You are Sallazar, a young wizard who has recently left the army. You have taken a teaching job at Egwen Girls Convent.

In addition the Headmaster of the school wants you to run the schools adventurers club, to give some of the schools more unusual girls something fun to do.

Over the next week, due to her antics, Chame is on the outs with the other girls, no one from the club seems to want to be anywhere near her. Kittrane tells you that this weekend Fel Storm will not be fielding Chame or Nevyn. Nevyn because the school nurse isn't ready to sign her off, Chame because, well Kittrane gives a rather blunt reason, but you can't deny that Chame bought this on herself. Still, Kittrane, Syphoebeus, Evrumine and Cleya are a formidable team on their own.

You consider intervening in Chame being made a social outcast, but maybe its better to let these things run their course. Chame herself seems to be rather depressed and withdrawn over the whole affair, maybe she will learn her lesson?

Despite being very busy over the week, somehow you still manage to find time to make some magic items for the new 'good' team.

A holy sword is currently beyond your skills, and despite Sister Mary's desire to help Nataline, she doesn't seem to want to help you with Janraels equipment, huh, maybe she doesn't like her for some reason?
>>
Well absent a holy sword, you decide to try something else. For Janrael you make an energy blade. The empty hilt grows a blade of brilliant energy upon command. An excellent tool for slicing through all sorts of things, and such a pretty mix of white and gold colours too.

For Anlanesa you make a bracer that can absorb fire energy and heal her, seeing as she is a
natural target for those sorts of spells.

With her natural durability and ability to cast Stoneskin, Safire is well-protected. You don't make her any magic items as she diffidently assures you that the clubs items of Headband of Perfection and Belt of Giant Strength are enough for her, instead the two of you spend additional time working on the schools wards that week.

[Ward Progress 16%]

Phaysis wants something to help her keep up with Janrael, despite her ability to run on smoke she can't fly, and the two of them together could be very good at racing around the battlefield...
After some planning you make Phaysis a cloak that can burst into flame and swirl around her, burning her foes, or else work as a pair of burning wings in any form.

[Brilliant Energy Longsword: Ignores non-magical damage reduction, ignores object hardness.]
[Bracer of Fire Eating: half of fire damage taken is converted to healing.]
[Cloak of Fiery Wings: Wearer can turn it into wings at will, can be used to fly at twice land speed, or deal 1d6 fire damage to all foes in melee combat.]

Before you realise it, its the end of the week and the whole club and your two assistants, Thunder Drum and Master Telgether are on the Lightning Rail to your next match.

Your next match is only a few hours away, so rather than taking the overnight train you faced the task of waking up a group of recalcitrant teenagers and getting them moving very early in the morning.

Fortunately thanks to your spell mantle their attempts to get you to go away were unsuccessful, Kittranes room might need some repairs.
>>
XXX

You wake the girls up as you reach your destination “rise and shine ladies!” you bellow as the carriage pulls into the station “its time to beat on helpless idiots!”

The sleeping girls all wake up and glare at you or whisper curses in your direction.

“I want to start with the Professor” grumbles Syphoebeus.

“What was that?” you ask pleasantly, grinning at her.

“I said can't wait to get started Professor!” she says with forced jolliness.

“See, why can't you be more like Phoebe?” you ask the crowd of girls, before striding out amid snarls and promises of revenge.

“You don't think that was a bit much?” asks Master Telgether with a smile “I mean, it is 7 in the morning, and you had them up at 3.”

“Nah it's motivational” you say as you start levitating luggage “besides, they'll fight harder if they're angry.”

XXX

The world has a funny sense of humour.

“Well well well, if it isn't the mud-lugger” comes a haughty aristocratic voice that you recall only too well. “Have you found your natural place in life scum, hauling filth?”

You've got the girls in one of the many tents set up on the plains. This weekends dungeons are situated in vast open fields and all of the schools participating in the half-a dozen dungeons on offer have been allocated their own network of tents.

There must be clubs from thirty clubs here, plus people wanting to watch, assistants, various hangers on, damn the Daves hadn't been kidding when they said this had gotten popular. Just to get here you were pushing through the crowds.

Your girls are holed up in their tent, officially getting ready, but more likely trying to catch up on their sleep. Your stopped by the latrines whilst trying to get your bearings, you know that Fell Storm need to be in dungeon in thirty minutes but you've no idea where, nor can you find the Daves!

And one of your old schoolmates just found you...

“Lord Damir Richtof” you say coldly “It's not been long enough.”
>>
Turning you see that arrogant thug whom you remember from your daily torments as an apprentice.

He is dressed in rich finery, and holds a perfumed handkerchief to his nose as he looks down on you. His long blond hair is shiny and his blue eyes give you a look of utter contempt.

Accompanying him are a group of four rich-looking young louts, all with the same arrogant air. They all have identical jackets on, another team of young adventurers?

“I didn't think you wanted to become a teacher Richtof” you say, might as well be polite.

“Hardly mud-lugger” he scoffs “No the Westlake Academy of Higher Education simply wanted an advisor for their club, one who had actual military experience.”

So why did they hire him, as a decorative training dummy?

Before you can formulate a response, or just tell him to consider fornicating with his horse, you hear another voice, several voices in fact.

“Professor, Professor!” It's Kittrane, and Evrumine, in fact its all of team Fell Storm. You see them pushing through the crowds towards you.

You wave them over, Lord Richtof gives a start, and just as the girls get close he lets out a braying laugh “Oh this is too good!” he guffaws, the girls look puzzled as if wondering what the joke is, and Evrumine gives a polite half-smile, which disappears as Richtof continues “I'd heard you were a custodian for the Freak House mud-lugger and couldn't credit it, but you are aren't you? You're actually trying to fool these mistakes into thinking they are people!”

The four idiots with Richtof chuckle sycophantically, as you start to see red. Kittrane reaches casually over her shoulder for her axe, Cleya glares at Richtof, Evrumine looks like she can't decide whether to cry or charge. And Syphoebeus....just has a blank, emotionless expression, as if her mind is somewhere else. All four are kitted out in their weapons and armour, and ready for a fight. But you can't brawl here in the street with the crowd walking past.

As Richtof commits the stupid mistake of turning to his students whilst laughing at his own wit, your hands are moving in the gestures of a spell whilst you mumble the words under your breath.

Maybe its chance, maybe Richtof isn't as stupid as you think he is, but just as you complete your spell he whips around to glare at you. Still, he's far too late, it turns out that a Move Earth spell can move night soil just as easily as it can regular soil.

The geyser of liquid shit rises up and comes crashing down on where....Richtof was standing just a moment ago, spattering his young compatriots, but where the hell did he....ah!

You spin around and bring your staff up as everyone stops to stare and the four members of Westlake Adventurers club yell in anger that their clothes are ruined. Your girls have all jumped back to avoid getting hit by the geyser.

Richtof is standing right beside you, still glaring down at you, damn. You'd forgotten that although you graduated top of the class...he wasn't far behind.

“Still just a mud-lugger” he sneers “but at least you fight back now, that's progress I suppose.” His clothes are clean, so he can teleport pretty quickly...

“It's so much easier to fight back when you're not outnumbered ten to one” you grind out between clenched teeth.

But now a crowd is gathering, and people are staring.

“Let's go” you say to the girls, leading them away from Richtof and his idiots.

“What was that about?” asks Cleya, once you're away.

“Someone I used to know” you grumble “Look girls, you should always play fair, but if you end up against Westlake....grind them into the ground would you?”

“Sounds fun” says Syphoebeus, that strange look still on her face.

XXX

You are Kittrane, Balor Soulborn, former adventurer, currently leader of Team Fell Storm and you and your team are getting ready to defend your dungeon.
>>
“Ok” you say “this is the map of the dungeon we're going to be defending. The basic scenario is that there is an evil wizard, here” you point to the bottom right of the map “played by a simulacrum, as are most of the defenders. The adventurers are told they need to get to him in a certain amount of time and stop him, or they fight the wizard and the demon. Any questions?”

All three team members put their hands up. You're sat in a tent by the dungeon, planning your well, plan.

“What gear are we using?” asks Evrumine

“What's the plan?” asks Cleya, your second in command.

“Do we know who we're facing?” asks Syphoebeus “and did we get the demon scenario because someone wants to hurt you?” when she asks the second question her voice is much softer than normal.

“Um, we know what we're facing” you say, suddenly nervous for some reason “we're facing three teams, the first team is a novice team from a school called Hahlsmiths academy. Apparently they're all like, alchemist-”

“Artificer” Cleya says quietly

“Artificer-Wizards” you say, wow is it warm in here? “So uh, yeah they are not really fighters but might use some weird magic items or automata or stuff. And the Daves want us to go 'easy' on them.” yeah, like that'll ever happen.

“Are we going easy on them?” asks Evrumine.

“Maybe” you try to fob her off “Anyway, as to the other questions....”

What is the plan?

Letting the team pick

“What do you think?” Professor Sallazar spoke to you about leadership skills earlier in the week and you recall some of it, something about people being more invested in a plan they help make or something.

They exchange looks, then Evrumine says in her Torrow accent “We smash them as soon as they enter!”

“We're supposed to go easy on them” says Cleya chidingly “maybe we should hang back and let them fight the goblins?”

“Or just guard certain doors and locations?” suggests Phoebe.

“Yes good ideas” you say, nodding in what you hope is a leader-like way “I think we should spread out, maybe teams of two, and uh, be ready to move and guard other locations.”

Cleya gives a sly grin “So myself and Syphoebeus then?” she asks innocently.

That wasn't what you had in mind!

“Sounds good” says Syphoebeus, nodding “we spread the fighting ability and magic as equally as possible – putting myself and Kittrane together concentrates it all a bit too much.”

Oh...yeah, well it makes sense you guess, but does Syphoebeus not want to partner with you for some other reason?

You mentally shake yourself “anyway, for gear, pick out what you want.”

Cleya takes both wands; Evrumine complains about the lack of weapons, then takes the crossbow of paralysis, enchanted chainshirt and cloak of invisibility; Phoebe takes the Ring of Telepathic Bond, and you take your axe and your leather armour.

With everyone ready, you head out to your designated positions.

You and Evrumine lurk in the rooms in area 3, Phoebe and Cleya hide in the large cavern in area 6. Both groups are accompanied by four goblins.

“What if they discover the secret passage?” asks Evrumine.

“I can teleport” you say “and the rest of you will have to run.”

“Thanks” she says dryly.

-Here they come!- Sends Cleya

-Have they found you?- you send back.
>>
-Not yet- Sends Syphoebeus -We can just hear fighting outside the doors ahead, should we wait here, or go and engage?-

-Loud fighting- comments Cleya -Really loud-

-Oh yeah, me too- Sends Cleya, you can feel amusement down the link -I'll stick really close by Phoebe- You grit your teeth, what is up with her?

A short time later Phoebe sends -Ok, I like these guys!-

-What's happening?!- you send.

-Uh, they have some golems or something- sends Cleya -mechanical ones, two are soldiers that Phoebe is fighting, three are dammit that almost had me! Three are little flying things that shoot fire and there's a swarm of tiny mouse-sized things that are making a mess of the goblins-

-Bad?- You send

-Fun!- Responds Syphoebeus enthusiastically.

-So far we're just fighting dammit! Fighting the golems- sends Cleya -the Hahlsmiths team is arguing over whether to attack us or...ew....take us as slaves. Yuck, really? Um, all four are here, and as soon as I woah! Get a moment where I'm not dodging yikes! Going to blast them!-

-Bet we could sneak up on them!- Evrumine suggests

Yes, consulting your map, you could sneak up on the nerds whilst the others are fighting their little dolls....

Its not long before you and Evrumine are concealed behind partially-open doors. In the room ahead there is a small stream a few feet across, on the near side are four weedy-looking guys in cheap-looking clothing and leather overalls, looking more like workmen than wizards, their backs are to you as they watch the battle going on across the stream.

Syphoebeus battles two large mechanical constructs. One looks like a huge muscular guy in a loincloth, even bigger than her, it has her in a headlock but she's making it work to keep its grip. Meanwhile the other one is only about six foot tall and looks more like a regular soldier with armour, a sword and shield. It keeps trying to attack Phoebe but she keeps it back with wild hammer swings.

Cleya is alternating between levitating and running; a carpet of mouse-sized mechanical insects follow her and when she lands they climb up on her and she screams. But when she levitates three mechanical bat-things fly past her and fire gets of flame at her. Only on the ground does she have the agility to dodge them. Caught between two foes she doesn't really have much chance to fight back. Syphoebeus is likewise occupied with her defence.

As Cleya said, the four geeks are chuckling and nudging one another, getting excited when the mechanical bugs damage Cleyas clothes, or letting out gasps of enjoyment when Syphoebeus' twisting and writhing pulls her clothes tight. They really need a beating.

-Right- you direct Evrumine -You take the two geeks on the left, I take the two on the right-

-Your right or my right?- She asks.

-We're facing the same way- you remind her -ready?-

-If Chame were here...- she sends

-If Chame were here what?- you ask irritably

-Four lonely guys, all they have is their mechanical toys- She suggests, you get feelings of amusement down the link -Four hot exotic girls...think we can get them to surrender without fighting?-

-Get ready- you send to Evrumine, to the others you instruct -Just keep defending yourself, Cleya did they dispel your shield or something?-

-I uh, ah! I didn't ah, I didn't think!- she sends -Too busy dodging!-

-Well cast it, land and blast them!- you send back

-Right!- She sends, and starts to descend.

You draw upon the flames, the burning heat that is always within you and shape it into an explosive ball, and then cast it towards the four geeks. They don't notice anything until its too late.

[AE 8/13]

Two of them flee, on fire, before lights appear around then and extinguish your flames signal the judges declaring them 'dead'. One is burned but survives, though Evrumines follow-up charge sends him flying into the stream, again a light flare shows his 'death'.

The last one though...he is untouched by your flames, some sort of spell maybe?

He also reacts very quickly, pointing a wand at Evrumine that fires off a long wire that crackles with electricity when it touches her.

“Fry you cow!” he yells

Evrumine involuntarily dances on the spot before turning to face him with as glare, angry and hurt, but still in the fight.

[HP 22/29]

Syphoebeus continues to fend off her attackers, keeping them off her.

Cleya casts her shield spell and lands.

[AE 14/18]

She still squeals when the bugs start crawling on her, but they don't seem to be able to hurt her.

The fire bats fly around for another attack, and Cleya takes a single hit from one, but its a bad one and she gives a yelp of pain and staggers.

“Get him!” you yell as you and Evrumine charge at the remaining wizard, take him out and this is over!

At the same time you send orders to the others.

-Cleya just try to stay alive, Phoebes help her!-

As the geek tries to zap Evrumine again with his magic stick, the two of you hit him from both sides at once, throwing him into the air and head over heels. Not only does the flash of light indicate his 'death', you think you knocked him out too.

Syphoebeus escapes the grasp of the big construct, which takes one lumbering step after her then stops as a Dave-like voice booms out “Game over! Hahlsmiths are out!”

Syphoebeus ignores this and still rushes over to Cleya, healing her.

The conscious members of Hahlsmiths give out disappointed groans and their constructs walk over slowly to stand beside them.

-Can you check this idiot afterwards?- you ask Syphoebeus

-Sure- She responds. Once happy that Cleya is healed, she examines the final member of Hahlsmiths.

“He's fine” she tells everyone “just knocked silly” indeed he does seem to be recovering, his eyes opening as Syphoebeus is crouched over him.

“Did, did we win?” he croaks out.

“Not really” Syphoebeus says, shaking her head at him.

“Oh” he says, lying there.

One of the others says accusingly to you “Hey you ambushed us! That's not fair!”

You give him a puzzled look “Since when are fights 'fair'?” you ask him.

“You cheated!” he insists as one of his teammates lays a hand on his shoulder, and the other one drops his face into his palms, seemingly embarrassed by his allies conduct.

“Ric leave it” says the semi-conscious one “we lost” he looks over at you “what did we do wrong?”
>>
The agitated one, Ric, shrugs off his friends restraining hand and storms over to you, waving a finger in your face. You don't know whether to be angry or amused, this guy is shorter than the Professor, you took him out with one spell and he's face to, well, chest with you, and he looks like he wants to fight some more. You could crush him with one hand.

“You cheated and ambushed us!” he says “A bunch of girls like you could never beat us in a fair fight!”

You're tactics were good, but instead of thinking with your little heads and trying to "enslave" them, you should have pressed your advantage. Fighting makes noise and the longer you stay fighting in one spot, the more likely you'll get ambushed Or the enemy gets reinforcements. If neither come? You'll likely end up walking into a prepared defense.

You ignore Ric, he just isn't worth your time to swat away. At least their leader seems to be smarter.

“You did quite a few things wrong” you say, ready to give a list.

A flicker of movement towards the bottom of your vision prompts you to take a step back as Rics fist passes through the space your face was recently occupying. Seriously, was that a punch? Really? You could have dodged that in your sleep.

And his form? Who punches like that? If you hadn't moved he might have broken his wrist.

Normally someone taking a swing at you is an invitation, but no, you need to be a leader now. Besides, that was just pathetic, you're not angry, you mostly feel pity right now.

You casually grab Ric by the collar and lift him up to the tip of his toes as you tell the leader of Hahlsmiths your views.

Everyone around you seems frozen, as if not sure what you'll do, but Syphoebeus is wearing an amused smile.

As Ric gurgles in your grip, you explain “Ok, the golems, metal things, whatever, pretty good, they look tough and survived against Phoebe for more than a few seconds, that's not bad.”

“But when you had Phoebe and Cleya on the back foot” you say, your voice turning hard, and Rick thrashing in your grasp as you lift him higher “what did you do? Did you blast at them with lightning and fire? Did you fire off spells to blind and confuse them? Did you even watch your own backs? No!” you bark out “you stood there and thought with your tiny little wands, not your brains!”

Two of the team look ashamed, their leader tries to nod whilst lying down. Evrumine smirks and Cleya nods.

“You could have hit them with ever spell you had” you point out “instead you decide to perv on them, really? Really?!” you lift Ric higher as you recall the comments he was making about Phoebe...and Cleya, yeah he was saying some bad stuff about Cleya too, that you can't quite recall. His feet are off the floor now and his face is starting to change colour.
>>
“And bunching up at the back is only safe if you keep a golem or whatever to defend you” you say, dropping Ric “but mostly it was the standing around doing nothing that was dumb. You have these construct things and they seem pretty cool, did they take a lot of work?”

“Well yes” explains one of the team, a guy who has just taken his head out of his hands “We were up late most nights getting these rea-”

“The hard work doesn't stop when the fight starts” you say to him pointedly “all that effort making these is useless if you're not going to use them properly.” He nods as Ric gets to his feet, coughing.

Evrumine gives a short bout of applause and Cleya nods approvingly as you stop talking. Phoebe is helping their leader to his feet, but also gives you a pleased nod.

Three of the opposing team shake your hands, congratulate you on your win, and thank you for the match. One shrinks away in fear. Good, maybe he can learn.

XXX

“Ok, next match” you say to the team, after a short break “We are facing a team of rangers and their pets, these guys are more experienced than the last ones. The Weyrwoods Scout School is a military school with druid circle backing, so I guess we better be ready for stealth attacks.”

“And bears” says Evrumine.

“And bears” you say, damn, fighting one would be fun, maybe you could...no, leader now you remind yourself.

“Or stealth bears?” asks Cleya with a teasing smile as you gather around the map again.

“Ok, thoughts?” you ask them, ignoring her, do they all feel compelled to make jokes with Chame not here?

“If they get here” says Syphoebeus her hand almost touching yours as she points to the entrance on the map “They'll find the secret passage I bet.”

“Yeah” says Cleya “so we keep them away from it, or defend it.”

“The Daves said we can put the thirty goblins anywhere” you say “maybe pull them back to defend the wizard at his ritual?”
>>
“I dunno” says Evrumine “the goblins are pretty dumb, they might not see them.”

“They'll pepper them at range” says Syphoebeus “or draw them into the corridor and kill them.”

“Hmm, yeah” you say, staring at the map.

What's the plan?

“We'll disperse the goblins throughout the dungeon” you say “We'll stay at the back and defend the wizard.”

XXX

“This is boring” says Evrumine, wandering around the ritual circle for the umpteenth time “When are they going to get here?”

“Be patient” says Cleya “some of the adventuring groups like to explore every room.”

“Well can't they at least hurry up!” whines Evrumine.

“Oh hush” says Cleya, toying with the small crystal ball in her hands.

“And there's that” says Evrumine, pointing at Cleyas bauble “I thought the demon-summoning had a time limit.”

“Officially it does” says Syphoebeus with a smile.

“It's not a real time limit if we can activate it whenever we want” you point out sourly “That's just....”

“Cheating? Convenient drama?” asks Cleya

“Doesn't feel right” you grumble. All these dungeon designs and they lie to the players all this time? Things with no schedule just 'when the dungeon designer feels like it'.

“You hear that?” asks Syphoebeus, you all pause and listen, you can hear the sounds of battle in the distance, they'll be here soon...

XXX

Its not long before you see three rangers approach the bottom of the stairs. With them are a bear, a wolf and a giant eagle. The rangers are all wearing hooded cloaks, and have scarves over their lower faces. One calls out “Hand over the wizard and surrender”.

“You're popular” Evrumine whispers to Cleya.

“Not me” she says, nodding to the illusion behind you of the wizard doing his summoning “they want him.”

“So did the fourth one get killed?” Whispers Syphoebeus “or is he sneaking up on us?”

“Not sure” you whisper back “keep a look out.”

Out loud you say “He's right here, come and get him.”

-Just like we discussed- You send to your team -Let them have it-

You summon fire as Phoebe summons lightning.

[AE 7/13 and 10/17]

As your magic lashes out the rangers and their pets scatter, you manage to hit a single ranger and the wolf, and Syphoebeus hits only a single ranger. None of your targets fall, though they are clearly hurt.

With the spells away, Evrumine charges forwards, meeting the ranger with the swords, as well as the wolf and bear in combat.

Evrumine gives the ranger a savage cut, but is outnumbered three to one, and is quickly losing. The bear and the wolf both savage her as she tries to fend off the rangers twin swords. Evrumine doesn't back down though, and battles on grimly.

Cleya shakes the crystal ball and the illusion of the wizard summons the demon. A humanoid figure draped in chains steps from the circle, and heads towards the melee in the middle of the room.

The eagle swoops on Cleya but she manages to duck out of the way, it circles around for another attack.

Two arrows come your way, but shatter against your armour. You see the two rangers at the back exchange looks, and they draw strange-looking white arrows from their quivers, and take aim at you again.

Its getting late and I'm a little tired, so forgive me when I say I don't understand what you want to do.

According to the winning vote you want:

Kittrane to defend Cleya against the animal attacking her (Eagle)

Evrumine breaks off fighting the ranger, bear and wolf and goes after the rangers using ranged weapons at the back

Syphoebeus also attacks in melee the bow-using rangers at the back, currently 60ft away from her, whilst keeping herself between them and Kittrane

Cleyas flamestrikes the eagle

Evrumine vote is tied with keeping fighting in melee.

Syphoebeus is tied with healing Evrumine.

I'll wait a few minutes for an explanation, then break the ties.

The chain-covered demon charges into melee and lashes out at ranger and animals with fists and long animated chains. Its fists knock them flying and they flinch in pain when the chains touch them.

You charge forwards to help Evrumine even as you send to Syphoebeus -Heal her!-

Together you and Evrumine start to push her attackers back, including felling the ranger.

Syphoebeus joins you and restores Evrumine to full health.

Cleya fires off an eye-ray and the eagle is engulfed in flames and falls from the sky.

[AE 10/18]

However Cleya gives a scream and the telepathic link to her disappears. You spare a glance to see a ranger with two hand axes standing next to Cleya....as the light that indicates a 'kill' shines around her. Plus she looks a little beaten up, clutching at her side.

The wolf and bear both turn on you, but are unable to harm you due to your armour.

The two holy arrows however....

You give a bellow of pain and everything seems to go red. Your heart hammers in your chest and your blood boils as the two arrows piercing your skin are agony, they are anathema to you.

Dimly you register that both have only penetrated very lightly, flesh wounds at worst, but by the gods they 'hurt'!

You want to howl in fury, to lash out, to break and burn and never stop, as a red tide of fury builds within you...

You hear a voice say something, who could that be, Phoebe...?

“Kittrane, are you ok?!”

Words are meaningless

XXX

You are Syphoebeus, Titan Soulborn, Airship club member and currently the only member of Team Fell Storm up and thinking clearly.

Kittrane just grew to over eight feet in height and looks more demonic than ever: Her skin is scaled and her hear is covered in a crown of horns; two red bat-like wings have sprung from her back, shredding her armour, and a long tail has split out of the rear of her breeches.

She, Evrumine and the 'Demon' make short work of all the foes they are facing in melee and then Evvy turns and charges the guy with the axes standing next to Cleya...whilst Kittrane and the demon race onwards to the two rangers with bows....who both flee.

“Shouldn't you be stopping this?!” you yell out loud as you race after then, not entirely sure what to do if you can catch Kittrane.

“She hasn't broken any rules yet” the voice of one of the Daves comes down from overhead “besides, the non-lethality spell is still holding, at worse she can bruise them up a bit.”

You curse and push yourself to run faster. “Dammit its not about that!” you yell “What if Kittrane is hurt...or...or thinks she's some sort of monster when she comes 'round!”

The voice of the Professor comes from overhead “Try to calm her down...if you can't then we'll stop the match and I'll get involved.”

The two rangers have fled to a heavy set of double door and shurt them...and probably barred them. But together Demon-Kittrane and the summoned demon are hacking into the doors with furious determination....and won't take long before they're through.

“And how am I supposed to do that?” you ask, pausing. Both have their backs to you.

“Kittrane wouldn't hurt you” comes the earnest voice of Lucinda. Wow is everyone watching?
>>
“Not long ago she wanted to fight me” you say with a sigh “and you think this has changed because....?”

There's a pause, then Lucinda says “Just, try to get her to calm down, I think she'll listen to you. Talk to her, tell her that you're her friend.”

“Oh sure, be all cryptic” you grumble. Not much bothers you, but you suspect she knows something you don't. Ok, think, how has Kittrane reacted to you...fear. She's always been scared of you since your first fight, and you notice she's still nervous around you. But why is Lucinda asking you to be friendly with her? It just doesn't make sense.

Well, it's now or never...

Well, you might as well try it Lucindas way, if this doesn't work maybe you'll try scaring her into backing down.

“Kittrane” You say, walking up behind her “Look, I know you're angry but this isn't you, you're not angry at these guys and-ooof!” Kittranes tail is swinging back and forth as she hacks a hole in the door, and you just took a solid tail-slap in the chest.

Ok, time to get her to listen. You back up, then run towards Kittrane, jump on her back and wrap your arms around her, pinning hers to her sides.

Her reaction is immediate, and violent. Her head snaps back and you duck, taking a forehead full of horns instead of a face-full.

Then Kittrane tries slamming her back up against a wall.

“You know” you grunt out, as she slams you into the wall again “I forget sometimes that you all see me as some sort of-oof!-giant. I grew up around Titans, real ones, and -ugh- I'm used to being the small one, I'm using to getting tossed around so -hrrn- you keep it up Kittrane, just get it out of your system.” You keep talking to her in that same casual tone. You can't recall everything you say, but you recall talking about joining the adventuring club, about your early life, about your hopes for the future. In fact you keep holding on to Kittrane and talking after she has shrunk down to her usual size, and you're sprawled on the floor with an unconscious, semi-nude demon-girl in your arms.

You realise Professor Sallazar is standing next to you.

“Did we win?” you ask.

“Officially a draw” he says “the two remaining rangers beat the demon, but one died doing it, and one was almost dead, and deemed to have suffered fatal wounds.”

“Oh” you say, “Is this our first match we didn't win?”

“Well...” He draws it out “yes, but I'm just glad you and Kittrane are ok.”

“Yeah” you say, still holding her “me too, what happened?”

Professor Sallazar spreads his hands “Honestly” he says “I'm not sure, but this could be a new power of hers.”
>>
"To go berserk?” you ask sceptically “Some power huh.”

“At least we have a way to calm her down” he counters.

“Right” you say, wincing at your many bruises “So every time she gets angry I need to jump on her until she calms down?”

The Professors lips quick as if he wants to smile “Something like that perhaps” he says gravely “Now lets get her to the infirmary, just in case, then Cleya needs to pick out a new team mate.”

“Can she even do that?” You ask, standing as he levitates Kittranes unconscious form, fortunately just enough of her clothes remain to preserve her modesty

“The rules are a bit looser on this side of the match” says the Professor blandly.

Well, at least Lucindas crazy plan worked...though you still don't know why, maybe Kittrane just got tired after a while.

Thanks for running Pally, see you next week.

Thanks for the session, good fight.

Yeah, and as predicted going Rage was a bad thing and cost us the match.
So much to that.
>>
>>42035820
Is no one going to tell them they both want to fuck?
>>

A technical tie and a powerup doesn't seem like the slaughterfest and subsequent disqualification you predicted.
>>
>>42036057
Huh? No one predicted a slaughterfest.

Meta Clarification.

Next OP will include selection of 4th team member for Fell Storm

KIttrane and Nevyn are out for health reasons.

PoV character for next match will be Cleya. Chame is the other official member....but Cleya won't pick her.

Since the team is acting as the antagonists, the rules are more flexible, and Cleya can pick in-character from the volunteers wanting to join the evil team, or pick no one and run with just her, Syphoebeus and Evrumine.

Their third and final team to fight will be....the nobles of Westlake.

Then the Good Team gets to run through the dungeon.

She can't compete anymore, thats the same as being disqualified for all intents and purposes.
>>
>>42036089
Janrael!
>>
>>42036117
She doesn't want to be in it.

>>42036089
Lucy or phaysis maybe.
>>
>>42036089
So it's up to Chame to come up with a reason they should take her back and she's a shape shifter who knows her teacher dislikes the next team right?
>>
>>42036553
She doesn't have to convince Sallazar.
>>
>>42036600
No but she could have intel on the snobs that Fell Storm could use.
