"I don't care, Lass. I'm almost home, there's booze there, all is right with the world.

The small hero group you've amassed keep inspecting the caravan. Yuuki was worried about what may have had you spooked, and wasn't taking 'don't worry about it' for an answer.
You are Jack Albator, weary adventurer, but handsome warrior. Oh, you just want to go home.

You're returning from a foriegn land after saving much of the population of Gallete. You doubt they'll as much as thank you for it, but you have long since stopped expecting thanks for your work. Instead, you found that the cause of the kidnappings that were going around.
Very few things seemed to scare you in life, especially people. You've had drinks with men who were rumored to kill with their mean looks. So finding someone who could intimidate YOU in even the slightest way is both a personal defeat as well as a blow to the balance of the world.

Those are thoughts for another time, right now you just want to call it a day. You've just exited the pathway to the underworld, and are on your way back to Biscotti now.
In the meantime, Yuuki and Cody have caught on that something has gotten under your skin during your inspection of the caravan. You know them too well to understand that they're not going to give up asking questions just because you told them to.

"Was it a dragon?" Yuuki hops from a carriage she was riding atop to another as she follows you.
"Maybe a Mountain Lion. Those things used to keep my old man up at night." Cody strides next to you as he watches the perimeter.

hi announcer

So I've been reading previous threads... and fuck that previous sorta-hero.
"there are more important things than citizens"?
The fuck is with him wanting to restore his own kingdom by filling it with people then.

Would we be strong enough to carry some parts of the caravan to speed this up?

Well yeah.
Can you blame him?
This place sucks.
>>
So do we count this mission as a success, or...?
I mean we're bringing everyone back, aren't we?
But now we've found out the assholes have got their own hero, who's apparently a super-badass.
On the plus side they seem to only have one, which means he can only kick our ass in one single place at a time while we could just fight at multiple places at once.

...Man we're going to need some group training for all heroes.
>>
>>41673480
Alright so I believe we can add Old Kingdom on the list of places that suck.

The first place that sucked being Catland
>>
>>41673879
Sadly not many places can be as awesome as our own kingdom.

..Speaking of our kingdom, Announcer, while we're talking to everyone, can we pet Tuile's tail?
>>
>>41673909
Only if we rub Madeliene's tail with the other. He'll need both to comfort him.
>>
>>41673756
it is a success, but we're in for a training montage if we don't want that guy to fuck everything up

>>
>>41674048
It's comes as a consequence of Madeline being around a lot more and is far more aggressive in her interest in pirate booty.
>>
"Alright, I'll tell you two EXACTLY what is on my mind. We're about three hours from the castle, and I was gonna wait until then. But aye think ye deserve to know right now."
"Really?"
"Wait, you're serious?"

"Aye, gather all the heroes up, meet me up front in Tuile's cart. A captain's always straight with this crew, after all."

"..Jack?"
"Is.. everything okay?"

"Yar! Of course it is, ye think I would be acting this calm if everythin' wasn't?"

They look at each other.
"We're not gonna die, are we?"
"Cody, please. A little confidence." Yuuki nudges him.

"That's right! A little confidence is what we need! No grumblin', no naysayin', just a little thing the captain wants to discuss with his crew, nothin' more! See ye in a few."

They seem almost too concerned about your reaction.

--

"What is this about?"
"I don't know, but it scares me."

"I heard Madeleine saying 'all the time' over and over again, is it that?"
"..Louise, I'll tell you when you're older."

"What? Fighting all the time? I can do that."
"Dorje, I'll tell you when you're older."

You step onto the wagon and sit down near the edge, it seems the heroes have already started gossiping amongst themselves about what this could be about.
Their eyes are trained on you, each one waiting eagerly to hear your latest news.

>"Damn it ye guys, relax, it's not bad-"
>"Err, not THAT bad of news"
>Just give it to them straight, two guys, one claims to be another hero, the other is just a psycho.

"Alright, before we get started, let's get one thing straight. How old is everyone here?"

They all blink at that question. There's some confused stares being passed around the room.

You don't waste any time, and point toward Yuuki, first.

"Um! Sixteen!" Yuuki sits at attention
"Twenty-five" Cody arches his eyebrows
"Eleven!" Louise looks proud somehow.
"Thirteen." Dorje shares a confused glare with Cody
"Aye'm Twenty-one. And I think someone told me the other hero is somethin' like twelve."

"So.. Why did you want to know that?"

"Did ye know people 'ere can live like, hundreds of years?"

All of them stare at you with wide eyes. Cody makes a noise halfway between a gasp and a hiccup.
"I don't think that's true." Dorje frowns.
"No, it's true! Tuile herself told me."

"She may just be messin' with you, Jack." Cody coughs.

"Listen, 'ere is yer homework. When ye see yer summoner again, ask how old they are. But do it gently, girls don't like bein' asked that."

"Was that the only reason you called us here?"

"No! No. The other reason is that I found out why people were bein' kidnapped."

"Good, we can bring those responsible to justice then."
"..There was a reason?"
"I agree with Yuuki, I thought they were just assholes."

"Aye thought that as well, but the real reason is more sinister. There is another hero out there."
"Another- WHAT?"
"Aye! Another hero! He claims he's been 'ere for thousands of years, but Aye think he's just a psychopath."
"..You sure it was Gilles again?"

"Gilles was there, but that was not who I saw. This was another man, and he was terrifying, too."

Everyone continues to stare at you, jaws limp and shock on their faces. Louise buries her face into Yuuki's dress.

>"-But it's no reason to worry crew. There's one of him and six of us."

You walk over and sit down next to Louise, patting her head. You're noticing that everyone else still hasn't taken their eyes off of you.

"Yar, I know. Aye feel the same way."
"I don't think you do know, Jack. That's downright terrifying."

"He was an odd lot. That guy." You sit back. "When I was fightin' him, I made him bleed."

"You made him BLEED?" Yuuki seems the most shocked. "I didn't even bleed when I knocked my head against the roof of Biscotti castle, and you're saying that you made him bleed?"

"Aye, he even thanked me for it."

The looks of shock and fear turn to bewilderment and confusion. Each hero looks at one another with questions on their mind.
Except Louise, she's trying to use your jacket like a handkerchief.

"In any case, we needa step up our training and watch our countries far more closely than we have been. We need to find out more 'bout this man, and his country. Then, we need to figure out a way to fight him."

"..How do we do that? This guy has, like, thousands of years of experience on us, right?"

>Simple, we get our countries to start having these pretend-wars again. He's rusting while we're improving, we can't lose.

Anyway, we need to train together.
Also, not sure we want to do pretend-wars again... that might just distract us, giving our now confirmed enemies a chance to screw with us.

Beyond that, we also need to make sure we know how to fight someone who is a hero, it will not be the same as fighting a normal dude.

"Aye think the answer is obvious, we get together for weekly trainin'. I'm gonna find the best drill sergeants in the land to whip us into shape."

"You sure drill sergeants is what we need? I would think we would need things like weapons, or armor."
"Oh, that would help, aye. But I don't have any magic weapons except the ones we already have. So for the meantime, we gotta improve ourselves."

"Then, what were you thinking?"

"Fer one, our magic skills are lacking, I've noticed."
"They are?!" Yuuki seems shocked.
"I haven't used my magic much, so I can't tell." Cody sits back.

Dorje steps in, "That's exactly the problem that I'm having, I don't use my magic. It's not really something I think about when I fight."

"Listen, this'll sound a little weird. The guy I fought knew all sorts of magic. Aye think he may have known all the magic there is in the world, even. He threw lightning, water, wind, and fire like a tornado. We gotta be like that."

"What else should we do?"
"Aye was thinkin', a few weeks back Gallete had a pretend-war with our country. Maybe we could start doin' that."

"Pretend-war?" Cody says, scratching his chin. "I don't think I've heard of that."
"Yar, it's apparently a thing 'ere, because no one can get hurt."

"Huh, pretty smart."

"Aye, which is why we need to get in on that. If we may be goin' to real war, we need to get the pretend war down first."

"I can talk to Anne about this, but um." Yuuki hesitates, "How do I know she'll let me come train?"

"Yer gonna have to find a way to make that happen, Lass. Aye can't do it for you."

She seems almost a little sad to hear that. Even though it's clearly the truth.

You look out the front of the carriage to notice the top of Biscotti castle in the distance. You're almost home.

...Hm, maybe a game of tag?
They have to avoid us as best they can, we have to get at their tails?

Most certainly with handicaps. Weighted gear, dull senses, locations better suited for the one being chased (could you imagine a weighted down Jack trying to find and tag Madeliene, with her apparent rouge like skills, in the woods or a swamp? Or trying to get past Tulie's much better and stronger magic to her tail while also handicapped?

Gently, you shake Louise. She's still burying her face into your coat.
"'ey, calm down kiddo. Ye should train as well, it'll be good fer ya. Maybe drinkin' too for that matter."

She sits up, rubbing her eyes.
"It'll be fine, Lass. Don't worry 'bout it. Ye got us here any time ye need us."

Yuuki leans over and pulls Louise into a hug. You sit back and survey the reaction of your crew.
"Listen, Aye know this'll be tough. But it'll be better for us in the long term if we start doing this now instead of later."

"Can we-" Dorje interrupts, sitting upright. "discuss this with our princesses?"
"Aye, why not. Let's all meet up tonight to discuss all this over dinner. There are a lot of questions that need explainin'."

"Right, it'll be a good chance to meet up with the crew we left behind, too." Yuuki helpfully points out.

Cody's eyes suddenly go extremely wide.
"T-that we left behind?"

"Well yeah, we kind of got separated from the main group. I'm not even sure they know we're coming home."

"Oh shoot." Cody slaps his face, "I completely forgot."
"Ahh, it'll be fine Cody. What's the worse that can happen?"

"Hey." Dorje points toward the castle.

There's two airships anchored out in front of the castle gates. One is full of some knights searching and examining, the other has a familiar looking pilot and a single figure on board.

It's Cody's princess, Amaretti. She has a smile on her face, but her eyes seem to be shadowed. She stands unmoving on the deck of her airship as the caravan approaches.

"Good luck with that, Sailor." You slap him on the back as you turn around and make your way for the front of the carriage. He tries to say something, but only manages a squeak in return.

You hop out and run some ways toward the back. Sure enough, Tuile is talking her Uncle's ear off with Madeleine and Atsuko nearby.
"All the time? Seriously?" He says, leaning back. "Well, I want to hear more and all but it's about time for me to get back to-"

"Uncle, it's fine. You won't melt being above ground for a couple of nights. At least stay for dinner."

"Hey, you don't know that, in fact-"

"'ey" You interrupt, "Can I ask ye a question, moleman?"
Tuile blushes seeing you climb onto the cart. Madeleine stifles a laugh. Atsuko just kind of stares while her cheeks redden.

You pat Tuile on the head as you climb up, giving extra attention to her ears. This doesn't help her blush at all.

"Ya, sure. Just don't call me 'moleman'." He chuckles.

"Ye been 'round a long time, ye know of any good magic artifacts that may be of use to a band of heroes?"

He thinks about that question for a minute.
"You know, I might have just the thing. I'll talk about it some more once I get back to the under-"
"Uncle, no." Tuile holds him in place. "You're staying for dinner, you can tell him about it then."
