You are Sallazar, a young wizard who has recently left the army. You have taken a teaching job at Egwen Girls Convent.

In addition the Headmaster of the school wants you to run the schools adventurers club, to give some of the schools more unusual girls something fun to do.

“Professor! Professor Sallazar!” A student comes running towards you as you head down to breakfast.

Its the start of a new week and you were just heading down to the mess hall, until this happened.

“Calm down” you say to the distraught-looking girl “what is it?” you think she might have been in one of your classes but the name escapes you. She is an ordinary-looking tiefling girl. Or she would be if she didn’t look so upset.

“It’s- she’s-” She starts babbling.

“Slow down” you say, taking her by the shoulders “take a deep breath and explain slowly.”

“It’s Lucy” she says “we were in the bathroom and part of the roof fell in, she’s trapped in there all alone in the dark, Professor, please help her!”

“Lead the way!” you order her. “And what’s your name?”

“Deana Sir” she says “please, hurry.”

She leads you to one of the girls bathrooms, some ways away from the main corridors. Hmm, why so far away? A suspicious part of your mind asks. But then that explains the falling roof another part of you thinks, some of the less inhabited areas are crumbling.
>>
You knock on the door with your staff “Lucy?” you ask. You hear nothing.

“Lucy its me!” yells Deana “I bought Professor Sallazar – he can help you.”

Very faintly you here from inside a voice gasp out “please, help....”

“I’m coming!” you yell, bursting into the room. Girls bathroom or not, if a student is in danger then you’re not going to hesitate! The door swings closed behind you, trapping you in darkness. In retrospect that was a hint that something was wrong.

In the darkness you can’t see anything. You prepare to cast a single light spell, only you think there’s someone standing in front of you and approaching, far too quickly! You can’t see but you can hear footsteps.

Years of paranoid reflexes take over and you cast a spell, trapping your would-be assailant in a globe of magical force energy.

You hear an indignant “hey!” and you cast another spell, one that should have lit up the place, instead nothing happens, huh, that can only mean...

You dispel the darkness spell shrouding the entire room. The girls bathroom looks in good order, no collapsed roof, no damage, nothing untoward.

Trapped in your globe of force energy is Lucinda. She doesn’t look hurt, she looks to be in violation of the schools dress code again: Her skirt is far too short and her blouse is untied, giving you a glimpse of a rather generous chest. She is pushing against the wall of the force globe, looking annoyed.

“Really Lucinda” you say, folding your arms “what’s all this about?”

“Uh” Lucinda pauses in the globe of force and gives you a charming smile, appearing so appealing that her innocence or guilt is irrelevant.

You heart-rate rises and your breathing quickens as you feel a strong stirring of attraction for this beautiful girl, then you close your eyes and take a moment to control yourself.

As you do Lucinda says “just a harmless prank sir, I was going to dump a bucket of water on you, silly but that’s dares for you right?”
>>
You look around, you can’t see any bucket, in the globe of force or otherwise. Outside you hear someone running away.

You cast a quick spell to protect yourself in the event of her trying to control your mind. If she tries then she'll think she succeeded...

“What was that spell?” Lucinda asks curiously from within the force globe.

“Just something to keep me awake” you say “now Lucinda” you continue in a stern tone “I think that's going to cost you five credits for trying to attack a teacher”

“But I wasn't!” she protests, her eyes going wide.

“So, what were you actually doing?” you ask, leaning against the bathroom wall as Lucinda continues to explore the surface of the nearly-invisible globe she’s trapped in, as if looking for a way out.

“A prank sir” she explains

“No bucket” you counter

“Umm, mistaken identity...?” she says

“So you were planning on dumping a non-existent bucket of water on another student?” you ask, trying not to smile

“I was sleepwalking” she tries another explanation

“Well” you say, looking her up and down “congratulations on being able to get dressed whilst sleeping.”

She grins “Well if that’s your price for letting me out of this thing...” And slowly reaches her hands towards her midsection and starts pulling the bottom of her shirt out of her waistband.

“I'm still waiting for an explanation” you say “a truthful one.”

Lucinda keeps pulling her shirt out of her waistband, slowly.

“And deliberately violating the dress code will cost you another five credits” you say nonchalantly.

Lucinda stuffs her shirt back into her waistband with a grumpy look “You're ruining the moment” she says sulkily.

“In this moment all I want is an explanation” you say, adding as she quickly opens her mouth “the truth, please.”

Lucinda rolls her eyes, the story comes out in one big verbal rush “ok fine, so the other day you told a class about your gay lover and unlike the other male teachers we've had you haven't been a perv so there was a betting pool on you being guy-only. Now Evvy tried to claim the winnings and she bet you're a virgin but the verdicts still out so Sarrissa bet you're gay and a virgin and no one could claim the pot so I had to prove it.”

“Prove it how?” you try and untangle whsat she just said “by grabbing me in the dark?”

“Yeah” says Lucinda, nodding “and reading your mi-er kissing you, yes kissing you and seeing how you reacted.”

“Reading my mind huh?” you say “Lucinda how many other peoples minds have you read?”

“None, I , misspoke, I didn't say anything about reading minds” says Lucinda, scrambling for any excuse “I meant reading your mi-aleness and...” She continues to dig herself in deeper, looking panicky.

Students reading each others mind through magic is a pretty serious offence, one that could lead to expulsion depending upon how the information was then used.

But still, something's not right...as a succubus soulborn that is a power she could have, but why attack you in the dark? In theory she should be able to read your mind at a distance.
>>
Now the prohibition on mind-reading doesn't extend to teachers reading students minds – if you have cause then its not against the rules. But what harm could she have done reading others secrets? A few test answers, juicy gossip – and she volunteered to get your secrets, so she's hardly kept this ability secret from the other girls.

Ok, writing it. In the meantime, feel free to discuss her punishment.

Long Story Short: She has done some expulsion-worthy stuff (technically, just) and Sallazar could march her to the Headmaster for punishment (since only the HM can actually expel students), proscribe some sort of punishment himself (loss of credits, kitchen/laundry duties etc), a token punishment plus Lucinda owing him somehow, or something else.
>>
>>41588312
>Punishment: put a hex on her that prevents her from reading people's minds
>>
>>41588377
This, and i suppose mandatory ethics class's maybe? Something full of mind numbing tedium with a gem or two shuffled in.
>>
>>41588312
All things considered expulsion isn't really a option, and I'm fairly sure the Headmaster wouldn't do it anyway, since the girls are hardly safe outside the school.

Give her a while kitchen duty, few months, and talk to the Headmaster about a geas to prevent her from being able to use any sort of mind-reading except when feeling legitematly threatened.
>>
>>41588312
Lets just take her to hm. He is a reasonable guy, he will decide what to do. If its that serious we need to report this anyway.
>>
>>41588377
I find this reasonable, may take some time to craft the spell. Assuming that a geas wouldn't suffice for that.
>>
>>41588377
No anon, no. That won't change anything. It will only debilitate her and make her crave mind reading more.
>>
>>41588459
>It will only debilitate her and make her crave mind reading more.
If its so bad she "needs" mind-reading, then it certainly is about time it gets locked down for her.
That ain't healthy.

In any case we will have to discuss with the hm anyway before putting permanent enchantments on the students.
>>
She's on the list, so just remember that no matter what she's done she is a daughteru-potentate in need of help.
>>
>>41588312
Take her to HM. Advocate for Geas to keep her from mind reading, an Ethics class, and Give her janitorial duty.
>>
>>41588486
locking someones skills and abilities away permanently would be a foolish idea. This is a school, teach her to use them responsibly instead. Locking them for a month or so before she is allowed it back would be fine.
>>
>>41588502
Man, I'm so tempted to bullshit somethig about recruiting her for the adventurer club to teach her responsible use of her abilities.
>>
>>41588549
Do it, it's better than a hex or a geas.
>>
>>41588538
>locking someones skills and abilities away permanently would be a foolish idea
No, when it comes to mind-reading its certainly something she shouldn't be using here. At all.
And its not like she accidently mindread people or doesn't know how to use them.
>>
>>41588549
It's not even bullshit, learning to control and use your natural powers responsibly is a significant part of the club.
>>
>>41588582
Well, its 'sort of' bullshit since it doesn't really relate that much to this, and she is certainly going to make a lot of trouble there.

I'm going to hold my verdict until we know exactly what she has actually done.
>>
>>41588567
Then lock them while on school grounds. Just not Permo life long.
>>
>>41588613
>Just not Permo life long.
Obviously it would be lifted when she leaves school, afterwards its her own responsibility.

Incidentally the only argument I can see against geas/hex would be that if we lock them down she can never really be taught to not use them when she can.
>>
>>41588643
To be fair, that's a pretty good argument.
>>
>>41588643
Your only argument for lock it up is that she shouldn't use it. It's not a very good one.
>>
>>41588643
Well i suppose we could link any geas to a permission by teachers while on school grounds kind of deal. But again, i would rather not geas her at all if it can be avoided.
>>
>>41588675
>Your only argument for lock it up is that she shouldn't use it. It's not a very good one.
That someone shouldn't do something is a pretty good argument for making that someone incapable of doing that.

>>41588659
It actually is, if keep thinking about it. Unless she did something actually bad, I'm probably gonna go for daughteru acquiration.
>>
>>41588312
Does this school have something like ethics classes?
>>
>>41588746
Not really.

the closest is lots of lines written over and over again in a style of *I must not do X*.

This is not that advanced a school syystem.
>>
>>41588827
>This is not that advanced a school syystem.
Dunno about advanced, but since the entire point of the school was educating particularly "problematic" soulborn and how to use their powers, something like that would have seemed farfetched to me.

I suppose Sallazar has to be the ethic class then.
>>
“Lucinda” you say calmly “you can tell me now what you wanted from my mind, and if you've ever used this ability before. Your answers may get you punished, but coming forwards and admitting your errors will count in your favour.”

Lucinda gives you a stubborn look and then mirrors you, folding her arms and leaning against the inside of the force globes wall.

“I didn't do nothing” she says in a tough-girl voice you'd expect to hear from Kittrane.

“Or we can go to the Headmaster and find out anyway” you say evenly

The two of you lock gazes for a long moment. Lucinda looks away first.

“I found out a few girls secrets” she says “and y'know, made trouble for them.”

“What sort of secrets?” you ask.

She shrugs “who likes who, who is scared of who, who is bed-er, who is kissing who, just y'know, personal stuff.”

“And how much trouble did you make?” you ask.

Lucinda grins “I'm not the only one who can” she says “most of the other succubus soulborn can, and a few of the daughters of succubus soulborn, I'm just better. They do that stuff to the other girls – I do it to them and they never figure it out because they think their own minds can't be read. But a touch, or a small kiss and my powers work much better on someone.”

Huh, well it sounds like she picked deserving targets at least, but still, a group of mind-reading students is a fairly serious problem, because...

“Have you ever used it in exams?” you ask.

“No! Of course not!” Lucinda responds too quickly “why ever would you think that sir?” But her eyes are darting and she's tense.

“Lucinda” you say “all it takes is one trip to the Headmasters and you could be out, so, did you cheat on any exams?”

As slapdash as the school credit system can be sometimes, the exams are taken seriously and cheating of any kind punished harshly. You don't think the Headmaster would expel the students casually, but she doesn't know that.
>>
“It was only the one time!” she protests “It was a History test and I meant to study but this really cute girl caught my eye and um, we spent all evening uh...not studying. Professor I've never done it any other time!”

You think she's telling the truth, but you're not completely sure. Cheating in exams is expulsion-worthy. You don't have the power to – only the Headmaster or Acting Headmaster does. You doubt Sir Sarum would kick her out just for that, but he could, in theory.

“So what did you want from my mind?” you ask.

Lucinda answers easily, as if its a minor thing “Oh, you know” she says “the time you spent with that Telam guy.”

“Tellaric” you correct her without thinking “His name was Tellaric”

“Oh so you were a couple” she says impishly “Knew it.”

You're quiet but your mind is racing. If she knew, if she had found out! Those are not your secrets and you agreed to keep them! This is bad, this could have been bad, you correct yourself. She didn't actually see what Tellaric was after, what the pr- you squash that line of thought.

To buy yourself time you ask “what other male teachers?”

Lucinda grins “Oh we get a few each year” she says “sooner or later they make a pass at one of the girls...particularly the succubus soulborn and then the next day they're gone...the skeletons sometimes clear out their rooms.”

Oh lovely...

“And of these teachers” you say “how many of them were ah, enticed, into making a pass at the girls?”

Lucinda shrugs “dunno” she says.

You have everything you need to know, you think. Lucinda's main mind-reading activities are fairly benign – playing games against other mind-readers. Really they are the bigger concern right now.

On the other hand she has cheated on a test and could face severe punishment. And you really cannot afford to have some of your secrets revealed. Dwarven military secrets aside, there are some things you really must keep secret.
>>
You could march her to the Headmaster and have him hand down a harsh punishment, but she might (possibly) get expelled.

You could proscribe some sort of harsh punishment yourself: loss of credits, lines about mind-reading; laundry or lavatory-cleaning. This should scare her into not reading your mind again, or any others.

You could use magic to curtail her mind-reading, as an abjurer you can alter some of your spells enough to do that. [Meta: an example would be a version of Mind-Blank that prevents mind-affecting spells from being cast by the target. Geas could also work]

You could also give her some token punishment on the understanding that she owes you big. You could have her spy on the other succubus soulborn, join the adventurers club or make her do your laundry, or some other useful task.

You could also do something else.

What do you do?

>Go to Headmaster, let him decide

“Another five credits off” you say “for what you've done.”

Lucinda gives you a sceptical look “that seems a little light” she says, then adds quickly “not that I'm complaining, uh, learned my lesson yes siree only ethical uses of my powers from now on and-”

“And” you say “You'll also be spending a lot of time with me in-”

“Bed?” she asks with a grin.

“The adventurers club” you say.

“Aww no!” she protests “That bunch of meatheads and nerds, no, why?”

“You can join” you say “or spend a month cleaning ALL of the equipment after every session.” You're not really going her a choice, just showing her the stick.

“Ok fine” she says, pulling a face “anything else?”

“And you're going to help me with this group that's going around reading everyone's minds” you say.

Lucinda grins “And I thought you were boring” She raises her hand as if to offer it to shake, only the force globe still entraps her “say partner could you let me out of your cage?” she flutters her eyelashes at you and your heartbeat speeds up again.

You cancel the spell “start coming up with names and lists of misdeeds” you say “because I could still have you-”

“Whipped?” she grins, linking her arm through yours as you both go to breakfast.

“Punished, severely” you say as your cheeks start to heat up “stop that!”

“Stop what?” asks Lucinda, hugging your arm to her so that her breasts rub up against you as you walk.

“You know exactly what” you say, as you try to suppress your blush and fail. “Stop doing...that. You should use your intelligence to deal with people, not anything else”

“Oh but Sir” she draws out the word “I hate thinking” She rubs up against you some more “its hard.”

Yes it is...

At breakfast you see all of Team Fell-Storm, no, the entire club, sat together. Huh, that's...good.

Unfortunately you only have enough time to grab a quick bite before they're off to classes, but Kittrane does make a point to walk past you and say “We've got a strategy, can you get us out of a class this afternoon?”

Well now, this is getting interesting. After morning lessons you tell the other teachers that the girls in your club, including your newest recruit, will be missing their first afternoon lesson.

You all grab lunch and head over to the club building for an extended planning session.

It seems Kittrane really does have a plan, and whilst its not perfect...you've heard worse. By the Hells, you've even had to carry out stupider plans than this.

“So you're splitting the party?” Anlanesa asks Kittrane. You've all pulled some tables together to make one big one and are sat around talking, your lunches finished.

“Only if needed” says Kittrane “The plan is that we get in, don't get seen, get the princess and get out.”

“You didn't say we'd be rescuing a princess” says Lucinda, suddenly paying attention “do you do this stuff every weekend? Is the Princess hot?”

Kittrane glares at her “we've already picked the team Slutcinda” she growls

“Kittrane” you admonish her, she doesn't seem to notice.

Lucinda doesn't seem affected by Kittranes insult “Always room for one more darling” She says “no matter how small the bed” Noting your look of disapproval she adds “it gets cold in winter Sir, you'll soon be wanting someone to keep you warm too.”

“Anyway” says Cleya, “back to the plan – Kittrane.”

Kittrane gives her rival for leadership a quick nod “ok, so yeah, that's the ideal, but we all know that won't happen. Now the reason Raid Rush wants a match is to fight us” she nods at Phoebe and Evrumine “So they'll be heading for us rather than the Princess, if they find us, then Phoebe and I hold them off, whilst Evrumine and Nevyn get the princess to safety.”

“Wait, wait” says Phaysis “what if they don't? What if they get to the Princess first?”

“Then the plan is the same” says Kittrane “Two fight – the ones that Raid Rush wants to fight – and two grab the Princess and run.”
>>
“Why not just smash them all then run?” asks Safire hesitantly, shrinking when the others turn to her.

“Because” Cleya explains “its in a giant lair – any loud noises will bring them down on you. Kittranes right, this is a stealth mission rather than combat.”

“Ok” says Janrael “so team Evil Wannabe's-”

“Team Fell Storm, duh!” Nevyn corrects her.

“Whatever” says Janrael “so Nevyn and Evrumine chuck Her Royal Prissyness over their shoulders and run, and Syphoebeus and the Kitten” Kittrane growls at that “just bust heads?”

“Worked last time” points out Evrumine.

“Yeah but this time they'll be ready” says Kittrane “if I was them I'd be working on getting stronger, fighting smarter and getting whatever strength and toughness-boosting items I could.” She pauses, then says “which is why Syphoebeus and I will be concentrating on magical abilities this week – anything that can slow then down, distract them or knock them out.”

“I still think just hammering them will work” says Evrumine.

“No Kittrane is right” says Cleya “use magic.”

“Why not pure stealth?”asks Chame “disregard fights, grab princess, acquire victory.”

The girls all look at one another, finally Calluna says “Sir, what do you think?”

What should the battle plan (and thus training plan) be?

>Support Kittrane (Stealth/Magic)

>>

They don't need a second team, but we should definitly send all the new ones through a dungeon soon, yeah thefocus has been too much on Fel Storm.
>>
>>41590722
Seconded, it should be a priority once this fight is over.
>>
Looks like we got a plan

Coming in next update: Which girls can qualify as minions?

And: Will the club start a new team?

Note the team vote is a discussion, not a route-lock
>>
>>41590757
I see no reason why we should wait until after this fight. We need to set up the dungeon in advance anyway, so we can already tell the Daves to build one ASAP. There is no reason the other girls should do nothing while Fel Storm prepares.
>>
>>41590807
>And: Will the club start a new team?
Do they 'need' to form a team before even all members have been in a dungeon? Seems pretty premature to me. We should first make sure everyone has dungeon experience, run the girls through dungeons in different constellations so they can see who gets along with who.
>>
>>41590807
>And: Will the club start a new team?
Can't we rather get a vote on who goes into the next trainings dungeon?
Seems more important to me.
>>

>Do they 'need' to form a team before even all members have been in a dungeon? Seems pretty premature to me. We should first make sure everyone has dungeon experience, run the girls through dungeons in different constellations so they can see who gets along with who.

This. We should gather the remaining girls together, let them talk amongst themselves, then try out different combinations in practice runs until they get comfortable.

>>41590807
>Which girls can qualify as minions?

Chame, Calluna, Lucinda
>>
>>41590807
Lucinda- succuslut
Caluna- summoned abberant
Phaysis - Mount if we can geter to agree
Chame- Surprise bomb/stealth minion

>
>>
>>41590807

Wait, we get minions on a princess rescue? I don't think that makes sense.
>>
>>41590880
>Mount if we can geter to agree
Yeah, nah.

I don't think a mimic counts as evil minion under the evil team rules.
So it would be Calluna(as vampire again) and Lucinda as fiend.
>>
>>41590914
I think the whole "team mates can be minions" thing doesn't make any sense from a competitive balance point of view.
I'm mostly waiting for someone in charge of these things to realise that and bar it, because its kinda broken.
>>
>>41590914
You get minions because you have an evil team, it doesn't have to make sense.

Hmm, seems players are more in favour of dungeon practises before forming new teams, ok.
>>
>>41590944

It makes sense if you're one team of four defending a castle against several opposing parties.

But if you're playing what's essentially one-flag CTF, I don't see how minions factor in. Just means we get extra people on our team while they don't?

Somebody's going to cry foul.
>>
>>41590914
>Wait, we get minions on a princess rescue?
It does make sense we have our minions, as evil party and all, it does not make sense that those can be fellow adventurers, but whatever, it makes things easier for us.
>>
>>41590985
>Just means we get extra people on our team while they don't?
On the other hand they get advantages for their team too.
And if we really would just have access to summoned/bound minions and undeads like other evil teams would have, it would be balanced.
>>
>>41591027
>On the other hand they get advantages for their team too.

Such as?

I mean, what's stopping us from taking the entire convent, declaring them minions, and then facing off against Raid Rush 100 vs. 4?

I'm not trying to bitch for the sake of bitching here, this just seems so horrifically unbalanced and abusable.
>>
>>41591099
We can only take a certain number of minions. Read the links in the OP.
>>
>>41591099
>I mean, what's stopping us from taking the entire convent, declaring them minions
The rules. All themed Teams have specific advanatges and restrictions. They have a theme, which gives them some advantages (we don't know which) and our evil themed party has certain advantages and restrictions that are described in the Adventurer club paste.

>iii) Minions: Each team member can have one of the following:
One Strong Minion (Large elemental, Vampire, moderately powerful demon or equivalent);
Two Medium-strength Minions (Medium elemental, Ghost or Ghast, minor demon or equivalent);
Five Weak Minions (Small elemental, zombie or skeleton or equivalent).
>>
>>41591128

Alright, let's take Sallazar. Full power, no holds barred.
>>
>>41591144
>Alright, let's take Sallazar. Full power, no holds barred.
Sallazar is sadly not one of the things that are eligible as minion.
>>
>>41591140
Notably enough, we are mostly cheating around this restriction
>The team member must demonstrate the ability to control these themselves, though items that enable this are permitted.

Because none of our team can actually do that with their fellow team mates.
>>
“Kittranes plan makes sense” you say “and she's the leader, we'll go with her plan” Kittrane grins widely then hides it, suddenly looking casual.

“Thanks Professor” she says roughly “so uh, yeah. Stealth training for Evvy and Nevyn, magic for me and Phoebe.”

“And everyone else?” asks Calluna “what are we training in?”

“Uh, whatever you like” says Kittrane, looking baffled “does it matter?”

“Well isn't Calluna going to be a minion again?” Cleya asks “Sir, we can be minions right?”

“Yes” you draw out the word “almost any of you might possibly be an evil minion, except Janrael I think, maybe Safire and Anlanesa too.”

“Who's the best minion” Calluna coos to her pet...fish “who's the best minion ever?”

“I volunteer to be Nevyn and Evrumines minion” says Lucinda, waving her hand in the air.

“You just want to make a pass at the princess” says Chame, rolling her eyes.

“Yes, and?” Lucinda gives her a challenging look “you jealous?”

Chame gives her a condescending look “I'm so glad I never took you up on your off-”

“Getting back to the matter” says Janrael “Um, I propose we have a Good team too.”

“Second” says Anlanesa.

“Too early” says Cleya “I think everyone needs to practise together more.”

“Cleya is right” says Phaysis “much as I'd like to, we all need more practise, Sir can the Daves let us practise after the match?”

“I'm sure it can be arranged” you say “so I guess we're tabling the team idea?”

“I guess” Janrael doesn't look too happy.

“So uh yeah” says Kittrane “minions....”

Chame, Phaysis, Lucinda and Calluna all raise their hands.

“Well” says Nevyn “guess that decides that.”

“On a stealth mission?” says Cleya “is that really a good idea?”

Kittrane chews on a finger-claw, as if she hasn't thought about this.

“Well um, whoever it is” she says “we'll be doing double-training this week, because we need to be ready.”

The girls all groan, hands go down. Seems they all want to play, but not train hard.

Loyalty through friendship and fun is arguably a more effective method of control than arcane binding.

It really depends on what you count as control, and that vagueness can be exploited - for now.
>>
>>41591455
I can't recall any.
>>
>>41591507
>Loyalty through friendship and fun is arguably a more effective method of control than arcane binding.
Nope, because one relies on them wanting to obey, which isn't control, while the other doesn't, which is control.
Loyalty=/=Control. They are seperate things.

And considering the obvious intent behind these rules, normally summoned demons/undead/elemental, they obviously mean the "can make them obey against their will" sort of control.
If Calluna flips her shit, then no amount of friendship speech is going to reign her in.

Sure, and with the girls who aren't part of any core you can easily make themed teams.
Elemental:
Analanesia
Safire
Phoebe
Phaysis

Transformation:
Anlanesa
Phoebe
Calluna
Phaysis

etc.

I see no reason to rush the themed team building anyhow. They don't need one to compete anyway.

except how she could have joined team evil but had major moral compunctions about it and actually fought against them all after? Besides Cleya is core Fell Storm.

I think your mislike of a "boring" option is making you insist you know better and telling the girls their opinions don't count.

Quick reminder Janrael joined for fun, and this is supposed to be fun for the girls as much as it is training them. If they want a good team let them.

You were saying Analesa wanted to be a team captain in a team with Cleya.

I pointed out she could have but chose not to, ergo it is not her only consideration.

I also pointed out given the massive difference in core teams proposed it's not even a major factor. Since they'd rarely team together on the field with the proposed set up and core team differences.

“Kittrane is the leader” you say “and we're following her plan, so she gets to pick her team, and that includes minions.” Privately you wonder how the judges would react to having the other girls play minions, they might be allowed, or not.

“Ok, uh, then Phaysis and Chame” says Kittrane “They'll both be with Evvy and Nevyn. Chame is good at sneaking and can pretend to be the Princess to throw off the other team, and Phaysis is the fastest we've got so she can be the way to get the princess out of the tower fastest.”

“Wait so I'm getting kidnapped by the team of hunky barbarian-guys?” says Chame with a grin “Kittrane I love your plans.”

“How am I going to-” Phaysis starts “Oh no, so not, not going to.”

“The Princess can ride you” says Kittrane, glaring at Phaysis “it's the best way to-”

“No!” snaps Phaysis “No way, no how, not happening.”

There is some spirited discussion, finally...

“If anyone says anything about me wearing a saddle they'll be tasting hoof for a week” Phaysis threatens the rest of the team.

“Wouldn't dream of it” says Anlanesa.

“Yeah we know that would stirrup trouble” says Lucinda.

Phaysis gives her a dark look and her hair starts to smoulder.

“So it's decided” you say, before they can start fighting “double training for all those involved.”

“Ugh do we have to?” complains Chame.

“Yes” says Kittrane “if there's no hard work they're no pay-off.”

“That's what she sa-” Lucinda and Chame both murmur at the same time, then break off, refusing to look at one another.

“But...double training?” asks Nevyn.

“Yes” you say firmly.

Safire raises her hand “um sir?” she says “if we're going to be practising after the main match, um, what are we doing?”

Good question. You'll have enough time for the girls to do lots of short dungeon runs after the main match. You could focus their practise on a particular area or let them play around and have fun, seeing what works for them.

I don't particularly want any odd dungeon ideas for the girls on their first dungeon run, even thought it's going to be things like dungeons that don't link up in a way that makes space in a 3d map or dungeons replicating flat-out strange planes of existence rather than magical realm nonsense.

Ok, tutoring and making items are clear firsts and seconds, last is a little less clear, but going with looking for mind-readers.

As before Sallazar will pick appropriate items for the girls, unless players request specific stuff.

Vote on who to tutor and items coming in a moment.
>>
Tutoring some of the girls is your highest priority, although any could benefit from your help, you will need to limit yourself to only a few, to be able to help them effectively.

Who will you be tutoring? (Safire and Janrael are automatic)

>Anlanesa
>Calluna
>Chame
>Cleya
>Evrumine
>Kittrane
>Lucinda
>Nevyn
>Phaysis
>Syphoebeus

Please pick 3

Its a mountain.

Isn't a lair usually inside the mountain though?

And a dungeon, for that matter.

If the Daves just slap some illusory giants and a trollop tied to a stick down in the middle of a mountain range, I'm going to be mad.
>>
>>41593101
>Isn't a lair usually inside the mountain though?
You need to reach the lair first, and since its the lair of giants, levitation will still be useful.

This week you're going to focus your time and efforts on Cleya, Kittrane and Syphoebeus. You'll also be creating a useful array of items for them.

After afternoon lessons and dinner you head back to your lodgings to lock your books away before going to talk to the Headmaster about these mind-reader girls. He can't be ignorant of them and although you are set on tracking them down it would be wise to see what he is doing first.

With your books locked away you turn to go and visit the Headmaster, only to see that your crystal ball is blinking, ah, must be the Daves, maybe the location has changed?

You bring up the message.

Master Sallazar

I hope this message finds you well. A mutual acquaintance of ours, the scholars apprentice, will be in Becklingill by this weeks end. The search for the past consumes such folk. I would take it as a great favour if you would be so kind as to look out for our friend.

-Sir Holtfirth

No, no those arrogant, smug- You've not seen Sir Holtfirth or Tellaric in years and by this message Tellaric is heading into danger again for that damn fools quest! And they have the nerve to ask you to be on hand to save his stupid ass? You have your girls to look after!

You'll show them both...by being really indignant when you step in to help, as you know you will, dammit...

Shaking your head at your own weakness you go to see the Headmaster.

Thank you for playing, next thread is in about 16 hours.

After this contest there needs to be some balancing out in XP distribution for all the girls. Some have nearly none invested yet, while Nevyn already got nearly twice as much
as the next girl.

>>41593593
OOC I could see it being both interesting and amusing, but it entirely depends on how you have planned her character. She did show a altruistic/"punish the wicked" streak with her mind-reading, so I could see it.
IC I don't think Sallazar would consider it, at this point.
>>
>>41593593

OOC it kinda makes sense, with her attitude and would do good to give her a firm moral grounding in her tendencies. Besides just think of what her later life would be by being a bard/paladin hybrid.

IC from what I've seen Sallazar does not have a strong positive view of gods and divine magic. I could be wrong. So he may not point that out to her.
>>
>>41593593
>Do players really want to Lucinda to be a Paladin?
She'd be certainly a interesting sort of paladin. But 'want' is too strong a word.
If she shows interest in it or thinks ever develop into that direction I imagine it could be fun.
>>
>>41593634
Except Calluna, of course. She'd just enjoy the show and applaud when it was done.

They've gotten imbalanced, yeah. I couldn't resist getting Nevyn into kinda-bullshit territory and Fel Storm have gotten more focus due to being the ones in situations with potential risks, albeit still exceptionally low ones. I'll be trying to balance it out from this point and then hopefully keep it there.
>>
>>41593916
I wonder if Cleya understands Callunas quirks a bit better than others, being a part-abberation herself.

Fel Storm getting all that attention made sense sofar, also because they fought more, just wanted to draw attention to it, especially because of Nevyn.

Though why was Phaysis own XP not spend yet, are you saving it for Paladin/Priest?

You realise she wouldn't be the first sucubutt paladin candidate for Pallys quests?
>>
>>41593973
Maybe, it would be nice for Calluna to have a friend that's another girl her age.

What I wanted to do was get a single rank in one of the Nightmare powers and then throw the rest into Paladin's prereqs or something in Ranger, but something fairly distracting occupied most of my week so I haven't quite finished the powers. Mostly written still, just need to error check them, do some minor rewrites and maybe some balance tweaks.

More so than a friend, but someone who 'gets' her at least a little.

So Phaysis is slotted down for Paladin instead of priest? Who do we want as priest then? Though we don't necessarily 'nee' one due to Janrael being able to learn priest spells on her own, but having at least one full priest would be nice.

It's the fact on a macro or micro level a succubus "must" have some sort of special traits that makes them super unique and important.

>>41594386
>>41594431
Every character eventually suffers from it, but Succubi off the bat MUST be special.
>>
>>41594240
1. It's not even a vote.

2. Nobody is going to make her become a paladin. The most extreme opinions expressed in the regards of wanting it were "it might be interesting" or "for the comedy" (which probably shouldn't be taken too seriously), unless I missed something.

3. Their arguments are at least *trying* to be based on the character, most of the serious ones anyway, while yours seems to boil down to a distaste for anything that strays from your belief of what she should be.

4. Succubi are far closer to humans due to their nature and far more likely to be redeemed successfully in this Oversetting, albeit still fairly rare until the gods start getting involved (e.g. Sireyi having ~1.5 million redeemed Succubi).

5. She isn't even a succubus.
>>
>>41594457

Might be worth looking into, assuming Pally wants to make this sort of thing feasible.

Instead of calling on her god/goddess to heal people, she could call on her earthbound dirt-god to cover her team in nigh-impregnable gems, bolstering defense and causing physical attacks to often fail.

>>41594474
>Every character eventually suffers from it, but Succubi off the bat MUST be special.

If every character suffers from it then how the fuck are succubi special? You're arguing against your own point with that statement.
>>
>>41594474
>I'm supposed to be a seducer with loos-ish morals
>All succubi are the same and are not allowed to posses individuality

Sooo, what you're saying is that original characters that aren't 100% cookie cutters from the mold are bad?

I mean, she actually even IS a seducer with loose morals. I have no idea where you get the idea from she all of a sudden would stop being that.
Your silly preconceptions of what succubi and apaldins must always be like seems like the bigger problem to me.

You are completly mistaken if you think the problem with Drizz't syndrome is playing good aligned drow.
Good aligned drow are fine. I wouldn't play one, but they are fine.
The problem is a lot of people playing Good aligned drow ranger dual-wiedling scimitars.
Meaning, the same damn character.

Lucy will already get a ton of exp because Pally loves power bloat, so the surpassed is there and the whole paladin thing seals the deal.

IIRC, die levels functions as such.

1d3 -> 1d4 -> 1d6 -> 1d8 -> 1d10 -> 2d6 -> 2d8 -> 2d10 -> 3d6 -> Etc, etc.

Any kind of enhancement to Unarmed damage will increase natural or pre-enhanced unarmed attacks by the same level of die as it would with a base unarmed attack.

So yes, it would stack.

Of course, I might be misremembering.
>>
>>41594878
The problem is that the monk levels don't explicitly raise it, they just change it into the new one.
>your unarmed attacks deal 1d4 points of damage
etc.
>>
>>41594906
I'm fairly certain I asked about that at some point and Pally said it functions as a raised die level for the purposes of naturally stronger unarmed attacks/natural weapons.
>>
>>41594943
Interesting, so it would be, 2d10 for Safire at Rank 5, if I see it right. Thats quite the punch.
>>
>>41594993
I think it would be 3d6 since her base is 1d8.

1d8 (0), 1d10 (1), 2d6 (2), 2d8 (3), 2d10 (4), 3d6 (5).
>>
>>41595227
Yeah, you're right, I just added two, but I forgot th increase from base. Though its kinda weird how max dmg actually decreases from 20 to 18.
>>
>>41595316
It is, but there's not really any way to make a die level formula that doesn't break down like that eventually. Or I'm being dumb and there is and I got the die levels wrong.

Eh, whatever, I'll be corrected if I did. The most important piece is that the monk skill works on die levels instead of static values, making it useful for Safire, Nevyn and any other girl with stronger than normal unarmed attacks.

Lucinda the (maybe?) Paladin

As expected this idea is somewhat controversial. I'm personally not strongly in favor or against the idea.

Mechanically I expected Lucinda to be a Bard, but I'm willing to let players direct the girls growth if they so choose.

So will Lucinda become a paladin? We'll have to see where she wants to go and where the quest takes her.

Maybe she never really feels a strong connection to the gods, and maybe she feels the call, time will tell.

I do like the idea of Safire: Geopriestess though.

Writing OP but no quest until much later as I will need to go to work.
>>
>>41598804
>So will Lucinda become a paladin? We'll have to see where she wants to go and where the quest takes her.

I saw it as a think where she needs some moral guidance and that is one of the things that checks the boxes. And a bard/paladin hybrid eventually too. Granted way too xp intensive for this.

But yea, she does not really fit most of the personality for it.

Maybe Bard (secret seeker) type of character instead?
