As Kaya swoops down, you leap onto her oar, narrowly avoiding a slice from your enemy. The two of you fly away, leaving your foe far behind as you soar over the trees.

Kaya glances back at you, a look of concern on her face. "Wait...didn't Aalgan come with you? Where is he?"

Do you tell her now? Or wait to tell everyone all at once?

"I'll explain later," you tell Kaya.

The look on her face tells you that she suspects what you're going to tell her, but she just gives a small nod and looks ahead, remaining silent as she flies you safely back to the hotel.

When you arrive, you're surprised by what you see.

Hundreds of demons surround the hotel, some large, some small. You see dozens of creatures climbing the walls, and others surging through the front entrance. You don't see any of the others outside, and wonder what their situation is within the hotel. You also wonder if Kasai and Alice are okay.

"Oh no...." Kaya breathes. "John, we have to help the others, are you ready?"

"Yes," you tell her.

Kaya swoops down low and you drop off the oar, firing a Spirit Explosion as you land in a crouch. Red light shoots all around you, incinerating countless demons. Dozens of demons in the massive horde turn towards you, screaming wildly as they rush towards you.

The first to reach you is met with a kick to the gut that sends him crashing into half a dozen demons behind him, causing the group to collapse. The next demons to reach you throws a punch, which you catch. Seizing his wrist, you spin and pull him off of his feet, beating a trio of demons with him before letting go. As more demons swarm on you, you leap above them, firing a pair of Spirit Blasts that kill another dozen.

Landing, you set fire to your hands, extending them to each size and unleashing torrents of flame that engulf several more demons. Still, they keep coming.

One kicks at you, and you grab him by the ankle, using him to beat off the other demons as they come. Then, you slam his back onto your knee, breaking his spine before tossing him at more charging demons.

Kaya, meanwhile, goes to the forest and retrieves large stones, taking them to ridiculous heights before dropping them down on the horde of demons.

You continue facing demons as they come, but notice several more entering the hotel. Hopefully, your friends can handle it.

"Kaya!" you shout. "Take me to wherever Kasai is getting her surgery!"

"But what about the others?" Kaya asks, dropping another stone.

She comes down anyway, and you hop onto her oar, shooting jets of flames down on the demons as you zip through the air away from them. You sail over the trees, soon spotting the arena where the final match of the tournament was fought. You spot several dead security guards just outside, and no sign of anyone else.

Kaya brings you down to the stadium, and you begin running through corridors as Kaya calls from behind that she's going back to the hotel. As you keep running, you find more of the lizard-like security guards lying dead throughout the halls. Among them, you spot a single, strange creature that looks like a mix between a human and a plant.

Cultivated Humans.

You rush even faster, towards the medical wing, where you find even more dead security guards, and a pair of Cultivated Humans lying unmoving. You're pretty sure you hear gunfire somewhere in the distance, but focus on what you're doing, rushing towards the room where Kasai is getting her surgery.

Running down the final hallways, you spot dozens of cultivated humans surging into the surgery room, and hear the screams of those inside.

You dash to the cultivated humans, cutting one clean in half with a single punch before spinning and decapitating another in similar fashion. The rest turn on you, but are not even remotely challenging for you to rip apart. Soon, the whole mess of the creatures lie dead.

Unfortunately, they're not the only ones.

One of the lizardlike demons in a security uniform stands over Kasai's bed, and you see the corpses of who you assumed to be Kasai's doctors lying at his feet. He holds a dagger in his hand, keeping his eyes locked on you as he hides it to Kasai's throat.

"You weren't supposed to be here," he hisses. "I was supposed to have been long gone before you got anywhere near here."

He keeps his eyes locked on you and the dagger against Kasai's throat.

"She is unconscious," he explains. "And will remain that way for some time. Or, she might not wake up at all."

The demon smirks. "I can bring her in dead or alive. They don't care which. I could kill her with a flick of my wrist right now. Or, you can leave this room, leave this building and let me go, and I'll let her live."

He smiles, holding up a small device in is other hand. "I can monitor all of the security cameras, so I will know when you're gone. Try anything funny, and I slit her throat. Your choice."

You keep your eyes on the dagger as you slowly move out of the room. True to his warning, he never takes the dagger away from her throat.

You find yourself in the hallway. It's dark, and everything in here with you is dead. But, you're pretty sure there are other people in the building. A thunderous crash from somewhere in the distance gets your attention.

I ask myself that often.
Ive concluded that i desperately want to see som get better, stop using soap opera tier drama for stuff, and to be more reasonable than he actually is.
I expect too much, though, as I repeatedly get let down. We had to berate him endlessly multiple threads just to get him to put our suit on before fights. We went from being completely outmatched by belial to pushing his shit in without a sweat in one day, along with our allies killing off legendary demons like nothing. It's poor writing, no matter how you look at it.

>>42655201
You do as the demon commanded and leave the building, passing through the ring where you fought days ago.

You feel your anger boiling with very step you take, and eventually a terrible pain shoots through your head. You fall to your knees, grabbing your helmet and gritting your teeth in agony. Your vision swims, and you smell smoke.

You slowly stand back up, your vision returning but the smell of smoke remaining. You look around, and see the tournament committee's viewing box is on fire. The glass is shattered, and someone hangs from the edge before dropping down into the stands.

Yeah we were outmatched, just like we were still outmatched when we fought Beliel in the final round. But he wasn't taking us seriously still, he was basically using half his power on us during that match and he turned his back on us giving the opportunity to beat him. He even gave us a warning to kill him quickly otherwise we'd end up regretting it soon if we gave him time to heal.
>>
>>42655461
And you're still trying to defend that as good writing?

You rush over to the spot where the person fell, and find Alice sitting on the ground, gun in one hand, rubbing her leg with the other. As you approach, she tenses up and takes aim, but luckily bothers to look before she fires. When she sees it's you, she visibly relaxes.

"There's two of them, as a matter of fact," Alice tells you as you approach. "One came after me while the other went after Kasai."

You pick her up and begin running from the stadium, hearing low groans behind you. Glancing back, you see cultivated humans shambling after you, with a lizard demon at their head.

"These guards never were bright," Alice comments, firing her gun over your shoulder.

You see blood splatter from the guard's head, and he slumps to the ground before being trampled by his cultivated humans. Alice fires off a few more rounds, successfully taking out one of the creatures before she runs out of ammo.

"I hate those things," she tells you. "Most creatures die from a bullet to the head, but cultivated humans are a real pain in the ass."

"So, how good are you at sniping a guard with a pistol?" you ask, glancing around as you exit the stadium.

"Well you need to hurry! The Demon Hunter will be back before long! I'll use my hostage to buy myself time, just get here!"

You set Alice down and begin making your way towards the room. The guard sees you coming, and holds his dagger to Kasai's throat.

Hey guys... didn't we have an option to physically shield multiple people with our spirit energy a while back?

Shield ourself and the girls with spirit energy like we did against those bullets right before we killed balor

That has its limits, but you can certainly try it

We're a way stronger than we were the last time we tried it and we were able to stop multiple bullets easily before. There's no way he could hit us with a thrown dagger if we use it now.

You turn and run, creating a shield with your demon energy to protect yourself and the girls as you get moving. A dagger comes ringing out of the shadows, striking your shield and causing it to crack. A second shatters the shield and lodges itself between your shoulder blades. You stop, the girls falling from your grip as you slump to the ground.

"Come on, man, didn't anyone tell you not to turn your back on an opponent?" the voice asks, drawing closer. "Sloppy, Hunter. Sloppy."

As he draws closer, you feel a chill run down your spine, and everything around you grows dark.

"This is the last time I will save you," you hear Koe says.

"Who the hell is that?" the voice asks from behind you before screaming and going silent.

You feel the dagger being pulled from your back, and glance up to see Koe standing over you, a look of disappointment on his face.

"You still have much to learn, my friend," he comments.

"How are the others doing?" you ask.

"Bruce and Kara make a very effective team," Koe answers, smirking. "With a bit of help from your father, Kaya, and Lucy, they were more than capable of dealing with the rabble that assaulted the hotel. They are all unharmed. Truth be known, I believe the attack on the hotel was merely a distracting so the bounty hunter could capture dear Alice and Kasai without interference."

Attacking Balor was something he hesitated with because, until he interfered, Balor and Kuraidesu had no idea you were working for Koe. Revealing his role while Kuraidesu's army was at full strength was a risky move, especially with cooperation from Koenma and Kara being strenuous at best at the time. At this point, his role is more known, so secrecy serves little purpose. He still wouldn't have intervened had you been alone here.

"What weakness?" you ask.

"Is it not obvious?" Koe asks in reply. "You are loyal to a fault. In the compound, you nearly leaped through a portal to the Demon World in an attempt to save Kasai. When Balor attacked your town, you spent valuable time that could have been used to escape waiting for Bruce's parents. Had I not intervened, you would have been slain. You surrendered earlier today in order to protect Aalgan. And don't even pretend that it didn't cross your mind to offer yourself in exchange for Kasai's freedom today."

He sighs. "Loyalty is normally a good thing. It makes you an ideal ally in many ways, but you take it to the point where it puts everything in jeopardy. You're willing to lay down your life for the cause, but you won't let anyone else do the same, even if it means the difference between victory and defeat."

"What should I do now?" you ask him, changing the subject.

"Well, with your new transformation, I believe that you're going to need someone to guide you through this change, and to prepare you for what's coming," Koe answers. "I've trained you before, but have always held back due to your weakness. If you choose to train with me now, that will change. And, if you choose to continue training under me, our relationship will change. You will no longer be my ally, you will be my apprentice."

"Your apprentice?" you ask.

"Yes," he answers. "I will teach you everything I know, bit by bit until you're every bit as powerful as myself, perhaps even stronger. Should anything happen to me, you will be my successor. With you as my right hand, we will end this conflict with Kuraidesu and restore order between the three realms."

"Can I still be with Kasai?" you ask.

Koe smiles. "Of course, my friend. If you're going to be immortal, it only makes sense that you have a companion who is also immortal, and Kasai is incredibly loyal to you."

"Speaking of being immortal, what kind of demon am I, exactly?" you ask. "What's different besides personality and maybe dietary preference?"

"That remains to be seen," Koe tells you. "But, serve me, and we will find out."

"Deal," you tell him.

Koe nods. "Then rise, apprentice. Your first task is a simple one. Return to your friends, inform them of all that has transpired. We cannot allow our allies to distrust us, after all. Once you are finished, return to my castle, and we can begin our work."

He picks up Kasai and helps Alice stand, letting her lean against him. "In the meantime, I will take these two back with me. Kasai should awake before you arrive."

His eyes glow, and something flashes on your suit.

"I have altered your suit," Koe explains. "Place a hand over your heart and will yourself to come to my castle, and you will be transported there."

"Thank you, master," you say.

Koe vanishes, and you depart from the stadium, making your way to the hotel, which is currently surrounded by demon corpses. You step inside, finding blood spattered everywhere. Demon corpses are all over the place, and you just see more and more as you make your way towards the suite.

Once there, you find the others waiting. Kara and Bruce are sitting together on the house, each drenched in sweat and blood, and just looking exhausted.

You hear the shower running in the bathroom, and since Kaya is the only person you don't see, you assume she's the one washing off.

Lucy is sleeping, and has blood coating her face. She doesn't look hurt, so you assume it belongs to someone else.

"Off having a pretty rough day," you answer. "I need to talk to you guys about something important."

You say the word, and your suit catches fire. The flames fade to reveal you as you are, and the looks on the faces of your friends don't make you very optimistic.
