Last Time, on Feral Necromancer Quest: A lot of shit happened in the longest, most marathon session we've had. You traveled through the desert, meeting some elves, and managing to convince them not to rob you. After which some orcs attacked you, and you slaughtered the lot. You met with the Desert Elf elder and you learned of the Oasis. You disabled the spirit responsible for fucking over the Desert Elf gatherers and you bound the spirits of the oasis to your will. You made sure that you are in charge of your minions, while mastering Necromancy and doubling the amount of minions you can control. You unlocked the Lich immortality option.

The Cast

Vlad Tepish: You, a necromancer, who after being exiled from his tribe, found a ruin belonging to a dead elven necromancer. Armed with ancient knowledge and magic you are on a quest for immortality (among other things)

Bathory: Your lover. Trying to bring her back to life was what lead to your exile in the first place. The process of preserving her spirit was, unbeknownst to you, excruciating, and she hated you for a long time. You have given her an immortal alchemical body. You have repaired your relationship with her, and you love each other dearly.

Lathrien: Your erstwhile hostage, now a friend and an apprentice, Lathrien is an elf and becoming quite a capable Necromancer and Shaman.

Melandie: Elven huntress and berserker. She joined up with your party on her own volition. She has had serious issues with rage management, and her runeblade seems to be affecting her mind. She has been focused and calm for the last few weeks, though you are uncertain of how long she can manage the facade.

You have walked a long time, and you have brought food and water to the starving populace of the desert elves. You have restored the Oasis as a base for gathering edibles for the people nearby. They should want for nothing, so long as they send caravans of gatherers to the oasis.

>Job done, leave. You need to proceed to the Temple of Pern as soon as possible.

The elder of the desert elves approaches you, as you enter his village, dragging behind you, trying to touch your feet. You have a feeling that this home deep symbolical significance, but your refuse to pay it any heed. You saved these people of certain starvation, now you are moving on.

The elves and the others from the village hail you as their saviour, and perhaps it is a little awkward to pass them by with no interaction, but you have a serious job to do. You leave the village and move further east. The Temple of Pern is only a week to the East, and you have re-supplied. In a straight line you should have no troubles with supplies...

>>41873981
The elven necromancer in the ruin =/= a lich as Vlad would be. The magic is about the only thing that would NEVER decay.

>>41873962
The emotions would be muted in expression, but would not actually be reduced.

The creature is worthless in its current state. You take one of your daggers and thrust it in its throat, wait for it to die. It doesn't take long for it to stop twitching. You bind it- it would not make much of a minion.

The blood drips on the hot sand and dries as soon as it hits the ground.

Physically, sure, but the magic would only increase. Even then, with the False Life spell you could pass for living well enough.

The dead creature should obey you in full.

'Speak, creature'
'Yes' It answers in a myriad of voices. None is the squeaky sound you heard from it in life.
'Speak of your magic'
'Yes, Vlad Tepish,' it says with resignation.
'Teach it to me.'

Nat 20!

The creature speaks of its magic in circles and in all but incomprehensible tongues. Luckily, you know the basics of the magic it has.

You have learned Enchantment II: Charm! For a brief period of time you can make even an outright enemy into a friend through this spell. With a successful casting of this spell, the disposition of the target turns to Friendly, regardless of its initial disposition. This is temporary, unless you can ensure your relationship through mundane means while the spell lasts.

You have learned Illusion III! You have learned Illusory Image- you can make the false appear real. You can create illusions of walls, people, and constructs of similar size, which appear real, until interacted with physically.

Well now, that was an important lesson in magic. You find yourself hungry, thirsty and exhausted a full 24 hours after you started the commune with the not-gnome's spirit. You've learned much, but you have exhausted yourself.

>Keep going. You can stay awake yet, and your goal is withing a few days ride.

Also, if we cast someting expectionally good as practice, that doesn't mean we get expectionally good at it.

Think of practice shooting. Hitting accidentally the bullseye won't make you a sniper on it's own

Just a "long march. Leg ok?"
If okay, we go rest. if not, we take a look.

'Stop!'

The caravan acquiesces to your orders as they should. You circle the mostly undead pack animals and make a camp that is mostly comfortable. The sand will keep heat, but the air will get freezing in the night. You all have hides and furs to keep warm in the night, and now that it is only the three of you living it is not an issue to camp comfortably.

You sit next to Melandie, as she leans on the shoulder of Lathrien.

'How is the new leg?'
'Would be fucking awesome if not for the sand. On proper terrain it'd be the best thing Hope we get back to that.'
'We'll get there. Need to get to the temple first.'
'Sure thing, Vlad. I'm not fucking complaining after all you've done for me.'
'About that sword...'
'Fuck that. I've been avoiding even thinking about the thing. I don't need those rages, it's fucking nothing but trouble.'

'Well, it's fucking creepy, but, like, you use it for good... Okay, I see what you're doing there.'
'Can you? You can give up the power. You can make yourself safe and weaker. But you will never be remembered.'
'I... Fuck, Vlad. I've done things I fucking despise. I don't know if I can control the thing.'
'If I did not believe you could I would tell you to hit the road, now that I've made one.'
'Sure, Vlad, whatever you say.'
'No, please. Understand me. I am giving you a choice. If you want to throw it all away it is probably the safest and the sanest thing to do. But power, well, you don't get power for nothing.'
'Yeah, man, I get it. I'm not fucking retarded. I will keep the sword for now, and I'll try to figure it out. If I lose it, I'll toss it.'
'Good. I am somewhat tired of sane Melandie.'

She smiles.

'Fuck, so am I.'
'So am I,' Says half-asleep Lathrien.
'What the fuck is that supposed to mean?'
'Hm? Nothing. I'm sleep-talking.'
'Damn right you are.'

The camp is protected and well set up. You have spoken to who you needed to. It is turning cold and dark. You feel you best turn in.

The warmth of the bear-skin knocks you out as soon as you close your eyes.

23! Great success!

The orcs are disorganized, though their numbers are many. You make a wedge formation with what cavalry you have. It proves to be extremely effective, with you at the van you break the lines of orcs wherever you ride. They take many casualties, while the orcs are wasting their power trying to take down your undead.

You are somewhat outside of their circle now, you could turn around and charge once more, but you, Lathrien and Melandie are now far away enough from the orcs to retreat.

There are way more of them than you thought. But you are used to facing numbers much above yours. And now that you understand how the dead work, you feel much more confident in raising minions as soon as they fall.

It was a defeat, but through a short session of meditation you managed to bring enough undead back to undeath to protect your party.

You dismiss the worthless voices in your head, anything that makes you doubt your destination. The plain cold and empty plains are nothing to you, You find the valleys and the hills recommended by you contacts. None of them are of any interest to you. You ride for days upon days

A week in, tired, hungry and thirsty you find the ruin, finally. It is almost sad in its simplicity. A few sandstone slabs making it clear that this temple has never been desecrated, but no more- the building is basic and of little architectural value.

It is time.

It actually the time. You have gathered friends around you. You have made minions rise from the ground.

You know it is time to go alone now.

The tunnels are positively charged with the energy of light. You feel somewhat uncomfortable, but you knew all along what you would be walking into.

You see the greatest works of art above you. You see beautiful mosaic under your feet. This ruin has been preserved to a far greater state than one you call home.

You sense the presence of a god and you move towards the prayer hall.

You reach it. A room with pews of wood and tables and altars. All of them covered in spiderwebs and decay. A man stands above you. Tall and cast in white marble. This is the statue of Pern. His face set in the midst of the setting sun. He stands allmighty at the end of the worship- hall.

There is much mundane beauty in the room. The roof is covered in paint, much of it impresses even you with no knowledge of the hidden art.

The hall is large and full of amazing art. And in a few dozens of minutes you figure out the ritual to anger the god whose realm you are within.

It is just about as you expected. A sacrifice of living blood. You will have to kill somebody to reach this sort of immortality. Life blood must flow.

You need something living you do not give a shit about. So you explore. As the elves said there are many dwarven caravans passing through the desert, trading basic supplies for survival. You manage to catch a young dwarf, out for a piss, as your blood sacrifice.

Rolled 6 + 6 (1d20 + 6)

>>41878480
>>
Why must we always piss gods off?
>>
>>41878551
Because gods are arrogant pricks, who demand respect they haven't earned.

Pieces of shit.
>>
18! It's something!

You find yourself in a labyrinth of mirrors and halls you do not recognize. Clearly Pern has some security against those who would enter his realm.

You sense where to go instincitvely, but you do not know how to break those who already see this as resort. You shall control the mind of this broken god.

Tomorrow.

With this concludes Feral Necromancer Quest XXIII.

You gain 3 exp for a total of 4. I will do the next quest tomorrow night, if I'm sober enough to contribute.

>>41878577
true but it gets annoying dealing with gods that are angry. Granted the necro one deserves it. Maybe this one to since it is vampirism. but I get the feeling it will be a reoccurring theme.
>>
>>41878599
sweet, lets level up dragon magic
>>
>>41878599
Shamanism?
>>
>>41878599
level up shamanism.
>>
>>41878599
So, since our secondary has become our primary does that mean we can pick a new secondary school?
>>
>>41878599
ok, we got maxed necromancy already
would levelling up shamanism help us with communing / fight with gods?
I'm all for dragon magic, but I'm gonna vote for levelling up shamanism as that looks like it needs a bit more urgent powering up.
>>
>>41878599
shaman please.
>>
>>41878640
I've been itching to level up Dragon Magic, but we are traversing a spirit realm. This once, I have to go with shamanism
>>
>>41878657
what this guy said
could we make dragon magic our secondary, and eventually primary, school of magic?
>>
>>41878599
Shamanism
>>
>>41878684
>>41878657
doubt it since shamnism used to be our primary so it makes sense that it becomes our primary after maxing out necro.
>>
>>41878683
up shamanism.!
>>
>>41878599
If we can shamanism. We should have definitely got 1-2 combos with our new learned magic. Over just a shamanism and necromancer combo.
>>
>>41878699
I knew that but, I meant if we could eventually get a new secondary.

What happened to that old elf chick that we found in the forest that taught us some enchanting. Least I think that was her field.
>>
I see pretty clear, if hesitant Shamanism VII.

You have learned Astral Projection! You can have your spirit leave your body! You cannot interact with the physical world in any way, but you can move and explore the world at the rate of thought.

You have unlocked possession immortality option! You can posess any sapient creature and replace your mind with theirs.

You have unlocked alchemical construct immortality option- if you build an appropriate construct you can transfer your soul to it.

You have 1/4 hivemind immortality option.
>>
>>41878739
nice nice, now we need to max dragon.
>>
>>41878739
*Their mind with yours
I'm pretty fucking drunk
>>
>>41878739
>You have 1/4 hivemind immortality option.
kek do you have any pros and cons for this one?
You already spoiled them for the other options.
>>41878739
Also doesn't this lower the DC of us going to the temples god realm?
How many options are left anyway?
>>
>>41878729
She went back to do what she was doing in the last dozen centuries or so; keeping away from the big things.

>>41878739
hi-hive what?! Everytime when I thing we hit the top/bottom, turns out there is more.
>>
>>41878739
>>41878750
hold up guys, if shamanism 7 is the immortality option, then what would shamanism 8 and 9 be?
I think we should max it out before devoting ourselves to dragon magic
>>
>>41878780
Thought we talked her into coming with us, going to our house, or us picking her up on the way back.

Hivemind:

Pros:
???
???
Uniquely perfect control over your minions.
Excellent transfer of information

Cons:
???
???
???
Lack of absolute control
???
>>
>>41878807
but to what degree? I don't know about you, but this sounds like some shit that might be worth investing in. I mean, it looks like we're gonna be dealing with pretty powerful spiritual beings in the future considering the shaman shit we've pulled
>>
>>41878816
dont forget: Being able to fuck our other half in a gangbang without it being cheating
>>
>>41878816
>>41878766
You know compared to that idea, being a litch sounds fucking peachy, just bring on the phylacteries and shit.
>>
>>41878864
Litch involves lack of emotions IC, I doubt Vlad would want that
>>
>>41878816
are you high, that's literally contradictory.

>Uniquely perfect control over your minions

Cons:
???????
you don't know shit of the cons
>>
>>41878836
I understand you completely, I just want dragon shape really bad
>>
>300+ replies
Fuck I'm too late.
>>
Through the haze of way too much booze, all I know is that there shall be 'blue-collar-' immortality options, whatever the fuck that means.
>>
>>41878836
I agree. Look at this way; gods are technically just very, very powerful spirits

>>41878877
I meant that in a way of; "Impaling trough my what? Beheading sounds fucking peachy, bring in the exicutioner!"

>>41878906
It's okay anon, tomorrow, we'll have a nice little talk with the God of Scorching Light. You haven't missed out major things.
>>
>>41878924
Ha ha what the fuck?
>>
Hell, all I know is that I'm running another game tomorrow, around 8PM GMT.

Captchas confuse me.

>>41878924
You are drunk QM. Did an awesome session, thanks for running.
Now lay down so we can do this all over again tomorrow!

>>
>>41879272
Hivemind a shit.

I'd rather not be a conglomeration of bullshit voices in the head of-

oh.

Fuck.

Well the point stands! I want Vlad to be Vlad, not Legion, for he is many.
>>
>>41879319
>pick Hivemind
>world is filled with fa/tg/uys
>>
Too drunk to go to sleep anyways, fuck hangovers. Feel free to try to weasel out hidden info out of me.
>>
>>41879492
What immortality options can we get if we level dragon magic? Are there any that require it an other magi trees?
>>
>>41879492
If we raise our Shamanism to max level will we be able to choose our next primary school? Will we even get a new primary school?
>>
>>41879352
>we can see all the fa/tg/uys

>like getting 40 insight in Bloodborne and seeing the amygdalas

Oh fuck.
>>
>>41879544
Draconic magic will start to really open up now that you pretty much have the main schools unlocked, and are relatively high up the draconic magic track. Now I ain't saying there's an option of giving up the currect options and going full dragon, but there might be some value in raising draconic magic even this close to the end.

That said, it'd be hard to run a quest for a dracolich, and so that particular immortality option is going to be crazy difficult. If you want to it's possible, but it ain't going to be as easy as getting a few points in dragons.

>>41879598
Really, volume 2 is kind of supposed to start by then. If it happens, there might be an option of choosing new secondary school as primary.

I mean, most schools of magic have so far been on the secondary school advancement track, so I don't see the need of changing it just yet.
>>
>>41879657
>dracolich

>not dracopire

pls, everyone knows a dragon with super regen is nigh unkillable.
>>
>>41879657
What level is dragon shape? Because I want it really bad
>>
>>41879695
oh god yes, but all the anti-vampire guys are ruining this, they're all crying muh options, muh powergaming when vampirism is brought up.
>>
>>41879744
You know what'll happen?

We'll see all the options, and decide "well, shit, vampirism wasn't that bad".

And I will chuckle heartily.
>>
>>41879703
Not the next tier. Relatively soon, if you focus on it, I guess.
>>
Aight, provided I have a survivable tier of hangovers tomorrow, I'll be running another, possibly the finale of Volume 1 Feral Necromancer Quest tomorrow. 8PM GMT is a likely start time.

Sees y'alls thens.
>>
>>41879786
Ditto
>>41879811
Thanks dead, get some sleep if you can brother
