The year is 2032, 16 years after the release of Pokemon GO all the way back in 2016. Though the original Pokemon GO was primitive, being a simple program that caught Pokemon based on your geographical location through an AR display, it caught on like wildfire. Soon nearly everyone in the world was playing Pokemon GO, kids and adults alike. There’s even an official global Pokemon league, with regional sub-leagues scattered about. Last year, the Pokemon Company announced Pokemon GO Neon, a more advanced form of Pokemon GO, said to be much more detailed, with each Pokemon possessing an individual personality AI. As it happens, your hometown has been chosen as the prelaunch test site of Pokemon GO Neon, featuring the first generation of Pokemon. As it happens, today is the day the test begins! You are 10 years old, and your true pokemon journey begins now!

But first… Oh dearie me, I seem to have misplaced my glasses. Are you a Boy, or a Girl?

Abby! Now I remember! She seemed to be a rather curious child, to say the least! Well, grab your gear and head on down to the lab and we can get started!

You terminate your video call with Professor Eucalyptus, don your jacket and hat, and proceed to your Pokemon GO Neon starter kit. Inside is a pair of gloves and goggles, along with what looks to be a small personal computer the size of a phone, labeled Pokedex. You slip on the feedback gloves and pull the goggles around your neck. Rushing out of your room, you yell goodbye to your mother as your zoom past her and out the door. You live in the suburbs of a moderately large town, the only particularly large structure to be found being the skyscraper that belongs to the Pokemon Company. You head in that direction, seeing as the Pokemon AI Lab is on one of the lower floors of the building.

As you round a corner, you bump into Abby, and are sent sprawling. "Hey, watch where you're going, dork!" She cries, as she steadies herself on the nearby wall.

>"You watch it!"
>"Well gee, I'm sorry your highness!"

"Well gee, I'm sorry your highness!" You reply sarcastically. "I didn't know you'd be walking among us mere common folk today." Abby seems to take it in her stride, simply turning on her heel and heading in the direction of the Skyscraper. "You're going to be late for the opening of Pokemon Go Neon, Ross. You should hurry along." With that, she departs, leaving you to pick yourself up from the ground and dust yourself off. Abby never really fitted in at school, coming from a rich foreign family who moved to this town only last year, she preferred to sit by herself and fiddle with her phone rather than make friends like the rest of you. Anyone who tried to approach her was put off by her snobby and superior attitude. You shake your head and put an end to your musings about Abby, there's no time to waste when there's Pokemon involved!

Finally, you arrive at the Skyscraper and take the lift up to Floor 3, the AI Lab. Professor Eucalyptus is there to greet you, and he brings you further into the lab. "It is so good to see you, Ross! Remember how I said I misplaced my glasses? Well it turns out they were in their case all along! Now anyway, today is the day you get to choose your very own Starter Pokemon! Isn't that exciting?" When Professor Eucalyptus pauses to take a breath, you seize your chance to get a word in. "Where is everyone else? Shouldn't the other trainers have shown up?" Professor Eucalyptus puts his hand on your shoulder and sighs as you ask your question. "Well you see, you're a little late, Ross. Everyone else has already received their Starter Pokemon. We only have 3 left."

>"What? But that's not fair!"

You inquire about your three choices and Professor Eucalyptus leads you over to a table. If you were looking at it normally, you know it would be empty, but with your AR Goggles, you can clearly see the three Pokeballs resting atop it. "We only programmed one of each Pokemon, so these are the ones that the other kids left over after they picked theirs. Sorry about that Ross." You walk over to the table, admiring the Pokeballs. You know they don't exist in the real world, but they look like they're really there. With your gloves, you could even reach out and touch them. "What did Abby pick?" You ask Professor Eucalyptus as you circle the table. 'Well honestly, I'm not quite sure. I think it was a water type, but I don't know anything more than that. Your Dad was supervising the first wave, he ought to know the specifics. Nevertheless, you've got 3 choices left for you. Try tapping the Pokeballs."

You reach out with your gloved hand and tap the Pokeball on the left, and an AR pop-up appears, displaying an image of what you recognize to be a Rattatta. Tapping the middle pokeball brings up a picture of a Spearow, and the right ball shows a Weedle. You look at Professor Eucalyptus with a look of incredulity. "Sorry Ross, but that's the only three left. It would take days to program another Starter, They're more complicated than Wild Pokemon." Sighing, you reach out and grab...

...The Pokeball on the right, containing Weedle.. You hear that Bug Types evolve faster, maybe that could work to your advantage. "It's not much, but I'll take it." With a flick of your wrist, you toss the pokeball into your inventory screen, where it settles into one of your six party slots. Professor Eucalyptus claps his hands and leads you back towards the elevator. "Weedle is an excellent choice Ross, I'm sure you two will have plenty of fun together. Now head out and catch some Pokemon!" You take the elevator back down to the ground floor and exit the building, clueless as to what you should do now. You shrug and decide to head off back in the direction of your house. Halfway there, you realize that the Professor forgot to give you your starting pokeballs! Without those, you won't be able to catch any wild pokemon! As you turn around to head back and ask him, you see Abby staring you down.

"Alright Dork. You. Me. Battle." She withdraws a pokeball from her inventory and tosses it up and down a few times. "Or are you scared of losing?"

"Alright, let's battle!" You call out, as you withdraw Weedle's pokeball from your inventory. The two of you throw your pokeballs towards the ground in front of you, and watch as they bounce off, releasing the pokemon from within. Your Low Level Weedle stands firm, if standing is even the right way to describe it. Maybe it's your imagination, but it seems as though your Weedle has a determined expression on his face. Across from Weedle, you finally get to see the pokemon Abby chose, Shellder. "Shelly, Tackle!" Abby yells as she points at Weedle. The Shellder, despite not having any legs, charges towards Weedle and knocks him aside. You note that the health bar above Weedle is low. An info bubble pops up, letting you know that Weedle has two moves, String Shot and Poison Sting. Abby looks ready to shout out another command, you'd better interrupt her with one of your own.

"Poison Sting!" Weedle gets the message, and fires off a poison sting that scrapes the Shellder's shell. "Tackle again, Shelly!" Abby commands with a sweep of her arm. As the Shellder charges once again, Weedle rolls to the side, evading the attack. Then he launches another Poison Sting. That's odd, you didn't tell him to use Poison Sting again. Perhaps these battles aren't like in the games. This time, the Poison Sting not only strikes true, but poisons the Shellder. You prepare to follow it up with another Poison Sting, but Abby holds out her hands. "Stop!" She withdraws Shellder and turns to leave. "Let's call it a draw, okay?" She says stiffly.

"Sure, whatever. I guess you turned out to be the one afraid of losing." She freezes in place and starts sputtering, seemingly unable to form a coherent sentence. You walk past her and head off towards the Skyscraper. After a short walk, you arrive and take the lift back up to the AI Lab. Professor Eucalyptus is there to greet you, and brings you into the lab. "I'm so sorry, Ross. Giving you your Pokeballs completely slipped my mind! Here, take these five." He claps his gloved hands together and creates a pile of five Pokeballs, proceeding to toss them into your inventory screen. "So, been challenged to any battles yet?" He asks. 'Well I did get into a battle with Abby, but she withdrew her pokemon before it ended, so I didn't get any experience or anything." Professor Eucalyptus frowns at this, and walks over to a nearby computer. After he types in several lines of text, you receive a popup saying that your Weedle just gained some experience. "Thanks for notifying me about this Ross, that was definitely a bug with the Forfeit System. Please report anything like that to me our your Dad right away. "Vitriol, or Vit for short.” Professor Eucalyptus seems delighted by the name, clapping his hands together and smiling. “Well, I think you ought to be getting home. Your mother expected you back by Noon, I believe." He sends you on your way, and once again you exit the building, now with the means to catch wild Pokemon. As you pass by your local park on your way home, your Pokedex vibrates, and you are presented with a new AR Pop-Up. It reads: “Alert! Wild Pokemon Nearby!” It indicates the direction the Pokemon is in, and as you head to look for it, you find…

You send out Vit to battle with the Rattata, and he does a surprisingly good job with your direction. The Rattatta is nowhere near as coordinated as the Shellder, and through a well-placed poison sting, it is defeated. Satisfied with the experience gain, you head home for lunch. As you arrive, your Mother is setting out plates with sandwiches on them. You notice that she is wearing a pair of goggles like yours. "Hello Ross, how was it?"

"It was amazing! I've won two battles already!" Your Mother smiles at you and laughs slightly. "My my, you're a fine young pokemon trainer already." You both share a little laugh and start digging into your sandwiches. While you're eating, you decide to ask about the goggles. "Uh, Mom, why are you wearing those goggles?" She smiles at you again. "So I can meet your new Pokemon, of course. What kind of Pokemon is it?" You withdraw Vit's Pokeball and toss it into the air, releasing Vit in the process. "This is Vitriol, he's a Weedle, the greatest Pokemon of all time!" Vit starts climbing up onto the table, and your mother giggles. "It is very nice to meet you, Vitriol. I'm Megan. I hope we can be friends!" As soon as Vit hears this, he starts smiling and rolling around on the table. "You know Ross, you should make sure to set aside some time to play with your Pokemon every now and then. Friendship is just as strong as power levels, if not stronger." Your father talks about stuff like that all the time, how with all the complex AI going into this project, companionship with Pokemon plays a strong role. You wonder if there is any truth to that.

You finish your lunch, retrieve Weedle and head out again, to search for more wild Pokemon. You decide to head to...

You head for the grassy hill by the river, reasoning that it would be more likely to locate a wild pokemon in natural surroundings. When you arrive, you see that a girl with short, jet black hair is sitting on the riverbank, but she doesn't seem to notice you. The hill is rather large, and the Pokemon Detector rather short range, so you begin walking around in an attempt to locate a new wild Pokemon.

You toss your Pokeball and send out Vitriol, engaging the Caterpie in combat. It puts up a fight, attempting to tackle Vit, but the Weedle merely dodges and gets off a few well placed Poison Stings. The Caterpie looks quite weak, and you ready your Pokeball for throwing. Before you can catch it however, it connects with a Tackle and sens Vitriol rolling down the hill. With not a moment to waste, you throw the empty Pokeball and return Vit to his. The Pokeball captures the Caterpie and comes to rest on the grass.

>"Do they even have an Elite Four yet? I thought that comes in next month's patch."
>"I just want cool pokemon"
>>
>>42514029
>"It'd be pretty cool to be in the Elite Four."
or
>"I suppose being a Gym Leader isn't too far fetched."
>>
"I didn't know they had the Pokemon League Program out yet. Wasn't that next month's patch?" Cassie smirks. "Ah, the Pokemon League Program isn't out yet but I managed to sneak a peak. My Mom works at the Pokemon Company Building." Of course her mother works at the Pokemon Company Building, that's the entire reason for this town in the first place. "Anyway, it turns out that the strongest 4 trainers who can build their team around a specific theme get to be Elite Four, and then the strongest 8 trainers below them form the Gym Leaders. The first person to beat all 12 of them becomes the first Regional Pokemon Champion. You'd do well to study up if you want the spot." Well you've never been the best at Pokemon, but you've always been passionate about it. You'll have to consider giving it a go. "I dunno, I'm just interested in battling and Cool Pokemon, but being a Gym Leader or Elite Four Member doesn't sound half bad." Cassie beams that huge smile at you once again and says goodbye, taking off running for the other side of the hill. You'd better get going yourself, it's almost dinnertime.

Once you arrive back at home, you say hello to your Mother, have a nice dinner, and head to bed. You take Vitriol and Free out of their pokeballs and say goodnight to them, before switching off your pokedex. You take off your gloves and your AR Goggles, change into your pajamas, and dive into bed. You're asleep before your head hits the pillow.

END OF DAY 1.

Hope you enjoyed it everyone. Gonna run it same time tomorrow, maybe a little earlier.

And of course, if anyone has any questions they'd like to ask about the setting, I'd be happy to answer.

>GO THE FUCK TO SCHOOL, KID

>>42514196
Doing pretty good, OP.
>>
>>42514196
newly caught and fainted pokemon don't need to be healed? Is healing automatic?
>>
I'm surprised that in 2032, technology hasn't advanced to a stage where full gloves are needed to interact with AR objects. I expected something along the lines of a smart watch/bracelet or a ring. Sub dermal tech (under the skin) would be the ultimate in AR interaction.
>>
>>42514410
Healing isn't automatic, it just hasn't come up yet. To heal your Pokemon Team you'll need to head to a designated Pokemon Center, of which there are several. The School Bike Racks are registered as a Pokemon Center, for example.

>>42514440
The gloves also provide a sensation of touch and weight when interacting with AR Objects and Pokeballs.

>Finally, Ghastly succeeds in getting Vitriol to sleep, and finishes him off with a Lick.

>>42514188
>You take Vitriol and Free out of their pokeballs and say goodnight to them

Guess we were just saying goodnight to a fainted weedle and a caterpie near death and probably still poisoned. But it's ok cause it hasn't been brought up yet. Sorry, I like to point out continuity errors.

>>42514541
Growlithe when
>>
>>42515668
Good point.

Allow me to retcon this with my almighty powers by saying that your house acts as another pokemon center, like in the games.

>>42515681
Well either when you find the kid who picked it and somehow convince them to trade, or when you find an area that actually spawns fire types.
>>
>>42515681
Never

Bug life nigga

we just gotta find a Scyther
>>
>>42515736
We need a team full of scythers, plus Vit the Beedrill
>>
>>42516156
And a pinser

Depending on how quickly they add the newer gens, we might be able to get a Heracross and Ariados
>>
>>42516248
If the come out with gens fast enough, Volcaronas are cash.
>>
Team proposal
Caterpie line
Weedle line
Pinsir
Scyther
Paras line
Venonat line

Once they release new generation I'd recommend picking up Shuckle, Heracross, and maybe Pineco line
>>
>>42516872
I'm up for this we can become the bug gym leader.
>>
>>42516960
>bug themed Elite Four
FTFY
>>
>>42516872
That's the only 6 Bugs familly we can get with only access to first gen anyway
>>
I dont like quest threads normally way to weeb. but this shit made me laugh. someone picked magikarp.... I kekd
>>
>>42517991
He's probably going to use it to bludgeon other pokemon with until it evolves.
>>
>>42517933
As the new gens come out, we'll improve the team. As a rule, we're going to be weak to fire for a long time. We should see if we can grow berries, and farm the ones that make super effective fire moves weaker
>>
>>42518736
We'll need a shuckle, Sanskrit and larvesta/volcarona for fire resist.
>>
>>42518753
Surskit won't be really useful once it evolve however. Crustle and Armaldo could be really useful on that front
>>
>>42518786
True. Which is a shame that evo fucks up it's typing. Shuckle is the earliest not shit against fire we can get right?
>>
>>42518753
If they have megas, we should get a heracross and give it as many rock and ground moves we can. He's a good wall, will be released soon, and looks awesome.

I just realized someone got a Dratini for their starter. They're gonna be at least a gym leader
>>
>>42518905
I know. That makes me sad as a player. I would try for dragons but everyone has decided on being bug trainer.
Are the starters out in the wild?
>>
>>42518830
Yes, nothing else before then have the typing, stats or moves to take care of a fire Pokemon
>>
>>42518905
Megas probably won't come out for a while. Which means Shuckle is our best bet for anti fire with it's bug ground typing, even if it looks goofy. That said heracross is a lock too.

As for Dratini, there are only 2 ice types in gen 1 Jinx and Articuno. The only dragon types are that line of mons as well.

Dragon only trainers won't be until gen 3 at earliest.

>>42518936
Yes, but they're correspondingly rare based on element.
>>
>>42519010
Just having a dragon as a starter is a massive advantage. The guy with it could have a flying team. We're not limited to single types if we want to be part of the league, just a theme.

>>42518936
We can have a bug theme. Flygon would probably be counted as a "bug", despite its typing.

Hell, we could do a weaponry theme. Beedrill is lances, Octilory for cannon, honedge as a sword, Clawitzer artillery, ect.
>>
>>42519010
>even if it looks goofy
oi you tryin to fuckle with shuckle m8?
>>
>>42519132
Fuck no, no one fuckles with the schuckle, else it get to chuckle at their team buckles.
