Gruk Han travel to a nearby hill top to survey this new territory, they see great horned beasts traveling in herds in the great river valley below, far to the east past the great river, they can see what look to dwellings of some sort. To the west there are great mountains far off in the distance it looks like the mouth of this river ends travels through there, and farther to the north endless grass and hills are all that can be seen.

Without wood nearby your pack begins constructing a mound near the river, although Draugh is wary that it might flood should the river rise, it will suffice until something more permanent can be constructed.

While scouting along the river bank your pack comes across one of these horned beasts stuck in the thick mud. It lets out a mighty roar warning you to stay back. But the pack is not swayed. Your hunters distract the beast by throwing rocks and making loud noises while Gruk Han and 2 others close in from the flank.
The beast begins to thrash it's horns side to side when the spears hit it's throat catching one of the hunters and knocking him into the river. The beast finally succumbs and the pack relishes in it's victory.

>5 turns of food gained
>1 injured gnoll ready again in 2 turns

With morale high the pack attempts to scout the surrounding areas. Small squads are sent towards both the mountains and the dwellings. The scouts that head towards dwelling return early reporting that they found no way to cross the river.

The shaman has read the blood and has spoken of a great grass ocean in the north where game is plentiful and rivers flow wide. Seeking a new land to call your own you traveled from the rugged deserts of the south to this new land many of the pack were lost along the way but you have found it at last... The scouts from the mountains return with goods . They report a small forest near the base of the mountains with a pack of small menthings living in it. They also found some strange rocks that make their mouths dry when they lick them.
>Salt discovered
>Gnomes discovered

The tribe goes on the hunt again, They come upon a small family of the horned beasts, the pack quickly surrounds and isolates the mother, a fierce fight ensues 2 gnolls are injured when they are knocked aside by the horns, and a third is stomped to death beneath the giant hooves of the beast... Finally it falls exhausted and bleeding. The 4 calves stay by their mother as she dies, and follow her still as the gnolls drag her body back to the mound.
>4 turns of food gained
>4 calves gained

Draugh prepares the blood and begins his ritual, he sees a village of menthings with strange tools pulling plants from the dirt... Perhaps we could learn the secret from these menthings.

A pack of gnolls are sent to scout the forest, they will return in 2 turns

Meanwhile at the camp the gnolls thinking about the loss of their kin and those injured in their recent hunt attempt to develop weapons to kill from a distance. After days of frustrating work they finally developed a spear that can be thrown using another smaller weighted stick as leverage.
This weapon has proved excellent for fishing and small game but less useful against larger targets.

While waiting for the scouts to return draugh has the idea to crush up the funny tasting rocks and put them on the food while it cooks the result is a tough dry meat that doesn't go bad easily. Most of pack prefers the taste of fresh meat, but this will allow their scouts to travel farther, and even store meat for tougher times.

The blood from the rabbit is used for the ritual Draugh sees a rabbit being picked up by a large rat creature in the middle of the night.

The scouts return from the woods. They report puny menthings are chopping down many trees with shiny tools that spin and squeak. They also report that regular sized men with shiny weapons are in the camp.

Your spies return with similar news, but they also bring back one of the small menthings, and many shiny things they've stolen.

We shouldn't keep the gnome for long. We should dispose of the body after he gives us short term use, that way the gnomes wont know where he went. We cant risk a fight with the gnomes, as they would kick our ass.

No I know we don't have the materials yetvi meant in the future if we keep the wee man

too much hassle imo. just interrogate and bleed him

I figured if we banged them against eachother hard enough we could get some decent sized shards

GM stated that every gnoll has a weapon, instead of breaking them we should give them to our most skilled warriors including the alpha.

The gnome is questioned, but it's quickly apparent that he has no comprehension of our language.

Draugh prepares the ritual. The gnome is slaughtered. This time however the blood is consumed. Draugh's eyes flash white and the shaman falls to the ground unconscious.

Draugh will awake in 3 turns.

So how many humans and gnomes did the scouts see I mean will we be able to raid them with low casualties?
Tribe name?: Howling laugh
>>
>>41464077
you forgot this again
>Buildings: 3 gnoll mounds

i say we scout the nearest undiscovered area (op, can you compile what we have discovered around us so far?) and hunt some more

btw, the beasts we hunt, are they herbivore and suitable for riding?
>>
>>41464211
They saw about 40 gnomes and 15 humans.
>>
>>41464327
With our tactics and their size I vote to raid them!
>>
>>41464274
While we are scouting, we should set up some targets to train our atlatl use
>>
>>41464077
I say we train some troops in how to use the axes and shields.

>>41464366
I dunno man. We will eventually, but they got better equipment. Yea, 30-40 are good numbers, but we got mostly sticks while they got steel and most likely magic.
>>
>>41464274
Yes they're herbivores, as far as you can tell. It's a possibility but you'll need to work on taming them.

The mountains to the west have been scouted up to the forest. The east has been scouted up until Horned Beasts grazing grounds. The north hasn't been scouted yet because a safe way to cross the river hasn't been discovered. To the south is the desert you came from.
>>
>>41464441
I mean we can attack in the night were most of them are sleeping unarmored and don't we night vision or are better hunter in the dark?Maybe instead of that we send a pack to stalk and wait for a traveler with goods so we can ambush and take their belonging.
>>
>>41464464
are they more like buffalo or cows or something else?

>>41464518
we should deffo raid them but at least wait until our pups are grown and the shaman wakes up so we get more info
>>
>>41464518
I don't think that we have night vision. leavin that to OP. But at the same time, we already took one person. They're gonna be on some sort of alert. At least a night watch. If we get the jump on them, we might have a chance, but otherwise it won't look good. Plus, they might have good range weapons.

Gruk Han takes an interest in the calves, he begins training them to come when they are called by giving them food when they hear the word "Beast"
>Primitive taming unlocked

Deciding to get to know your surroundings better, you send a pack of scouts to the east. They travel for a few days until they come upon a small cave system near the edge of the river. Seeking a place to get out of the sun and rest, the scouts enter the cave to rest.

"These is our lands dogmen you come any closer and we're gunna cutcha ear ta ear."

The scout leader speaks up while brandishing his spear "I heard rats carry diseases but I think I could stomach it. " .
Another gnoll chimes in "The fat one there looks like it might taste good despite the rancid smell."
There's an audible splatter and foul smell that comes from the skaven.
All the Gnolls laugh in unison.

"Take whateva ya want just don't eat me! You want to get across the river I can show you the way! And uh,,,, Take some of these!" The skaven takes some of the metal weapons from his nearby comrades and hands them over. And uh here "He pushes a few of the smaller skavens out from the corner. "Take these they work for free and they don't eat much!"

>Gained 4 skaven slaves
>10 steel swords

The skaven shows you a small cavern on a rock outcrop that opens up on the other side of the river.

The gnolls head back to the mounds triumphantly with their new slaves in tow.
