You are a Magical Girl, and you're trying to bust your sempai out from a prison cell that's killing her.

Her witch familiar - a living, sentient balljointed doll that's as cute as it is frankly unnerving - has assured you that whatever's killing her is taking its time, however. That it's a slow enough process that you don't have to panic and blast your way through a guard detail of Eversors - as well as tempered steel doors two feet thick - to get her out of there as soon as posible. It means you have time. Time to explore your options. Time to try and figure out a plan for the best way to get her out of there without...well, without bunging it all up and killing the both of you. Or probably the whole Officio. Whichever comes first.

And you're exploring one of your options now. Specifically, the option to ask a 'seer' for help, someone who can, as your sempai's familiar put it, 'walk the Akashic Realm'. Although now you're thinking if the familiar, as cute as she was, meant something else other than the hell behind reality when she said that. Like, maybe, 'street corner'.

Because the person in front of you, sitting on the straw mat-covered floor with a balding salaryman's snoring head on her lap - and dressed so unconvincingly like a nun that she looks more like someone out of a fetish convention rather than a church - was the farthest thing from the mysterious, spiritual Magical Girl you've been imagining.

In fact, she looked like she did things for money. ...Things other than having her lap used like a pillow while she watches variety punishment game shows on TV.

It wouldn't be that far of a stretch of an imagination, after all. You're pretty sure nun habits aren't supposed to have that big of a cleavage window, nor are nuns supposed to be working out of a freakin' Deli Heal Agency!
>>
>>41541333

...No, no. Focus, Hanegawa. You're here to save your sempai. And you'll do whatever it takes to get her out of there, even it means having to talk to people you normally wouldn't. Even if it means having to deal with shady, suspicious characters like cult leaders, and prostitutes dressed in nun costumes!

"...I'm not sure what Wendy told ya, and I know all this looks a certain way," The person in question suddenly speaks, snapping you back into reality, her soft unpainted lips curling into a gentle if somewhat patronizing smile. "...But we ain't doin' anythin' illegal here. Deli Heal's just a convenient front, nothin' else. Keeps most of the normies out, and those who actually do work up the balls to come in..." She gestures to the sleeping salaryman at her lap. "We give 'em tea, maybe a pressure point massage, and send 'em on their way when they wake up. They're usually too refreshed an' well-rested to say anythin'. Any money they pay us goes directly to the Church fund, helpin' disenfranchised Magical Girls to get back on their feet."

That's...well, that's all well and good, but you didn't say anything about anything illegal--

"Miss Hanegawa, please don't insult us both by denyin' it." Annie May Springfield - supposedly also the former Eversor Rank Leader of the Eighth - waves a perfectly-manicured hand in dismissal. "Even if I can't read your mind, it's easy enough to guess." She shrugs here, the motion making her substantial bosom shift interestingly in its tight confines. "Mind, I don't really give a shit if you think I suck dicks for money, but there's the rest of my girls that I don't want bein' associated with that kind of nonsense. Girls like Amber, who's mannin' the reception desk right now, and Dorothy, who's probably havin' an oil change or whatever, and Wendy..."

[1/2]
>>
>>41541348

A sigh leaves her lips as she says the name. "Wendy. Yeah. Girl's got enough on her plate already, don't need to pile on another scoop of mashed potatoes all over the mess. Even though I know she'll eat it all up with a smile, because she's just that kinda person. Crusty on the outside--"

...Gooey and warm on the inside? You suggest here, which makes her guffaw loudly.

"...I was gonna say 'spoiled rotten to the core', but let's go with that." Annie chuckles. "Anyway, that's enough yakkin' from me. What brings you here, then?"

AH. Well. You were gonna introduce yourself, but it seems she already knows who you are. And you know her name already too, so...

"Right, right, we don't need to make introductions, but just for the record, you can call me Annie. I'd prefer Alice, but that's just usually on formal papers an' when I'm out preachin' to the flock." She grins here, showing two rows of white, perfect teeth. "And you're Hanegawa Midori, right? Can I call you Green, too, or is that just what Wendy calls ya?"

...Well. It's not like you're not used to people calling you by the English meaning of your name. But all the same, maybe Midori'll be better.

"Alright, that's fair. Midori it is, then." Annie nods. "Now, what's gotten ya so desperate that you had to ask me, of all people, for help? Be honest now."

And it's here that you tell her about your...predicament. Not in any real compromising detail, no. Just enough to clue her in on the most basic level, while being vague enough not to give anything incriminating away.

[2/3]
>>
>>41541359

You have a friend who needs help, you say. Spiritual help. Something's happening to her, something bad enough that she'd been locked in a Silent Room by your own incubator. And you have it on good authority that staying in that silent room is doing more harm than good, and she needs to be let out. But your incubator is adamant that your friend stays in there, on the assumption that whatever was happening would be 'fixed' with enough time and patience. And you know that this isn't the case at all.

So what you're here for is to ask Annie for help. Help in getting your friend fixed, as well as getting her out of there.

"...I see." Annie nods. 'Well, first of all, that's pretty fuckin' vague, pardon my French there. I can't reasonably tell ya what's up with them, or what I'd do to get them 'fixed' as you so imply." She mimes the quotation marks here, a wry grin on her face.

"But since you're probably bein' vague for a reason - said reason bein' that you don't exactly trust me much, somethin' I don't rightly deserve and personally a bit offended by - I'd probably start with a prayer service, then a readin' of the Holy Scripture with the Anointing of the Oils, stuff like that. Then if that doesn't help, we do a Healing Mass for her, storm the Blessed Lady with loads of prayers, more readings, lots of hymn-singing that Wendy is actually really good at leadin'. You gotta hear her sometime, I think I got a recordin' here on my phone somewhere--"

You hold up a hand. That's...those sound nice, but do they work at all...?

"...Honestly?" Annie shakes her head. "Not really. Fact is, it really depends on the person you're prayin' for. If they've got it in them for the prayers to work. Otherwise, all it does is make the people who care about her a bit more at peace about the inevitable. Sorta palliative care, but for the people around the patient, not for the patient itself."

>>41541377

But what about exorcism? Wendy told you about exorcism, and how Annie can perform it. She told you how it might be able to help Chiaki. You don't really understand it yourself, but you're willing to give it a shot.

Annie stares at you for a couple of long, silent moments before shaking her head. "Exorcism ain't somethin' I do lightly, and just for anyone. I only do it when I think it needs to be done, and if I think it'll actually do somethin'. Right now, from what you told me, Midori, your friend's on her way to becomin' a full-blown Witch." She shrugs her shoulders. "Nothin' I can do about that. Every one of us turns into one of those sooner or later, assumin' we don't die first. Exorcism is for stuff that isn't about that - it's about ghosts. Spirits. Souls tryin' to go where they're not supposed to go." The nun-priestess sighs here, looking down on the salaryman on her lap, fingers brushing through his balding hair with a tender, if wistful air. "Souls takin' what they're not supposed to take."

She looks back up after a moment. "Exorcism can fix those things. It ain't like the movies where you just shout at things until they throw up green pea soup, though. There's a lot more metaphysics goin' on, stuff even I can't rightly explain. But yeah, right now, I can't reasonably justify exorcism from what you told me." A blink, then a smile. A friendly one. "Unless ya wanna just stop bein' so vague and just come out with it."

So, how can we be sure that someone interceding with Pinky to sav Chiaki will gt us the result we want?
Isn't it far more likely that Pinky, who already intervened once to help us and Chiaki by bringing Manuke to us, will make sure that it's Homura that is restored and in control of the Warmater's body, and not Chiaki?

Kyubey isn't watching Annie he's watching MIDORI. Because he knows that she's likeliest to do something crazy, like break into the Golden vault or get someone to perform an exorcism.
>>
>>41541728
You have to consider that the Church of the Golden Land is a group of magical girls that mainly come from the 8th, and even the equerry is there. Do you honestly think that Kyuubey is not going to have them under whatch?
>>
>>41541697
Any Homura. One that knows what she did and is sorry for it, maybe even a pale echo of TTO, since what Pinky wants is a Homura that knows the mistakes she inflicted upon Godoka to create Faust, and who Pinky can then torture in retaliation.
Because it's no fun if the Homura she tortures doesn't remember why she's being tortured.

Pinky herself said the end result of what's happening go Chiaki, getting all of her memories so she knows what she did wrong, is what she wants.
But the current process which is likely to end with Chiaki Witching Out before Pinky can torture Homura isn't quite what she wants.
That was the only reason she helped us catch Manuke, and if she does help stop Chiaki Witching Out, then it'll be because she wants Homura, not Chiaki.
>>
>>41541780
So basically the trainwreck is about to start any moment?
>>
>>41541847
I want to think that no, but let´s be realistic: we all know things are going to blow like a fucking atomic bomb at any moment. The questions are when and for what.
>>
>>41541882
Well like I was saying, pretty sure it's gonna be kyubey being a party pooper and saying

"no midori you cant perform an exorcism. and dont even start about throwing the golden gun in vault to see what happens."

Or maybe we'll have no problems with him whatsoever and something will fuck everything up.
>>
>>41541455 >>41541466 >>41541473 >>41541502

No. You can't show your hand too early. You have to know more before you do that.

You clear your throat here, and make to ask Annie about exorcism, when she takes a cushion from behind her and tosses it at your feet. "Here, take a load off and rest your ass on this. You look like you've been runnin' around all day with barely any sleep, sportin' eyebags nearly as big as Wendy's."

...Ah. You thank her, and do so immediately - forcing an involuntary sigh from your lips as you settle into the comfort of the well-used cushion. A moment later, you finally follow through with your question. Namely, does exorcism actually work for people who needed it? People she'd performed it on?

Annie smirks, a sly and cunning thing that would have looked cute on a child. Here it just looks...well, the slightest bit disturbing. "Still not tellin', huh? Fine, I can respect that. As for your question, well, I can't rightly say. I mean, I've done it for more than a handful of folks, so I'm not just pullin' stuff out of my ass or anythin', and they seemed ta be back to their normal selves after it, but..."

And there it is. The 'but' that shatters every forlorn hope into pieces, every threadbare wish into tatters. But...?

"But well, there's really no way of tellin', ya know?" Annie raises her hands in the universal sign of ignorance. "It ain't like a disease where you take some medicine and then the doc runs some tests and says you're clear. Sure I do readings after an' explorin' their psyche, burnin' incense around 'em and hypnosis and all that...but ya never really know if it really took, if things are a hunnert percent legit."

You stare at the American's eyes with your own - and it's only here that you notice that they're the same shade of red as yours. It's a strange coincidence, but it's there. "But they returned to their normal selves, right? It worked?"

[1/2]
>>
>>41542270

"...Yeah, I guess so," Annie muses. "I mean, some of these girls, they were really in a bad way when I got called in. Like the Blessed Lady just up and decided to fuck with their minds, right? Just screamin' and yellin' all sorta nonsense, throwin' up blood and clawin' at their eyes. Absolutely nothing on their soul gems, so everyone's noodle was gettin' baked to shit about it. So I try my best, do my thing, and..."

She presses both palms together, and then spreads them in a flourish. "Girl wakes up, no memory of what happened, but no longer crazier than a long-tailed cat in a room full of rockin' chairs. Happened probably in...say, 70, 80 percent of the cases I had to handle."

What happened to the other 20 to 30 percent, then?

The nun-garbed girl mimes putting a gun to her forehead and then pulling the trigger. "Some of them did it, others I had to finish the job myself. Not very pretty when it happens, but ya move on. I tried to. Kept telling myself it's impossible to save everyone."

Oh. That's...yeah. That sounds terrible.

"Better resting in oblivion than suffering every wakin' moment, stuck in a goddamn box." Annie shakes her head in slow, quiet derision. "My opinion, of course. In that I don't want to wish that kind of shit on anyone."

70, 80% chance of your sempai going back to her regular self. That's...not too bad odds, right?

What do you do?

It'll be a trainwreck, but a 70 to 80% chance (barring the inevitable complications) is far better than what we'll get trying to break into the vault.
>>
Assuming that the exorcism is our best option, how is she gonna do it? Did she need to be with the possesed, or can she do it a t a distance? Because sneaking Annie into the Officio is going to be near impossible
>>
>>41542411
I think the reason it's a trainwreck option is because there's a decent chance she's a pinky fanatic who's gonna kill Chiaki for being TTO.
>>

That's when Faust didn't have a personal stake in the girl in question nding up with a specific set of memories and personality different from the one we want.

Woo I finally catch a running thread!

I'd just like to say: You people are fucking retarded, goddamn.

Anyways: I think this whole exorcism thing is a bad idea. Pinky is more likely to push Homura into witchdom than help her at all. My bet is on getting the golden weapon to her so that the Stooges can help stabilize her.
>>
>>41542302
>[X]Tell her what she needs to know about Chiaki to make a proper diagnosis.
>>
>>41542488
To be honest BOTH choices are bad ideas.
Either we risk bringing in a cultist and pissing off everyone at the office OR, we break into the vault thereby pissing off everyone at the office.
We're fucked.
>>
>>41542533
Breaking into the vault and pissing people off is safer, I think, because Chiaki can pardon us once she's sane again.

Bringing in a cultist spreads knowledge about what's going on in the Ninth, which means damage control is harder.
>>
>>41542302
The Church and the Ninth are kind of in a de-facto alliance at this point. Ask outright if Annie, as head of the church and probably QB's direct contact there, has agreed to any sort of information sharing deal with QB.
>>
>>41542533
Yeah, but which is more likely to get what Midori wants (Chiaki back, not Homura)?
Since both options will piss off everyone at the Officios, doesn't it make sense to choose the one that will at least get us what we want?
>>
>>41542545
I didn't know you were such an optimist Anon.
assuming Chiaki will even be able to keep her post as warmaster after we're done
>>
>>41542582
Kyuubey himself told Matsuda that when this situation is stabilized, she will continue to be warmaster
>>
>>41542647
That doesn't rule out QB lying.
>>
>>41542647
... Maybe he lied?
I know incubators don't lie, they just don't tell you the whole truth, but think about it.
If he knew about Malal's plan, which Chiaki knows he did, he would probably realize that her mind would get wiped the next time she went to sleep, so he really just wanted her to not make a scene before she gets brainwashed. I order for that to happen, he would simply tell her what she wanted to hear without sounding implausible.
>>
Well, the situation as I understand it is that all the various personalities Homura has had over the eons are warring for dominance.

Annie here is offering a chancy solution that doesn't always work.

Getting the Golden Deagle will let the 3 Stooges who arranged for the Chiaki persona to enter the fray and support her.

I think the Golden Deagle plan is better.
>>
>>41542302

[]Tell her what she needs to know about Chiaki to make a proper diagnosis
>>
>>41542693
>I know incubators don't lie
It's also been implied that the more time QB spends among humans the more he takes on their traits, which could include the capacity to lie.
>>
>>41542692
>>41542693
Well, yes. But, if the mindwipe doesn´t work, he will be forced to make Chiaki warmaster again, because the other option would be to reveal the plan:
"Ok, Matsuda, I lied to your face. I was waiting for your mind to be erased by a memory of Malal, so I didn´t told you the truth. Now that you remain your memories, can you forgive me? Pretty please?"
He has to make a concede that if he wants to maintain the little trust that Chiaki has in him
>>
>>41542751
Well, if she didn't get mindwiped, there would be no real issue with her being warmaster again until he solved out his plan.
>>
>>41542751
I really doubt that's what's going to happen.
Really I think when we're finished we're going to be on the run from everyone.
>>
>>41542764
>until he solved out his plan.
All he wanted wa for Chiaki to collect the Golden Weapons and confront Faust without becoming TTO.

And the players had to hand over Chiaki's Soul Gem to find that out, when QB had already told us to collect the Golden Weapons, and we were going to face Faust anyway because that's what Pinky wanted.
>>
>>41542780
I don't know about everyone else, but I would like to not become the enemy of the entire magical world until absolutely necessary
>>
>>41542844
There was a lot of things that Chiaki didn´t knew, and more that she discovered along the way. So when the opportunity to know more/everything presented, anons jumped for it. Seriously, QB, couldn´t you have revealed more to Chiaki?
>>
While I can understand the thirst for knowledge, handing your soulgem to the enemy was weapons-grade stupidity. If I were Decu, I'd have had her crush the gem right there.

Honestly. Some of you guys have no conception of consequence.
>>
>>41542883
Really, what did handing over our Soul Gem and getting into this mess reveal?
The only thing that it did was that Malal had implanted memory wipes set on triggers if it looked like Chiaki was going down a path of fail/turning into TTO.

Otherwise, we had already been told everything else, and we basically got a whole lot of trouble for nothing.

Indeed... Odds are pretty high that an exorcism won't work at all, or Pinky will just use it as an excuse to instal a true Homura at the helm rather than Chiaki. She'd have her pick this time if you think about it.

Annie can still be used as a smoke-screen to cover for the real plan. That's what I think.

What >>41543482 said. We haven't gotten a legit option to back out of this when we got two attempts to push us into this useless conversation which is clearly a bad idea

Assuming she's telling the truth, then those are good odds, you think to yourself, nibbling gently at your thumbnail in thought. 80 percent chance of it working, at most - it's not the 100% guaranteed solution that you want, but you have to be realistic here. At the very least, even in the worst case scenario, the statistics are on your side still.

You still want to know something, though. About the exorcism. What happens during it? How does it actually work?

Annie scratches her head at you. "Wow. You're really...you're really crossin' all the Ts and dottin' all the Is here, huh?" She laughs here, an easy, pleasant sound. "How exorcism works...well, that's another bit ya got me on. It's like, I dunno, askin' a Culexus how she does the thing that makes you want to empty your guts all over the sidewalk, yeah? You'd get a whole lotta psychobabble, about magic resonance an' karmic imbalance and all that shit, but at the end of th' day you're nowhere near close to figurin' it out, but you're still got sick all over your shoes."

At your confused expression, the High Priestess shakes her head, chuckling again. "What I was tryin' ta say was, I got no idea to try and explain it. It's one of those things ya just know how to do. But what I can tell ya is what I always aim to do during an exorcism."

She holds up a finger. "First, I look for any spiritual disturbances around the person I'm treatin'. Maybe there's a spirit or a demon tryin' to play pattycakes with her, sorta thing. Any outside influence that's doin that. If I find that, I remove it or drive it away."

Another finger joins the other. "If I don't find any of those, I look inside the person, try and read what their soul's goin' through. Is it intact? Somethin' hidin' or festerin' inside it, like a parasite? Or maybe they're bein' possessed? Again, I drive whatever it is away and make sure it doesn't come again."

[1/2]
>>
>>41543541

A third finger. "Finally, if those don't work, then I break out the big guns. Which is basically askin' the Blessed Lady to intercede on the afflicted's behalf. 'Course I'm already askin' for her help with the first two, but this is appealin' to her mercy and kindness to grant my prayers."

...And how does she do all that?

She grins here. "How do we Magical Girls do what we do? Magic, of course." She thinks for a moment. "...Well, that an' I'll admit a few tricks I learned from my tenure with the Seventh. They know an awful lot about this sort of thing."

Right. Just another question, then.

During these exorcisms, did she ever see what was possessing or affecting the girls? What did the entities look like?

Annie blinks here, before scratching the back of her head again. "Well, let's see. Sometimes it's just really the odd ghost or two, but lately I've been seein' the Blessed Lady herself. Just...you know, a version of her that isn't really all that there, you know?" She taps her temple, before quickly crossing herself. "Like she had one really bad day while out bein' blessed and then it all just spiraled downwards from there, gettin' shittier and shittier with every loop. I'd be spooked if I didn't see that kind of shit every time I closed my eyes to sleep."

A moment later and she smiles. "Well? That enough for ya, Midori? Or ya need to interrogate me more?"

You blush here, before bowing in embarrassment. ...You just wanted to make sure you didn't leave anything out, that's all.

"S'alright, I understand." Alice waves a hand, the motion making her more-than-ample chest sway in a mesmerizing fashion. How do those things even get held up? "Ya gotta be sure with big decisions like this, I get it. Ain't nothin' wrong with makin' sure."

What do you do?

We know, in-character, that Pinky said she's fine with Chiaki being gone, and is only troubled that it was triggered by something not of her own design.

Exorcism sounds like the worst option, second only to leaving Chiaki in Regalia with no support.

The Cult doesn't realize that Pinky is batshit insane. They still think she's Godoka (and occasionally she is). Annie just said that she's been having nightmares where The Blessed Lady is getting worse and worse, so maybe that knowledge will filter down. But right now, not many people know.

You decide to not to commit to anything yet. While having her perform an exorcism on your sempai sounds like a safe way to go about things, the bit with involving the Blessed Lady at the end...that doesn't sit well with you at all. It's something you'd want to avoid as much as possible, especially with Chiaki being as vulnerable as she is right now.

So it's with a nervous smile that you tell Annie about your decision. She handles it better than you thought she would, the look of disappointment on her face lasting all of a second before it's replaced with a warm, pleasant smile.

"Like I just said, I understand. Ain't nothing wrong with makin' sure about bein' sure. No hard feelings, and besides, you're the one askin' for help, not me!" She laughs, before taking something from what looks like a Hello Kitty wallet from the inside of her habit. A snap of a magnetic lock, and she holds out something to you, something small, white and rectangular. ...A business card?

Blinking, you receive it with both hands, bowing your head in gratitude. You glance down at the card respectfully, reading out the professionally-printed words:

>ALICE
>High Priestess
>The Church of the Golden Land

Nothing else followed, except for her email and what looks like a smartphone number. You blink at her again, and she laughs once more in reply.

"Just in case ya change your mind," Annie grins. "Or if ya can't reach me for some reason, have Wendy do a runner or something. I'll get there soon as I can."

That's...well, you'll keep it in mind. You thank her for her time, and find yourself apologizing for wasting it.

[1/2]
>>
>>41544720

"Bah, think nothin' of it. I know how it goes, lookin' and searchin' for that one remedy for whatever ails someone important to you. Some of these remedies're bad, some of them got potential, others sound way too fuckin' dangerous to mess with. And exorcism, well...it ain't as simple as takin' a pill." She shrugs, still smiling. "Anyway, you're probably gonna want to tell Wendy, so go on and get. Forgive me if I don't get up, legs are kinda asleep here." She gestures to the head pillowing on her lap with a helpless smile on her face.

Haha. Yeah, you probably need to get going. You bid her goodbye and make to leave.

"Go in peace, Midori!" Annie calls after you, just as you close the door behind you. "The Blessed Lady loves all her vessels!"

Did she just...?

No. That's...she couldn't have known.

It's probably just one of her religion's generic greetings.

Yeah. Only that.

. . .

You meet Wendy right outside the Deli Heal Agency, after a brief encounter with Amber that left you blushing red and her giggling like a maniac. She's been smoking while waiting, apparently, proven with the spent cigarette butts littering the ground by her feet. By your quick count, she's already on her sixth cigarette.

"...How'd it go?" She asks immediately as soon as you approach. "Annie coming with us or what?"

You shake your head. No, she's not. You...didn't ask for her help.

"..." Wendy is silent here for a few moments, before she shakes her head. "...Was she weird about it, or what? I mean, when you told her about turning her down."

No, you didn't turn anyone down! You protest, careful not to raise your voice lest someone hear you. You just didn't commit to anything at the moment, that's all! ...And Annie was very nice about it and everything!

>>

"That's a first." Your sempai's ex notes with her usual brand of half-asleep derision, before nodding. "...Right. Now, I don't know everyone from the Ninth, but I think we're being shadowed. Don't look around, just keep talking and keep your eyes on me."

W-what? Shadowed? You? You swallow here, suddenly finding your throat dry, a cold sweat breaking out all over you. But you're--

"I said don't fucking look around, dammit." There is absolutely no urgency or panic in the Callidus' voice. "There's a chance it might not be anything, but let's not fuck around with it, alright? We need to relocate and reconvene to somewhere private, somewhere else that's NOT Headquarters OR here. We'll lose them on the way there.

...Shit. Shit! What are the chances that it's actually nothing?

"60%. I don't want to get fucked by taking the 40% for granted, though." Wendy looks at you, before spitting out another spent cigarette and lighting one. Her oversized golden lighter glinting in the sunlight.

"Where to?"

The point, which seems to keep flying over your head by the way, is that Midori and Wendy have DIFFERENT connections to Pinky. More importantly, NO ONE knew that Midori is a vessel, until Pinky said it a few threads ago.

Annie used the term vessel specifically, and the way she phrased it makes it pretty obvious that she was talking about Midori.

The question is, how the fuck does she know that Midori is a vessel? Did she sense it somehow? Did Pinky tell her? Will she do something with this information that no one has?

And most important of all.

Does she know what being a Vessel of the Blessed Lady actually means? We know what Chosen are, but know nothing IC or even OOC about Vessels.

Until now, she never named anyone as one of her Vessels, assuming there can be more than one Vessel at the same time.

Also, the main difference between Wendy and Midori is that Midori was resurrected by the actual Blessed Lady in one of her sane phases, while Wendy was rezzed by the full blown crazy Pinky.

That means something, we just don't know what yet.

You desperately wrack your brain for any other location you can both relocate to. You can't...you can't believe you're getting tailed! It's not like you're trying to betray the freaking Officio or anything, you just want to save your sempai, who is coincidentally the frigging WARMASTER! You're not supposed to be tailed like some sort of liability, for goodness' sakes!

Alright, alright, calm down. Just think rationally, you tell yourself as you focus your gaze on Wendy, forcing yourself from succumbing to the compulsion to look around - both for your supposed tail and a place to retreat to. Inspiration strikes you mere seconds, and you nod at its general direction over your partner's shoulder.

"...Charles' Bar?" Wendy murmurs around her cigarette. "...You do know it's just across the fucking street, right? Not even Karasawa can lose a tail with that kind of distance--"

You don't want to lose the tail, you cut Wendy off, speaking in the same low tones. What you want to do is to remove any chance of the both of you being considered as suspicious. If you are being shadowed, then all they'll see is two Magical Girls sharing a drink together and trying to cope with what's happening. Conversely, if the tail sees you going to strange, unfamiliar and horribly private places with another girl, well...

There's a long moment of silence between you and Wendy, before the American lets out a small grunt. For a moment it sounded as if Wendy was simply dismissing your idea with a simple disagreeing noise, when you feel her suddenly take your hand by the wrist and pull you along towards the very same bar you suggested. Across the temporarily-empty road and then back onto the sidewalk.

Her hand just as rough and calloused as your sempai's, but also softer.

Warmer.

[1/2]
>>
>>41541649
>will make sure that it's Homura that is restored
Not seeing the down side.
>>
>>41546490

A few moments pass, and it's here that you find yourself being ushered through the front door of Charles', the bar that your sempai frequented in her daily quest to kill her liver before it can regenerate.

It's still as empty as you remember it, but...cleaner, somehow. A bit more polished somehow. Maybe the scowling owner got the hint that his place needed to look less of a dive to attract customers? Probably, guessing from the new grand piano sitting in the corner.

It doeesn't seem to be working, granted, but it's the thought that counts.

"...Two Whiskeys, Charles. Kong. Hold the ice." Wendy says as the both of you make your way to the bar counter, easing onto the stools and resting your arms on the polished mahogany. "

The ever-present, ever-silent scowling Bar Owner grunts something at Wendy as he prepares your drinks. Wendy looks up at the afro-wielding gentlemen for a moment before shrugging, and grunted something in reply. Charles shakes his head again, before planting both drinks in front of you. Face still locked in a permanent, jaw-breaking grimace.

You shake your head here, and gingerly take your own drink. It's...it's a glass full of whisky. It's not just a shot or two, it's an entire frigging glass of the stuff! And you're expected to drink it all up?!

"Take your time and sip it slowly if you can't down it all in one go." Wendy murmurs, nursing her own drink. "...No sign yet of the tail. Probably lying low or something. Let's just stay like this for a few while until we're sure they're gone. I'll say so when we're clear."

Fine. Alright. ...Can you talk about things while you wait until then?

"...Don't see why not." The Callidus says after a moment. "Just try to avoid anything too specific, just in case."

Right. Okay. You can do that.

[2/3]
>>
>>41546520

You look down at your still achingly-full glass, and blink as you see what looks like a figure wearing a pink dress reflected in the polished surface. You blink again, and it's gone. Disappeared, as if it never were.

...

I cannot fathom the machinations of Decu in this case; we haven't talked about the particulars here at all, he's just running with it. Although consider: Midori and Wendy hooking up doesn't necessarily lead to a harem route. There's also an NTR route.

So that's a thing to worry about.

>>41547300
Annie usually takes the cake (figuratively and literally), but she knows when to rein it in. You don't make it more than a few years in without being kind of eccentric anyway. Or lasting for a few years turns you into an eccentric desperately fighting to cope. One of those.

Generally speaking all of the Callidus Rank Leaders/former Rank Leaders are familiar with one another, and working in a profession where your job is to be paranoid and lie turns out more eccentrics than most.

Poor, poor Enishi.

Or, more likely, Chiaki ForeverAlone.jpg

>>
>>41547471
It mostly comes down to the lines between lying for work and having a personal life. Once in a while a mysterious and fabulous sponsor arranges a sort of meetup for all of them to drink and, now and again, compete for reasons that absolutely aren't half for her entertainment and half for scouting purposes, and then it's a balance between showing off/making an impression and keeping your secrets for the sake of doing your job better.

One might do the same thing for Eversors, but they tend to have much bigger ranks to manage, and if you got twenty of the best in a room they'd probably just all headbutt each other unconscious anyway.
>>
>>41547435
>annie is a fat (former) callidus
Guess she's getting added to the harem.
>>
>>41547556

>>
>>41547565
Nah, those were unrelated statements. Annie...could probably have the potential if she applied herself, but would prefer to throw cars around and suplex people off the roofs of buildings, in the event that she has to fight instead of peacefully leading her flock.
>>
>>41547561
Wouldn't it work for Vindicare though? I mean, they're not as hotheaded as Eversors, so it should work.

Also, that damn Spymaster lol. She better not try to take Enishi dammit!
>>
>>41547605
Honestly it probably would, but I can only guess pedantic arguments about guns would eventually come around, and god help you if you're one of the Vindicares that relies on magic instead because you're just surrounded by /k/ with nobody to talk to except the one other magic Vindicare who just likes to burn shit and makes you kind of uncomfortable.
>>
>>41547635
That actually brings up another question. If most Vindicare rely on guns, what do they use their magic for?

Also, where does Mami fit in on this? Her guns aren't real guns, everything from their ammo, range, so on and so forth is decided by her magic.
>>
>>41547635
So Kyoko is also part Vindicare?
>>
I just want to say, I'm fairly certain Annie has the ability to help Chiaki, she'd just need to be told a TON of sensitive information or else risk going about things all wrong and potentially making things worse. And, of course, there's the very real possibility of her deciding to do it for Pinky anyway.

That said, I think there might also still be the possibility of getting Pinky's help. We might be able to convince her not to let someone else try to hijack her plan, even if that someone else is Homura.

There's something I haven't seen anyone else bring up and it makes me wonder.

Isn't Annie the one Wendy reports to and has pretty much said she's totally loyal to? How do we know she hasn't already told her basically everything so far?
>>
>>41547818
Wendy doesn't seem like the type to betray Chiaki outright.
>>
>>41547818
I've been under the impression that Wendy isn't so much loyal to Annie as she is supportive of her. Wendy has her reservations about the cult, or at the very least had them at one point, and definitely knows everyone involved is pretty crazy even by Magical Girl standards. Especially herself.

And of course, it's also likely that Wendy values Chiaki above all of that.
>>
>>41547797
>This is probably something to point at Decu's ask.fm, but to my understanding it's used more for utility and sharpening one's senses and reaction times.

Hm... someone should bug him about that, since that sounds a bit weak... though it might just make Vindicare the most effective magi in terms of grief seed usage. Still, I'd have figured that at the very least, they'd use it to beef up their weapons in various ways. Object enchantment was a thing in PMMM, but I dunno how that applies MGNQ.

I'm pretty sure he's been told it before. I've talked about it to him before. If he ever feels like having such techniques come up or putting it in the spotlight, it'd be in.
>>
>>41548050
Well, it's kind of tough with Chiaki. She didn't really need that kind of technique because of her time stops, which were just plain better as far as magic investments go. Now she has golden-shit to fall back on too.

We'd need to see more Vindicare in the spotlight, which is unlikely considering how they usually operate.

Still... Chiaki should really work on mastering telekinesis at some point, presuming she doesn't get to keep a bunch of devil powers that need mastering once Midori quest is done. The possibilities offered by efficient telekinesis are just plain ridiculous if one really thinks about them.
