Welcome back to Mortal Kombat Konquest (Yes, a Quest), an adventure that will span the realms and incorporates many aspects of Mortal Kombat canon, from the games to the films to the comics and more.

Dark times have befallen all of Earthrealm. A massive soulnado has been summoned in the vicinity of New York that is draining every soul, collecting them as fuel for the Emperor, Shao Kahn. As every human being falls prey to this sinister force, our heroes come together in the ruins of St. Patrick's Cathedral to plan the final assault on Shao Kahn's fortress. The soulnado must be dealt with first, however, before Shao Kahn can fall.

Our story continues now.

Kaito floats down to the ground alongside Raiden and Fujin. The other defenders all gather around, now fewer in number, as some of their own have been absorbed into the soulnado. Kaito cannot shake the fear that his own mother, whom he thought safe in a bunker back in Japan, is now most likely nothing more than a green blur whirring around the inside of the massive green vortex.

"We need to destroy it," Kaito says. "We need to destroy it now!"

"Patience," Raiden advises. "We cannot merely destroy the soulnado. We must reverse it and undo the spell binding the souls in order to restore them to mortal life."

"Would killing Shao Kahn stop it?" Liu Kang asks.

"Possibly," Raiden replies. "It is ancient and dark magic, and I shudder to think what his plans for it may be..."

"Quan Chi is the one who created it," Fujin says. "It must be. The Emperor has not left his fortress since it arrived in Earthrealm."

"The soulnado will be protected," Kitana points out. "Whomever we send will need help."

Kotal nods. "I agree. We should form two assaults; one will go after the soulnado, and one will go after Shao Kahn in his fortress and try to end the invasion once and for all."

Liu Kang steps forth. "I will lead the attack on Shao Kahn."

Raiden nods. "I agree." He then turns to Kaito. "Kaito, I would like you to lead the attack on the soulnado."

>A) Agree
>B) Disagree, join the attack on the fortress
>C) Go on the Soulnado mission but volunteer someone else as the leader

Kaito looks up at the green swirling vortex in the sky. "Alright. I'll do it. I'll need some help, though."

Kenshi manages to stand up. "I'll go."

"Kenshi," Kaito begins, "you don't have to. You've done more than enough. If you need rest--"

He holds up the green glowing blade. "I'll rest when the bastards invading my world are dead, and as for the one who took my eyes... he'll wish he was dead."

Kung Lao looks at Liu. "I will go with Kaito," he says. "He may need my help." Lao's fellow shaolin nods and they clasp hands.

"And I," Sub-Zero says, and Smoke and Sareena quickly volunteer alongside him. He turns to Smoke. "No, Smoke. You should assault the fortress." The grey ninja nods, not arguing with his friend.

Sonya rises from the ground. She had been kneeling where her former teammates had been standing. "I'm not going to let this stand," she says. "Nobody messes with my team."

Jax and Johnny Cage stand behind her, ready to help.

Nightwolf stands forward. "I may be able to dispel the soulnado, if I am given enough time to perform the ritual."

Sheeva moves to stand near the group forming around Kaito. "And I will go with you as well. I have a life-debt to pay you still."

Father O'Reilly looks at Kaito. "You're the only one here I know. Don't leave me with these circus freaks. I'm coming' with you."

>Johnny Cage
>Sonya Blade
>Jax
>Kung Lao
>Father O'Reilly
>Kenshi
>Sub-Zero
>Sareena
>Sheeva
>Nightwolf

Raiden looks at them. "This will split our forces roughly in half. Myself and Fujin will accompany the team attacking the fortress to help keep Shao Kahn's armies at bay from reaching the soulnado to support whatever you encounter there." Alongside Liu Kang is Kitana, Smoke, Stryker, Kabal, Asgaarth, Rain, Jagara, Kotal and Tanya.

>How do you feel about this arrangement for the mission? Should we drop anyone? Trade anyone?

>>42165579
See no problem here.
The others will take on Shao Kahn in the meantime, or wait for us for the final push?

>>42165644
I think it's best if they stay together with Kitana. We need to thing in teams too, not just individuals

Kaito looks at his team. "We can do this," he says. "Liu, Raiden; will you wait for us to get rid of the soulnado before making the final push?"

"Shao Kahn's fortress will be well-protected by now," Raiden replies. "We will keep the armies at bay, but until that soulnado is gone, Shao Kahn will feed off of it and only grow stronger. He will be impossible to defeat in combat."

"I defeated Shang Tsung by overloading him with a soulnado's power once," Kaito says. "Can we do the same to him?"

Raiden shakes his head. "I'm afraid Shao Kahn is much more powerful than Shang Tsung in the dark arts and much more careful with souls. He would not make such an error."

Liu looks at Kitana and Kaito. "I am ready. Lord Raiden?"

"We will leave momentarily," Raiden replies. "Everyone, make any final preparations. We move out in several minutes."

>A) Talk to Raiden about what he said earlier, about him being glad Kaito was still on their side
>B) Talk to Kitana and ask her how she feels about the resurrection of her mother
>C) Talk to Liu Kang and his plan for defeating the Emperor
>D) Talk to Nightwolf and ask about how he plans to dispel the soulnado

That thing needs to go down ASAP we should anything we can to support that.
>>
>>42165904
Mention Raiden that Turana studied Shang Tsun's work, and successfully dispelled his soulnado. So if the other team sees an opportunity to free her, she might be able to help.

Offer our consolation to Kitana. We'll have a proper talk with Raiden if we survive.
>>
>>42165942

Also ask Nightwolf what would happen with the souls, can we reverse the effects, and if he needs something. Maybe Kenshi could help, being a psychic, and apparently immune to soulnados

Kaito approaches Kitana. "Are you going to be alright?" he asks.

"Yes... I think so. I know not what Shao Kahn has done to my mother, but if she willingly consented to marry him... she is not herself. She took her own life thousands of years ago to escape from his cruelty..."

Kaito places a hand on her shoulder. "Be careful, Kitana. Mileena and Sindel are both unpredictable, and they're both going to be where you're going. And watch out for Khameleon... I'm hoping she comes through for us, but still."

She nods and parts from him to plan the assault with her team. Raiden approaches Kaito. "Turana once helped dispel a soulnado in Shang Tsung's palace," he tells the thunder god. "She studied Shang Tsung's sorcery books. If there's a chance to save her, take it. We need all the help we can get."

Raiden nods and Nightwolf walks up to them. Kaito turns to him. "So, how are we going to get rid of that thing?" he asks the shaman.

"I know a ritual, but I cannot guarantee it's effectiveness. I have never performed it upon a font of evil this great. It may require some time."

"Is there anything we'll be able to do to help?" he asks.

"Buy me that time," Nightwolf replies.

"What do you think we'll find when we get there?" he asks Raiden.

"Likely, Quan Chi and his servants," Raiden replies. "Once Shao Kahn knows we are attacking the soulnado, he will send reinforcements. We will stop them, and if possible, break through to the fortress. When you dispel the soulnado, make haste to the fortress to join us. I have no doubt that it will be the greatest battle of this invasion... possibly the last one."

>A) Get ready to move out with your team
>B) Pull Raiden aside and talk to him in private
>C) Saddle up Xos and get ready to ride him
>>
>>42166111

And I forgot to mention it at the end of last thread, but the prisoners from the Black Dragon, No-Face and Tasia, were sucked into the soulnado as well. Just clearing up that loose end.
>>
>>42166111
>>B) Pull Raiden aside and talk to him in private
If I live through this you're telling me everything I want to know about what you know.

It's time Raiden told us about our self, all we know is that we can use red lightning basically.
>>
>>42166111
>A) Get ready to move out with your team
As much as I love the dinosaur ride into battle, we are faster with the cape, and we need to remain hidden as long as we can, so Shao's reinforcements arrive late as well

>A) Get ready to move out with your team

>>42166111
>A)
>>
>>42166174
Yes but it's hardly inconspicuous. The later we are detected the later Shao Kahn's reinforcements are sent out.
I would vote for it if we still had the army of undead to worry about.
Maybe we should let someone else ride Xos from the other team. Maybe Asgaarth?
>>
>>42166209
that's a good idea, let asgaarth have the dino, they'll probably have to fight mooks
>>
>>42166228
or Kotal. We know the guy can handle them well.
I just thought of Asgaarth first because he is more squishy compared to the others.
>>
>>42166142
>>42166142
We know of a legend that says once a warrior challanged Raiden because "there should be only one warrior of lightning and thunder".
He lost, and his blood rained down on the Earth, driving people to madness. Some survived unharmed, carrying the potential.
Few were able to use it throwing lightning, and we know of nobody who mastered, using the red lightning. Which if I recall correctly works on pure rage.
>>
>>42166111
Oh one last minute preparation; we should get a flask of water and carry it with us
>>

Kaito gathers his team, along with a flask of water, just in case. He leaves Xos in the capable hands of Kotal, an experienced dino-rider. Raiden has them stand in the center of the church.

"I will transport you all to the outskirts of the soulnado. The dark magic in the area prevents me from directly transferring you to the site itself. Be on your guard."

They all prepare as Raiden holds up his hands. The thunder god gives Kaito a final look, a strange one, before clasping them together and sending them off in a surge of white light. They streak across the ruined landscape of New York and find themselves outside of a massive field of hedgestones.

"I know this place," Sonya says. "This is Calvary Cemetery... The largest cemetery in the country."

O'Reilly nods. "Over three million are buried here."

Johnny looks around at the massive, swirling soulnado. "Think it's a coincidence?"

"Never," Kaito says. "I bet someone is planning on doing something with all those corpses."

They move in through the gate, passing by broken tombstones, old statues and scorched patches of earth. In the distance, the destroyed city of New York looms, its buildings devoid of life and scarred, now merely nesting grounds for dragons and other vile monsters from Outworld.

"We must be cautious," Sareena warns. "A soulnado of this magnitude will tear apart any living soul thrown within. Do not move too closely to it, lest the damned pull you in with them."

"Peachy," Johnny says. "I'm used to people trying to get their hands all over me, but they're usually alive."

"Cage," Sonya deadpans, reminding him of how serious it is.

"I said 'usually' alive. I've fought zombies today."

>A) Approach the soulnado as a group
We are the spearhead.
Nightwolf is the key package here. We lose him, no one else can stop the Soulnado, so he is in the middle
Kenshi and Sheva remains close to him, since Kenshi is the hardest to ambush, and the shokan are good at keeping hands on things.
Sereena, Sub-Zero on the back. Her Assassin training can guard against ambushes best.
The others around the premiter
>>
>>42166683
Or maybe send Sereena off to be around silently, and offer a counter ambush. Help me out here guys
>>

ah jeez, I already regret not choosing to talk with raiden

>>
>>42166856

Plus they are going to have to fight through some nooks before any of the important people enter the fight. So we got a window of opportunity to get there after this bitch goes down.

I dunno, most people don't react to fear by getting buff.
Either way, I think we can all agree on 2 things.
Our goal is not to match him in Kombat.
We probably can't climb that high.
But what we can do is drag the tyrannical son of a bitch down into the muck with the rest of the mortals he looks down on.
And drown him in it.
Freedom is the right of all sentient beings after all, and those that abuse theirs in such a fashion have to pay a price.
>>
>>42170587

I want to unleash the Turana on him, she's probably got some great magic now.
>>
>>42170587
Well if this isn't the time to go out and use our abilities to the maximum, then I don't know what is.
As for fear; Skullnan the Barbarian, counqeror of realms and master genocider, isn't like most people. Fear is one hell of a power up. It's the reason it remained with most spieces during evolution; On early stages, it pumps enough adrenaline into the subject to fight beyond most injuries.
>>
>>42170772
>>42170587

and, yes we aren't taking him on mano-a-mano if we can help it, but I don't want to run away if it comes to that either

So if Kaito dies and we can bullshit getting wraith'd or demon'd, what do you guys think for powers?
Possession(allows us to chain combos with "stop hitting yourself, stop hitting yourself", and maybe using ourselves as a projectile after a fashion.), temporary invincibility by phasing through attacks/being in slightly the wrong dimension at the right time?
>>
>>42172335
Well I for one would prefer being able to go intangible like a ghost
>>
>>42172335
Imply we wont have like half the earth realm defenders makeing a case to revive Kiato.
>>
>>42172335
I vote zombie
Oh I know we get that when Turana tries an fails to resurrect us
>>
>>42172370
Theoretically both of the things I mentioned could be outgrowths of doing that for extended periods or work up to it depending.
Granted demon Kaito wouldn't be anywhere close to Kaito Klassic, wraiths at least have their memories intact.
Still, being a demon isn't a bad deal, you respawn but are closer to live than a wraith is.
We wouldn't even have to be anybody's bitch necessarily.
If Damashi goes off the normal version of the Netherrealm, it's a weird place. Sometimes it just does things of it's own accord, like make demons or wraiths, which no other realm really does.

At least I swear that's what I remember reading forever ago.
>>
>>42172395
I think if one of the Sorcerers gets hold of our souls, there is not much the Elder Gods can do directly.

>>42172335
Well, with the red lightning; the ability to go drive others into a berserk stage, animate corpses Frankeinstein-style with lightning,
Blood bending with our unholy water powers
>>
>>42172564
You have to be especially angry or evil or vengeful to transform into a demon or undead with new powers on your own, though.

We're a good guy, our soul shouldn't even belong in the Netherealm, so if we end up there when we die because of some bullshit deal between Quan Chi and Kahn then Kaito would end up one of the generic gray skin and yellow veins revenants.
>>
>>42172564
>>42172572
We'd probably still end up Paragon, Kaito is a very nice guy.
>>
>>42172335
Can we get Zombie Liu Kang's chains?
>>
>>42172638
Can we stop planning for death, maybe?

I feel like if I was Damashi and read all this, I'd be going "Oh, they want to be zombies? Well then I'll stop having Meat pop up to save them when they roll low."
>>
>>42172608
For the time being, I feel like we're especially angry and vengeful, just at the guy trying to move into our house without our permission who's holding one of our best friends captive. Also, he's like the opposite of what we stand for.
Nobody ever said angry or vengeful didn't come in different flavors.
But nobody said those flavors mattered.
>>
>>42172701
Hey man, I'm cool wherever the story goes
>>
>>42172701
I feel like he'd get these are "what if"s and not hopes. Best to be prepared for whatever may come anon.>>42172709
>>
>>42172709
Your anger has to be special. The rage and pain has to be your whole identity. to end up like Drahmin or Scorpion or Noob Saibot.
>>
>>42172615
Sure we would be. But the question was for being a demon.
That being said, I like Kaito the way he is so we better try to preserve ourselves.
>>
>>42172793
>Implying there aren't things that could happen to push us that way.
Did I mention we get bonuses for doing so?
Because our trump card is basically hating people to death.
>>
>>42172849
We're Goku. We may get so mad we go super when our friends die, but we still stop and try to make friends with people like Mileena and Rain.

Scorpion doesn't have that option in his personality. Noob Saibot arguably didn't even love his brother when he was still alive. There's a depravity involved in willingly transforming into a being whose essence FITS IN with the environment of Hell itself, the realm where all spirits of evil are either born or go when they die.
>>
>>42172843
Me too. I'm quite happy with things as they are myself. I was just kind of mulling things over in an attempt to point out that if something did happen we could simultaneously reroll and continue Kaito's story from another perspective and have it be legit in universe.

I don't want things to go badly.
But if they do, if we basically went with Nether!Kaito for backstory, we need to get in a fist fight with a Quan Chi controlled Revenant Kaito.
>>
>>42172925
>>42172793
Dude here>>42172849 is right. the Red Lighning is rage and hatered. We don't know what could that do to Kaito's soul if he dies.
We better not try to find out anyways.
>>
>>42172964
I feel like whatever "evil" there is associated with the red lightning is a case of "it takes over and you lose control", not "you choose it".

You have to choose it to become a demon.
>>
>>42172995
We've intentionally activated it more than a few times.
>>
>>42173032
Some of those times we weren't actually all that mad, though.

I mean when we wrecked Shang's place, yeah, we're fighting the guy who killed our dad...but that rescue in the Arena? Not exactly consumed with bloodlust.
>>
>>42172995
I believe you are right. However I don't think it's unimaginable to make that choice if we are confronted with death.
Really depends on the situation.
>>
>>42173058
Nah, just surrounded by gore, senseless wastes of life and examples of depravity, topped off by one of our best friends bound, gagged and treated at best like a whipped dog.
Totally calm, we were about to ask Shao to come to brunch with us to discuss things even. Still, yeah, we weren't.
So we chose to focus on hating him until we were.
>>
Here's the thing. I think if we die, the example we should look to as to what to expect is not someone whose anger made them awesome like Scorpion.

It's Smoke.

Smoke was ALREADY a demon, the origin of his powers is that he was sacrificed by a cult as a teenager and a smoke monster called an "enenra" came back in his body and has been living his life ever since, but he didn't know it 'cause he had amnesia.

When he died and went to Hell, he did not end up a "cool" demon like Scorpion of Noob.

He can TALK about realizing his true nature as an enenra all he wants, but he's still just another yellow-veined revenent under mind control.

Why? Because he was a hero.

Before Scorpion died, he was an assassin. He believed in honor, he had a loving family...but his whole life was killing for money, he never did good in the world. his soul was tainted as fuck.

Same with Bi-Han except he didn't even believe in honor or have a family, he was merciless and a cocky douche to boot.

Drahmin was a Mongolian-esque warlord before he died and became an Oni.

We ain't got that. We've got what Smoke's got.

>>42172849 hi. Me here, I'd just like to say that I don't want these things to happen but it's important to discuss them I feel.
Yes, Kaito is fundamentally a good man. And I like him as is. But so was Hanzo in his own way. With the abilities we have we are walking a fine line, but that shouldn't stop us from pressing forward.
Still, while I may disagree, I like your more optimistic approach better I think.
I hope our wannabe xia/not Liu Kang gets something approaching a happy ending.
In it's own way, my little deal here was meant to reassure everyone that whatever happed Kaito could work towards a happy ending no matter the outcomes ahead.

We'll just have to grit our teeth if it comes to it.
>>
>>42173517
I think my happy ending for kaito would be him roaming outworld. That was where he had the most fun really, he could become the guardian of outworld and help keep the peace in his travels.

I feel like the important thing to remember is that rage is just a tool. It's not inherently evil.

It's what you do with your rage that leads to ending up like Scorpion/Noob/Drahmin. They committed more sins than good deeds before they died.

Do we want to prove Raiden right about the power being inherently evil, or do we want to take our anger and shove it down Shao Kahn's throat?

I myself want to push our limits of Red Lightning and shove it down his throat.

Kaito takes the lead, with Nightwolf in the center. Kenshi and Sheeva remain close to him, with Sub-Zero and Sareena in the back. The others maintain the perimeter as they advance forwards.

"I sense a darkness," Kenshi says. "One I have not felt since we were in the fortress..."

Ahead of them, halfway to the soulnado, a black portal opens on the ground. Noob Saibot emerges, slowly rising from the black miasma with his arms crossed. Kaito's group stops. He looks at the netherrealm wraith with narrow eyes. "This guy again..." he mutters under his breath.

Sub-Zero pushes his way to the front. "I'll handle him."

"Are you sure?" Kaito asks.

"It's only right that I should," he replies. "He's my brother. Even if I cannot bring peace to his soul, I'm the one who should deal with him."

"It doesn't matter which of you steps forward to fail," Noob says. "In this place, you are surrounded by the dead." He holds out his arms as a dark portal opens from behind him and newly created revenants emerge. Kathy Lune, Bo and Sonya's team are among them. Their skin is dark and grey, with glowing yellow veins and burning eyes.

Sonya falters as she looks upon her dead team, brought back as slaves to the enemy's will. "N-no..." Johnny is quick to hold her close as the revenants look on.

Noob then lowers his hands as a burning circle appears on the ground. From the depths of hell then emerges three more revenants personally created by Quan Chi: Baraka, Goro and Gozen, Reiko's dead brother. The defenders watch these demonic versions of these formidable fighters burn into reality. Baraka's eyes glow with fire and his arm blades are black like obsidian, and Goro is much the same. He cracks all four sets of knuckles before his hands glow with hellfire. Gozen, his soul long ago compacted to the Brotherhood of Shadow, is more like a wraith similar to Noob, with glowing white eyes and dark skin and clothing.

>cont'd
>>
>>42176647

Noob then spreads his hands and several Brotherhood of Shadow assassins emerge from the shadows and other dark portals, including the three female assassins Kia, Jataaka and Ashrah. Other dark killers and wraiths are among them.

Finally, Quan Chi himself appears amidst a swirling cloud of green souls. "The mighty defenders of Earthrealm," he says as he looks upon them all with a smile. "How small they seem."

The revenants and undead laugh as the defenders get ready to attack. "You are pathetic, sorcerer!" Sheeva calls out. "Using the dead as a shield! You are too weak to fight on your own!"

"Silence yourself, traitor," Goro shouts at her. "You are not one to speak, standing amongst the weaklings of Earthrealm."

Nightwolf moves close to Kaito. "We are outnumbered, but I must reach that soulnado. It may be our only chance."

Kaito nods. "I'll cover you. Everyone, get ready."

The dead and the living begin to size each other up, everyone choosing their targets.

Quan Chi spreads his fingers and casts a spell. Dozens of souls from the nearby soulnado fly out, green streaks across a red sky, and into graves. Moments later, skeleton warriors emerge; weak and fodder but numerous. As he brings about a new army of the dead, Kaito decides that he has seen enough and charges in, leading them into battle.

Kaito leads the charge and runs in to attack Quan Chi. The sorcerer creates a green barrier of skulls that Kaito blasts his way through before kicking the white-skinned demon in the chest. Quan Chi turns and smashes Kaito with his fist, knocking him back a few steps.

All around them, Kaito's allies begin fighting the forces of the dead. The skeletons are an annoyance at best, as they grab and pull but are easily destroyed. Sheeva faces off against Goro while Sub-Zero fights Noob Saibot, brother against brother. Sareena finds herself battling her replacement on Quan Chi's dream team, Ashrah, as the two other assassins and the revenants battle the remainder of Kaito's team, except for Kung Lao, who is personally taking on Baraka. The tarkatan revenant had been the one to lead the attack on the Wu Shi Academy and had been responsible for the deaths of many of his friends, and Lao is perfectly content to deliver shaolin justice to him for it.

Kaito looks at Quan Chi as the sorcerer smiles. He then summons a pair of flaming bat-demons that fly at Kaito, screeching and ready to claw at him, but he blasts both into ash with two well-aimed lightning bolts.

As he does, Quan Chi portals behind him and smashes the back of his head with a green glowing skull. Kaito stumbles forward and turns around, ready to dish out some more pain.

Kaito flies up high, but Quan Chi creates a portal above him that he unwittingly flies straight into. He flies out the other end, near Quan Chi, who kicks him in the chest with a spinning back kick. Kaito flies back against a tombstone, but gets back up and runs back up to the sorcerer.

>>42177271
>>42177377

He lapses into his training with the bloody hands style and attempts to grab Quan Chi's wrists, but the elusive sorcerer is far more than magically talented, as he demonstrates through careful movement of his arms to block and divert each grappling attempt while also managing to punch Kaito in the face. Kaito's offensive style is systematically picked apart by Quan Chi's style of martial arts, a hybridization of Tang Soo Do and Escrima. Kaito relies on his speed to get a few hits in, but the majority are blocked.

>>42177287

Realizing that his bloody hands style alone will not break through Quan Chi's defense, he teleports behind him and attacks his backside. Kaito lands only a few hits before Quan Chi creates a portal on the ground and falls into it, appearing above Kaito to fall and punch the back of his head. Kaito rolls forward and turns. His opponent is clever and cruel, he cannot deny either.

Perhaps an element of unconventional combat is needed instead...

>>42177311

Kaito gets in close and spits in Quan Chi's eye, a move that takes the sorcerer completely by surprise. He punches Quan Chi in the face before sweeping hiss legs out from under him.

>>42177325

Quan Chi teleports away before Kaito can stun his opponent with lightning. Appearing out of another portal not far away, he launches a volley of green skull projectiles at Kaito, some of which he manages to dodge or block, but one hits him in the stomach and knocks him down.

Around them, the battle rages. Nightwolf manages to break through the enemy line to make it to the soulnado.

It's important to note that (in part) due to the diverging timeline of this quest, we're seeing Quan Chi in a pretty strong area. It may not be the peak of his potential, but he's riding high with a soulnado and has the support of both Shao Kahn and Shinnok right now, so he's no slouch. He got knocked out earlier, yes, that demonstrates he's not invincible.

In MKX, he was, I would argue, at his weakest. Remember how after Jax fought Liu Kang he just kind of sat up and seemed like an old man getting beaten up? (I know, I know, wanted to get captured and all, but still, even in the cutscene prior to the fight when Liu Kang was standing next to him, he was sitting down all haggard and tired.)

You know, I'm 19 threads into this and I don't think I ever really brought it up (so it might seem a little bit silly that I'm doing it now), but in addition to the actual rolling of the posts, I also take the post number into consideration. While I don't want to turn it into a game of trying to get dubs or trips, they do have a slight impact on the nature of the posts. I only started factoring it in about halfway through the game, and it hasn't been anything minor, but occasionally dubs or trips helps an action be slightly more successful. In this instance >>42177777 I will allow the quints to counteract the low number of 8, for example.

Just giving you guys a glimpse into some of the behind-the-scenes calculation that goes into how I write the fights.

>>42178096

That's actually an element of his character I'm a bit upset at myself for not exploring more deeply. In the very first thread his fear of falling too far into his own anger and rage was laid out and it's been in the pastebins ever since but I haven't really touched on it. I have plans for it, though.

Anyway, writing the next part.
>>
>>42178197
Question; do characters who we fight more than once, or see us fighting take note on our style?
For example Quan Chi has seen enough fight enough times so he would expect us to try a nutkick, giving him higher resistance?

I'm fine with dubs/trips/quints/whatever giving a roll boost, just don't get Ogre Quest with it. I love Ogre Quest with all my heart, but damn if they could never not crit succeed a roll.

Also, is that part of the reason that Raiden keeps giving us weird looks? That Kaito has a style based around fighting as dirty and brutal as possible while channeling anger and rage, but is the nicest fucker you'll ever meet and it confuses his Goodguy'O'meter?

Also, how did Father O'Reilly not get his soul taken? Is it all the liquor and potatoes?

Kaito gets back up to his feet as Quan Chi stalks forward, taking out a sword as he does. Kaito throws out an arm and hits him with a lightning bolt, stunning him for a moment, allowing the human to roll forward and deliver a lightning uppercut to Quan Chi's jaw. The sorcerer lands a few feet away but gets back up, rubbing his chin.

>>42177778

Kaito grits his teeth and charges up his power, unleashing it all in a full-power blast. Quan Chi creates another wall of green skulls, but the lightning eventually cracks enough of them to make it through and it blasts Quan Chi, frying him. Kaito advances upon him like Palpatine letting loose with Force Lightning on Luke Skywalker.

>>42177784
>>42177824

Kaito attempts to tackle Quan Chi, but ends up grappling him as they push against each other. They continue to exchange fists and kicks, with the sorcerer growing increasingly desperate. He throws Kaito back and takes a moment to breath.

Kaito looks through his legs and sees Nightwolf engaging in the ritual. He looks up and knows that Quan Chi will try to stop him if he sees. He has to keep him busy and distracted.

>>42177877

Kaito smirks at the demon. "You know, Shang tried the whole soulnado thing too. You're like a rehash of a rehash."

Quan Chi chuckles. "Shang Tsung was a fool who died a fool's death. I will not be so easily stopped. You know, Kaito, I must say... I am surprised Raiden agreed to send you here against me, knowing what he knows."

Kaito pauses. "What?"

"Oh, he hasn't told you? Perhaps it's because he still does not trust you fully. Or rather, what is inside of you."

Kaito looks down. "I don't--"

Quan Chi suddenly kicks Kaito in the face, knocking him back. He grabs the lightning warrior by the neck and holds him up. "I tire of this play," he says. "You will serve me in the Netherrealm!"

Suddenly, someone taps on Quan Chi's shoulder. The demon turns his head to see Father O'Reilly's brass knuckles flying into his face. The sorcerer lets go of Kaito as he looks at the priest before blasting him away with a green skull.

"Vermin..." he says as he turns to look back at Kaito.

The lightning warrior then tries something he has never tried before and charges up his fingers with electricity right before shoving them in his opponent's face, poking him in the eyes. What often serves only as a simple gag instead turns absolutely brutal as Kaito unleashes the power right into Quan Chi's eyeballs, causing them to explode in his sockets.

Nearby, Kenshi shudders.

Quan Chi screams in pain and grabs his face as blood runs down. Immediately, almost all of his servants turn to see what has happened to their master; several of them are taken advantage of in their moment of distraction and attacked by the defenders. Kaito watches as Quan Chi falls backwards, too greatly pained to create a portal to escape.

As Kaito looks up, he sees that Nightwolf needs more time. He turns around to find Goro tossing Sheeva into a stone mausoleum and blasts the revenant shokan in the back.

Goro turns around. "You," he says in a deep, rumbling voice. "You will pay for what you have done! I am Goro! I am the prince of the shokan! I am the greatest warrior in all of Outworld!"

"You were," Kaito reminds him. "Not after that acid bath I gave you."

Goro roars and charges in, his eyes and four hands burning with hellfire.

Kaito attempts to harry Goro with lightning and block his attacks, but the shokan prince seems unstoppable in this state, shrugging off attacks that would fell lesser beings. Sheeva fights back alongside Kaito, but they are both thrown aside within moments by the revenant.

"You cannot stop me," Goro says. "In life, I was held back. In death, I am a force of nature, a power to end all. I can break you in half! The only reason you live is because it amuses me!"

Kaito gets up and shakes his head. "No... Not this time..."

Goro smiles as he walks up and punches at Kaito. The human blocks each attack, striking at Goro's elbows, saving his energy for later. The shokan grows angry as his attacks are blocked by the human, who refuses to give any ground.

>>42179513

Then, Kaito surprises him by rolling to the side, picking up Quan Chi and throwing him at the shokan. Goro catches the sorcerer but Kaito leaps upwards and delivers several rapid punches to Goro's face before hitting the ground. The shokan drops the blind demon as Kaito runs over to a broken tombstone. He picks it up and teleports over Goro's head, using the momentum of his fall to slam it onto Goro's skull.

Kaito flips back and watches as the shokan staggers forward and falls.

Nearby, Sareena beats Ashrah into submission. Baraka, his arm-blades aflame, lunges at Kung Lao, who teleports behind him in a flurry of blue energy. The shaolin takes off his hat and holds it high, and when Baraka turns around, he brings it down upon Baraka's head and follows through all the way down.

Both halves of the tarkatan revenant, cut neatly down the middle, slide apart and fall onto the ground with wet thuds.

Sub-Zero blasts Noob Saibot with a cone of cold before tackling him to the ground. He slams his fists repeatedly into the wraith's face until he is stunned and unconscious. Sub-Zero rises up and unleashes the full power of his freezing power, turning Noob into a solid frozen corpse.

He lifts up a boot and brings it down, smashing the wraith into pieces.

Kaito looks on and sees Nightwolf, still performing the ritual. How much more time could he need?

"Kaito!" Sheeva suddenly shouts. He turns around as Goro rises up and takes hold of his neck.

"I have had enough of you!" Goro roars as he squeezes the human. Sheeva runs up to attack Goro, but he grabs her throat in another hand as well. He lifts them both up and delights as he begins to crush harder.

Suddenly, a fireball strikes Goro's back, causing him to drop both of his victims. He turns around, enraged, but that rage suddenly turns to confusion.

Another shokan is in the graveyard, one who looks much alike Goro, but older.

"Duroc... It cannot be..." Goro whispers.

The shokan brother lowers the hand that launched the fireball as, from behind him, walks out Rokuro. But it is not ended there, for behind them both a portal opens and out steps Breeti, the shokan mystic who, as Kaito keenly remembers, vanished with Duroc in the chamber of passage in Kuatan in search of Rokuro.

Breeti lifts her staff and slams its head upon the ground, widening the portal now that she is on the other side. It grows wide enough for a small army to emerge, and that is exactly what happens.

Yanake and the people of her homeland step through in battle-garb, armed with swords, spears, shields and more. Kaito can hardly believe his fortune as she commands the army to charge at the skeletons and Brotherhood assassins.

As their reinforcements join the battle, Duroc and Rokuro approach Goro, who is still dumfounded.

"You are dead," Goro says to Duroc. "I killed you..."

Duroc looks him up and down. "What happened to you, my brother? You were once so strong, so noble... You are a shadow of your former self, a corpse in service to a demon..."

Goro shakes his head. "No! I am the prince of the shokan! I am the strongest there is! You!" he points at Duroc, "You are weak! You had victory in your grasp, and you let me live! I took what was rightfully mine, my place as the strongest shokan in all of Kuatan!"

"There is more to strength than defeating your opponent, my brother," Duroc says. "A pity that in the five hundred years since our battle, you never learned humility or grace. Your place as Mortal Kombat's champion only causes your pride to swell and now... now, nothing of what you once were remains."

Goro roars and slams his fists against his chest. "Everything remains! My strength! My power! My rage! And I will finish what I started long ago!"

He leaps at Duroc, but Rokuro roars and tackles Goro out of the air, causing them both to crash through several tombstones. The son of Duroc lifts up his fists and pummels Goro in the face several times over before the revenant throws him off. Then Duroc jumps in, punching Goro to the ground once more. Goro attempts to fight back, but Sheeva leaps in and grabs all four of his arms and holds them behind his back. Goro struggles against the overwhelming odds, but Rokuro returns and kicks him in the chest before unleashing a beatdown on the bound shokan's face so powerful, so brutal, that Duroc must hold his son back. Rokuro breaks free from his father's grasp and continues, letting out all the rage and aggression he has held for centuries until Duroc ends it, stepping in front of his son. "That is alright, Rokuro. I will end this."

The son looks up at his father and nods, stepping aside to watch.

Goro, his face beaten and bloody, looks up at Duroc. The elder brother looks down at Goro with a look of pity. "You cowards..." Goro spits. "Fight me... One at a time..."

"No, Goro," Duroc shakes his head. "You are far below such an honor. But I will grant you what I realize now I should have granted you long ago: death."

Duroc raises his hands and lights them with flame.

"For the shokan, brother," he says, before bringing all four of them down upon Goro's head, smashing it. The headless corpse of Goro falls to the ground as Sheeva lets go.

Kaito picks himself up and watches as suddenly the soulnado nearby convulses and looses its form. A great wave of green light washes over the lands as Nightwolf finishes the ritual. The souls of all of Earthrealm are freed, and all of them fly out of the skeletons. The corpses, having lost their source of power and animation, fall to pieces. The remaining Brotherhood assassins and wraiths either are killed or flee.

All of the human revenants, Kathy, Bo and Sonya's team, fall over, their natural forms restored as the spell binding them is undone. Every soul that once comprised the soulnado flies back to where it had originally been stolen from to reform into physical form.

Kaito looks up and smiles as the soulnado is banished before turning to Duroc and Rokuro. Suddenly, Yanake runs up and throws her arms around him. "Kaito," she says. "I am so glad that you are well!"

"I should say the same," he says, looking at his newly arrived allies. "How did you get here?"

"Breeti's power allowed us to travel directly to you," Duroc explains. "It took some time to create a new ritual of passage. I hope we are not too late."

"You arrived at just the right time," Kaito tells them.

Rokuro, bizarrely enough, smiles. "Our timing was perfect, it seems. Goro is no more."

"Kaito!" Kenshi calls out. The lightning warrior turns to see the blind swordsman using his telekinesis to hold Quan Chi in place, who was attempting to crawl away.

Not far away, his fellow defenders help Kathy and Bo to their feet as Sonya reunites with her team.

"Well, well, well," Kaito says, approaching the blinded demon. "Now what to do with you?"

Kaito takes out the stone-phone to dial Raiden. After a moment, the thunder god appears in holographic form.

"Raiden. We've taken down the soulnado."

"So I can see; I sense life returning to all of Earthrelam."

"We've captured Quan Chi again, thanks to a little trick I learned from the Three Stooges. What do you want us to do with Curly?"

Raiden turns, distracted by the battle at his location. "We can gain much from keeping him alive, but it is too risky to bring him here to the battle, where he may be lost. Leave two of your party to guard him in a safe location and rejoin our battle force. I will be ready to teleport you to our location when you make contact again."

Raiden fades out and Kaito looks back at Quan Chi, thinking about who he can leave behind with the sorcerer. Whomever he does will not be there for the final push against Shao Kahn's fortress.

Yanake looks up at Kaito. "I could leave my men," she says.

"No, he's too wily for that. We need strong warriors to guard him," Kaito tells her. He looks at her. "It's really nice to see you, by the way."

The warrior girl finds herself blushing a bit. "We were told that we would have a chance to finish Shao Kahn once and for all. We would all gladly stand by your side. And... I wanted to see you again."

He smiles before turning back to look at Quan Chi once more as Sareena and Sub-Zero throw him at Kaito's feet.

"Nightwolf. Breeti. I'd like you two to stay and guard Quan Chi. Find somewhere safe to keep him, and try to mask his presence with your powers if you are able."

"I will do this," Nightwolf nods, as does Breeti.

Kaito turns to confer with the others. "Alright. We need to rejoin the others for the assault on the fortress in Times Square. Are we ready to go?"

Sonya gathers her team and the others all assemble around them. After a moment, Raiden teleports in, wounded from battle.

"Lord Raiden, are you alright?" Kung Lao asks.

"I will survive," Raiden assures him. "But we must hurry." He then sees the large group of warriors assembled from Yanake's village. "This is troubling," he says.

"What's wrong?" Kaito asks.

"I am weary from battle, keeping the Outworld hordes away from the soulnado. If I transport all of you at once, I may be too weak to continue fighting. I will need to rejuvenate at my Sky Temple."

"What if I granted you some of my power?" Kaito asks. "Like before, in Outworld?"

"This will leave you weakened as well," Raiden points out. "Then again, perhaps it is for the better."

Kaito tilts his head. "What's that supposed to mean?"

Raiden shakes his head. "This is not the time. We must rejoin the others! Shao Kahn has brought fourth all possible reinforcements from Outworld; the shokan, the amazons, the centaurs, the tarkatans and more."

Kaito is not sure he likes the fact that Raiden once more dodged the question and considers not giving him his energy. He wants to ask, but with all of the others around and ready to fight, perhaps there is simply no time.

"We may be able to walk," Yanake says, looking in the far distance to Shao Kahn's fortress along the skyline, "but we may arrive far too late."

Alright, Kaito will grant Raiden his power and the army will go with them to reinforce the defenders. We're facing an army of shokan, tarkatans, centaurs, amazons, random outwourld mutants, Tormentors and other nasties, along with the Outworld Elite (Reiko, Ermac, Mileena, etc.)

This is a full-fledged warzone we are dropping into and Kaito will have little to none lightning power, which he would do well to save up. What's his battle plan? Who does he stick close to? Who will he take with him when he makes it to the fortress? Who is he going to look out for?

Let's have some discussion before I write up the first part of the battle to the fortress.
>>
>>42183737
Stick with kenshi, maybe find someone strong and fresh to hide behind. Like Rokuro and Duroc
>>
>>42183737
Time to see if Mileena is with us or against us. Also stick with Kenshi.
>>
>>42183813

>>
>>42183737
Stick with kenshi an try an find a car battery or some working power lines
>>
>>42183737
Priority should probably be convincing Tortek to help us asap and cut Shao's defensive forces, also maybe get a jump start from Rain as soon as possible. Whichever we can do first, do.
If it means hijacking an elite warrior or 2 along the way all the better.
Beyond that we should probably keep Kenshi, Sheeva and O'Reilly close. One or 2 can help us pick out the people we need. And O'Reilly might need the cover.
Our boy Kung Lao would also be a good addition.
>>
>>42183737
See if he can get Duroc, Rokuro and Sheeva to convince the Shokan to switch sides.

See if we can get the Tarkatans to do the same. Promise them the battle of the century fighting against Shao Kahn's forces.

Kenshi should take on Ermac, he has the best defense against the Psychic Ninja and since Ermac is a grouping of souls see if he can free him from Shao Kahn's power. I'm sure he'd be unhappy if he was.

Kitana and someone else should go after Sindel. Either try and undo whatever spell Shao Kahn has on her or kill her since she's the reason he can merge the worlds.

Kaito should HE MUST WIN!
>>
our shokan makes their shokan join us

Kaito holds up a hand and focuses all that is left of his power into Raiden's outstretched hand. Once this is done, Raiden absorbs all that remains and holds his hands to the sky. He chants and after a moment, everyone is carried across the state in a massive storm of lightning. Kaito and all of the others, barring Nightwolf and Breeti, appear at the end of a large street leading to Shao Kahn's fortress.

All around them, the battle rages. The forces of Outworld clash against the defenders as they make the charge for the fortress, using every last ounce of strength, power and determination they have to repel the invaders. Liu Kang leads the attack, spearheading his way through the throngs of Outworld warriors with fire and fists.

Liu Kang charges up the back of a tormentor and slams his fists into its skull, burning his way through the bone and destroying its brain; its eyes burn out from within from the fire.

As Kaito's party joins the battle and Yanake's forces charge against the Outworld army, Kaito sticks close to Kenshi. "Stay with me, pal," he says to the blind man. "I might need your help."

"That's very comforting coming from someone who can see," Kenshi says with some snark. Kaito looks around for something to charge his powers on and sees some destroyed cars, but everywhere he looks there are enemies and allies battling each other.

The tigrar catches it in all four arms before Duroc jumps through the car and kicks him, knocking Kintaro to the floor.

Kaito looks at Kenshi. "I need something electric!"

Kaito uses what little energy he has left to teleport behind the warrior and uppercut him, but as he falls he manages to stab Kathy in the back of the leg. She shouts in pain and surprise as he falls. Kaito and Kenshi both manage to drag her to a nearby bit of debris for cover as Kaito takes out the water he took from the church. He concentrates for a moment on healing her, but then a pair of Outworld warriors charge them from behind with spears.

Kenshi takes out the laser sword and slices the heads off of both of their spears before blasting them back with his powers. He throws them backwards, where they land in front of Jax. The Special Forces major grabs both and slams their heads against each other, knocking them out.

Kaito manages to heal Kathy's wounds and get her back into the fight. Overhead, Kung Lao runs up a broken street lamp and leaps off the top in order to throw his hat to cut the head off of a shokan who had picked up two of Yanake's men.

Kaito looks ahead and sees a pair of tormentors charging down the street, ready to attack the defenders.

Kenshi slices open a fire hydrant as Rain leaps down nearby. He uses the water to blast the tormentors and Kaito runs up alongside him. Rain brings down a lightning bolt on the tormentors, frying them due to their wet nature. Kenshi picks up at car and throws it at one of the beasts while Stryker takes out a grenade and throws it down one of their throats, blowing out its throat from within. Kaito looks at Rain and asks him for a quick boost; the edenian warrior summons another bolt on Kaito, who absorbs it and gets a brief boost from it.

Further down the street, Tanya and Asgaarth battle alongside each other. The birdman picks up Tanya and gives her a boost, flying her over a group of centaurs. "Jade?"

The dark-skinned edenian takes her bo staff and attacks Kitana with it, knocking her off the bus. She leaps down and attempts to impale her on it, but fails as the princess rolls aside. "Jade, stop!" she shouts, but Jade, believing herself to be Mantis, does not.

Rain, Kaito and Kenshi run towards them but Reiko appears with a group of men, tackling Rain and the warriors busy themselves with Kenshi. Kaito charges up to the amnesia-ridden beauty and teleports behind her, sweeping out her leg. One of the amazons lunges at Kaito, but he picks her up and throws her into Reiko, allowing Rain to super-roundhouse kick them both into a nearby bank. Kaito tursn and sees Kitana get back up to her feet and attack Jade, begging her friend to remember who she is, to remember Edenia and all the wondrous beauties of the land. Mantis, however, has none of it and attacks Kitana without holding back.

Kaito uses the last bit of his juice left to blast Mantis in the back, allowing Kitana to knock her friend out cold with a solid kick to the head. Just then, a strong-looking woman with dark skin and black leather armor leaps out and attacks her with a sword. "Zara," Kitana spits as she blocks it with her fans.

The amazon leader attacks Kitana with the sword, challenging her to a one-on-one fight. Kitana tells Kaito to go; this is her battle.

At that moment, Kotal rides past on Xos, charging the dinosaur into a group of centaurs. Kotal brings down a ray of sunlight from above, managing to piece the red clouds, burning their skin as he leaps from the dinosaur's back, using his obsidian-bladed sword to hack off the head of one of the warriors before turning to another. Xos bites down on a centaur's flank, holding him in place as Kotal stabs him through the chest, tearing it open and tearing out the horse-man's still-beating heart and crushing it, drinking the blood that leaks from it.

Nearby, Sheeva and Kabal work together to kill a tormentor. The shokan warrior climbs atop its head, grappling with its horns, while the respirator-wearing warrior runs at a high speed around the base of the creature, using his hookswords to slice into its legs, forcing it down onto its knees. Sheeva pulls back on its horns, forcing its mouth to open, allowing one of Sonya's Special Forces teammates to launch a rocket inside from a bazooka, blowing it up.

Nah, guys, I promise you that Jade's really nice and stuff and a total sweetheart, just look at those playful eyes

Jade is actually my MK waifu but it's okay if you guys don't like her, I'm more interested in the story of the quest than waifu wars

I think they were going for a generic "she's the black girl so she should be sassy" thing...but in practice her personality is more like "has a forced catchphrase".

>Mantis, however, has none of it and attacks Kitana without holding back
Apparently Sheeva is the only one who's mind control can be broken by asking. Sonya couldn't manage it either.

>>42187106
I myself shudder to think of the day when the Waifu Wars come for this great quest

Well I don't think it's mind control, I think it's literally stolen memories.

This is strange magic. I wonder if Shang stored them somewhere.

Kaito flirts with everyone so everyone's waifu needs are appeased

Well to be fair she only had a handful of lines in that game so it's hard to say.
>>
>>42187195
Well that's sorta my problem. They gave her and Smoke their own whole chapters in MK9 and yet they're STILL the most underdeveloped characters in the game not named Baraka.

my current personal favorites as waifu material for Kaito are: Jade(no good reason, but the loyalty is a plus, and some bitchiness would probably do him some good as an alternative opinion on things. Might wear on him though), Mileena(complimentary view if not personality and would probably take well to wandering), Sheeva(grounded and provides counterbalance to Kaito's frivolity, would probably make him settle down), or Khameleon(personalities seem to play well off each other and her sneakiness counterbalances Kaito's openess)

I too like MK green stripper

I say stripper because she did a pole dance every time she won in mk9

Anon here who's only source of knowledge about Mortalk Kombat was this quest so far. Watched the story mode of MK9, because I figured we are already deep enough in the story for me tha get no surpises.

Jade was look fine enough for me. She acted silly at first, but so did Kitana, and taunted Baraka somehow like Kaito would.

And Jesu. Fucking . Christ!

Kaito looks down at his hands and begins to grow frustrated from lack of energy. He looks up at the sky, seeing the red clouds and the lightning bolts within. He gets an idea.

He soars upwards, using his cape to fly, up into the clouds. There, he shouts as he uses his latent abilities to absorb several lightning bolts into his body, overcharging his abilities. Kaito feels the power rushing through him and he flies back down to the earth below, crashing into the enemies and shocking several of them.

"Sparky's back in the game," he says to himself with a smile. Kaito blasts several warriors before a group of tarkatans appear. He looks and sees Tortek make his way through their ranks with a reddened face. Kaito smiles. "Tortek! ...Is that blood on your face, or ketchup? Doesn't matter."

Tortek looks around. "Is it time? Do we fight Shao Kahn?"

Kaito smiles and nods. "It's time."

Tortek howls and turns back to his men, shouting at them to attack the centaurs. The tarkatans follow his lead, eager to fight anyone, anywhere, so long as it's a good fight. With the tarkatans on their side, the tide of the battle begins to turn, but it does not truly shift until a portal opens up near Shao Kahn's fortress and out pour several villages of Outworlders, fighting against Shao Kahn's armies, led by Master Bo' Rai Cho.

Having fought his way down the street to the foot of the fortress, Kaito looks up and sees the master leading the army. He is amazed at the sight and describes it to Kenshi, but he does not know how they arrived.

"I led them here," Khameleon suddenly says, decloaking alongside him. "I went to Outworld to get your allies. When they were gone, I found Bo' Rai Cho and several villages instead."

Kaito throws her into a hug, glad that she came through for them. Kaito turns to the fortress and makes his way towards its entry, finally reaching it alongside several of the other heroes.

Outside, the battle continues to rage, but Liu Kang, Raiden, Kenshi, Johnny Cage, Sonya Blade, Sub-Zero and Smoke have made it within.

"We must go after Shao Kahn," Liu Kang says.

"Shouldn't we wait for any of the others?" Kaito asks.

"There is no time!" the shaolin insists. "The battle is turning and we have a chance to stop them here, once and for all! If we defeat Shao Kahn, the invasion is ended!"

Liu Kang enters the fortress, encountering more guards within. Working together, they fight their way upwards.

Three levels below the throne room, they encounter Ermac and Motaro waiting for them. Kenshi insists on staying behind to battle Ermac while Sub-Zero and Smoke stay to battle the centaur general; they tell everyone else to move on. Though he is wary of leaving his friend to battle the soul construct, he knows that Kenshi knows what he is doing, and so Kaito accompanies Johnny, Sonya, Raiden and Liu to the throne room.

There, they encounter Shao Kahn, sitting upon his throne, flanked by his Queen Sindel and his heir Mileena.

Raiden leads the group to stand before Shao Kahn.

"It is ended, Shao Kahn. Your forces have met their match."

"I very much doubt that," he says. "I have yet to join the fight, nor has my wife and daughter."

Liu Kang points at him. "Your invasion is over! It all stops here! I am Liu Kang, descendant of the Great Kung Lao, and in the name of every soul in the realm of Earth, I will defeat you! I challenge you to Mortal Kombat!"

Shao Kahn laughs.

"Mortal Kombat means nothing anymore," he says. "Your realm is mine. I have nearly completely absorbed it into Outworld; soon, there will be no realm of Earth. Only Outworld will remain."

He rises to his feet. Kaito looks alongside the throne and sees Turana, who stares at him with worried eyes. The Emperor continues his boasts. "And when your world is gone, I will forget it ever existed, and I will turn my sight to another. Five hundred years of defiance will have meant nothing, and all that your people have worked to achieve, I will crush and destroy. I have done this to countless worlds, to countless peoples, and I shall do so again many more times when I am done here."

Liu Kang clenches his fists. "Not if I have anything to say about it, conqueror."

Shao Kahn waves his hand, creating a wave of green energy that nearly knocks them all off of their feet, save for Johnny and Sonya, who both fly backwards and hit the wall.

Liu Kang's resolve is firm, however. "I will fight you, Kahn! Step down and face me like a true warrior!"

Shao Kahn's hammer appears in his hand and he descends the steps of his throne. "So be it," he says. Sindel sets her sights on Raiden, leaving Mileena to face down Kaito.

As the three pairs prepare to face each other in Mortal Kombat, Kaito looks at the hybrid. "Mileena, you don't have to do this."

For a moment, her resolve falters.

"No, that's where you're wrong," she says. "I have to... I am a princess of Outworld, and you are my enemy."

"You know I'm not your enemy," he says. "Search your heart."

Shao Kahn laughs. "My daughter is ruthless. A warrior I can be proud of. She has no heart, no pity, no remorse."

Mileena's eyes cast downwards. "Yes... father."

She draws her sai and points them at Kaito.

"Please..." he says to her. "Don't do this."

He can see his words working on her. But then she shakes her head as Shao Kahn shouts, "FIGHT!"

Sindel flies at Raiden, screaming with a voice that is amplified many times over by sonic power. Liu Kang leaps at Shao Kahn with a flying kick, which the Emperor blocks, following up with a series of swings of his hammer which the shaolin dodges.

"Mileena... Please."

She pauses, torn between what she believes she must do and what she wants to do.

But she gives in, and shouts as she leaps towards Kaito, sai blades flourishing.

>To be continued...

We will continue this in the next thread, which I will make in a few hours. I need to get some dinner in me and recharge my batteries and indulge my friend in a trip into downtown Korea, but I will return. I have no work tomorrow, so it will be spent on this quest.

We are approaching the dramatic finale to the Outworld Invasion arc, where we will finally determine the fate of Earthrealm... and learn the truth behind Kaito that we've been building up to since the very first thread.

>>
>>42187648
>ignore Mileena
>Pay this bastard back for everything he's done and people he's killed by double teaming him with Liu Kang.

THAT'S RIGHT

WE PROMISED HER A KISS

We need to make this happen gents
>>
>>42187898
Is this the MKX version with lips? Because otherwise, I think there may be a logistical error with that plan.
>>
>>42187909
Specifically the next time we saw her. This is that time.
>>
>>42187898
>>42187909
Oh come on, that's just too cheesy.

>>

>>
>>42187923

yeah but

but we promised her

and come on the poor girl could really use one right about now, she basically just got told by her father figure that she isn't supposed to have a heart

Kissing her would make her feel all sorts of butterflies in her stomach

>>42187920

We can still work with pic related
>>
>>42187920
Hopefully. If not then we make due with the teeth. Still the lips would probably make it a better all around experience for both of us. Your teeth aren't sensitive to touch.
The lips would also make it easier to go full on make out mode for a second if we feel like but she might take the opportunity to bite us right now so I feel like quick and chaste gets a pass.
>>
>>42187943
Really? Riskin our lives 2 times to save our friend, and on the third time, while our world's fate hang in the balance, first thing we do is to go First Base on her jailor?
Also Trying to manipulate someone trough seduction? That doesn't look like the fun-flirtous Kaito I know.
>>
>>42187976
You're probably right, but fuck man this is a hard one.
>>
>>42187976
(Continue)
Just for the record my problem isn't the kiss, just the time and the place. I believe if we truly care about Mileena's freedom, then this isn't the right move
>>
>>42187976
Not even why I suggested it. It's the exact thing we promised her in the exact conditions we promised her. What it does or doesn't do is irrelevant.
>>
>>42188007 me here
>>42187999
That's fair.
>Inb4 Mileena goes for a "kiss me", Kaito agrees because Kaito, and we get lunched by virtue of "fuck he's a moron, I have to bite him right now."
Still. Manipulation wasn't my intent, just a side effect of the action that may or may not arise.
>>
>>42188056
I'm glad to be on the same page anon.
We are definitley paying that debt we owe her later, no question.
>>
>>42188086
I have nothing but respect for the self-determination of all of Kaito (possible) future waifus and friends (and weirdly fine with whoever he winds up with, I like all the girls as characters for different reasons, and think most would work well as waifu material for different reasons.).

Still. We can agree we aren't killing her right?
>>
>>42188131
Not intetionally that's for sure.
and hopefully not accidentally either

The other option is our options for "reforming villian/demon/wraith* traveling companion" goes up by 1 after we drag whoever she becomes out of Hell.

Glad I could help. Living, the version in this quest is a tad nuts, but she's not all together consumed by her interests and obsessions. And she's not so far gone as to be unable to see outside of them. She'd be able to mostly, if not entirely, move past them with Shao Kahn not reinforcing that horse shit.
Wraith Mileena wouldn't have that. She'd have betrayal and "HE PROMISED".
99% of which would likely be pointed at us.
