Recently: You drank a paralyzing tea as part of your new training. Your mission is to direct your Pokemon to drag your sorry ass to Vernon's cabin in the jungle. You ran into a Seviper fighting Zangoose fighting Tangrowrth and Tangela. One of the Tangrowth was a human in disguise, but it got away.

General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.

Write-ins for all votes or always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as it comes up.

Combat involves rolls! Once there's a clear winner, we roll for the move accuracy/crit/secondary effect. Usually it's just three 1d100s. Sometimes you can get a modifier from circumstances, so be creative! Add flair, do tricks with moves, mess with terrain, whatever!

Call me out on a mistake and receive an apology butt or suggestive picture.

“Bring me closer.”

Levi pulls you in closer to the injured Seviper. It doesn’t seem to notice your presence until you get close. It’s coiling in pain and fear.

“Hey, hey. It’s alright. Nobody is going to hurt you.” You try to keep your voice soft and non-threatening, while slowly reaching out to pet it.

Oh right. Your arms won’t move.

Levi gently lowers you down. She let’s you rest against her so you don’t just flop onto your back.

Seviper is no longer hissing and trying to scoot away from you, but you think that might just be because it’s out of energy.

“Trunks? Where are you?”

Your Trevenant moves into your field of view.

“Trunks, take the potion out of my bag and use it on Seviper there.” He rummages through your bag, bringing up the occasional item and checking with with if that’s it. Eventually he finds the potion. “Be careful,” you tell him in a whispered tone. It is a wild, injured Pokemon after all.

Trunks carefully sprays the injured Seviper with the potion. At first, it backs away, scared. But it quickly stops when it feels the potion taking effect.

Seviper looks at you and Trunks suspiciously. It’s wondering what you want in return. It moves it's body slowly and carefully, taking inventory of it's current condition.

Huh. That’s pretty clever for a Pokemon.

“In exchange, I want you to help me find a cabin.”

You figure you’re doing fine on your own, but it couldn’t hurt to ask for directions. Besides, getting it to do you a favor will keep it out of trouble while it recovers, and it won’t hurt it’s pride if it can repay a debt.

The Seviper considers your request. It eyes Trunks, Devon, and Levi suspiciously.

It eventually nods, then begins moving forward to the river. Maybe it doesn’t think it has a choice?

“Hey, wait up!”

Levi pulls you on top of her, then follows after it. Trunks rides with you while Devon follows along the shore, looking out for more danger. He gives the Seviper of a lot of his attention though. He doesn’t trust it.

Eventually you reach a fork in the river. Trunk takes out your map for you.

According to this, the right path should take you roughly in the direction you want to go. You’ll have to get off at some point and go by land after.

The left path veers way off and it looks like it stops.

In either direction, the river looks like it picks up speed. Levi might have a hard time keeping you secure on a rapid river.

Seviper is ahead. She’s motioning that you should go left.

You decide to follow Seviper and go left. It looks smugly please with itself that it convinced you to go it’s way.

The river begins to pick up now. It becomes more and more rapid and wild. You notice the occasional rock sticking out in the river. Levi avoids them for now, but you can see that carefully keeping you and Trunks on her back, while trying to go slow enough for Devon to keep up along the shore but fast enough to keep up with Seviper is tiring her out as time goes on.

The Seviper seems to be fine. It easily takes to the rapids, probably from experience. You notice it’s doing a little hop in the water now. It leaps up, dives under the water, then leaps up again. Like it’s doing a triple jump. It dives down under the water ahead.

You quickly realize that the reason the river ends here on the map is because it suddenly drops into an underground cave! Levi notices too, but she hesitates to move too quickly to get out because she might drop you and Trunks.

If only your body could move. You don’t have much time to act.

Levi tries to slow you down. She swims against the current as strong as she dares without throwing you loose.

She really is trying to look out for you. You don’t have time to be touched though.

“Trunks, recall Devon. Hurry!”

Trunks quickly fumbles with the Pokeball and aims it at Devon.

Levi rests part of her body against a rock in the river. It only keeps you still for a second before the rock suddenly gives way, causing her to slip back. She awkwardly keeps you from being dunked, but in doing so, she let’s the river sweep her downstream.

You see the beam connect just as you start going over the edge. Trunks holds the Pokeball tightly and all three of you fall into the darkness.

For a second, you lose track of everything. There’s just the sensation of weightlessness and darkness.

You splash into water. Without being able to move, you’re completely helpless. You desperately hope something happens. You have so much to lose now. You can’t drown here. You can’t let everyone down.

You’re pulled up above water. In truth, you weren’t even under long at all, but the inability to do anything about it made it seem like forever.

You feel yourself dragged onto hard ground.

“Trunks? Is that you?”

Trunks makes a noise. So does Levi, except from farther away.

You feel a Pokeball being pushed into your pocket. Trunks held onto it. The tension flows out of you.

You can’t really see all that well here though. You don’t look too deep. You can still see where you fell in, if faintly.

You think you can hear something slither in the darkness. Is Seviper getting away? Is it sticking around? Was that a trap, or did it just assume you could handle it?

You have Trunks take Devon out again. He’s slowly becoming comfortable with the concept. Truthfully, with the creepy smile he gets, it’s a little worrying.

You have Devon use Ember and Sunny Day to bright up the cave. Trunks helps with Will-O-Wisp on some rocks. The embers fade quickly, but the Will-o-Wisps leaves a burning spot for a bit longer.

You can around the cave much better now.

Let’s see. Trunks looks fine, if wet and tired. Devon looks great. He’s standing nearly perfectly still, eying a bush up a small path. You see Seviper there, watching you and waiting. She’s overlooking a path leading further into the cave. She looks confident in her ability to escape if someone were to attack it. You still can’t get a good read on her intentions.

You turn to Levi in the pool of water.

Oh no. She must have hit the rocks hard going down. She’s banged up pretty bad. You don’t think you see any serious injuries, but she doesn’t look like she tried to roll with the fall at all. She involuntarily flinches.

She looks down at you, acting annoying at you scrutinizing her bruises. She’s acting like she’s totally fine. She motions to the waterfall, hinting at you to order something. Does she want to trying swimming up it? It looks difficult under normal circumstances.

You beckon Leviathan closer, then get Trunks to spray her with two potions, just to be safe. Levi grudgingly accepts it, even if she insists on acting like she’s find.

“Thanks for protecting me.”

She snorts and looks away.

When you’re satisfied with her treatment, you have Trunks recall her. Trunks is starting to look natural using a Pokeball.

“Seviper!” You glare at the snake Pokemon. “Why didn’t you warn us?”

She cocks her head. She seems to think that she did. Maybe that’s what the triple jump was for?

Or maybe that’s just an excuse.

You sigh. You guess you can’t do anything about it now. You’ll just have to be slow and careful. “Can we take a less rough path?”

Seviper begins to slither ahead slowly as she heads towards the darker mouth of the cave. Devon growls as she passes a little too closely. She hisses back. Neither of them are riled up enough to fight though. At least, not yet.

You try to look into the cave. It seems to be a wide path that gently slopes upwards. On the left of the path is a sheer rock wall. On the right, it drops off into nothingness. Seviper slowly starts going up it, then waits for you to follow.

You get Trunks to take out Nibbles. He eagerly helps, enjoying exercising the power to summon and dismiss his fellow Pokemon. The light illuminates the cave, but only Seviper reacts, flinching at it.

“Hey Nibbles, how’s it hanging?” You’re glad Nibbles didn’t see Levi all roughed up. He looks up to her. “Can you help me up?”

Nibbles is eager to help out. Trunks helps secure the saddle, and then he and Devon helps you get on and balance.

Luckily the cave is large and wide. There’s plenty of room. It’s almost a bit scary, since you can’t really see the ceiling or what’s at the bottom of the drop-off on the right.

You pull Devon aside and tell him stay close.

Seviper looks back often as you all slowly go up.

Nibbles is having fun. He likes to shift your weight around as he walks you up the path. He makes it so you’re just about to slump off, then he shifts you back up. It’s a game. Devon watches, worried you’ll actually drop off Nibbles and onto the ground.

Devon’s ear’s and nose twitch.

Seviper suddenly stops. She turns around and glares at everyone. She let’s out a very low, quiet hiss. She coils in preparation to strike.

At the same time, Devon slowly lowers himself, readying to jump into action in Seviper’s general direction.

Nibbles and Trunks pick up on the vibe. Nibbles growls. Trunkles cackles lightly and he beings to move to encircle Seviper.

You can’t really get a good look ahead, so it’s not too easy to see what’s going on exactly. You’re mostly guessing.

Nibbles inhales deeply and rears back. He’s going to roar.

“Shh” You say as loudly as you dare.

Seviper hisses as Trunks keeps encircling her.

“SHH! Stop!”

Trunks pulls back. Seviper, satisfied once there’s enough distance between the two, turns back around and prepares to fight the darkness.

Nibbles makes an inquisitive noise.

“Shh,” you remind him, very quietly.

Everyone is silent.

At least, everyone in your group. You hear something moving in the distance. Wait, from the ceiling. You look up and squint. For a good long time, you all just stare up in the ceiling.

You see it now. Bats. Zubats, Golbats, and even the occasional Crobat. It’s a large population.. They’re all sleeping and hanging.

Trunks accidentally trips on a rock, sending it tumbling down the path. The Pokemon above you stir, but then settle back to sleep.

Okay. This isn’t so bad. You gesture the group to keep going. Just slowly, and carefully, and silently. You can do this.

But Seviper refuses to move. It’s hissing at the darkness ahead.

You see a pair of yellow eyes staring from ahead. They don’t look friendly. They move. It looks like it’s preparing to strike.

You don’t back down. You don’t lash out in fear. You don’t even hesitate. You just have Nibbles keep moving you forward.

Your Pokemon follow. Devon is nearly glued to you. He bares his teeth at the Pokemon in the darkness.

You clearly see the Garchomp. It’s thrown off by how brazenly you invade its territory. It’s hostile eyes have a glaze of confusion. This isn’t how it’s supposed to go.

And what a sight you are. A girl without use of her limbs. A Trevenant that’s trying to blend into the darkness, a Tyrantrum that’s unsure if it’s time to play or get serious, a Houndoom that’s trying to protect you from both it and Seviper, and of course, the Seviper that doesn’t trust any of your Pokemon.

Now that the shock is wearing off. The Garchomp is getting new confidence. It approaches, then positions itself in your path.

You see Trunks somehow managed to get behind it. He’s holding an empty Pokeball.

You say nothing, and just stare at it.

It stares back.

You don’t blink. You gaze deep into it’s soul, searching for it’s weaknesses and fears.

Garchomp flairs it’s wings and bares its teeth. Everyone in your group reacts except for you.

You’re not sure if you’re brave, or if it’s just because you can’t flinch.

Garchomp eye’s you with concern now. There must be a reason you won’t back down. What sort of trick or ability do you have that makes you so confident? Garchomp backs away and thinks. You have no need to look strong because you are strong. A fight with a Garchomp isn’t something that concerns you.

Or maybe you have nothing. Yes.

You stick out your tongue as Nibbles carries you forward. “Plrrrtb!”

Garchomps face is plastered with confusion. It has no idea what to make of anything that just happened. The other Pokemon follow closely.

You make sure not to look back, even if you’re starting to get a bit more neck control now. You trust your Pokemon to be able to handle it if Garchomp suddenly attacks from behind. But nothing happens. Your group just keeps moving.

Eventually you reach the end of the path. On the left, there’s an exit to the cave. You see sunlight, but you’d have to climb up there.

But Seviper is insisting you go right. It’s a slippery looking slope that leads into darkness. You hear running water.

You have Devon and Trunks like up the path as Nibbles carefully takes you down. He sometimes has to re-adjust his footing or go back a few feet to try a different way down. He manages to bring you down without dropping you or falling.

The path keeps going, but Seviper stops you.

You can hear what sounds like more slithering Pokemon through a small tunnel that you probably wouldn’t be able to fit in. A smaller Seviper sticks it’s head out. The one that’s been guiding you hisses at it, and it retreats back.

Seviper looks up to you. It takes on a weird pose, and hisses. The hiss isn’t a warning though. it’s some sort of imitation.

Oh! It’s making the noise of a potion.

“So...what is this? You want another potion before you take me the rest of the way?”

Seviper stops doing the imitation, and lightly taps the small hole in the wall. She wants you to deposit it there.

>Sure. Give it another potion, even if you’re low
>Give it all your remaining potions, and some food. Be generous.
>Ask to meet the family.
>No way. You don’t owe it anything more after the waterfall stunt
>Something else

Just one. It doesn't know we have more and frankly, we don't need to give any more up.

“You know, this sort of extortion is frowned upon in some circles,” you put a potion in the hole. The other Seviper takes it almost instantly.

Your guide looks satisfied, and keeps leading you forward. You guess it was the right choice, because this cave has a few different paths you could take.

You eventually reach a slow, underground stream. You can also see a bit of sunlight coming from above. It’s not much, but it looks like there’s a crack in the ground above.

There’s no area on the side to walk along it. You’ll have to be carried through the water.

Except it’s not empty. You can see a few Goldeen swimming around it in.

Seviper hisses at the water, then slaps it once with her tail. The Goldeen scatter back, and Seviper enters the water.

You'll probably have to retrieve Devon to keep going. Maybe he can swim the deeper parts, but you don't see a reason to tire him out there.

>Have Nibbles walk you through it. You can balance on his head for the deep parts
>Get Levi out again. it’s a tight fit, but she shouldn’t have problems
>Get Dan to float you down it
>Figure out a way to get above ground. You have to be close to the cabin by now.
>Something else

You have Trunks take Dan out. He takes in his new surroundings, but doesn’t seem to care much.

“Rest up Nibbles. You too, Devon.”

Trunks is all too happy to handle the the releasing and retrieving of your Pokemon.

“How about you, Trunk? You’ve been out all day. Don’t you want to rest?”

He shakes his head and cackles just a little. He’s really enjoying this.

You eventually get flopped onto Dan. Your fingers and toes can move a little, but you’re still pretty much helpless.

Dan’s big eyes look up to you, wondering what the plan is.

“We should be close,” you tell him. “Seviper will show us the rest of the way.”

Dan looks at the shady looking snake Pokemon. It seems to be especially wary of him though. That makes sense. Dan’s Steel typing makes it immune to Poison moves. Seviper is about as trusting as you were when you first set out on your journey.

Dan leads you down the stream. It’s actually a very pleasant ride. The water is clear, letting you see the various dips in the water.

Once or twice you see a few aggressive looking water Pokemon, but they steer clear of Dan. He floats using electromagnetism, so they can probably sense that in the water.

Seviper does three quick jumps, diving underwater for the last one. You and Trunks brace on Dan.

But Dan is able to slow this fall. Instead of falling into a dark pit, you come out the side of a small mountain. Bright sunshine nearly blinds you. It’s twice as bad since you’re on top of such a reflective Pokemon.

You come to a slight splash into the water, then Dan floats you to the shore. He looks exhausted. You guess doing a slow fall is pretty tiring.

Seviper slither’s over and points.

There’s the cabin! You’re here! It’s just a hundred meters away. And just in time too. The sun is beginning to set.

She hisses gently. It’s her way of saying “I told you so.”

You hold back the urge to criticize her for the nearly worthless warning about the drop.

She's got a family it seems, plus we don't need another poison type on the team.

We've got poison types already, and sev seem to have a family to take care of. Or at least a partner.
