Well, you were promised food.

You make your way to the far wall, scanning the tables for something appropriately spider-sized- There's a table covered in trays of slices of heavy looking bread, topped with meats and cheeses. And then there's a table with the better part of a dead deer atop it, so you'll assume that one was meant for you.

Though the dwarves have likewise abandoned stupid tiny sandwiches in favour of roasted game.
Truly, kindred spirits.

You restrain yourself a little, settling with just the beast's leg, and approach the dwarves.

"Hello, yes. I am Lyra, though I'm afraid I did not get to hear your names."
"Good afternoon, Miss. I'm Stefan, and this is Herbert." "Just Herb, please."
"Nice to meet you both."

The both nod- Stefan, apparently the one leading this, is heavily bearded. A classical dwarf, if you will. Herb has a moustache that looks like it could attack someone all on its own.

"Wasn't aware the duke'd gone and made contacts in the forest. Though I suppose it's one way to one up everyone."
"Is that a problem of some sort?"
"Nothing like that," Herb interrupts. "Stefan is just bitter 'cause he didn't do it first."
"I see. May I ask about your jobs? Or is that rude, yes? I am very new to this."

They wave off your concerns, taking a moment from the conversation of have a few more bites from their food.
"That's fine. I'm a diplomat. Or a merchant. Depending on what needs doing at the moment, and whether it's one of the guilds bothering me, or the king. And Herbert is a blacksmith, and that's it."
"Spoken like someone who's never lifted a hammer in his life."
"He's also pretty bitter about being here."
"Could be working."

"I see? That just leaves with me a lot questions, yes. Do you mind?"
"We've got to wait till everyone is here, in any case. Fire away!"
"Not literally."
>>
>>41718143

You ignore the fact that they are apparently practicing some sort of comedy duo, and move straight to your questions.
"Well- You said guilds, yes? So I assume there is more than the adventurer's guild."
"Our city is ruled by the King and all the guilds. They look after different aspects of everything, but they all bow to the King in the end."
"I see."
"That's why I'm dragging Herbert around. He's representing the Smithing Guild, which is a fairly major piece of business right there."
"Mhm."

A few more humans filter into the room, shooting you all sorts of looks as they start to chat among themselves. There's even a half-elf from the port city, it seems.

"- Lady Auris of Firescarn, And Lady Brij of The Western Hives."

Wait, what.

You glance to the pair making their way down stairway now- An overly tall elfen woman, and a comparably smaller bee-girl. Who is wearing a little crown.
She couldn't actually be-
No, she even looks like Dad, doesn't she.

Huh.

"You aren't going to eat her, are you?"
"What."
"Spiders eat other insects, and all that."
"I do not eat people. And I am not staring at the bee, yes."
"Oh?"

>I am fairly certain that that is my aunt. Excuse me.

Writing!
>>
>>41718308
Yes, we need to arrange visiting the dwarves to learn their methods for smithing...
>>
I forgot, the elves live near the bees, don't they?
We should acquire a taste for honey while we are there.
Or at least honeyed meats.
Or honey-preserved things.
>>
>>41718449
Interestingly Lyra expressed she didn't care much for sweet stuff now, possibly due to giant spider palate, when we tried candy.
>>
>I am fairly certain that that is my aunt. Excuse me.

>>41718533
well, yeah. hence why we acquire the taste.
and
acquire a large supply to provide to nin in secret
>>
>>41718419
We must learn all the smithing styles. If we aren't careful our sister will try to get us to wear frilly dresses. Therefore, our aror must be able to beat her frills.

I think it was oir families neighbourhood that had bees.
Not the elves in general.

>>41718560
I don't see her acquiring a taste for honey if she doesn't like sweet stuff, unless they got bear meat tasting honey there.
Which wouldn't be impossible, true.

>>
>>41718594
As a spice, I could imagine it. Depends on how arachne tastes work. Lyra seems to not eat plants at all either.

I would weep for all the cakes she will never eat then, though.
>>
Might want to archive early since the faggots are acting up.
>>
>>41718639
We are an Omnivore, though being an alpha predator we have a genetic disposition towards meat. We could live on veggies, but meat is better. Bear is best...
>>
>>41718680
>Just report them and ignore them, besides, its probably a faggot, not faggots.
>>
>>41718680
Agreed. I thought these anti-quest fags had died out.
>>
>>41718682
How does Lyra feel about fish, though? I can't really remember too well.
Jin's sister really liked them, though.
>>
>>41718682
>We are an Omnivore,
Are we sure of that?

And even if she is, the fact Lyra hasn't even felt the desire to taste plants it seems pretty obvious her appetite is purely carnivorous. Though that might be personal taste.

"I am staring at the elf."
The merchant/diplomat/sentient beard glances between you and your potential family.

"Alright." He replies. "Why?"
"I am fairly certain that she is my aunt, yes."
"She's an elf."
"And so is my father. Excuse me, please."

You skitter along the wall towards the newest elf and chitin combo- Their current conversation partners see you coming and just conveniently drift away.
How nice.

"Good afternoon, yes."
"Good day."
"Greetings, Webwalker."

Your aunt(?) elbows the bee princess without looking at her.
"Bri- That's rude. Wait, that's rude, right?"
"She is a spider? She walks on webs."
"You don't just say that, though?"

While this is vaguely amusing, you've got things on your mind at the moment.

"It is fine, yes? I don't really care. And I do not think it is an insult, anyways?"
"See?"
"Brij, please use people's names and not descriptions of their species."

The elf sighs lightly, crossing her arms and looking up at you- Barely, but your height is definitely superior.
"I have to say though, I was surprised to hear that relations with the forest are opening up. Does that mean we'll be seeing silk in the cities sometime soon?"
You have a sudden and terrifying mental image of your sister on a throne of silk, cackling as she clothes the forest, then the world.
"- I do not know if the quantity will be sufficient, but there will most certainly be a very large and drastic increase in the amount of silk as well as clothing, yes."
Her eyes light up.
"Clothes, too? Hmmmm- Might have to take a trip, then. Organize a proper caravan."

You nod, smiling.
"That would be good, yes. You could visit your nephews and nieces, too."
"Yeah, that sounds- What?"
"You could visit your-"
"I heard- I heard that. What are you talking about?"

She watches you suspiciously, arms crossed, hands tight on her elbows.

"You are Erics' sister, yes?"

She blinks. Stares.
>>
>>41719216

Elf Venom. It is obviously the Firescarn Family blend. Any self respecting Elf could tell that.
>>
>>41719216
Our often short attention span?
>>
>>41719252
Actually as far as I remember from some of the first threads, all arachne got elf-like ears, mom got them too.
>>
>>41719274
"Wait- You've actually met him?"
"Yes, you could say that-"
"Honestly, I thought he'd be living in a ruin- Wait, was he living in a ruin?"
"I think he tried, yes."
"Haha- Godsdamn. How the hell did he get married, even?"
"Ah. Well, our mother is just as fond of ruins and dungeons as he is, yes."
"I guess it takes one to- What."

She's staring at you again.
There's already a grin spreading across her face.

"You- Hahaha- You aren't even kidding, are you?"
"No? Erics is my father, yes."
"And you have siblings?"
"There is six of us."
"Oh. Oh, this is a blessing and a half- Oh gods, I have to be there when you- Are you going to the Isle any time in the future?"

You nod.
"I was planning to meet my father's family, yes?"
"I need to be there when you meet mom. Yes. She'll pop. Just fall over."

You think it might be untoward for a diplomat to be giggling and cackling while plotting against her own mother, but you don't know elf culture too well.
You are fairly certain that your father and his entire family are insane, though.

"Damn- I need to do business. And This isn't the place to discuss..."
"That is fine, yes? I will be in town for a while. I waned to visit the dungeons."
She stares at you for a moment too long again, before breaking into a laugh.

"You're Erics' all right. You aren't a mage too, are you?"
"My sister is. I take after our mother more, I think."
"I'll give you our address- You can come and visit us after this mess."
"I think I would like that, yes."
>>
>>41719285

>>
>>41719821
They only hate monsterkin, not elves and dwarfs, or at least not the same way, since they wanted to do business with the dwarves.
I doubt they would have started shit with the bee with the elf right there, given they apparently came for negotiations.
>>
>>41719854
Then the obvious answer is to be bro with the dwarves and talk about all the stuff we crafted and that we want to learn more smithing techniques. Steal their business from right under them.
>>
>>41719888
I was refering to back during the war between them and the forest kingdom they wanted to hire all dwarven mercenaries.

No idea what you mean with stealing their business, Lyra doesn't exactly have a hufe need for people crafting stuff for her, so if anything she would compete with the dwarves.
