Still fluttering, the two chase after the card until it lands among a group of other students hanging out in the shadow of a tree in the athletic field shared by the junior high and the high school.

They look up at the two of them, the long and decorated dormant Cardian landing on top of a pile of smaller cards in protective sleeves. One of the kids picks it up as the fraternal twins skid to a halt, worried at what the boy will say.

“I found your lunch,” the red haired girl’s deadpan stretches before you as she holds up her shoes.

Smeared and stuffed with rice, grease, bits of veggies, and crumbling pieces of hamburger; Kairi’s shoes hold the answer to the mystery of your pilfered lunchbox. While the lunch box itself is still missing this matter and the matter of your also empty shoe locker point to the continued target painted on yourself and your best friend, Kairi Osaka, by supernaturally possessed classmates.

The reason behind this remain unknown.

You are Mikage Chiba, second year highschool student fifteen years old, and you used to be the third woman to be known as the Champion of Love & Justice named Sailor Moon. Your mother and older sister carried that mantle before you, and it has since passed on to your younger sister after you gave it up after a traumatic experience. Now you operate in the shadows as the mysterious hero known as Eclipse to support your sister and her guardian court against the machinations of great evil.

Additionally you are trying to recover the life you stopped living back then, which is now running into some unexpected difficulties. Specifically possessed classmates targeting you and Kairi with petty bullying.

You catch the two newcomers up on what happened, and then all three of them regarding the spider and it's true material make as a tiny piece of a shadow creature hivemind that is obsessed with Sugimoto-san.

Keiko Sugimoto is the most popular girl in school, and whoever is the root source of these possessing spiders believes you and Kairi-chan are undeserving of your newfound familiarity and friendship with their idol.

Earlier in the day Sugimoto-san also gave you a peculiar double sided keycard pass to the Crowne Arcade, along with an invitation to going there after school for a secretive meeting with your younger sister and the current team of Sailor Senshi for some purpose or another.

“It could be anyone in Keiko’s fanclub,” Midori offers, “Or just a lone fan,”

“We need to keep in mind that being shadow possessed exacerbates the negative emotions they’re built on,” Kairi sighs in hushed tones as she pulses with magical energy.

Starting with the Ring containing the spirit of one of your father’s deceased retainers, a thin line of energy subtly snakes up her arm and down her legs before forming into cerulean blue sandals at her feet. You’ve seen these before, a personally shaped magic and part of the power born from becoming one of your knights.

“The fanclub isn’t officially affiliated with the school,” Keiko explains with some embarrassment underlying her seriousness, “They use a public meeting room at the municipal library, they have meetings Tuesdays and Thursdays after school,”

“People who could be here,” the raven haired would be idol sighs, “We could take this conversation to the Crowne Arcade? And perhaps also let certain people to keep a sharp eye on the high school. Magical girl people? Magical girl people who are waiting for us?”

Looking past your group and out the open front area of the school, you catch sight of something that chills your blood.

Your little sister, Koyomi, and her friend Kanari Kino are waiting by the front gate of Juuban Municipal High School. Koyomi is talking quite animatedly with your class representative, Yoshi Sakurada, who also seemed to be waiting by the gate.

“Excellent,” the popular girl smiles and reaches her arms around the shoulders of Kairi-chan and Sugimoto-san, “As for the two of you, after the senshi business is done I have a surprise for all of us,”

Kairi sighs and Midori snickers as you slip out the door and go wide and hug the school’s outer wall. Keeping low and hiding behind a few bushes, you avoid being noticed by the rest of the student body while making use of your ability to appear as just another unremarkable face in crowd. As a hidden cypher, you sidle near the gate just out of sight and listen in to your baby sister and her friend talk to your class rep.

By the time you get there, the voice that seems to be leading things is actually your sister’s friend Kanari Kino.

“So, what you’re saying is next year the top spots in the basketball club and the judo club will be up for grabs?” the young athlete and one of your sister’s guardian court asks in earnest excitement.

That’s right, Kino-san already passed her entrance exam for next year. If she’s talking to your class rep about that, then what was Koyomi talking to him about?

You decide to wait a touch longer for the perfect spot to cut in, and you are a touch curious as to just what Yoshi has to say about you. To say nothing about your sister’s intentions on checking up on you.

In response to Koyomi’s question, Yoshi is silent for a few seconds. Its an awkward silence broken by your sister reiterating her query in brief.

“Well?”

“I think your sister is doing better than she has in a very long time,” he says succinctly and kind of obviously evasively.

Well, you might as well save him and prevent your sister from digging further.

~And I think having such a concerned and caring baby sister has been a great help,~ you say as you step out from around the corner and plant your hand on top of your younger sister’s head.

“Nee-chan!” Koyomi bounces at your arrival, “Are you coming with us to the Crowne today?”

~Yeah,~ you explain and give a nod to Kanari Kino, ~Sugimoto-san caught me with the invitation,~

“Yeah, sorry, it was kind of a last minute idea,” your sister laughs nervously.

Kanari returns your nod as Yoshi speaks up behind you.

“Ah, I was actually waiting to speak with you,”

~Yeah,~ you turn to face him, ~I’ve been a bit busy this afternoon,~

A thought plays across his face as he glances at your sister and Kanari. Is he wondering about whether or not your sister knows about you being the Red Eyed Beast?

“Yes,” he begins as another interruption enters the scene.

While moving, you catch sight of Midori and Kairi hanging back toward the front of the school as some of the last other students filter out through the yard. Likely staggering their departure to meet up with you and Keiko for her surprise after the Senshi meeting.

Coming to a stop in the afternoon shade of the tree, you sigh while Yoshi adjusts his collar and tie.

“So, about earlier,” he clears his throat, “I know we have a lot to talk about, I’m certain most of it can wait for later during the week or at the show. However I do have a few pressing questions if you can answer them for me,”

~Yeah,~ you groan, ~Yeah there are probably a few things you can’t wait on,~

“So,” he begins, “Do you know what those shadows Umeki-san and I saw in class were? And are YOU okay? I heard through a few rumors and via the representative meeting of the student council that you and Osaka-san were being treated unkindly today,”

He doesn't press on the issue of his manager, at least it seems he's trusting you implicitly on the concern you bled over the issue despite how vague you were as to the why.

The Chiba Family!

Mikage Chiba: Former Magical Girl & our protagonist. Quite being Sailor Moon after a traumatic battle in which she believed herself responsible for the death of her best friend’s father. Now knows what happened and is trying to rebuild her life and do what she can to protect her baby sister. A second year highschool student with pink hair and vibrant red eyes.

Koyomi Chiba: Youngest of the Chiba sisters, currently serves as Sailor New Moon. A vivacious, bubble headed, and caring third year junior high student with piercing blue eyes and blonde hair. A font of never ending optimism, and trusting in her friends and family. She’ll be as strong as she can be for them, and to do the legacy of Sailor Moon justice. She also falls in love easily and has a wandering eye like her mother did in youth.

Usa (Usagi/Chibi-Usa) Chiba: “Oldest” of the Chiba sisters. Actually a time traveler who years ago came back while a small child under strange circumstances from a Utopian future under siege from terrible enemies. Coming back to the past in search of Sailor Moon, then Usagi Tsukino, it was revealed her parents in the future were the rulers of that Utopia who were future versions of Usagi Tsukino and her beloved Mamoru Chiba. After saving the future and the present from great evil, Chibi-Usa became Sailor Mini Moon and eventually became Sailor Moon and helped divert her own future into an alternate possibility stable and separate from the present, she is biologically the same person as Mikage but lived an entirely different life.

Diana, the Larger: Usa’s Companion, a magical talking moon cat from the future who can turn into a (short despite young adulthood) human shape. She is to the kitten Diana as Usa is to Mikage. A time traveler. A bit of a party girl.

Ugh, this mood is so dour. Its oppressive, and thinking against it glints a small bit of mischief within you. In a single motion your hands spring forward and grab his, you can only imagine how much this is causing your baby sister or the others to freak out considering they likely can’t hear.

Yoshi’s poker face breaks for an instant, shock.

His eyes widen as your face breaks into a smile.

In no time at all, the four of you enter the Crowne Arcade. The arcade and cafe are full of afternoon activity from all the after school rush. Keiko and Koyomi excitedly lead the two of you through to the back where the recently reopened Karaoke rooms await, at least according to the signs out front. The attendant lets the four of you back when you flash the Crowne Passes.

Alone in the back hallway full of private Karaoke rooms, Keiko allows your sister the honors and she swipes the white card in one of the assorted doors with giddy glee. Kanari Kino rolls her eyes as the lights on the card swipe all light up, and then something magical happens.

A white portal of light opens in front of the four of you, the other three quickly duck inside.

Turning you see the familiar attendant, Yeon Sek, sticking his head through the curtain.

Whatever is on the other side of this portal is where the Senshi go without fear, so you can trust it. However, just in case, you build a fortress in your mind to conceal your true thoughts should questions of probing of some kind take place. Intentional or not, you know how potentially strong Aiha’s psychic powers could be.

For all you know, worry over your staged fight and the nature of your transformation has taken root and they could be preparing some kind of Senshi team attack to purify you and return you to normal.

This darkness, as dangerous as it is, isn’t something you can abandon just yet.

Stepping through the portal, shooting Yeon one last questioning look as you step through, you find yourself in a white and pretty vanity lined dressing room and Karaoke parlor. Your baby sister is busily trying to affix miniature party hats to her hair buns with Kanari’s aid.

Kumada Rin, is busy laying out some snacks around a light surfaced table, while Aiha Mizuno sits nervously with a few noisemakers in a corner. The bubbly and vivacious Venus Aino hops up into your field of vision and thrusts a party hat topped with a pompom into your grasp and grins.

“PB-chan! you made it!” the little girl cheers as the current Sailor Mars and Mercury both wave at you weakly.

Its here that you notice four girls hanging a banner by the vanities. Each with ostentatious hairstyles that no sane human being should or could ever wear. Blue, Pink, Green, and Red.

You haven’t seen these girls in a few months, they fought alongside Usa-neechan during her time as Sailor Moon. The Sailor Quartet, empowered by the major asteroids of the solar system.

Technically speaking, considering that she still has to meet their future alternate selves, they should have been your quartet.

“DAMNIT PALLPALLA!” the red haired one shouts as the towering and curved vertical braid sways atop her head flops about, “I told you to stay still!”

“Sorry VesVes,” the blue haired girl whines as the other girl grabs the lobes of her ears and twists, “I’m Soooooooorry!”

~Uh, two minute warning, I guess,~ you offer them and the tomfoolery immediately stops.

“Your sister had the bright idea this morning to organize an all Senshi goodbye party for your big sister,” Keiko explains as she hands you a cup of punch while Venus runs over to help the older girls hang the decoration.

Mildly, you feel as though you dodged a bullet as far as dealing with the rambunctious Sailor Quartet. Their civilian clothes are kind of gaudy, and small. Miki small, just with less taste. The other two girls, JunJun and CereCere, scold the two of them for getting into a fight with each other as they finish securing the banner.

And you imagine that the two minute warning was for the arrival of the guest of honor. It reminds you that your big sister is leaving today.
