Your entire body aches, but nothing's broken. You're alive. You look around at the others in the wagon. Sarah, of course, is perfectly fine; she kept out of combat.Ryan is sitting up straight, occasionally coughing, and Alsmoth's leg is in a makeshift cast. You look for Fa'hir; he's not present."Where's Fa'hir?" you ask, sitting up."Fa'hir died before we could get to him," Alsmoth says. "That was nearly two days ago. We were beginning to wonder if you would wake up before we reach Gideon.""He was a good man," Ryan says. "A good soldier. But that's done with now. We're dragon slayers.""A title I didn't think I would ever have," you say. Then you lightly rub your temples. Since you woke up, you've had many things running through your head. You think it's the Hist. That is to say that you've leveled up. (See Character Sheet)Speaking of your sword, last time you saw it, it was lodged into the side of a dragon. You look around for a moment and find it, sheathed, on the floor. Removing it from the sheath makes it clear that there is some sort of enchantment on it. The blade vibrates in your hand, and when you remove it, light is given off by the blade. Faint sparks of electricity conflict with the binding of the sheath, but it's nothing serious; you can still draw the sword."Mister Dryton," Sarah says. "Are you okay?""I'm fine, but my head hurts a little bit.""When we were fighting that dragon, something happened to you. It wasn't like any magic I'd ever seen before. Most people who drink the sap can't handle it. You must be something special.""Perhaps we'll find out more as we travel through the Marsh. What happened to my sword?""It appears that something happened when it was lodged into the heart of the Wamasu. Perhaps my magic, combined with its blood and your new abilities resulted in the sword acting as some kind of soul gem. It now radiates light and whatever the blade touches is scorched by lightning. It is a very powerful enchantment, and one that I have not seen before.""Perhaps it is from a lost time, when the dragons were more common. And that Wamasu, did it die? Please tell me that we took some proof of its slaying.""It's dead, alright," Ryan says, coughing a bit. "Bastard killed Fa'hir, broke Alsmoth's leg and cracked at least three of my ribs." He continues coughing. "Sarah, can't you do anything about my ribs and Alsmoth's leg?""It's beyond me," Sarah replies. "Only time will heal those wounds.""Look on the bright side, Ryan," Alsmoth says. "We're sure to be awarded by the Emperor for being injured in service, by killing a dragon as well. We should see a pay increase at the very least."Despite your injuries, you only feel slightly sore. Maybe the Hist sap has prevented you from being seriously injured. Maybe it was Hermaeus Mora, who did say that you were under his protection despite you choosing not to help him. You should probably see an Argonian shaman to have his influence removed from your soul. Then again, the protection of a Daedric Prince could be useful. You consider that as you ride.>"How about a game of cards while we wait?">"Driver, how far along are we?">Read the last chapter of your book.>Attempt to use the power of the Hist as you did before on your sword.

>>41416361>>41416422You open up your book and flip to the last chapter. Chapter 6, Races and Culture of Argonia."The current races living in Argonia are the Argonians, the Naga, and the Hist.Argonians are unrelated to both men and mer and have been said to descend from the Hist. They are intelligent and specialize in guerilla warfare.Naturally, Argonians are immune to many diseases and have the innate ability to breathe both air and water. In wartime, they have been known to hide underwater and drag unsuspecting enemies under the depths to drown. They respect intelligence and cunning above all else when it comes to traits one could find in a man or mer.The Hist have been covered in previous chapters, so we will talk about the Naga.Naga are relatives to the Argonians, but may not be true Argonians themselves. Unlike the Argonians, who closely resemble lizards, the Naga are snakelike. They are tall, black-scaled, and more animalistic than their Argonian brothers. The Naga rarely leave the Black Marsh and even more rarely will associate with non-Argonians. They have been labelled as thugs and drug smugglers, though this is not necessarily the case; a few Naga have been known to have a positive impact on the Black Marsh. The Wamasu and Lilmothiit, though now long considered to be extinct, are of some interest. Wamasu are swamp dragons without wings, and it is said that electricity runs through their veins. The Lilmothiit are considered relatives of the Khajiit and are vulpine in appearance, with traits similar to both Argonians and Khajiit -- though they have not been seen for a long, long time..."(cont)
>>41416706"... Finally, we will end this book by speaking of the Dark Brotherhood. It is an assassin's organization which is centered around Sithis worship, and is held in high regard by the Argonians. Argonians born under certain star signs will be trained from birth to join the organization. Much respect is given to the Dark Brotherhood by the Argonians, and by this author."You close the book, filled with knowledge of the Black Marsh. (Active Effect: Argonian Diplomacy. Knowledge of the Black Marsh makes you especially good at negotiating and communicating with Argonians.)>"Driver, how long before we reach Gideon?">"How about a game of cards?">Talk to someone in the wagon.>Drink your wine.

For the time being, how about a game of cards?""Sure. Better than sitting around here and moping," says Alsmoth."I'll deal us in," says Sarah. "Same game as last time?""Sounds good to me," you say.Sarah deals you all in. It becomes apparent after only a few rounds that she's exceptionally good at the game, easily being the first to empty her hand. You're able to follow, but it's not even close. She's too good.>"You're damn good at this. Where did you learn?">"Ah, a lucky hand. Let's see how the next game goes.">"Let's make this more interesting. I'll wager my wine.">Write-in

Sarah maintains a steady lead, but it seems like Ryan really wants your wine.As the game goes on, Sarah completes first and goes to grab the wine, but Alsmoth reminds her that finishing first isn't the only way to win the game. After a few more rounds, Ryan is the last to finish, but after a minute of adding up the point totals for each player, it reveals that he had the most points by the end of the game."Damn trickster," Alsmoth says. "That's a coward's way to win!""Call me a coward, but I've got half a bottle of wine." Ryan grins."Approaching Gideon!" The driver yells.>Stay in the cart until you reach an inn>Get out and look around

>>41417791>>41417866You get out of the wagon. Sarah, being the most knowledgeable in Argonian daily life, comes with you.Gideon is a small city with a stone wall around it. From what you know of Elven architecture, it seems that this place was initially inhabited by mer of some sort.It is slightly after mid-day, possibly two or three in the afternoon. There are Argonians everywhere; you've never seen this many of them in one place."Travelers from Cyrodil!" one of them cries out. He's particularly well dressed. "Welcome to Gideon! We were not expecting anyone from the Empire. What brings you here? Business or pleasure?""Actually, we're just stopping by to rest and replenish our supplies. We're heading to Blackrose.""Blackrose, a fine place. Used to be a prison, you know, but it's very well kept now as a city.""What's your name?""I am Finnegan, adopted into the Breton house of Lariat. I've recently come back to the Black Marsh to experience my ancestral homeland. And you?""Eligar Dryton. My companion here is Sarah.""Oh, delightful. Are you two married?""No, it's nothing like that!" Sarah says. "I've been tasked to give him advice about the Black Marsh. I lived here once.""Well, visiting from Cyrodil, you should see the chieftan. He lives in the large building at the West end of town. I've got to continue my shopping, but please, enjoy your stay!" Finnegan scurries off.>Visit the market square>Go to find a shaman>Go to visit the chieftan>Go to a tavern/inn>Take the head of the Wamasu with you (optional, with any of the previous options)
>>41418025>dragon head to chieftan
>>41418025>>Go to visit the chieftanAnd bring the dragon head
>>41418068>>41418105You remove the swamp dragon's head from the wagon. Ryan tells you that he and Alsmoth are going to see the local shaman, hoping that their injuries can be healed. It isn't a long walk to the West side of town, and it's immediately obvious which building is the chieftan's. There are several Hist trees growing around it, and the building itself is at least three stories taller than any of the other ones in town. The building is polished white marble; it reminds you of the White-Gold Tower. An Argonian guard stands at the door."Is that...?" The guard looks at the head in your hands. "I don't know who you are, but the chieftan will surely want to see this.""Alright, then, show us in," you say. The guard complies, leading you into the main room.A long, black carpet leads up to a throne on the first floor. Behind it is a grand staircase leading to a second floor. A heavily armored Argonian sits on the throne. He looks to be about your age, with various scars across his face. It occurs to you that, had you not become a Moth Priest, you might have those same scars."Welcome, visitors. I assume you're the Moth Priest heading to Blackrose." His voice is loud and rough, probably from shouting battle orders so often. "You may approach."You walk up to the chieftan and hold up the head of the swamp dragon. "We encountered some trouble on the road here. Fortunately, we were able to solve a problem you may have had to face -- but at the cost of one of my men's lives.""You bring me the head of a Wamasu and say that only one of your men died in the attack?""Yes, and he was a good man. Honorable and stoic, a good soldier.""And how was it that you were able to survive, and kill this beast?">"I have consumed the sap of the Hist.">"No doubt due to the great training that the Empire gives its soldiers.">"It was only due to the help of my companion here, a court mage of the White-Gold Tower."
>>41418385>>"I have consumed the sap of the Hist."May regret saying this but, hopefully it doesnt back fire. (Also get the feeling that there is an argonian equivalent of a dragonborn)

>>41418477>>41418523>>41418569"I was drawn to drink of the Hist's sap, and having been blessed, was able to overcome the beast."The chieftan stares at you, wide-eyed. "Impossible! No non-Argonian has found any benefit from the Hist in years! It happens but once every few generations, and even then only if the person just happens to come to the Marsh and drink the sap!""I have been granted certain powers since consuming the sap," you reply. "Is this not normal?""We Argonians do not gain such abilities, but non-Argonians such as yourself who successfully are blessed by the Hist have been known to have certain powers. Some can read minds. Others can bend wills. Still others have been granted council with the gods for a brief time. What can you do?">Demonstrate your ability by making the dragon's head float.>"I can move things, like with telekinesis, but to a much more dramatic level.">"I'm not sure what all of the powers are, but I have been able to use non-magical telekinesis.">"I will gladly tell you, but I need your help first."

>>41418946>>41418986You place the dragon's head on the ground and raise your hands. The dragon's head, with some focus, begins to float off of the ground. You then lower your hands and the head floats back down to the ground."I haven't had much practice. Perhaps one of your shamans could give me more direction.""A fine talent, Hist-blessed. For as long as you and your company stay in Gideon, you will be able to train under the local shaman, Nayrut, free of charge.""I thank you, chieftan.""My name is Pariah. You and your friends may speak to me as equals."You bow slightly, as is customary for a Moth Priest.>"Could you suggest an inn? My friends are injured and must rest.">"If it wouldn't be too much of a bother, could you have me outfitted with heavier armor?">"I have another request. There you will find a bed to sleep in, food and drink, and entertainment.""I thank you, Pariah. But I have one more request." You retrieve a letter from your pocket. "I took this from a Thalmor on my way here to Argonia." He reads it."This has grave consequences for your people, I'm sure. But you can't expect the Argonians to get involved. We are an independent province.""I know. But, my friends and I are on our way to Blackrose on very important business, as you know. There is an Elder Scroll there, and it is my honor-bound duty to retrieve it. I ask only that you send an ambassador and a small group of Argonians to keep him safe, so that this message can be delivered. The Empire would surely look favorably on this city, and all of Argonia, if you would do so.""Then let it be done. It is a simple task, and one that I would not deny to the Hist-blessed. Tonight, there will be a celebration in your honor, and over the death of this Wamasu. It will give you a good opportunity to learn more about the culture you've become part of.""Thank you, Pariah.">"For now I must meet my friends. Nayrut, the shaman, will be able to tell you more about your kind.""And anything about Gideon?""Of course. Our city was founded by the Ayleid long ago. Over many centuries, it became a place for the Argonians. This was not necessarily through force, but through the Marsh itself rejecting the Ayleid. Our people had never known such cities before then; these walls were foreign to us. But we grew and learned, and were able to learn to read their books and learn their secrets of magic, alchemy, and history. We integrated this with our own knowledge and became one of the strongest holds in the Black Marsh, and to this day Gideon has not fallen. We are proud of our heritage here, and continue to try to use alchemy to better preserve shipments of goods throughout Tamriel, though we've had little success. Still, we are proud and strong!">"Thank you for your hospitality. He lives in a hut on the South side of town. Not the Ayleid make, but traditional Argonian construction. You knock on the door, seeing that the wagon is outside of the hut."Come in!" A raspy voice calls out. You open the door. The hut is dark and filled with alchemical ingredients. An alchemy lab much larger than the normal ones you see is set up alongside the wall to your left, and there are vials and potions everywhere. Books are scattered along the floor and shelves alongside bones and herbs."Ah, the pink armor. You must be Hist-blessed, yes?"A scrawny Argonian with deep green scales is in front of you. He's old, with a hunched back, and is wearing brown tattered robes. He supports himself with a wooden staff that has an animal's skull on the top and feathers connected to it by twine."Friends of yours are here in the healing pool. In the back room. >>41421960>>41422001>>41422051The dark aspect of yourself brings down the blade, but you raise your own up as it comes down, deflecting it. Electricity flows between the two swords and the sound of thunder crashes through the building. The loud noise causes both of you immense pain and disorientation, you putting a hand on the ground to support yourself, and him staggering backwards.Luckily, you're able to recover first. Apparently his attacks took more out of him than your defense took out of you. As you stand, you see clearly that he's trying to recover.>Roll 1d20

Rolled 10 (1d20)>>41422085
>>41422132You sum up all of the power you know the Hist can lend you at this time and bring your free hand down, your dark self falling to the ground and his weapon clashing against the ground."No more! You are the better man!" He yells, panting. "I surrender!"You walk over to him, not releasing your hold, then grab his sword. As you grab it, he is freed, and able to rise to his knees in front of you."You've won. Leave through the doorway behind my throne and you will return to your world."You cross both blades in front of his neck, electricity flowing between them."Please, show mercy!">Behead him and walk through the doorway.>Sheathe the blade and take his staff-sheath, then walk through the doorway.
>>41422254Walk away. Don't need to kill him to win. And he's us. I like us.
>>41422254Hail Sithis>Behead him and walk through the doorway.
>>41422288Shit this is a trial of Sithis is it not he killed his own sons would us killing this imposter not gain his favour?
>>41422254>Behead him and walk through the doorway.Hail Sithis! The Force of Change!I honor you with this Death of Myself! My first of many Offerings unto you!
>>41422303At the Very least we might gain the Night mothers Attention, and through her the Dragon Born
>>41422443>>41422381>>41422335>>41422288You behead the man with your face and sheathe your blade. His body becomes a black mist and disappears. You then retrieve his staff-sheath and reform it. With the staff in hand and the blade at your side, you walk through a large, open doorway behind his throne.Suddenly you find yourself back in the shaman's hut. You have the staff and the blade as you did in your personal realm."Well? You have slain him, I see. Did you learn anything?""I uncovered knowledge of new abilities I hold," you say. "A blast of energy, and a shield.""These three abilities are yours. True-born abilities, yes! Your telekinesis, the blast, and shield! Gifts of the Hist!""And now you will teach me?" You ask."Already have. Those powers are yours to wield! The task and lesson are the same, you see!">"Is there no more I could learn?">"How long was I away?">"Should I not have killed him?">"How are Ryan and Alsmoth?"
>>41422443Is the DB even Alive in this Realm>"Should I not have killed him?"
>>41422480Last you heard, the Last Dragonborn was still aiding the Empire in Skyrim."Should I not have killed him?" You ask the shaman, who has already begun mixing another potion."Kill him, don't kill him. Either way he returns. Part of yourself, he is. But now he is weaker, holds less control over you." The shaman goes into a back room, leaving you standing there with Sarah. After a few seconds of silence, he returns with Ryan and Alsmoth. "Healed, to the best of my ability. Go now. I have nothing more to teach you. There is a celebration for you, it will start soon."Ryan looks like he's sore, but he isn't slouching over anymore. Alsmoth looks almost as good as new, walking with only a slight limp."Thanks, shaman!" Ryan says. "You're a miracle worker.""Is there more for me to learn, Nayrut?" You ask the shaman as everyone else leaves the shack."Only through training and meditation. Perhaps you will learn more, yes, but you should now focus on your gifts. Consider them a blessing and do not misuse them.""Thank you, Nayrut."Ryan shoves a bag in your hand as you exit the shack. "Here, money for your festival. I'm going to go buy myself some new armor. There's a good 400 gold in there, so if you spend it all, make it count!">Go to the town square, where a festival is being held in your honor.>Go to the inn, preferring to rest after that.>Wander around in the marketplace, looking for something to buy.
>>41422639>>Wander around in the marketplace, looking for something to buy.We should have asked for Pariah to outfit us with heavier armor and a shield.
>>41422698Shrugging off the idea of buying new armor as something you can do in the morning, after a night of drinking and a good sleep, you accompany Alsmoth and Sarah to the town square. It's dark outside now, and fire pits and torches around the town square give it a bright glow in contrast to the dark of night. The chieftan, Pariah, stands at a fire pit in the center of the town square."My neighbors, look upon this traveler!" He yells as you come into the square. "Not only is he a Moth Priest, an honorable man dedicated to his land and duty, but he is Hist-blessed and a Wamasu-slayer!"He throws the head of the dragon into the fire pit. Dozens of Argonians around you cheer."And neither is he a fool! For he has saught out guidance from Nayrut, the shaman of our people, and has learned more of the way of the Hist through him!"Cheers and cries of "praise Sithis!" erupt from the crowd."Tonight, Hist-blessed, we dine and celebrate in your honor." A cup of wine is handed to you, and Pariah holds one of his own. He raises it. "To the Hist! To Sithis!"You raise your glass.>"To the Hist!">"Praise Sithis!">"For the Empire!">"The Eight be praised!"Pick only one.
>>41422868You know, Getting the protection of the "Presumed" Writer of the Elderscrolls and creator of all Daedric princes would be pretty nice.
>>41422825>>"To the Hist!"
>>41422825To the hist
>>41422899>>41422934"To the Hist!" You say, then drink your wine. The wine is sweet and tart, with hints of strawberries alongside the grapes. Maybe some faint cherry. But it's good wine, much better than what you brought with you.The festivities go on until deep in the night, with many Argonians complementing you and some praising you as if you were some sort of hero. With the wine and the excitement, you feel great for the night and soon after go to the tavern where you'll be spending the night. The innkeeper lets you stay the night for free, considering it an honor to have a Hist-blessed in his inn.Comfortable and happy for the first time since you left the White-Gold Tower, you go to bed. Your companions retired much earlier than you, and you are careful not to wake them up as you go to rest.End Day 4.This is where we'll be stopping tonight. The thread will be archived and the Twitter will be updated. As always, I am open to any comments or suggestions.
