((Okay guys I'm gonna tell you a little bit about how the crunch will go down in this session. All rolls are best of 3. So if I tell you to roll 3d20 I'm

looking at 9 rolls, 3 from each anon that posts. Rolling a 1 cancels out the highest roll in the set. There are critical hits, but they don't necessarily mean you get an instant kill or even do terrible, terrible damage. It all depends on the weapon.

Also I'm going to outline an ID code I'll be using to give you a better idea of enemy capabilities in the enemy status thread:

[name]-[letter]-[number]

The name is the name of the enemy, number is just there to identify multiple instances of the same enemy type.
The letter gives you an idea of how well equipped the enemy is.

A: Vanilla, carries a basic weapons loadout and not much else.
B: Minor Upgrades, carries extra secondary weapons and specialist systems.
C: Major Upgrades, increased armour, extra weapons and subsystems.
D: Heavily Upgraded, the unit is pimped out.
X: Custom Upgrade, The unit is equipped beyond what it would normally be capable of carrying, usually indicates a boss unit.

You are Sergei Boystov, pilot of the stolen super mech: RB-01 Cognis. After escaping with the mech from your home country of Surden Nevik you and your

partners in crime have decided to sell the Cognis to the Republic of Zanvra. Anya, a well connected corporate exec has left the party to arrange a meeting

with Zanvran agents, leaving you and your buddy Lev to your own devices. After escaping with your lives from a shoot out at a gay bar you and Lev must now

perform a side mission for the mysterious A.E.S.R corporation. Apparently the Apex Warfare arms manufactuer has stolen an "asset" from A.E.S.R and they want

you to help recover it.

As of now you and Lev sit pouring over the intel handed to you by Dvorak's late employee.

"Looks like we'll be assaulting a railyard. Our objectives are to eliminate all units guarding the convoy then cover A.E.S.R's PMCs while they recover the

asset. We're to prioritise any direct threats to their infantry followed by mechs."

You look at the map of the railyard. It consists of a block of tracks surrounded by low buildings, a few cranes and scattered piles of cargo crates. The

likely disposition of Apex's PMCs was marked around the main terminal building, along with the chosen assault corridors of A.E.S.R's forces.

How should we deploy?
>Move in from the North, starting further away from the enemy. Gives you the flexibility to pick your targets and range the enemy, but it will be harder to

come to your ally's aid.
>Move in from the South, starting closer to the enemy. You can quickly close the distance to the asset and bring more weapons to bear, but you risk getting

attacked by more enemies at once.
>>Left Side; refused flank tactics, reduces the amount of enemies you fight at once.
>>Right Side; as above.
>>Center; More flexibility to change your approach on the fly, but you risk getting surrounded.

Talk to Lev before we begin?

>Instruct him carefully

Specifically, have him use weapon systems for us. Missiles specifically. Have him lock and knock out the helicopter.

We should railgun the mech as our opening move, then railgun the tank when it comes into range.
Sweep the laser across the junction of the tracks to prevent them from escaping that way easily.

Move in, rail the tank, MSG the infantry, repeat operation on the other set.

Laser wheels of truck in passing. Missile Helicopter if in range, rail mech if in range.

Put a rail gun through the engine's wheels to prevent movement, if any place is going to be a weak spot that'll be it.

Mop up any lingering resistance.

Seem like a good plan guys?

Target Priority:

>Helis: Highest damage to mechs and infantry both.
>Mechs: Highest danger to infantry
>Apcs: Highest danger to mechs
>Escape routes.

Remember guys, if this goes well A.E.S.R. will probably restock our munitions, do not be afraid to use missiles and rail gun shells.

After your wild night out Anya had contacted you and Lev explaining that things were progressing but that she'd be away for another day or so. Even if you preferred to have her in the co-pilot's seat Lev was all you got. You take Lev aside for a little breifing.

"Alright Lev, we'll be going into combat soon and I need you to have my back. You do what I say when I say it. Stick to what you know for now: when in doubt hack. If I want you to do anything else I'll let you know."

-------

You watch from your concealled position in the forest as the Apex convoy spreads out across the railyard. Aside from the large cargo truck carrying the asset you detect two summit class mechs, some AFVs bearing mechanised infantry and a pair of gunships. A freight train has arrived to begin moving the asset. Two AFVs loaded with A.E.S.R PMCs converge on either side of the yard, designated Alpha team and Gamma team respectively. You receive a transmission over the secure channel.

((Sorry guys I dun goofed when counting ammo, you should have 19 rounds left now.))

You line up a shot on the Summit and pull the trigger. Inside the cockpit you can hear the freociou buzz of the railgun's capacitors discharging, followed by the crack of the hypervelocity slug splitting air. The Summit takes the hit and whirl's round to face you sparks hissing from a hole in it's side.

Lev tries and fails to get a target lock on the gunship so instead switches to the laser. He manages to scorch the armour somewhat but couldn't hold the beam on target long enough to bring it down.

The Summit advances on you and opens fire with huge mini-gun. The heavy rounds impact your hull, blasting chunks out of your armour. The stricken gunship opts to reposition itself, pulling further away from you. Alpha tema moves in with Alpha 1 driving round the crates towards the asset while Alpha 2 flanks the Summit.

The rest of Apex's forces are starting to react. On the far side of the railyard the second Summit is converging on your position. Gamma 2 gets taken out by a missile from the second gunship but is avenged by Gamma 1.

His ranged capabilities fucked the Summit comes round the cargo crates and attacks you with a massive sword. The blade comes down on you hard and leaves a big dent in your hull.

Meanwhile the gunship puts a missile into Alpha 2, blasting it apart. Alpha 1 diverts from it's course and swings round the crates to finish off the stricken gunship with it's aux-missile. You aim a kick at the Summit while blasting away with your HMGs. The Summit easily side steps your attack and the few shots that hit just plink off it's hull. Apex armour upgrades... you should have known.

Lev tries to land a shot with the laser but his inexperience compounded with the difficulty of firing in the middle of a melee makes the shot all but impossible. Frustrated he starts frantically pushing buttons on the console.

With the Summit slowed to a crawl you casually move the Cognis backward and zero the sights on it. Your railgun obliterates the mech's torso and sends its limbs flying across the railyard. The thing is most certainly dead.

The remaining Summit takes cover behind the pile of crates and opens fire with a gauss rifle. Though far less damaging than your railgun the rifle's slugs punch through the cover and deal minor damage to your hull. You also see that this Summit has a tactical shield, making it much more resistant to frontal attacks.

Meanwhile the survivros of Alpha and Gamma teams engage in a firefight with the remaining Apex PMCs. Alpha 1 rains cannon fire on the enemy infantry before getting taken out by twin RPGS. Fortunately it has time to disembark its own infantry who went straight for the asset. Gamma 1, the last remaining friendly AFV also disembarks its infantry and exchanges cannon fire with it's opposite number.

(Right there's few enough units left so lets resolve this in one go.)

You deliver a solid hit to the remaining Summit with your railgun then swing round the crates to flank it. Lev fails in his hacking attempts but has the presence of mind to open up with the laser when he gets the chance. To his credit he scores a decent hit. The Summit hastily back pedals, trying to keep it's shield facing you. Given the way it's going it looks like it's retreating. In a few moments you'll be out of range of his gauss rifle and it will no longer be a threat.

Meanwhile the remaining A.E.S.R unit mop up, with Alpha 1's infantry securing the asset while Gamma 1 win's its fight with the last AFV. Gamma 1's infantry team gun down their opposite number in short order while the handful of surviving Apex infantry start running across for the rails.

It looked like the operation was almost over, there was however the small matter of a new sensor blip on your scope, it was moving down the railway at high speed...

I'm gonna take the opportunity to clear up a few things before we resolve the final action.

Firstly: no you can't actual control an enemy mech through hacking. Here's what you can do:
>Shut down their high tech equipment. (Some mechs are more reliant on these than others.)
>Disable their ability to lock on (which by extension means they can't use missiles.)
>Compromise their mobility systems (Reduce their movement and debuff melee)
>Compromise FCS (Eliminate their existing target locks and debuff ranged.)
>(If they have it.) Hack their drone control unit and send a false command to any drones they have.

Secondly: How your characters work.
Basically your pilot and co-pilot get two actions each turn. There can be some over lap between the actions (they can each fire a different weapon once, they can each attempt to lock once.) but some actions can only ever be performed once (You can only move/run once per turn.)

Generally I present broad strokes to you while handling the details of each turn myself. The last thing I want is you guys arguing over micro management.

So yes. Lev can lock and fire in the same turn if he's lucky.

Lev happily obliges, the missile slams into the SUmmit from above completely bypassing his shield and blasting apart the remaining armour. The wrecked mech falls onto its back. Down the rails came an armoured train, pulling a flat bed on which stood two mechs. I needed pics of two suitably insane characters to play these guys.

BTW because I forgot to post these in the beginning:

well fuck shit. I guess we need to cover their escape then.

Also I don't see how the hell we could have saved more of those people honestly.

Is Guye Co one of the weapon's manufacturers?

Yes. It specializes almost exclusively in melee oriented mechs. The founder of the company likes to punch things, and failing that shooting them in the face at point blank range.

Ah you know what might as well give you guys the run down on the arms manufacturers now:

Gavial Global Armaments: The biggest, makes all the shit tier mechs but people use them anyway because of the price point.

Apex Warfare: Second biggest, makes all the high quality stuff.

Lansknecht Heavy Industries: Their stuff is really hard to kill.

Exo-Terra Aerospace: They like drones, missiles and electronic warfare. Their mechs generally have low battlefield endurance though.

Knight Lite Military Supplies: The guys that make most of the stealth mechs.

Guye Co. Munitions: Already covered these guys.

A.E.S.R: ???? (But seriously, by now you should be able to guess what they do.)

Sergei knows that the Cognis was built in secret by both Landsknecht and Apex. Who commissioned it's construction is unknown.

AESR seems to be 'top secret super stuff' or something given how much everybody wants their crap.

Surprised they weren't involved in making us, but then I guess they wouldn't hire us right?
