Eating.
Drinking.
Partying.

It feels like forever since you were last able to do this.
It's just a shame you can't do it in peace, instead you find yourself using this time to discuss matters which are most unpleasant to think about.

"A man?"
"Another hero at that?"
"Aye." You take a drink from your cup. "Aye, that's what he told me at least, and I believe 'im."

In a way, you almost don't believe it yourself.

You are Jack Albator, handsome explorer, valiant hero, and guess what? You just rescued almost the entire royal class of a country! It was mostly cat people, sure, but they're important cat people! That has to be worth something.
Maybe you can finally start to see some respect around here. With respect comes fame! And treasure! And ''inspections"!

Most importantly, it means you now have a few more things working for you. Such as an airship you rightfully claimed as part of your winners rights, and the most powerful crew in the land! You're pretty much a real captain now!
The feeling hasn't quite sunk in yet, but it might after a few more drinks.

"Do you think we still need to worry about him?" Aligot takes a sip from his cup. "He just seems like a crazy guy living in the mountains."

>"Yar, a crazy guy who tried to kidnap half of the continent. He's a problem. We should prepare for him."
>"Aye think ye may have a point, but still."
>"It's something to at least think about."
>"Dunno, what do ye all think?"
>"Aye wish we didn't have to think about him, but we have to now."

"Yar, he IS a problem, and we should prepare for 'im."
"You seem seriously worried about this."

"Aye, I've been worried about a lot of things recently. This takes the cake."

"You know, he's not the only one who can use multiple types of emblem magic. That's just something you kind of learn over time."
"Hold it, stop." You look at him strangely, before asking something else that has had you worryin'.

"How old are ye?"
He stares back, blank expression on his face.
"Twenty-eight?"
"Not Twenty-eight-hundred?"
"No, just twenty-eight."

You sigh in relief.

"Alright, that out of the way. What do ye mean it's not uncommon? Aye thought ye were locked into an element once ye started using it."
He shrugs, "It's just practice, Jack. You're working with water right now, but you'll come to a point where learning something else is better than learning more water. Like you'll start to incorporate some ice, and maybe some wind. Provided you keep at it long enough."

"Aye wish ye told me this sooner, aye would have been doing that all along!"
"Jack, no no no. You don't sprint before you learn how to walk."
"You don't, but aye do."

"Jack, please calm down." Yuuki seems worried. "Panicking isn't going to make any of this better. We should try to think of something to do right now instead of being angry at Aligot."

"Aye! Like I said earlier, we needa start meetin' for training. And have these pretend-wars every week! And-"

"No you won't." Aligot interrupts again, "Those 'pretend-wars' take tons of time to set up, and bring in people from all across the countryside. It's not something you have once a week. Maybe once every three months, if you're lucky. That's like asking us to throw a festival every day."

>"And why not?!"
>"Sounds good, let's do that too."
>"There has to be something to give us combat experience, and quick."
>"Any better ideas, smartass?"

Drinking and fighting what's not to like about this plan.

also we are trying so hard to impress how fucking weird living this long is to the fluffballs and they just aren't getting it, its frustrating as all hell as they just don't get how freaked out we are about it.

I hope that Tuile's uncle has something really awesome for us.
Anyway, hardcore sparring should be workable given the heroes all meet regularly anyway.
In fact, throw the whole nation's army at them, they're each going to need to be able to solo any troops that they come across from the bear assholes.

Sure, they have a super-hero, but they only have one, so if some of our heroes can just curbstomp their army while another group slows him down, that'd be a start.

"Huh, ye know what Aligot. That's not a bad idea, let's do it."

His face turns to shock, and then to worry.
You chuckle to yourself.
"See Lad? That's how I felt when someone told me you varmints live to a thousand."
"..What do you mean? Also what do you mean by 'varmints'?"

"H-hey." Cody changes the subject, "There has to be something to give us combat experience, and quick. This guy has several thousand years on us, it seems."

"There are a few things you can do. Fritelli was considered the drill Sargent from hell before she retired-."
"Do ye know how old Fritelli is?"
"Jack, please don't ask Fritelli that if you see her. Anyway, Fritelli could probably help keep you in shape. Past that, you would have to learn. I am not certain who else would know more about working as a unit."

"Great! We'll get with Fritelli and maybe schedule training-"
"I'm not doing it."

You look toward the door to see Fritelli standing at the entrance.
"Sorry, I retired from doing that. I'm probably not even any good anymore. I can't teach you with good confidence. I can show you to someone who can, though."

>"Great! Good enough for me! "
>"Why not!?"
>"Don't do this now, Lass. "

"Why not, Lass!?"
"I haven't done it in a while, I'm out of practice, I'm not as mean as I used to be, and even if I was I don't think I could be mean to any of you." She crosses her arms. "Rule number one of being a drill sargant: Don't get too close to your privates, they may not be there one day."

"HAR, That's a good on- Wait a minute! Ye sayin' we're too close to ye?"
"That's exactly what I'm saying. It doesn't help that I'm really far out of practice, as well."

>Shoot, Lass. If that's all, then ye know that's just fine.
>Cmoooon.
>Aye, well. Ye have yer reasons then. Tell us about this other guy.
>If yer out of practice, then so are we. Give it a shot before ye write us off.
>Other?

In any case, the topic gradually shifts over to other methods of training that your crew may want to pursue.
Dorje suggested spending time in the remote mountains. Cody thinks meeting every month or so would be sufficient. Yuuki doesn't care, as long as we stay together.

Tuile suggested living with her uncle in the underworld for a while, but you don't think Keiko would like that too much.

The topic also shifts over to anyone else who may want to be included in this training regiment. So far there are the knights of Biscotti, who have helped you quite a bit you must admit. Also the knights of Gallete, who seem to need more training than anyone if Odelle's bumbling antics are any indication.
Then there's also other people who have natural talent of their own. Like Atsuko's sister, Akiko. As well as Camille, who is apparently pretty fearsome.

>Camille, and whatever silly thing she wants to do.
>Akiko will probably want to go hunting, that might be a good start.
>We should be meeting every week, training with anyone who is around.
>Tuile is pretty good at that barrier stuff. Maybe everyone needs to learn that again.
>Maybe trying to train Keiko! Teaching is the best way to learn, right?

>>41961229
Every month?!
Haha, nope, that isn't happening.
This is happening way more than just that.

>We should be meeting every week, training with anyone who is around.
>>Tuile is pretty good at that barrier stuff. Maybe everyone needs to learn that again.
>>Hardcore training - sure, mister super-badass hero might be better than any one of you, but if all heroes are able to contribute to everything, eventually ONE trick will get through his defenses.
>>
>>41961229
Actually, how about we just bring along everyone?
We have some pretty varied life experience here, so heroes can all bring up training regimes, while non-heroes also join in.

The one advantage we have is sheer numbers.
We should exploit that as much as we possible can.

Also, Announcer, when's Tuile's uncle going to reveal what he might have for us?

You look at Fritelli, downing your drink in one go.
"Shoot, Lass. If that's all, then ye know that's just fine. We aren't the hardest bunch to train."
"No, Jack. You don't understand. Poor training is worse than no training. At least with no training, you know that you're untrained."

"Yar, but aye think yer bein' hard on yerself. Most here are already combat veterans, at least they are now after that expedition."
"There's a difference between being a veteran and being trained."

You sigh, pouring yourself another glass.
"Listen, if yer out of practice, so are we. We need help from a professional, and yer the only one we know. We don't want some stranger, when we have you right here. Give us a shot before you write us off."

Har, now she looks embarrassed. Good, you say. It's good she has a little shame.
"Fine, I'll try it. Just for a little while, though. I'm still going to contact that guy to come in."
"Fine by me, just give it a shot."

--

Your group decides that the best way to improve yourselves is to meet every week. Which is something everyone can do easily, now that you have your own airship.

Which includes anyone who is around. You all agree that everyone has a little something to teach you, and even though some people are more useless than others, at least they know something that might be helpful.

Of course, there's one last thing you want to try.
"Hey Atsuko." You sit down next to her.
"Hmm?"

"Aye was wantin' to know if ye wanted to train with us when we got all settled in."
Her eyes light up, like you just said something that she was waiting to hear all her life.
"That would be wonderful! Thank you Jack!"

She leans forward and hugs you.
"Ahah, I was also thinkin', maybe we should get Keiko in on the trainin' too. Get 'er started young."

Atsuko leans back, and gives you an icy cold stare.
"What? It's great for Louise! She'd be good at it! Ye don't even know if she has a knack with-"

Argh. This'll be a hard sell.
