PREVIOUSLY ON MAGICAL GIRL LIBERTY: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?searchall=Magical+Girl+Liberty

The train to Calcutta was not as comfortable as the soft seats, fluffy curtains, and wood furnishings of its first class carts made it out to be. This is probably because you didn’t get much sleep even on the plane or on the taxi or well anywhere. Nightmares were one thing, you could handle nightmares. But nightmares involving Knives? That was another thing entirely. Nightmares are things that children get when they read about Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde or Kaiser Wilhelm II. Knives was another thing entirely.

You lean back in your seat, the suspension definitely was doing its thing. You were holding a cup of coffee in one hand without even feeling the bump of the rail while holding a newspaper in the other. Unfortunately in your haste to leave, you weren’t able to get the box scores for any of the baseball teams. It’s a shame but you suppose local news about LA will have to do. Bit of a one-horse city anyway. Rana had already gone to the dining cart to pick you three some breakfast, hopefully something good, something British and not Indian. As much as you respect Indian culture, the things that Mom cooked to celebrate it did not satisfy you or your stomach.

Meanwhile, Sumire was relaxing. More specifically, relaxing her legs on your lap while she leant back on her armrest and stared up at the ceiling.

This is the worst kind of Sumire. A bored Sumire. She was already drawing looks from the other passengers?

“Sumire.” You look over at her. “Would you mind taking your legs off of me?”

She slowly kicks one of her legs up, wiggling her feet beneath the stockings. “Oh? Already sick of them?” She smirked at that. You chewed on the inside of the cheeks. You're never going to get sick of them but if she finds out, you're never going to hear the end of it. You say that a lot but this time you really mean it.

You roll your eyes. “Stop it. You’re embarrassing me.” She gently taps your face with her foot. “Oh you–” You slap her foot down, and she yelps in surprise. To that, she immediately sits up straight, pouting and crossing her arms. “Don’t do that! Not when we’re in public!” You look over at some of the passengers.

One of them, a man poking his head from behind a newspaper says. “No, please do continue.”

His wife slapped his hat off. “Howard!” Howard and his wife quickly retreated behind their newspapers.

You roll your eyes again, then look at Sumire, who grumpily sits in her seat. She says, “I’m bored.”

“You should’ve brought something to do then,” you say. “Like uh… a book to read or a toy.”

She huffs. “I’m too old for toys.”

“Could’ve fooled me.”

> Stand up, walk around. Maybe you’ll find Sumire something to do.

She's likely delayed because of a long line for food. But with knifes at large you can never bee too careful.

You stand up, and stretch out your arms and legs as far as they can go. “Ugh. I’m going for a walk.” You gently pat her with the back of your hand. “Maybe I’ll find you a newspaper.”

“Oh great, Indian news, what are the big headlines? Brits eat sacred cattle, Sikhs not amused?” You shake your head. That’s just insensitive. Whatever. Dining cart is down one hall, the other hall leads on to another first class carriage. You shrug and go in the direction of the first class carriage.

The wind blows right in your face as you open the door. As nice as these platforms are for the carriages, they’re not exactly cruiseliner balconies. Whatever, you decide to just bask in the wind anyway. You lean over, sighing deeply. Your khaki pants, white blouse, and brown leather jacket were enough for you. You didn’t feel like wearing a dress coming into India for whatever reason. As much as you like flowing skirts, showing a little cleavage or leg, or just making yourself attractive, sometimes you just need to dress down.

Compared to Sumire, who dresses so upwardly that it actually got you kicked out of a movie house. She stopped wearing small skirts that day, at least in public. You cross your arms, leaning on the railing, looking out. City of Calcutta was slowly closing in the distance. There you’d met your British contact, he’d brief you on the situation, then it’s on to find the good Doctor.

You wonder what kind of Nazi scientist this one will be. Maybe for once, it’ll actually be a nice Doctor who did something theoretical instead of physical to someone. You shake your head. That’s probably not how it’ll go down.

You feel a tug on your pants, then look over to see a little girl. A little white girl with curly brown hair, a cute white dress, and big old blue eyes. Definitely British. “Excuse me, madam.” You smile, kneeling down to her level. “You dropped this.” She holds it up to you, and you find it to be your communicator! Oh, that would’ve been disastrous to lose. You take it, and smile at her. Even if it doesn’t work outside of the US, the technology being handed over to any rivals would’ve been terrible.

This little girl just saved the United States ten years in having to play catch up!

“Thank you!” you say, grinning at her. “Where’s your mom and dad?”

She points back inside the cart. “Back in there.” She points to your hand. “I like your ring.” You look over at your Soul Ring. Designed especially to be a point of contact between the inherent magic in you and your physical body. “Can I have a ring like that?”

> “Depends. Have you been a good girl?”

“Oh, it all depends.” You grab her by the waist and lift her up into your arms. “Have you been a good girl?”

She nods, looking quite astonished by your feat of strength. “I have, madam!” She starts counting off her good feats on her fingers. “I pray to God every Sunday. I help my mum do the dishes and my daddy with the chores. I write to Santa as well every Christmas too!”

“And what do you ask Santa?”

She smiles. “That he should give my gift to someone who needs it!” Aw, that’s adorable.

“Well, hey, maybe when you’re my age.” You show off the ring to her again, opening the door. “Who knows, you might just find someone special who needs someone to wear this.” You wink at her as you walk down the carriage. She grins happily, giggling with delight. As you walk, Sumire looks up from your newspaper.

“Whoa.” Sumire blinks. “Who’s she?”

“Yours eventually if you keep messing with me,” you snark as you walk past. You drop the child off to her nice and grateful family. Mom especially is happy that she returned the communicator to you, and honestly you are as well. It’s not exactly the most assuming piece of tech, but who knows what could be done with it in the hands of a child. You shudder as you walk away from them.

Sumire leans back, sipping on your coffee as well. You swipe it out of her hands. Disgusting! Her germs are in it now, ugh. Whatever, you take another sip of it and sit down. “So, you suddenly a baby whisperer now?”

“The term is babysitter,” you say. You lean against the window. “And besides, there’s nothing wrong with being nice to children. Sure they may not be the wisest, but they can be something great one day. We all started like that you know?”

Sumire stares at you, then nods. “I can only imagine you as a tiny child.”

You blush a little, staring out the window. “… I was average sized as a kid,” you mutter.

“What was that?”

“Nothing!” you hiss. And on cue, Rana returns, carrying a tray of hot food for breakfast. “Oh, Rana, you’re back…” You lean over to see a large crowd of Indian people behind her. She smiles, sitting down and setting the tray of food on a foldable table in front of you. You and Sumire glance at each other, and then nod to her. “So… who are they?”

Rana smiles. “Oh, can you believe it! So I was playing with my yo-yo, and these folks here are shocked by it! Sorry I was late by the way, I spent a lot of time explaining the concept of angular momentum and movement to them, and showed off the wonders that is the gyroscope!” She grins happily, motioning to them. “Didn’t I?”

One little Indian boy grabs Rana’s hand and pleads with her. “Show us more of your magic ways!”

Sumire leans over. “Hey, beat it. It’s not magic, it’s science.”

Rana frowns, and then looks over at all of them. “Sorry everyone, could you please go? Maybe we’ll see each other at the station!” They all grumble, but do turn away peacefully and leave the carriage. “You have to admit, there’s something about gyroscopes.”

Sumire groans. “Please don’t start.”

You check your watch. “Listen everyone, we’re going to be hitting Calcutta in thirty minutes, so let’s get this breakfast in us, okay?” Everyone nods, then you notice a fourth plate sitting on the table. “Who’s that for?” Sumire carefully slides both hers and the fourth over to her side. “… nevermind.”

“So, Doctor Kalbfleischer, eh?” Calcutta is quite the dusty city, a hustling metropolis where the stuffy Brits and the indigenous Indians have to share metaphorically the same roof. A sea of brown and black with spots of white. And yet here, it was the British domain, disturbed slightly by Doctor Kalbfleischer and his association not just with the Nazis but also with the Japanese. “Enigmatic fella. Bloody difficult to track down these days, but I do indeed have his location. Outside of the city he has an old estate, used to be a farm. Closed off by high walls all around the property.”

You nod. You were sitting with the Agent at an open air bar, with Sumire and Rana talking amongst themselves outside. Crowding your conversation was the huge amount of noise from the sheer amount of Indians traveling around, trying to get where they’re going, even having to scream if they have to. “Right. There a way in? Does he even want to defect?”

“It’s only rumors,” he says. He chews on the end of his pipe, grimacing. “By the by, I even see him occasionally traveling the city with girls like yourself.” Really? “Who knows, maybe he’s the type to like your type, if I may assume so.”

You cross your arms. You are not doing the Honeytrap scheme. “You’re making a lot of assumptions.”

“It’s all we can do. We have no way into his estate. I hired a couple of natives to try and break in, but unfortunately they did not come back.” He shudders a bit. “The good Doctor has it guarded by a host of very big, angry, and apparently specially grown pigs.”

“Pigs?” You squint. Pigs? The cute cuddly ones you see at petting fairs?

“Oh, you’d be surprised what pig’s will eat, bloody hell.” He chuckles a little. “Anyway though. We know for sure that he is still there. However, he occasionally comes out to grab groceries, sometimes by himself, sometimes with one of his girls. That’s not to mention the Magisch Korps as well.” Oh yeah, you’d heard that they were here. “If they knew Doctor K was defecting, they’d sort it out right quick.”

“Why don’t you grab him then?” you ask.

“Orders to observe. We can’t grab him if he’s not planning to defect.” He shrugs. “The good man’s word is that voluntary labor is the best kind.” Fair enough. “Anyway, here’s the address.” He slips a paper out of his coat pocket, then places it down on the bar counter. “We’ll be in Calcutta for a couple of days. Signal us with your communicator when you have him. If he’s not planning to defect, we’ll leave it to your discretion.” He stands up, and smiles at you. “Good luck, yank.”

“See ya.” He leaves, and once he does, Rana and Sumire walk over.

“So…” Sumire smirks. “Do we have a plan?”

“I want to do this as quickly as possible. So what we’re going to do is drive up to his farm, break into his house, grab him, and go. Bring him back to the Agents, they’ll fly him out. Simple, right?”

Rana scratches her chin. “What about the Magisch Korps? We know they’re here, won’t they know if something’s up at his house? They’re watching him like we are, right?”

“Doesn’t mean they’ll have the forces to respond,” you say. “They aren’t the powerhouse they used to be. Worst we’ll see are some Stosstruppen and maybe Tiny again. All in all, it should go without a hitch?”

Sumire crosses her arms, narrowing her eyes. “You’re just doing this to get out of the Honeytrap thing, aren’t you?”

“If I was, I’d be doing it if it were my turn.” You place your hands on the bar. “We got the address. We can grab a car in town. We’ll have some lunch. Then we move on. Got it?” They both nod. “Good. Now, let’s order something to eat. I’m starved.”

Your car was parked right outside of the estate walls. They certainly were high. But it wasn’t exactly the Great Wall of China. These were more like gated community walls and not “keep out the mongols” walls. Indeed, what seemed to be the pressing threat to any home invader were the huge pigs roaming about. The grass was completely gone, replaced with a huge dirt field surrounding a pristine tan mansion basking in the sunlight. And in these fields were great big black pigs, with what seemed to be organic armored plates all around the body, and very sharp yellow eyes dancing around scoping things out.

You, Sumire, and Rana hung on the wall, scoping it all out. “Those pigs look mean,” says Rana.

“Yep.” You nod. “Agent was right, these definitely ain’t your farmbred pigs.”

> DOCTOR K’S PIGS <
> Suspicious reptilian in appearance. God knows what he did to get that. <

You noticed though that all the pigs appeared to be chained to strategically placed posts. You tried to see if there was some sort of blind spot you could pass through but so far, it seemed fruitless. Judging by the lengths of those chains, and the number of pigs surrounding the mansion, it seemed there was no way past.

Sumire scoffs. “We can take a couple of pigs.” She starts climbing over.

“Wait!” You stop her, grabbing her arm. “We need a way in first.”

She rolls her eyes. “Through the front door, right?”

Well…

> Yeah, through the front door. Most obvious place after all.

“We’ll go in through the upper floors,” you say. “If we get separated, meet up on the second floor, alright?” They both nod. “Good.” You stand on the wall, then take a deep breath in. “Let’s get this show on the road.” Your Soul Ring glows, ready to roll.

> MAGICAL GIRL LIBERTY! <

You drop down on the dirt field. Lightning and Bomber right behind you. The pigs’ ears flops, then they all turn their heads to you. They squeal, honking and wheezing as they rush at you. But none of you flinch. Why? Because their chains stop them from coming within three feet of you. “Let’s go!” you yell. You rush ahead, shields spinning up and held up high.

One of the pigs snaps his chain, rushing at you, snapping his… sharp jaws!? You bash him out of the way. He goes flying, flopping over and then immediately recovering. You didn’t know pigs had jaws like that! Those are almost like a crocodile’s teeth! Still, you have a hole now!

Bomber brings up an M1917 Trench Gun directly out of her skirt, and fires off a blast at one of the hogs. It goes flying backwards, rolling onto its back, but then quickly turning over back on its feet. These pigs are tough, you’ll give them that!

“Ha!” Lightning slashes one across the face, but it quickly bites down hard on the blade of her naginata. Bomber has to blast it off with her shotgun, but all it does is stun the poor beast. “These are tough pigs!” yells Lightning.

“Yeah!” you yell. More pigs break loose of their chains and start pursuing you as you close further and further to the house. “There! The balcony!” There was a balcony directly over the main entrance. Bomber nods, rushing ahead, then blasting herself upward with the powerful recoil of the trench gun. Lightning follows, pole vaulting upwards onto the balcony.

“Libby!” Lightning holds out her hand, and you make the call to grab for it when suddenly you’re tackled out of the way. “Whoa! Watch it!” That would’ve been helpful five seconds ago, Lightning. You quickly rush to stand, and find yourself staring down the glowing yellow eyes of one of the larger pigs. The others circle you, squealing and oinking.

This pig in particular looks hungry.

> MINOR SUCCESS! <

The Pig Mother charges at you, wheezing loudly with fury. Your shields take the brunt of the blow, but that doesn’t it stop her from chewing and gnawing madly against your shields. The other pigs squeak and stomp their hooves as they watch the mother crash against you.

If you had to tell your Mom that you’d be fighting pigs today, she’d be very unhappy with you lying. The Pig Mother pushes against you with surprising strength, pushing you back and away from the balcony. “Show that pig what for, Libby!” yells Lightning. Bomber drops her Trench Gun and instead pulls out a Vickers K Machine gun. She starts spraying the crowd of pigs with fast accurate fire, shooting up dust into the field.

Good, that’ll give you some time to run the hell away! You run to the balcony, only for the Pig Mother again to block your path. You’re still running though and you’re not going to stop!

You spin up your shield and completely bash her out of the way. She squeals as she goes flying backwards, injured, but not out of it. Just enough time for you to run up one of the columns, then jump and grab Lightning’s hand. She pulls you up quickly enough before the balcony columns are swarmed by pigs trying to climb up and bite at you.

“What kind of pigs are these!?” screams Bomber.

“Not the kind I’d eat,” you say. “Let’s get outta here.” You blow through the door, and find yourself in a dusty old foyer on the second floor of the mansion. “Alright. Hopefully the pigs don’t know how to open doors.”

“This is a nice place,” says Lightning. “I think if we come back here, you and me could use this as a summer house, Libby.”

“Don’t start.” You nudge Lightning. “Come on.” You hold up your shields, keeping them chest high while Lightning and Bomber bring up your rear. Light is shining through the old decrepit windows. Doctor K certainly doesn’t keep this place clean. You step down the stairs and into the main foyer, where the pigs furiously try to break the glass to get to you. Thankfully, ineffectually.

“Alright.” Lightning crosses her arms, hanging her naginata over her shoulder. “This place is pretty big. You wanted speed right?” You nod. “How do we speedily kidnap a Doctor from his huge mansion before the krauts show up?”

“As nice of an idea it is to split up,” you say. “We have to stick together. If anything, just because those pigs breaking in is not something I want to happen.” They all nod, in silent agreement. “We’ll sweep the place top to bottom. Let’s start with the bedrooms.” You three head back up the stairs.

“I hope we get out before the Magisch Korps comes!” says Bomber.

“We will!” says Lightning. “Quit whining!”

You break down a door, looking in. Simple bedroom nothing important. “He’s not in here!”

Bomber blasts a door open with a shotgun, looking inside. “Negative on the Doc!”

Lightning smashes a door in with the blade of her naginata. “Nothing!”

Another door gets blown in. The three of you peak inside to see a surprisingly clean bathroom. “Hey!” Lightning walks in, then picks up a bottle of… shampoo? “I love this brand.” She uncaps it and takes a sniff. “Hehe, smells like oranges.” She blinks, thoughtful for a second. She then leans over and sniffs your hair. “… have you been-“

You smack the bottle down, feeling the heat slightly rise to your cheeks. “We don’t have time for shampoo!”

“But-“

“WE DON’T HAVE TIME!” you scream. You quickly hop over the railing down to the ground floor. You quickly bust open the kitchen doors. Leftover foodstuffs on the counter, some plates left in the sink, but nothing substantial. Bomber and Lightning check the cupboards and cabinets as if he were a leprechaun. You look over into the lounges. Nothing, not under or over the couches. Nothing behind the curtains either.

Once you’re done, you meet back up at a door you didn’t check. One that should lead to the basement. “Alright. He’s not anywhere up here. So he must be downstairs. Follow me.” You spin up your shield and slice the hinges off. Bomber slides the door to the left, revealing a darkened staircase. Lightning taps her blade, letting it glow like a lantern. She holds it over your heads, lightning your way.

And right up to an armored door. You knock on it.

No response.

“Bomber.” She nods, pulling out a satchel and placing it down. “Ready!” You clamp your shield over it. And with that, Bomber flicks the switch. The door blasts inwards, and three of you bust in. The smoke quickly clears to reveal a somewhat barren laboratory. A countertop with beakers, test tubes containing strange liquids, and a desktop showing off a typewriter are all that really stand out. Across the walls though are papers that seem relatively foreign to you, but to Doctor K ought to be poetry. Other doors seem to lead to other parts of the basement as well.

“Well…” Lightning crosses her arms. “He is supposed to be a genetic modder or something.” She steps forward. “Maybe…”

Your ear twitches.

“Lightning!” You grab her arm and pull her back, just in time to avoid a shotgun blast to the face. Instead a cabinet is blown apart, splattering wood, liquid, and glass all over the countertop.

“I knew it!” An sharp looking man stands up from behind the desk, holding a smoking shotgun. His round glasses sit atop a sharp nose, and his greying hair beneath a flat cap. He wears nothing but a smart looking shirt, a waistcoat, a pair of black slacks, and some smart shoes. Definitely Doctor material. “I knew you would come for me one day!” he yells in thickly accented English. “Well I vill not go down without a fight!” He points his shotgun at you.

“Wait!” you yell. “We’re not trying to kill you!”

“Kidnap me then?!” he yells. “I will not let me be a slave to your communist ways!”

“We’re…” You stop panicking, then stare at him in complete disbelief. “… communist?”

He nods, tilting his head. “Ja. You are communist, are you not?”

Lightning leans over behind you. “Do we look Communist?” You look over at Bomber, who’s already poised to strike with her dual Thompsons. You quickly bow her guns down and look back at him.

“… vell two of you do,” he says. He slowly steps away from behind the desk, keeping the shotgun square on you. “Who are you? What are your names?” You drop your hands down. “Explain yourselves!” The three of you raise your hands. “I know you are magic, kinder! I can forgive that! This shotgun vill not!”

You retract the shields back into your glove, then keep your hands up. “I’m Liberty. These are my co-workers, Bomber.” You motion to Bomber, who smiles, waving at him. “And Lightning.” Lightning nods, skeptically staring at him as well. “We work for… a non-communist group of people-“

“The United States?” You blink. “Judging by your attire, I can tell.” He waves it off. “Fine, you are not communist. I thought that vas some crazy disguise of some kind. Fine. But what are you doing here?”

“We’re here to get you out of here. Get you working for a better cause than the Japanese or the Magisch Korps or anyone else.” You place your hands on your hips. “We’re trying to free you. We heard you intended to defect so… basically we’re helping you defect.”

He stares at you for a second, then sighs, leaning the shotgun against the countertop. He offers his hand. You smile. So he understands. You shake it. “Doctor Helmut Kalbfleischer. It is nice to meet you. Willkommen.”

> DOCTOR HELMUT KALBFLEISCHER <
> Doctor of Theoretical Genetic Modification Studies and other Medicinal Practices… you hope. <

“Why didn’t you just knock on ze door?” he asks. You blink, tilting your head. What? “I have a doorbell on the gate outside. Why did you break in?” Lightning and Bomber cross their arms, staring at you confusedly.

“Um.” You twiddle your fingers. “I was told you weren’t receptive to outsiders. You know, considering the pigs.”

“Oh, those are to keep out the Indische, ja? But I guess I did not help matters.” He places his hands on his hips, looking around, and then squaring down on the broken apart cabinet. “Verdamnt. That is going to be a pain to fix.”

“Um, Doctor.” Bomber walks up. “Since we’re on the same page now. Shouldn’t we be leaving?”

“Oh, you want to leave now?” he asks, surprised. “We have not even had tea!” He snaps his finger. “Tell you vhat, girls. I make a very fine strudel zat I know you vill love.” Bomber’s eyes light up. She really wants some strudel, and to be honest so do you. But you and Lightning do not have it.

Lightning taps on some beakers. “Listen, Doc. That’s nice. But we really do have to leave. The Magisch Korps is gonna know we tried to break you out of here.”

“Oh them?” He scratches his chin, grim. “… honestly, I prefer vorking for ze the Korps rather than 731. More order there. Such savage practices with the Japs. But uh… I cannot leave, just yet.”

“Why not?”

He presses his lips together, then leans over to you. “You seem reasonable. Can I show you something that I uh… cannot show the other two? Bitte?” His angle seems relatively fine. But… You look over at Lightning and Bomber. They’ll agree with what you do, but keeping secrets is not something you do from your friends. On the other hand, who knows what he’s hiding down here.

“Doctor. Whatever it is you have here, we should know.” You place your hands on your hips, staring up at him sternly. “There are no secrets here.”

He looks over at Lightning and Bomber, then grimaces, rubbing the back of his neck. “Ack! Fine! Come, come.” He motions the three of you over. “But be warned. This is not exactly something you may handle.”

“What is it, failed experiments?” asks Lightning. “Dying puppies screaming for to be mercy-killed?”

“Worse,” he mutters. He opens one of the heavy steel doors and leads three of you into a hallway. He shuts it behind him, then keeps on moving next to you. “Have you ever heard of the leucotomy procedure?” You tilt your head. The what? He reaches onto his belt for a set of keys. “It is medical procedure, very new, very untested. It is a way to cure the insane of their inhibitions and their mental instability. There was a man who had a chimpanzee, a very spoiled little brat, always threw tantrums, always defecated on his floor, so he decided…” He points to his skull as you all come to his door. “What if… I could fix zat. So he drilled a hole through the chimp’s head, and made a few select cuts to the prefrontal cortex. And the monkey became passive, happy, no more spoiled, no more defecating on ze floor.”

Bomber nods. “Actually, I think I’ve heard of this. You mean a lobotomy, right?”

“Right.” He inserts the key into the doorknob. Then opens the door for you three to see them.

A pair of young Japanese girls not much older than you sit at a table, wearing boiler suits, playing chess. None of the pieces have been moved however. They stare at them, calculating, squinting eyes.

“… you kidnapped a pair of girls?” asks Lightning.

[1/2]
>>
>>42566217
[2/2]

“No.” He sighs, placing his hands into his pockets. “I lobotomized a pair of girls.” Bomber gasps, holding her hands over her mouth. What? You’ve honestly never encountered this before. “Well, when I say lobotomized, I more… helped along the procedure. Vat Unit 731 was attempting to do was make Magical Girls susceptible to taking orders, turn them into loyal soldiers. These two were the only ones to survive ze procedure.”

Lightning walks up to them, waving her hand in front of their eyes. They look over at her, nod, then go back to their game. “… can they uh…?”

“They talk, occasionally. But unfortunately, ze procedure was not done very well. Their reading ability has suffered. They cannot process information as well as they used to. In fact, they’ve been playing Chess for five hours now without making a move.” You stand next to them, looking them up and down. Their eyes were glassy, almost as if they were blind. Their Soul Rings though still remained glowing active, as if there were a person still inside trying to get out.

Lightning crosses her arms, walking up to the Doctor. “So what then?”

“I am…” he sighs. “I am trying to cure them. O-… originally, after ze procedure failed, the Chief Doctors tried to have them disposed of but I convinced them to give me time to sort of groom them into their new roles but erm.” He rubs the bridge of his nose. “Look, it is all very complicated but… surely you can forgive this right?”

Bomber walks up to him. “They look so sad!”

“They are sad,” he says. “But… given some time and a little bit of elbow grease as you say, I think I can fix them. They vill not be the same but they will not be so… this.” He looks over at you. “You have not said much, are you alright?”

You cross your arms. “Doctor, this is terrible. But we can’t dwell on it now. How do we get them out?” Lightning’s face crosses into anger for a second, then she sighs, calming down.

“Oh. I am surprised you are taking this quite well,” he says. “Normally, I believe this is the point where girls would want to kill me.” You shrug, letting him continue. “Fine. I do have a personal truck that I use zat we can ferry all of us to a safe location.” He pats his stomach. “… but first I really do want a snack. I cannot think on an empty stomach.”

“This isn’t the time for jokes,” Lightning says. Bomber narrows her eyes as well, in silent anger at the Doctor.

“I am not joking!” He sighs. “Look. We can settle this all in a bit. Let me pack all of my equipment and my notes first, we load that into ze truck first, ja? Then ve go for ze girls.” Lightning and Bomber glance at you, then you nod. “Ja? Ja. Alright, let us go then.” He looks over at the girls. “Girls! I vill be right back. We must be leaving in a bit so please wrap up your game!”

The girls smile, nodding to Doctor K. They quickly go back to focusing on their unending round of who gets to go first.

Back in the laboratory, you make sure to pack away as many files, papers, and other useful looking items in briefcases and backpacks. Bomber walks over, holding a few papers. “Doctor, I wanted to ask, how did you get the pigs outside looking like that?”

“Impressive, no?” He smiles. He places a briefcase on the counter. “You see, when an embryo develops, there are certain cells that develop the body as it forms in the mother’s womb. I call zem Kalbfleischer Cells, after yours truly. Careful breeding and doctoring of these cells, and then injecting them into an embryo and artificially inseminating the breeding mother creates the pigs outside!”

[1/3]
>>
>>42566994
[2/3]

Bomber narrows her eyes, looking at the notes carefully. “Really?”

“… well, there were a lot of failures, but good thing pigs breed in litters,” he says. He takes the notes out of Bomber’s hands then shoves them into the briefcase. “Do we have everything?”

Lightning shoves a huge wad of paper into a briefcase. “Almost!” she says, trying to make it fit.

“Why don’t you shove it down your dress, there’s plenty of space,” you say as you walk on by with a box full of paper.

“Go to hell, Libby,” she says mockingly as she slams the briefcase shut, this time for good.

“Right.” You place the box down. “That should be all of it. But…” Your ear twitches. “Hold it.” Everyone pauses. “… someone’s coming.”

“Who?” The air feels somewhat chilly all of a sudden.

The ceiling suddenly bursts open. The four of you quickly draw weapons and aim at the hole, only for a ramp of ice to form and create a snowy platform at the body. Sliding down it is a Magical Girl, wearing a thick flowing dress, a bearskin coat, and wielding a large hammer. Her silvery hair flows wildly like the forests of Russia, and she triumphantly stands tall over even Doctor K. “Nobody move!” She wields the hammer at the four of you. “In the name of the United…” She narrows her eyes, looking to you. “… Liberty?’

“Winter?” You step back, surprised. You remember her, she helped you for a time after you liberated her from Engelhardt’s camp. “What are you doing here?”

> MAGICAL GIRL WINTER! <
> HERO OF THE SOVIET UNION <

She points to Doctor K. “I am here for him.”

Bomber grins. “Aw, you speak English now!” She happily runs over, hugging Winter. “Oh, it’s so good to see you!”

“I only speak SOME English,” she says. “It is language of capitalists,” she mutters quietly. “Now hand over Doctor, now.”

“Nuh-uh!” Winter grabs his other arm. “He is MY Nazi Scientist!”

You growl, tugging him towards you. “He is MY Nazi Scientist!”

“MY Nazi Scientist!” yells Winter, pulling him closer.

Doctor K has this to say: “You know. I have always dreamed of this moment. Being fought over by pretty young girls at just the right age.” He looks to you and Winter, then sighs frustratedly. “This is not what I had in mind.”

“Look, look, I got a solution!” yells Lightning. She runs her hand along flat of her naginata’s blade, grinning. The two of you look to her, confused. “We chop in half.”

“Pfft, research is fleeting when you have the real thing!” She pulls him further closer to herself. “You have liberated me from the camp but that does not mean I owe you!”

“Doesn’t it though?” asks Bomber.

“… No!” yells Winter. You have to admit, she never did say she owed you anyway, and you expect anyone to pay you back for rescuing them. For now, you two are on even ground. “And as for our little Nazi friend, maybe lengthwise we could split him!”

“Please no,” says Doctor K flatly.

“You can have him if you’re willing to take his two girls with him,” you say. Winter tilts her head, confused. “He’s taking care of a pair of lobotomized Magical Girls. It’s a package deal.”

“Lobotomy?” She scoffs. “Deplorable! What barbarian would use lobotomy on a Magical Girl!” She looks over to Lightning. “Now hurry up and chop this scientist in half!”

“Look. We-“ Your ear twitches again. “… Winter, were you alone coming here?”

She shrugs. “I saw a Zeppelin making its way here on my flight here. Why?” You let go of the Doctor, staring at her furiously. “Ha! I get Doctor now and…” Her eyes widen. “Oh. Wait. That means…” You nod. She looks over at Lightning, then Bomber, who stare at her rather sternly. “Okay. Tell you what, truce.”

“Truce.”

“Do you have a car?” You nod. “Excellent! Let us roll then!” She stomps her foot, planting some ice around the boot.

“We should get everyone in the truck,” you say. “All of us defending though is going to be overkill, so we should split up. Two for two, one pair loads everything into the trucks, hopefully quickly. Another pair will divert the Magisch Korps and keep them busy.” You sigh. “Obviously, I’m part of the latter.”

You pat Winter on the shoulder. “You and me. We can keep the Nazis at bay while Lightning and Bomber pack Doc, his girls, and all the equipment up in the truck. That sound good?”

Lightning tilts her head. “You’re really going to work with the communist?”

Winter leans in, squinting at Lightning. “Jealous?” Lightning coughs immediately, a slight pink to her cheeks as she grabs the Doctor and starts motioning him out the door. Bomber as well follows, pulling a new Trench Gun out of her skirt. “Fine, Liberty. For now we will work together to defeat this threat. But once we are safe, but we must talk compensation, I was tasked to retrieve a scientist by any means necessary.”

“I know, I know, we can talk later.” You sigh. You know Winter pretty well, even despite the short time you got know her. Especially you know her tendency to hog all of the Nazi intelligence. “But first, we got to set up to defend the area. The pigs might only hold them for so long.”

“Oh the pigs outside? I slaughtered them,” she says.

“… what?” You tilt your head. “How?”

“I froze them to death,” she says. “They are not very good at being cold.” Well. Too bad you can’t spray cold and ice at people. That would be an extremely useful thing to have. “There is still the issue though of the Magisch Korps. Knives is definitely a better manager of the small-time goons. Plus, there’s the issue of her tiny little hunter and that big robot ghost of hers. That’s a lot of firepower she’s bringing to bear.”

Winter scratches her chin. “Firepower eh? I think I know just the thing.” She snaps her finger, a sparkle of snowflakes shooting out.

You peered out the windows, shivering as you see the Zeppelin float over the mansion. Already the building was surrounded, with the Stosstruppen forming up barricades out of the corpses of the pigs. Going to be a hard time getting the truck out, that’s for sure. Standing at the forefront is Knives.

> KNIVES <
> Wants to set the world on fire AND a flame in Liberty's heart. <

“Liberty! I know you are in there!” yells Knives over a megaphone. “Come out quietly, and peacefully, and we can discuss things in the bedroom! We have the place surrounded, so do not think of any tricks!”

You sigh deeply, rubbing yourself down, a little ineffectually. “Are you sure this will work?”

“My idea!” Winter says, slapping your back. “We take their damage, make them waste fascist bullets on us, close distance and cause chaos!” You and her stand at the front door. You take another deep breath. “Do not breath so carelessly, you will melt ice!”

“S-s… sorry,” you say. “It’s so darn cold!”

“You should put some fat on your bones,” she says. “You and your Jap friend would never survive one night in Russia.” She mockingly shakes her nose at you. “Oooh, little baby want bottle?” You push her away. “Are you ready?”

You nod. “Ready as I’ll ever be.” You were freezing, but damn if you weren’t going to give this your best shot.

“Good. As they say across ocean, time to face music!” She smashes the door out, letting a huge cloud of mist and fog. It blinds the Stosstruppen and Knives, who cover their eyes as the mist pelts them with little flakes of snow and ice. Knives stands atop one of the trucks, squinting. She knows you’re coming. You might as well give her what she’s looking for.

You and Winter stomp out of the door, smashing apart what’s left of the door frame. The mist clears, showing off what exactly Winter had in mind. Not only is the mist going to fall to the ground and freeze into ice, not only are you given immense cloud cover to do whatever you want.

But you’re wearing thick sheets of ice for armor. You don’t even look like Magical Girls anymore, so much as sharp frozen golems. Your shields remain intact, but now have the extra studdings of ice along the face of it, along with sharp points along the edges. Winter meanwhile has upgraded her hammer into one giant hunk of ice, a great flat that could launch trucks right out of the ballpark.

Knives looks back in awe. “… you know, you look better without all the layers, Lady Liberty.”

> MAGICAL GIRL LIBERTY – VALLEY FORGE ARMOR <
> A gift from Winter to her most favorite capitalist pig <

“Right!” yells Knives. “Charge!” The Stosstruppen hop over the barricades, yelling as they fire off their guns and rifles at you. The bullets chip and plink away at your ice armor. The most you can see is through a small slit through the ice mask. Not a lot of peripheral vision, but it’s safe against bullets at least. Winter charges ahead, smashing one trooper out into the sky. She then smashes another into pulp on the ground.

[1/2]
>>
>>42569208
[2/2]

You blaze forth, sliding across the now somewhat slippery ground. You bash one trooper away, sending him head over heels with a broken neck. Another tries to block your path, only for you to tackle him down and crush him beneath your feet.

There’s one person you’re heading for. Knives.

She grins. “Oh, finally, coming to me then!?” She draws her knives, licking her lips. “Very well! I accept!” She runs at you, and pounces. You bring up your shield.

This is gonna be one heck of a fight.
