Darkness surrounds you.

You hear a frantic pounding against metal somewhere nearby.

Please, suggest an action.

Crouch as quickly as I can, then begin moving as fast as I can, quietly in the opposite direction, stealthy.Use the noise as a direction, MOVE as fast as you can, with your hands trying to feel for anything to guide you.

Also, begin counting backwards from 10 to 1 to calm down as we walk.

It is likely that panic will set in.
I was in a situation like that once, but it was gunfire.

That door is a dead end retard, what are you gonna do there? And the other is the one with the monster breaking through.

There's at least a space suit at the airlock to grab and another door to put between you and the endless hunger of the beast.

If you need to, put on the space suit and space the monster. Like at the end of Alien.

Just have to tie yourselves to something.

Jack says that maybe you can, but he doesn't think he will be able to make the jump alone and that, no offense, you don't seem like you could do it either.

Those boxes are a long ways away.

He says it is safer if only one of you takes the lantern and goes, while the other says up here. Alone. In the dark. With a beast right on the other side of the door.

He explains that you can't just stay here, yet you can't both go down either. Whoever goes down must take the flashlight.

>What about if one of you dangled off the ledge and the other climbed down their body?
Jack sheeply tells you that he shoots guns from inside ships because he is not really great on the strangth part. Manly phisique is not really one of his attributes.

>Are the doors dangerous if they close suddenly?
They have sensors to check if a person comes inbetween them. You do not know if they are still active with the power down, though.

>Let him go down.
Before he goes he tells you to be careful. He says that the layout of the ship is different, that doors connect where they shouldn't. Whatever is causing this is messing with more than whatever that beast on the other side of the door is.

He asks you for something to defend himself with. Maybe the Fire Extinguisher to hit people with, or maybe the Butterknife.

You are not sure, but you don't think so. As far as you remember this stairwell went further down to the deep storage, where the bulk of the stuff was kept.
This part up here is just the temporary storage, used when you need to chack one of the crates. No one ever went to the Deep Storage, though. The machines did all the work and brought up the cargo you asked.

The big black thing in the middle is where you would pass your access card, if you had one, and allow use of this station.
Your remember there being dozens more, just like this one. Now...

Anyway. You can't fire anything, since you don't have your access card, but you can still boot up the system and check "if everything is running smoothly," as the captain said.

>Check the systems on your console
You get the thing up and running, but you barely turn it on and an error pops up. "Blockage on the Ammo Supply Line"
The ammo supply line, heading just down that hatch over there.

>Can you use any scanners, to see if there's anything unique in or around the ship?
By what you managed to see in the captains console, the space around you was clear. The only two things in this whole sector of space were the Happening Skyline and a small, unknown one, which you imagine is Ellie's.

>We came here directly from the previous room, correct? Not through other rooms or corridors or anything?
Yes.

>Down the hatches.
It is dark in here, the light from up above not being enough to reach this deep. There should have been lights in here. There should have been some walking space, so you wouldn't need to crawl in between the ammo to check what is causing the blockage.

There should have been.

But there isn't.

>Okay, so what's there instead?
There is a small tight space, barely enough for you to crawl through. This should have been a corridor, so that people could run and quickly reach the bowels of the gun to solve whatever problem there was.

>Has the room rearranged itself? Are there new walls where there should be corridors?
Yes. Everything is in smaller numbers or far more cramped than before.

>Add AMMO to INVENTORY to get it out of the way.
Son, this is a 100Kg Ferroslug. You don't carry one of these things. These things carry you, if you are dumb enough to be looking on the wrong side of a spacesip's weapon.

Okay, Jack, calm down and think through this.

Someone activated the gun. It may or may not have been with your work console and a stolen access card. Ask to the Captain in the next room if he saw anyone; the only way into this room is through that one, so if someone else entered your room, they'd have to go by him.

Also, check the sensors to see if Ellie's ship is okay.

>Seems to still be intact. The gun fired at nothing.
Unless this was an extreme long-distance shot at a target past the short-range scanners, it was probably meant to get rid of you when you cleared the obstruction. Is it possible that the weapon was programmed with a delay so that it would fire as soon as it was unblocked? If not, then could it have been accessed from another part of the ship?

Those wires look important, but I take it they're outside your area of expertise.

Any idea where the captain went? Can you tell if either of the other doors were opened, like from accumulated dust or anything? If we can't tell that, then we should backtrack, because we know that route's a dead end, before seeing if we can access the door to the left.

No. Guns can have no delay, just so shit like what just happenend couldn't happen.

>could it have been accessed from another part of the ship?
The only place that can fire weapons is the Weapon control room. Even from the Cockpit it is impossible.

>Any idea where the captain went?
There are no clues to where hewent. No broken doors, at least.

Enter Engineering.
>>
>>41580505
>Still asks for an access card you don't have.
So the one you do have doesn't work?

If the gun couldn't have been fired except from that time and place, then that leaves two possibilities. One is that the hardware has been altered somehow. The other is that whoever stole your access card ran into the room and fired the weapon while you were in the firing mechanism. If it's the latter, the most likely suspect is the Captain; if it were anyone else, he could have seen them, but he could have set up that trap for you.

If so, then it's it's likely that it might be a monster either impersonating or controlling the Captain, which would also explain why he's acting differently.

Before we go through the bloody door, we should talk to Ellie and tell her that her ship is still intact, and that there's a possible shapeshifter on the loose.
>>
>>41580579
>leaves two possibilities
No it doesn't.

It leaves a third far more likely possibility considering what you've seen in this nightmare ship. It's magic I ain't gotta explain shit.

He looks perfectly normal. That thing he is in front of seems to be a control panel, though you can't see if it is working or not.

>And that tube of red stuff.
You don't know, but the stuf seems to be moving quite fast.

>And are those doorways labeled?
The top one says "Chief Engineer's Office"
The one in the bottom says "Spare Parts"
The one to the right says "S-Engine Room"

>"Hey, who turned out the lights?"
He smiles, sadly.
"It makes it harder to see, doesn't it? Yes, I do imagine that that was her purpose. Don't think badly of her.She is... just trying to help you, though you can't quite see it yet."

>Gaze into the abyss.
You approach the gianthole in the floor andsee the web of blue growing ever more complex asit descends into darkness. You can feel a slight breeze coming from it.

He starts to talk.
"It seems foolish that after all you did, it was all for naught.
But something being foolish, something being useless, has never stopped anyone from trying it again and again."
"We always keep a glimmer of hope that maybe this time it will work."
He gently caresses the Control pad in front of him.

"Hide? Oh no. She is trying to make you lose. It wants us to come back, you see? Nothing can escape it. Not once it went in. But we did. We got out."
