>You are a villager girl named Ellen from a small village in the nation of Neir, on the continent of Teege. As a member of the local militia/guard, you were trained in swordplay. Your fighting style is best compared to the mercenary class, though you're officially considered a knight of Neir.

>You have recently been made a member of the prince's personal guard. You have entered another country to investigate an assassination attempt.

>The questmasters are Octoling (myself), and Grandflaw. There's no particular rhyme or reason to who posts when, and sometimes one of us might not appear all.

>Character Death is always a possibility (this is Fire Emblem after all), but your actions can very easily influence who lives and who dies.

>Voting periods will last an average of ten to fifteen minutes, but this may be increased, decreased, or generally changed at any given moment based on voter turnout.

Yesterday, it was determined by General Corneria and King Drasma that your parties would attempt to work out some sort of deal with You have about a bit of time to kill in Elza Oasis while awaiting the return of Mitchell, who "knows a guy" in the Vautou, Maria (that blonde woman who was with Yancy when you first entered the town), and Cheryl, collectively acting as messengers to the Vautou's headquarters.

You spend the morning in that gym that you and Reese discovered last night, working on various pieces of exercise equipment unfamiliar to Orsin Village. Robert and Jay had also popped in, and Reese spent most of his time working out while talking about things with them. You didn't care too much or pay attention, let alone take many good looks at their very muscular figures. You had working out on the mind, of course!

After exiting the gym, you swore you saw Yancy speaking to Mimon way at the edge of town. Mimon was packed up as if he was heading somewhere.

>A. Check this out. What could he be up to?

Immediately, you decide to check on your most recent comrade, running up to him and the shaman.

Mimon doesn't particularly react to your presence, still speaking to Yancy.

"...so hopefully I can prevent something terrible from taking the negotiations by surprise."

Yancy nods, telling Mimon "I wish you the best of luck. Perhaps bring us back a defeated Deadlord to study?"

They both chuckle, and you finally find yourself in a reasonable spot to ask Mimon what he's doing.

"It seems like an extremely real possibility that these negotiations, should they go through, will be very rudely interrupted by the people who had Simia created in the first place. I was going to head out and see what I could do about nipping such an unfortunate likelihood in the bud."

He rattles off a few suggestions and reasons for them.

>A. Natalie. It's a good idea to have another healer/magically-intuned person out in the sea of sand.

"Uh, Quidel sounds like a good idea! Let's go find him!"

Together, the two of you comb the town for your horse-archer pal. There's so many places he could be in such a culturally-rich city, and ultimately you find him at... some outdoor restaurant, apparently having fully patched things up with Princess Salia. He's listening to her intently discuss how interesting ballistas are mechanically, how she wishes she could figure out a way to make them more mobile. Occasionally Quidel chimes in with some historical usage of the siege engines that are so rarely seen today.

He looks like he's about to bring something else up, before turning his head towards you two and saying, slightly flushed, "ah, Ellen, Mimon! Do you need the princess for something?"

"If Monica sent you, tell her I'm not staying cooped up in the tower when this city is the literal safest of places. I'm actually trying to enjoy myself for once now that Quidel's stopped being an idiot."

"Well, there's still some in there, but... I'm working on it." Presumably they mean the whole "wolf-racism" thing and he and Dama are getting along better.

Date or not, there's something that you and Mimon just decided that Quidel would be perfect for. You explain the situation to him and he nods after a moment.

"I'd be honored to help with this. Plus, being able to pick the brain of someone such as yourself..." his eyes light up for a moment, before turning towards a very slightly upset-looking Salia.

"No, really, I get it. You have your duties and this is a really important thing," Salia says sincerely.

Quidel nods and takes her hand, saying "I knew you would understand .I'll be back before you know it, Salia." He then leaves some gold on the table, presumably to cover his food.

The three of you head back towards the town's entrance, Mimon waving Yancy off as the three of you head off. Quidel is on his horse.

Mimon replies, "a few friends of mine, also very powerful as of last we spoke, live in Lew Oasis down this way. I was going to have them and I comb the areas around the Vautou's headquarters in case something came up, in case a fight was necessary."

Accepting this answer, you turn and look up at Quidel. "Uh, sorry for interrupting your date. Mimon and I both just thought you would be best for, uh... yeah."

Quidel doesn't seem to outwardly react beyond saying, "I understand, no worries. This is important and I would like to lend my bow to it." Turning towards Mimon, he finally says, "I feel like we'd met somewhere before, I mean before in Garou Village. Have you ever been to Rakche, or Tarvos Valley?"

Mimon replies matter-of-factly, "I've been all over Teege. Noba, Heim, Neir, Dain, even Tordo very briefly. Everywhere but the Ulir Islands. We easily could have crossed paths without realizing it."

Quidel nods, "yeah, don't blame you for avoiding Ulir. It's a wretched hive of piracy."

"Ulir Islands? How're they a wretched hive?"

Quidel, historian that he is, answers, "at first, the Ulir Archipelago was a vitally important location for intercontinental trade, but decades ago, pirates wound up taking the place over, turning it into, from what I've heard, a total hellhole. All attempts to take the place back have failed, and now it's rarely even safe to travel by sea in general."

Mimon adds, "it bleeds into the Southernmost portion of Dain, as well. There's a port town there that's pretty much overrun with the like."

That must be the place Biff and Byron mentioned that Duchess' last stand to be in, you offhandedly think.

Ultimately, Quidel asks you the next question, looking at your waist with concern. "Er, Ellen, that new sword of yours. Where did you get it?"

"The, uh, Anna who sold it to me called it a 'Devil Sword,' and she was at this stall back in town..."

You see the look on Quidel's face, immediately continuing, "I know it was a bad idea, before you say it, but... I wanted to have something extra in my corner in case some emergency came up and a stroke of luck was all that could save me anyway."

Quidel sighs, saying, "alright, but just don't rely on that thing too-"

You both feel a familiar sensation of drainedness as you start walking.

"Damn it, not now..." You say between tired breaths.

Mimon, actually trailing behind for once, says, "is... something the matter, you two? Are we traveling too fast for non-magical feet? Perhaps the heat is a bit much?"

"Th-this is a sign that... That Bolse is nearby. Some of us, we... we get really ill whenever he's close for someone."

Quidel continues, "and... he's certainly not going to come alone."

Surprisingly enough, Mimon... smiles. "This is... this is better than expected! If Bolse is right here, things are simplified. We can pick him up here, he can tell us everything he knows..."

"Easier said than done!' Quidel says, notching an arrow and looking at all sides, "he could easily have who knows how many deadlords or other undead things with him."

The first person to appear in your sights, however, is a tall, curvaceous Garou with long hair, dressed in an elegant yet flattering robe, feet gliding across the sand with a grace typically reserved for those capable of magic. She's wearing... well, you probably don't know that the word for them is sunglasses.

"Hey, is that..." Quidel says, "is that Lady Loba? What's she doing this far when I'd heard she was still unconscious?"

You wouldn't know, since you actually never met or even saw the leader of the Garou tribe, the mother of Dama, Vaga, and Ahua.

"Don't let your guard down, Quidel. This is bad news." You draw your reliable Iron Sword for the time being, leaving the Devil Sword at your side. You are sweating a lot, feel somewhat sick to your stomach.

Quidel nods, keeping his bow at the ready, and Mimon stands behind you reading through his own wind tome. He's opted to keep Excalbur shelved for the moment, at least at first.

Right you are to be cautious, since Loba quickly produces a very dark-looking tome.

"Nosferatu..?" Mimon asks before Quidel is encaptured in the move!

He... doesn't look remotely phased.

"Loba" says in sudden realization, "dear gods, they gave me a host with absolutely no magical potential. Me! Canis! I have always been a magic-user, so what were they-"

Whoever determined that Canis would take the form of Lady Loba must be a soul who values making dog-puns over the productivity of their faction. You and Quidel are quick to capitalize on the Deadlord's shock, you attacking her with your sword as he fires arrows into her.

It's actually a matter of seconds at the most before, even in your weakened states, you deal enough damage to the Deadlord that she backs as far off as possible, exclaiming, "I'll... I'll think of something, sometime! I will not be slain so pathetically."

The blond, deaf necromancer enters your sights, Bovis standing next to him, sword at the ready. Tigris and a Deadlord you don't recognize, a reasonably-armored fellow with a face-obscuring helmet wielding a lance, also approach.

"That's... Mus, I believe," Quidel says helpfully, choking on his words.

You run through the sand, trying your damnedest to keep it together long enough to chase Canis down. Of course, Deadlords seem to have the same lack of impededness from the seas of sound that anyone proficient in magic does, so for your troubles all you manage to get is brought down by Mus. He trips you up with his lance and tries to bring it down through you, only being stopped by suddenly catching on fire. He gets over it, but it buys you a moment to slink back, observing the battlefield.

Canis is standing away from the action, looking very frustratedly at the necromancer. Bovis is just standing guard by his master. Tigris is walking towards somebody... Is it Mimon? You turn around, also deducing the source of the flame spell from what you see...

"Mimon~! I had a vision of my brother heading this way!" Katina is alone, approaching the battlefield.

"Oh, no..." Mimon says, presumably at the realization that he's gonna have one more person to keep an eye on this fight.

You and Quidel both just decide to fall back, but meanwhile Mimon has taken to actually warding off the Deadlords himself and chewing out Katina as she runs towards the necromancer and Bovis.

"What is that girl thinking?" Quidel says, firing a few supporting arrows for every blast of repelling wind Mimon lets loose.

Bovis draws his sword as Katina approaches, but the necromancer raises his hand to stop his barrage, staring the blonde mage down with a look of... reminiscence, happiness, saying something that you can't make out.

"Bolse, it is you! Where have you been? What have you been up to?"

Something else you can't hear from hear.

"Can't hear? Oh, yeah... B-but at least you're alright! I'm so glad to-"

Okay, okay, so you're captured... But they didn't just immediately kill you for some reason. You're probably in some prison, in... You figure you're in Dain, since it sounds like all evidence points to Prince Lars being one of the bigshots of this whole... whatever the hell is going on.

First, you talk to Quidel, being the most familiar with him out of anyone so far. "What happened?"

"I was out of commission right when you were. Yancy here says he saw more, though."

Yancy says, "you were all knocked out except for Mimon, and when I approached Katina and Bolse, I was knocked out by the masked one with the sword... Bovis, yes, that's him. I don't know what became of Mimon, Lady Katina, or Sir Bolse, but if I had to respectively guess... Either dead or involved in this, political prisoner, and exactly what we already knew was Bolse's situation. I reported where I was headed before following Lady Katina, so at least we didn't just vanish into thin air. I swear, Biff would have a heart attack if I vanished without explanation again."

Finally, you speak to the woman with you. "Er, where are we?"

"I... don't know the location, but it's a place called Aum. I was moved here... recently, and I'm not entirely certain why. I thought I was slated to have my head cut off or something of the like, but."

"I'm, uh, Ellen, if Quidel and Yancy didn't already tell you..."

Your cellmate mumbles something. Upon asking her to speak up a bit, she says, "I'm... Victoria Ennase."

Quidel actually jumps a bit at hearing that name. "No way... THAT Victoria Ennase, right?"

She just... nods somberly, brokenly.

You and Yancy look at Quidel for clarification, and he says, "the, uh, former Duchess of Malva. Back when Malva was..."

"Rub salt in the wounds, then. Go on, there's nothing more that can be said to harm me than what already has been said and done."

"Oh, yes, I remember my brother bringing that up when we first reunited..." Yancy says.

So this is... the duchess that Biff and Byron were talking about, right?

Keeping your cool, you keep up conversation with Victoria. "Do you know why you're here?"

She slowly says, "I'm... not certain, but I've heard rumors of some cult coming into existence... We're here for a purpose, whatever that might be."

You nod, next asking how long she's been here. She was somewhat vague.

"It's been... I said it was recent, but I've honestly lost much of my sense of time. I tell myself it's been a month at the most, but... It's been far longer than a month since that young girl from Tarvos Valley was..." She pauses again.

To no one in particular, and thus to everyone, you ask, "what's going to happen to us?"

"We're going to survive and reunite with the prince." Quidel says, and you find yourself... agreeing. You're not going to succumb to the despair or fear of the situation.

More matter-of-factly, Yancy says, "remember how I'd said Miles and his mercenary friends were still last known to be searching for Bolse? Certainly, if they're still alive, they're going to find this place."

"Real reassuring, buddy," Quidel says to the dark mage.

"Miles..." Victoria says, recognizing the name of Duke Fathom's son. Makes sense, Duchess and all.

Bolse approaches your cells, and, finally speaking, says, "master Bolse and his sister wished for the Tarvosians to have these." He produces two rings, offering them to yourself and Quidel.

"Why?" You and Quidel ask Bovis at practically the same time.

After a moment, he answers, "because master Bolse and his sister wished for me to give these to you."

On a whim, you ask, "right, right... and do you happen to know where they keep confiscated weapons and armor and the like?"

"Behind a bookcase on the second floor of Master Bolse's library."

Somewhat surprised, Yancy asks, "and... why did you just tell us this?"

Bovis answers, "I was told upon summoning only to follow the orders of and protect Master Bolse. Your question does not conflict with that."

He then proceeds to stick his arm through your cell, setting one ring on your palm whether you like it or not. He then does the same to Quidel. Having completed his orders, he walked back the way he came.

You still don't trust the thing well enough to wear it, but... you feel like it's safe to keep on your person. You hide it away pretty well, and Victoria continues not reacting.

Quidel, on the other hand, feels like he can trust this ring, slipping it onto his right ring finger, like an asshole flaunting the fact that he still HAS a right ring finger. The rings themselves are a fine indigo, and Quidel doesn't appear to change in the slightest upon wearing his.

Regardless, Yancy asks him to take it off so he can examine it awhile, to which Quidel obliges. He removes it without any trouble and hands it over to his dark magical cellmate.

"I feel like there's some magical property to these," Yancy says, "but I don't believe I've ever seen it. Perhaps Lady Katina or Sir Bolse created it herself..."

"So, uh... None of you would happen to have something to use as a lockpick, would you? Or, uh, a... the knowhow to pick locks in general."

Quidel and Yancy shake their heads, but Victoria, uncertainly, says, "I... may have picked it up during my rebellion. I don't have anything thing that could be used for it, though, and it's... very far back in my mind."

You decide to keep talking to Victoria about other things, unrelated to your current situation. Maybe there's something you can bring up that can lighten her mood?

"So, er... how did you learn to pick locks?"

"It was... I recall having had a spat with some master thief called the Raven-Clawed Marauder. I'd shot him when he tried to rob my supplies, and in thanks a rival Outlaw of his, Marshal or something, ended up repaying me with knowledge. It... actually came in quite handy for breaking into places where Dain was storing gold when we were low on funds."

Next, you asked her about that girl she'd mentioned being here awhile ago.

"Vale, her name was... Sweet girl from Neir. She was certain her father or her godfather or the fellow who taught her how to swing a sword would come in time, but..." Her mood drops dramatically, before she continues. "She was with me maybe two weeks before the guards pulled her out. Never saw her again."

"I... think that that's who the Deadlord Simia is... used to be. Also, Quidel and I have met all three of those people she mentioned, and... well, the second one tried, at least."

That certainly helps her mood, but regardless, she sighs, "I... figured, but now I know for sure."

Outside of your range of sight, a door opens and shuts loudly, and someone walks through the halls, stopping somewhere you can't see.

The voice of Ahua, eldest daughter of Lady Loba, says, "still can't believe it... You of all people pulling something like that to our mother."

The only response heard back is a very incensed growl.

"Please, come around sometime... If Dama were to hear you'd pulled something so heinous, let alone with the help of those blasted Nomads..."

Finally, the growling stops, replaced with the impatient voice of Vaga, "your words are bothersome enough to make me hungry."

"Well, here's something for you. The gnawed remains a traitor deserves." You hear the sound of something being whipped at a wall, and then Ahua continuing, "you're so hostile... Just please, please come around."

The sounds of footsteps return, followed by the sounds of the door opening and closing once more.

Everyone is simply... staring in the conversation's direction.

And Undead are a type of monster therefore Shadowkiller would have it's bonus against them correct?

You're quick to exclaim, "hey, Vaga! That's you in the cell, right?"

A moment of silence passes, before he says "is that the human girl who thinks I'm despicable?"

"Depends, did you bring any bear with you?"

"Sadly no. Not even a beaststone. There's some meat on this bone, but I... I've learned some things about Ahua that make me uncertain I want to eat whatever it is."

Everyone winces before Vaga continues.

"I'd figured out after she woke up that... second-rate zombie sorceress had replaced our mother, and told Ahua that I would confront her, but she... She prepared for it and turned it around on me, made it look like I'd been the one who was complicit in her assassination, even figured out a way to rile up old hatred for the Tarvos in the process. She must've been the mole we speculated about that night."

>>

"But... why would she do that? Reopening those old wounds just for political gain..."

"Ahua's always been sort of... hostile towards Tarvos Nomads, even by our species' standards. She would read up about how the Garou used to live in Tarvos Valley and... I suppose she wanted an excuse to rally support for that, and my mother and I are just casualties of such a thing, especially since people LIKED us. They would've listened to us object to her thoughts."

"Hell... Did you learn anything else when you were looking into this?"

And now Vaga says in a deliberately-louder-than-necessary voice, "I learned that I'm smarter than you, since I'm not about to go running my mouth when I have to be so loud just to be heard."

"Oh, right... yeah."

"Tell you what. IF I know anything, I'll tell it to you when we're long gone from here."

And now Quidel speaks up, "and why are you so particularly certain of this?"

Vaga chuckles a bit before giving Quidel an answer. "Ahua traveled here on foot, and it's not as though everyone in Garou Village turned on me. A few of the village's young ladies who were... close fans of mine supported me, and I told them before I fled the village to keep an eye on Ahua. I'm certain at least one or two of them listened so fantastically that they're literally planning how to get me out right now."

"So you're relying on a bunch of fangirls you've poked."

"Essentially."

Between this, Miles, and the off chance you might bail yourself out, it's looking like there are just enough things that could almost kind of sort of possibly happen to get you out of here, eventually.

You just have to hope that they're not done with you and your friends by then.

Serious talk:
Which of the men has the current best 'romantic' relationship with Ellen?
This is Fire Emblem, which means that this is a serious question worth consideration outside of husbandodry.
>>
>>41803215
So... we decided on a husbando yet?
>>
>>41803323
Always a pleasure. I'd been hoping to shake things up for awhile now.
>>41803341
I don't want to bias you guys by saying whose relationship with Ellen I consider "most romantic," either by implying it's the "right" choice or by making you guys decide to deliberately avoid that pairing
>>41803361
Have you?
>>
>>41803341
Well, Ellen was taking a peek at some gym rats earlier, but that is nothing serious or anything.
>>
>>41803361
Who are our 'good' options?
It's late, so I'm dumb.
>>
>>41803417
Not really. Just wondering when someone is gonna slap our shit for being reckless. Guess losing our hometown made us all deathwishy. Also, we need to invest in a helmet. Getting sick and tired being knocked out all the time.
>>
>>41803475
Byron, Zoe, Garrus, and the late Lambert seem to be the most blatant potential love interests

Cheryl is explicitly confirmed to be off-the-table for romantic relationships in general
>>
>>41803475
The obvious choice is Bryon. But it seems like we might have gathered interest by a few others. I am waiting and see right now.
>>
>>41803484
"Someone slaps our shit for being reckless" seems to happen in most of Ellen's fights to some extent, and Gorman has actually confronted her about it.

I'm still honestly impressed that it's a genuine character flaw, and how well you guys have done with giving Ellen consistent personality in general.
>>
>>41803531
...And why do we want to husbando him, again?
Is he just a general nice but badass guy?
My mind isn't really improving.
>>
>>41803506
Would be a dick move if Lambert was a dreadlord. Wouldn't make any sense.
>>
>>41803557
You still don't know the exact rules of how Deadlords work in this setting.
>>
>>41803506
Cheryl is so much fun. Wonder why no one is interested in her.
>>
>>41803592
It's not that others aren't interested in her. It's that she isn't interested in anyone in that particular way.
>>
>>41803610
So, she has high standards.
>>
>>41803640
Or she could just not be interested in romance, or waiting for a different type of person.

>>41803640

>>41803662
Not at the moment, why?
>>
>>41803681
I might want to try drawing something but I don't want to get her completely wrong.

Also don't get your hopes up because I'm not that great of an artist either.
>>
>>41803700
Great or not, I seriously appreciate the gesture. It's also not brought up all too often, but her right hand is missing its ring and pinky fingers after part 5.
>>
>>41803783
Good thing it wasn't her left.
>>
>>41803817
Funnily enough, I think she was just established as left-handed during that same thread. It wasn't established in general which one was her dominant hand, but the fight scene with the first dracozombie made more sense to me with her using her left hand.

I'm still giggling about her using her right middle finger to flip the severed head off.
>>
>>41803861
Gotta use that one some day.
>"Hey, look, you left a finger! Guess which one."
>>
Also, just to be fair, I will concede that there is ONE character who's with the usual group who might not be alive by the time Ellen reunites with them. They're a character whose death was set in stone from before even the first thread began, the question has just been when I feel like it's time for them to go.

It's not someone you guys have interacted with much/shown much interest in, so don't worry.

This is some weird shit.
