Welcome back to Mortal Kombat Konquest. Previously...

Our hero, Kuai Liang, better known as Sub-Zero, was forced to return the Netherrealm wraith Noob Saibot to his master, Lord Shinnok. In his mistaken belief that he could defeat Shinnok, he attacked a duplicate, earning the death of his best friend Smoke. Now, having retrieved the Dragon Medallion from Sektor, he has travelled back to the Netherrealm, where he has come face-to-face with the undead Shirai Ryu ninja, Scorpion...

You dodge backwards as Scorpion hurls his spear at you before retracting it back to his wrist. "You! You murdered my family!"

"I have no idea what you are talking about!" you shout at him.

Scorpion's eyes burn with hellfire as he takes out one of his twin swords. "I will make you suffer as they did! VENGEANCE WILL BE MINE, LIN KUEI DOG!"

He attacks you, swiping at your legs. You flip over his back and freeze his legs to the floor. "Scorpion! I am not the one you seek! I never harmed your family!"

He lets out a furious roar as he coats himself in flames, breaking free of his icy constraints. He charges at you with wild abandon, attacking without caution or care. He reaches up to his mask and tears it off, revealing a burning skull beneath that opens to unleash a torrent of flames from its mouth.

You create a wall of ice in front of you that absorbs his attack. He places is mask back on.

"Vengeance... Vengeance... VENGEANCE!" he screams as he covers himself in fire once more and charges at you.

He is blinded by hatred... Perhaps he doesn't even see you for who you truly are.

Kick him away.
"You already killed my brother you maniac, remember!"

So what's the deal exatly? Does Sub-Zero knows who Scorpion is, aside from seeing him fight for Quan Chi?
>>
>>42754730

We know that our brother killed Scorpion (and only Scorpion, as far as the Shirai Ryu clan goes) and that Scorpion came back and fought and killed our brother in the Mortal Kombat tournament on Shang Tsung's island. Kaito also admitted that he could have saved his brother, but did not, but Sub-Zero forgave him. We also know that Scorpion led the armies of the undead for Shao Kahn during the invasion of Earthrealm with the Deathstone, but that Kaito broke it and destroyed him. This is the first time he's popped up since.
>>
>>42754779
So Sub-Zero knows Scorpion killed his brother, but has no idea why? Alo he doesn't know about Shirai Ryu, or Scorpion's connection to the Shirai Ryu?

Yes, he knows about the Shirai Ryu and Scorpion, they were the Lin Kuei's top rival before they mysteriously vanished before the first Mortal Kombat tournament, and Bi-Han told Kuai Liang about his adventures, from killing Scorpion from them both fighting over a map in a shaolin temple to meeting him again in hell.

He did not, however, tell Kuai Liang that the Lin Kuei made a deal with Quan Chi to exterminate the Shirai Ryu, his silence was ordered by the Grandmaster, so this spoilered text is out of character knowledge.

>>42754730

You bring up a foot and kick him away, getting some distance between you and he. "You already killed my brother you maniac, remember!?" you shout at him.

His eyes burn. "You did this to me!" he shouts. "You murdered my whole family... MY ENTIRE CLAN!"

Taking both swords in hand he vanishes in a storm of flame only to appear behind you and slice at your back. With the power of the Dragon Medallion, you conjure up a thick frost blade and perform a drop parry behind you, blocking both strikes, before twisting around and swordfighting with him. He continues to attack with pure rage as you both fight across the dark floor of Shinnok's spire.

The undead ninja is clearly driven mad... perhaps there is a way to break this madness upon him?

You concentrate your energy through the Dragon Medallion and let loose another burst of freezing power, freezing him to the ground. He roars as you cover yourself in frost and teleport away, creating an ice clone of yourself near Liu Kang and Kung Lao outside and manifesting within it, shattering it as you do. They look at you in surprise.

"What is it?" Liu asks.

"A very disgruntled spectre," you reply. "Scorpion is attacking the spire for his own reasons, but I do not know what they are. He believes I killed him and his family, his entire clan, but I did not."

Kung Lao looks at his fellow shaolin. "With Quan Chi dead, who controls him?"

"I thought he was destroyed with the Deathstone," Liu says.

"Perhaps he is free," Kung Lao offers.

"If he is free, he is mad and without reason," you say. "But... Not even he can defeat the spire alone. Perhaps we three can convince him to help us."

"How?" Liu asks.

Kung Lao cracks his knuckles. "If he only understands violence, perhaps we should beat some sense into him."

How very monkly of him.

You look at the frozen Noob Saibot nearby, the prisoner you are to release to Shinnok. Perhaps you could release him and lure him into battle with Scorpion... But there is no guarantee that he will cooperate.

>A) Take on Scorpion alone
>B) All three take on Scorpion
>C) The shaolin will fight Scorpion while you explore Shinnok's spire for Jade
>D) Release Noob Saibot
>>
>>42754996
Tricky.

On one hand, we needed a lot of help to take on Noob after his powerup. we have a powerup now, but it would be wise to keep it under warps untill we need it, not to mention he knows the spire, and can easily get away.

On the other hand, kicking Noobs ass might be the wakeupcall Scorpion needs.

Going around in a spire alone sounds like a bad idea, since Shinnok is probably expecting us. And dicking around isn't wise either, since Jade's life is on the line here.
>>
>>42754996
>D) Release Noob Saibot

do it, noobs overriding hate for scorpion will outride pretty much everything else, even shinnok will have a pain in the ass time trying to rile noob in during that clusterfuck.
>>

Noob hates Scorpion just as much, enough to lose control?
Shouldn't we lure Scorpion here instead? Maybe he'll remember Noob without us having to unfreeze him.

"I'll lure him outside," you tell them. "Then, we try to talk some sense into him. Or beat it into him, whichever comes first."

They both nod and prepare themselves. You teleport to the entrance of the spire and shout out for Scorpion.

From the darkness, you see a burning light as the undead ninja hurls himself out towards you. You slide back on a trail of ice, leading him back towards the place where Liu Kang and Kung Lao are hiding. They both jump out, but Scorpion focuses primarily on you. Scorpion is no trifling opponent. He is faster and stronger than most, and lethal with his powers and abilities. But you are a trained Lin Kuei warrior and you fight alongside two of the strongest shaolin warriors in existence. With well-placed kicks, punches and throws, you manage to get Scorpion where you want him to go, near Noob Saibot.

The frozen wraith remains immobile, but when you throw Scorpion on the ground near him, he shakes his head and looks up at him and his eyes widen.

"Two... Two Sub-Zeros..."

It's as you thought--he's delusional, even to the point where he sees Noob Saibot not as a wraith, but as Bi-Han.

"What sorcery is this..." he says as he gets back up.

"I am not the one who killed you," you say to Scorpion. "He is! That one, there!"

The spectre closes his eyes. "No... No... I can hear them... They cry out to me..."

The shaolin look at each other as you approach. "What do you mean?"

>>42756585
>>42756691

"I hear them... My family... They cry out... FOR REVENGE!"

He turns and kicks you down a hill. "I WILL NOT FALL FOR YOUR TRICKS, SUB-ZERO! I KNOW WHAT YOU DID!"

He takes out a kunai and prepares to stab it down at you.

You dash forwards, propelled on a slide of ice created by your feet, as you slam your fist squarely into his burning skull's forehead. As you do, you shout, "REMEMBER!"

You crack his skull slightly, knocking him to the ground. He groans as the fire grows dim. His jaw opens and his voice emerges.

"I..."

"I am..."

"Scorpion?" you say.

"I am Hanzo Hasashi!"

You squint as his body burns completely, turning to pure fire which grows into human form. It solidified once more and Scorpion stands there, wearing his mask again.

"You..." he says, pointing his finger. "I remember you now. You are the brother of the one who murdered my family and clan."

"If my brother did such a thing, I know nothing of it. I have come to the Netherrealm to deliver my brother back into the hands of Shinnok."

"Shinnok... Quan Chi's master. I no longer serve the demon and I seek answers from him."

"What do you seek?" you ask.

He turns his eyes. "I have been... blind. So long have I been fueled by vengeance, unquestioning anything... The only person who showed me the death of my family was Quan Chi. The only one whose word I have to go on, but there are gaps in the story he told me. I need answers that I never asked, or could not ask, while he controlled me."

You hold out your hand. "Hanzo! Wait. One of our friends is in that spire, trapped and tortured. We want to get her back and we could use your help. If you want to strike back at Shinnok and his Chi minions for using you, now is the time. Think of what we could do together!"

The spectre looks at you with his milky white eyes. "Your friends are not my friends."

"But they could be," you tell him. "This could be your chance to turn things around. To be known as Hanzo, not as Scorpion. To stand with us against the enemies of Earthrealm."

"I have no proof that they are my enemies, and I have no love for Earthrealm."

"Is that what your family would want?"

His eyes burn and he turns to face you fully, storming over to you. The monks get ready to fight, but you stand resolute. "How DARE you speak of my family," he spits through his mask. "When your clan murdered my own."

"I have the memories of Sektor on my ship," you tell him. "Information about the inner-workings of the Lin Kuei. If there is anywhere that there would be proof of the Lin Kuei's innocence, it is in those files. If you help us, I will show them to you. And we shall learn the truth together."

Scorpion continues to stare into your eyes, wondering if he should ignore you or attack you.

He decides on a third option: agreeing with you.

"This truce is temporary," he says. "I will help you and you will show me these files. But if you prove that your clan destroyed mine, my vengeance will be reborn."

"We shall see. For now, Shinnok's spire awaits us."

You, the spectre and the shaolin monks turn towards the spire and walk towards it, pushing Noob Saibot and his frozen prison along.

The four of you walk into the spire together. Scorpion leads the way, towards a massive elevator.

"These platforms raise and lower to the highest levels of this spire," he says to you. "But Shinnok will be expecting us to use them. We should take him by surprise."

"Is there an alternative route?" you ask.

"The stairs," he deadpans. "There is a level of this spire dedicated to torture. If your friend is here, that is where he would send them."

"We could split up," Lao suggests.

"I am not fond of it. We should rescue Jade and leave this spire, Shinnok be damned," Liu replies.

Taking Noob with you, the four of you head up the stairs to the level Scorpion had indicated. Each layer of the spire seems different than the last, but this one appears to be a prison. As you sneak through the halls, you come upon what appears to be some kind of grand arena. From a hidden balcony, you look down and see Jade being forced into battle, armed with a sword. The crowd of demons cheers and jeers her as she is forced into battling a never-ending wave of opponents; she is exhausted and wounded, but she continues to go on, fighting with all of her heart.

"We need to help her," you say, but Scorpion holds you back.

"We'll be exposed if we go down there. That crowd will attack us."

"She could die," Liu points out.

"Once we grab her, then what?" Scorpion asks.

"We get out of here and leave the wraith behind, as we agreed."

"Why leave him?" Scorpion asks. "Why not destroy him and be done with it?"

Down below, Jade continues to fight, taking a spear to the side; she cuts through it and removes the tip before stabbing the demon through the jaw.

"Be careful," Kung Lao says. He and Liu exchange glances, nod, and jump over the edge of the balcony and down into the arena to help Jade.

"Lead on," you say to the spectre. He turns and heads towards the stairs, going up several levels.

"It will be well-guarded," he says. Leading you down a dark corridor that resembles a human spine with ribs lining the walls, you come to a large hallway.

At one end is a set of large iron doors, and in front of it is a large demon, twice the size of a man.

"I take it that is the guard," you say.

You both leap back away from the demon as he recovers and roars, summoning a fireball that he throws at you. Dodging by sliding away, you recover and prepare to attack him alongside Scorpion again.

You create an ice hammer as Scorpion throws a fireball at Belokk. The demon opens its mouth and swallows the fireball, belching out a fireball of its own that causes you both to dive to the side.

You attempt to freeze his legs, but he shatters the ice and leaps forward, straight-kicking you into the nearby wall, shattering some of its obsidian plating. You pick yourself up as he draws a large sword from his belt and prepares to use it against you while Scorpion circles around to the behind.

Creating an ice sword and dual-wielding it alongside your hammer in your other hand, you roll forward under his sword and slice at the demon's ankles. It roars in anger as it stomps its feet, but Scorpion dives into his chest, kicking him backwards as you attack his ankle again, knocking him to the ground.

Scorpion tears the mask from his face and burns him alive, scorching his chest and burning out his lungs and chest cavity. As he does this, you blast his head with ice. You grab onto the horns on his head and yank, tearing off his head and dragging the spine along with it.

Holding up his head, you grab ahold of the key that hangs from his frozen neck. You toss the head aside and it shatters as you approach the large door and use the key to unlock it. You and the yellow ninja push the doors open.

Shinnok's armory has a number of interesting items. Scorpion begins to search for the sword, which he has seen before.

You enter into the armory and look around, finding a great many items of interest. But you can only carry one on your person while maintaining kombative capability...

You recognize this as the same orb that was used by Kaito and the edenian royal family, or is at least another of its kind. You grab it and lift it from its pedestal while Scorpion grabs the sword and you both run to the exit of the armory before any more demons can show up. Working your way back down to the arena level, you discover that a great brawl has broken out indeed.

Jade, Liu and Lao are fighting off a horde of demons. After jumping to her aid, more were sent in. They have managed to fight their way out of the arena and into the crowd, almost making it towards the stairs.

You look at Scorpion, who holds the sword that can slay Noob Saibot and other wraiths and demons. You could take it and head up to kill him, or grab him to take with you, but the odds against your friends are increasingly dire and Jade is weary and wounded.

What you guys thin?, Should we use the Orb to call Frost, have her push Noob back to the ship, so we can finish him to our convinience in safety, or leaving the already iced Ashrah alone with the ship is too risky?
>>
>>42778841

Ashrah is not on the ship. We left her at the temple.
>>
>>42778854
I always forget that.

>>
>>42778505
>>42778841

Well, if you didn't have Shinnok's attention before, you likely will in a moment. You and Scorpion both teleport down to join the fray, adding fire and ice to the mix and fending off the oncoming horde of demons.

Working together, you manage to fight your way across the level of the spire and secure your exit, but the horde of demons prevents you from going back to secure Noob Saibot, who will likely be thawed in an hour or so, perhaps sooner.

As the horde chases you down several levels of the spire, you use the power of the Dragon Medallion to freeze the stairway behind you and create a solid wall of ice, preventing the demons from immediately following you. They chip away at it with claws and swords, but you've earned considerable time with which to escape from them.

You finish freezing the hall and turn towards the others. Jade gives you a strange look, as though she doesn't know whether to be angry or grateful with you. But she is also tired and wounded from battle, so for now she will settle on escaping with you.

As you head towards the exit, you hear a noise.

"Kuai..."

Your blood runs even colder than usual and you turn around as from the shadows emerges a thin, dead human figure clad in grey with wispy fumes emerging from his skin. His bleak eyes are fixed upon you.

"Kuai..."

"No, Smoke..." you whisper.

"Kuai... Why did you let me die? Why didn't you save me?"

Everyone else turns and watches as the undead shambles forward.

"Why did you kill me, Kuai? Why did you stand by and watch me die? I thought we were friends... Did my sacrifice for you mean nothing?"

"Stop this," you plead. "Stop it! I tried, Smoke! I tried!"

"You failed," he says, drawing near. "You failed and you killed me... Turned me into this thing before you..."

"You're not Smoke," you shake your head. "Smoke wouldn't say these things..."

"You killed me, Kuai... You let me die..."

Raising a hand, you blast Smoke with ice--but he vanishes into mist.

From the dark corners of the room, two more of them emerge. "Kuai... Kuai..." they begin to chant.

"No... NO!"

You blast them both with ice, but again they are just mist. Now, several of them emerge and begin reaching for you, their chanting combining into a cacophony of guilt and pain.

You throw out both arms and let out a cry as the Dragon Medallion allows your power to surge outwards in all directions, banishing all of the false Smokes, leaving only the real one. There is a sharp pain in your chest as the Dragon Medallion's power causes you to feel a slight amount of backlash.

At the top of the room, on a balcony looking down on you, there stands the true Smoke, his body withered and dark. Three figures with white skin, the Brothers Chi, appear behind him, the hooded one carrying a silver mask with red eyes.

You watch as they place it upon his head. The physical form of Smoke, the flesh of his human body, is destroyed as the power of the mask allows the demon within him to truly take control of the body.

He speaks, his voice echoing and distant.

"Smoke is dead, Kuai Liang. Now, there is only Enenra." He points at you as the three sorcerers vanish behind him. "Go, and live with the guilt of what you have done for as long as our Lord Shinnok allows it. But know that this is far from the final time you have seen me, for the Brotherhood of Shadow shall return to choke the life not only from your pitiful pretend Lin Kuei, but from all of Earthrealm."

You stand straight as you look the demon in the eyes of its mask. "I will find a way to bring you back, Smoke."

The demon vanishes into a cloud of mist that disperses as your party leaves the spire.

As you prepare the ship to travel to the Lin Kuei temple, you take Scorpion below deck with Frost. "What progress have you made with Sektor's memories?" you ask her.

"Well it's not exactly a USB port in the back of his skull or anything but I managed to hook him up to one of their computers. Good thing there was an ID card left in this computer before the ship got stolen."

She brings up a file on the computer screen detailing many memories. Scorpion folds his arm.

"Looks like he had most of the useless memories deleted... Childhood stuff. Might be something here... Looks like he categorized his memories with tags, or maybe his cyborg brain did that by itself. You know, categorizing stuff. Anything we can search by?"

"Shirai Ryu," Scorpion says.

"How do you spell that?"

The spectre narrows his eyes as the young girl scratches the back of her blue hair. You lean down and type it in.

A number of files pop up. You and Scorpion both look at them. "There," he says. "This one is labeled with Quan Chi."

You hit the key and a video file comes up. It is Sektor's conversation with the demon sorcerer.

"The Lin Kuei need to abide their agreement, Sektor. The Grandmaster gave Shinnok his word."

"Shinnok's currency is lies--as is yours."

"Payment is due. I exterminated the Shirai Ryu as promised."

"Hanzo Hasashi lives. He's your spectre, Scorpion."

"I created Scorpion from Hasashi's soul after he died. We observed the agreement."

"The letter, not the spirit. You are owed nothing."

The memory ends there. You and Frost both turn to look at Scorpion, who is very still. Then, he begins to curl his hands into fists and shake. "Kana... Jubei..."

"Hanzo?"

"I killed your brother because I was lied to," he says. "He claimed his innocence, as you did, but I did not listen... Quan Chi... He deceived me..."

You face him fully. "Quan Chi was responsible for Bi-Han's death, then," you say to him. "I forgive you, Scorpion."

"Shinnok..." Scorpion mutters. "Shinnok destroyed Quan Chi. He was his master. He sanctioned my death, the death of my clan, my wife and child... my curse of undeath!"

He slams a hand into the side of the wooden ship's wall, leaving a small imprint in the wood and a scorchmark from the fires around his hands. "I WILL HAVE HIS HEAD!"

"Then we are allies in this," you say as he looks at you. "Hanzo... Let us put aside our differences. We both have our grievances against Shinnok for taking ones we care about away from us. We both seek vengeance."

After a moment, he holds up a hand. You clasp his, the cold from your hand combining with his fire into steam. "Let us share in our revenge, then," Scorpion replies. "With the might of fire and ice, nothing in all of hell will stop our Deadly Alliance."

As the ship returns to the Lin Kuei temples, you part ways with Scorpion. He promises to lend his help to you in future battles against Shinnok, but there is still some unfinished business on Earthrealm that he must attend to first. He will return to the Lin Kuei temple here in time after he has finished his task. He entrusts the demon-slaying sword to your hands.

"What do you intend?" you ask him.

"I have not visited my home since my death," he tells you. "The wayward spirits of my people deserve to be put to a peaceful rest. I must speak with them... and my family."

You understand and bow to him, and he to you, as he vanishes in flames.

Jade approaches you from behind as Liu Kang, Kung Lao and Frost depart the ship, heading to the temple.

"Sub-Zero," she gets your attention. "Do not think that I am unappreciative of your efforts to rescue me. Smoke had spoken very highly of you..."

"How well did you know him?" you ask, curious as to the nature of their relationship.

"In our brief time together, we learned much of each other's lives. I just want to know, Sub-Zero, if you feel as though you made the right choice when he and I were captive."

You are silent for a moment as you contemplate her words. "No," you say. "But, in that moment, I acted as I felt. I did not consider the ramifications of my actions. I believed that I could defeat him... but he was more clever than I anticipated."

She walks forward and lays a hand on your shoulder. "Wisdom comes with age, and not without making mistakes. A wise leader will always be forced with difficult decisions. Though I am pained at the loss of our mutual friend, I do not blame you, Sub-Zero. I seek only retribution upon our enemy for taking him away from us."

"Thank you, Jade," you say to her. You then hand her the orb. "I believe this belongs to you."

"Indeed it does, or to the royal family rather," she says. "I will ensure its return. Thank you."

As you both depart the ship, Sareena runs out of the temple. She smiles when she sees you and runs to join you, throwing her arms around your neck.

"I knew you would return," she says as she kisses you. You can't help but smile as you press your forehead against hers as you kiss her again.

Nearby, Jade watches. You realize then that this public display of affection may not be the best at this moment and you part from her. While you may not know what went on between Jade and Smoke in the Living Forest during your time in Outworld at the second tournament, it would be in poor form to celebrate love at a time like this.

As the three of you head to the temple, Sareena explains that Ashrah is locked away in one of the temple's rooms. She will personally work on rehabilitating her.

Halfway between the temple and the ship, a sudden rip in the fabric of space and time occurs. The tear is as though someone literally cut a hole in reality, and beyond it is a chaotic mess of dimensional madness.

A human figure leaps through, landing deftly in the snow. She wears a grey ninja outfit with a mask and her hair is a stark white, though her eyes are a brilliant shade of green.

She looks up at you three, specifically at Jade.

"...Mother?" she says in disbelief.

And now we'll switch perspectives.

Amongst the soldiers of the Special Forces and the OWEA, the edenian princesses stand out quite a bit. The sight of them seated in a combat helicopter could even be described as near comical to anyone unaware of their special abilities and deadly history. Of the two, Kitana is more fascinated with Earthrealm technology and eager to use the headset to communicate with others in the chopper, while her hybrid sister Mileena sits disinterestedly, doubting that Earthrealm’s toys would have any place in their home of Edenia. As they sit, however, she notices one of the soldiers sitting across from her taking out a small bar of candy, unwrapping it and having a bite.

He notices her watching him with her blazing orange eyes and he swallows nervously. He offers her some from across the way, and after a moment, she takes hold of it and inspects it. A small chocolate confectionary with a gooey center. She breaks off a bit and brings it under her veil, not keen on displaying her more monstrous features, placing it on her tongue. After a moment of swirling it around, her eyes widen.

Perhaps Earthrealm does have something to offer their home realm, provided they brought along more treats like these.

Near the cockpit, Kitana converses with Captain Sonya Blade and Major Jackson Briggs about the current whereabouts of the sphinx Turana. Although she is not the only “leftover” from the invasion of Shao Kahn, the sphinx has been sighted frequently in Greece, Egypt and other countries around the Mediterranean Sea. Due to the increasing anti-Outworlder sentiment from the people of Earthrealm, she has been the target of a number of hostile attacks from natives in the lands she has visited, but there is no confirmation of her being harmed, likely due to her magical capabilities.

The Special Forces have attempted to intervene in a number of these attacks, but regulations and orders prevented most of them, for fear of causing international incidents. Sonya explains this to the edenian princess as the chopper flies over a mountainous region in northeastern Egypt where she was last sighted. After an hour of searching, they narrow down the sphinx’s location to atop one of the mountains, where she has apparently built a nest of sorts.

The chopper lands far away enough so as not to alert her, and the edenians and Special Forces continue on foot. Kitana and Mileena exchange uncertain glances; they are still not certain of how Turana will receive them.

They make camp at the base of one of the mountains and a soldier confirms the sphinx’s nest with binoculars. Kitana takes a look, and then Mileena. “We will go to her,” Kitana tells Sonya.

“You sure you won’t need backup?”

“I doubt she will attack us,” Kitana says. “And we are capable of handling ourselves.”

The officer nods and she goes to confer with Jax as the two princesses proceed up the winding mountain trail. There are portions where they need to climb, but eventually, they come to the top where the sphinx awaits.

She turns her head and looks at the two edenians as they approach her, keeping a respectful distance. “Turana,” Kitana calls out her name. “We have come to speak with you, if you would let us.”

At first, the sphinx is silent, scanning them up and down. She spends a bit longer glaring at Mileena than Kitana, but when she is done, she says, “It is good to see you, Princess Kitana.” The fact that she did not address Mileena is not lost on the both of them.

Kitana looks at her sister worriedly and then back at the sphinx. “I was hoping that I could ask you to come back to Edenia with us.”

‘Rather forward of her,’ Mileena thinks to herself.

Turana’s eyes drift across the horizon. “I am hated here,” she says, not truly replying to Kitana’s words. “They hunt me. What would be different in Edenia?”

“They are a young people,” Kitana says. “Afraid of that which they do not understand. The edenians would not look upon you with scorn, and we too are a people who have suffered at the hands of Outworld. I seek only to offer you refuge, Turana, but I would also like to rekindle our friendship. We spent little time together when I ruled Outworld, but I felt you were someone I could trust, because Kaito trusted you.”

The sphinx’s eyes shoot to her as she mentions his name. Mileena wondered who would bring him up first; he is the reason they are all here right now.

“The court of the royal family, my father and mother and my sister and I, we would like to extend our hand in friendship once more. Should you desire, you could be our court wizard, as you were for me. You would have a position of respect and honor among a people who would treat you with kindness.”
>>
>>42788897

“You have practiced this,” Turana says softly. “Forgive me, princess, but I must decline.”

Kitana tilts her head. “But… May I ask why, Turana?”

The sphinx looks off into the distance. “My mother was of Earthrealm, many centuries ago. She told me stories of the lands and the people. But I was also bound for centuries under a cruel sorcerer’s servitude. During that time, I dreamed of the stories my mother told me. And then…”

“Kaito,” Mileena says.

Turana looks her in the eyes. “Yes. Rescued by someone from the very realm I had hoped to see with my own eyes. I had forgotten the wonderful company of others, the touch of friends… I had never learned what love was until I knew him.”

Kitana takes a step forward. “Turana, I—”

The sphinx spreads her wings. “I am sorry, princess. But she took him away from me.”

The sphinx looks accusingly past Kitana at Mileena. The hybrid folds her arms and stands somewhat defensively. “He died protecting all of us,” she says. “You cannot blame me for—”

“To the Netherrealm with me not blaming you,” Turana says, raking a claw on the stone she lays upon. “I was there. I saw it all unfold with my own eyes.”

Kitana holds up a hand. “Turana, I understand your grief. We all miss him and wish things had been different. But please, I implore you to reconsider. I am worried that harm may come to you in this land.”

“I have no love for Outworld,” she says, “so I will make this land my home. Even if nobody here wants me to.” She looks off. “It reminds me of my mother, and of him. And that suits me just fine.”

“Is there nothing I can say?” Kitana asks. “Your grief wounds me, Turana. I want only to help you.”

“Then take her away from me, and ask me not to share a palace with her,” the sphinx replies, not looking at either of them.

Mileena wants to snap at the magical creature, but holds herself back. She is insulted, but she had been somewhat expecting this. She turns and walks away, knowing that so long as she is here, Kitana will never have a breakthrough with the sphinx. The blue-clad princess remains atop the mountain for quite some more time, but is unable to convince the heartbroken sphinx to leave this land, nor is the sphinx willing to lend her magic to help the court. After an hour, she returns to the Special Forces and confers to them the sphinx’s desire to be left alone.

Long after they are gone, as the sun sets, Turana takes off, spreading her wings and soaring through the mountains. She flies to a secret spot, known only to herself and one other. She lands and walks into a cave, where she has her private collection of books, tomes and scrolls.

There is a young human girl here, only ten years old, an orphan from a nearby village. Her name is Nadeen and she smiles brightly when she sees the sphinx and runs to hug her. Turana hugs her as well and carries her to a nearby pillow. She opens up one of her books and reads it to her, and when she is done, the young girl does the same with one of her own books. Through this friend she has made, she has finally begun to learn the history of the world she has so longed to visit. And in return, she is slowly teaching tricks of her own to the little girl, small harmless illusions and prestidigitation.

But perhaps, one day, she will teach her more. Nearby, in a darkened corner of the cave, Shang Tsung’s spellbook sits. Turana casts her eyes upon it briefly; it is open to a chapter on soul constructs, much like Ermac, who now rules Edenia alongside Queen Sindel due to containing the soul of King Jerrod. Contained within its pages is the secret to potentially freeing all of those souls…

The question is, then, what to do with this knowledge…

And how can she use it to bring Kaito back.

In the Outworld city of Z'Unkahrah, the new capital ever since the destruction of Shao Kahn’s fortress, the new Emperor of Outworld holds court. Earlier, Kotal Kahn toured the streets with his family. He is loved by his people for being a fair and strong leader, organizing farming and protection against the hordes of monsters, mutants and other threats that plague Outworld’s citizens. Kotal has taken a firm stance on his rule, dispensing harsh yet fair punishment to those who break his laws and setting examples for others. He has also been a very diplomatic, cultured and polite Emperor.

Today in particular, his court is visited by royalty from lands to the north. Representing all of his people in the lands of Kuatan, King Duroc has appeared in Kotal’s court to treat with him. Along with him are his son, Prince Rokuro, the champion of the shokan Sheeva, his niece, the wise and beautiful Jagara and the shokan mystic and court seer Breeti, in addition to all of their royal guards. A small delegation of tarkatans is with them as well to represent their interests, led by Tortek, along with his new chosen mate.

In the heart of Kotal’s palace, they feast. They were all allies in the conflict against Shao Kahn, who cared far more about conquering than keeping Outworld safe. Between courses and toasts, Kotal discusses politics with his shokan guests. They bring to him unfortunate news, for now they find themselves once more united against a common enemy.

General Reiko has united with King Gorbak’s remaining traditionalist shokan. Reiko, who has taken up the mantle of Kahn himself, having stolen the dead Emperor’s helmet from his private chambers, seeks to unite the scattered armies in the south of Kahn warriors and centaurs in order to retake the title from Kotal.

“He is a fool to think any would follow a pretender such as he,” Kotal says. Behind him, his two trusted officials stand. Reptile, whose saurian-spawned half-breeds have found a home underneath the rule of the new Kahn, and a mysterious woman with a yellow chitin-like body known as D’Vorah.

“Still, he has the support of my father and the shokan who follow him,” Duroc replies. “We have driven the traditionalist shokan out of Kuatan and this has made them desperate. They are even willing to once more stand alongside the centaurs.”

Sheeva shakes her head. “They have no honor, the wretched dogs. The tigrar bloodlines stand with them as well, as does the son of Goro, Toron.”

Across the table, Jagara quietly looks up at the mention of her brother, but says nothing. Next to her, Tortek tears unapologetically into his food, putting her at further unease.

Kotal rests his arms upon his chair as he sits back, deep in thought. They are able to match the strength of their enemies in number, but more civil war would only serve to tear Outworld apart. In this crucial time of rebuilding, such a war must be averted at all costs. He will also not tolerate dissenters, rebels and usurpers to his throne and knows that enemies with such ambition cannot merely be bought. However, he is aware of forces that can.

As he makes these concerns known to his guests, discussing possible plans for what must be done to stop this oncoming civil war that has spilled out of the shokan lands, the kytinn at his side speaks. “Great Emperor. This one would be humbled to carry out the assassination of Reiko and King Gorbak for you.”

Reptile hisses somewhat. “She cannot be sent alone. I request to go along as well.” The insect woman narrows her shining black eyes at the saurian.

Kotal holds up a hand, stopping any argument from erupting. He calmly sits up and says, “It is known to me that the Earthrealm warriors called the Black Dragon have taken refuge in Outworld since the invasion of their realm. Though they fought on the side of Shao Kahn, I know their loyalty lies with gold. Our enemies in the south do not have the shared riches of the Emperor and the shokan’s vaults.”

He turns to Reptile. “Syzoth. I request that you be my envoy to the Black Dragon. Bring their leader, the one known as Kano, a generous offering of my good will, and a taste of payment to come should he see the reason of working for the true Emperor of Outworld.”

The saurian bows his head. “It will be done, my Emperor.”

He then turns to D’Vorah. “There is a man I have heard of in my travels across this realm, D’Vorah. His name is Erron Black. From what I understand, he too shares a love of gold and has a reputation for lethality and marksmanship. Find me this mercenary and bring him to me; I would have words with him.”

The kytinn nods and turns to leave.

As Kotal and his guests continue to strengthen their bonds, far in the south, another very different conclave is taking place. General Reiko, now the self-proclaimed Reiko Kahn, stands alongside a large pyre with elite warriors behind him. King Gorbak is nearby, with all of his shokan, and equally near both of them is Motaro, leading all of the centaurs.

They argue and bicker amongst each other over who deserves to lead their joint force. Gorbak and Motaro, as their people are ancient enemies, refuse to bow to each other, but Reiko has failed to impress them. Though he is a skilled tactician, it takes more than merely wearing Shao Kahn’s helmet to truly be a Kahn worthy of following.

As Reiko attempts to cow them both, there is a commotion from behind their lines. A warrior is battling his way to the pyre, unrecognized by all of them. He smashes through the strongest of Reiko, Gorbak and Motaro’s guards to stand before them.

He is a massive man, easily several feet tall, wearing the armor of a warlord.

“Who are you to so brazenly charge into our presence?” Reiko demands.

“I am your rightful ruler,” the man says, stepping forth, his voice loud and imposing. “I am the son of Shao Kahn, and you are wearing my helmet.”

“Ridiculous,” Reiko says as Gorbak and Motaro watch the proceedings. The would-be Kahn takes out his crude hammer and hefts it over a shoulder. “The Emperor had no son.”

“You are not kneeling before me,” the man says, advancing. “You will regret it.”

Reiko scoffs and charges in, ready to attack the supposed spawn of Shao.
>>
File: Kor Kahn.png (102 KB, 256x512)

The man opens his mouth and unleashes a roar that blasts Reiko back with pure sonic force. His hammer shatters, as does most of Reiko’s armor, and the massive pyre is put out. The ground at Reiko’s feet splits somewhat and dirt and dust are kicked up by the vocal onslaught. The helmet flies from Reiko’s head.

Reiko falls to his knees, his ears bleeding. The man ignores him as he walks over and picks up the helmet before placing it on his head.

Immediately, Gorbak and Motaro both kneel, as do all of their followers.

Thus begins the reign of Kor Kahn, son of Shao and Sindel.

But first, to be an Emperor, one must have a throne.

And there is a usurper currently upon it.

That will be the first to change.

>Raiden

The Elder Gods are silent. They are not speaking to him, and his attempts at reaching them are futile. Raiden is growing paranoid, believing this to be the plot of another realm that is planning invasion. He is growing increasingly dethatched from his fellow defenders of Earthrealm, namely Fujin, who is concerned over his behavior. Raiden is searching for an answer, but finding none, and is quick to shift the blame on another realm. But which realm does this obvious threat lie in? He won't wait for it to reveal itself. He will actively hunt it down.

This behavior has not escaped the attention of Liu Kang, who is growing distrustful of the God of Thunder ever since he absorbed the Red Lightning into his body. As for what may come of this, only time will tell...

Of course, we have learned that it is the fault of the entity that slipped in through the Kaito-sized hole in reality that is preventing the Elder Gods from influencing this reality. But Raiden doesn't know that.

Now, for Khameleon and Chameleon.

>Speaking of which...

Atop the black spire that pierces the red sky of the Netherrealm, the dark ruler of this place sits upon an obsidian throne. Before him kneels Noob Saibot, and behind him stand three demon sorcerers with white skin, the Brothers Chi.

"Rise," Shinnok commands the wraith. The undead Lin Kuei does so. "You have not failed me."

"My lord, the attack was unsuccessful," he replies.

"Was it truly? I never truly cared for Sareena. What she can teach her allies about us does not matter."

"Then why attack them, Lord Shinnok?"

"Your attack allowed the resolve of the one who calls himself Sub-Zero to weaken. He may ally himself now with the spectre, Scorpion, but we will deal with him in time. What is important is that the instrument of my wrath has been delivered into the hands of the enemy, and they do not even know it."

The three sorcerers smile, but Noob is still confused.

"You needn't confuse yourself with the details of my plots," Shinnok says, waving a hand. "All you need concern yourself is your new ally."

Noob turns and sees a figure forming in front of him. Enenra emerges from the dark mist.

"I know you two will make an excellent team," Shinnok says with a smile.

Noob and the being who was Smoke both kneel before their dark lord, who cackles softly with malevolent glee.

"Everything is going according to plan."

"She has not yet returned to Edenia. Nor the other two."

"Then we will simply delay," she tells him, speaking quietly. "Either way, when the time comes, she will not be expecting it."

"I do not know how complacent she will be yet," he replies. "I approached her, and--"

"You what? You know that is not what we agreed upon. You could have ruined everything!"

"I wanted to know how receptive she would be," he snaps back. "She was aloof. I could not get a definitive understanding of how she felt."

"She is rather naïve. She may have assumed you were merely playing."

He shrugs. "It matters not. When the time comes, it will be up to you to make her play her part."

"I know." She pauses. "Were you seen?"

"Of course not."

"Good," she puts on a sultry smile and approaches him, placing a hand on his chest. "Then we have time."

"Do you think you can handle a son of Argus?" the prince asks as she pulls him towards the bed.

Her arms snake their way up his chest and around his neck. "That depends entirely on whether or not you can handle me."

He grins. "It wouldn't be the first time."

The nimble edenian beauty brings up a leg, coiling it around him as they fall onto the soft bedding, quickly ridding themselves of their regal clothing.

To some, familiar bondage is more tempting than freedom. Having spent so long a servant of Shao Kahn, Skarlet now finds herself free for the first time in her life, since her creation in fact. And the thought of change is frightening, in its own way.

She does not initially leave the blood temple where she was kept for many days, only straying out to feast on the red-flowing Sea of Blood outside and rejuvenate herself. She is composed of the blood of countless warriors and soon she feels compelled to leave the temple.

On the day that she strays from its grounds, a man appears before her. Taking out both long knives, she prepares to defend herself, but the man instead simply bows.

"Who are you?" she asks.

"I am but a simple, humble cleric," the man replies, "who wishes to help guide a lost soul to salvation."

"And what god do you serve, cleric?"

The man chuckles as he takes off his hood. "No gods, no masters, no kings. Only the constantly-changing tide, the one universal constant, the beginning and end of all things: Chaos."

She looks at his eyes, milky white, and his jaw, devoid of skin and flesh. His skeletal mouth moves as he speaks and his deep, oddly charismatic voice resonates within her.

"Water and blood are beautiful things," he continues. "Shapeless, they take whatever form you put them in: a jar, a cup, a person. But you, Skarlet, you can be so much more. You can be shapeless whenever you desire, and with that power, you could become truly great."

"And just what is your name?" she asks.

"You may call me Havik, and I wish to teach you the ways of the Blood Code."

Do we get a trailer for Act 2, or this is goodbye?
>>
>>42794396

I'm writing one up for Sareena and Sub-Zero, and then I'll write one for Johnny and Sonya. If there's anyone that any of you would like to see after that, I'll write them too, otherwise I'll have a final scene with Kaito that will bring us into Act 2.
>>
>>42794432
Cool. I have run out of ideas about who I wanna see personally.
>>
The only thing I would add is that I've been going for Saurian as the next body, because I've misinterpreted the task, and thought that we are the ones who will go to the alternate reality, and we should go sneakily, disturbing as few things as possible.

Since, however we are going into our own reality, only the body is leased from another world, and the alternates already caused a mess, I think I'd go for the soul construct.

Just not Turana's soul construct. I don't want to justify her actions, and want to show her that she should have concentrated on this world, and the living instead.
>>
Sareena sighs as she leaves the room Ashrah is locked in. Despite her best efforts to help Ashrah, her fellow demon remains steadfast in her loyalty to Shinnok. Her attempts at swaying her to the side of good are laughed at by the cruel demon. If only there was some way she could break through to her…

Things have been tense at the Lin Kuei temple since Kuai’s return from the Netherrealm. What few recruits left have been training to become warriors under the new Grandmaster, who has grown distant ever since Smoke’s death. She knows he continues to blame himself for the loss of his best friend and she has strived to be there for him, supporting and understanding his pain. The temple has also been tense because of the attack that was the harbinger of Smoke’s end, as no one knows when next the Brotherhood may strike.

It is because of this that Sub-Zero has rarely allowed time for himself. He has been driven to train the remainder of the Lin Kuei and prepare them for the next attack, but in doing so, has grown weary from little sleep or relaxation. But it has been more than that. Ever since Jade departed with the mysterious woman who claimed to be her daughter, the one known as Vapor, who also had an appearance and abilities remarkably similar to the grey ninja they recently lost, Kuai has been wracking his brain in an attempt to discern what it means. Time travel, perhaps? A visitor from another world? A sorcerous trick? The only thing for certain is that it is a mystery.

The young warrior Frost has also grown slightly cold to Sareena, and not merely due to her growing cryomancer abilities. She glares at Sareena occasionally, especially whenever she is in the presence of Kuai. It has been this way ever since Sub-Zero’s cybernetic augmentations were removed by the magic healing pool in Outworld.
>>
>>42794647

On this night, Sareena decides to surprise her beloved. She waits in his bedchamber and lights a number of candles around the room. When he enters, he finds her lying upon his bed on her side with one hand propping up her head and the other lazily draped across her shapely form, the only worthwhile gift that Quan Chi had ever given her.

The fatigued Grandmaster is surprised. He reaches up and takes off his mask, and she can see the weariness in his eyes. She slips off the bed and approaches him, taking the mask from him and setting it on the nearby table. She looks at his strong jaw, rugged and unshaven, and notices new lines on his face that would seem to imply age beyond his normal years.

“You seem so tired,” she whispers.

“I… I feel as though the Dragon Medallion is exacting a price on my body,” he admits to her. He reaches up and takes the medal off of his chest. “Its power is great, but…”

She runs her fingers along its surface, feeling the engraving of the dragon. “Perhaps you should put it aside and wear it only in emergencies,” she suggests. “As handsome as you are, I don’t want you to turn into an old man just yet.”

He smiles at her joke and he approaches a nearby chest. “I cannot allow anyone to get their hands upon it. The power within could destroy them if they are not prepared to wield it, as I am.”

He shuts it and locks it. She embraces him from behind, pressing herself against him and burying her face in his neck. “Kuai… come to bed,” she invites. “You don’t deserve to punish yourself as you do, working as hard as you are. Let me help you.”
>>
>>42794658

He reaches up and takes hold of her hands, his slightly cold touch familiar and welcome. She turns him around in order to look into his eyes as she runs a hand through his dark hair. He places his hands on her hips and smiles as he leans down to capture her lips in a kiss. She smiles against him as her nose draws in a sharp intake of breath; kissing him always made her feel breathless. It was the greatest fortune for her, in her mind, to be able to share in a love such as this. She once felt it for Bi-Han, but she never truly knew him outside of battle.

His brother, conversely, she cared for a great deal more. In the time she had spent with him, getting to know him and train his new Lin Kuei alongside him, she had come to respect him a great deal. But his refusal to give her to Shinnok, even at the expense of his friend, was what had truly shown her that she loved him. Nights such as this when she could properly express how she felt to him were precious and treasured, for neither of them knew how much longer it would last.

As she pushes him onto the bed, both of them shedding more clothing as their limbs intertwine and sheets become disheveled, she smiles as she prepares to show him how much she loves him. His aching muscles, sore from the constant training and taxed by the Dragon Medallion, need relief. His soul, weary from loss and despair, needs her love and care. She is not forceful or demanding, content to allow him to set the pace he is comfortable at, to attend to his needs as they arise over the course of the night. She has the virtue of patience, after all, being two centuries his senior.

She kisses him once more and says that she loves him; he returns the kiss and responds in kind. And as they move and their breathing grows heavy, from the cracked door of the chamber, the young Frost watches, her eyes narrow and her mind wracked with jealousy.

“You’re sure you can’t stick around?” Johnny asks Sonya as she picks up her coat.

“It was a lovely dinner, Johnny. But I’m getting called into duty. There’s a disturbance the OWEA needs to investigate.”

He sighs as he crosses his arms and leans against the doorway of the dining room. “How soon do you think I’ll get to see you again?”

“I don’t know,” she answers frankly. “Now that Sub-Zero has returned the Nethership to our custody, we’re back on active exploration. But the government is wary about it being stolen again, so right now we’re seeking out alternative ways to travel to other realms.”

“Like what?”

“Technology instead of magic,” she replies. “We know it’s possible to replicate portal technology, but we haven’t had a breakthrough yet. Cyrax has been indispensable in this research.”

He walks up behind her. “You know, next time you come over, I’d really like it if we could talk about more than just work.”

She pauses as she slides her beret back on. “I know, Johnny.” She looks at him and puts on a more sincere tone as she says, “It really was a nice dinner.”

She leans up and grabs his collar, pulling him down for a kiss. “Hey, save some sugar for my cereal in the morning, sugar,” he jokes.

Smiling as she parts, she heads for the door. “Stay sweet until I come back, actor-boy.”

“Honey, I’m so sweet that I could be made out of honey.”

She shakes her head and rolls her eyes, but leaves with a smile on her face.

Johnny turns around and realizes that he needs to clean up the dishes. ‘Definitely not a house wife kind of woman,’ he thinks to himself. ‘But man, that everything else…’

"But I thought that cross-reality shenanigans will end up very, very badly," he points out. "Chronosis told me himself."

"That's why we'll need to act quickly. Yes, your new form will be dangerous once you are back home in your reality, but if you can find the entity and destroy it, your realm will be free of its influence. And then we can fix everything on our end and get you back in your own body."

"But you said it has no form, right? How will I know what it looks like?"

"It will eventually manifest into physical form. It will be vulnerable. It will be up to you to find it and destroy it."

Kaito pauses and thinks it all over. "Alright. If it's the only way, then I'll do it. What kind of body will I have? Will it still be me on the inside? What about my powers?"

Ryan shrugs. "What kind of body do you want?"

Together, they both step into the portal, leaving the demiplane behind.

Alright, I'd like to officially reopen discussion on what we're going to be when we return in November; we can use the rest of this thread to finalize our thoughts on the matter.

There's been a lot of support for a lot of different forms that Kaito can take, but if you have any questions (How does a Soul Construct work, for example) I will be here to participate and throw in some ideas of my own.

So, the question we've all had on our minds: what will we be? Post your thoughts and I will respond with how I feel about them.

>>
>>42795620

A halfgod would be interesting; it would put us on the same level as Rain, ironically enough. Depending on the deity chosen, we could have access to a wide variety of powers and abilities. Half-gods are naturally strong warriors and nearly invulnerable, able to heal from nearly fatal wounds. Taven and Daegon are also half-gods, as they are the half-siblings of Rain.

I got a few dozen questions if you don't mind.
How does the Outworlder and the Human differ from each other?
Are our powers connected to our body, or our spirit? I mean do we retain our hachling water powers regardless what we choose, and get to train it, or all that is left in our body.?
What would being a Dragon entail?
>>
>>42796699
God I hope not, it would be like having 4CHAN in your ear. I reckon it would just be like another version of Ermac except where Kato ended up being one of the souls because he died early on maybe in the tournament or maybe he died instead of his father?

I mean make certain OOC knowledge from the side quests into IC, and justify certain decisions

>>42796164
>>42796699

On the note of soul constructs: Their bodies do not seem to be alive. Ermac's is rotting and decaying over time, held together by wrappings and metal implants. Their bodies may not heal like a normal body and would require magical sustainment or nourishment; Ermac meditates in a mini-soulnado to recharge himself.

It's also important to note that Ermac's powers are tied into the fact that he has a thousand souls. His telepathy and telekinesis stems from the psychokintetic power he can generate. If we choose soul construct, we're essentially a lich, but we can choose different powers to go along with it.

>>42796733

>How does the Outworlder and the Human differ from each other?

Outworlders are slightly longer lived, able to be about two centuries or so old. As a people, they are more used to magic, and even someone young like Li Mei can learn it fairly easily.

>Are our powers connected to our body, or our spirit? I mean do we retain our hachling water powers regardless what we choose, and get to train it, or all that is left in our body.?

Honestly, it would depend mostly on what we want to keep and what we don't want to keep. I'm inclined to say that it is mostly situational. Kaito's powers over lightning are tied into his body due to being a bloodline power, but his power over water could go along with his soul. Some powers are also passed through weaponry, like Jade's staff or Kung Lao's hat.

>What would being a Dragon entail?

Being like Onaga when he came back in Deception; a large humanoid with most influence coming from European style dragons. Large wings coming out of our back and claws; can breathe fire, etc.

>>42796855

Well, the only half-gods we know are half-edenian, and since Kitana is 10,000 years old, I would say a really, really long time.

>>42798430
Can we get the passive power of shielding ourselves mentally? So psyker-types like Kenshi can't see into our head?

Just to be clear; are we hijacking this body from an alternate reality? Do we have to share it with another soul, or repress the original while we inhabit it?

Could we marry into the Royal Family as a shokan?

>>42798486
Honestly it would be refreshing seeing Kaito fare without his lightning powers. It's cool and all, but most our attacks and fatalities devolved into "zap him with lightning" and the different variations of it.
>>
>>42798486

Being a spirit would make for an interesting turn of events. Having the base powers of a ghost (flight, invisibility, minor telekinesis) which can combine with either a new or older set of powers. We can also be a spirit that takes physical form.

>>42798641

The body is being made in an alternate reality; created by powers who want to stop what is happening. It can be whatever form we wish; we needn't share our soul with anyone.

>Can we get the passive power of shielding ourselves mentally? So psyker-types like Kenshi can't see into our head?

That's an option. We can also go either full sorcerer or full psychic, both would offer ways to avoid mind control/reading/illusions.

>Could we marry into the Royal Family as a shokan?

You could, but seeing as how the body is itself from an alternate reality, once we hunt down the entity and stop it from destroying all that is, our new body will be sent back and we get our old body back.

And any children we would hypothetically sire, as they are the result of cross-reality paradoxing, cannot simply be put in one reality or another. They would have to be destroyed, as harsh as it is.

How's that for a contraceptive?

DeviantArt shit's not worse than Khrome, because the devs aren't aware it exists and making references to it.

The sad part is I actually like the idea of a ninja with metallic powers, I just don't want to ever give the weirdo community member associated with it any kind of validation.

The guy who commissioned literally every single piece of Khrome art you've ever seen is an obsessed European guy with a LOT of disposable income, who has spammed literally every single MK forum there is with threads about the character trying to drum up interest, until people get so sick of him he's banned. Then he makes a new account and tries again.

He's also obsessed with fashion and constantly posts pictures of runway models saying that's how Kitana and co. should be dressed in the next game.

Of all the things we've discussed, I'm inclined to lean towards having sorcery as an option, mostly because it's something we haven't explored yet and people have been inquiring about learning it since the earliest threads. So then the question remains; what kind of magic will we know, and what kind of body will we have? Saurian? Soul Construct? Human? Dragon? Shokan? Halfgod?

>>42800105

>>
>>42800145
Deception is 10 years after MK1 and Ermac wasn't decaying.

In MKX, he's decaying when Kotal overthrows Mileena which is like 2 years after MK1.

But also, Shao Kahn is not dead and Ermac is recharging regularly in one of these universes.
>>
>>42800153
>>42800105
I go for soul construct.
Very unorthodox question; Can we house the soul of others? Let's say Tortek falls in battle, and we can take his soul to fight with us, and maybe get rejuvenated after the Elder Gods regain access to reality.
Too off the road?
>>
>>42800181

>In MKX, he's decaying when Kotal overthrows Mileena which is like 2 years after MK1.

It's honestly hard to judge things in MK canon. On the one hand, you could argue that they didn't have a younger, non-decayed model for Ermac to use. On the other hand, you could say that after Shao Kahn died, his body went to shit in a very short span of time.

Hard to say.

>Very unorthodox question; Can we house the soul of others?

It's possible, especially if you get your hands on a soul gem like Ermac wears.
>>
Whatever we pick, I favor a form that's able to be hidden/anonymous easily since we're not supposed to be letting people know we're Kaito.

Also it would be weird to be walking around with a human face that's not our real one.

So I guess lizard or construct.

I wasn't really sure at first, but now I am moving towards sorcery myself. I'd like to keep our weak water powers, strengthen them, and finally keep them once we return to the original body.
As for socrecy
>Directly damaging spells
No our fighting style is for that
>teleportation
I think it's a must
>divination, mysticism
how would those work? aren't they the same?
>transformation
has potentials
>soul magic
rather not, or only as much to accomodate willing souls
>blood magik
rather not
>mind control
rahter not, or only as much to resist against psyker-types

Actually can we meet the race ideas in the middle and be a Saurian Lich?
>>
>>42800398
Ye- N- What?
I suppose that the mummified body that makes up the soul construct could be saurian, but I'm not sure that his biological functions could still work.
Also I like the construct, because we can masqurade as humans, but -in theory- can survive more severe damages. At least we wouldn't have to worry about nurishment.

Except if our healing powers don't work on us. Then we are more fucked after every battle.

>but I'm not sure that his biological functions could still work

The slime pores and acid spit on a Raptor mummy might be dried up but the tongue and camoflage-skin should still work.

Well, thread is running out of pages.

It's been a blast Damashi, thanks for running all those times. I'll miss Konquesting. Take care.

Yes, that's possible, but honestly it'd probably be better to just be one or the other.

At this point I'm leaning towards soul construct, since most people seem to in favor of it. If we did go saurian, though, I'd have this be our body.

>>42800526

You too, Anon. I've had a real blast making these quests.

When I return, I shall be in America once more.

It's been a hell of a time here in Korea (sans malaria) but I am ready to move on. You can keep up with updates by following my twitter @DamashiKonquest, and if you send me any messages, I'll be sure to try and reply as soon as I see them.

>I'd have this be our body
It's one of the few reasons that I'll regret about not being Saurian. That body looks wicked.

I'll keep an eye out for the tweets, might even try to cook up a pen and pencil Mortal Kombat game in the meantime to keep myself entretained.
>>
>>42800744

I like it too.
>>
>>42800877
Damn that body looks really good. Whana do a Saurian sorcerer?
>>
>>42801289

I'm tempted to because I have these nice pictures of it.
>>
>>42801429
Fuck it then let's do it
>>
>>42801429
Lets do some intense snake magic like the kind used by the snake people in the desert where we fought the lich
>>
>>42801429
Question; can we masquerade ourselves as human if we choose the saurian?

>>42801599
I think that was a mummy.
Damashi, will we ever meet Sumanhotep and Turana's master?

Yeah, I don't see why not.

I'm glad people haven't forgotten about that subplot. He might be the new surprise villain I'm adding to the mix in addition to >>42795025

I thought that guy will give us more trouble after we killed his subordinate, robbed the pyramid (well technically the snake people did it, but it was still due to our actions)
and stole the guard dog who turned out to be a more competent sorcerer than the actual subordinate.
>>
>>42801744

Well, he hasn't forgotten. Kaito and company left the continent not too long after, and now with Shao Kahn dead and a civil war on the horizon, a new opportunity is presenting itself.

I like to think it was just a tuesday for him.
"Aww crap, another band of adventurers killed my sorcerer-mummy, and stole my riches.
Tomanhotep! You are up next. Take these bag of diamods, so the treasury wouldn't be empty. Damn freeloader adventurers."
