>Brock Carter was an average college slacker, until he was chosen as the heir to the Joker. Why? Nobody knows!

>It's the morning after the gang's last crime- an attack on the local police holding facility to break out some captured men.

Once Professor Coal is on her way back home, Dwayne looks at you. "Watch it with that one, chief. There's something wrong with that one."

On the television, a new show is beginning- one of Gotham's local political commentators. She is a perfect picturesque blonde, but she lacks the empty grin of the other talking heads.

Although her face carries a sad, determined look, her eyes are cold and calculating.

"Good morning Gotham, I'm Patricia Cris. And let me tell you something Gotham, I am scared. I am scared of the state of this city we are raising our children in. And I know you're scared too."

"THREE. ATTACKS. IN. AS. MANY. WEEKS. PEOPLE. " She slaps the desk hard to emphasize each word. "You know who I'm talking about. THE JOKER. Everyone in this city acts like they're afraid to even say his name. Just what are our police DOING out there?

This man is a MENACE. He has this city wrapped around his finger and people like Gordon are content to let him POISON YOUR CHILDREN.

Let me show you something, Gotham..." She stands, revealing a short skirt made to show off her legs, and the camera cuts to a large marker board. She begins making a diagram showing the flow of money through the Gotham PD and a number of businesses, before Dottie clicks the TV off.

"Bitch," she says under her breath.

"Alright boss," says Dwayne. "We've got everyone back together. What's your next plan? You wanna do something about that jewelry, or have you got something else in mind?"

>well Boss?
>>
>>42542124

Forgot muh trip
>>
>>42542124
Start planing out a total criminal takeover of the city. whats standing in our way, the mafia?
>>
>>42542301
Boring! It would also mean the bats would have nobody else to focus on. Nonono, I say we need to celebrate our recent success!

An underground rave, some racing tracks. Enough psychedelics to make the scarecrow blush.
And fireworks! Yes, it will be Red's chance to show he is up to the task, yellow flower ones and roman candles and a really big one. Maybe under a liquor store, those always burned nicely!
>>
>>42542124
We need to either take out or break Top Hat since we can't keep him as is
>>
Writing
>>
We should break into the actual news room and make fun of how the news anchors go from one horrible topic to light hearted stuff.
Control the media, control Gotham.
>>
>>42542677
Thats an idea, hack into it, dress up in an early 90's reporter (Pen, a little notebook and one of those hats with a note saying "press" in them.

Then cut to, I dont know. A beauty contest. Everyone likes the Ms. Gotham contest, right?
>>
>>42542786
And we even have some jewelry for the winner.
Or simply for the contestants to wear and the winner gets to keep em? That sounds fair I think
>>
>>42542786
I was thinking we just take over the studio.

Tell them to clear out Arkham or we cancel Gotham News permanently.
>>
>>42542786
>Dress up exactly like Clark Kent

Yeeeeees.
>>
Let's actually deal with the jewelry. Keep an emerald and amythest ring for nick nacks.
>>
>>42542892
So, let me get this straight. Your plan does not include: Playing dressup, creating some terrible news to contrast with the lighthearted stuff later, kidnapping models and making them wear stolen jewelry as they participate in a beautycontest while wearing clown makeup.
There is also a lack of implied explosions which I frankly find disturbing.
>>
anyway that we could attack the power grid, i don't think joker usually does after things like that and a month or two of darkness would really do wonders for the city
>>
>>42542124
Quest goes in the subject line.
>>
>>42542124

"A celebration." you say. "Somewhere underground, out of the way. We can get Red to do some of the pyrotechnics.

Besides, we can't let Top Hat keep going like this. This will mean he has to come to us, in front of the rest of the gang."

"We've got a section of the old Gotham subways some of our guys hang out in. They were abandoned back when they redid the system a few years back. They ran out some small fry's gang a few months back," says Dwayne. "We can get a party scheduled for this Friday night. I'll get in touch with the rest of the gang and set things up."

Dottie speaks up, "No rooftops, either. Less risk of Bats with no open sky."

"By the way, Boss," adds Dwayne. "Hope you don't mind, but I took a look at Top Hat's report. Most if it was kind of over my head, but I think I can get the gist of it. I'd wager he wrote the thing to be impenetrable on purpose.

The way it looks, the majority of the gang'a money came from a handful of underhanded deals with some of Gotham's local companies. Most of the street level money gets spent as soon as its earned. Top Hat had guys doing chemical disposal, insurance fraud, and a few other shady things. Guess he was good for one thing.

He wasn't lying when he said the income projections were dropping though. In fact, they plummet as soon as you were declared Boss. It looks like those deals he brokered have all gone elsewhere.

If you're looking to keep operating the way the old boss was, you'll have to do something about it. Soon."

You're party is scheduled, but now you're got something else to think about.

Dottie asks, "so what are we doin' in the meantime, Boss?"

>what do you want to do for the meantime?
>>
>>42542976
All of those things can happen.

I just wanted to take out those smug anchors.

I bet the executives will even keep it going so they're ratings will go up.

They make us look like choir boys in comparison.
>>
>>42543105
*snaps fingers' You sir are a genius!

The anchors can judge the beauty pageant, that way we get to fuck with them and we get unbiased judges.
Two bats with one bomb!
>>
We need to meet with tophat and get our shit in order
>>
I think we should look into alternative funding sources. Probably stuff that Top Hat, the cops, and most importantly the batman would probably not peg us to tap into. Maybe we can "borrow" some people to help us set up a white collar operation. At the very least we can use it to help fund our more ambitious operations.
Also consult with Spike and see if he dug anything up on ol' topper.

You've had more than one chance to get this right, OP.
>>
>>42543091
What about a kidnapping/ransom of a famous Gothamite? Start Spike tracking some famous Gothamites that travel for business for future fake kidnappings.
>>
Alright, lets get back to business.
according to >>42543091
our finances took a dive as we took over, this simply is not acceptable. Just because we arnt the famous Joker doesnt mean that Toppie can slack off this way, the old clown would probably have killed him out of principle.

How about something like an announcement at the party going along the lines of "hey toppie, you have one week to fix that shit or you volunteer for the Apollo Joker project."
>>
>>42543403
"I got it! We'll kidnap Bruce Wayne!"
>>
>>42543760
Yeah! A pretty boy billionaire is probably too confident he's untouchable for his own good. Let's knock him down a few notches.
>>
>>42543091

You leave Dwayne to his preperations, and go off to consult with Dottie.

"We need to do something about our funds. Something neither Top Hat nor Batman will pin on us. Something white collar. "

She shrugs. "That's a bit beyond me. We might talk to Spike. Something with computers, I guess."

You continue, "I don't know what Topper's doing, but the fact that our funds have fallen so much is unacceptable. The old boss would have killed him outright for this, I'd wager."

"Those news anchors... Dottie, have Spike look into them. What do you know about ransoms, Dottie?"

She shuffles a bit. "We've done it a few times. What do you want to know about it, Boss?"

>What do you want to know?
>>
>>42543799
>What do you want to know?

"Why won't OP tag his quest threads?"
>>
>>42543799
Stockholm syndrome is a hell of a drug.
>>
>>42543760
Naah, I'd still say we do the beauty pageant, it will provide entertainment for the party, we get to dress up as clark kent and fuck with those ice cold news reporters.

I mean, I'm trying to find a drawback here.
Its hilarity to do, its hilarity to prepare and its biting social satire.

And equally as important, it keeps showing our image down everyone's throats
>>
>>42543799
>"I want to know where that pretty boy billionaire Bruce Wayne is. I bet he would be worth quite the ransom, enough so that we could run for months without needing to rob a single penny more. Doesn't mean we won't."
>>
>>42543847
Because you touch yourself.
>>
>>42543856
could run it as a faux auction, but with ransom money demands instead.
>>
>>42543871
>I rub meta over my face like a lotion, so i can show it at every opportunity to all
>>
>>42543874
Nah, I already tested that by holding out after the second time he forgot.
>>
>>42543881
10/10, actually laughed. I like it! Alot
>>
>>42543929
How exactly do you tag without it showing up in the title field?
>>
>>42543871
We should kidnap and ransom the First Families of Gotham.

Wayne, Kane, Crowns, Cobblepot and Elliot.

We get Penguin's participation but we make him pretend he's a victim so he can be our inside man when Bats comes to the rescue.
>>
>>42543894
Hey we need money. Might as well go straight to the top and NONE of these threads EVER go anywhere near batman regardless of the site of the protagonist.
>>
>>42543987
Its the third thread and not even the third heist.

Wait for it to ramp up then sure, go full speed ahead, but rushing in now is just going to end up with Mr.J as a jailbird.

We really need to start learning how to fight.
>>
>>42543799

"I've got an idea for some entertainment for the party. A beauty pageant. Or maybe an auction. We get the contestants up on stage, and auction them off for ransom money."

"Sure boss, but... what does that have to do with the anchors?" She gives you a questioning look.

>well?
>>
>>42544034
"Who do you think is going to be the judges panel?"

We basically get them say between left and right as they eat candy, force them to smile and announce peoples names and ransom.
>>
Saying "lets kidnap Batman" is like saying "why don't we just jump straight to the last boss at lv.1"
>>
>>42544034
Their the judges!
>>
>>42544034
I'm kind of curious how we could make this work out myself. Maybe we could blackmail the news anchors instead. They sound like the kind of people who have something to hide.
>>
>>42544067
Second.

Altho, perhaps silly notion. Winner of the pageant gets away without having to pay the ransom? I mean, it wont be a large loss and it would encourage some actual competitive spirit.
A reason for everyone to put some effort into and just not stand there like boring sobs who want to go home
>>
>>42543970
That's where you put it.

> [Quest] Midnight in Gotham: Issue #n

Then people who have quests sent to the top of the catalog see your quest there, and people who have quests hidden don't see it.
>>
Just make sure to dab them a touch with joker venom so they are forced to smile, but don't go into full keel over mode.

Oh and when were done broadcasting, everyone scatters to various safe houses with the hostages. Because sitting still would be lunacy. Maybe rig the auction building to blow when the bat pays a visit?

>>42544161
Sounds like a good idea. We have to make sure they are all the prettiest clowns on show though, get some of the gang to sit in the stands as the audience.
>>
>>42544184
Not the OP but thanks, might need that for later
>>
>>42544073
You're meta gaming.
>>42544030
You're meta gaming.
>>
>>42544304

>>
>>42544034

"Celebrity judges, of course."

She seems relieved. "Alright, sure. I'll put in a call; they'll be there."

You keep going, barely hearing her. You're lost in your vision. "And the winner is released without having to pay the ransom. It's only fair, and it'll keep the show interesting. I don't want the girls crying on stage; it'll bring everyone down.

And get me in touch with Coal; maybe we can get some weak Joker Venom mixed up just in case they won't smile."

Dottie nods. "Got it boss. Kidnap the news anchors, kidnap some girls, dress 'em up, and put on a show.

And I'll have Spike look into some alternative revenue streams. And somewhere for ransom call-ins."

"Yeah...Miss Gotham. It's gonna be a blast...."
>>
>>42544326
You're shitposting.
>>
This is either gonna go really well, or really shitty.

>>
>>42544488

In a gothem quest no less.
>>
>>42544448
We should also check on what our 'allies' against the Bat are up to.

Two face, Ivy, Penguin, Clayface, Zzaz,, Bane, Scarecrow and everyone else.

I wonder why they aren't pulling anything?
>>
>>42544522
You're dodging a post about kidnapping billionaires because you're concerned with meta gaming knowledge.
>>
>>42544663
Well, unless you want to see Wayne in a swimsuit and clown makeup (shudder) I suggest you leave that bit alone yea? And I doubt anyone is dumb enough to just pick random girls off the street and hope they are worth the effort (ok, maybe a few to get a good number of participants, but thats it!)
>>
>>42544602
This is actually a good idea, but we need to be sneaky about it as they will probably call us on not being the original joker.
>>
>>42544735
Which is prolly the reason they haven't been around, they know we're not the Joker
>>
>>42544760
Yea, and I'm fairly sure their thoughts right now go along the lines of
"Oh for fucks sake cant you shut up for five minutes, people are trying to make money here"

Over the next few days, your team gets to work. The whole gang is called in to the subway tunnels, which are prepped and wired up for a party.

It's noon the day of the party, and Dwayne drives you out. He guides you down an old access door, the seal from a weld that once sealed it broken. You head through the dark tunnels by flashlight, spraypainted arrows guiding you.

Finally, you arrive at the party. The stage has been set up in front of an elevated area, where the control booth and your own seats are located.

The room is covered in blacklight paint, but regular industrial lights are currently illuminating the worskspace while everyone prepares.

Spike comes up to you; even through his white facepaint you can see how red his face is. He is so angry, you begin to worry about the state of his heart.

"Boss, can you PLEASE tell that woman I need to set up for the broadcast? I'm the one who handles broadcasting, not her."

Dwayne sighs. "Spike, we go through this every time. You know Holly likes to have her people handle her broadcasts."

It seems the elusive Holly is here.

>what do you do?
>>
>>42544735
Well I didn't mean personal visit to each one (yet)

Just status updates. Are they in Arkham/Blackgate? Have the set up shop?
When did they each go up against the Bat, and how did he foil them?
>>
>>42544872
Let me speak with Holly. For now work on something else Spike.
>>
>>42544872
Calm down bud, let me talk to Holly about this
>>
>>42544735
>>42544760
You're looking at this the wrong way.

We were told this kind of thing happens. Joker dies, picks a new Joker. That means that we now know something: The Joker is a Legacy villain. Like The Flash, or Robin. We have no evidence that the Joker who picked us was the original Joker.

We're the Joker now. They can deal with us, or deal with it.

>>42544872
"Are my boys and girls squabbling? Are there not enough toys to share? Spike, let Holly have her fun. You got the last two, didn't you? We'll let her have this one, and Uncle Joker will get you something even better next time. Knock, knock some sense into Spike while I pow-wow with little Miss M.I.A. Not literally. Unless you have to."

Walk off, calling over your shoulder "Play nice, boys! Or don't, it's more fun that way!"

Dwayne, make sure Spike's heart doesn't explode. I'm going to go talk to little miss M.I.A."

Spike keeps huffing and puffing, but he nods and lets you go. Dwayne takes him on, and you continue up to the control center.

You recognize Holly immediately. She's a tall, leggy woman in a short polka-dotted dress and perfectly-styled head of long pink hair. Her clown makeup is clearly professionally applied; subtle and less garish than some of your other gangmembers.

She is looking over a computer technician in whiteface, giving him orders. When she sees you, she smiles.

"Mister Joker!" she cries, sprinting over to you and catching you in a hug. "I'm so glad we finally get a chance to meet." A wink. "Again."

"I've been overseeing your presentation tonight. I've always admired your flare for theatrics, and I've always done my best to bring your vision to life.

I've arranged for your guests to be here soon. Everything is ready for you. Of course, you're welcome to look over anything you'd like.

You always have the final say."

She tweaks your bowtie and smiles again.

>what do you do?

Well let's look over what she's got set up.
>>
>>42545497

"Alright, Holly. Let me see what you've got so far."

She takes you by the hand and leads you past her computer station. "You've seen the control center, of course. I've got my man routing the signal and monitoring the cameras. I can have him burn you a recording afterwards if you like." She winks at you again.

"How exactly are you routing your signal, Holly? Will we have to worry about the Bats tracking the signal and ruining the party? I don't want any party crashers."

"I've got connections; don't worry. There's nothing for him to track. It'll be transmitting across all channels within the city."

She takes you down the stairs, showing you her cameramen, and takes you into a curtained-off area nearby.

Seven crying women in dresses are bound and gagged in chairs in colored full-length dresses, as Dottie covers their faces in clown makeup. Their hair is done up, with a few of them having already had their hair spraypainted in bright candy colors.

"And here," says Holly proudly, "are our stars."

Dottie looks at her, scowls, and continues her work.

"As you can see, I've got everything ready. All you have to do is do the introduction. I'm sure you have a lot of important work to do tonight."

"Well, Mister Joker? Is everything to your liking? Do you have any questions?"

>Well Mister Joker?
>>
>>42546280
see if we can get some one on one time with holly, see what her motivations are / explain how we want to do things as the new joker away from prying eyes
>>
>>42546280
I think we need to establish some things with her, mostly her operating alone like this with her own crew needs to stop. We need to have information on how she gets this stuff.
>>
>>42546319
>how we want to do things as the new joker
seriously though what are our motivations or goals, it really seems we are just causing chaos as something to do (like as a distraction for the real joker)
>>
>>42546346
I have no problem with her doing things herself.
>>
>>42546365
You need to look at as if she's Topper, if she's on too loose of a chain she'll make powerplays.
>>
>>42546354
We're basically winging it right now, cause we are a college slacker suddenly placed at the head of a huge crime gang. We don't have an real goal yet, we mainly just hoping the old boss isn't dead and will comeback soon. And that he doesn't decide to kill us for some reason.
>>
>>42546354
Honestly, I have no Idea whats going on. Figured it would open dialogue for us to figure out who we are as a character.

I've noticed that the MC doesn't seem to enjoy killing people as much as the original joker and it seems to be setting the crew at edge a little.
>>
Please put Quest in the title so you're not filter dodging. Thank you.
>>
>>42546413
Yeah... I don't think so
>>
>>42546354
I think we're starting to see the gang as friends, dunno what that means about our goals.
>>42546416
Personally i think the joker was doing a shit job at running a gang.
>>
>>42546431
oh look, this post again
>>
>>42546438
What makes you think that? Dottie obviously dislikes her, and Dottie's on the level. It could be a girl thing but it could be that Holly is manipulating things.
>>
>>42546354
Right now its basically a case off "Make alot of fuss so people dont think the joker has been replaced and show our crew that we are capable"

>>42546346
I disagree, aslong as she does what we want done in the time frame we set we really should let her do her own thing.
Trying to micro manage everything ends up badly, she does a good job so let her keep doing it.
>>
>>42546438
>>42546444
>>42546426
>>42546416
>>42546413

So how do we want to really do things as a character? Are we trying to emulate the joker, or do our own thing? Killing, Is it bad or only when it happens to our guys? How do we plan to deal with inevitable betrayals or dealing with batman?

So on and so forth.
>>
>>42546505
The problem with that is we don't know her
>>
>>42546507
I think we're leaning toward doing our own thing, but emulating the Joker as best we can.
Basically killing is bad, but we understand it is going to happen. We seem like we want to avoid killing, if we were cool with killing the bait boom in the last thread would have been real. I think we are going to keep trying to avoid killing until people start to think we're soft, then we will have a moral crisis of sorts.
>>
>>42546536
We dont know anyone, really. But we were warned about Toppers and Knocks.
We were not warned about Holly.
>>
>>42546635
I still want to be cautious, giving someone too much autonomy is a good way to get killed.

"Holly, let's head back upstairs. I'd like to talk to you alone."

Her smile spreads. "Of course, Mister Joker! Whatever you say."

You head back to the control area, where a large table and a few chairs and couches have been set up. She sits you down on the couch, and sits down beside you.

A little too close, perhaps.

"Holly, I've not seen you before today. And the first time I meet you, you're operating on your own. With you're own men. You have to understand how this looks."

She looks hurt. "Didn't you like it? Your predecessor and I always had an understanding. I always helped him prepare for his displays.

My men are professionals in theatrics. The...lesser help are good at some things, but they aren't showmen or engineers."

>what do you say?

Seriously, read what I'm saying. Look at how she's been acting.
She sees a new guy that she can seduce and thus gain a high position in the gang as jokers girlfriend.

She is not in a position to gun us down and take over, thats Dottie, Knock or Tops.
>>
>>42546723
We could try a third option not to directly be hostile but let her know that we want to see more of her working with the group so we know that she is not out to undermine us but if we find out she is going out behind our back there will be consequences.

Against your better judgement, Holly's pout gets to you.

"Look, Holly. I just like to know who I'm working with. You've got a makeshift TV station set up in here in only a few days. You got us cannons and costumes. And you've arranged for the kidnapping of two newsanchors?"

"Live on TV, too. During the evening news. I thought you'd appreciate the visibility."

"Live on TV? Jesus, Holly. See what I mean? You're going off on your own. How can I lead this gang if I don't know what's going on around me?"

She leans in closer. Her eyes down, she traces a finger across your leg, and pouts some more.

"I just thought I'd make things easier for you. I know all this can be overwhelming." She looks you in the eyes, a look of understanding and concern on her face. "I was new myself once. You don't need to do everything yourself, you know. You let Knock handle the street gangs, right?

You don't have to worry. I can help you handle the theatrics. And I'll be sure to go through you first from now on. Deal?"

You think for a moment. "We have a deal, Holly. I'd like you to keep in touch with the rest of the gang from now on. And not through Dottie. Through me."

She throws her arms around you once again. "Oh, good! You can count on me, Mister Joker.

I'll finish up the preparations. We've still got a little while before the gang starts showing up. Why don't you relax for a while?" And with that, Holly plants a kiss on your cheek and skips off.

Holly gave you what you asked for, but can't help but feel as if you got played. With your last few minutes before the party begins, you return to the Dressing Room, where Dottie is putting the finishing touches on the seven girls.

Instead of a cigarette, Dottie has hairpins clenched between her teeth. "Shoulda knocked, boss. Coulda been indecent." She works fast; in just a few minutes she's completely prepared all seven of the ladies. "Hope the good doctor's chemicals get here soon. They keep cryin' and messing up their makeup. I want to finish their lipstick, and I can't do it with tape still on."

"Dottie, where did these girls come from?"

"Actresses from the TV station. Holly had 'em brought in, one after the other. Apparently they picked them off as soon as they stepped off the stage from shooting."

You get to the point. "And why did Holly have access to the TV station? Where did Holly get this stuff? Dottie, who is she?"

Dottie places her last few pins from her mouth, and takes you out of earshot.

Finally, answers.

Dottie sighs. "I shoulda told you earlier. Holly works for the TV network. 'Holly' 'Wood,' geddit?

She's the reason we're able to transmit through Gotham's TV stations; she hooked us up with a transmitter that taps into their signals.

She orders costumes and props through the station and has them rerouted to us. I just...really hate that bitch. The rest of us do this because it's all we can do; Holly does it for fun."

"A TV producer... That explains why she's got her own men, and why she likes being in control."

"...Not exactly. Holly's on TV. Likes to help us pull a gig, then go on TV and get everybody worked up over it. Kills somebody then gets everyone scared that they're next." She scoffs. "Probably gets off on it or somethin'"

"Wait... Holly's on TV?"

Dottie still looks sour. "Yeah, that Cris woman."

"And is she always like....THAT?"

"You mean the sorority girl thing? Never with the old Boss. Harley'd have gutted her if he didn't do it first.

But anytime she senses a power shift she tries to get herself on the right side. Much as I hate to admit it, the fact that she's after you right now means that she figures you're worth scoping out."

You're still astonished. A key member of your gang has the ears of Gotham every single day. She keeps them scared of you 24/7.

You're starting to see behind the curtain of how the old Boss operated.

Dottie places a hand on your shoulder. "The old boss knew how to use Holly. Just remember that she's good at usin' too, you understand?"

>>42548148
"We're all using someone or something, Dot. As long as she stays useful, that's no problem for me. Besides, she's not my type."

The last bit isn't as a come on, but as a layer of obfuscation. If we never explain our type, it'll lead to us being able to pull plenty of woman-adjusting shenanigans.

Let us not forget that the out-of-reach is a powerful motivator for women. Hints of favor, mixed with general disdain, is what creates people like Harley. Assuming they have the initial underlying tendencies to be exploited.

Your conversation with Dottie is interrupted by a sharp clack of heels on the concrete.

"I apologize for my lateness. Your men seemed less than eager to bring me here in person. Bad form, Mr. Joker. I'd keep a tighter ship if I were you."

You turn, and see Professor Coal leading a pair of your men and carrying a small bag. The harsh shadows of the underground room accentuate her sharp features. She looks dangerous.

"I've completed the chemicals you requested. I simply modified a quantity of your Joker Venom I took last time."

You are surprised."Thank you, Professor. But you didn't need to come all this way yourself. Aren't you worried about your reputation?"

She gives you a courteous smile. "Oh, I wouldn't miss it. And it's much safer if I administer the chemical myself. You wouldn't want another pile of corpses would you? Besides, it's the weekend. I can spare a bit of time for... Professional curiosity"

"Call me Joker. Mr.Joker was my father. You'll excuse a quick inspection from my friend here? We wouldn't want any...wires getting crossed."

"Of course, how rude of me. Joker." She gives you small smile. Like a cat who swallowed the canary.

She lifts her arms, and Dottie pats her down. Once Dottie is satisfied, she nods, and Coal gets to work.

She places her little bag in the first girl's lap, and pulls on a pair of rubber gloves. She removes a small vial containing a pale green liquid and a syringe.

She fills the needle, and holds it between her teeth. With one hand she grips the girl's chin, and with the other she removes the tape from the girl's mouth.

Immediately the room fills with the girl's weak scream; she'd already nearly screamed herself hoarse. The Professor squeezes the girl's cheeks to force her mouth open you can tell she's trying to turn her head, but the older woman is much stronger than she.

She injects the syringe deep into the girl's gums. Satisfied, she begins filling the syringe again and moves to the next girl.

The Professor talks to you as she continues working. "It's a no more dangerous than what a dentist would use. Or a botox injection. It simply tightens their facial muscles for a few hours.

I took the liberty of including an anesthetic as well. Well, of a sort. It should keep them quiet for the duration. They'll wake up tomorrow no worse than they would from a night of partying."

Your stomach lurches at Coal's words, and you excuse yourself to prepare for the beginnings of the party.

"Bring the Professor to the box with me when she's finished. I've...got to go get ready."

"I have to stay and watch the girls," insists Dottie, "but I'll have her sent to you."

"And Boss? Remember what I said about Holly."

As you walk away, you look back to Dottie. "Everybody's using somebody, Dot."

I just realized, if we're going to be watching from the box seats, who's MCing? Normally, that'd be our gig up and down.

Either way, we should have some sort of "Miss Gotham" song, since those are an overplayed trope of beauty pageants.

"Who is the girl who drives them all bats?
Who rises above all the grime and the rats?
Who makes our hearts dance with a turn of her hand?
Miss Gotham!

Who's smile is bright as ten thousand volts?
Who's steady and sure, through all of life's jolts?
Who's one in a million, fairest in the land?
Miss Gotham!"
>>
>>42549143

>>
>>42548924

The guests begin filtering in, punctuated occasionally by a woman's quickly-silenced shriek. Each time, you jump in your seat.

Dwayne joins you in your seat, Spike in tow. "Guess you met Holly, huh? We should have warned you about her beforehand. You know the deal with her yet?"

You nod slowly.

"I'll tell you her deal!" wheezes Spike. "She's got no idea what she's doing! If I had my setup I could jack up this whole operation. I coulda doubled..? No, TRIPLED our power output. I coulda made this party LOUD. Next time, boss, you gotta trust me instead of that no-good psychotic bitch."

"Speak of the devil, and she doth appear..." Holly rounds the corner and sits down, scooting uncomfortably close to you and throwing an arm around your neck.

She smells like grease paint and expensive perfume.

"Knock's on security," says Dwayne. A look of concern is on his face.

A large gangmember comes up the stairs, leading the Professor. "Hello again, gentlemen." She looks at Holly. "Miss."

"The Professor came to deliver the chemicals we requested." you say quickly. "I...invited her to stay."

"How generous of you," says Holly. She twirls your bowtie with her finger, but her eyes are on the Professor. Coal only smiles.

"Ah, I see you two have already gotten..acquainted. Boss." Top Hat comes up the stairs, accompanied by two people in tuxedos.

One is average sized but clearly muscular man. The other, a black-haired woman with a powerfully athletic build.

"Boss, I'd like you to meet two of my...liaisons." He motions two the woman. "This is Nightjar." He motions to the man. "And this is Blackhawk. They both belong to another of the local gangs. After our last meeting, I thought you might enjoy... reconnecting with some of our allies."

I think it's a little soon for that. Our MC is still adjusting. He can talk the talk, so to speak, but I don't think he's ready to walk the walk.

I think Topper needs to go as well, but we're not ready from an infrastructure or internal crazy perspective.

Personally, I kind of want to keep pushing the Uncle Joker gag, so that, if the original does show up again, we can sell it as "I was just watching your kids for you, Poppa." and transition into an inner circle gig as "Uncle Chuckie" or something.

Logically, we should wait until we're in someone's house, and then shoot him. Point out it's rude to wear a hat indoors.

>>42549790
That was never established to be the point. The point is to get at least some idea of how our finances work, and keep the mystique of the Joker running. The line about poison tells them "Maybe I'll kill you, maybe I won't. Best not to ask for anything."

If we spook them, we spook them. It's not like fences are gonna stop dealing with the joker. That's how they end up nailed to fences.
>>
>>42549442

You think fast, and try to respond in the most Joker-like manner possible.

"Nightjar, Blackhawk, sit down, please. These are my friends, hostages, and assorted psychotics." You spread your arms and indicate the room around you. "As you can tell, I've been busy busy busy. Having a Gas of a time, I can tell you."

You look straight at Topper. "You catch my drift, right?"

"Women, drugs, Women made of drugs! Drugs made of women! HA HA HA!"

The table looks on.

"And the Food! I think I had Pekingese last night. Or maybe it was Shih Tzu. Tell me, you two. How things are going on... Wherever it is your things go on."

You motion dismissively, pretending to only take a casual interest in Topper's new friends' business. Though all of the inner circle is aware that you're a fraud, you think, it's best to keep those on the outside guessing.

Of course, there is no way of knowing how much the two know.

"Our Boss has noticed you've been very active recently," says Nightjar. "He thought it important that we be sure our arrangement is still in place."

Shit.

A clown in coveralls approaches. "Miss, the anchors are here."

Holly sits up and motions you out. "That's your cue, Boss!" For the first time tonight, you are glad Holly is here.

"My apologies, you three. I simply can't leave my public waiting. Dwayne, I'll leave this to you."

You dodged a bullet there. You head down the stairs, and step up on the stage...

But... It's Dwayne.

You approach the mic on the stage. In front of you, the two judges are tied to chairs in front of a wooden table, an armed clown on either side of them.

You take the mic, and stand in front of your entire gang for the first time. At least four hundred clowns pack the empty subway line. Their is no indication from the crowd that anyone can tell you aren't the real Joker; all of them are cheering.

The cameraman gives you a signal. You're on.

"Good evening boys! And good evening to you, Gotham! I hope you're enjoying my little soiree! Tonight, I have a special treat for you all- we'll be holding our own little Miss Gotham pageant!

Uncle Joker has hand selected some of the loveliest girls in Gotham, and they're all here see just who is worthy of the title of Miss Gotham!"

(Cont)
>>
>>42550794

"But there's a twist! It will be all of you who choose the winner. And how? Why, by bidding, of course! At the end of the night, whoever has the highest ransom offered, wins! They can walk out with the crown and sash, and we'll even waive the fee!

But the losers? Well..."

You hold up a rose, and squeeze the bulb of the acid-flower in your lapel. It begins smoking and bubbling, and withers with a hiss.

"Their might be some sore losers"

The crowd whoops and cheers.

"Just call the number on your screen to leave your generous donations. And to announce the show, we have Gotham's favorite television personalities- Steve Haro and Patricia Scott!"

The clowns' guns press into their backs. Steve's voice is shaking. "Ahem...th..That's right, Mr. Joker. I..isn't that right, Patty?"

Patricia sniffs and stifles a sob. "That's right Steve."

You leave the microphone, and head off the stage.

"Up first, Christina Teal." The girl, done up in garish clown makeup and hair, staggers on stage. The sedative in her injection has clearly taken hold. Her face is twisted into an uncomfortable looking toothy smile, and she waves loosely.

Patty reads from her script. "How much for Christina?"

One of the men shouts out, "A hundred!"

Well, they're welcome to bid too, you suppose.

You return to the box to watch the show...

Upstairs in the box, the mood is distinctly more tense than the levity below.

Nightjar is leaning over the table, locking her gaze with Dwayne's.

"I TOLD you. The Boss feels that it's time to renegotiate the terms of our arrangement. We need to be sure that things remain equally beneficial."

Dwayne is fuming, "And I told YOU, Lady. Your Boss made a deal with my Boss, and that's the way it's gonna stay. We haven't violated it yet, and we weren't planning on it."

Top Hat is still sitting. "I think, perhaps, that recent circumstances may necessitate a second look at our previous arrangements... For the good of everyone involved.

Top hat is really asking for a gutting.

We tried showing him who is boss through our plans and logical words. But we really need to let him know his life is within our grasp.

As for the deal, we're the fucking Joker. We follow our own whims when we please to no one else rhyme but our own. The deal is our concern and not theirs. It stays. (Also need to figure what it is somehow.)
>>
>>42551157

Murder tophat, deal with his friends?
>>
>>42551282
Nah, just let him know that we're on the verge of killing him messily. We need him now until we find a replacement or he gets his ass in line.

His job isn't easy, but that doesn't mean he is the only one capable of doing it. But for now it would be a pain to kill him and be without someone in his position until we find that someone.
>>
>>42551327
>His job isn't easy,

Literally just go find someone from the accounting/economics department of Gotham University.
>>
>>42551327
alright, if we can get him in line im fine with not murdering for now, but he needs to go, whether by a bullet or some other means
>>
>>42551248
>>42551327
These are me.

Basically what I'm suggesting is we let him know he's expendible and close to getting murdered. Maybe even hurt him a little now to really show him. Like go from being jolly and happy and shit to suddenly dreadfully serious and dangerous to knock him on his ass. We're playing a crazy guy after all, mood swings are a thing.

And also we're the joker, so we play the part. The deal? No big DEAL, it stays the same because I fucking said so. Your boss wants it to change? He can come and talk in person.

Also maybe get someone to fill us in on what the deal is on the downlow, or maybe use wordplay and get them to explain the deal to us without realizing we have no fucking clue.

Or you know, act crazy and like we forgot and need a reminder which one we're talking about. I feel like Joker could get away with that.
>>
>>42551157

"I believe I can speak for my self now, Top Hat."

You return to your seat, but do not sit.

"Gentlemen, you know me. I am the Joker.

I do what I please, when I please. This deal was between your Boss and me. It stays. You would do well to remember your place."

You look at Top Hat.

"All of you."

It is clear to you now that Top Hat will never yield to you as boss. He has to die. But first, you have to get access to his- YOUR- accounts.

Nightjar persists. "Our Boss sent us to negotiate on his behalf!"

"If he wants to negotiate, he comes in person. Have a drink, watch the show, and then get out."

(cont)
>>
>>42551393
He's doing more than that.

Plus we'd have to get the new person to build up a collection of connects just like Tophat's.
>>
If it comes down to it, we can always kill him without getting access to the accounts. Will make things harder in the end run, and well have to build up from scratch, but if some people really want top hat gone, thats an option.
>>
>>42551157

"BOYS, GIRLS. Let's all just simmer down. Now, I'm fuzzy on the details, could someone remind me what exactly we promised your Boss, and what was promised us in return? I wouldn't want to stiff a friend. Maybe befriend a stiff, but never stiff a friend. Let it never be said the Joker robbed a man. Well, an innocent man. Or, a guilty one, rather. If I'm cutting him short, by all means, let's cut him long."

The advantage of being crazy: you forgetting things is pretty normal.
>>
1. I hope we rigged this building to blow
2. I hope we have a side panel for faux phonecalls, so we can have one of the girls relatives beg for her life live on air.

You draw attention to the show, making it clear you are no longer willing to talk business. Holly does her best to keep the mood light; she requests a few extra drinks and pretends to get tipsy. She tries flirting with Blackhawk; though he remains stoic, the tuxedoed man is clearly made uncomfortable by her attentions. He refuses to meet her gaze.

Finally, the show is nearing a close. You excuse yourself from the table, and head down to the stage. All eight girls are lined up, waiting (and gently swaying from the sedatives.)

"And the winner is..." says Patty, "Olga Baclanova, with Three-Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars!"

Everyone cheers, as the green haired girl approaches you. Her smile is almost natural.

You place the makeshift crown and sash around the girl, and hand her a bouquet of green roses.

Music stirs, and you begin to sing the lines you prepared earlier. You can't really carry a tune, but you figure it adds to the performance.

Miss Goth..."

Suddenly, you hear a loud noise from the halls.

First there's a shout, then shooting, then screams.

Then nothing.

Smoke pours into the room, and chaos erupts. Your allies upstairs shout to you and rush down the stairs.

A black shape darts into the room. In its wake, a trail of your men scatter as if knocked back by some incredible force. You can hardly make it out as it darts this way and that, always right at the corner of your eyes.

And then its on you. It hits you like a train, and you fall to your back, the wind knocked out of you. A huge black shape, its dead white eyes looking into yours.

You know you're going to die.

There is a grunt, and the shape is knocked to the side. Miss Gotham has attempted to tackle the creature.

Dwayne and Blackhawk leap onto the stage, while some of the men open fire on the creature and rush the stage.

Dwayne heaves you onto his shoulder and tries to flee through the crowd, down an exit just off stage. The last thing you catch is Miss Gotham reeling from a blow, as something small glints in the light as it is knocked into the crowd.

You hear more shouting and gunfire as Dwayne shoves you into the passage and pulls the door closed.

You are in a network of access tunnels, and you can't go back.

"What a shame," you hear someone say from the darkness.

"I had hoped I wouldn't have to deal with you myself. Boss."

You hear a shot and your chest feels like it explodes.

Things get much darker.

Then you hear voices.

"Have you got it?"

"Yes. Give me that rag."

"Will this do it?"

"I don't know! I'm not a doctor. Give me that bottle."

You feel like your arm is on fire. You can't move it.

"He's coming to."

You try to stir. You are back in the base, lying on the table. Coal is standing over you.

We were lucky we met the big ones; we might not have gotten you out before you bled to death.

You're lucky he was such a bad shot."

You look at your right arm. A gaping wound is in your bicep.

She doesn't smile. "You're probably still delirious. That should pass soon. Whatever your name is, you need to watch him for signs of fever. It could be due to infection."

You continue. It seems your attempt to lighten the mood fell on deaf ears.

"What did you mean by 'his girlfriend?'"

"The little dark haired one in the suit. I don't know."

"Nightjar," says Knock. "One of Penguin's. Guess Topper's been making some friends recently."

"Hang on, tough guy." says Coal. "It might not be my business, but shouldn't you be sure if it was an order from the other boss, or if it was your little friend acting alone? They didn't send any more men than were at the table, unless the Batman is one of Penguin's men...?"

It's too much to think about right now. Suddenly, you remember your friends.

"Where is everyone else?" you ask.

Knock sighs. "Dwayne got out. Pretty beat up, but he's fine. The Bat cleared out not long after he got you out. Seems that as Spike was slinking off he called the police in. Bats always runs when the police show up. Always leaves the cops to it if he can. They got some of our boys, but he probably saved most of us.

He's out right now grabbing stuff for your gunshot.

Holly went back home. Probably getting ready for a news story tomorrow."

"And Dottie?," you ask. "She was missing most of the night. What happened to her?"

Knock is quiet. He grabs something from a nearby table, and hands it to you.

It is a crushed aluminum crown, and a large marble.

You turn the marble in your hands.

It's a glass eye. A green one.

It's cracked.

Nail him in a coffin, then alternate submerging him in liquid until hes about to drown, repeat the process until he begs for death?

>>42552668

Your stomach lurches.

"The boys brought that back. Guess she slipped into the pageant," says Knock. "Bought you the time to get out. Bats got her with one of those cuff things. Police got her."

He spits. "Guess she wasn't counting on you getting shot by our own guy."

"Get me a gun." you say.

"...Why?"

"JUST GET ME A GUN."

Knock cautiously hands you his gun. It's heavy in your hands. You don't know why, but you just wanted to hold it. It makes you feel like you control something.

You hold it in your hand, raise your wounded arm, and fire it into the ceiling until it's empty. Your wound is pouring blood again.

"Oh hell, " sighs Coal. "Get that thing away from him while I try to fix this."

She pushes you back down onto the table and holds a cloth against your wound, trying to stop the bleeding.

"First, we get Dottie back. Then I kill Top Hat. And then...I don't know."

I say we use another distraction play only this time no fakes make batman work hard to keep him and the cops busy this leta us test reds talent as well, we could also start a few fires near or in nursing homes to type more of the cities resources. After we get Dottie back take some time to recover while your boys hunt down Top Hat and hia birdy. Also we need to get in contact with the penguin and let him know that one of his own has been fucking around behind his back that gets his gang on their backs too. If we catch them we get to play dentist if Penguin gets them his pets get some chums. Either way we win.

So we find them and send penguin their heads. This tells him to fuck off rather nicely. Especially if we make one of his men with an explosive bomb collar deliver them. We can put them in boxes and wrap them like christmas presents bows and all just for flare too.
>>
>>42552945
Nb4 tophat has the cash bc we didn't take him off finances
>>
>>42552836
thank you for the gun OP
>>

"Knock, put out feelers. I want to know where Top Hat is right now. And we need to move all the safehouses and loot. Top Hat knows where they are. They're bound to be attacked soon."

He nods.

"After I get this bandaged up, we go after Dottie. We hit the jail once, and we'll do it again."

"Dottie ain't in jail, Boss." He taps his forehead with his finger. "No holding period, no trial. Dottie's already up in Arkham."

>what do you say?

"Then we are going to bring the circus to the madhouse, one way or another"
>>
>>42553029
Well, it's a good thing we got Red. We're gonna need a LOT of fireworks.
>>
>>42553029
If we take our time, and plan it, Bats will find out about it for sure.

If we hit them now, we may have a chance, however slim.
>>
>>42553029
>Oh, thank god. There's a breakout from there, like, every other week, and we're a few weeks overdue.
>>
>>42553029
Time to bust Arkahm wide open then. We wont let ours wrot. Penguibs goons fucked with the wrong family. Breaking our own out of Arkahm will be one step in showing we're not to be fucked with. Sending Penguin TopHat and whatever her name is heads as a Present makes it crystal. If still doesn't get it, we roast oursleves some birds until they flew north because it's too hot to stay on this town."
>>
>>42553089
>>42553085

Pull another wild goose chase? but this time with real bombs, and twice as many?
>>
>>42553108
Hell yes. If the bat underestimates us then he pays the price.
>>
>>42553108
Sure, but instead of parks and skyscrapers, we rig all the normal prisons to blow open. If bats don't go after it, a whole lot more crooks than arkhams will get loose.
>>
>>42553120
how about both?
>>
>>42553153
Got to play the game, with them chaining. If we get too many distractions we risk making bats wanting to take on a side kick, if he aint already got one, depends really, which circus is coming to town? the Greyson's one?
>>
>>42553153
I like it. We can have Holly act on an anonymous tip and anounce the bombs live on air. Giving them short notice to do anything before we hit Arkahm hard.
>>
>>42553029

"Then one way or the other, the circus is going to the madhouse."

The room is quiet.

"And we do it fast. If we wait we leave Batman time to prepare."

You stand, and flip the table.

"WE don't let ours rot. Penguin's goons fucked with the wrong family. FIRST we break her out of Arkham."

You kick the table. The cheap wood splits in half.

"THEN I send the heads of Top Hat, the girl, and anyone else who gets in my way straight to Penguin."

You stomp the wood to splinters.

"And if he STILL doesn't get it, we roast some birds 'till the rest fly North."

You are panting and pouring blood.

Professor Coal stands.

"I hope you enjoyed you're little tantrum. Tell me something. Have you ever even killed anyone yourself? Or were you content to sit back and let your goons and I do it?"
>>
>>42553185
I'm not afraid to get my hands bloody.
>>
We need to also start carrying a crowbar.
>>
>>42553185
There is a first time for everything. (It seems shes realized were not the real joker)
>>
>>42553213
yes. And a fake gun right next to our real one.
>>
>>42553229
One that pops out a flag saying BANG! instead of a bullet?
Need to rig it to shoot the flag like a spike upon the second trigger pull.
>>
>>42553229
But the fake gun, which shoots out the little flag, needs to actually fire that flag on the second trigger pull.
>>
>>42553239
I love this quest, and most of the people in it.
>>
>>42553254
Dont forget our 10,000 volt joybuzzer
>>
>>42553254
So basically a crossbow gun.
>>
>>42553268
Make sure it shorts itself out if the electric travels to us.
>>

>>42553286
What this guy said. He just beat me to it and was able to articulate it better.
>>
>>42553286
Essentially, it would be a mini two-stage harpoon gun. The first stage positions the "harpoon" or spike with a "Bang" flag, and the second fires the harpoon.

Joker Armory

Fake Bang gun (secretly a crossbow somehow)
Acid Flower Lapel
Crowbar
10,000 Volt Joy buzzer
Actual Gun (Thinking revolver)
Boot knife (hidden)
Magic pencil (Secretly just a pencil)

Didn't He also have a straight razor, Playing card themed throwing shurikens (in card form), Exploding chatter Teeth. I also think in one iteration he straight up had a sword cane. We have to fit in a poison whip cream pie in there somewhere, although god knows where.

Am i missing anything?

Laughing gas gernades.

You look her in the eye. "There is a first time for everything. And look what letting other people fight my battles has gotten me so far."

You walk to corner, and sit down across from Dottie's seat, where you'd questioned her about how well you were doing not so long ago. What would she say now?

Even still, the overfilled ashtray is still smoldering deep in the center.

The Professor brings the rag over once again, and presses into the wound roughly. The pain barely registers.

"Are you TRYING to lose your arm?"

"How long have you known?" you ask.

"I had my suspicions the first night. The real Joker never needed a chemist; the police had had me analyze samples taken from crimescenes over the years. I knew he did things in-house.

Then you asked for something non-lethal. I've never known the Joker to do anything non-lethally. And then there was the reaction to the accidental deaths from those chemicals. And tonight with the girls. Nobody who had been doing this long would have been that squeamish. Especially not the Joker.

I need to know you're prepared for what you're trying to do. You're putting all these people at risk here. Worst of all, you're putting ME at risk.

So what are you, his son or something?"
>>
>>42553375
>well?

"It's possible! Hell, if I know. A clown showed up at my doorstep with a box, that basically said I'm the new joker. No plans, no reason, no explanation, just this is yours now."
Do we even know who our parents are? Cause I'd don't remember anything mentioned about them.
>>
>>42553397
>>42553375

Unfortunatley that revelation makes you part of the family. Cant let you spread the word
>>
>>42553397
I'm all for laughing. " How, the hell would I know? I don't know why I was picked I just was. You know a month or so ago I was just some slacker trying to laze his way through a degree in psychology. What I do know is that I'm tired and pissed as hell. I've just been trying not to get myself killed by fucking up so far, but now? I'm extremely motivated for a bit of the old ultra violence."

"A clown showed up at my doorstep with a box. No plans, no reason, no explanation, just 'this is yous now.' So here I am. Leading a gang of clowns, impersonating Gotham's most wanted criminal."

"Because a dead man told me to."

Your feel like you're going to vomit.

Instead, you start laughing.

And you laugh.

And laugh.

You don't stop laughing until you hit the floor, and the darkness closes around you once again.

You dream about clowns. And your friends. The darkness around you is a massive black creature. It swallows them one by one.

And then it swallows you too.

Thanks for running op. Got a time for next thread / twitter yet?
>>
>>42553481
You win an internet, be careful it's a fragile thing.

Sometime after 4:00 EST. No twitter though; seems a waste to start one for just one thing.

Is Dottie kill?

Where did the glass eye come from? She showed us under her eyepatch already, and she had an eye.
>>
>>42553624
The eye she showed us was fake. the girl played a joke on us.
>>
>>42553624
>is dottie kill?
No.

>Where did the glass eye come from? She showed us under her eyepatch already, and she had an eye.

Glass eye was under the eyepatch. She pretends to be pretending to have one eye.
>>
When did you decide to make Holly the news chick?
>>
>>42553654
She was always supposed to be "Holly Wood" and deal with the props and stuff, but I thought she'd be an actress.

Last thread I wanted to introduce her as Priscilla (now Patricia) Scott, the news anchor, but I fucked up typing her name. So I made her Anne Coulter/Nancy Grace instead.
>>
>>42553517
I was surprised you let us fight Batman
>>
>>42553712
Was not really a fight, more a case of OH FUCK.
>>
>>42553690
Hey Qm, have we been told if we have any resources outside of Gotham, or is it all local as far as we know, and if so could we have spike set some things up?

If we can get bats out of town for a few days it will give us a lot of leeway.
>>
>>42553935

As far as you're aware it's all local.

is this quest shit
