Well, this is it! This will probably be the final thread before we go on extended hiatus. However, I'll try to make this a proper enough conclusion in case this is the last thread period!

You are Captain WILLIAM PIERCE, a combat rescue officer of the United States Air Force!

Your heart stops when you hear Kelsey's words.

"What do you mean Laika's down?!" You yell, instinctively grabbing Kelsey by the collar. However, to his credit, Kelsey does nothing to stop you. "How did this happen?!"

"It's my fault." Sokolov sighs. "There was a backdoor I missed."

"What are you talking about?" You growl as you finally let go of Kelsey.

"Sokolov, explain it to him." Kelsey sighs, straightening out his uniform.

"Well, you see, the VDNI Laika uses is technology that was funded and developed by GRU." Sokolov explains. "All of the hardware and software was developed in Russia. Naturally, I rooted out all of the backdoors hidden in the programming, or at least I thought I did..."

"How does that explain things?" You ask.

"While Laika was on patrol, her craft received an encrypted transmission from a Russian transmitter. I believe that was a signal to trigger the backdoor in her VDNI implant, which immediately ejected her from the craft."

"We had two F-15s flying CAP that visually confirmed a chute, but it fell on the Russian side of the border." Kelsey says grimly. "Without Laika at the controls, the XF-19 defaulted to autopilot and returned to base."

"So what are we going to do about it?" You demand.

"We narrowed down the possible places she could been taken. However, I need to contact NATO Command and the Joint Chiefs to get authorization for a rescue mission." Kelsey says.

"She's my DAUGHTER, Colonel. I can't just leave-"

"I'm not talking about that legal crap." Kelsey snaps. "You go now, you're going in alone with no support and no intel. I know going through proper channels takes time, and I know we don't have a lot of it. I'm not going to stop you but just THINK for a moment here, Captain!"

"How soon can we expect an answer?" You ask.

"I just need to make a phone call. Given Laika's strategic value, I expect them to come to a decision within the hour." Kelsey assures you. "Just cool off and be patient, all right? We all want to see her come home. You can stay here if you want, or take walk to cool off."

"I'm going to get my squadron prepped to go." You say. "Whatever their answer, we're going at a moments' notice."

"Understood." Kelsey nods. "Once I get an answer I'll let you know right away."

You immediately make your way to the barracks, where the rest of your squadron has gathered to spend their downtime. You push the door open and yell.

"Everybody!" You yell. "Get geared up and ready to go at any moment!"

"What? But we're not on call." Red frowns. "What's going on?"

You see Janice's eyes meet yours, and you can tell her intuition was already warning her about what was up. However, you have to say it out loud.

"Laika's been captured by the Russians." You announce. "She's going to need to be rescued, and we're the ones that are going to be doing it. I want the Ghost Hawk, Comanche, and your strikers ready to fly within hour! Hustle, people!"

Nobody even says a thing. They all wordlessly revert to soldier mode and immediately sprint out of the barracks to the hangar. However, Janice stays behind and her hand grips yours tight.

"Is she injured?" She asks, her voice barely whisper.

"I don't know." You sigh.

"Will she be safe?"

"I don't know." You shake your head. "But most likely. Laika's too important otherwise."

"It was a mistake to let her go." Janice's head droops.

"It was her choice. Just like the rest of us." You say, putting your finger under her chin and bringing her face back up. "Doesn't matter. We're going to get her back. I guarantee it."

That's when you feel something tug at your shirt, and you see Artya standing next to you, her mask now off. She holds up hastily scribbled note up to you.

Artya silently nods, the determination clear on her lightly scarred face.

Suddenly, you hear the door burst open and you see an out of breath Kelsey come in. It looked like he had literally run the whole way here.

"Colonel? That was fast." You blink.

"Well, there's some good news. It's a good thing I managed to catch you here." Kelsey pants for a second to catch his breath before continuing. "The Joint Chiefs came to a consensus and decided that Laika is too strategically important to lose to the Russians. They've authorized us utilize whatever resources we have to effect a rescue."

"I'm sensing a 'but' here, sir." You narrow your eyes.

"Well, a bit of a complication." Kelsey frowns. "We were contacted by people from Putin's faction. It appears they heard what happened as well and they want to provide some assistance."

"What kind of assistance?" Janice asks suspiciously. "I know Putin as shown an unnerving interest in Laika before."

"Mostly just intel." Kelsey explains. "He loses just as much as we do if the Russians get Laika back and manage to turn her. He's given us the location of the most likely area she's being held at."

"So what's he asking for in return?" You ask.

"Well, he confirmed Colonel Volgin is behind the kidnapping. He communicated his interest that in the event we capture Volgin, he be turned over to him. He seems to believe NATO would be 'too soft' on him."

"It's tempting." You admit.

"Of course, NATO Command is very much against it any sort of turnover." Kelsey warns. "A man like Volgin holds a lot of valuable intel, and they don't like the idea of Putin having access to it."

"That's implying he'd coming out of this alive." You growl.

"I understand that Volgin is an enemy combatant and casualties in the battlefield are completely unavoidable." Kelsey says sympathetically. "Even though NATO would greatly benefit from his capture, I will understand if Volgin refuses to be captured."

Yeah, Kelsey was practically telling you that if Volgin were to end up dead under any circumstance, he wouldn't bring any action against you. A bit comforting to know.

"All right, so we know where we're going?" You ask.

"Of course. That's why I asked another friend of ours to help." Kelsey turns to the door right as Anderson walks in.

"Pierce." Anderson nods at you.

"Sir." You salute.

"Okay, I'm going to get straight to the point there." Anderson brings out a map and rolls it out on the dining table. "According to Putin's intel, there's a secret GRU facility located here, just east of the Ukrainian border. Apparently it's used as a base to smuggle spies and black market goods into Ukraine and eastern Europe. Very secret, very fortified."

"What kind of assets do we have?" You ask.

(cont)

"Fortunately, Spectre team is the area doing recon. I've already tasked them to scout out the facility." Anderson grins.

"As for support, it's rather limited due to the short notice, but we've still got a lot to work with." Kelsey hands you a list. "We have your sister's squadron, Hessler and Elsa, and a company of Rangers ready to go right now. In addition, we'll chip in any air support we can provide, but given the AA defenses, don't rely on that too much."

"Dang." You whistle. "That's a lot of firepower for a rescue mission."

"Maybe a little too much." Anderson warns. "That's a lot of people we're going to have to transport. That makes things clunky, as well as increases the chances of detection. I would suggest using a smaller force. Maybe bring a squad of Rangers. A platoon at most."

"Good idea." Anderson nods. "Now, this all just preliminary, but Spectre Team found some points of interest around the area."

He points to the map again, circling three areas around the primary circle signifying the base.

"Right here is the front entrance. The base is built into the side of a mountain, and this tunnel is the only way in. It's protected by an armored door that's going to require heavy explosives to take down. A few miles to the east, we have a long range SAM battery of four S-300s which is going to severely hamper our ability to provide air support. Finally, there's landline that provides a direct communication link to a nearby army base that has an entire Guards division garrisoned there. Once the shooting happens, we have about 30 minutes before the place is crawling with Ivans. Spectre is in position to sabotage one of these sites to coordinate with your arrival. "Tell them to take out the SAM sites. We can handle the rest." You say. "We can have our air support destroy or slow down enemy reinforcements."

"Good thinking." Kelsey nods. "I'll get strike craft ready and waiting. I suggest you get moving. Time is of the essence, after all."

"Yes sir." You salute.

"Come back alive, soldier." Kelsey salutes back.

"I'll get everybody back alive, sir." You assure him.

"Go save your little girl." Anderson nods.

With that, you're already out the door and sprinting for the hangar. You can already see your squadron getting prepped to launch. However, you see a number of large, unfamiliar looking Chinooks. The were very smooth and angular, similar to how the Ghost Hawk looked...

"Ah, so YOU'RE the reason my brother told me to deploy these right away." Christina muses as she steps out from one of the Chinooks and waves. "I guess I shouldn't be surprised."

"These are your doing?" You ask, nodding to the stealth Chinooks."

"Of course. All that data you accumulated on the Ghost Hawk was extremely helpful." Christina nods. "We carried over all of the stealth techniques we incorporated into the Ghost Hawk into the Chinook design. What you see here now are the first four prototype Ghost Chinooks."

"Thanks a lot, Christina." You smile.

"No problem. You've taken good care of my daughter, it's the least I can do to help save yours." Christina smiles. "Just try not to get them too damaged, all right?"

"Sure thing." You nod. You then jog over to the hangar, where you see your witches and then some.

"Will!" Bree comes bounding out of the hangar and gives you a crushing bear hug. "I heard what happened! I'm gonna tear those red fuckers apart!"

"That's nice Bree, but I gotta breathe first!" You wheeze.

"Oh whoops, sorry." Bree lets go of you and backs up. "You sure pick up a lot of weird friends, though."

"We're not weird, just German!" Elsa cackles as she rolls forward. "You got any obstacles, me and Hess will bust right through them!"

"I'm still in debt of you for saving my life. It's only natural I return the favor." Hessler nods.

You're... you're really touched that everybody came together to help you out. However, before you can say anything cheesy or sentimental, Bullseye pokes his head out of the Ghost Hawk.

"Hey, Boss! You wanna save Laika? Let's get fucking moving! We've only got so many hours of darkness, you know!"

"You're right, let's get going." You say as you jump into the Ghost Hawk. Elsa also comes in and sits on the side, while Hessler goes to one of the Chinooks since her tank strikers were too heavy for the Ghost Hawk.

"All right, all units, let's go!" You announce over the radio.

"Wait!"

You turn to see Sokolov running forward, carrying a large briefcase as he tries to get aboard the Ghost Hawk.

"Whoa whoa WHOA!" You bark, pushing Sokolov back. "What are you doing, Sokolov?"

"If you're going to raid a GRU base, you'll need my assistance." Sokolov says, trying to drum up as much bravery as he can. "I helped design the the security systems all GRU bases use. I know their weaknesses and the types of encryption they use. If you want to penetrate their defenses quickly, you'll need my help."

"You're not just doing this because you feel you have to make up for Laika's capture, are you?" You narrow your eyes.

"I'll be lying to say that I wasn't... but if there's anything I can do, I'll help!" Sokolov says with conviction.

"All right, you can come along." You nod and turn to Rex. "Rex! Get him a spare vest and helmet! We don't want him getting picked off by a stray round or anything!"

"Got it." Rex says, grabbing some spare armor from a locker and hastily fitting it over the scientist. It was about a size or two too big for the scrawny little man, but it was better than wearing nothing. "He's good."

"All right. All units, take off!" You yell.

The air is filled with the sound the relatively silent humming of silenced rotors as your Ghost Hawk, the Comanche, and the four Chinooks take off. Immediately right behind, your and Bree's witches follow, taking picket positions alongside the flanks, front, and rear of the helo formation.

"Yo, Will." Bree swings closer to the Ghost Hawk. "I heard in the briefing that there's this bigass armored door and a Guards division we have to worry about."

"Yeah." You nod. "You proposing something?"

"Well, the Ranger guys are saying they've got enough explosives on them to breach the door, but I was figuring that might take too long." Bree says. "However, I'm sure a few magically enhanced AT-4s can bust that door down quick!"

"Are you sure that's a good idea using up all your AT munitions like that?" You ask.

"Well, that's why I'm asking you." Bree retorts.

Well, Bree's unit was packing lots of firepower, but it was very limited use. However, did have what Ugly's Comanche lacked, which was pure speed. They'd be able to cover lots of ground and blitz whatever they happened to come across.

"Just focus on suppressing the enemy defenses." You instruct. "Planting explosives won't be a problem if nobody can shoot at us."

"Got it!" Bree cackles. She waves at her squadron and they boost forward, their Strike Eagle strikers flaring in the darkness.

"We just passed over the border!" Bullseye announces. "Gamma One will accompany us while Gamma Two, Three, and Four will stay behind in reserve. We'll reach the LZ in fifteen minutes!"

"Actually, which LZ are we choosing?" Gamma One's pilot asks. "We have two different ones."

You hastily check your map. The primary LZ would put you a couple of miles away from the facility. Far enough away you could approach stealthily on foot. The secondary LZ was landing right in front of the entrance tunnel for maximum speed and minimal subtlety.

"We're going to do this fast and aggressive." You say. "We're going to land right at their front door."

"Roger that." Gamma One says.

Ahead of you, you can already see explosions and fire as Bree does her work. You see her with her MGL, cackling loudly as guard towers, gun emplacements, and pretty much anything that moved was felled by her explosive assault. Meanwhile, her witches were zipping about, dodging gunfire and laying down a steady bombardment of magically enhanced grenades. Immediately, air raid sirens begin blaring. Bree continues dropping grenades when she's forced to dodge to the side to dodge a rocket salvo.

"We got Hinds and witches in the air!" Bree warns.

"Don't worry, leave them to us." Janice says grimly. You see her and the rest of your witches boost forward to engage the aerial threats, tracers and magic shields immediately lighting up the sky.

"Shit, this is gonna be rough!" Bullseye grunts as he brings the Ghost Hawk in low and fast to avoid potential AA fire. At this point, you had less to fear from actual targeted attacks, and more from being accidentally hit from the sheer walls of lead being thrown around at this point. Hoskins mans the door gun and unloads a stream of tracers at the ground below. Bullseye flares the Ghost Hawk at the last second, causing the whole craft to lurch and tossing you around.

"All right, go go go!" Bullseye roars.

You, Rex, Red, Artya, and Sokolov leap out while Elsa stays behind on board the Ghost Hawk to provide aerial sniper support. About thirty meters behind you, the Gamma One lands and begins disgorging Hessler and the Ranger platoon. You drag Artya and Sokolov over to an abandoned BTR.

"Artya, you watch Sokolov and don't go ANYWHERE." You yell, barely audible over the gunfire in the background. Artya nods and loads her rifle.

You glance back to see the Chinook taking off and the Rangers scattering to take up firing positions. One squad hustles up to and immediately begins planting charges on the closed security door.

"Captain Pierce, I'm Sergeant Foley!" The Ranger salutes. "We're tasked with help you breach the facility and extract the package!"

"What about the other squads?" Red asks.

"They'll hold the entrance open and prevent anybody inside from escaping." Foley says. "Now, we have no idea what's waiting for us inside, so-"

"Will! I'm picking up an alert from a nearby AWACS! It's picking up a Tu-160 approaching at high speed!"

"What?" You gasp.

"EVERYBODY TAKE COVER!" Foley roars. You see his squad scatter while you run back to the BTR, Rex and Red following close behind.

"Jan, is it firing anything?!" You ask in desperation.

"Missile launch confirmed!" Janice gasps. "Wait... it's breaking off. It's only fired one missile!"

Before you can even ask why a Tu-160 would only ever fire one cruise missile, you can see a bright flare of light in the sky, brighter than even the magical energy pouring out of the numerous witch strikers flying above. The missiles then explodes, or rather, it breaks apart midair, and you see a large parachute deploy.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0TN68sp-vIw

And right in front of you lands Raikov in a fresh set of tank strikers.

"Raikov?" You gasp.

"You!" Red dashes forward, drawing her sword.

"Believe me, I have my reservations being here too." The Russian witch growls. "But orders are orders, and I have been instructed to assist you."

"Bullshit." Red growls back.

You then see Foley's squad approach cautiously, weapons drawn while Hessler positions herself behind Raikov.

"I was sent here by Putin to provide assistance." Raikov scowls. "Otherwise, I could have killed you all seven times over by now."

"What's the call, Captain?" Foley asks, his rifle still trained on the Russian tankwitch.

"Hold your fire. She'll be a big help for us when we breach." You say.

"Whatever you say, sir." Foley says, still eying Raikov suspiciously. "Ramirez! Get those charges planted!"

As the Rangers move to demolish the door, you notice Red and Raikov still shooting poisonous glances at each other.

"I'm assuming those two have a past." Hessler frowns.

"Oh yeah, a very complicated one." You nod.

"You should apologize to Cap." Red scowls. "You nearly killed him, after all."

"I'm under no obligation to apologize." Raikov huffs. "It is war. Things like this happen."

"Girls, FOCUS." You snap. "While I would like to give Raikov shit here for nearly killing me, we don't have the time to."

"Charges set!" Foley bellows. "Take cover!"

There's a loud BANG as the armored doors are ruptured. However, waiting inside are four Russian tank witches, glaring you with their blank eyes. They aim their cannons, but before they can fire, they're suddenly engulfed in a cloud of searing smoke, courtesy of Artya. Thanks to the distract, Raikov and Hessler are able to gain the initiative. Hessler uses her massive arm mounted pile bunker to strike the nearest witch. Her shields hold, but the sheer momentum sends her flying back, slamming into the mountain wall and stunning her. Raikov tackles a second tank witch and locks her in a nasty choke hold.

However, the next two witches barrel out of the tunnel, still rubbing the smoke from their eyes. But being in the open, they're easy targets for Ugly and Elsa as they bracket the two witches with heavy fire.

"Go!" Hessler as she keeps her opponent pinned to the wall with her pile bunker.

"We shall catch up!" Raikov grunts as she wrestles her own opponent.

"All right, let's go go go!" Foley and his squad leads the way in.

"Artya! Sokolov! Come on!" You wave for them to follow. "And Artya, good job with that distraction!"

Artya nods her head rapidly. You can tell she's smiling ear to ear with the compliment.

The battle through the innards of the base is a brutal slog as the GRU Spetsnaz guards attempt to mount a vicious defense. However, with Red providing shield and protection and Artya laying down distracting smokescreens, you have enough tactical aids to advance.

"Shit, this is going to be rough!" Foley grumbles as he checks two of his wounded men." These guys are damn near suicidal! We're never going to get anywhere!"

"If you can get me the security control room, I can lock down the whole facility!" Sokolov suggests. "We can lock down the guards and keep them away from us!"

"What about Laika?"

"If this layout is similar to the other bases, Volgin will most likely be taking her to an emergency hangar." Sokolov explains. "If we can fight our way to the control room, I can assist your advance!"

"You can't lock them in?" You ask.

"There's a manual override for the emergency hangar door. It was meant as an escape route, after all." Sokolov explains. "But the manual override takes time to complete. We can still get there!"

"Both ways are bound to be heavily guarded, though." Foley warns.

Hey now, not all of us are like that. The Central Valley and the foothills/mountains all have a lot of people that know about guns.

It's the coastal cities that are all terrified of guns, yet couldn't tell the difference between a rifle and a power washer.

Unfortunately, they're the ones with all the politicians, so laws pander to their wants.

Incidentally, they're also the ones stealing all our water. Wells in the Central Valley are going dry with alarming frequency, and farmers are getting hit with more watering restrictions. The cities however are diverting all that they can so that their lawns look nice and pretty, while whole communities are loosing access to water.

TLDR: 90% of the bad things people say about California comes from the coastal cities.
>>
>>41496121
If you want that then vote for it anon instead of getting all pissy and passive aggressive.

Farmers make up 80 percent of all water usage in california, and most of it is for cash crops that wouldn't be able to grow in this climate if they didn't use so much of the shit in the first place. They can pretend as much as they want that residential water use is the problem, but they would be wrong.

"All right, Foley, you take half your team and get Sokolov to that control room. Rex, you go with them, too."

"Got it." Rex nods.

"All right. Ramirez, you lead the second team. Make sure the Captain here gets his girl back." Foley says.

Ramirez silently nods. He kind of reminds you a little of Tarin, actually.

"Red, Artya, you're coming with me." You say.

And so the two groups split up. You dash down the narrow tunnels, but thankfully don't come against much resistance.

"Sokolov, how are things going?" You ask.

"We reached the control room! I've already locked down your path, so its just a straight shot there!" He says. "I also unlocked the blast door so you can get in-"

"WATCH OUT!" You hear Foley yell and the line suddenly cut off.

"Sokolov? SOKOLOV!" You try to get a response.

"Is hey okay?" Red asks nervously.

"Let's hope he is." You sigh. "Let's keep moving."

Sure enough, as you proceed down the halls, you notice all of the side passages are locked off. On a few, you can hear incessant pounding from the men trapped on the other side. However, you couldn't waste time worrying about them. You finally reach the last door, is wide open like Sokolov had promised.

However, there's a team of GRU soldiers watching the door, and they immediately start firing, forcing you to take cover. Cursing, you peek around the side and see Volgin carrying a struggling Laika to what looks to be a waiting MiG-31 supersonic fighter. No doubt modified for a speedy escape. In between you and them, there's a squad of GRU soldiers forming a rudimentary defensive line.

"How are we gonna get through that?" Red asks.

"All right, Artya, you stay behind a lay down a smokescreen." You instruct. "Red, you and me will blitz in. Keep us covered with your shield. Priority is disabling that fighter!"

"No problem!" Red grins.

Artya silently nods in assent.

"Ramirez, you and your guys give us covering fire. Just make sure not to fire on our approach."

"Got it, sir." Ramirez nods.

"All right, go!" You bark.

Immediately, Artya steps out from the door and holds both arms out. A maelstrom of smoke and burning embers swirls through the middle of the hangar, causing the GRU soldiers to flinch and scream in pain and surprise as they're engulfed in the stinging barrage. At the same moment, Red sprints forward, her shield protecting both her and you from the searing wind and stray bullets. Behind you, you can hear the barking of rifle fire as Ramirez and the Rangers pour suppressing fire.

Up ahead, you can see the silhouettes of two soldiers stumbling through the smoke. Red takes out her sword and swings once, and you hear four wet THUMPS on the ground as you spring past.

Finally, you're past the storm, and you see Volgin loading a struggling Laika into the backseat of the MiG-31.

You don't even hesitate and fire off a few shots. You were intending to wound him to make him more compliant. However, to you shock, there's a flash red and the bullets are deflected away from him.

He had shields.

"Impossible!" You gasp. "How can you use shields?"

"A certain little project of mine." Volgin chuckles, his entire body now glowing an unsettling red. He then drops down to the ground, his boots making a loud and heavy THUMP on the ground.

"Red, keep Volgin busy while I secure Laika!" You snap. "And be careful! The bastard can somehow use witch shields!"

"Got it, Cap!" Red says with a grin as she barrels past you and charges at Volgin. She swings her sword, which Volgin deflects away with his shielded arms with a loud crash of opposing magic shields contacting each other.

"Ah, the one who defeated my previously favorite witch." Volgin's eyes light up with enthusiasm.

As Red and Volgin battle, you hastily climb up the boarding latter, where you're nearly hit in the face with a thrown flight helmet.

"Whoa, Laika, careful, it's me!" You say.

"Willy?" Laika blinks, before tears well up in her eyes and she blubbers. "WILLY!"

"Don't worry, you're safe now." You say, picking her up as she hugs you tight.

"Is this all you're capable of? To think Raikov was so weak!" Volgin taunts as he continually deflect Reds blows.

"Heh, laugh all you want, you probably can't keep those shields up forever!" Red retorts.

"And neither can yours." Volgin responds as she aims a powerful punch. It's too fast for Red to dodge, and it impacts against her shield. Red winces from the effort of keeping it intact.

You at first fear that Red might lose, when suddenly the hangar door explodes inward, causing both Red and Volgin to hesitate in surprise as Raikov saunters in.

"Colonel!" Raikov's familiar bloodthirsty smile returns. "It's been too long, and we have so much to talk about!"

"Ah, the little bitch who scurried off to hide under Putin's wing." Volgin gives a toothy grin. "I will enjoy molding you back into my perfect weapon."

You see Raikov hesitate for a second. You almost swear you saw fear on her face, but the moment quickly passes and she regains her composure.

"Not today, Colonel. Not ever. You won't subject another witch to same treatment ever again."

Red then looks at you curiously, wondering what to do.

"Go for it, Red." You say.

"Yessssss." Red grins, resetting her sword stance.

Raikov meanwhile readies herself in a similar fashion. However, unlike before, she's not carrying that big, clunky power claw anymore. Instead, like red, she sports a sword. It appears to be a cavalry saber of some sort.

And for the first time since you've seen him, you see uncertainty flutter across Volgin's face. Against a single witch, Volgin may have held his own, but against two, especially close combat masters like Red and Raikov, Despite being near polar opposites, Red and Raikov had this odd capacity to be able to nonverbally synchronize their moves, as if they existed on the same frequency or something. Perhaps they were more similar than you realized.

Meanwhile, Volgin is quickly taken down as his shields are literally sliced away by repeated sword strikes. Finally, he's left kneeling on the ground, exhausted and with multiple cuts.

"Well the, it appears I've been beaten." He says, still managing to smile in his weakened state. "What do you intend to do, Captain? Kill me? Capture me? Hand me over to that traitorous dog Putin?"

"Well, I'm just going to start with this." You say simply before freeing up one of your arms and giving Volgin a vicious right hook, flattening him on his back. "Red, tie him up. We're hauling him back to base."

"Sure thing, Cap!" Red says happily. "What was a great punch!"

"Thanks, I've been practicing." You say, massaging your shoulder.

"Anyways..." You turn to Raikov a bit awkwardly. "So uh... thanks for the help?"

"No need for thanks." Raikov grunts. "Our interests just happened to align. Though I very much would have liked killing him myself."

"Not your call." You sigh. "Give my regards to Putin."

"I shall." Raikov nods. "Oh, and little one."

"Wha, me?" Laika, who is still clinging to you, turns to Raikov warily.

"You may not remember me, and this may be the last time you will ever see me." Raikov sighs. "But just know that Ivanna Raikov is sorry for everything she has done to you."

And with that, Raikov rolls out of the breach she had made and disappears. However, despite her words, you get the feeling that this won't be the last time you see her. Not by a long shot.

However, the moment is suddenly interrupted when the entire room rumbles.

"Captain! Captain!" Foley's voice suddenly crackles on the radio.

"Foley?"

"Thank god! We finally got through!" Foley sighs in relief. "Captain, look, the attack structurally compromised the facility! You gotta get out of there now!"

"You heard him, people! Move!" You yell, pointing to the breach in the hangar door. Looks like Raikov helped you more than she realized. Red snatches up the unconscious Volgin and you all hustle out with Ramirez and the rest of the Rangers. You manage to rendezvous with the rest of your forces, who seem to be mopping up the last of the GRU soldiers.

"Jan, I hate to hurry you like this, but we have to get moving." You say as you take custody of Laika again. "Rally everybody up and lets get moving."

"R-right." Janice nods and takes off into the sky again.

You hop back into the Ghost Hawk, where you see Sokolov sitting over an unconscious Rex.

"He shielded me from a thrown grenade." Sokolov says sadly. "Janice said that he should live, but he's still in serious condition."

"What happened to the Russian witches?" You ask, looking around.

"Raikov took custody of them when she left." Hessler explains, looking rather unhappy. "I would have preferred that we take them with us, but we don't have the space, anyways."

"I see." You nod as you board the Ghost Hawk. Red tosses Volgin's unconscious and tied up body into the Ghost Hawk before boarding as well.

"All right Bullseye, take us home." You say.

>And that's it for tonight!
>And so starts the hiatus for PJW! I'll probably wrap this up with either an epilogue thread or just post character epilogues in the final '89 thread. We'll see what happens.
>Either way, thanks again to everybody who's been following this quest! I'm taking a break from questing on Sundays, so be sure to keep up with Ace Combat on Fridays and Vertical Tanks on Saturdays!

Uhh Merc that option had the least votes by my count, it was never a leading option at any time in the vote.
>>
>>41497445

Thanks Merc, we'll see ya next time
>>
>>41497445
Well that happen.
Thanks for the PJ witches boss, helluva a good run.

Bree and his BF lewd then.
>>
>>41497445
T(h)anks for running merc!

Pity we didnt hand him over to Putin for Fun Torture Times.
>>
>>41497445
Thanks for running Merc, catch you in the next thread.
>>
>>41497445
thanks for running
>>
>>41497474

Like that's what it would have been.

Hahahaha. hahahahahahaha!
>>
>>41497445
Are you going to post on twitter if you do that post in SW89? not everyone here reads that.

But there's nothing wrong with rest.

Sorry, I'm a bit tired so the votes at this point kinda melded together. The fact that a lot of people were also multivoting didn't help matters, either.

typo.
>>

So much for that ending
>>
>>41497483

So, since it won't happen, care to enlighten us as to what would happen?
>>
Nice ending Merc. Will look forward too the epilogue.
>>
>>41497445
It was a great run, Merc. We'll miss everyone. Thank you.

>>41497473
Maybe next week, Manga. I'm the anon who promised that, but I suffered a severe case of writing block these past few months. After pumping out all those fluff a month back I think I can finally continue it.
>>
>>41497483
What would have happen?

Does that mean Frank won't have his big moment iether?
>>
>>41497511
nah, i mean i would make some art of Bree lewding.
>>
>>41497508

Presumably? Considering everything he had his hands in, he'd be packed off to a remote end of siberia, had his people packed off there with him... and picked right back up where he left off, minus the freedom of movement and relative comfort he enjoyed as a free man.
>>
>>41497523
Ah, I see.

Have we ever told you that you are awesome, Manga? Because I'll tell it to you again: "You're awesome, Manga."
>>
>>41497366

He's not. He's almost certainly going to give the guy a job somewhere hidden.
>>
>>41497445
It's been a fun ride Merc!

Take care Merc.

Sayonara, samefag mcgee.

>>
>>41497580
>>41497586
Literally what?
>>
>>41497586
>>41497580
U wot m8? Kind of funny considering the vote that came 2nd place was the one that samefagged obviously, though halfheartedly. But nope, shitposters gotta shitpost when Merc screwed the last vote of the quest and once more Volgin gets away because of BS.
>>
>>41497616
We took him away from the Russians who can barely be trusted as is.
>>
>>41497628
Some people wants his blood flowing, anon.
>>
>>41497628
Indeed, its the better result of the two options that lost.
>>
>>41497642
What's the option that won?

I hope it wasn't >Transform into Coldsteel The Operator, Flip Coin
>>
>>41497664
Him not leaving alive.
>>
>>41497677
The obviously samefagged option that added more unique IPs to the thread?

I'm glad Merc chose to ignore it in the end. Those people don't deserve to be rewarded.
>>
>>41497688
Uhh no, sending him to Putin was the one that was samefagged anon.
>>
>>41497688
>Merc literally said he screwed up
If he, you know, actually said it was samefags I'd take it from him more than I'll take it from random angry anon #7
>>
>>41497716
>The fact that a lot of people were also multivoting didn't help matters, either.
he actually also said this if you were paying attention
>>
>>41497730
Mhm. An understandable mistake is still a mistake
>>
>>41497730
You do know what multivoting is right? It's not even close to samefagging.

To clarify, multivoting is when anons put multiple vote options into a single choice. It sometimes makes counting them a little more difficult, especially when the votes mean different things.
>>
>>41497752
It's just amazing how the IP count jumped up for that last vote alone, isn't it.

Players can blame the QM all they want, but the QM didn't force them to be shitlords and multivote to change the outcome of the thread. That's a hundred percent on those fags.
>>
>>41497768
I'm not sure what you think multivotes are but they clearly are not what you believe they are, they're just when people want to combine or alter votes and can get a little messy, its not some grand conspiracy against you anon, multivoting didn't change anything.

>>41497768
Are you still trying to conflate multivotes with samefagging?
>>
>>41497787
He is, laughably enough, even after everyone including Merc have pointed out how wrong he is.
>>
>>41497768
You mean whenever a big vote hits lurkers come out to vote? You don't say cupcake.
>>
>>41497787
Seems like a fair thing to call out people for being what they are. They have to actually use their phones or reset their connection to get away with it these days since 4chan now displays the number of unique posters in a thread.

In the old days they'd just post anon.
>>
>>41497797
I always thought samefags were supposed to do tricks with the text next to the vote itself, not actually change their IP anyway. At least that's what the "experts" say in other threads whenever they're convinced of wrongdoing
>>
>>41497817
How does one person voting for two things equate to one person voting for the same thing multiple times.
It just doesn't follow.
>>
Either way, I doubt Volgin is going to survive any Nuremberg style shenanigans that result from this. There's too many witnesses here to disappear him, and I doubt Pierce'll allow him to be spirited away.
>>
>>41497818
You do realize beyond the opening post that ip counter is worthless, right?
>>
>>41497840
Yeah, hence why someone claiming that it proves samefagging is confounding me
>>
>>41497840

Kinda. If you've got a choice up with more votes than unique IPs, it does tend to signal something's up.
>>
>>41497853
Though with the audience that these threads get that would take some intense samefagging
>>
>>41497868
It's strike witches. Samefagging and multivoting happens.

Some nerds absolute need to win certain votes.
>>
>>41497891
All I said was that with large numbers of posters, the threshold of 'more votes than ips' becomes harder to reach.
Also why are you continuing to be so wrong about multivoting
>>
>>41497868

Oh yeah, no doubt. I can count on one hand the number of times I've had it happen in a thread. Just saying, the IP counter can be useful in very rare situations, hahaha
>>
>>41497817
You still don't know that multivoting =|= samefagging? Seriously? How can you be that dumb.
>>
>>41497891
>and multivoting happens.
>multivoting

So voting for more than one option in the one vote is a crime? Multivoting has NO impact on vote numbers at all you blithering retard.
>>
This is why Quests are a cancer on /tg/.
