Time for fire magic training
>>
Three months have passed, and your training has been every bit as intense as Koe promised it would be. You spent the first week repeating the training of the first day, but for longer periods of time, and with pain added as a distraction. You were also forced to spend two weeks with a snake in your bed, keeping it at bay with your Spirit Energy as you slept. You've been forced to work your way through a room of deadly traps, which nearly resulted in you being castrated. You've had to face off against powerful beasts deep in the castle, and have had to go days at a time without sleep.

But, it seems to be working, you're growing stronger. According to Koe, you're somewhere in the mid C-Class range right now, and he predicts you'll be far stronger by the time your training is done.

You've learned a new technique from Koe. It's a basic idea, you discharge Spirit Energy from your palm in a powerful blast. It's not quite as strong as the Spirit Gun, and it can only really be used at a close range, but you can use it multiple times and waste less energy with it.

Your training with Kasai has helped you as well. You can now create fireballs almost instantaneously, and have learned how to charge your feet with flames like you did with your fists (for whatever reason, this takes more of your energy than the fists do, but a kick is stronger than a punch, so it balances out a bit).

Now, you stand before Koe, waiting for the next bit of training.

"This next trial will be the most dangerous you've yet faced," Koe tells you seriously.

You don't doubt the truth of that, but each trial you've received has been worse than the last.

"So, what is it?" you ask.

"The bulk of your training has taken place within the confines of my castle," Koe says, standing. "While you've faced some harrowing trials, here you're relatively safe. Nobody is actively trying to kill you, and while this means you can train in some level of safety, I don't want you to lose your talent for surviving in real life-or death situations."

He steps forward, placing a hand on your shoulder. "So, we will be going on a trip for your next test. Are you ready?"

"Wait, a trip?" you ask. "You mean outside of your castle, as in, the demon world?"

"That is correct," Koe tells you. "Now, are you ready to begin?"

"Yes," you tell him.

You feel a chill as your vision darkens and you travel through the shadows along with your teacher. When your vision returns, you find yourself standing in front of a foreboding forest, above which towers Koe's castle. You can feel a darkness emanating from it, and are quite certain that going in will be incredibly dangerous.

"This forest is, as you can imagine, quite ancient," Koe explains. "It's home to many primitive beasts and demons, and is often a hiding place for outlaws. Your job is to travel through the woods and reach my castle by this time tomorrow. Should you fail to arrive in time, the castle gates will be shut, and you will not be allowed to return."

So last thread I got annoyed because people played us as a robot who just stands there and holds up a ceiling with one arm for six hours without even talking to the other person in the room. People told me it was a sub optimal choice because talking would tire us out, which could kill us because we were in potentially deadly training. This was dumb, but it was only standard /tg/ levels of dumb. Later I had to go, and while I was gone people voted to train with Kasai, which actually would tire us out, and put us at risk of dying over the next 6 months. This was more than a bit beyond the /tg/ standard of stupidity. I guess what I'm trying to ask here is how come you're all such hypocritical retards?

"No problem," you tell him confidently. "Guessing I'll have to scavenge for my own food out there, unless everything is poisonous for humans."

"Much of the food you would find is indeed poisonous for humans," Koe confirms. "My advice is to simply wait to eat until you return to my castle."

You take a step towards the woods, and feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand up. Koe seems to have vanished, and you feel like something is watching you from the trees.

You go with the direct approach, walking straight through the woods towards the castle. The trees tower over you, some of them appearing to be leaning towards the small path you're following. The feeling that you're being watched only grows more intense the further you go, and you're fairly certain you can see figures moving through the trees. You hear twigs snap in the distance, and a rustling in the bushes nearby. But, for a while, nothing attacks you.

As you continue walking, you suddenly trip, falling flat on your face. Looking back, you see a root right behind your foot. Figuring you tripped over it, you stand back up and begin walking again, only to fall a second time. This time, you look back to find a root wrapped around your ankle.

You're slowly pulled back across the grown towards a large tree, which has a hole in its trunk vaguely resembling a mouth.

Really doubt its the forest you should be worried about, pretty sure by the end of this test a lot of the inhabitants in the forest are going to have 3rd degree burns.
>>
>>41960124
You focus your inner flame into your foot, using Sprit Energy to set your foot, and by extension, the root, on fire. You hear a groan come from the tree, and the root unwraps from your leg, pulling back.

You push yourself up and run away from the tree before it has the chance to grab you again, dashing deeper into the forest. It doesn't take long for you to run into your next bit of trouble.

Something swoops down from the trees and slashes at your shoulder, leaving a shallow cut. You spin and see if vanish from sight, then spin again as you hear something behind you. This time, your cheek is cut as your attacker zips past, vanishing from sight.

You hear cackling surrounding you in the trees, multiple voices making their amusement known to you.

"We have company..." one of the creatures comments.

"Yes, yes! He's come for dinner! We gonna eat him up!" another voice adds.

The other voices shout their support for that idea, and you see vaguely humanoid figures perched in the trees, eyes glowing red as they stare down at you.

You wait for the next attack to come, trying to sense for their Spirit Energy. Unfortunately, they aren't making any effort to broadcast it, so you're more or less blind to their location and strength.

One of the creatures leaps from the trees, and you finally get a good look at it. It looks like some hideous cross between a man and a bat. It's quite scrawny, and naked save a dirty pair of pants.

It swoops down, and you strike as it gets close, punching it in the throat and knocking it into the trunk of a nearby tree. The creature slumps to the ground, unconscious.

The beasts in the trees are not happy, shrieking at what you did to their friend. They attack at the same time, nearly a dozen of the monsters swooping down and attacking from all sides. The ones in front of you are more cautious, and are able to avoid the punches you throw while the others cut at you with sharp talons.

If a lot of them end of getting hit together in a group and land of the ground, probably trow a fire ball at them. It should get the point across that we can easily kill them all if we wanted to if they see a bunch of their friends get knocked to the ground and burned.
>>
>>41960850
>>D. Activate your suit

You gather Spirit Energy and thrust your right palm forward, unleashing a blue blast on your foes.

"Spirit Blast!" you shout.

The two creatures in front of you swerve to get out of the way. But, caught off-guard, neither one of them moves quickly enough. Caught in your blast, they're thrown away from you, falling to the ground either unconscious or dead.

Several of the others panic, breaking off their attacks and falling into a retreat. This leaves your remaining attackers somewhat vulnerable, and you slam your right elbow into ones face before spinning and kicking another in the gut. The last attacker slashes at your back, but you turn and grab it by the leg, spinning and throwing it against a tree with enough force to cut through the trunk. The upper half of the tree falls on top of the unlucky demon, and the surviving creatures fly off in a panic.

You're cut and bleeding in a lot of places, but you should be fine. Still, maybe a direct approach isn't the best?

You've come this far already, and don't much care to turn back now. You say the word, and your suit activates, briefly illuminating the area around you as you're covered in flames. The fire fades, and the suit covers your body, making it harder for weak creatures like that to cut at you in the future.

For the next few hours, nothing attacks you, and you think you're about a quarter of the way through the forest. At this rate, you should reach the castle with plenty of time to spare. Still, as you walk, you feel a deepening sense of unease, and begin to think that you hear whispering all around you.

You create a ball of flame to illuminate your surroundings, and take a look around, but find nothing more than a few weak creatures that scurry away as you approach. Yet, the whispering only seems to get louder the further you go. Soon, you're actually able to make out some words.

"They will betray you...." the voice whispers all around you. "You will betray them....."

"Koenma fears you. Koe seeks to control you," it tells you. "Kasai despises your kind, and your friend Bruce will be killed if he tries to fight."

You glance around, but still see no signs of anybody following you. You're not sure what this voice is, exactly, but you aren't stopping for it.

"Kara despises you," the voice explains. "She sees you as guilty by association for the sins of another."

You keep walking, and eventually the voice fades away. You aren't placing too much stock in what was said, and continue your walk in silence for another few hours.

You stop in your tracks as a pair of eyes glare out at you, and a large creature emerges. He's tall and muscular, with brown skin and black eyes. He's unclothed except for a pair of shorts, and his hair is a wild mess. In his right hand he clutches a massive club, and as he steps towards you, the ground practically shakes.

"Who are you?" he bellows, stepping closer, before pausing and looking up at the sky. When he looks back down, you know that he's going to attack. "I'll kill you just like I killed them! You won't take me!"

For once, Koe seems confident that you're not just boasting. "Very well, then. Let's begin."

Two months later, your training is complete. Your strength and speed have increased greatly, and you've even learned a new technique; the Spirit Explosion. You can unleash Spirit Energy from all over your body in a powerful blast. It takes a lot of energy, but it packs a punch.

Now, Koe has taken you home. It's time to gather your allies and prepare to join in the assault on the compound. You stand on the street not far from your apartment complex. Kasai has told you that she will arrive before long, but you have time to speak to whomever you wish.

You decide to go to your apartment first, and see your old man before you leave.

You enter the building and make your way to your own apartment, opening the door and stepping inside. You find your father eating a sandwich while watching the news. When he sees you, he drops his food and rushes over to you, giving you a big hug. You let it slide, and he soon steps back.

"Glad you're back," you tell him. "How did...whatever you were doing go?"

You tell your father what you can, about the fact that you're about to go on another mission, and that things may not calm down for quite some time. You don't go into too much detail, in case Balor is watching. Still, your father looks plenty nervous with what little you've told him.

"I wish you didn't have to do this.." he tells you sadly. "But I guess you don't have much choice, and you've been training hard for this."

He gives you another hug. "I'm proud of you, son. Now get out there and win so you can come home."

An idea comes to your mind, and you rush across town to the burger joint you and your friends so often eat at. You get a burger and fries for Kaya, planning to give them to her for old time's sake when you see her again.

With that handles, you make your way to Bruce's apartment, knocking on the door and waiting for your friend to answer.

When he does, he gives you a big old grin. "Dude, welcome back!"

He claps you on the shoulder and laughs. "Great to see you! You have no idea how boring it's gotten around here without you. I mean, besides training. School sucks, Lucy must have asked me a million times if I've heard from you, and I hardly even see Kasai anymore."

"Yes," you tell him.

"ALRIGHT!" he says excitedly, pumping his fist. "Those demons are going down! There's no way they can stop both of us!"

"John's strong enough to be a threat, but you're really only good as a meat shield," Aalgan comments as he strolls down the hall.

"Hey, I finished your stupid training!" Bruce protests as his teacher approaches. "I'm way stronger than before!"

"Yes, you went from E-Class to upper D-Class. Congratulations, you're as strong as your friend here was six months ago," Aalgan says, stopping not far from the two of you. "Still, that's more than I expected from you."

"Shut up!" Bruce says, throwing a punch at Aalgan and missing completely as the man walks right past him.

He stops in front of you, crossing his arms. "As for you, Lord Koe was confident that he could help you reach at least upper C-Class. Was he right? Or were you overestimated?"

"Actually, he's in the lower B-Class now," a female voice answers.

You turn your head to see Kasai strolling down the hallway, stopping beside Bruce, who seems to be staring like he always does.

Your gang's all gathered. You can get going now, contact Koenma, or say goodbye to Lucy. Or, if there's anything else you'd like to settle, now would be the time.

"Say what?!" Bruce asks angrily.

Aalgan sniggers. "I don't remember ever saying I'd be taking orders from you, kid."

"It is decided," you hear Koe say as a familiar chill runs through you and your vision goes dark.

When your sight returns, you find yourself in a forest, standing in front of two women, one with dirty-blonde hair and brown eyes, and another with black hair and green eyes. One scowls when she sees you, while the other smiles and runs over to you, giving you a big hug.

"John! It's so good to see you!" she greets happily, taking a step back. "You're looking well."

"And I see you brought your demon pet," Kara adds.

You roll your eyes. "I'm more than ready for this. Are you ready to get started?"

She nods confidently. "Of course. Kaya, are you almost finished eating?"

Kaya lets out a belch and nods. "All done!"

Kara gives a small smile at her assistant's antics. "Alright then, let's get going, the compound isn't too far away. Kaya, I want you to hang back, let the three of us handle this."

She looks at Kasai, "You can fight, right?"

Kasai nods. "I haven't had to fight seriously in a while, though."

"Well, let's hope you're not rusty," Kara says, turning away from her. "And that you're not overestimating yourself."

"Let's hope you aren't underestimating me, little girl," Kasai replies, her body erupting into flames.

The heat is so intense that, even with your training, you find it a bit uncomfortable and take a step back. Kaya looks quite worried and Kara looks back over at Kasai in mild surprise.

"Hmm...not bad," she admits. "Looks like you really might do more than get in the way."

Kasai's flames grow higher, and you're pretty sure that she'll be starting a forest fire if this keeps up.

You take a moment to calm Kasai down before she burns the forest around you. She does eventually simmer down, but you can tell that having her and Kara together is not going to be a particularly pleasant experience.

You follow the Detective, Kasai walking at your side, and Kaya in the back. The hike goes mostly in silence as you make your way towards the compound. However, Kara speaks up as you begin to draw close.

"The first demon is Vardaak," she reminds you. "It shouldn't be long before we run into him. Assuming you're as strong as you should be, he shouldn't be much of a challenge for any of us, as long as we're careful about his speed."

"So then, who's going to fight him?" Kasai asks.

"I don't really care," Kara answers. "He's probably the weakest demon we'll encounter, so anyone who doesn't fight him probably won't be missing out."

"All three of us fighting at once with no practice fighting as a team will get in each other's way," Kara argues. "Besides, there are going to be a lot of opponents. Each of us should conserve as much energy as possible if we want to face what's in there."

"You don't have to worry about that," a voice says.

A dark creature rushes past you, leaping to attack Kara from behind. She casually leans out of the way, and the creature shoots right past her, landing in a crouch and spinning around.

It's a black-skinned, white-haired, skinny creature with a long snout. It stands up, a long tongue falling from its mouth and sliding back in.

"None of you will make it past me," it promises. "I hope you're all ready to die."

Kara snorts, taking a step forward. "The only one dying here today is you."

"Such confidence," the beast replies, chuckling to itself. "I'll enjoy ripping that from you with your throat."

"You won't land a single hit," Kara promises, dropping into a fighting stance.

>>41966397
Why did we barely learn any fire stuff over 6 months? Fire kicks are hardly any different from fire punches
>>
>>41966470
>block Kara's dodge
What
>>
>>41966493
How pissed will Kara be once the Kasai route is locked then?
>>
>>41966493
So how would the other girls react if we decided to use the spy glass on them?
>>
>>41966493
>She has a lot to prove.

I don't give a flying fuck, if you got shit to prove, prove it. Shut your fucking mouth and show what you have.

Shit, if you say you're going to knock someone the fuck out, you should just go over and do it. What's the point in talking?

Moreover, the fuck good does it do her to make everyone hate her? Shortsighted little fuck.

What a moron.
>>
>>41966528
Holy shit anon you really need to calm down
>>
>>41966501
>Kara getting attacked

>tries to move

>John just happens to be standing in the way so she can't move

>ded

I think that was the gist of it, m8.
>>
>>41966535
Sorry, fucking Bloodborne rage.
>>
>>41966510
She'll pretty much see you as Judas.

>>41966523
Kasai would mostly be confused, Kara would punch you out, Kaya would hit you with her oar, and Lucy would smack you across the face.

>>41966500
You can shoot streams of flames. Fire takes time to master, though.

There is no Jesus here, SOM.
>>
>>41966559
>You can shoot streams of flames. Fire takes time to master, though.

So can we just snap our fingers to cause it or do we have to train for it?
>>
>>41966559
So say we actually befriend her after grueling events and talks, would she end up apologizing for the way she acted when she first meet us?
>>
>>41966599
Possibly.

>>41966582
You can shoot blasts of fire from your palms.

>>41966579
I am your god.

>implying my god has a name that can be pronounced using human vocal structures

Pffffffffft
>>
>>41966618
So does Kasai just have the set of robes and nothing else as her only pair of clothes?
>>
>>41966636
Pretty much, she's not big on clothing, really, she just understands that, for reasons she doesn't quite get, nudity isn't generally accepted in most societies.

>>41966629
Silence, mortal!
>>
>>41966636
don't forget the unitard underneath
>>
>>41966668
>>
>>41966668
Balor is not running some illegal demon site where he is charging people to view John 24/7 since of his all seeing eye.
>>
>>41966688
So close.
>>
>>41966668
Ay yo

So can we ever tame and or raise a spirit/demon companion?
>>
>>41966715
No, he has better things to do. Like kill you.

>>41966719
I doubt it, unless you moved to demon world.
>>
>>41966738
No sspiri/demon things in Koe' front yard?
>>
>>41966738
So how famous is John now that most of the demon world probably knows that Balor is after him.
>>
>>41966738
How does our fire magic strength compare to kasai? Could Koe assign us a demon underling or something?
>>
>>41966775
Could we name him Hctib?
>>
>>41966752
No, no pets while you stay at Koe's!

>>41966767
He's becoming fairly well known.

>>41966775
Kasai is a centuries-old fire apparition. Chances are, you'll never be as skilled with fire techniques as she is.
>>
>>41966786
Aren't there contracts that people do together with elemental apparitions that increase their elemental powers?

Would Kasai be willing to do that with John if we asked her for a contract between us?
>>
>>41966786
How is John going down the various routes?
>>
>>41966809
It involves sex, doesn't it?
>>
>>41966813
What routes?

>>41966809
Not in this case. She showed up, you asked her to train you, she said "fine, but it might kill you" and here you are.
>>
>>41966844
The route to end up with Snake Way Lady.
>>
>>41966844
Think he means the girls or the path of John becoming more closer to demons, spirit world, or remain neutral.

Yessssss
>>
>>41966850
Let it go.

>>41966860
Koenma respects John to a degree, but is a bit wary of him.

Koe is quite impressed with John, and sees him as a valuable ally.

Kasai considers you a friend (a very rare thing for her) and feels loyal to you.

Lucy considers you a good friend, and she does worry about you a lot

Kara pretty much despises you, but she'll do everything in her power to help you make it through this mission alive

Kaya sees you as a good friend, and is glad to see you again
>>
>>41966850
Well your going to have to pick choices that ends with John becoming Koe's replacement in the demon world when Koe eventual kicks the bucket during the final showdown. Pretty sure Demon Lords are allowed harems of demon girls.
>>
>>41966882
>Let it go
Snake Way Lady is Elsa?

Could we end up with a imp or something as an assistant/underling courtesy of Koe?
>>
>>41966904
Possibly, I guess.
>>
>>41966892
>John ends up with bigger harem than Frank had
>>
>>41966931
He had like 5 girls right?
>>
>>41966882
Now how do we turn that loyalty into nudity?
>>
>>41966945
>imply that our culture is one that doesn't care about nudity.

All we need to do is go nude ourselves. She'll buy it.
>>
>>41966945
SOM did say she doesn't understand why she has too wear clothes. If she saw us naked she'd probably get naked.
>>
>>41966945
Yeah Kasai doesn't really understand how human relationships work, so good luck with that.
>>
>>41966925
So would Lucy and Kasai get along well or would she question why John has a poor girl wear only a robe following him?

And I mean that after we stab a spear through Balor's eye.
>>
>>41966945
Tell her good friends hug nude all the time, just as long as they are different genders.
>>
>>41966969
Well the mean, the earlier anons had some pretty good ideas
>>
>>41966976
They might get along okay.

>>41966993
Good to get you killed.
>>
>>41966945
Ask nicely?
>>
>>41967026
Obviously not right now.
>>
>>41966945
Burn a forest and take off your clothes?
>>
>>41967026
Now that's a good question. How would our human associates react to Kasai's appearance
>>
>>41967026
How pissed would Kara be if we managed to start a romance with Kaya?
>>
>>41967068
Bruce thinks she's hot.
>>
>>41967068
Most women would tell her to put on some clothes.

>>41967081
Extremely pissed, unless you make Kaya really happy, then she'll get over it.
>>
>>41967084
Bruce has good taste
>>
>>41967100
>>41967084
Bruce also thinks Lucy is hot, and Kaya is hot.
>>
>>41967097
And then John slowly drifts apart from his human existence, only associating and romancing the supernatural. Is it a blessed life or a cursed life? None could say for sure.
>>
>>41967140
The end
>>
>>41967126
>even he thinks Kara a shit
