Welcome back to Mortal Kombat Konquest (Yes, a Quest), an adventure that will span the realms and incorporates many aspects of Mortal Kombat canon, from the games to the films to the comics and more.

As our heroes marshal their forces to rally against the invaders of Outworld, led by the nefarious Shao Kahn, Akayama Kaito prepares to accompany the United States Special Forces on a mission into that dark realm. Using Shang Tsung's Nethership, they prepare for their mission. For the Special Forces, it is a mission to stop the Black Dragon from supplying weapons to Shao Kahn's armies. For Kaito, it is mission to rescue Turana, his sphinx companion.

Using the Nethership and working with Sonya to get the coordinates, Kaito supplies his inner power to move the ship. Funneling his energy into the ship's natural enchantment, he is able to pilot the ship to any body of water across the realms. Though he has never been to the secret Special Forces compound hidden in South Dakota, Sonya is his guide as the ship crosses physical barriers to deliver them safely to a body of water within the compound's fenced-in perimeter.

Accompanying them are Kenshi, Kaito's childhood friend and sparring partner, Johnny Cage, world-renowned martial artist and movie star, and Khameleon, the saurian Outworld shapeshifting assassin. As the boat materializes in the lake, Kaito looks around, finding a bunch of old bunkers and empty buildings.

"This is it?" he asks.

"There's more to it and meets the eye," Sonya says, taking out her radio. "Zulu-Niner, this is Lt. Blade, we are on site, I say again, we are on site."

Several soldiers emerge from the buildings, armed with weapons and wearing tactical gear. Sonya descends the ladder and is met by a man whom she salutes. "Colonel George, sir!" she says. "This is the team we will be bringing into the enemy territory."

The colonel looks at them. Johnny gives him a thumbs-up. "Lieutenant, you know that I'm a practical man, but that fellow," he points at Kaito, "is wearing a damned cape."

"It lets me fly," Kaito says, hovering a foot above the ground. "See?"

The cononel clears his throat. "Yes, well. A lot of things have changed lately; monsters, dragons, magic. The entire battlefield of this invasion is something the men and women of the armed forces were never trained to fight. So I ask you, Lieutenant, can we stop this invasion?"
>>
>>42043607

"I believe so, sir. With this ship, our team can cross the dimensional barriers that I described in my report of the first and second Mortal Kombat tournaments and bring us to Outworld."

"Alright. Your team is below, preparing."

"Below?" Kaito asks.

Sonya turns around. "The majority of the Special Forces facility is underground. You don't have clearance, you understand. But if you wait here, I'll bring my team up and then we can move out."

Sorry, on second thought, this. Talk to her about her goals. Restoring the Saurians in some fashion is obviously part of it. But maybe we could point out that she could get support for freeing her realm from Outworld maybe, on the Earthrealm side, or work on it on Earthrealm.

Well we know Khameleon is down since she said "anyone I like enough that isn't Reptile", basically.

>>42043896
Technically she said something about wanting a "worthy warrior"...but she didn't really specify whether she was willing to crossbreed, just establishing Reptile's not one. I mean, half-humans wouldn't be true Raptors...

Kaito nods at Sonya as he, Johnny, Kenshi and Khameleon wait at the boat. The female saurian looks at the soldiers, who eye her strangely. The colonel approaches Kaito.

"Son, am I to understand that this is your boat?"

"Well, the sorcerer who owned it previously blew up when he tried to kill me, so yeah, I guess it's mine."

The colonel isn't sure if he is serious or not, but he continues on. "I served with the Navy for a few years on a tour in the pacific. 'Course, that boat was metal, had cannons on it. But this wooden ship can travel to other worlds?"

"With a little magic, yeah," Kaito replies.

"Well, we've got a team coming up to equip the boat with some new gear. While this is highly unorthodox, this entire invasion is forcing us to take action we wouldn't normally take. And I trust Lt. Blade's judgment."

"Happy to help, Colonel," Kaito replies. He looks over at Johnny, who is chatting to some of the soldiers and handing out autographs. Khameleon lurks nearby, staying near the ship. While the colonel returns to the bunker to oversee the transfer of equipment onto the Nethership, Kaito thinks about how he should wait until the Special Forces team is ready to go.

Kaito approaches Khameleon, who continues to stare at the soldiers. "You alright?" he asks her.

"I'm not used to being stared at," she says. "I spend most of my time being invisible."

"Well, it's just that they're probably not used to seeing someone who looks like you on a military base," he says. "It's not because you're from Outworld, or anything."

"I'm not worried about them," she replies. "I doubt they could pose much a threat to me in the first place."

"Right... So, in Outworld, I'll be relying on you to be my guide. You know the land a lot better than I do. Turana won't be easy to reach; far as I know, she's almost always near Shao Kahn."

"No fortress is impenetrable," she says. "With his attention so focused on Earth, we should be able to sneak in and rescue her. With any luck, he'll never know she is gone."

"So what are you going to do once this invasion is over, anyway? Stay in Outworld?"

"My ultimate goal is not just to bring about a return of my race," she explains, "but my realm as well. Zaterra. Long ago my people lived within it and were prosperous, until Shao Kahn conquered us and nearly drove us into extinction."

"Your goals aren't too different from Kitana's," he says. "Now she has the Edenian kamidogu, she has a hope to bring back Edenia. Are you looking for the Zaterran Kamidogu?"

"It doesn't exist anymore," she says with closed eyes. "It was destroyed, long ago. If I am to bring about a new Zaterra, I must go about it another way."

Kaito scratches his head. "Like what?"

"It will not be as simple as restoring Edenia will be for Kitana, and that too has taken her a very long time to prepare for." She looks away. "But we should focus on rescuing your friend."

"So, what are your conditions for a perfect mate?"

"My, you're forward," she teases. "The invasion of your world is happening as we speak, and this is what's on your mind?"

"Hey, what can I say, I'm a mammal," he jokes.

"You certainly are," she says. "Well... Since you asked: I require someone strong, and without fear, so that my future generations will be the same."

"I see why you've ruled out Reptile," he says. "But if it has to be a saurian, who else does that leave? Are there any others of your kind?"

Her brows raise upwards. "I never said that it had to be a saurian."

Kaito blinks. "Really? Then how does it... you know, if you were to..."

She is clearly enjoying how uncomfortable he seems. "If you must know... This disguise I am wearing? It may hide my true visage, but we are closer to humans, Outworlders, Edenians and others than you may think. It is only when, for extended periods of time, that we are separated from our kind that we begin to devolve into more base reptilian creatures. But currently, I am in no such state. Reptile is further along than I, because I still work with others of my kind, which explains his rather ugly state."

"How many are there?"

"Not many," she says softly. "Far too few."

"But, aren't there side-effects to, you know, breeding outside your species?"

"Some," she says. "But as I would lay eggs, my children would be overwhelmingly saurian in nature."

"Woah," Kaito says. "You, uh... you lay eggs?"

She looks at him strangely. "Your women don't?" When he looks blankly at her, she softly chuckles. "That is a joke. I know how you mammals breed."

Nearby, the Special Forces team has arrived on the surface and teams of soldiers are carrying boxes of supplies and gear up onto the boat.

As Sonya brings out her team, Kaito excuses himself from Khameleon and goes to introduce himself. They're all wearing varied gear and don't have much in the way of matching uniforms, but they all look capable.

"Kaito, this is Lance, Torque, Finnigan, Stone, Steve and Sylence," Sonya introduces them all. Lance and Torgue both appear to be wearing some kind of augmented robotic arms, and two of them carry swords and knives.

Kaito holds in a comment that they look slightly like G.I. Joe actions figures. Instead, he asks Khameleon and Kenshi to spar with each other, in order for her to demonstrate some of the wilder abilities Outworld warriors tend to possess.

Kenshi's skill is admirable; he is an undisputed blackbelt in Tai Chi, with training in Judo and San Shou. Despite this, Khameleon's wilder abilities give her an edge, particularly her ability to cloak herself and copy the abilities of other assassins she has met and seen, alongside her natural saurian physiology. After a demonstration of this, she defeats him. Kaito helps him to his feet.

"Not all Outworld warriors are like her," Kaito tells the Special Forces. "But just know that you're stepping outside the normal rules of battle."

"Alright, let's move out," Sonya says, taking the team up the boat's boarding ramp. Once she and the others are aboard, she looks at Kaito. "So, you're the one who can move the ship. Where are we headed?"

Kaito thinks about all of the bodies of water he has been to in Outworld.

It's the choice with the highest yield, and highest risk. One one hand we'll be close to our objective, on the other hand they know we have a nethership.

About god damn time, 4chan.

"We'll be headed to the Kove not far from Shao Kahn's fortress. It's close to where I need to go, and chances are the Black Dragon will be nearby too."

"High risk," Sonya says. "That port could be busy."

"Well, since most of his army seems to be travelling by portal, I think it might be relatively empty," Kaito tells her. "Plus, we can always head somewhere else if it's too dangerous."

She nods. "The team's ready."

"And so am I," Johnny says as he walks up, draping an arm around her shoulder. "I gotta say, Sonya, it's real good to be heading back into Outworld with you again. Just like old times, right?"

She gives him an irritated look as she twists his hand off of her. "Not this time, Cage. You're with Kaito."

"But what if you get kidnapped again?" he says.

Kaito closes his eyes and he sees Sonya's fist fly up. As she walks away, he helps Johnny up. "What a woman..." he says as he stumbles a bit.

The lightning warrior sets him down with Kenshi as he prepares to bring the ship to Outworld. Heading to the front of the vessel, he begins to channel his energy into the ship's enchantment, focusing on the Kove. As the ship is encased with fog, he concentrates harder and fuels more of his power into the spell.

Less than ten minutes later, they are in Outworld, heading to the Kove. They work to anchor the ship away from the primary port, near a large cave. The Special Forces team works fast, setting up a base camp and getting their gear ready. Kaito, drained from a day of fighting, orb communication and two trips on the Nethership needs rest. He passes out once they have their perimeter protected by sentry guns.

When he awakens, it is evening. Nearby, the Special Forces team has really reinforced their position with additional weaponry, computer and radio equipment and camouflage. As he stretches, wincing slightly from his still-sore left arm, he gets up and walks over to Johnny, Sonya and Lance.

"Kaito, good, you're up. We're scanning the area for radio signals," Sonya explains to him as he approaches. "Since the Black Dragon are the only people who would have technology in Outworld, it should lead us right to them."

He looks around. "Where's Khameleon?" he asks.

"She went out scouting about two hours ago," Johnny says. "Early prep for our rescue mission. Unless, of course, you feel that my talents would be better served with the Special Forces and Lt. Blade here..."

Sonya rolls her eyes. "You're with him, Cage. I'm the senior officer on this mission."

Johnny lowers his glasses as he whispers in Kaito's ear, "I think I'm getting through to her."

"We've got something," Lance says as he looks at the screen. "I'm picking up several signals from the west... seems like the Black Dragon have a camp set up."

"Good. We head out tonight." She turns to the rest of the Special Forces. "Alright, we pack up in an hour! Move with a purpose!"

"Sonya!" Lance says. "I'm getting something else, from the south. A single signal."

"A lone Black Dragon scout?" she says, approaching the screen.

"No... It's not a normal radio signal and it's not BD. It's something else. It seems like... a distress signal."

Sonya looks at the screen with narrow eyes. "What else could possibly be in Outworld giving off a distress signal?"

"A cry for help?" Kaito wonders aloud. "I wonder if I can fly and check it out before Khameleon comes back..."

"I'll go check it out," Kaito volunteers. "I can fly down there and be back in no time."

Sonya thinks. "Alright. We've got an hour before we're moving out, but take this." She hands him a tracking device. "This will allow you to track the source of the signal, and link back up with us as well."

"Hopefully it won't take more than an hour," Kaito replies. "Got a radio handy?"

Sonya hands him a radio as well. Johnny looks at him. "You sure you're good going out alone?"

"I'll manage. Stay here with Sonya for the time being."

"No problem," Johnny says with a smile and a thumbs-up. "But what if you don't get back in time?"

"I'll radio ahead if I run into trouble and it'll take too long," he tells them. "Alright. I'm off."

Kaito lifts up and takes off, flying south. He takes out the tracking device and soars across the Outworld plains towards the source of the signal. He squints a bit as he picks up speed, concentrating on getting to his objective as quickly as possible. He reaches the wastelands and flies over scorched battlefields and burnt ruins of ancient civilizations.

Soon, he is flying over a desert. He must have been flying for at least thirty minutes now, but he's gotten considerably closer to his target. He checks the device again and scans the area; he knows that it is coming from somewhere around here.

Kaito touches down on the soft sands and begins to look, finding nothing at first. He takes out his radio and calls back to the camp. "This is Kaito. Can you read me?"

"Lima charlie," Sonya says.

"What?"

"Loud and clear. Did you find what you are looking for?"

"Negative. I don't--"

Suddenly a hand bursts out of the sand and grabs his ankle. Kaito nearly screams as he pulls his foot away and drops the radio. "Kaito? Kaito, what's going on? Do you read me? Kaito!"

He looks at the hand; it is a black glove with a yellow metal plate on the back of its wrist and a yellow gauntlet protecting its forearm. Experimentally, Kaito grabs the arm and pulls... unearthing a yellow Lin Kuei cyborg, completely buried in the sand.

His eyes narrow as he takes in the sight. He remembers fighting a cyborg much like this in the Lin Kuei temple before he brought it down... In fact, he's almost positive that this must be the exact same cyborg. But how can that be possible?

Kaito leans down and looks at the cyborg. From being covered head to toe in sand, its joints are full of it and his armor is dusty. Kaito waves a hand in front of his face but receives no response.

The cyborg's hand twitches slightly, reflexively grabbing and letting go of thin air. His head tilts and shakes a bit. Deciding that he must be damaged, Kaito pulls him out about halfway of the sand, grunting as he does.

The cyborg continues to twitch and generally remain inactive. He then, however, speaks, in a low, robotic voice. "LK-4D4: Primary systems damaged. Power failing. Coolant and fluid distribution systems compromised. Lin Kuei unresponsive to contact. Self-repair functions damaged. Self-destruct sequence non-functional; incapable of self-termination. Mission failure. Mission failure. Mission failure."

Kaito looks at him and dusts him off a bit. His armor is burnt in some places and some wires are sticking out. Parts of him are stained with a black, oil-like blood that he is leaking.

"You're in bad shape, buddy," he says to the cyborg.

Strangely enough, he receives a response, but it is muted and low.

He holds his ear close to the cyborg's mouthpiece and he speaks again.

"Kill... me..."

Kaito sits up, wide-eyed. The cyborg cannot self-destruct and now is asking to die. He experimentally tries to pick him up, finding him to be very heavy, likely weighed down by the armor and interior cybernetic components. He could try flying and carrying him back, but he won't nearly be able to fly as fast, and likely would need to take breaks.

Of course, the other options would be to either leave him here in misery or end it all right now.

After explaining to her the current situation, Sonya calls back, "If you can't rescue him in time, then it might be best to just leave him. We can send a retrieval team later to collect his body for the technology."

"But what if I can get him back?" he asks.

"Then we'll take him alive if we can, but he's not our mission, Kaito. We're here to stop the Black Dragon and you're here to rescue your friend. We can't drag a cyborg around who can't walk."

Kaito lowers the radio as he looks at the cyborg baking in the sun.

And with that, I need to get to bed. I'll be up in the morning to respond to your choices.

Help keep the thread alive with discussion about what we should do with Cyrax here.

Fun fact: Cyrax is here because of Kaito. Normally, Cyrax would only end up here after the events of MK3, but when Kaito destroyed the Lin Kuei temple during the events of MKII, Cyrax's inner transportation unit was damaged and flung him here where he has languished ever since, slowly falling to pieces while the unwilling soul inside of him tries desperately to fight against the machinations of the Cyber Initiative, slowly succumbing to the environment as all hope dies within what little scraps of humanity he has left.

Have fun until I get back

We'll have to get Sub-Zero in on this when we've returned from Outworld. It may allow a greater connection between Sonya's Special Forces and his Lin Kuei.
It also might help when we're fighting the Tekunin later.
>>
Can we go find sub zero's ice dragons at some point?

How long do dragon eggs incubate? 'Cause that ending's like 25 years from now.
>>
>>42049978
We should also go on a quest to find the hyperbolic time chamber then
>>
Whatever hopes/plans we got to help Sub-Zero with his condition might be applied to him as well.
Altough it will probably need much more juice
>>
>>42050986
Have Turana clone him a body then transfer his soul? She did study Shang's work
>>
>>42051550
Well, I know full cyberization requires magic on Quan Chi's level to fix. At which point he literally destroyed everything except the few organic bits left, then recreated the body.

But Sub-Zero is only had first stage cyberization done to him, so hopefully we'll be able to fix him with a bath in a healing spring or Kaito's powers or something.
Honestly, I'd be happy with just fixing his jaw for right now.
>>
>>42051741
I meant Cyrax, but yeah. Still that leads to weird outcomes like Taruna considering mixing her sphinx DNA with Human, Edenian, or Shokan blood maybe.
>>
>>42051550
I remember her saying something along the lines of "knowing what kind of magic I don't wish to pursue"
I'm guessing that means Necromancy.

Anyways whatever existential problems Sub-Zero has, it probably barely compares to Cryax's. Still they might find comfort in the fact that they are not alone with their problems

Also, it depends on which version of the Cyberization that Damashi is going with. In the Original Timeline, Cyrax had alot left. Like both arms, his head and face, ect. The cyberization was more armor/internal.

In the New Timeline, the cyberization seemed to be alot more invasive and damaging.
>>
>>42051850
True enough.
Does cloning count as necromancy though? Like, when you get down to brass tacks.

It's possible there are different methods depending on the generation of tech they're using to do it.

I think Cyber Sub-Zero was the latest/most advanced. Not sure though.
It's also been suggested by John Vogel that the frame Cyber Sub-Zero used was the one that was used by Cyborg Smoke in the original timeline.
>>
>>42051914
I think it's kind of a gray area. I mean; you are still messing with souls, but not in the same way as mixing bloodlines, and making monsters
>>
So either way. We're agreed that the traitor in Kitana's court was likely Tanya or the handmaiden right?
I mean...
Rain's a dick that wants power, and Kitana ruling is the easiest way to achieve that for him.

Khameleon has no reason to help Shao Kahn, except by accident, so she's out.

Asgaarth is one of her father's advisors, and had he thrown the gates open probably wouldn't have been beaten to within an inch of his life in the arena.

Tanya has to deal with there being no other Edenian males to continue her bloodline. And we don't know her well enough except that her family is somewhere in the royal line. It's also possible she opened the gates to buy herself clemency, and used it to aid Kitana's escape. Which isn't traitorous perse but is a tad off unless she had reason to believe they'd be over run before reinforcements arrived.

The handmaiden is likely running off Stockholm Syndrome.

Kaito looks down at the cyborg and feels a strong urge to not let him die.

"Everyone deserves a second chance," he says to himself as he leans down and picks him up. He grunts at the added weight and maneuvers him so that he is carrying the cyborg on his back. He attempts to fly and manages to get a few yards before touching down due to the strain.

"Oh, this is going to be a fun day," he says, taking out the radio. "Sonya, this is Kaito."

"I read you. What did you decide? Over."

"I'm bringing the cyborg back. He's heavy, so it might be a while. Uh... Over."

"Well, we can't wait for you to make our move on the Black Dragon. Our team will head out and your team will stay back, over."

"Alright. I understand and copy and rodger that," he says, grunting a bit from the cyborg's added weight. "Kaito out."

Suddenly the radio picks back up. "Hey, Kaito!" It's Johnny. "Hey man, Khameleon isn't back yet. Thought you should know."

That's strange. "Alright, thanks for telling me. I'll be back as soon as I can."

He puts the radio back onto his belt and gets ready for the difficult trip.

Kaito focuses hard and knows that a life is on the line, but even so, he is only human. He flies for a good distance but does not yet clear the desert.

He sets down and accidentally stumbles a bit, nearly dropping the cyborg. Kaito breathes heavily and feels his muscles begin to burn.

"Alright, alright, good push, good push," he says between breathes. "We'll get you out of here yet, buddy, don't worr--"

He then hears a noise, a low grumbling sound, like that of a stomach that is immensely hungry.

"...Was that you?" he asks the unresponsive cyborg.

Just then, the sand before him bursts open as something from below emerges. Sand is sprayed in all directions as a pillar of red, pulsing flesh rises upward several yards, its phallic head opening to reveal a pair of pink, fleshy lips, set in which are rows of circular teeth and around which are a collection of large black mandibles that expand and contract. The mouth itself is large enough to swallow a man whole.

"...Usul, we have wormsign," Kaito mutters to himself.

The red worm then opens its mouth and spews forth a torrent of acid. Kaito grits his teeth and leaps away as the acid hits the ground where he was just standing. He lands nearby, and the worm turns its massive head to continue looking at him. Its body then charges up with electricity, much to Kaito's amazement and horror, and it launches a bolt from its mouth, which he also manages to dodge, just barely.

"You have acid and lightning?" Kaito desperately shouts between pants. "That's... that's not fair!"

The worm roars and moves forward through the sand, ready to attack again.

To be fair, that wasn't the actor's fault. The first MK movie had some pretty great people playing the characters and wasn't bad story wise.

Kaito takes off and gets off the sand. He reasons that if the worm lacks eyes, it must detect its prey through vibration detection. He hovers above the ground for a moment, looking up at the worm.

The worm is still, not sensing any further movement. A strange flap on its neck opens up and it begins to smell the air around it with deep inhalations.

It turns its head to look at Kaito and roars. "Shit, there goes that idea," he says as he flies away from another bolt of lightning. Thinking that his cyborg companion may have some bombs or something, he reaches back and searches the cyborg's beltline. He finds something and grabs it, holding it out to inspect. It's some kind of handle with a button.

Upon pressing a button, a green blade about three feet long emerges, glowing and bright. Kaito's eyes widen. "Holy shit, you have a fucking LIGHTSABER?!" he says to the unresponsive cyborg. "Oh my god, this is it... my dream has come true. I can fly, shoot lightning, I have a lightsaber and I'm fighting a giant sandworm. I'm a goddamned Jedi on Dune."

He turns to face the death worm as it roars once more. He raises his plasma weapon up high and prepares to attack.

The worm screams and falls to the ground, writhing and wailing in pain as it twists and kicks up sand. Blood pours out of the wound and Kaito deactivates the lightsaber, putting it on his belt.

"Rest now, big maker," he says to the dying worm before flying off.

Kaito manages to fly into the desert, but night is fast approaching and carrying the cyborg is far too strenuous to make it all the way back. He decides he needs rest.

He lands in an ancient destroyed town, likely belonging to a lost realm long ago conquered and absorbed into Outworld. As Kaito takes shelter in an old building, he finds a safe place to lay the cyborg down while he rests.

"Don't worry, buddy... I'll get you out of here yet. Just don't quit on me, because I'm not quitting on you."

Kaito sits back against a stone wall and tries to get comfortable. He closes his eyes and breathes a little easier.

When he opens his eyes, he finds two axe-headed polearms pointed at his throat. He follows them up to find two women warriors he does not recognize staring down at him with stern eyes. He slowly holds up his hands.

"Ladies... I'm sure this is all a big misunderstanding."

He grabs the weapon and charges it, shocking the girl holding it and causing her to let go and fall back, accidentally knocking her friend down with her. Kaito gets up to his feet and barely has time to dodge a swing from a short-haired woman. He takes a few steps back as she advances to swing again, but this time he teleports behind her and kicks her to the ground.

As the three of them pick themselves up, he prepares to speak but is cut off when he hears something flying towards his head. He ducks as a triple-bladed razor boomerang flies towards him, then back to the hand of its thrower. He turns around and prepares to fight, but is stopped when he sees who it is.

Her green leotard is torn in some places, and her hair is braided and she wears a green headband with no veil, but the dark skin, emerald gems adorning her, the metal bo staff and her brilliant green eyes are unmistakable, as is her beauty.

"Jade...?" he says.

"Who is Jade?" she asks, before attacking him again. She twirls her staff and swings at his head, but he ducks, accidentally opening himself up for a kick. The strong edenian knocks him onto his back and holds the spear end of her staff up to his throat.

"Jade..." He remembers what Reptile said; her memories were gone, stolen by Shang Tsung and she was sent to the Amazons in the south.

The other three amazons approach. "Good work, sister," one tells her. "Now finish him off!"

"We should take him to Zara," Jade says. "She will judge him."

Kaito rolls his eyes and teleports out from beneath her with a crack of lightning. He teleports a short distance away Before pointing at her.

"Jade, I don't have the time for this. So let's settle this through Mortal Kombat. I challenge you!"

The other Amazons stare at her expectantly. She spits on the ground and twirls her staff in one hand as she looks him in the eyes.

"I accept your challenge."

The amazons watch as they circle each other. Kaito knows that he has to try to make this quick.

Jade seems to be waiting for him to make the first move. He readies himself and stares at her bo staff, remembering the lightsaber at his hip.

Kaito opens with a thunderclap flash that takes Jade by surprise. He quickly closes the distance and dodges her blind attack by ducking low under her staff and popping up to deliver a devastating electro-backhand to the side of her face. She falls back and swings her bo, managing to trip him. Kaito rolls to the side and gets up on his feets as Jade rubs her cheek and flips up. Shaking her head, her vision returns as she takes out her bladed projectile and throws it.

As long as Taruna is saved, and Mileena doesn't die or go full irredeemable mode I'll call it a win. It'd be nice to know how much slower he's making us though. Apparently the sun is setting. So, the trip out here couldn't have taken more than half a day since our return trip started a bit ago. But where are we compared to the Kove?
>>
>>42064841
It's kind of a deja-vu really. I recon we missed the second tournament because we were running around to save Turana, Tortek, and Sub-Zero.

But I would make the same choices again, my only regret is not getting to party with the others.
>>
>>42064990
Killing Shao Khan would have been nice too.
>>
>>42065012
We're working on it, maybe we just missout on the Black Dragon bits. Maybe if they chase stragglers into the capital we use it as a distraction to bust into the palace and punch Shao Kahn's face so hard the Elder Gods wouldn't recognize him.
>>
>>42065083
Ipmlying Sonya doesn't get kidnapped again in the process
>>
>>42065111
Well then when the palace crosses the dimesional barrier and Kahn goes for a victory lap we'll tackle him in the middle of Times Square and open with a red lightning combo that bleeds into BRUTALITY levels.
>>
Alright, I'm back home.

>>42064462

Kaito ducks under the boomerang and blasts it with lightning, attempting to give it a stunning charge. She leaps several feet into the air and lands behind him, kicking him in the back as she purposefully does not catch her boomerang, allowing it instead to fly into a nearby wall and get stuck in the stone there. She then swings her bo again and trips Kaito, knocking his feet out from under him before leaping up and stabbing down at him; however he rolls away and watches as the spear is embedded in the sand.

>>42064483

Kaito flies up into the air as fast as he is able, charging up his lightning as he goes. Jade looks up and sees him do this and she prepares to block his next attack; in a surprising move, he instead teleports behind her to attempt to blast her there instead. She had anticipated an attack from behind, however, and the trained edenian assassin swings her bo and smashes him in the face, causing him to miss with his attack. His lightning soars past her and hits a nearby building, demolishing it.

>>42064622

Kaito throws caution to the wind and flies at her from the ground, delivering a brutal flying bloody fist style attack. He lands several punches on her gut as he forces her backwards until she is up against a wall. She attempts to bring up a knee to hit him in the gut, but he blocks it and continues unleashing the full fury of the bloody hands. Soon his hands are indeed wet with her blood as he punches her again and again and again.

He stands back as she stumbles forward, attempting to hit him with her staff. He catches it and twirls it around, using it to knock her out cold.

The Amazons are furious, but they know the rules of honorable combat. "Finish her! Finish her!" they shout.

>A) Leave her here; you cannot carry both her and the cyborg back
>B) Attempt to carry both of them back
>C) Demand that the Amazons take you to their leader
>>
>>42065316
"Allright people you don't know me yet. I'm Akayama Kaito, and one of my rules is that I don't kill unless really necessary.

>>
>>42065316
>ask for water to heal her wounds.
>then "Take me to your leader!"
>>
>>42065351
Definitley seconding the water. But do the amazons hate Shao Kahn enough to help us, or maybe even Earthrealm? Otherwise this is just waste of time we can't afford.
We can come back to collect Jade and hit on the amazons when Turana is not a prisoner, we aren't dragging a dying cyborg, and Earth isn't under attack
>>
>>42065316
>>C) Demand that the Amazons take you to their leader
Time to put on the charms. Also we should probably contact raiden about this if we can.
>>
>>42065316
D
Water for her wounds, water for cyrax (same jug ladies), and we go from there. But maybe C. I'd like for a life debt here, but asking for transport might do as well. We just have to explain we were just resting and transporting an injured guy with the sort of injury a friend has.
We wanted zero trouble.
>>

>>
>>42065432
>>42065316

>>
Guys

GUYS

Khameleon might be gone or in trouble
We're already behind schedule from helping Cyrax
Jade will (maybe) be okay if we just leave her here for now and promise to come get her later

If we go and meet their leader and possibly get captured if there are way more Amazons (snoo snoo not withstanding) then we seriously don't have the time to save Turana, we don't know how long until Shao Kahn starts his master plan

Like I get that we're making good guy choices and all but seriously we need to clutch this one out and get back in time to save our sphinxfu

We promised her, you guys
>>
>>42065452
Then vote for D to make up for lost time or ditch Cyrax.
>>
>>42065452
Yes, some sort of transport would really come handy, apparently the ability to fly is designed for personal use only.
We aren't staying for amazon hospitality if that means loss of time, only if that means a transport, and reinforcements.
>>
>>42065490
(cont.) so we better ask them, and proceed depending on the answer.
>>
>>42065490
>>42065452
We ask for transport or a promise that our friends will be kept safe here, until we can comeback after rescuing turana.
>>
>>42065527
This sounds the most sensible.
>>
Kaito looks at the amazons. "I'm not killing her, so you can go ahead and stop chanting. I'm Akayama Kaito, and I don't kill unless it's necessary or unless you happen to be standing next to a pool of acid. Now then... I need water."

"And just why should we give it to you?" one of them asks.

"Because unless you want what I did to her to happen to you, you'll bring me a jug of water."

They look at each other before one of them fetches a jug. Kaito uses the power gained from the woman of water and controls it to wash over Jade's wounds as he infuses it with healing properties.

One of the amazons scoots closer. "You are a strong warrior. You must fight for Shao Kahn."

Kaito is about to deny it, but then stops himself. "And who do you fight for?" he asks.

The other Amazons do not like that she is speaking to you, but she continues. "Our leader, Zara, has pledged herself to Shao Kahn. She plans on capturing Kitana for him."

"Really... Well, I'll be sure to tell my master Kahn all about it when I return to his fortress. But as you can see, my companion is wounded and his... armor makes him very heavy. I require transport."

The Amazon's eyes brighten. "And if we do this, will you tell Shao Kahn to reward us?"

Kaito smiles and nods. "Oh yes, Shao Kahn will be most pleased with your efforts."

She immediately runs off to fetch Kaito faster transport. Beneath him, Jade stirs and opens her eyes. "What... You..."

"Hello," he says with a smile. "Feeling better?"

She rolls away and gets into a crouching combat position, ready to fight back. "There's no need for that," Kaito says. "I beat you."

She blinks a few times. "Then... then why heal me? You declared Mortal Kombat, you should kill me for losing."

"Why do that when there are better alternatives?"

She narrows her eyes in anger. "You claim the right of service, then? A debt I must pay?"

>A) No, I only ask for free passage

"I'd like it if we could be friends though, in my experience people with interesting fighting styles tend to be interesting people...would you be okay with me choosing right of service?"
>>
I feel like there are a lot of ptential hilariousness in messing with the amazons, but we can't afford to do that now.

If the transport can carry both of us, we should take Cryax. Now that they know our name, it's only a matter of time till their leader realizes who we are. It's not a good idea to leave him like that.

"I never wanted any trouble to begin with. I just wanted free passage, which I will accept as my winning condition."

She stays still, but then stands after a moment. "Very well. I don't like the fact that I lost, but I will not be a coward and deny it, nor will I attempt to kill you again on this day. But if we meet again..."

"We will, trust me," Kaito tells her. "You may not know it yet, but your memory was erased and your name is Jade."

"My name is Mantis, and I serve Zara," she insists.

Kaito sighs. "I don't have a way to restore your memory yet, but I'll find a way. Or someone will. But you won't be Mantis forever. You were Jade for thousands of years, and you'll be Jade again."

She gives him a strange look. "You are confusing me for someone else."

Kaito decides there is little reasoning with her. "You're probably right," he says. "Good luck, Mantis. Stay alive until we get a chance to fight again. It's a dangerous time."

One of the Amazons, the one Kaito had spoken to previously, comes around the bend with a large dinosaur mount. The large reptile's mouth is muzzled and its feet are wide and flat, with claws on its fingers and toes. Kaito's eyes widen.

"Here it is," she says. "It will carry you swiftly across Outworld."

He can hardly believe what he is seeing. A goddamned dinosaur, albeit of an Outworld variety. The beast is already saddled and ready to go.

Kaito touches its rough hide and smiles. Today, he got both a lightsaber and a chance to ride a dinosaur.

His life is that much more complete.

"Does he have a name?" he asks her.

"Xos," she replies.

Placing the cyborg on the dinosaur's back, he climbs up and prepares to head north. He gives Jade one final look before taking off, storming across the plains. Xos growls beneath his muzzle as Kaito shouts from the sheer high of the moment.

"Ya! Ya! Get along there, dinosaur! Ya!" Kaito says as he has the time of his life. Xos grumbles as he makes his way up the coastline, returning once more to the Kove. He pulls up to find Johnny and Kenshi there, but still no Khameleon.

"No way," Kenshi says as he looks at the dinosaur.

"I need that for my next movie," Johnny says, dumbfounded.

Kaito rears the dinosaur's head up and shows it off before climbing off himself and tying the dinosaur down to a nearby rock and petting his head. Xos shakes his head and snarls a bit, but is otherwise unhostile.

Kaito takes the cyborg off and has Kenshi help take him to the boat. Once inside, they ensure he is comfortable and close the door. Kenshi asks all that he has seen and done; Kaito explains it all: the cyborg, the death worm, the lightsaber and the Amazons (leaving out the detail of Jade--for now.)

He takes out the lightsaber and shows it to them. Kenshi and Johnny are both again blown away.

"I need that for the movie after my next movie," Johnny tells him. "I might need the dinosaur for that one, too."

"You are not a Jedi yet," Kaito jokes back. He walks over to Johnny. "So, Khameleon still isn't back?"

"She left hours ago and said she was just going to scout around... either she left us, or something happened to her."

Kaito finds himself worrying about her. What if something happened? Or what if she truly did go off on her own without them? What could she be planning if so?

"Well... We can't wait for her," he says. "If something did happen to her, she's likely not coming back. And if she did leave us, she's definitely not coming back."

Kenshi pauses his swings of the lightsaber. "You don't think she sold us out, do you? What if it's a trap?"

"She hates Shao Kahn... what would she gain by selling us out to him? No... I have to believe she wouldn't," he says. "We need to focus on the mission. We're already behind schedule."

Johnny nods. "Right! So, what's the plan?"

"Turana will be by Shao Kahn. We find the big man, we find Turana. We get her out and get back to the boat before he can stop us."

Kenshi turns off the green blade. "So how do we get into that big fortress? You got a plan?"

Under the cover of darkness, they make their way to the city. Carefully picking their way through the marketplace (and avoiding any cowboy-looking silhouettes) they reach the same pipes that Khameleon led them out of that lead to the Dead Pool. Once inside, they make their way into Shao Kahn's fortress.

They stop at the Dead Pool after checking to make sure that nobody is here before working out a plan.

"So, do we split up?" Johnny asks.

"Really? Why would you ask that question?" Kaito replies.

Kaito leads them through the fortress, sneaking around each corner and through every hallway, carefully avoiding any guards... of which there seem to be none. He looks around but doesn't find a single soul. He travels to Kitana's room, which has been appropriated by Mileena, but finds it to be just as empty. He searches it briefly, finding no items of consequence or evidence as to where she might have gone, before looking out of her balcony at the arena, which is equally empty and doubly as strange, since it is almost always bustling with activity.

'What the hell is going on?' he thinks to himself.

From the balcony, Kaito looks up and begins to see a storm gathering over Shao Kahn's fortress; black clouds swirling overhead and lightning striking. The wind picks up and the normally dark and purple sky grows even darker.

"I've got a baaad feeling about this," Johnny says as he looks up.

Kaito hears a chanting sound then, coming from below. It begins to grow louder, and he sneaks out of Kitana's room and towards the source of the noise. He realizes they are getting closer and closer to the throne room.

Kaito, Kenshi and Johnny peak around a dark corner and find themselves staring at a terrible sight. All of the guards not committed to the invasion are in this room, along with several of Outworld's elite warriors, and Shao Kahn himself. Quan Chi is once more behind a black podium, just like he was at the wedding. Behind him are Scorpion and Noob Saibot, along with a host of shadow priests and other dark incanters as he performs the most terrifying ritualistic ceremony of all: marriage.

Kaito looks at the woman standing next to Shao Kahn. She has long hair, black with white streaks, and wears a royal outfit. He doesn't know shoe she is, but she fills him with a sense of great dread. And chained to Shao Kahn's throne behind the podium is Turana.

The others look to Kaito to see what he decides to do. But he isn't sure that he can stop this wedding from happening...

I'd be down for it if I thought it'd work. Dude did invite us to his last wedding after all. He held the ceremony up until we got there. It was polite.
We should talk him out of trying again so soon after Sonya though. He needs time to heal.
Or will when we're done with him if he doesn't calm down.
Clearly our invite got lost in the mail.

No he didnt he had shokan bouncers try an keep us out

Part of me really wants Kaito to beat Shao Kahn. But another part of me screams that it would be a bit much if we kept pushing this quest's main character as better than everyone in the universe. We've only lost a few fights, and I know we hate to fail, but I can't help but feel that it would make the story lose some of its validity from a narrative perspective if Kaito ends up being more powerful than Liu Kang.

Then again, even Liu lost to the Deadly Alliance so maybe power levels are bullshit.

Well we did get at least 3 accidental diety facetime moments. The worst of which was neutral when we accidentally crashed a meeting.
But power levels are mostly bullshit. We have something over Liu though, we're willing to fight dirty and don't wince at it.
Two things if you count not having a stick up our collective ass.

Oh, and somehow we seem to be less likely to judge based on appearance if Tortek, Mileena, and Taruna are any indication.

Kaito had huge help with most of his victories.
Goro would have killed us without Meat
Baraka was tag teamed with Tortek.

I don't plan on taking Shao alone either, we needed considerable backup with Sang Tsun as well. This time I'm just planning to be part of the final battle.

>That "thing" is still with you?
>That "thing" saved my life on numerous occasions, so shut up.

My only regret is that every time Shang Tsung voiced his annoyance with Kaito, he didn't point out that Shang Tsung invited him to begin with.

Also I like to think we'll be BFFs with Meat, in a wandering 'when we cross paths' sort of way.

Somebody do me a favor and archive this thread. I'm stuck out of the office and last time I tried to do it by phone (thread #6) it didn't work right. Thanks.

I hate to say this, but if I'm the only one here, I have the same problem and no idea how to archive from this phone.

Thank you, Anon.

A special kiss from Mileena for you.
