Rolled 47 (1d100)

>Last time, you snuck your way into the super-secret family vault of scrolls and other assorted pieces of musty parchment! There, you found an old journal, seemingly written by another Quincy, whom could also use Spiral Power! After reading the very beginning of your predecessor’s tale, you finally began training in the Quincy arts alongside your Grandfather.

Dice Rolls: Higher is better, best out of three. Crits override normal rolls, and crit-success overrides crit-failure.
Whenever I ask for rolls other than d100, I’ll be taking the FIRST roll, unless I say otherwise. I take the first roll for Encounter rolls.
Time limit for votes is 5-10 minutes. I may provide extensions depending on the votes’ importance.
Feel free to give Write-In votes whenever; my adding them to the vote doesn’t necessarily require overwhelming support, so long as they make sense with the actual leading vote.

Your name is Uryu Ishida, seven years old. Today officially marks the very second day of your Quincy training. Yesterday was certainly fairly tiring, but you’re determined to succeed!

You and Grandfather are currently walking about through the forest. You breathe in the cool fall air. You really love autumn, and you’re not just saying that because your birthday’s in November, either. The falling leaves are painted in beautiful hues of red and gold and orange, cascading around you as you and Grandfather slowly begin to pick up the pace, breaking out into a jog.

You still aren’t sure where exactly the two of you are going. He did offer a small hint though:

>He had mentioned going somewhere more ‘spiritually active.’
>He had said that the two of you were going to a more appropriate place to meditate and train.
>He had said something about ‘field experience’ and told you to follow whatever directions he asked of you.

Quincy training has finally begun, and the pace might actually start picking up a bit, what with training montages and timeskips and all that.

Somewhere more appropriate, huh? You aren’t too sure what he meant about that. ‘More appropriate’ could mean anything from a quiet place to meditate, to an entire training cavern with free healing, to a giant obstacle course out in the middle of nowhere. That last one may be a little unlikely, but you can’t count anything out at this point.

Grandfather waves you over from several feet away, prompting you to pick up the pace. You’re not too sure how much longer you’ll be able to run for; in your spars with your friends, you weren’t exactly the best when it came to endurance.

Finally, Grandfather stops at a seemingly innocuous clearing. You know better now than to assume everything is as it seems, though. No doubt Grandfather is going to pull out some Quincy technique just like Mother did when-

“Well, we’re here,” Grandfather says, throwing you off.

You blink, and quickly scan the clearing the two of you had arrived in. Seeing nothing out of place, you turn back to your grandfather, confused. “Wait, that’s it?” You say, “just another clearing?”

“I’m afraid so, Uryu. Why, were you expecting something more ‘extravagant?’” Grandfather chuckles, then gives you a small smile. “Though I’d say this isn’t just any clearing. Try focusing on your spiritual senses rather than your physical ones.” He suggests.

You raise an eyebrow, skeptical, but follow your grandfather’s words. After sitting down on the hard, packed dirt, still chilled from last night, you close your eyes and steady your breathing, focusing on your less-used spiritual senses…

>Rolled: 94 vs. DC80: Success!

Despite its subtlety, you immediately feel the density of the Reishi around you.

“So?” asks Grandfather, “What do you feel? It should be rather obvious in hindsight.”

You start with a description of the density of the Reishi around you, but you stop yourself mid-sentence. That’s not everything that’s different about this particular clearing, and you know it. You frown and wrinkle your brow in concentration, even allowing the Reishi to flow around you.

Ah, that’s it.

“The Reishi here’s less… ‘turbulent’ than almost anywhere else I’ve been to.” You say. “Calmer. It feels easier to use, even. That, and if I really focus, it almost feels like the Reiatsu of another Quincy, just more, uh, diluted is the word I’m looking for, I think.” You take in another breath, letting go of your spiritual senses, and look back up at Grandfather.

Grandfather positively beams at your evaluation. “All correct, Uryu! Excellent work- you’re more talented at sensing than I thought you would be. I’m sure you wish to ask about the quality of the Reishi here?”

You nod your head. “A fair question,” says Grandfather, reaching into his robe. “You see, Uryu, this small clearing is actually a focal point- one of five- for a large defensive spell first cast by our ancestors. I told you of Zauberkunde, the Quincy magic, yes? This is an example of that. Today, I will be teaching you the very basics: how to convert Reishi and Reiatsu into a liquid state.”

After rifling through his pockets for a while, he finally brings out one of those small silver tubes you and your mother had used to enter the private clearing. “This is a Ginto. It’s used to store liquefied Reishi and Reiryoku for later use. Here, catch.” He throws it to you, and you deftly snatch it out of the air. “I’ve found that the best way to learn is through doing."

He smiles at you encouragingly. "Thus, I want you to try to condense some spiritual energy by yourself.” He gestures at you.

You frown at the small capsule, twisting the top off. How to go about this…?

>Try condensing some of the surrounding Reishi around you first. This should be a little easier with your school in gathering the stuff.
>Try to funnel some of your Reiryoku first, instead. That’ll probably be the hard part, so it’s best you get that out of the way.
>Go full ham on it- cram both your Reiryoku and the surrounding Reishi into the thing. That’s what it’s supposed to hold in the first place, right?

>Try condensing some of the surrounding Reishi around you first. This should be a little easier with your school in gathering the stuff. DC40-20 if successful with below.
>Try to funnel some of your Reiryoku first, instead. That’ll probably be the hard part, so it’s best you get that out of the way. DC50-15 if successful with the above.

>Rolled: 63 vs. DC40= Major Success!

You breathe in, pulling at the Reishi around you into a thick, almost soupy fog. Rather than concentrating the stuff in your palms, you manage to concentrate it into the capsule, which immediately begins to glow a faint blue as it fills up to the brim. You quickly screw the cap back on, and take a few breaths as you relinquish your hold on the spiritual particles. You glance at Grandfather; he looks pleasantly surprised.

After taking another breather, you focus back on the task at hand. Feeling out with tendrils of spiritual power, you unscrew the capsule, retaking control of the Reishi. Finally, you grasp at the very last part of the formula: your own Reiryoku, the spiritual energy your soul produces. You don’t have much experience with actually using the stuff except for that Hollow attack at Ichigo’s, and you’re certain that that was more the Spiral Power and adrenaline speaking than you.

>Rolled: 80 vs. DC50 - 15(Earlier major success) = DC35 = Massive success!

You needn’t have worried anyway. Your Reiryoku almost instinctively seems to know exactly what to do, almost digging itself into the silver capsule, immediately combining with the Reishi. With nary more than a flick with your mind, the stuff condenses into a bright green liquid. You blink at it. So, is that the color your Reiatsu would be? You imagine so, and you can’t say you’re very surprised either.

>>42460775

You look back up at your Grandfather, beaming with pride. His earlier surprise seems to have morphed into outright shock, and he gingerly takes the capsule from you, holding it up to his face for scrutiny. When he finally passes it back to you, his face is thoughtful. “Well,” he says, “I believe we’ve found something you have quite a talent for, Uryu. Congratulations.” He gives you a genuine smile.

>Gained Perk: You’re a wizard, Uryu!
>Learning rolls for the Zauberkunde branch of Quincy skills get a 1.15x bonus!

Grandfather stands back up, indicating for you to do the same. “Now, despite your newly-found talent, all I want you to do now is drop a single drop of your condensed Reishi into the ground when I tell you to.” He gives you a stern look.

You nod hurriedly, uncapping the capsule once more. The green light of your Reiryoku spills forth. Your ears perk at the soft chanting of your grandfather; you’re fairly certain it’s in German. That’s probably a language you should get to learning…

“Now, Uryu.” He commands, having finished the last verse. You comply, tipping the silver tube; a single drop of green spills over and sinks into the ground, and you screw the capsule closed. Almost immediately, a large symbol –five lines sprouting from a singular point - lights up in the packed earth, before slowly fading away.

The earlier feeling of dense Reishi multiplies, and you can feel it far more easily, without even having to actually meditate. “Wow,” you breathe, sucking in another breath. Even the air is affected; it tastes cleaner, purer somehow. Somehow, you don’t notice that you’d fallen down in a daze.

Grandfather chuckles at your reaction, and tells you that he was going to go and check the other five focal points for any weaknesses, and that you’re free to come.

***
It’s a while later, while you’re practicing your spiritual sense, when something pings on your spiritual radar. It feels somewhat like a Quincy, but you’re not too certain as to what exactly would be strong enough for you to notice besides the next focal point. You glance at Grandfather, but he doesn’t seem to have noticed it.

Right, have to be responsible and everything. “Grandfather?” You begin. You quickly tell him that something happened to catch the attention of your spiritual senses. Strangely enough, when you tell him, Grandfather seems entirely confused. The two of you quickly realize that for whatever reason, the object only seems to alert you, whatever it is.

While leading your Grandfather in the direction of the strange object (whose signal only seems to grow stronger as you get closer), Grandfather suddenly places an arm in your path, stopping you in your tracks. “Uryu,” he says quietly, “are you certain this is the way?” You nod, confused but wary as to why the two of you had stopped. “This way leads to a path outside of the protective spell around our house and the surrounding vicinity. I will be willing to protect you if you insist on going this way, but I would suggest otherwise. It is still your choice, however.” Grandfather says, stern but gentle.

You're vaguely unnerved, but at the same time, you can't shake off the feeling that this is important...

You nod. “Don’t worry; I’ll be sure to stick close to you, Grandfather. I won’t go running off.” You smile. Grandfather doesn’t seem to take it in stride, though- instead, he lets out a soft, resigned sigh.

“I suppose I shouldn’t be so surprised,” he murmurs, shaking his head. He turns back to you, then gestures towards his back. “Climb up, Uryu. Yes, just like that. Don’t worry about me; I’m not so old as to have back problems quite yet. Now, hold tight.” You don’t have any time to voice your questions when your grandfather rockets forward through the forest, knocking the air out of your lungs. You reflexively clutch at your grandfather’s clothing, huddling up closer to prevent from falling off.

You manage to bark out directions whenever Grandfather stops to either ask or take a short breather before leaping off into another direction, the object’s signal growing stronger by the second.

“Stop!” You shout. Grandfather does so, abruptly standing in place. “T-this is it, or at least, r-really close,” you say shakily. “Can- can I go back down, now?” Grandfather nods and you hastily climb back down onto the ground. After taking a second for your stomach to settle, you reach out with your spiritual senses, trying to pinpoint the precise point where the signal seems to be coming from…

And… it’s gone. You breathe in, out. In, out. In…

The pain slowly begins to fade away, and you shudder as you try to pick yourself up from the ground. Unfortunately, all that you manage to do is throw up all over the dirt, your throat burning with bile. Eugh.

You finally manage to slip back into a sitting position, noticing for the first time that your Grandfather was hovering over you and calling your name. You aren’t sure how long he’s been there…

“Uryu!? Uryu, are you alright?” He whispers, gently patting you down and looking you over. “Are you in any more pain? No, on second thought, drink this, just in case.” He quickly brings out a small bottle of silvery liquid. You drink it down without a second thought, but inwardly, you recoil at the taste. It tastes like the very worst parts of cold medicine magnified about a thousand times.

On the other hand, the pain and dizziness seems to be receding far more quickly than before, so there’s that…

Suddenly, your grandfather hugs you very close to his chest in relief. “I knew we shouldn’t have come here…” he whispers.

“I-I’m fine,” you manage to croak. “The thing is still-“

Grandfather cuts you off immediately. “No, Uryu. I cannot risk you having another attack like that. What if a Hollow had detected us, and I was forced to protect you? What if I had also been affected? What if-“ you mentally begin cutting him off as you look over his shoulder. There’s something over there that wasn’t there before…

You frown a little. You have to get to that box. You can feel it. It’s… important, in a way you can’t possibly describe. With some effort, you slowly manage to pry off your grandfather’s grasp on you, and with one carefully controlled leap…

You burst out of his grasp, rolling across the dirt. Scrambling back up, you dash over to the chest, Core Drill in hand. But just when you’re about to open it up-

“What do you think you’re doing, Uryu?” Hisses your grandfather as he seemingly materializes in front of you. He grasps at your arm and begins to pull you away.

“N-no! I have to-“

“you have to do nothing.” Grandfather says, cutting you off. “I promised your father that I would keep you alive, and I WILL. You can try opening that up later-“

“So you saw it too! And you saw how it fits! I have to open it up! It’s Important!” You screech in frustration, and attempt to pull your arm away. “It needs-“ you take a step, pulling yourself away from your Grandfather, “-to be-“ you take another step, savagely pulling away with strength you never knew you had, “-opened-“ you take a third step, at this point dragging Grandfather on the ground behind you, “NOW!”

With that final roar, you manage to pull your arm away. Knowing that Grandfather’s shock wouldn’t last forever, you run forward, back up to the chest, and hurriedly press your Core Drill inside.

Click.

The top swings open, and a bright flash of green light consumes your vision.

You see nothing but an endless expanse of white dunes and boulders, with the occasional dead tree strewn about here and there. A crescent moon hangs up high in the sky. You have a sinking feeling that it’s not going to go away anytime soon.

You try to reach out with your spiritual senses- only to be completely CRUSHED by the sheer weight of the Reishi here. Worse yet, you think you feel Hollows… everywhere. It’s too much; you can literally feel your entire being slowly being grinded into dust under the unrepentant weight of hundreds of Reiatsu signatures and hundreds of thousands of tons of Reishi. Your breath quickens as you feel wave after wave of nausea come over you…

You throw up for the second time that day all over the cave floor. It’s no prettier than it was before. After sitting back up, you retract your spiritual sense- you’re pretty certain it’s going to do you more harm than good at this point. The crushing sensation slowly recedes, and your lungs feel like they can actually work again.

Standing up, you look around the small cave you found yourself in. It’s made entirely out of stone, which is as white as everything else in here. You rub at your eyes again; you’re starting to get sick of the color.

Looking behind you, you see the only splash of real color around for what seems like miles: a bright green tear in reality, roughly the size of the chest you had opened earlier. You think, or at least hope, that it would be able to get you back home if you step through it again.

Every single cell in your body is screaming to head back into the portal, to run away from this damned place and never come back. Urahara wasn’t kidding when he said that Quincies and Hollows were diametrically opposed, it seems.

Still, in defiance of all logic, you look back outside, and to your surprise, you think you can see something rising in the distance…

The sand is abrasive. There isn’t any wind here, but the sand is deep enough that your leg sinks all the way past your ankles. You’re pretty sure that you’ve gotten about a million scratches just from trying to slog through it.

You take a quick look at your inventory: 3 Ginto full of condensed Reiatsu, given to you from your mother; the Ginto you had filled earlier, still mostly full of your own Reiatsu; a water bottle, still full; a few hours’ worth of rations that your grandfather had insisted you take; and of course, your Core Drill.

You clutch that last one in your palm tightly. It makes you feel a little bit better. You still have no idea what you were trying to do by charging out here. You could be eaten up by Hollows, or possibly even worse…

Well, maybe you can try to hide your spiritual signature? You contract what little Reiryoku you have into a tiny, hopefully undetectable ball in your heart. You sigh. You hope it works…

I wonder who we'll bump into at this point in time

Her and Stark should both be options.
Fortunately, Nnoitra, Szayel and Barragan should not be options.

And thank god for that

Unfortunately, the Privaron would also already be recruited at this point.
I like the Privaron, they're pretty much all decent enough people.

Step. Step. Step. Step.

You slowly plod along, grunting in frustration every time you find a deep patch of sand and you’re forced to pull your foot again.

Step. Step. Step. Step.

You’re beginning to feel like a complete idiot. This whole thing was a complete mistake. Well, probably. You’re probably just going to die from starvation or thirst or something at this point. It’s only been through sheer luck that the various Hollows you’ve seen were either too small to eat you (you morbidly wonder what kind of person would turn into an ant Hollow) or outright didn’t think you worthy of a meal.

Step. Step. Step. Grumble. Step.

Speaking of meals, you take out one of those protein bars you had packed earlier. Mint chocolate chip? Eh, it’s not bad. Throwing the wrapper back into your small sack of things, you continue your slow, plodding walk, hoping you won’t just drop out of exhaustion.

Step. Step. Step. Step-

“Gwah! Mph…” You wriggle around in the sand, trying to push yourself back up after tripping, but only managing to sink your arms too. You growl, this time trying to pull your arms out, only to find that MORE SAND is just gobbling you up.

“Having fun there, Nino?” Says a voice from far above you. Your blood immediately runs cold. Oh God, is this how it ends? With a Spanish Hollow eating your corpse after it drowns in sand?

“Ah, ah, ah, don’t think such terrible thoughts! You’re going to attract the other Hollows here. I’m willing to bet that the only reason you’ve been ignored up to now is because you’ve been careful to conceal your spiritual pressure, yes?”

You grunt in reply, being unable to do much else, seeing as your face is covered in abrasive sand. You can barely even breathe…

The voice hums. “Well, I suppose it would be rude of me to just leave you there, hm? And at any rate, my appointment isn’t for a few hours yet…”

White sand blows away from you, a great wind suddenly cutting it all away. You snap your eyes closed and score several more scratches on your skin when you cover your face with your arms. The wind peters down, and you take your first look at your unlikely savior.

He’s certainly much older than you, if his height is anything to go by, and now that you aren’t being distracted by imminent death by sand strangulation, you can feel the subtle waves of power that roll off of him.

“Well, what did you think of that, Nino? Fancy enough a rescue for you?” He shoots you a goofy grin.

“Er… Um. Ah, thank…you…?” You say with an upward lilt at the end. You shake your head. Manners, Uryu! You’re not some barbarian. “Ah… thank you!” You say, tacking on some genuine gratitude. “I probably would have drowned back there, if it weren’t for your help. And it was very stylish, yes.” You add as an afterthought.

The strange man- you realize that you don’t even know his name- laughs. “Hahah! No need to thank me, Nino. It’s just one good deed- nothing to really be congratulated for.” The man floats back down, lightly stepping onto the sand, his back towards you. A sash, tied to his waist, flaps in an invisible wind. “I know your pain. Believe me; back when I was a mere Adjuchas, still looking for my place in the world, I would get trapped in these damned sand traps every day while on the hunt and end up losing my prey! Those weren’t the best days of my life, certainly not!”

He turns back towards you. Despite his jolly demeanor his eyes seem to stare right into you, as if calculating your strength. “But what of you, little Bebe? You certainly do not smell like any Hollow I’ve seen. Or a Shinigami, for that matter!”

“That’s because I’m neither of those things!” You answer, somewhat petulantly.. “I’m a human. I, er, got lost.” You finish lamely.

A touch of wariness suddenly enters the man’s eyes. “Oh? Lost, hm? This is Hueco Mundo. You know that, don’t you Nino? This is quite a ways from home.”

“W-well. I just got really lost. That’s it. What’s your name, anyway?” You say, changing the subject.

Thankfully, the man doesn’t seem to notice, or doesn’t care. Instead, he makes an exaggerated movement of surprise, holding a hand up to his heart. He gasps, loudly. “Why, I haven’t introduced myself? How inhospitable I have been!” He makes an exaggerated bow, and with a flourish, he introduces himself.

“I am none other than Dordoni Alessandro Del Socaccio, one of the most powerful Hollows in all of Hueco Mundo! I have slain over a thousand of my brethren-“he proceeds to launch into a long spiel of his achievements, which you mostly tune out, ending with something about being “-the first to be personally chosen by Aizen-dono himself!”

You blink. “That’s… nice.” You manage to say. And, really, it must be a very nice list of achievements, for a Hollow.

You’re not all too keen on listening to a Hollow talk any more than you have to though, so you mention that you have somewhere to go, thanks for the help Dordoni-san, etcetera.

Unfortunately, he doesn’t seem to want to let you go quite yet. “You still haven’t answered my question, Nino. What are you doing out here, in Hueco Mundo? Even if you arrived here by accident, I find it unlikely that you don’t have a way back. Your secretiveness just makes you all the more suspicious.” Dordoni materializes in front of you (seriously, are you the only one who doesn’t know how to do that?) the sound of static trailing after him. “Just give me a straight answer, and I promise I’ll leave you alone, hm? A good deal, yes?”

Well, what are you supposed to say?

Looking for giant robots, in all the right places

You briefly think about telling him of the events that transpired that led you here but, you think of something far more succinct.

“I’m looking for a giant robot.” You say with all the conviction and certainty a seven-year-old could possibly have.

A beat passes by. Dordoni stares at you, blinks, then asks you to repeat what you said. After you do so, he blinks again, then says, “Nino, I’m afraid to crush your dreams, but… Giant robots don’t exist. Certainly not here, at any rate. Perhaps you mistook a Menos for-?”

“No,” you say stubbornly. “It was definitely a giant robot. Saw it in my dreams and everything. Even climbed into the cockpit.” You answer.

Dordoni, for his part, continues looking at you, totally baffled. You, on the other hand, are a tad exasperated by the fact that he seems so bewildered. What’s so unbelievable about giant robots? Giant hollows are possible. Giant Shinigami are probably possible. So why not giant robots?

You raise an eyebrow at the man, challenging him to contradict you again. In response, he asks, “Well, if you’re so sure of it, where precisely did you see this ‘giant robot?’”

Ooh, you can hear the skeptical air quotes. “In a big desert, a lot like this one. Not as white, but definitely just as dry. And believe me, it was huge. As large as a city!”

“And where, precisely, do you believe this ‘giant robot’ to be in Hueco Mundo?” Dordoni says. You point at the massive structure several miles away. His eyes slide over to where you’re pointing, and then he says, in the gentlest, sweetest town imaginable, “Bebe, there’s nothing there. I have been to those hunting grounds many times, and never have I seen any giant robot there, anywhere. Yes, there exists a large structure in the direction you’re pointing, but no robot. Now, can you end this farce and tell me why you’re really here?”

You scowl in response. Well, it’s abundantly clear that he doesn’t believe you. What now?

>Lie.
>”I can prove it’s there!”
>”Fine, it’s not a giant robot. But I still have to get to that structure.”

“I can prove it’s there!” You bluster forward. “All I need to do is get close, and, well, I don’t know what exactly’s going to happen, but I’d be willing to bet that something will!”

The Hollow raises his eyebrow again. “Really. What, precisely would you be willing to bet?” He asks, his voice dripping in amusement. “Your water? Your rations? Your life?”

Suddenly you can feel your blood boiling at his attitude and his apt refusal to believe you. “I’d be willing to bet any and-or ALL of the above!” You shout back, totally disregarding the quieting voices in your head. “If you could bring me there, I’ll do exactly that!”

A short silence passes between the two of you, you looking defiantly straight into his surprised gaze. Suddenly, the man lets out a long, loud belly-laugh and says, “Well, it’s a deal then!”

You take a step back. That certainly wasn’t what you’d expected. “W-what?”

Dordoni shoots you a shark-like grin. “I’ll bring you there. If you are unable to prove the existence of a giant robot, then you die. Simple enough for a Bebe such as yourself, no?”

“Er-“ You stammer out, before the Hollow grabs you roughly and brings you up several stories high.

“No take-backs, Nino! Those are the rules of Hueco Mundo!” He laughs, grinning all the while.
***
“Alright, Nino, here we are,” says Dordoni, stopping in mid-air. In front of the two of you stands the massive structure you had seen earlier: A huge mountain made entirely out of the same white substance the rest of Hueco Mundo seems to be made of. “As you can see, no giant robots here, or anywhere close by.” He smiles at you again.

You find it a great deal more threatening, considering the fact that his face is now only a few inches away from yours, and that you’re one wrong move away from being turned into Hollow-food.

Unfortunately, most of your higher functions aren’t precisely functioning right now. You feel like you’re about to blow chunks for the third time today after speeding across the length of Hueco Mundo, held aloft only by the whims of a Hollow far, far stronger than you.

“Well, Nino? Any further ‘clues’ as to your giant robot? Or must our bet end right here and now? Surely you must have another trick up your sleeve!” His words quickly force you to realize that no, you don’t have any tricks up your sleeves, no super-powered form for you to take advantage of. You swallow down your sickness and focus on the situation at hand.

Panicked, you scrutinize the massive mound of bone in front of you. The structure as a whole is perfectly smooth, almost like an egg with strange attachments.

The most noticeable feature of the entire thing were the various protrusions that stuck out from the pristine surface like a sore thumb. The protrusions seemed to stick out from every part of the egg; every one of them were large and flat, with enough room on them to fit any number of people. If you looked at them in the right way, they almost seemed like giant runways.

The second most noticeable thing about the structure is the top: It’s perfectly flat, like a plateau. You’re not sure what to think about that.

The third most noticeable thing was the actual location the entire structure was lying in: A massive crater. The egg was surrounded on all sides; slopes of white spread out from under it, as if the entire thing had landed on the earth a thousand years ago. The protrusions spread out even from here, attaching the base of the egg to the ground around it.

“Well? Would you like me to fly you somewhere? Or would you rather that I make your death as pain less as possible?”

You bite your lip. Well…

You frown, thinking about your options. The plateau doesn’t actually seem to have anything, and the protrusions, while interesting, don’t lead anywhere from what you can tell. Which leaves…

“The crater. Take me to the crater.”

Dordoni shrugs at your response, seemingly unimpressed. You scowl back in response, and with a hop, skip, and a bzzt, you find yourself at the very base of the giant, egg-like structure.

You frown, scanning every last inch of the area. You don’t see much of anything except for the white, glossy stone that makes up most of the crater. You walk over to the very walls of the crater, bending down to get a closer look at the area.

Nothing. Well, nothing that you can easily tell, anyway. You think that maybe, sometime in the past, the entire structure probably landed here, creating the crater itself. There’s no way to actually prove that, though, and at any rate, that doesn’t provide any proof of it being a giant robot.

You clench your teeth. You can’t have just come around here for nothing, did you? No, you refuse to believe that. Despite the sheer stink of Hollows that pervades this entire dimension, this one place called out to you like no other.

You’re going to find this place’s secrets. Your life depends on it.

“Come now, Nino, I don’t have all day! My appointment is in maybe an hour, and I certainly can’t afford to be late to it. Just admit defeat; I promise it will be absolutely painless.”

You clench your teeth harder. You carefully begin reviewing the information you have in your mind. The protrusions almost looked like runways. Could they have been runways? Sure, let’s roll with that. If that’s true, then there must have been a way for the ships to be loaded into the structure, right? If that’s true, the most likely place would be down here….

Wait. You realize that you aren’t seeing the entire structure- not by a longshot. Could there be more? It’s worth a shot.

Alright. This is your one and only chance. You can’t screw this up. If you do, you die. Closing your eyes, you kneel down, and holding your Core Drill in your hand, you dig it deep into the ground, and turn it clockwise. Reaching deep down inside of yourself, you try to recall the feeling of pure power you held back at the Kurosakis…

>Rolled: 39 vs. DC 35 = Bare Success!

You wrench out the Spiral Power from within your soul, shoving it deep into the ground. Flashes of green power emerge from your skin before traveling down your arm in arcs of lightning, sinking into your Core Drill, and then promptly being expelled back out.

You wait a second. A minute. Two minutes.

Nothing.

Just when you’re about to panic and run for it, the entire area begins to quake. Thin gashes open up along the crater, which then widen to massive fissures. Massive fountains of energy suddenly sprouts upward, further widening the fissures; you can feel the sheer heat radiating forth from them, burning at your skin. The tremors and columns of energy continue to shake and deform the earth, and you tumble over yourself, falling onto your back…

…and sliding right over the edge of another chasm.
