After organizing the scouting expedition to Freeport and passing the appropriate orders along, you take a moment to relax and organize your thoughts.

Reconstruction of the battle damage all over Tianna is proceeding, as far as you know. It's expensive and it keeps your best people busy, but you can't not do it after all, so it's best to get done with it. And, there's probably not much you can do yourself to help: Valeriana is taking care of the technical part, and Mikahil of the logistical one, and they're both as good as they come in their respective fields.

Defense-wise, your forces are tired and depleted, but, unless you're caught completely flat-footed, you don't foresee any new danger in the immediate future. Your forces captured a lot of materiel, but it'll be a while before it can be repaired, restored and reorganized.

You lean onto a window facing eastwards and slump for a moment. There are no emergencies, no impeding doom, and nothing you need to do right now. Your trip to the Neck is planned for after the wedding, and as for the wedding itself, Amata is organizing it, so you don't really have to do anything.

That's about when you catch sight of Tia, up in the slowly darkening sky, flying towards you with wings spread. Of course, at a neckbreaking speed, as usual.

She seems to have spotted you, too, so you hurry up and quickly open the window before she plows through it.

"Maka!" She drops and rolls on the floor, loudly, reabsorbing the large feathered wings back in her body. "You went out without saying anything!"

"Well, you were sleeping." You reply. "Didn't want to disturb."

Besides, you weren't sure you could have woken her up even if you tried to. ...Well, you're partly to blame for that, okay.

"So." She jumps back up and grabs your arm, possessively. "Are we going to go shopping?"

...Where did that come from- wait. "...You mean for my dress?"

She nods eagerly, star-eyed.

>I wanted to take care of a few things here in Pearl before returning to Tianna, can you wait a bit? I'll be with you soon, promise.

>Who are we?
Maka, an exiled noble Exalted as a Zenith-caste Solar. Queen of Gem, now ruling the western island of Tianna. You have gathered a vast amount of allies and friends, and defeated every threat to Tianna up to now.
You recently discovered that Tianna is actually an artificial island, built around a First Age Titan: an almighty flying fortress. Your forces have crushed the Bodhisattva Anointed by Dark Water, a Deathlord who tried to usurp its power for himself.
Now you have built a solid power base, and worked hard to draw the attention and earn the trust of the Unconquered Sun. What will your next step be?

>Solar? Zenith? I don't know Exalted...
This quest is as newbie-friendly as possible, and I want it to work as a newbie's intro to Exalted. If you have ANY question, ask in thread. For the setting, google "1d4chan exalted".

>Archive?

>System?
Dicepool-like system. When performing an action, everyone rolls 1d10 when posting. the first X rolls are considered, where X is equal to attribute + ability.

>XP?
Attributes cost [current score x5] xp. Abilities cost [current score x3] xp, except Zenith costing [(current score x3) -1]. Charms cost 10 xp, except for Zenith-based charms (related to charisma and physical/mental fortitude) which cost 8 xp. At the end of every "session" (thread) you will be presented with a list of possible acquisitions.

"...Sorry, I... Well, I just got here to Pearl, and I had some things to take care of first, before going back all the way to Tianna." You reply, bracing for impact.

You can SEE the moment when Tia's heart shatters in a billion pieces. She deflates and droops her head, staring at the floor in pensive sadness for a few seconds, then lifts her gaze and looks at you with tearful eyes.

It's too much to bear.

"...It won't take long." You promise. "After I take care of this, I'll be all for you." And then, you gently take her chin in your fingers, pull her slightly closer, and, as you feel her breathing and heartbeat kick into turbo at once, whisper at her, as close as you can possibly be without touching: "...Don't worry. I promise I'll make up for it."

You let a bit of Essence flow out from your hidden Anima and reflect its light onto your eyes, in the shape of little golden hearts.

She stands there, frozen for a second (except for the heavy breathing), then immediately tries to jump on you.

You sidestep her.

"Makaaaaaaa." She whines, sprawled on the floor.

"My, you're greedy." You sigh. "It won't take long, I said."

She sniffs and nods.

"Good girl." You nod.

You leave Pearl briefly. There's someone you need to see next, and you've delayed enough.

You head out into the beach, relax your breathing, change clothes, and walk into the ocean.

The water is refreshingly cool, and calm. Very calm, with barely any waves.

You wonder if it's normal, or there's a reason.

You let your lungs fill with water, and let yourself drop down almost to the ocean floor, as you swim further outwards.

When you're about halfway between the shore of Pearl and the small island just outside it, you start seeing it.

At first, just faint shapes in the water, as if something transparent, nearly invisible, was moving by. Like a jellyfish. But, bit by bit, they gain substance...

...Actually, it's only one? You were expecting the whole crowd.

But... is it you, or are these shapes swimming in water... kind of a lot? More than the spirits were, at least?

You drop down, standing on the oceanic floor, feet briefly sinking in the stiff sand, and wait, nervously, feeling briefly surrounded.

"...Alright, show yourselves." You say at the swirling current. "What's with this treatment? I thought we were allies."

"There's just me here now, yes." A gentle voice replies, with a hint of amusement and a slight accent you can't quite place

Bit by bit, the turbulence shifts in color, becoming much darker and coloring itself in bright and dark blues as the spirit manifests itself.

And it's BIG. The human part of the creature would be proportionate for a giant twice your height, but you lose sight of its trailing, snakelike body, lazily coiled and sprawled all over the place, for all its length.

"Sorry, sorry, you see. I just wanted to have a good look at the divine Maka." The... goddess? Elemental? Waves a hand around dismissively, sounding clearly pleased with herself. You can see in her the same half-draconic traits Flame sported: the sign of a very powerful spiritual creature straddling the matter-spirit line, the metaphysical border between the categories of the spiritual gods and the material elementals.

"...I was expecting to find the Court of the water elementals of the shores of Tianna. Who might you be?" You ask back.

"Yes, I am sorry." She bows. "I am Glorious Tide, you see. I wanted to meet you, but I was not sure how, you understand? So I asked the Court to give me hospitality for a while."

More like she imposed on them, you think. She looks like quite the powerful elemental, and they'd be in no position to refuse her whims.

"...Well, I wanted to talk with the Court. It's a pleasure to meet you, but can it wait until after I see them?" You try being tactful.

"Oh, you can tell me." She replies nonchalantly.

"...Since when you're the leader of the Court?" You almost said "who died and made you", but caught yourself just in time realizing it would have been in terrible taste.

She shrugs noncommittally. "Couple days."

(Cont.)
>>
>>42516975
That is a good point but it would mean not spending time with Tia so I don't approve.
>>
>>42517514
I smell trouble. It smells bad.
>>
Well, even if she's technically a newcomer, it wouldn't be strange for such a powerful elemental to move into a court with no one being quite her peer and immediately assume leadership.

Of course, as for her motives...

>Why? Didn't you say you just wanted to meet me? What does the Court have to do with it?
>What did you need to see me for?
>I really need to speak to the Court. If you're their leader, can you assemble them?

>I really need to speak to the Court. If you're their leader, can you assemble them?
So she bullied her way into being the boss, I can't see the Water Court being completely against having a powerful spirit in charge and protecting them, as long as that's what she's doing and not just being boss and taking all their stuff for herself.
>>

That's my concern, I wouldn't put it past the Silver Prince to have brought a friendly elemental to smash up the local water court and get easy passage for his fleet.

Hell, this Glorious Tide might be the one who mortally wounded Flow.
>>
>>42517684
Yeah, I was just thinking the same. Pity we don't have Judge's Ear Technique.
>>
>>42517684
>Hell, this Glorious Tide might be the one who mortally wounded Flow.
most certainly, considering Flow wasn't apart of the fighting on the island or against the ships, and this elemental has been here a "couple days", which is before the battle happened
>>
>>42517541

>Then I'll speak with you.
>What did you need to see me for?

>I do hope I live up to what you were expecting. What can I do for you?

Maka needs to teach Glorious Tidesome manner, if you ask me, but politeness firt.

The (sexual) bullying will come later
>>
>>42517707

Well, if she's responsible and trying to pull a "you better have me as an ally", we definitively to teach her her place.

Can Phantom-Conjuring Performance help us put us an intimidating show against an Elemental?
>>
>>42517707
It actually has been a couple of days since the battle so it's not entirely inconceivable that she showed up like right after, obviously still suspicious timing though.

All that said, let's make sure and fact check before we face off against a possible lesser dragon like Flame.
>>
>>42517707
>considering Flow wasn't apart of the fighting on the island or against the ships
She was actually, well we don't know what happened exactly but she was attacked by Skullstone Soldiers at least

>As people around you let them through and they carefully drop her on the beach sand, next to you, you're horrified by her wounds. Half of her body seems burned off, three broken-off arrows jut out of her chest at awkward angles, and she is covered in green-reddish blood spilling out of a hideously deep wound on her chest, nearly cutting her in two. A grisly reminder of how physical, how flesh-and-blood elementals are compared to gods.
>>
>>42517877
It doesn't read like she was attacked by a Water Dragon, maybe the big deep cut, but I expect if she did fight a lesser dragon she wouldn't have gotten away or at least have taken more obviously magical wounds rather than arrows and I guess firedust shots.
>>
Come to think of it, what would happen to the water spirits of the area, if we lift the Titan in the sky? We planned to do something with the water Manse, no?
>>
>>42517936
They'd be left behind.
>>
>>42517936
We could make the water manse a sort of housing for them, they would hole up inside when we fly and come back out when we land.
>>
"Why?" You ask the elemental. "Didn't you say you just wanted to meet me? What does the Court have to do with it?"

You can see that your question catches her almost by surprise, but she quickly recovers.

"Well, the Court includes all Water elementals residing in the shoreline of Tianna, yes?" She smiles. "So now that I am here, I'm a member of the Court as well. And the Court gracefully accepted my request for leadership."

"I don't think they were in any position to refuse." You reply.

"They weren't." She sounds quite proud of it. "So I heard that you're changing how things work here, especially for the nymphs." She continues. "Get them to not drown sailors any more... Even setting up a brothel for them. That's interesting."

"Don't change the subject." You reply. "Why are you here?"

She drops the act. "An island with so many returned Princes of the Earth, who even managed to defeat the lord of Skullstone... who wouldn't be intrigued?" She grins. "Can you blame me? I wanted to know what was going on, yes."

"Did you arrive only after the battle?"

"I didn't want any trouble, so I didn't get in the way." She replies.

"So you didn't help." You glower at her. "Some of the Court have died fighting the Silver Prince. You could have helped. Maybe saved them."

"At the time I still didn't know exactly what was happening, you see. I didn't want to get involved."

"But now that the battle is won you want to side with the winner." You sigh.

"You put it so badly, you do. Is it so wrong to be careful in life?" She gently swims around you.

"I want to see the rest of the Court."

"They're hiding." She replies. "Some are scared. Many wounded."

>Bring me to them, then. (s+z)

"So first you say you're their new boss, but now you need to ask them?" Alright, you shift to threatening right now.

Leaping over the upper part of her snake body and poking her in the chest, you cower the elemental into submission, your Anima glowing through the water and playing with the reflections of her scales.

"Now listen really well, Tide, because I'm going to say this only once. The Court fought for me, against the Silver Prince. They stood their ground. Flow died trying to bring me critically important information. Meanwhile, you were just sitting on the sidelines and watching. You know what that means?"

She whimpers, caught speechless, and backs up away from you.

"It means that I don't care if you're an elder elemental or if you took over the Court. I don't care. I want to talk to the others. And you will either bring them here, or, if they can't move, you will bring me to them."

"Y-yes." She lowers her head.

"And one last thing." You glare at her. "I'm in charge here, not you. If you want leadership of the Court, it's me you need to ask. And, until you prove yourself, you can forget about it."

"...Yes. Sorry." She replies, then slowly lifts her head.

"Is there something you want to say?"

"I... I wanted to be on your side. Tianna... with the return of the Solars, I think Tianna can be the start of a great power to rule over the West."

"That's the plan." You nod. "But you wanted to be sure that we would win against the Silver Prince. You wanted to be sure the horse you wanted to bet on had very good chances. That's why you showed up only after the battle."

"...Yes." She admits.

"The Court didn't have that leisure."

"...I understand, yes. ...I'll go get someone from the Court." She adds, slithering away meekly.

You try and calm down. No sense staying mad.

While Tide brings back someone from the Court, you try and collect your thoughts.

>I don't trust her. I want her out of my island.
>She needs to prove herself. I'll leave it up to her how.
>She needs to prove herself. I'll ask her to do (what?).
>In the end, she didn't do anything bad, she was just overly careful. I think I'll accept her.
>I'll take a decision after talking with someone from the Court.
>(Other?)
>>
>>42518364
>She needs to prove herself. I'll leave it up to her how.

She doesn't seem like a bad person, per se, just kind of a douchebag. She'll need to learn that she isn't going to be able to just skate by on Tianna's coattails without pulling her weight.
>>
>>42518364
>She needs to prove herself. I'll leave it up to her how.
She's not evil, just not knowing how to do things a good way.
>>
>>42518364
>>She needs to prove herself. I'll ask her to do (what?).
>I'll take a decision after talking with someone from the Court.
She's way to valuable to just kick out and it's not like I don't get staying out of a fight if she can help it, but trying to take over the Water Court afterwards was too much, I say we leave it up to the rest of the Nymphs, she's got to earn their trust and loyalty as well as ours. If she can do that in say a year or so we'll accept her permanently as our ally.
>>
>>42518364
>She needs to prove herself. I'll leave it up to her how.
>>
>>42518364
>>I'll take a decision after talking with someone from the Court.

What she did was understandable. Some of Maka's allies are only so because of the reward she promised, after all, and it's understandable an outsider wouldn't want to side with anyone in a conflict, putting themselves at risk, when they can just walk out if they don't like the outcome.

And Maka forgave people hundreds of time worse for things hundreds of time more damaging to her.

However, taking over the weakened Court and then acting all mighty, "I'm you're new buddy" style is not how you do thing.

She will have to prove what she's worth, in my opinion, but first, let's talk to the Court
>>
>>42518364
>I'll take a decision after talking with someone from the Court.

More info please.
>>
>>42518364
>She needs to prove herself. I'll leave it up to her how.
>I'll take a decision after talking with someone from the Court.

We might have been a little bit harsh. While Tide's casual attitude about staying out of it doesn't win her any points, being a bit hesitant to jump nearly blind into a fight with multiple Deathlords is pretty understandable. It seems like a case of bad timing.
>>
>>42518364
>She needs to prove herself. I'll leave it up to her how.
>I'll take a decision after talking with someone from the Court.

I'm willing to provisionally accept that she might be useful, but I want to talk to the original Court and learn more about how exactly she made her entrance.
>>
>>42518456
>I say we leave it up to the rest of the Nymphs, she's got to earn their trust and loyalty as well as ours.
I like this actually, on the WC's okay we can put her in charge of them provisionally and if she takes care of them, protects them, and earns their trust I'm okay with her.

>>42518525
I'm not too mad at her about staying out of the fight, but that and being boss of the Court are different things.
>>
>>42518323
Maka is so fucking cool.
>>
>>42518323

>>
>>42518364
>I'll take a decision after talking with someone from the Court.
>She needs to prove herself. I'll ask her to do (what?).
We're going to be involved with naval operations on significant scale when we take control over neighboring island states and launch the campaign to take over Skullstone - a powerful water elemental's assistance would be valueable. She could take care of safety of our merchant ships or provide support if we encounter hostile see spirits.
>>
>>42518364
>She needs to prove herself. I'll leave it up to her how.
>>
>>42518364
>She needs to prove herself. I'll ask her to do (what?).
I kinda get the feeling if we leave it up to her she's going to want give us treasure and stuff, while it's nice I'd rather she just promise to take care of the Water Court in Flows place. I'll totally take all the sunken treasure though
>>
>>42518456
>>42518732
I like both of these. There are plenty of ways we can use her, and if she becomes responsible, it would be good to have her with the Court.
>>
>>42518525

I don't think Maka was harsh. While not jumping in the fight is understandable, wanting to reap the benefit from the alliance with Maka while she did nothing to be called an ally is not something we should consider okay.

It's a bit like having a military unit save thousands of people and lose its commanding officier in a battle, and when after the battle a new one is appointed he just goes "man, we did so great. Where's my medal?"

I don't doubt Tide has the potential to make a good ally, it's simply that she's trying to make herself considered as one de facto. Which is ballsy, since if the Water Court had called for help in dealing with this conquering bully, we'd have punched her until she relented.
>>
>>42518364
>I'll take a decision after talking with someone from the Court.
>>
>>42518841
Yeah, and as a Solar - especially a Zenith - it's one of our duties to keep spirits in line.
>>
>>42518364
>She needs to prove herself. I'll ask her to do (what?).

Just make sure she takes good care of the court. I don't think much else is needed.
>>
>>42518841
I know, that's why I said only a little bit too harsh.

Bear in mind, though, how differently Elementals think compared to us. It's pretty likely that Tide (and maybe even the nymphs) consider that sort of abrupt, casual takeover to just be a direct aspect of her station, on the same level as a worker walking on to a job site and picking up tools.
>>
I think that it's important to make the distinction between her being our ally and her being in charge of the Court. As other said, she's probably incredibly useful in all things concerning naval activities, sunken ships and treasure and the like, not to mention she seems to have traveled quite a bit (probably making her knowledgable in the state of other water spirit groups or individuals), but that doesn't justify giving her the Water Court by itself.

Mmmh, I wonder if her accomplising a collection of thematic, epic tasks would help her legitimity.
>>
>>42518364
>She needs to prove herself. I'll ask her to do (what?).
>Help with Father Ocean's quest

I feel kinda bad for her, but eh.
>>
>>42518976

Well, if a worker who wasn't under contract walked on a job site and started picking up tools, the security people would try to make them go away as soon as they notice, even possibly calling the cops because some creep is messing around a private proprety.
>>
>>42518983
She's an elder elemental, yo. That's how the elemental courts work.

Doesn't mean we can't kick her teeth in if she fucks it up, but she's strong enough to usurp the thing.
>>
>>42518976
You may be right, which is why it's important to talk to the rest of the court and ensure that things are being done properly, whatever "properly" actually means.

It might be wise to, if possible, talk with some of the representatives away from the court, and remind them that we're a Solar who makes war with Deathlords, so if they have an issue with some uppity Lesser Dragon, they should be honest with us.

Not long after Tide left, she returns, with a small, sharp-toothed elemental in tow.

"...And so then she said, there's no way you can do it again! And then, and then I wanted to prove her wrong, so I did- oh, Exalted Maka!" The elemental interrupts whatever tale she was telling (which was visibly boring Tide out of her skull) and bows to you.

"Little Shell." You greet her, recognizing her and remembering her name after a moment of thinking. "Nice to see you're all right. How's everyone else?"

Shell sombers up. "All over the place. The girls from the west coast here all hurt, more or less, and Shabu and Verdant are dead. In the east coast we lost Flow..."

"Yeah, I know."

"...Also Kilika, Other Shabu and Sandwave. The others are pretty much fine, though some are wounded."

From thirty elementals to twenty-five. Looking at it in as detached a way as possible, those losses aren't as bad as they could have been, and still a lot better than your ground forces suffered.

"...I'm sorry for your loss."

"We did what we had to do, you know." She nods, and switches back to cheerful again. "But you know, since then elementals from around the place have been wanting to join and moving here. Isn't that cool?"

"Like Tide here?"

"Well, Tide's the biggest of them." She looks up to the huge elemental, who seems rather embarrassed from being talked about while she's standing like two meters away, but tries to ignore it. "But word's going around that Solars are building an empire and crushed the Silver Prince."

"And of course, as all rumors, they're going to get bigger and more outrageous with each retelling." You sigh.

Well, spiritual politics between gods and elementals are complex, but move along at a comparatively slow pace, since they are immortal. The meteoric rise to fame and importance of Tianna must have wrecked chaos in their worldview, and of course a lot of them will be paying a lot more attention to you now.

(cont.)
>>
Having weaker, simpler elementals joining the Court makes a lot of sense... they're the ones who generally lack an established power base or powerful beings protecting them, so they're more mobile. And especially Nymph-type water spirits, owing to their, relentless sexual appetite which leads them to kidnap sailors and the like... if the right rumors are going around, they should be flocking to Tianna in large numbers. Probably partly because of the promise of making the small island in front of Pearl into a haven-manse for them, and partly because of you.

But Tide? Such a powerful Elemental throwing her hat in your ring? She must be either really ambitious, or lacking political power despite her spiritual standing. Or a mix of the two.

...She must have noticed that the tides were turning.

No, you can't say that out loud. That was too corny. But you'll allow yourself a quiet, private giggle.

...Actually, maybe, carrying that name and being a water elemental, she IS prone to "going with the tide" and siding with whoever seems to be the rising star of western politics? Just a guess.

"So is Tide your Court's boss now?"

"I guess?" Shell shrugs, looking up at her. "She is the biggest."

"That's how it works with you?"

"A bit." She nuzzles at your side, looking up at you with a lascivious grin. "You're still the boss in bed, though. That thing you did with your-"

"If you accept Tide as your Court's chief, then I'm alright with that, but she didn't do anything to prove herself yet." You bring the conversation back on track. "For now, I'll accept her as long as you vouch for her, but I'll expect her to be making herself useful in some way. Until then..." You smile at the dragon-elemental, "You're on test, let's say. If there's any problem, of any kind, let me know.."

"Yes." Tide nods. "I won't let you down. I promise."

"I'm sure you won't." You reply. "And of course, if you do good, you'll be... rewarded."

She gulps and nods nervously.

You stay around underwater for a few more minutes, hearing from Little Shell about the other spirits, how they're doing, and the newcomers, and invite them all to your wedding.

Then, you leave and return to the surface. Shaking the last of the water off you on the beach of Pearl, you think about what to do next.

If you return to the Manse, Tia will understandably want to go on her shopping trip with you. Well, you did promise.

1) he would be physically bound to the manse. Even a city god isn't bound to his domain, generally.
2) he would be the one handling most of the Manse's function. A god doesn't have that level of hands-on control on his domain.

You sneak back into the Manse and head for the core chamber, deep underground. The vast marble hall with the golden sunburst disc embedded in the ground, where the essence flows of the local geomancy focus.

"...How did you know I was here?" A disembodied voice asks you.

"Lucky guess." You smile, looking at the little god as he materializes before your eyes. "So why ARE you here?"

He shrugs nonchalantly. "Still making my Sanctum. Until then, I'll be here. It's got nice Essence."

"Are you hurt?"

"I think I'll have Golden Reach grow its own AI over time, so you can focus on the city." You explain to him. "Besides, Flame is going to take care of the Titan, so don't you worry."

"Oh." He replies, flatly. "Okay."

Yeah, sounds like he still needs to adjust. "...So how's your Sanctum coming along?"

"Until we get more of a city, slowly."

"...How's Yaraon?"

"He's alright."

"Anytime you want..." You pat his head. "For anything you need, you can ask me. And you can stay here in the Manse until your Sanctum is ready."

Some Dragon-Bloods in the north tried to make a computer play Gateway, and they probably got some old First Age AI bits in there and now it's about as smart as Amata.

You give a sweet goodbye kiss to your little god and then head to a different part of the Manse: Pyre Spark's room.

The surprise in seeing you all of a sudden at her doorstep nearly makes the sun priestess faint. "Divine Maka?! You're back in Pearl!"

"Yes, sorry." You let yourself in. The room is very well furnished, evidently with items brought all the way from Tianna, and quite cute and girly. Pots and vases full of all sort of colorful, sweet-smelling flowers litter the place. "It's been very busy up to now, I've been all over the place."

"You're wounded!" She notices, going over your body with scrupulous care.

"Oh? Just a little bit. It's healing quickly, don't worry." You have to basically restrain her from going to fetch bandages and medicine. "I'll be alright! I'll be alright! Don't worry. Besides, did you hear? We're organizing my, Tia and Amata's wedding!"

That does set the mood. "My! Congratulations!"

"A lot of details are still being set, and the day might change as well... but we were wondering if you, as a priestess of the Unconquered Sun, wouldn't mind being the one to officiate it."

"M-ME?!" She almost faints again. "B-but, divine Maka, I'm hardly the most qualified-"

"You're the most qualified person around, and even if you weren't, I wouldn't want anyone other than you, there, marrying us."

"I...I, my." She sits down on the edge of the bed and catches her breath. "Really? But... I wouldn't even know what to do."

"I'll leave it to you." You take her hand and give it a gentle squeeze to reassure her. "I have complete faith in you."

I don't think she can get any cuter.

I'm still curious about why she got gold eyes, but Regis and Milly didn't.

>I'm still curious about why she got gold eyes, but Regis and Milly didn't.
It's probably some custom charm she has - but might not realize she has yet - that has an outward manifestation. But yes, we should ask. Hopefully she can see spirits now. That would make her extra useful as a priestess.

That or she was close to awakening her essence anyway due to her spirituality and that means she has even more essence to play with due to Maka's help
>>
>>42521303
That wouldn't result in a physical change like that.

And she didn't seem at all close to a spiritual enlightenment. That requires a lot more than mere faith.
>>
Pyre also may have gotten, shall we say, an 'enhanced dosage' when awakened. Maka was a bit more thorough when kissing her, after all.
>>
>>42521420
The kissing is incidental, based on the way the charm is written. Maka just does it that way because it has panache.
>>
>>42521470
Pyre also got the golden eyes before things went further.
>>
"So, how's the situation with the cult and everything?" You ask her, sitting down beside her on the bed.

"W-well... The losses in the battle have been severe, but seeing you and the other Chosen of the Unconquered Sun do battle so gallantly has reassured many of the more doubtful among the population. The cult is growing, and even some of the Steelshard mercenaries are converting."

"Sounds good." You smile. "You did a good job."

"I... I didn't do much, and some of these new converts have... often bizarrely wrong ideas on the cult and the Unconquered Sun Himself, but they're learning, bit by bit."

"Oh? What kind of ideas?" That sounds like an amusing story.

"Some of them assume I can heal the sick, or speak with the dead. Several have wondered if being tanned or dark-skinned is a requisite... one soldier wondered if converting would make her breasts grow."

You roll your eyes. "Wonder where she got that idea. Anything else? I've been wondering for a while..."

"Yes?"

"Do you have any idea why your eyes changed color when i gave you the Kiss of the Sun and Awakened your Essence?"

She looks at you, blushing "...Is it so noticeable?"

"Well, they're pretty bright." You smile.

She shakes her head. "I honestly don't know if it means something special. I thought it was... well, normal? At least, a part of... what happened."

"I'd think so too, but neither Regis nor Millian gained your sort of eyes."

"Yes, I noticed." She admits. "But I don't know what significance this has, if anything."

"Seen anything strange? Anything you had never seen before?" You try.

"Nothing I can think of." She replies. "Maybe... Only one thing, my dreams have been a lot more vivid."

"What did you dream?" You ask, already knowing the answer.

"Flowers." She smiles. Of course it was flowers.

"...Well, if anything unusual happens, let me know."

"Will do, Lady Maka."

You ruffle her hair a bit. "Do you need anything, while I'm here?"

"...Can you stay with me?" She asks.

"Good girl." You give her a light kiss, and she almost melts in your hands. "I won't be gone for long, don't worry."

Finally, you return to Tia, whom you find huddled in a corner, hugging her knees.

But she brightens up all of sudden the moment you enter the room.

Quite literally, flaring her Anima, which is all the forewarning you get before she tackles you with full grappling charms. If the Manse's construction wasn't super robust, she'd have made a crater and maybe accidentally suplexed you all the way to the ground floor.

"Oof." You slap on Tia's side to signal her to let you go. "Give, give. Uncle, uncle."

She lets you go, almost entirely, still holding your hand. And clearly refusing to let go, "We going?"

"Yes." You reply, rubbing the back of your neck, still hurting. "We going."
