>In the olden times, when the world was young. Our lady, Beauty roamed the lands of Origin. She was flawless in visage, and granted all her followers beauty and grace.

>Strength, jealous of the love her followers had for her, accosted her and stole her domain. first she wept. A god with no domain is no god. But then a feeling took her, A strange and foreign one. A tranquil fury. A serene rage. She gathered what little followers she had left, and lead them across the ocean, and waged a crusade upon the lands of Strength and his comrades. A war to reclaim what was stolen from her. She cut a crimson swath through the followers of her rivals, and Conquered their lands. finally consumed them entirely, making their domains and their power her own. She reclaimed her Domain, and make a nation of her conquered lands. What few allies Strength had left had fled, or defected to Beauty's side. She called out from the tallest mountain. "I am Beauty. WITNESS MY GLORY!"

>We have existed in these lands ever since. Living in unparalleled prosperity and beauty. But in the ugly shadows, in the tiny cracks of the Wall of Mountains, jealous eyes leer at our bounty, want it for themselves.

Omarase, The land of Beauty. Prosperous, Just, Enlightened, Beautiful... and Expansionist. They do not conquer, they destroy. Any other culture is erased, their works crushed. Their gods aren't even safe, as their names are erased and their power and domains absorbed as they're consumed by Beauty. For these things are Ugly, as they have rejected Her Beauty and while Beauty is a Loving goddess, nothing ignites her anger like ugliness. The whole world should be, nay, NEEDS to be Beautiful and united under her Benevolent rule.

Omarase, The land of Beauty. The center of all things magical. The expensive but ubiquitous Flesh Shapers can mold a deformed elderly man into a handsome strapping lad in the prime of his youth. Grand and ornate structures stretch to the clouds. Exotic and powerful beasts of burden are produced daily by the Chimera Breeders. Magical Academies train more people with the Talent yearly than lesser nations do in an entire decade.

Flesh Shaping

Almost the signature profession of Omarase. These skilled mages use a combination of alchemical process and Magical incantation to alter bodies into any form they wish. A hunchback stands tall. A burn victim has smooth mar-less skin. The short can be come tall. The man can become a woman and vise versa.

Flesh Shaping, however, is very expensive. This is due to the sheer amount of training required to perform the art. Practitioners need to be intimately familiar with the human body's anatomy or risk crippling or killing their charges.

An intense sense of artistry must also be instilled in each Flesh Shaper. If the practitioner has a horrible sense of form or shape, then their patient will end up looking off, fake, or worst of all, Ugly.

It takes nearly a decade of intense study, on top of regular magical training in order to be a Flesh Shaper, and due to the sheer demand for their services. The Flesh Shaper's Guild can demand any price.

Due to the magical nature of the procedure, Magically active individuals are more receptive to the process, and much more receptive to the ministrations of the Flesh Shaper, allowing for more drastic changes to the original form. The Mage's predisposition to eccentricity often leads to them commissioning bodies that are more exotic, strange, or (normally) flat out impossible.

>The Coven of Plentiful Fruit

An order of Witches that resides in their conclave in the northern region of Omarase. Born of an Offshoot of Flesh Shaping named Tsaa Reaga or called "Gut Magic" by the layman, these witches wield absolute mastery over their bodies. They can grow to imposing stature, increase their strength to that of ten or even twenty men, run faster than a sprinting cheetah, and use their own bodies as fuel for super charging their magic spells. All at the requirement that they keep themselves obese to fuel their abilities without self harm.

The Coven has a sordid reputation. Though a decent portion of it is due to their physical appearance, They are disliked due to their involvement with The Trolls.

When a practitioner of Tsaa Reaga fails to sharpen their intellect regularly, or practice moderation in their abilities their minds start to dull, and they begin to become addicted to the sensation of growing. They begin to allow themselves to grow in haphazard and often grotesque ways. Eventually an Inhuman hunger takes hold of them, and their skin turns a sickly color and they become Trolls. It is an open secret that Coven members try not to divulge.

The Coven is met with suspicion to those whom know this secret. But none will fault their zeal in combating any and all Troll Encroachment from the north.

>Chimera Breeders

A third second offshoot of the Flesh Shapers. Whereas the Flesh Shapers proper are often likened to Physicians, The Chimera Breeders are equal parts rancher, breeder, biologist, artist, and veterinarian.

They craft the beasts of burden of Omarase, beasts that can outperform any horse or ox.

They design and mold the perfect hunter's companion, tailor made specifcally for the individual.

They hatch the pets of the nobility, Lovingly combining the traits of adorable companionship, crafting the perfect friend to give to little Suzy on her seventh birthday.

>Beauty, The Patron Goddess of Omarase.

Depending on who tells the tale, Beauty is either a Benevolent, Loving goddess. Or a horror that beguiles, pillages, and consumes. In truth, both recounts have nuggets of truth.

Beauty cares for each of her followers like a mother would a child. She guides them to prosperity, and wants only the best for them. She wants the best for ALL mortals. However, what is best for all mortals is HER version of best. Under her rule.

It is a well known fact that she gained the power and portfollios of every god she's ever defeated, absorbing their essence entirely. She even absorbs their followers, though not directly. So long as they adopt the customs and lifestyle of Omarase, they are allowed to worship the domain of their god through her. These are the Cults of Beauty.

Lust, Justice, Harvest, Rivers, Moon, Health, Strength, Art and Song are all the gods she's absorbed, becoming an aspect of her. The Cults worship these aspects, and often pair them with parts of her Divine form. Theologians claim that Beauty is too beautiful to perceive fully, so you must focus on a part of her godly form. The Right Hand of Justice, The Left Hand of Strength and so on.

>Fertility, The Mother of All.

The first Goddess to defect to Beauty's cause. Part in due to Pragmatism, and part due to the fact Beauty had defeated and absorbed her sister Lust before setting her sights on her.

Her role has changed little since she joined, if only in station. She is subordinate to Beauty and not an equal like she was to Lust. However her association with Beauty has made her far more powerful than she was before.

She holds domain over life, maturity and children. Weddings typically invoke her name, Midwives are anointed by her, and orphanages are typically controlled by her followers.

>Machinae, The Man-made God

A God made not from an aetherial spirit, nor ascended from a common mortal, but an artificial soul, crafted being a union of master craftsmen and wizards, wielding the greatest advances in magic. An ascended soul made by man, a custom-built God.

This is not a temperamental God, for its astral mind is composed of lovingly crafted leyline logic circuits, a cold emotionless perfection. It is an automated divine spirit, designed and ruling over the technomancers, to better aim the collective progress of the technology and knowledge to forward progress for all.

Beauty and her Followers have a extreme distaste for Machinae. For how can one rule, if they do not truly care?

>Merriment, The Master of Ceremony.

Merriment joined Beauty sometime after the final defeat of Strength. He petitioned that there was beauty to be found in festivites, and frankly with all his previous drinking partners dead or running to the far corners of the world, he was bored.

The master of ceremonies was charged at keeping the spirits of Beauty's subjects high, and their lives full of fun. He agreed and pursued his task with zeal. Some say durring particularly rambunctious events, he decides to crash the party. Participants usually have no memory of the event, save for the fact they had a wild time.

He holds dominion over festivities, contests, entertainment, and alcohol.

Warren Ellis explored this, I think. All the Indian scientists and theophysicists in India all came together to craft the perfect God for them because they're suffering so badly and they needed something metahuman to protect them. They poured all their doctrines and sutras and intelligence into it and when it woke up, it promptly slaughtered everyone because the greatest threat to India was its people.

It's a pretty good read.

>The Hunter, God of the Hunt

Durring the war of the gods, The Hunter had been stalking the GiggaUrsa(sic). When just as he was about to strike it down, he spied Beauty engaged in battle. He observed her ferocity in her hunt for her foe that he was smitten immedately. After her final victory over Strength, He attempted to woo her, offering the pelt of the GiggaUrsa. She politely refused. Hunter, being more than a little stubborn, thought she was playing hard to get and stalked and struck down greater beasts to win her approval. All his advances were politely refused.

Finally Merriment gave The Hunter advice, "Give her a gift, of your own make." He thought long and hard, and then he used his domain over beasts and crafted to beast folk. Modeling them after the sacred human form i attempts to please Beauty.

What happened afterwords is up to debate. Some say the beastfolk were too, politely refused. Some say Beauty Scolded Hunter for creating the Beastfolk Improperly. Others say she was so taken with his creations that they had a tryst behind the moon.

Regardless, his attempts at creation were hit or miss, but his efforts gained him the right to operate within Omarase.

He holds domain over Hunters, beasts, sport, and beastfolk.

>Trolls
It is an open secret that the Trolls are related to The Coven of Plentiful Fruit, though very few know the particulars. Texts hidden away within The Coven's temple tell tales of the First Fallen. Who in her hunger, devoured the entirety of a town to feed her addiction to growth. Unable to slay their sister, the coven somberly banished her beyond the Northern Mountains.

Since then, Purebred Trolls occationally find their way through the rocky crags. They are dull, sluggish and tempermental. Their hunger for meat and protein is obscene and they're extremely hard to kill. With enough fuel, they can regenerate wounds and their skin is hard as iron. Not to mention their monstrous strength. They are often dressed in hides and have ruddy green skin tones.

Perhaps more dangerous than Trolls are the Troll Mystics, The official classification for fallen practitioners of Tsaa Reaga. While their minds have dulled from their previous levels, they still retain much of their training and knowledge. More importantly, their ability to perform magic. They can be distinguished by their vibrant yet sickly tone of skin, ranging in the reds and purples, To speak nothing of their brutish and often morbid fashion sense.

>Trolls, cont.

It is a known fact that The Trolls control a majority of the land beyond the northern mountains. Entire settlments are known to disappear overnight, only to be replaced by troll villages afterwords.

Heralding these disappearances are the appearance of the Gretchen. Short, green skinned young women. They are extremely clever and have an almost religious dedication to "Create offerings" for a being they revere. Said being is often refered too as "The Motherland" or "The Mountain that Walks."

Regardless, When a Gretchen arrives at a settlement, they attempt to teach a corrupted version of Tsaa Reaga, Called Tsaa Kothul, to the locals. Like its parent discipline, it focuses on altering the body, however it does not enhance the body. Rather, Tsaa Kothul changes the body into a weapon and is observed to be more corrosive to the spirit and mind. Turning its practitioners into Trolls quicker.

It should be noted that Gretchen are actually Purebred Trolls. In scientific terms, they are a Troll's larval stage.

Worryingly, Slave peddlers like to keep Gretchen stock. As they find their tireless work ethic and pleasing visage to be good selling points.

>Practitioners to Tsaa Kothul

Wild sorcerers, barbarian warlocks, desperate magicians. Typically tutored by a Gretchen infiltrator. For whatever reasons, they wanted to learn to turn their entire bodies into weapons.

They can often told apart from the regular person from their torn clothes, misshapen limbs, and a increased protein intake.
>>

>Beastfolk

The forests to the west are where the most Beastfolk reside. Roughly half of all beastfolk can be considered intelligent. Typically a good indicator is how much they resemble a human.

When beastfollk enter a settled area, they are given a test. Depending on the results of the test, they are either offered full citizenship, half citizenship, sold as pets, or released back into the wild. Beastfolk pets are seen as a great luxury, due to the relatively difficult taming period.

There are some intelligent beastfolk who refuse citizenship and head back into the wilds. They often form communities of their own. If they don't become bandits.

Beastfolk who have magical ability aren't rare, but difficult to teach. Due to the inherent dangers of magic, any beastfolk whom possesses magical ability yet lacks the intelligence to become a full citizen is Euthanized.

Actually, in all the threads, not a whole lot has been said about Origin. The land Beauty lead her people from.

Also a bit of lore that fell through the cracks but was mentioned in the last thread that Justice actually GAVE beauty his domain so she could have the power to take on Strength.
>>
>>42846595
Justice was also dying and possibly senile
>>
>>42846595
these are both true. So let's address them.

Omarase is run by a Nobility Republic. Nobles campaign and elect themselves to a Counsel of Nobles who in theory evenly represent the entirety of Omarase.

Nobility can be attained via heritage, purchasing a title, or by being granted a title by merits from the Noble Counsel.

Counsel Members serve four year terms. And within the Counsel itself, there is an election for the Speaker of the Counsel. Who's job it is to direct and arbitrate upon counsel discussion and decisions. There is a permanent seat on the Noble Counsel for the Cults of Beauty. An appointed Representative will take this seat and can hold it for four years.

Just Trip code...Now then I look at your world and I see moutains...like Cracks in the world.

So I shall share with you the ballad of the Dragon God.

There was a time when the world was perfect smooth and untouched a thing of utter beauty and perfection. However within it lie the potential for life and that life hatched.

And So was born the God of the Dragons the Very mountains are but the cracking of the world's shell and that fertile valley where it emerged. In it's time it held ALL of the domains for they were his horde, but as often the story with dragons and hordes their wealth was coveted.

I'm sure you all know how that story goes. The Dragon is slain and it's horde taken from it leaving it with nought but death.

The Dead God of the Dragons. The Dragons were born of no gods but the earth itself and they fear death more then any other mortal race for as their god is death there is no 'after' life. So they amass their horde and buy off their death another day, another year, another century. To take from a dragon's horde is to steal days off it's life.

The question that looms in every Dragon's mind is how long can they buy off the specter of death.
>>
>>42847596
So the god of death is a dragon?... I can get behind this.
>>
>>42847596

Also, this again brings up the concept of extra planes or realms. This needs to be explored.

So far we have a
>Realm of the Gods - a parallel of the real world where the Gods reside and preside over their territories. The God's influence directly effects the size of it's territory
>Realm of Death - The home of the Hellwyrm Bahamut and the realm that all souls go to after death. It is split between a hell, neutral and heaven segment, presided overall by Bahamut. A dead dragon instead goes directly to Bahamut to be absorbed to increase his power.
>>
>>42845358

>>42847800

>>
>>42847823
I agree. I am tired of Bahamut I was actually planning on leaving him a nameless dragon.

Perhaps humans or their ilk have named it, but the dragons need no name for it. They recognize it as the envitable death.
>>
>>42847868
How about an elemental plane? Not elemental planes but one plane where the elementary concepts dwell and leak into the world perhaps through the place where our dragon hatched? Which would be a wellspring of energy?

Education is mandatory for all individuals who posess magical ability. They are trained as soon as they manifest at the nearest school until the headmaster there can assess they have a decent sense of control. All settlements have at least one magical school to teach all ages. This Training has a minimum length of two years, regardless of ability and can last indefinitely.

What sort of technology level does Omarase have? Magic does make a lot of things irrelevant, or at least forces a different way to approach things.

Do they have black powder weapons? Ships powered by Bound Wind elemental? Printing press? Fast Food restaurants?

In previous threads, the idea of periodical magazines were entertained.
>>
I guess it all depends on how cooperative the world's natural magics and the competing/un-assimilated aspects are vis elemental magic.

It feels like Omarase itself would probably be lacking in much real 'high tech' thanks to Machinae's influence but the printing press would have probably been a big hit. Not so much firearms, electricity, etc.

> Knowledge
One of the oldest among the gods, rumored to perhaps have created the rest or maybe even humanity itself (as are many others). Originally the patron of scholars, magicians, inventors, explorers, and others that thirsted to learn. Unfortunately that patronage lead directly to the fracturing of her worship when followers created and elevated Machinae to godhood in replacement of her.

Now substantially weakened by this badass new god's creation and veneration she's become a much more distant deity. Partially out of fear that Beauty may come knocking.... She still serves as an inspiration to scholars and philosophers throughout the world, biding time for humanity's god to fail...

I've got some stuff on Guile, Apathy, and a third one that I'm working on.
>>
> Guile

The beauty (pun intended) of being the goddess of guile is that no one's entirely sure if you're alive or what you're doing. Over the endless span of time on Omarase, her machinations have been variously pinned on Trickery, Merriment, Strength, and a dozen other gods or goddesses.

Guile herself is less about overt worship then most gods. The more intelligent or crafty rogues and thieves often times call upon her for assistance, which considering their actions they may receive. Her few priests often operate in secrecy, worshipers having to seek their hidden chapels out to prove their devotion. Some political factions pay her tribute in hopes of securing advantages.

In the struggle for aspects she covertly supported her brother strength against Beauty while staying away from a fight that would risk her own domain...

Not quick to anger, Beauty's destruction and consumption of Strength has set Guile on a path of cold, calculating vengeance unseen on the mortal planes that is only now starting to bear fruit. What exactly her intent is in masquerading as agents of her dead brother to rally his scattered desert dwelling followers, sure to raise the attention of Beauty's agents, remains a mystery but it certainly bodes ill for the tempestuous goddess....
>>
> Apathy

Shockingly, Apathy has a land of her own in the far north where it seems life is just too lazy to happen. While people may jokingly pay homage to her, especially teenagers and many drunkards, there are few who would wish the curse of Apathy on themselves or others. In the main serious worshipers are the drug addled or the aristocracy, though they may not realize who exactly they're venerating.

Wandering the world in search of a place to 'chillax' and 'just be cool' for a while the appearance of Apathy's grungy figure is a horrifying sight to enterprising farmers and innocent townspeople. Lasting years unless some other god or their servant can be convinced to make staying too inconvenient Apathy will otherwise just sort of... Hang around.

Perhaps the most pernicious of Beauty's enemies for the simple fact that she doesn't want to absorb Apathy's repulsive aspect and stamping out the pernicious rot of her domain can be nearly impossible once it takes root.
>>
>>42844628
Suppose i aught to throw up an image of Strength.
>>
> Stars

Worship of the Sun, the Moon, and other visible celestial bodies is fairly common among the desert civilizations, trolls, mountain tribes, and some coastal fisher villages. While Omarase's stellar system has it's own deities they bow down to the great goddess of the Stars.

The Stars is a being from beyond the bounds of the planet, from a distance known only to her. Most of her direct worshipers are astronomers, astrologers, oracles, hedge wizards, cults, and those who carry out their business under Her light. In most countries her worship is itself considered a cult, with their dark robes and habit of frequenting standing stones in the dark of Night.

Stars herself rarely appears in Omarase, though her relationship with Beauty and most other gods is distant but polite. She keeps herself busy with her partner, Night, arranging the signs for mortals to witness and other more unfathomable duties. Particularly daring (and heretical) mortals suggest that the Stars and the Night merely use their time to engage in more carnal activities...

The best case scenario when trying to summon the Stars is you fail. Far worse is to succeed and distract her from her duties.

God of Wanderers, Wisdom, Seekers, and those without a home. It is said that in the old times, the Vagrant wandered freely among mortals, giving advice, and sometimes gifts, to those in need, often when in the form of an elderly traveler. He was presumed slain during Strength's invasion, but recent rumors of unexpected charity in the fringes of civilization have some scholars claiming a return of the missing God, but most dismiss the rumors as just being due to Beauty's divine prosperity.

Now then, on to actual communication with the gods. We know that the Gods reside in a parallel realm that mirrors the base realm in every way. Now how does one go about actually speaking with gods? Can the Cult of Beauty actually commune with her? Or does she give them fits of divine inspiration? When intervention is required does she send an avatar of her will? Or does she appear in person?

I'd imagine that actual Communing with the deities in this setting varies according to their relative power level. Like how the majority of people say that Beauty cannot be perceived entirely, you can only focus upon parts of her.

Whereas gods like Apathy, Merriment, The Hunter, and The Vagrant; you might actually have a chance of seeing them in person.

I also imagine that with a group of sufficiently powerful mages could potentially summon deities to the mortal realm for a short while.

Though they may or may not like the fact that you interrupted what they were just doing.

>The Crucible of Beauty.

Equal parts Martial Arts College, and Historical Society, This Arena is the training ground for Omarase's champions.

The Principal combat styles taught are Thousand Cuts, The Long-sword (Two handed) style that favors quick strikes and counters over defense, and Billowing Sails, a style of unarmed combat that combines close range fist strikes and swift crippling kicks, often with a hardened steel toed boot. Developed at sea by bored seamen.

Most interestingly, The Cruscible of Beauty is also one of the few societies interested in preserving the cultures of conquered lands. Specifically preserving their martial traditions, so that they may be taught, adapted, and prepared against.

God I hate that hackneyed tired old cliche. "Protect us!" "I have decided the best way to do this is to enslave/murder all of the people I am supposed to protect, because this is so ironic and clever and insightful. If there were some entity writing out my actions I would fellate him to congratulate him on how clever he was."

Sorry, I just really fucking hate this cliche.
>>
>>42864727
>and counters over defense

Going for counters without a solid defence is suicide.

Since you've waited for your opponent to attack, you now have an incoming attack to deal with. If you want to live, that must take priority. The counter then flows from your defence. And this holds true in single tempo fencing as well (where attack and defence is one single action), you make sure the defence part is solid, and then add in as much of an attack as you can manage on top of that. So the counter still flows form the defence technically, while being simultaneous in time.

A defensive style on the other hand needs the counters, because otherwise it won't get to attack, and the attacker can simply keep attacking until he gets lucky.

So if you want to kill people, a defensive style and a counter based style is the same thing.
>>
>>42864946
By counter i mean striking the foe as they're striking interrupting the attack while connecting with your own. Or by defending in such a way that every defensive action is also an attack.

I won't claim to know much about swordsmanship, so proper terms aren't my forte.
>>
>>42864727

While The Crucible is the primary Repository for martial traditions, styles, and forms It is not the only way to learn the martial arts. Outside of regular military training, the most common method to learn is to find a private tutor. Martial Tutors typically ply their trade in the houses of Nobles, but will typically not turn down aspiring students with ample time and coin, regardless of social standing.

The most common weapon to see on someone's belt in the city is a "Cut and Thrust" Side Sword. Expanding the view to encompass all of Omarase the weapon would be a hold over from their immigration from Origin, The Messer.

In areas where a certain trade is dominant will have battle hardened tools of that trade. Axes for lumber workers, Picks for miners, Harpoons for fishermen, Sharpened Steel Crochet hooks for textile workers. ect.
>>
>>42865154

Special attention should be given to the humble Quarterstaff and Cudgel, As the have religious significance. They were the favored weapons of Old Man Justice. Legend has it, that when Beauty defeated Strength it was with Justice's favorite staff.

As such, particularly pious law enforcers and servants of the rule of law often wield them. They are often lovingly crafted, often with special woods and techniques so that a sharpened blade can never out pace it.

>>
>>42865600

>>
>>42865005
>striking the foe as they're striking interrupting the attack

If they have already gotten their attack going, see above.

If you hit as they are "winding up" then your opponent is just bad, because he started the attack in an unsafe manner while you where close enough to hit him.

I wouldn't base an entire fencing style around the assumption that your opponent will not just fuck up, but also fuck up in that specific way.

>Or by defending in such a way that every defensive action is also an attack.

That's the single time/tempo fencing.

Terminology isn't the problem here, countering in fencing is much the same as countering in, say, hockey. The opponent commits to an attack, you stop that, and hit back before he can adapt. But there you have to stop the attack first. Simply sending all your guys over to have a chat with their goalie while their attack is still going strong won't work. Same thing in fencing. Your opponent attacks, you defend, then counter. Try going straight for the counter and the attack will nail you. The difference being that the stakes can be a bit higher in fencing, so now your stomach has been pierced and you'll spend the next few days dying from acid and bacteria sloshing around in your abdominal cavity.

I've got something for the Pagans and Machinae:

> Shatterlands

Once the territory of Strength, this grouping of islands was once part of the mainland, but after Beauty's rampage almost destroyed the entire territory, and scattered whatever remained into the sea. Upon these islands live what remains of Strength's followers, living under a council of chieftains.

>Vulcanan

Those that live to the south under Machinae's guidance have named the land after one of those responsible for creating their god. However, they lack solidarity, and a sort of civil war has broken loose, with each faction proposing a different form of technology for Machinae to champion. Machinae has decided to let this conflict continue, under the impression that whoever wins the conflict must possess the superior technology.
>>
>>42873503
I do like the shatter lands quite a bit and the justification for the Vulcanan is sound.

I have one more

>Adamantio

Those that live to the North of the Machinae's territory and push into the mountainous region. They are constantly threatened by beasts of the mountain, especially dragons looking to expand their hordes. As such, they have developed a siege mentality and have built the most advanced defences in Ormarase, great rolling fortresses and Magitech Artillery pieces to name but two.

So. One thing that people obsessed with appearance would be weak against would be curses of ugliness. Not as a direct combat thing. But as a terror weapon. I imagine that there are various very easy spells(it does not take much skill to ruin something) that can make someone hideous that are used by people against Beauty.

Rumors that nobles hire mages who can do this in secret to curse rivals are vile slander.

Xeltil, I love your work and I was hoping to put forward a tentative idea for a new god

Savant, the god of scholars, scribes, and academia remained neutral during the war of the gods, preferring to keep to the library-like monastery he keeps. Within this austere holdfast he kept about him those with a keen desire for knowledge and invention. HIs monastery sits in the mountains on the border of Omarese, and Savant keeps his libraries open to those who would learn. He remains neutral, and continues his Great Works, as mysterious as these are.

That seems more extreme than what I had in mind.
I figured the social system in Omarase was similar to the one in manyuu hikenchou, though with other forms of beauty besides breasts also being important, and that an order of magically talented rouges can "steal" people's beauty using a simpler variation of Flesh Shaping, and that such a fate is a type of punishment a person can receive, akin to jail time or community service.
And that particularly talented ones can use the stolen beauty to enhance their own features, leading to corruption and the like.
>>
>>42894673
Well, that's why I noted assassins, probably should have elaborated more, but I was thinking of the in setting equivalent of assassins, not the standard beauty thieves
>>
>>42894769
Well the way I imagine it there would be two types. Those who work for the government legally, punishing those people who are sentenced to "beauty reduction" or whatever we want to call it, and those who work illegally, either for the highest bidder out to cut down a rival's social standing, or a talented person out to steal people's assets and make them their own to improve their personal lot.
And of course there are the corrupt officials who do the second while still being part of the first.

One of the original tennats of this setting was "Everything was of Human origin". While that's fallen off a bit, its still a good guideline for lore.

In what way is The kraken, or the Cyclops connected to, or born from, humans?
>>
>>42898804

The kraken is born of a mutinied captian's anger and the ever fickle Sea. Exacting revenge on all ships that it comes across for the actions of the captian's old crew.
>>
>>42900189
>mutinied captian's anger and the ever fickle Sea

That does raise the question, is there a goddess of the Sea? Since the current divines seem to be based on human/mortal aspects and emotions, perhaps the Sea is part of the pantheon of primal spirits that first ruled the world after the death of the Dragon God.The primals would then be defeated by the very things they brought to the once perfectly empty world, living beings.

First to be conquered would be Nature, by her own children, as she sought to suppress the sentient's desire to advance. Then perphaps next would be Fire and Earth, as humanity rose in intellect and began to use their physical aspects in their creations.

Sea or Water could be the one of the final primals left free. Earlier some of you said that Fire and Ice lived in a glacier-topped volcano. Perhaps they cooperated humanity and supplied them with power in exchange for their divine souls.

Even aspects of Water have been conquered already, the rivers, lakes and springs plied by human and non-human hands. But the Sea remains free, untamed and fickle. And the Kraken is one of her many physical Aspects

Did something up for the beauty stealers.
>The Broken Mirrors

Within the shadows of beauty lies this order. Rogues, theives, assassins, and political engineers. They are tasked by the more cavalier members of the guard, or vengeful and petty nobles to ruin the lives of others.

One of their most feared and commonly used abilities is Flesh Warping. While a steady hand and time is required to mold the body into perfection, it takes but a few seconds to ruin it. They mar, distort and ravage the bodies of haughty nobles and peasants alike. Rumor has it that the Broken Mirrors can further manipulate bodies, and steal beauty, adding it to their own. Holding it ransom or enjoying their ill gotten gains for themselves.

Darker tales say that this technique can be even further exploited, and completely absorb a person, body and soul. Much like Beauty and her fallen rivals. Grow in power and unnaturally extend their lifespan.

An addition, if I may

The Golemae
- It is a well-known fact that the Goddess Machinae was artificially constructed by a coven of Master Soul Forgers, Arch Wizards and Lord Magotech Artificers from immense amounts of magic and carefully crafted magotech circuitry. The process, understandably, is one of the most well-kept secrets in the entirety of the world, known only to the High Coven. However, there are clues to be seen in the rare and secretive Golemae

The Golemae are forged humanoid magical entities of metal, wood and stone, powered by arcane mana circuits and magotech. What differentiates the Golemai from the average constructs or cybrid is that unlike the construct, it has a mind of its own, capable of logic, thought, emotion and free will. Unlike the cybrid, which is a mortal soul bound to a construct body, the Golemai have an artificially created soul. It is theorized that the Golemai are prototypes of the Goddess Machinae, and She in Her wisdom and mercy, turned them loose into the world.

It is rare to see a Golemai, but there have been reports of sightings concerning large humanoid in gleaming armor visiting villages and teaching the peasantry technological knowledge previously only known to the Machinean worshippers. Perhaps Machinea wishes to advance the global technological level, or perhaps She plans to goad her followers with competition. We only know that the Golemai exist, and their souls are unlike anything ever seen on Omarase
>>
The Church of Machinae

The offshoot branch of Knowledge is a secretive lot, for very good reason. In the faith of Machinae, intention is secondary, function and effectivity is primary. The Man-made Goddess will only grant boon to those that prove themselves worthy, and the only sacrifice She accepts is invention, innovation and new uncharted knowledge on the functions of the fundamental laws of reality and magic.

This has turned her church into an Academy, with high priests gaining rank and favor through technological innovation. Plagiarism is heavily hated, and secretively planned. Machinae cares not from where innovation comes, only that it does not hinder future growth.

At the top of the hierarchy lies the Coven, and elite club of the savant, the genius, the creative inventor. The Coven runs the Church administration, taking care of the Holy Patents, coordinating giant manufactorums, and handling the distribution of the Communion to the church branches. The Communion is an astral communications device that allows a technomancer of sufficient strength and faith to "talk" with the Goddess.

At the top of the Coven ranks are the High Coven Lords, the greatest minds of the Church of Machinae, able to commune directly with the Goddess and field esoteric magotech of such power and grace that they are like angels from the astral plane, which they are, in a way.
>>
>>42902414
For the sake of confusion i suggest renaming the Coven into the Cabal or Coterie.

Other alternate ideas for other/minor factions

The Dragon God of Greed
There was once a Goddess of Greed, secretive and hungry. She was a close ally of Lust, until Beauty came roaring in. True to her nature, Greed saw the future power of Beauty, and sensing the oppurtunity, sold all information she had on Lust to Beauty. With this sudden increase in capital and divine power, she layed low and made plans to preserve herself, knowing that Beauty will not be slacked by Lust alone. Greed sought the ancient dragons, one in particular, Aurus the Golden Dragon. Aurus possesed the largest dragon horde in existence, enough to slake the thirst of the Hellwing for millenia. Greed told Aurus of her plan, in all its audacious glory. Greed planned to "propose" to Aurus, marrying the great dragon and fusing their power into one great entity strong and alien enough to ward of Beauty.

It was insane, true, but the plan when completed will allow both access to combined treasure horde of the Golden Dragon and the Goddess of Greed. Blinded by their hunger and the hidden agendas in their mind, both entities smilled as they agreed to the plan.
>>
>>42902637
Two powerful beings, wanting to buy off death. Fits in strongly with the Dragon mythos already established.
>>
>>42902637
The ceremony was grand, hosted by Beauty, witnessed by the Gods and led by Fertility herself. As the binding vows were struck both beings revealed their true intentions. Using the binding vows, driven by their avarice and greed, both Beings sought to dominate and consume the other. They sought the combined power for themselves and themselves alone, unwilling to share to their "partner".

It is at this point that the tale divides, some say that they fought and bled on the altar, rebuffing the watching gods and tearing great chunks of the astral plain in their fury. Some insist that it was a silent mental battle, a divine contest of wills with the gods watching in respect. And some more radical views tell that Greed took a page from her once-ally and "culminated" the marriage then and there, using her very body to meld with Aurus and gain control.

Whatever happened, the results were clear. At the end a singular being emerged, both Greed and Aurus and yet not. A female dragon whose scales shone with the gold and gems of Greed's finery, possessed with the wisdom and acumen of Aurus, and with a hunger greater than any of the two. This entity became the great Dragon God of Greed, Avarice

Avarice makes her home in the mountains, deep in a large caldera between the borders of Machinae and Omarase. In the caldera bowl itself lies Avaritia. Avaritia is one of the great trading hubs of the world. On this city lies the headquarters of many Trading Guilds, economic conglomerates trained by Avarice herself, venerating their patron goddess in substantial payments, of course.

I like the idea of having older, elemental gods that were displaced by the more human gods, representing civilization taming the lands and giving man dominion over nature. Except the Sea. Humanity may call themselves the masters of earth, but any sailor knows that out on the sea you're at Her mercy. Considering how unpredictable the sea can be, and how much freaky things live there, the Goddess of the Sea should be scary as fuck.

Perhaps you also still have some barbarian tribes in the wilderness who worship the first gods and dislike both the followers of Beauty and the other new gods.

>>
>>42854138
I would avoid interpreting Beauty consuming other deities literally. I see it more like her taking their power and portfolio, causing the god to fade away since they no longer have a domain, or to become her avatar with no power of their own.
I know /tg/ has a strange fashination with vore goddesses (see Lilium, the original draft for the Empyrean setting, and a bunch of other similar things), but I don't see much point in adding extra magical realm for the sake of it (at least with Lilium the vore goddess stuff was a "natural" continuation of succubi eating souls).
>>
>>42894511
The way I see it, while Beauty may be the most powerful God in the setting, it still takes a lot of effort to assume another deities' portfolio. Therefore those gods haven't been spared so much as given a temporary reprieve until there are no more hostile gods for Beauty to deal with.

I feel like the older, primal gods should all be male to contrast with the new human gods all being female.
>>
>>42903544

Honestly i have no clue what the hell i was doing when i made it. I just made it a point to make it greener when it was near water.
>>
>>42903178
Because that's not a very helpful comment, I might as well explain where deserts do come from.
First of all, contrary to common notion, deserts are not necessarily defined by being hot, but by being dry. The interior of Antractica is a desert, for example, because it never, ever, rains there.
So, to get a desert you need an area with very little rainfall or air moisture. Commonly this is because of rain shadow (bigass mountain range upwind from the area causes all the rain to fall on the other side of the mountains), or due to near constant high pressure weather front over the area (rainfall tend to occurs around a low pressure front), which is why a lot of the largest deserts occur at certain latitudes. You can also have other factors, such as how the Atacama desert is one of the contenders for the dryest place on Earth (the other being central Antarctica, which has lower average rainfall but Atacama has been without proper rain for longer) despite being next to an ocean due to a cold current off the coast causing all the rain fall over the ocean. Being far enough away from any bodies of water can also cause a desert to form simply because all the moisture has rained down before reaching the area, but you need a hot climate and a pretty big continent for that.

>>42903862
Maybe the other gods, but Sea is female. Ask any sailor, they'll agree. The whole reason why women were considered bad luck on ships was because the sea would get jealous, and that leads to your ship getting caught in a storm or capsised by a rogue wave and everybody dying. Sea is yandere.
It's not like all the human gods were described as female, eighter (Hunter, Merriment and Wagrant are all male, and I think Justice and Strenght were implied to be as well). Although thematically it does make sense that the primal gods tend towards masculine and the "civilised" gods towards feminine.
>>
>>42904566
>The whole reason why women were considered bad luck on ships was because the sea would get jealous
When was that established? I much prefer the primal gods being male and human gods being female to that.

One could argue that Hunter and Strength are Old enough to fall under those terms. Its not humanity was the first species to hunt, or be strong.

Talking about real life folklore. Old-timey sailors were a supersticious lot, what's with being under constant threat of drowning in the middle of the ocean because of sudden storm or something. Sea is usually considered feminine because it's capricious and swings between lovely and trying to murder you with little to no warning.
>>
>>42904683

What does that have to do with what we're talking about?

Personally, I think the best idea would be to keep it vaque. That way you can decide how Magical you want things to be.
Although I do admit that /tg/ does seem to have a thing for vore-goddesses, or more generally vore which involves a powerful predator that usually grows more powerful by devouring things. It seems to be a fairly ofter recurring theme (see also vore-succubi, dragonesses, all-devouring vore-lolis, plu of course Lilium and the original idea behind Empyrean).

Youth? Vainglory? Vitriol? Cowardice?
>>
>>42907847
Cowardice doesn't seem like a god that would really ally with anybody. More like run away or give token support to the one who seems stronger. Youth and Strenght might get along, but Youth might also be easily swayed by Beauty.

Not sure if concepts like Vitril or Vainglory need a god, though. Give every emotion and concept a god and you end up with thousands of petty gods, like god of Mild Discomfort and Goddess of Sarcasm.

>>
>>42911669
If you run out of ideas for gods, that means you probably have enough of em. Unless we go full Shintoism, where every place and concept has a god associated with it, there's no need to have gods for everything. A good way to come up with gods is figure out what the civilisation would consider important, and make a god based on that. Hence why so many cultures have gods of agriculture, art, war, etc. as well as gods embodying traits like strenght, justice, love etc.
>>
>>42911773
Well that's good! One less thing to worry about.

So now what seems prudent is to make up some more adversaries for all of civilization.

Barring that start working on the crunch.
>>

>So now what seems prudent is to make up some more adversaries for all of civilization.
The most obvious thing to turn into a general threat to everybody is the remnants of the primal gods who are out to destroy all civilizations and return the world to the way it was when they were in power.

Why don't we stick with the theme of God naming and just call him Death. First he was Life, and all was hoarded by his domain since Life conquers all. When he died Life became the first to come to the realm of dealth and cried out his injustice. Thus, he who had held sway over all set his curse. That everything that lives shall die. The original mortals who slew the first being became gods. They too are fated to die, but so longas even one mortal should hold the idea of them in their minds they cannot truly die. It is said that should another god be slain without being absorbed and fall into the realm of death, her domain and all ideas of it shall be lost to the world forever. Coveted jealously by Death himself.

The realm of death is an ever-growing field of bones, ash, and charcoal- the only materials in sight. Everyone has ever lived, no matter how famous, how virtuous, how dastardly, resides her after closing their eyes for the last time. Many of the gods desire to pull the souls of their followers upwards upon death, but the Dragon's Pull (as death is sometimes reffered to as) is too strong. Only for the greatest of heroes can a god expend the effort to save a soul. All in the realm of death is the horde of Death. He is a tyrant god who devours any scraps of flesh or bit of plantmatter that lingers upon a soul and dooms all to enter his realm to linger a skeleton or char. While there are a few rumored locals in the realm, they are shrouded in mystery and none but the gods and the greatest of mages and mystics know their secrets. In the very center, the Dragon sits feasting eternally on the scraps of life that shower mournfully upon his land. Here he spews his bouts of cold black fire and schemes against those who sent him there. Though his influence is subtle, whereever there is life, there must be death. Mortals wander the realm in their pitiful forms until they finally reach the end of the cyclopean pile where they lose their last bit of will to go on and add of themselves to the land. Gone forever.

Forge, god of crafting and shaping.

Before the the devouring of Strength by Beauty the second instant of deicide thoughts , Forge and the fairest goddess were great friends. Forge loved beauty and sought to please her whenever he cought. He wrought untold marvels for her and never ceased to top his latest work. Among his creations is a living garden of roses and flowers planted in the direct center of Omarase. Made of a fluid-like metal alloy crafted from only the finest of rare earths and enchanted to smell so beautifully the perfumes made from the precious, irreplacable flowers has quite literally fetched a king's ransom. It was Forge who crafted the great Spear that slew Life in the time before though he did not weild it. It is said that long ago when only Moon and Darkness ruled the night the sky, Beauty cried. While she recognized the beauty in her friend Moon, she lamented at Darkness and wanted him to make the night more pleasing. Inspired by her plight, Forge took the glimmering tears that streamed down her face and fashioned magic hooks that he sunk into Darkness's flesh. Beauty gleamed and Moon rejoiced for an end to her loneliness next to the taciturn Darkness. Forge and Darkness have never been on good terms since and so Forge has always kept his great skyforge stoked so that Darkness will never have a chance at revenge. Forge is responsible for creating the dwarves. Crafting the sacred, primal human, he molded the first men to follow him shorter and stouter so as to be more effecient miners and strong labourors.

Can't find a picture to do this concept justice. I'll ask in drawfag thread the next time I get a chance.

So smitten was Forge by Beauty that he eagerly rushed to show her the stumpy, bulky little race of men he had created. It is said that in her original kindness, she could not bare to tell Forge his creations were easily one of the ugliest things she had ever seen but neither could she stand to be in their presence long and always shyly excused herself when Forge would show them to her. Forge could not understand why his dearest friend would no longer spend her time in his workshop of galleries admiring his masterpieces as she had been so wont to do before. So, he crafted an unbreakable, vorpal blade called Slash and bribed the then king of Omarse to find out for him. When the king returned and explained it was his children that so offended her, Forge immediately set out to improve his dwarves. First, he gave the men long, lushous beards and the women thick lustrious hair. Beauty was not impressed. He removed all their blemishes. Beauty was not impressed. He smoothed their muscles. Still, Beauty was not impressed. He refined their every feature to the point of near absurdity. At this point, Beauty was very impressed but embarrassed by his zeal and stayed away still. She did not like the obsession that had came over her friend and in her naivety did not realize her aloofness was his muse. Forge became creative in his minstrations and tried many different thigns with the bodies of his followers. He tried scales, wings, glowing skin, invisible skin, and even to add an extra finger and toe on each appendage (the only of these characteristics to make the final draft). The sudden madness of their god drove many dwarves away from Forge until his followers dwindled to but a few dozen. These chirldren went on to become many of the fiends and mosters that roam the world today.
>>
>>42914353
Reminds me of the hunter and his attempt to woo beauty with his beastfolk. Maybe she learned her lesson?
>>
>>42914353
Finally, Forge went back to the prince of Omarse who had finally become king retconn king in previous story to favored prince and asked for his advice again this time bribing him with a helm that could always see truth no matter how blackened reality was by Darkness. The king told Forge that he must dazzle Beauty and ought to make the dwarves living works of art more resplendant than any other race on Origin. Forge returned home and asked for five most loyal followers to gather in his workshop. There he flayed their skin and flowed liquid metal over their screaming bodies thus giving them skin of flowing metal radience much brighter than his own flesh of rugged thick steel. He scooped out their eyes and replaced them with the finest cut diamonds and gems he had wrought thus far. He dissembolwed them and replaced their innards with everlasting, mechanical counterparts ensuring the longevity of his creations. Finally, he planted gardens of the finest mosses and luminescent funghi he could find. Beauty descended upon Omarase and saw her king wearing his new crown and asked him where he had got it. Not wanting to divulge Forge's true purpose in creating the dwarves, he attempted to avoid the question. But Beauty would not abide his dismissal, and the king could not truly defy her. So, he told her everything from the very beginning. Beauty was mortified with herself for her lack of insight and grieved all the pain she had caused and him. She sped as fast as she could to his workshop and arrived just in time to witness him breathe his fire into the five dwarves lying unconscious before him. When she gazed upon the five magnificent little beings before her, she froze in her tracks. Never even in her own kingdom did such works of art walk and breathe. Forge smiled widely and embraced her. She begged him to forge the rest of the dwarves in magnificent shapes for her.
>>
>>42914353
I'm imagining that each of these creatures of Forge is a player character on a taste tester run of corruption of champions.
>>
>>42914721
So merry was Forge, that he set away to work immediately and converted the other 48 of his followers into true dwarves, as well. When he finished, he foolishly gifted the last of his followers to her and nearly fell to Death for lack of faithful. Ironically, that which saved him right before finally plunging into oblivion was a lone dwarf defector who gazed at the glorious gifts her fellows had recieved and again knew Forge in her heart. As news of the True Dwarfs spread amongst the defectors worship of Forge reignited. They prayed and prayed constantly for their creator to bestow his gifts upon them as well, but Forge had completed this project and was on to his newest venture at stealing Beauty's heart. The 53 True Dwarves became the highest idols of Dwarvish society and while the lesser dwarves still revere Forge so to are they consumed by Beauty in turn.

Today, the dwarves are a dying race as they paid little mind to reproducing and more to creating great works that may catch Forge's attention long enough to ask him to reshape them too. To date, only three craftsmen have been rewarded. The True Dwarves are ancient and jaded now having basked in luxury and turned to intrigue. In their political machinations, assassination has become a dreaded tool and now only 16 remain.

What do you guys think about this? I'm not trying to say my ideas better and who am I to change something another anon wrote unless a lot of people like it.

>>42914297
Well, I was thinking of something like this for the genesis of Origin. Starts with only Life the dragon. First, he births the dragons then men then some sea based race that has a form netiher hominid or draconic. While the dragons were greedy they mostly minded to themselves gathering precious things into a hoard and the sea people were doing something else, the men watched and covetted Life and eventually a group of them banded togther, killed him, and divied up his hoard. These men became the gods. Once Life became Death, he couldn't kill the gods who had betrayed him and instead cursed humanity to have the shortest of all lifespans.
>>
Is there no god of War, Bloodshed, or Suffering?
>>

What if he holds no grudge against the sea people who worship no gods and fear no death since they did not steal from him. They reside shrouded in mystery in the ocean deaths and are only spoken of in legends. Ancient and undying are they.

He cursed dragons with death since he was angry that his firstborn did nothing to save him from their younger siblings. They were still allowed longer lives since they did not play a part in the butchery or plunder. They may still sacrifice some of their wealth to fend off the Dragon's Pull for a time, but consumed by the same greed as their proginator, they are often unwilling to do this and will either die foolishly of old age or turn to dark magic to prolong their lives.

Okay I like it. And I love your enthusiasm. But this story might have to go through a few iterations.

Omarase is ruled by a counsel of nobles. No king or prince.
a timeline of events should be a bit clearer. Omarase was founded after strength's defeat. It kinda sounds like omarase was already in place.
>>
>>42915332
Ok, then what about it being a priestess of Beauty in her early kingdom (if she had one) long before Strength tried to take it from her.
>>
>>42915377
Well I had the weird idea that Strength stealing from beauty was an adult robbing a child.

Though I like that beauty had a small plot of land for her followers.

>>42915127
Yes, her name is Beauty

Speaking of timeline. How long ago was Omarase founded?

My personal vote is 300years ago. And the war took 15years to complete.

>My personal vote is 300years ago. And the war took 15years to complete.
Part of me says that's too early, the other part says I'd have no idea what an appropriate age would be
There are too many 10000 year empires in fiction

Didn't Beauty end up being the goddess of the last one?
>>
>>42920187
I was more thinking a god of cruelty and suffering. Something that represents all the horrible things people are capable of doing to one and other.
>>
>>42915377
>>42915480
Since the gods are supposed to need followers, she had worshippers at the very least. I'd assume she might have had a kingdom worshipping her since that would give Strenght more motivation to take her worshippers (if she just had a small cult there wouldn't be much reason to bother, but if she's a relatively young and weak goddess who has managed to gain a lot of wroshippers, a stronger god might consider beating her up and taking her followers an easy way to gain a lot of extra worshippers).

>Well I had the weird idea that Strength stealing from beauty was an adult robbing a child.
Would she have still been a child when she took revenge on Strenght, or did she spend a long time preparing for that (or, being a god, did her form change to match the change in her personality)?

Actually, we probably should work some kind of timeline. How long ago did Strenght steal from Beauty, how long it took after that for her to go to war with him and consume him and the other gods that opposed her, when has Omarase founded etc.
>>
>>42920864
Yeah that's what i was talking about in >>42916020

I figure, given Omarase's expansionist attitude, and how much land they ACTUALLY have >>42847011 and the geography, i'd say that Omarase has only been around for at most 400 years, maybe 500.

The war itself i think would have taken at least a decade.

I would say that she was the godly equivalent of a sixteen year old when Strength kicked her in the crotch and stole her wallet.

Justice could have then taken pity on her and tutored her for the next century. while her ruined country prepared for revenge.

What do you all think?
Everyone else please feel free to tweak the living shit out of this. I wasn't in the first 2 threads so I don't know if I stepped on anyone's toes. I tried to get a lot of the gods and the races involved, but obviously favored my own brain children.

>>42863423
>>42864557
Why don't we say that the Gods are largely confined to the realm of the gods so that they are out of reach of the Dragon's Pull. They can descend to the mortal plane when they want, but unless they are in a stage of great rage/focus or surrounded by their followers and their domain they cannot stay long or Death will claim them.
>Hunt can exist physically so long as he is hunting great prey
>Merriment if there is a huge festival
>Lust if there is a huge orgy
>Moon on nights where her full visage is visible and there is no cloudcover
When Strength took Beauty's lands, he was actually manifested and safe because his followers embodied him so well. Beauty in a cold fury was able to descend safely and never had to fight Strength on Origin because she destroyed his followers so thoroughly, he was no longer truly embodied there.

At any time, the gods can send avatars onto Origin that are basically just ephereal shells but safe from Death.

Exceptions
>Machinae because she is a physical god
>Vagrant because he may wander unnoticed by Death
>>
>>42921847
Perhaps Beauty's descension was actually unprecedented. She should have been devoured by Death with so little faithful actually around her, but for a rare instant - even the dead feared her rage.
Thoughts?

Also, not sure what the particulars are for Machinae existing physically. Is she on Origin or in the realm of the gods?
>>
>>42921877
>>42921847

Hrmm, well, lets have a look see.

First off, Origin was originally intended to be a just a land across the eastern of Omarase. However, The world could have been like Pangaea, and was called Origin back then. Thus both the planet and the continent share a name.

as for the planet rearranging, i'd actually figure it happened after Strength divested Beauty. And he used the shifting of the lands as Cunningly Brutal way to get away with it scot-free. At least until Beauty lead her army across the sea.

Death could have placed a ward on the planet. Mortality is his portfolio, and the world is mortal. All Immortals, deity or otherwise, without mortal support or force of will, a deity or other immortal are shunted back into the divine realm. The more powerful the being, the more assistance or will required to stay in the mortal realm.

Also, i'd imagine its entirely possible to not have a domain and be on the divine plane. You just lack the power of a god.
>>
>>42921847
I also imagine that Machinae gets a free pass because she was technically never alive to begin with.

And i also figure that Apathy resides on the mortal plane when she finds a particularly "Choice" locale to "Veg out."
>>
>>42921847
>>42921988
Pretty decent, but you skipped the parts concerning the primal powers.
Also Machinae is an artificial astral god. She was made with physical artifacts and machinery, but the end product was purely energy. She can use the more powerful Golemai or large-scale constructs as avatars, but mostly she limits herself to the networked devices of the Communion.
An interesting large-scale adventure hook could be a rouge techno-cult trying to create a powerful construct body that can "mantle" the core of Machinae and control her.

On the primal gods, you could place them alongside Life the Primal Dragon as the first entities of Origin, back when the world was smooth and pristine. Earth forged the mountains, Water made the liquid that filled the basins made by Earth. Air filled the land with ever moving winds. And Fire burned from the deep and gave everything the force and power to move. All of them contributed in their own way to create all living things, with Life as designer and architect.

We can also put the stellar gods around this point, with Star and Moon shaped from the astral ejections of the sleeping god Sun. Possibilities of an ancient eldritch stellar god that roams the void trapped on the far side of the moon by the stellar couple?
>>
>>42922026
Good point, In fact, you could probably argue that both Night and Stars are extraterrestrial gods. Possibly tending to the other planets in the solar system?

>Machinae
I must have missed that....

>primal gods
You know the original myth was that The earth was an egg from which the dragon Life was born... Who's to say that the other Primal gods aren't also Dragons?
>>
>>42922173
Does someone want to decide on that? Because then the question is if the rest of the gods killed the other primal gods (dragons) after life or if they're still here.
>>
>>42922231
I'd prefer them to still be here, but greatly diminished in power since the rise of the more civilised gods. Hence what I was talking about here >>42912705, them plotting to return the world to a more primal state so as to reclaim their lost power.
>>
>>42922231
Well there were probably 4 or 5 elemental dragon gods in the begining. Then they followed Life's example to create followers, However they instead just divided up their power and delegated responsibilities to thier children. They just kept doing this untill there was nothing left of them.

Which explains why there isn't a god of just water, but Rivers, Lakes, and Sea exist. Well Rivers got absorbed by beauty but that's besides the point.
>>
>>42922286
>>42922290

a combination of these two maybe?
>>
>>42922290
>Well there were probably 4 or 5 elemental dragon gods in the begining.
That sounds needlessly complicated. I personally like the timeline of Life->Primal Gods->Civilized Gods
>>
>>42922317
So like differing eras of who was top dog? After Life's demise, Primal gods were the most powerful thing around, Then this annoying little thing called Civilization came around.
>>
>>42922352
Exactly.
>>
>>42921988
>All Immortals, deity or otherwise, without mortal support or force of will, a deity or other immortal are shunted back into the divine realm. The more powerful the being, the more assistance or will required to stay in the mortal realm.
That would make sense as it would explain why some gods are mentioned to appear on the mortal world, while Beauty is apparently mostly worshipped through her aspects she took from the gods she conquered. Consuming multiple other gods likely made her too powerful to be easily summoned, so she can't directly interact with her followers. Meanwhile lesser gods like Vagran and Apathy have no problem with slipping into the mortal realm at will, because it doesn't take much effort to summon them.
>>
>>42922497
The fact that she can't directly interact with her followers probably frustrates Beauty to no end. She just wants to love and pamper her followers!
>>
>>42922562
>She just wants to love and pamper her followers!
That's not really the impression I got, more like she wants to be loved and pampered by her followers
>>
>>42922923
Really where. It is a fact that she adores her followers and wants them to be beautiful. She also wants everything to be beautiful. In that way, she is honored. I didn't really get the impression that she did it specifically for worship but ever since her bought with the crazies everything must be beautiful.

My real question is why she tolerates the trolls?
>>
>>42923027
She doesn't, she tolerates the Coven of Witches the Trolls spawned from.
>>
>>42923027
her bout*

So original primal gods.
>Life
>Fire
>Earth
>Water
>Air

What if the elementals came first and had no hominid or draconic shape? They simply were. When they finished the planet, Life simply poofed in what with surrounds being so conducive to his existence. After his demise, the primals were also attacked and divided? I like to think that they were simply absorbed by the gods as soon as Life died as he encompassed all of their domains in his hoard or do we want to go with a second bout of betrayal? What gods would come of the breaking of their domains? Water is already fleshed out. Forge could have taken some of his aspects from Earth and Fire, but what else is there really from that line? Humans can't fly so did anything take from or descend from Air?

What if after the new mortals were cursed by Death, they feared their mortality and attacked the primals? Water was almost fully divided and only managed to survive by fleeing to Air and becoming Rain (vastly weakened but occassionally able to shout her fury as Storm). Earth gave freely of his domains to various gods. His whole domain was to provide space for Life so this was no hard sell. Air was far beyond the reach of Mortals and stayed high and powerful. Mortals tried to divy up Fire but only got burned. Thus only Fire and Air remain as primals.

>>42923101
I know but is she waging an all out war of annihilation on them?
>>
>>42923101
I also don't really see why she tolerates them all that much. They are going to become ugly and can be considered ugly in the first place since they are fat. Or is it that they can shape shift into skinny bitches but are secretly fat like on the tax rebate episode of Futuram.

>my beautiful hippopotomus
>>
>>42923164
>So original primal gods.
>>Life
>>Fire
>>Earth
>>Water
>>Air
There were no other gods around at the same time as Life because his domain encompassed everything.
>>
>>42923164
>trolls

The Mountain that Walks is growing in power (and size) and her spawn are encroaching on lands Beauty could use. The Trolls are probably the most immediate threat to Omarase and Beauty herself.

However, with Machinae's followers engaging in resource wars in the ore rich southern mountains with Omarase, her attentions are divided. Not to mention her wishes have recently had a tendency to get "Lost in Translation."

At the moment, The only force that is actively combating them is The Coven of Plentiful Fruit and whatever adventurers and mercenaries they can send north.
>>
>>42923368
So did they spring abck up when he Died? Or did men become them? I thought original mythos was that others helped him create the world. I positted that he came after the world was created because without a world there can be no life.
>>
>>42923454
I only skimmed the original threads, but from what I got the actual origins of the world before Life was around were pretty vague, but maybe I missed something.
>>
>>42923494
Well, is there anything definite or do we have room to play here? Xeltil?
>>
>>42923366
They probably could compress their mass into something more conventionally pleasing, Though it'd probably feel like wearing a full body corset and be exhausting magic wise.

However, they'd probably take measures to become beautiful dispute their corpulence. Nice finery, jewelry, make up, body art, no cellulite, blemishes or stretch marks, Shift the weight into "Good" areas.

>>42923454
>>42923494
We really didn't go into them, All we knew was the planet used to be a smooth egg. And the Dragon that came out had all the Domains. Perhaps Life created the Elementals?
>>
>>42923518
>is there anything definite or do we have room to play here
Well there has to be a definite starting point, and for me Life's birth seems the best place for that.
>>
>>42923521
Forgot about the egg. So Life created even the primals to create a world where all his domains could be stored?
>>
>>42923601
More or less, He was living on his egg. He shaped it to his liking and direct supernatural control over all of its functions belonged to him.. Effectively making the planet the world the largest interactive modern art masterpiece.
>>
>>42923521
>Perhaps Life created the Elementals?
>>42923601
>So Life created even the primals
Why would he do that? It would mean giving up some of his hoard. It makes much more sense for the primals to be the beings who killed Life than for them to be his creations.
>>
>>42923650
Well he's effectively the first dragon. There is no precedent of people killing dragons and stealing their stuff. So you could chalk it up to ignorance or naivety
>>
>>42923679
That doesn't answer my question at all.
What would Life give up being basically omnipotent?
>>42923679
>So you could chalk it up to ignorance or naivety
If he was in posesion of every domain, that includes knowledge.
>>
>>42923650
>>42923679
I mean after a while he was bored having all this power and nothing to do with it so he started making stuff. There was no precedent to ever fear his stuff. Everything was his stuff and it never did anything bad before. In fact, it must have been easy to kill him. He never would have saw it coming and was probably confused as to why parts of his hoard would want to leave his hoard.
>>
>>42923744
>I mean after a while he was bored having all this power and nothing to do with it so he started making stuff.
Okay, but I don't but that he would start handing out domains to the things he created. No dragon just hands out it's hoard for no reason.
>>
>>42923770
No, I see where you're going with this. It's one thing to use the power and make something mundane like mortals and a planet another to make primal gods.
>>
>>42923770
Oh no, i'm not saying he handed out the domains, He just made the things that TOOK the domains. It just that the domains that the Elementals got were the ones that were "Most Powerful"

Either that, or he did give his domains to the elementals, Because they were still his, and so were the elementals. So all it amounted to was him putting something on a different shelf in his closet.

Going even further, Maybe he was curious to see how the Elementals would shape the world if he left them to their own devices and gave them parts of the domain. When he died, they got the domain in full.
>>
>>42923819
Exactly.
>>42923826
>He just made the things that TOOK the domains.
And the things that took the domains are the one's that killed him. Because if they took them while he was still alive, he would take them back.

No i mean after he was killed. He made elementals that were on average more powerful than the mortals he made. They rebelled, killing Life, They got first pick of the domains, the elementals became the Primals.

Okay boys, About to hit the bump limit, Start posting what you want the header image to be. I'll archive this in Suptg, After that i'll sort through he the tread and add everything to pastebins for easy perusal.
>>
>>42923860
Well, it was the men who killed him in the end. They got most of the domains. Although, im still more on board with first he created the 4 elementals to do his work for him. He had Beauty and Forge within him, but he also had Sleep and Apathy. He created tools to do creation for him.

I say the primals were not gods in full but merely very powerful until the humans killed him. Then they inherited theri full domain until other mortals attacked them and split them up as I described earlier.
>>
>>42923892
oh lol so we basically said the same thing

Can we agree the next thread will start off with redoing and perfecting the timeline I made earlier.
>>

That's what I said. I think. Are you saying he was still in possession of all his domains at the instant he was killed? Because that's what I'm saying.

>>42923903
>I say the primals were not gods in full but merely very powerful until the humans killed him. Then they inherited theri full domain until other mortals attacked them and split them up as I described earlier.
That doesn't make sense in the context of the people who killed Life being the ones who inherited his domains.
