want me to post em?

"First thing tomorrow morning," Yvette told you last night, "you will meet with me. I will wake you up myself this one time to escort you, simply so I can show you where you're expected to meet me."

You recall thinking that was a nice enough gesture, but even before it can be considered "first thing in the morning," a harsh but familiar voice removes you from your slumber.

Yvette stands over your bed, arms folded. "I told you I would wake you up. Now, get yourself ready and come with me."

You had a bit of trouble with your right ring and pinky fingers, namely that they weren't there and your hand wasn't terribly fond of that. You're a tough customer, though, so you were able to get a serviceable amount of sleep anyway.

A few of the other girls in the knights' quarters look annoyed with having been woken up, but also very used to Yvette doing this.

Cheryl is already gone, not that you'd really had reason to acknowledge that she was there that night. Morning people.

A smaller-framed girl with medium-length brown hair, who looks about your age, shoots you a look of sympathy, only for Yvette to turn around and start barking at her to get up too.

After you and this girl are suited up for the training you both assumed you're in for, Yvette leads you both down some hall.

You get a bit closer to the girl, whispering an introduction as you both followed Yvette.

She doesn't respond at first, aside from a small noise of acknowledgement.

Before you can possibly ask another question, Yvette unlocks a door to a courtyard, decently-sized but smaller than could be able to accommodate a small party such as this one. Training weapons are stored neatly in several labeled boxes.

Yvette stands in front of you both, arms folded behind herself, before sternly (but at a more reasonable volume) beginning to instruct you both to do various warm-up exercises.

You grab a training sword, Zoe going for a lance. If she's a pegasus knight that makes sense, but you're curious to see how she works on foot.

Fate conspires for you to get a very good look, since the very next thing Yvette says is, "first things first, you two will test each other. Avoid seriously injuring one another, and I'll tell you when to stop."

Another "yes, ma'am" leaves both of your mouths, before Yvette steps off to the side, watching intently as Zoe spins her lance around idly before holding it upright. She looks displeased. The faux-sword feels lighter than your usual fare in your left hand.

A moment of intense silence, before Yvette utters two syllables: "Begin."

>>
>>41400745
>A. Take a swing at Zoe
We are offensive
>>
>>41400717
The funny thing about her is, she's fast for a fatty.

> Her Strength, Skill, and Defense all grow at a slower pace for an Armor, while her Speed, Luck, and Resistance growths are all quite high to excellent, making Meg's growths overall more akin to that of a typical Pegasus Knight. If one trains Meg, her Speed will frequently be higher than her Strength and Defense until it caps and her other stats catch up because of the low Speed caps of her class. After promoting at least once and capping Speed and then eventually Luck, Meg benefits from gaining levels through Bonus Experience, which helps raise her stats with lower growths such as Strength and Defense more effectively at that point. Of all the potential Marshalls, Meg will usually have the highest Speed and Resistance if raised, having the highest caps for Marshalls in those categories by 1 and 2 points respectively.
>>
>>41400745
>B. Let her attack and try to dodge/counterattack

We gotta worry about her lance's reach first before we attack.

>A. Take a swing at Zoe

>>41400745
According to the weapon triangle, we're at a disadvantage. The fact that she can simply spin around her lance as if it were nothing means that we can't really go for the same old dodge-and-counter they've previously used on bulky axe fighters and such.
I believe the best way to fight her would be to quickly close the distance between us (but be ready for kick or anything else used to recreate the desired distance for the lance user.) while deflecting any blow of hers.
>C. Let her attack and try to deflect her blow

Your opponent clearly knows how to swing her weapon around, and swords hold inherent disadvantages against lances, spears and their ilk. You can't just rush into this as you always do, you realize.

You both draw closer to each other, you allowing Zoe to attempt to strike you, swinging your sword in an attempt to deter her and her weapon's courses.

She looks surprised as your sword knocks into her own lance, which quickly flies out of her hands.

"Zoe, that was an underwhelming performance," Yvette says, quickly hiding her surprise under a stern expression, "pick your lance up. Don't think you'll get out of this that easily"

Zoe grumbles, doing so.

Yvette neutrally says, "I see you have some basic awareness of how to fight lance-wielding opponents, and you have displayed your aptitude in teamwork fairly well, but Zoe here is still struggling in that regard."

Zoe doesn't say anything in response to this, simply looking away in embarrassment as Yvette continues, "so for this next session, I expect you to lead her well. Coordinate yourselves and try to disarm me. Fight like the fate of the prince is at stake until I say you can stop. You won't be able to harm me with these at your levels, so let me see 'all you've got.'"

She equips her training sword and says "begin" once more.

Zoe is content to let you apparently take the lead, trying to cross blades with Yvette yourself and create an opening. She is still a significantly better swordfighter than yourself, and you quickly find yourself being pushed back. You call Zoe's name when she doesn't appear to be taking the potential opening for herself.

This alerts both women to your intent. Zoe, finally getting it together, takes a shot at Yvette, but shouting out a glaringly obvious instruction like that also informed her of the impending Zoe. She's able to pull away and swing, knocking Zoe's lance out of her hand once more with a hard enough strike to her hand.

You know that now is the time to strike, but are certain an ordinary attack will be parried by the paladin.

So you tackle her instead.

She looks shocked, to say the least, and while you don't bring her to the ground you manage to get her to do she expected you to do: drop her sword.

Adding to the drama of the scene, you shout with mock-anguish, "Zoe... The prince, you have to save the imaginary Garrus!"

Surprisingly enough, she actually looks like she's trying not to laugh as she approaches a practice dummy, addressing it with all the formality one would address a prince with.

Yvette easily pushes you away before stammering, "points for originality, anyway. Of course, swords are far from all you'll ever find enemies wielding. Up next, I'll be using lances. Try again to work together and disarm me."

"C'mon, we're both young knights, and I could've sworn I caught you enjoying my company earlier."

Another smile from Zoe, "alright, if you insist." She chuckles a bit when she says that, and while sweet, it sounds a bit alien from her lips, as though she's not one to let herself crack up often.

Need anything from our quarters before we head out? Actually, do we need anything as well?

Time to find a nice tavern!

Would anyone think to bring gold to an early-morning training session?

guess what
>>
>>41404513
Pretty sure we'd atleast have some coin on us, and our sword is probably always on us, Even in sleep

>>41404513
Then I guess we'll go with this to go get some cash.

You know what, assuming yes and treating it as such. Locked in and the like.

"Wait. If we're going to be eating while we're out there, I should... Probably actually get my money."

You're glad you remembered that, and you and Zoe make a quick trip back to your living quarters to grab some of your things.

It's a quick trip, and you and Zoe are quick to find some tavern delightfully free of familiar farmhands.

Your wallets' fullnesses are the limits for you and your new friend's choice in food. If her and Cheryl are any indication, their entire family is as voracious as yourself.

(sorry if this is too short I wound up accidentally closing my tab and losing a much more detailed post)

Zoe doesn't have much to say about the city itself. It's nice enough.

When asked about what she'll be doing as a knight, she tells you, "I was going to be serving Princess Salia with my oldest sister. At least that way my pegasus will be able to enjoy Tarvos Valley after all this desert business the princess is probably going to get brought along for."

You start by asking a bit about Heim, especially since you're going to be there soon. "Sorry if this is easy stuff," you add jokingly, "total hick and all."

"Well, it's... mostly desert, with a few big oases that were apparently the basis of the towns... I think. Anyway, it's the perfect sort of place for magic-users, and that's probably why there's a Mage General. For some reason magical ability just sort of lets a person travel faster in sand."

Next, you ask about the royal figure she's going to be working with. "You know much about the princess?" you ask.

"Monica doesn't say the nicest things about her, but... She doesn't really say nice things about most people. I'm sure she's alright."

All this talk makes one thing clear to you: she might have a lot to get off her chest. You decide to take the chance at being the one unloaded upon by asking what she thinks about her family, about being a knight.

"I've... already told you why I'm a knight, haven't I? It was because it's a tradition."

You shake your head, "you're avoiding my point, Zoe."

Your table goes silent, both of you lost in your thoughts among the busy crowd of the tavern.

Finally, she speaks, "Monica wasn't always so cold. It's a wonder to me that Cheryl is still so upbeat, and sometimes when I think of both of my older sisters possibly losing so much while serving... It's upsetting."

>A. Then why follow tradition?
>B. Just thank her for saying this.

(again with the accidentally shitting on my own tabs)

"Then why keep up tradition, if you really have that much disdain for being a knight?" You ask, curiously.

"I..." Zoe looks like she's having trouble saying what's on her mind, but finally speaks up after awhile, "I don't want to disappoint my sisters. I mean, ever since the war with Dain, Monica has done so much for us all, and Cheryl is just happy to be around people even in dark times, and... I just... I don't even know why I'm telling you this. We met this morning..!"

"It seemed like something was bothering you when we were training, so I was concerned. Does it... feel better to have let some of that out?"

Zoe nods, "thanks for just... listening."

You end up spending the rest of the day together, and next morning Yvette notes the extreme improvement in her two current proteges. She still wipes the floor with you both when it comes to sparring, but the improvement is there.

You still haven't heard back about when the king's gonna send you all to the Heim, but you know you'll find out when it's time.

Thanks for playing as always, guys. Follow on twitter @qmgrandflocto for update information.
I'll be sticking around to answer questions for awhile if anyone wants.
