/tg/ - Traditional Games

It always starts with a girl.

It was a warm day at The Grove. A small, hole in the wall bar in Fabletown, Seattle. That is to say, the neighborhood of Fabletown, named such by the derelict, forgotten amusement park that held the heart of the small neighborhood. Or, so the mundane, every day human might say, but you've been around long enough to pick up on a few things. Something here that draws fables like you to the neighborhood. Sometimes for short times, or sometimes forever, like yourself.

You were sitting in your usual booth, drinking a few fingers of scotch when the door opened. You look up to see if it was one of your friends- perhaps Mary, or Ben, but it was a figure you hadn't seen before. The woman was a little short- the fact combatted by her high heels, and she wore a short black dress, one that seemed like it would show you everything whenever she moved, but would never quite climb all the way up. She scanned the room with baby blue eyes, before tossing locks of red hair over her shoulder and approaching the bar, where she leans on it, letting the patrons in the booth behind her take in a sight that might kill a man with heart issues.

You finish your scotch, watching her order a martini, before you catch the scent in the air- the barest scent of rotting eggs. Neigh undetectable, were it not you who was smelling it. As a werewolf, your nose is much finer than even the best human's, and even then you have trouble finding the source. You sniff the air, turning your head subtly and looking around- afterall, mundies visited here too- and it would be the ultimate taboo to let them think the supernatural world hid right under them.

Finally, you find it, your eyes settling on the girl as she sips her drink, leaning back on the bar and scanning the crowd.
>>
Welcome to Supernatural quest, I am your humble, nervous QM, and I have some questions for you.

You are a werewolf- more accurately, a were-hound. when you shift, you look like an average household mutt, with short hair and a floppy tongue, and you've taken it upon yourself to keep watch over this tiny slice of magic you call home... But there are a few questions to be answered:

>What is your name?
>What is your gender? *ducks*

What will you do?
>Confront the woman about her scent
>Talk to her, try to feel her out (and say what?)

You sigh, moving to push your way out of your booth and stand up, empty glass in hand. Sneaking around and being sly to get information wasnt always your favorite thing to do, but sometimes it needed doing. You saunter over to the bar, leaning forward and placing the glass down, you slide it across the bar to the bartender, William, who refills it with a smile and slides it back to you. You think of something to say, sipping your glass, but as you raise your head to speak you hear a voice like honey.

"Hey there handsome." She says to you, having moved closer to you without you even realizing.

"Hey yourself." You say, balance thrown off by her sudden greeting, her looks, and the smell- a bit stronger now, but still weak, even for you.

"You know, it's not healthy to drink alone." She comments, nodding down at your scotch before sipping her Martini, finishing it off with a small slurp.

"I suppose it isn't. Buy you a drink?" You ask, to which she nods. You wave at William and turn to regard her, surprised at the ease in which you got her attention. Must have... what do kids say now? Turned up the swag... Okay, not going to think that again.

"I'm Lily." She tells you, extending her hand and making the hairs on your neck raise up.

You remember the last time you tried to flirt with someone, and you remember it's never gone quite like this for you. You find yourself at a loss, not sure how to procced with things as William places another drink in front of her.

What do you do?

The night wears on a little, listening to the woman talk as you spy people you know coming and going from the bar. A few you wave to, and a few you glare at while she tells you all about herself, drinking several more Martinis. She tells you she's new in town, come from California to start fresh and begin her life anew- though, what caused such a drive isnt something she shares with you, but you can make guesses. She babbles on, and you try to pay attention, though you find yourself staring at her eyes, her lips, the creamy skin on her neck.

William places another scotch by you, making you jolt a little and realize what she was saying- "Anyway, yeah, He was an ass, so I'm just kind of crashing in that motel down the road for now." Bad breakup? Right. You scratch at your neck, thinking a little about what she'd told you so far, trying to connect the unearthly smell with her. Multiple exs, whom she had apparently broken up with, regardless of how nice or polite she seemed. You get a bit of an impression that she was rambling at you to have someone to ramble with, even if you were a total stranger in a bar. "You know, It's actually getting a bit late... Would it be rude of me to bum a ride from you? You seem like a nice enough guy..." She suggests, and you suddenly recognize her hand on your thigh.

A nice guy? You didnt realize that your leather jacket and metallica t-shirt gave that impression. Was she a hooker? Still, she seems like a decent girl, despite the unnerving feeling you have. She even drops a few twenties on the bar- more than enough to cover the drinks for the night. You didn't tell her you drink for free.

What do you do?

You nod slowly, deciding that it couldn't hurt. You stand up from the bar, but you do pick up her cash and return it to her. "It's on my tab." You say, deciding that would be easier to explain than why you drank for free. You move back to your table, picking up your bike helmet and leaving a few dollars anyway- a tip for the waitress that was always dancing around the tables, managing the place almmost by herself with William.

Lily looks at you with a smile, clasping her hands together as she realizes. "Oh! you have a hog, huh? That's awesome!" As the two of you make your way out of the bar you nod to Nikolai, who holds the door in a gentlemanly fashion for you and Lily, smiling at you both, though you notice his nose twitching- for a were himself, he had a pretty keen set of senses. You guide her across the street to your bike, and climb aboard, handing her the helmet and forgoing your own. The motel was pretty close anyway- a five minute drive, perhaps.

She pulls up her dress, giving you the glimpse of black lace before she straddles your bike behind you and there's a moment of awkwardness as you feel her substansial chest pressing against your back. You almost turn to question what she was doing before you realize the was taking off her heels- fair enough. A bike was no place for heels.

(1/2)
>>
>>42837396
Her arms wrap snugly around your waist, perhaps a bit lower than proper for two strangers, but with a roar the bike comes to life and you cruise. The Empire Motel isnt exactly five star. In fact, it was widely regarded as the neighborhood shithole- hoodlums and drug addicts of all sorts flocked there to get their fixes, anything from weed to meth, from Syn to Total. You come to a halt before the hotel, and she slides off the bike. "Thanks so much, John. That was really sweet of you." She leans in, pressing a kiss to your cheek.

You look up at her, feeling an urge to gaze on her again before you left, and take in the cali girl's beauty. Her offer of a drink nearly makes you jump out of your seat, killing the bike with a rattle and standing almost without thinking. She grasps your hand, and the back of your head crawls with a warning sensation, though it was dim.

What do you do?
>Thank her for the offer, but refuse. You've got a bad feeling about this.

You excuse yourself, telling her you'd be up in a minute, and she tells you the room number. You smile and nod, trying to clear your head as she walks away, casting an inquisitive look over her shoulder at you as she climbs the steps, to which you smile and act natural. Once she's out of sight you dig into the small saddlebags on your bike. There's a lot in there- you had them enchanted some time ago to hold mor eon the inside, but what do you really need? Is she really going to be dangerous?

You check the mags, and holster the pistol, and you pick up the kit, staring down at the bulky thing for a minute and wondering how you'd be able to bring it in without raising an eyebrow from her. Still, there's a small strap, so you tie it onto a short length of rope and hide the kit under your jacket.

You sigh, hoping you wont end up needing it, but knowing you'd need to see things through- If she is a succubus... they eat souls, right? You hadn't met one before, but... they have to exist, yeah. You'll find out shortly.

A knock at the door is replies to with a soft call from inside, a sultry tone of voice welcoming you inside, and for a moment you feel like the only man in the world, especially to her. The door opens on quiet hinges- must have been recently oiled, the mechanic in your head tells you inanely before you step in. Inside, you find Lily in a short night gown, half reclined on the bed, with a champagne bottle in hand, and a pair of glasses on the night stand. Her room is one of the deluxe ones- a small built in kitchen area for extended stays, and a big, king sized bed. Clothes lie scattered around the floor, including her delicates- which she appears unashamed of.

"Took you a while... Glad you decided to come up." You feel yourself moving forward, pausing at the end of the bed as she sits up, giving you an inviting look at she lets the bottle slip from her grasp.

Just barely in favor of pulling a gun.
---------------
You hold up a hand, stopping her in her tracks as she looks at you. You clear your throat, thinking of the most tactful way to begin questioning her, before you move to draw your pistol. You at it at her head, still just outside arm's reach, and ask.

"Okay, what the fuck are you?"

She starts in surprise as you pull the gun, and she slowly tenses. "Woah, dude... take whatever you want..." She begins, standing slowly and turning to face you more properly, mood she was trying to put in the air dead.

"Stop. No games." you warn, adopting a proper firing stance as you stare her down.

"Just hungry..." She offers. She seems a bit reluctant to tell you anything, but you continue to wait and she finally cracks. "Fuck. Just don't kill me, okay? I'll leave, you wont see me again..."

She bites her lip, thinking before she shakes her head. "Fine, Fine. My real name is Lilah. I'm... I've never admitted this before." She pauses, as if the notion struck her as odd before she continues. "I'm a Succubus." She says.

"Why are you here? Why me?"

"I'm hungry. You're hot. Two plus two is four..." She says a little sarcastically before she answers more seriously. "I'm a drifter. I need somewhere to eat. Everyone does- I don't kill people." She says.

And now, is where I'll be introducing stats. As John, you're a mechanic by day, howling at the moon by night, and keeping the peace in Fabletown all the time.

STATS:
Strength 3
Dexterity 2
Intelligence 1
Health 2
Will 1
Perception 3

SKILLS:
Pistols 1
Drive (motorcycle) 1
First Aid 1
Mechanics (Automobiles) 1

A 1 is fairly standard for a baseline human, or for any given skill, it represents doing fairly well at it, but not being exceptional.

In this case I'll need you to roll an intelligence check (which is a 1d20+1) to determine if she is lying to you.

Lily seems to be telling you a lot of half truths. She's hungry, and you find that she IS being honest about you being attractive... Lilah isnt her real name, though... Dont true names have power over demons? No way she'd just give that to you. And her story... drifting around, not killing anyone? It sounds almost like she's reading from a script.

"John?" She interrupts your thoughts. "Look, I'll just leave, okay? I swear... but... I'm in a bit of a bind... I have to eat... Staring at you have been like staring at a sizzling steak." Okay, that seemed true...

Others are diverse as humans. Some were hate them, want them dead, some goblins like cooking them, others like to work with them for their "rustic charm". Basically good and evil isnt neccesarily determined by race.

Support seems to be for killing her.
________
You sigh. You hate this part.

The pistol in your hand explodes, deafening you in the enclosed room, with your enhanced hearing, but you slowly begin to shake it off. The bullet misses her head, instead striking her in the shoulder and making her scream. Her skin begins to crawl, moving as if there were bugs under it and she shifts, one moment human, the next, very, very, demonic. Horns sprout from her head, and a spaded tail dances behind her body. Skin turned a ruby red- a hellish color and the smell of sulphur and brimstone permeates the air like poison. Her features, however, are rather striking, beautifully rounded hips and large breasts are reavealed as the nightie burns away, and foot long talons tip the ends of her fingers.

You fire again, nailing her square in the chest and making her collapse back against the wall, gasping and heaving, and you feel a momentary pain of guilt- and lust, as the she-demon lurches to her feet and tries to tackle you.

What part of "they are a lying life-eater, talking to them is useless" did you not comprende?

Your roll quickly onto your stomach and fire. A few shots miss, and for a moment you worry about the rounds as they vanish into the city, but a final shot clips her wing, causing her to make an unearthly shriek as she plummets to the ground. You push yourself up, pressing a hand to your sore ribs as you walk past the addicts. "Rhonda. Chad." You greet as you pass by them. "Don't go in that room."

"Us? Yeah, fuck that. Don't care what she has. Creepy bitch. Breaking Glamour like that too? she deserves it." Rhonda spits, and Chad giggles, taking another drag of Syn.

You make your way to the demon, and look down at her, gun aimed carefully. She is still alive, and has changed back into her mortal form- as beautiful as you'd imagine, minus the gunshot wounds, and the sickening sight of broken bones from her fall. She looks at you, her voice cracking as red tears run down her cheeks. "P-please. Please don't send me there... I'll do anything. I can't go back to Hell..." She begs you, and for perhaps the first time you dont feel the works of her magic on you, making you wonder if you could somehow indebt her to you.

>Nah, end her.
>Hold on, maybe there's some way to ensure she won't kill again. (Ideas?)
>This has gone far enough. Live and let live. She won't forget this lesson.
>Write-in.

"There's one way you make it out of this. True name. Your actual True name." You tell her, and she is only too eager to agree.

"Aea! My true name is Aea. God, please!" She begs. You feel strange when she says the name, and it almost sounds drowned out, as if something were muffling it. Is it supposed to sound like that? You're no Demonologist, or summoner. You decide to try it, opening you mouth to tell her to lift her arm, but her arm shoots into the air before you can speak, causing her to cry out in pain as the broken limb dangles. Looks like you don't have to speak commands to her... Right?

>Shoot her, she's reading your mind
>Try to patch her up, you have your first aid kit
>Fuck that, she's really messed up. Call Becca. She brews potions, right? she can help.
>This is serious, call Silk. She's probably the only one who knows what to do with a demon anyway.

___

We seem rather divided on this, so we'll go with true name. If it doesnt work down the line, you'll have another chance, most likely.

Witchcraft!

Seems like we have control for the moment, ask her if she'll die if we don't get her immediate treatment

You dial up silk, waiting nervously as the dial tone rings, and you hear a tired voice. "Johnathan, What's wrong sweetie? Are you hurt? Need a disposal?" She asks. You rub at your forehead, "Nah, I've got a problem, though. Injured uh... succubus. I've got her under control, but she's pretty..." You look at the woman at your feet, and she nods. "Fucked up. Need your help."

You put your hand over the mouthpiece, asking her if she even needs healing and she nods again. "Yes! I-I'm not as tough as you think." A glance at an exposed rib bone is enough for you to believe her.

"Coming. Where?" Silk asks.

You tell her, and it's about ten minutes before Silk's van pulls up. The older, mature woman climbing out with a sigh and walking around the front to look down at the unconscious succubus. "Well, seems you have a story for me." She laughs before kissing you on the cheek. She pulls open the van door and lifts the girl easily, dumping her into the back without ceremony. You climb into the passenger seat and the two of you set off for Silk's apartment.

You fill her in on the way, and she listens intently, running fingers through her blonde hair, streaked with the starts of silver.

And I'm thinking now might be a good time to pause. We've had a decent session, and I'd like to take this time to answer questions about the session, as well as ask some questions of my own: How did y'all enjoy this? Where can I improve? This was my first quest, and I feel like I underperformed for part of it... and I just being hard on myself?
>>
>>42840334
the setting* not session. though I can do both.
>>
>>42840334
I enjoyed it man, it's good overall as far as I can tell but I'm easy to please. Hopefully will see you around again.
>>
>>42840334

I like it, I guess I had a little bit of confusion early on as to the tone of the setting and what the MC's goals are but it got smoother as time went on. I'll be back of you continue.
>>

Awesome, thank you for the support. I'll archive this thread here, and should it still be up in the morning ill continue from there.

Should I start up a twitter?
>>
>>42840499
Twitters are always appreciated. Good run today, I enjoyed it. And idea how often you'll run?
>>
>>42840499
A lot of quests do it, so I don't see why not. Or maybe wait another few threads, up to you really.
>>
>>42840582
honestly? No. Im recently out of a job, and awaiting a response from a government program to help me into my dream job nursing, but i'll need to wait and see. I'll most likely run again earlier tomorrow.
>>
>>42840499
Twitter is smart.

Announcing at the end of the thread when the next quest will be is the most important though.

Oh shit, that's the name of my apartment complex.

Just gonna keep this alive for when QM comes back

But while I'm posting, I wanted to ask is there any background we should know about the setting? You said it was a homebrew, is there any info that's different here than any other saying with supernatural creatures?
