>You are a villager girl named Ellen from a small village in the nation of Neir, on the continent of Teege. As a member of the local militia/guard, you were trained in swordplay. Your fighting style is best compared to the hero class, though you're officially considered a knight of Neir. Occasionally, you will shift to another character's POV for a thread or part of a thread if the events they witness are important to know/influence. This will be revealed in the thread's first update if it's the case.

>Your particular goal in a given thread changes often, but at the moment the overarching plot involves the impending war with Dain, as it and its allies start to take action.

>The questmasters are Octoling (myself), and Grandflaw. There's no particular rhyme or reason to who posts when, and sometimes one of us might not appear all.

>Character Death is always a possibility (this is Fire Emblem after all), but your actions can very easily influence who lives and who dies.

>Voting periods will last an average of ten to fifteen minutes, but this may be increased, decreased, or generally changed at any given moment based on voter turnout.

The Fire Dragons reminded Misheil that she would always have a place with them, but she declined, opting to travel West with Garrus' group when you all returned to Rakche. It was arranged for Arion to be sent to the Cord region to reunite with the other Fire Dragons when the gang gets back to Rakche.

Derrick has been taken into custody, though he didn't resist at all, and even urged Lars to comply with his brother and fellow prince's requests to come with them. Maybe they'd be released sooner that way.

Lars, feeling cornered, did... Whatever vague but easy enough thing was necessary to allow Khozen to recognize Garrus as his rightful rider, and Eva would spend much of her time from there (when neither was doing political stuff) resuming wyvern-riding lessons she'd apparently been giving him offscreen.

Your enchanted sword should be ready by the time you get back West, and you sell your Elixir just to be absolutely certain you have enough for this expensive sword you commissioned with Nadiel and Lara (they sell for a surprising amount).

>A. Start the thread in Ladney, picking up your sword
>B. Start the thread in Rakche, just arriving back
>C. Start the thread still out in Cord
>D. You wonder what the Great Miles are up to in Ulir... (be someone in the B-plot group again. Will be offered again later anyway, so no rush)

>C. Start the thread still out in Cord

Should I make this a 20-minute decision time? I guess, yeah, since this could very well determine how padded-out the next little bit of time before plot happens again is.

Garrus promoted to Wyvern Monarch, if it wasn't clear. It's a Lord-promotion class I made up featuring a Wyvern-mounted Axe/Staff-user, and the class of Queen Hauteclere's dynasty.
>>
>>42873937
You're still in the Cord region, Garrus doing a lot of traveling around the area in the aftermath of his victory.

At the moment, you're just on your way back, this time headed back through Bord Village. At an inn, Garrus, Eva Lars, Salia, and Paula are eating, the first-mentioned insisting that they try to get along as a family.

Reese is standing still in his full armor, looking noticeably unthreatened by Misheil repeatedly striking it (and thus him) with a very real Iron Lance. When she isn't a literal fire-breathing dragon, the winged woman doesn't see all too capable of piercing through him. Cheryl is watching intently nearby with Logan.

Mitchell and Vaga are talking about... Presumably ex-thief stuff.

Quidel and his brother are talking somewhere on the outskirts of town, and Victoria is sitting on some roof looking broody. Your mentor, Gorman, and his newfound partner Laurina, seem to have been nearby.

The rest of your typical friend group (Biff, Byron, Natalie, Zoe, etc) are just sort of idly loitering.

You're not all too sure where everyone else is, but you don't have much reason to look either.

>A. Spend time with a particular group (specify)
>B. No, you WANT to look for someone not mentioned (again, please specify)
>C. Nah, skip all this business.

Naturally, your curiosity is piqued in particular by the sight of the knight and manakete.

You approach Cheryl and Logan, and the pegasus knight is quick to answer, "he's trying to impress her."

"Be more impressive if he could do it without armor," the muscley summoner says, fiddling with a heal staff just in case something goes horribly, horribly wrong. "Not that anyone with half a brain would do that."

"I think it's more about fearlessness, really," Cheryl says, "he is... Not very good at courting!"

"I'm... Really not sure she'll be interested at all, but I think it's fine as long as nobody gets hurt and he doesn't cross any lines."

"I guess... Still, I barely know either of them, so observing is the first step towards being a meddling nuisance!"

"Urgh... Just budge already!" Misheil growls before transforming into a dragon and shoving him down. Reese actually has to take some effort to hold her back, and ultimately fails in doing so, before she reverts and flaps her wings, idly hovering over him.

"Urgh... That doesn't count."

She smiles. "It was still very satisfying."

"Yeah... Plenty of folks out there would like to knock me down a peg." Reese pushes himself off the ground, grunting and looking somewhat embarrassed. A small crowd formed when Misheil transformed.

"That being said... Don't be afraid to offer him your help."

"I was just waiting until that wouldn't cause an accidental stabbing!" Cheryl springs up and approaches Reese, asking him if he has a moment.

Logan shrugs quietly.

Logan nods. "Yeah, can't really say I follow Reese's logic there."

"Yeah, he's... Certainly a strange guy."

"That Misheil girl can't just be fixated on her brother forever, though. Least I hope they can be friends enough for her to realize that."

You nod.

"Speakin' of, though, I gotta get back to the Mage General's kids. Bovis is on orders to keep Katina the hell away from Lars after what she tried the other day, but the guy's not a miracle worker."

Let's see how Quidel is doing.
>>
>>42875659
You find Quidel and Nahuel where they were earlier.

"And after all that's happened, she's just... Sitting down for a damned meal with the one who is responsible for Aylen's demise!"

"Quidel, it is... Not so simple. They're clearly trying to convince Lars that this is a group worth staying in, and... By my observations, it is awkward for everyone."

"Hrrg... Still, to think that he may be allowed to wander this country freely again in the future, after all that he's done..."

You decide that this is sort of an awkward time to interrupt an attempt at brotherly consolation, and politely leave them be.

Misheil grows to tolerate Reese over the next few days, but you don't really talk to either of them that much so you don't know any details beyond that.

Gorman's been catching up with Derrick a lot since his capture, so you and Laurina spent more time together. It was surprisingly not awkward at all, her being around Biff and Byron again when they were all hanging with you, Nat, Zoe, etc.

When you inevitably return to Rakche, you see an unfamiliar woman patronizing Anna's stall, and are somewhat surprised she still has shop set up here.

Upon further inspection, the stranger is a very curvy, slightly plump-looking young woman in a set of dark robes, with messy green hair. Judging by her looks, you figure she's a sorceress of some kind, and at the moment she's holding something that's around Anna's neck.

"You know," she says, clutching the pendant, "these are quite rare, considering how few enchanters know how to make them."

"So you noticed my Witch's Pendant! Sorry, it's not exactly on sale. I need it for the purpose of conducting business!"

The probable-mage pouts. "That's a shame, really, since I happened to misplace this exact sort of pendant back when I was on business in Elza Oasis. Have you ever been?"

Okay, it looks like your probable black market dealer acquaintance is entirely at fault for... Whatever this is.

You'll stop this woman short of killing her, anyway.

"Well, that is certainly quite the coincidence! I have been, and someone sold this to me there!"

"Did they say how they got it?"

"I make a policy of not asking that sort of thing, and try to keep confidence with my clients anyway. I apologize for whatever you may think, but this really isn't for sale."

"And it really isn't yours, either." She tugs at the pendant again, gazing intently into Anna's eyes. "Now, can we just right this little wrong? You're still not selling it."

Anna clearly feels threatened here, and she shoots you a gaze, looking like she's really not sure you'll care enough to help.

"H-hey, don't do anything rash!" You finally muscle between the witch and the probable dealer of stolen goods.

"Who's your friend~?" The witch asks after the initial shock of being pushed away.

"We're not friends, and for the record, she absolutely shouldn't be in possession of that if what you reason is true, but... Gods, don't attack her like that over it!" You see that she's clutching the pendant. "Is it yours?"

She nods. "See, I even had this insignia engraved when it was enchanted!" She turns it to one side, which features a very stereotypical image of a wolf on it. "And before you say anything about how generic that is..." She lowers her robe enough to expose a shoulder with a matching symbol tattooed onto it. "It's a mercenary company."

"And which one would that be?"

"Wulf Company. I was supposed to be vacationing in Elza Oasis, but I've had to spend over a month just chasing after my missing Witch's Pendant. At least my search is finally over, so I can get back to them in no time flat!"

Anna chimes in. "You've been 'vacationing' for over a month? That seems pretty irresponsible for a member of such a prestigious mercenary company... Speaking of, terribly sorry about the mistake! A Fimbulvetr tome just happens to have recently gone on-"

"Save it. The boss understands how important this thing is to me, and it's been a dry spell lately, so... No pun intended there." She still hasn't fixed her robe after exposing the shoulder.

"Kinda cliche, though, a wolf motif..."

"Heh, you're telling me, stranger. Boss says he was raised by Garou for awhile... Or did he just say he really admires them? Anyway, yeah."

"Er... If you're done."

The scatterbrained-seeming witch nods and bows. "Then I tip my hat to you... Wait a second, where is that hat?" She feels around her scalp a moment before reaching around you.

"Wh-what the hell are you-?"

She produces a pointed cap from behind your ear, donning it and tipping it before clutching the Witch's Pendant and vanishing in a manner comparable to when Bolse used to teleport around with one, albeit significantly faster than he managed it.

"Er... Can I talk to you for a moment, if that's done?"

Anna breathes in, pouting after the loss of her pendant. She blinks and then shoots you a warm smile, her finger on her lips as many Annas seem fond of habitually doing. "What do you need?"

"Look, we both know how you or your sources probably acquired a few of these things, and it's bad enough I had to get Reese off your back once, but these sort of things happen. You couldn't have a lucky streak forever, and these sorts of thing happen."

Anna nods, frowning, "I won't acknowledge that first sentence, but... Without naming names, unsatisfied customers are a genuine threat to my business and personal safety! That pendant coming into my possession was quite the find for maintaining my business and minimizing travel expenses!"

You sigh. "Look, I think I've heard of Princess Eva mention hiring them back in the gap, but this... 'Wolf Company,' they-"

"Wulf Company! You put more of an 'ool' into it."

"Right. Anyway, what do you know about them?"

"Well, they're primarily based in the Southwest area of the continent, especially Noba, and they're considered by many to be one of the most powerful mercenary companies of all time. Their leader's the 'moral crusader' type, though, only accepts coin from clientele he deems 'righteous enough,' or against 'wicked enough' opponents."

"Right, and since I'm sure you liked using that to seek out information around the continent... Are they working for anyone right now?"

"Last I heard, they were mostly making ends' meet under the employ of the Duchies of Noba."

"Alright, that's good to know... I think. Anyway, you have anything on-" You stop yourself. "Er, never mind. I need to save my money."

You try to find and talk to Natalie, only to discover that she and Mitchell are far, far too busy helping various civilians plan out Garrus' incoming coronation ceremony (he really doesn't want it to be a big deal, but literally everyone besides you that he listens to insists that the morale boost of widely announcing having someone on the throne would be worth it). You find your girlfriend and decide to get picking up the sword out of the way before you accidentally go and buy something, or get shipped out again.

Soon enough, you find yourself in Ladney, approaching the shop of the little man and giant woman.

"Ooh... She's that Witch Pendant woman you told me about?"

You nod.

"Huh," Zoe continues, "wonder if she knows them."

You figure there's one way to find out, and show yourselves in together.

The small masked fellow turns around. "Lara, that girl who wanted that really complex sword made is here, too!"

"Thank you." You and Zoe accept the tea and have seats, tastefully ignoring the rather provocative manner in which the sorceress seems to be sitting.

"So," Zoe says, beating you to the punch, "the... Ellen's sword, is it..?"

Lara nods. "We tried to surprise you by delivering it to Rakche personally when it was done a few days ago, but you were all off East when we finished it, and I wanted to present it to you personally!"

"What's your piece? Ever since last time I came to visit, it's all they've been able to talk about, but I can't actually get these scatterbrains to describe it!"

"Well, between a Devil Sword, a Wyrmslayer, a ring enchanted to repel curses, and a tome created by the most clever of the Deadlords that uses strength..."

"Woof."

"Literally! She was a Managarm." Zoe giggles.

Lara shows herself out to go and retrieve the thing alongside Nadiel, leaving the three of you alone as you ask, "so how do you know them?"

"Forged up a ton of weapons for me and the rest of the boss' inner sanctum back in the day." Producing a VERY thick-looking book of dark magic from beneath her robes, she says, "it's called Gespenst. You try to understand how the hell you can forge a book, but shrug it off when your head starts to hurt. "That... Seems like a pretty big risk when you're so..."

"...squishy-looking?" Zoe asks, noting your lack of figuring out how to word it. When you nod, she continues, "I mean, if you're such a powerful magic-user, then you probably had something in mind to affect that, but..."

The woman nods. "That's what the Witch's Pendant's also partially for. I can hit things, then get as far out of the way as possible in an instant if I have to."

"And you can just do that again and again?" Zoe asks.

"Well... There's a bit of a cooldown."

"Oh, but we haven't introduced ourselves at all! I'm Ellen."

"Zoe. Her... girlfriend..." She blushes and looks down a bit with a smile.

"Are you embarrassed?"

"No, no, Ellen, I just..." In a tiny, somewhat squeaky voice, she says, "I never get over being able to say it."

"You two are adorable," the Witch says before continuing, "my name's Esmer. I'm a-"

"Here it is!" The buxom swordsmith carries a sheathed sword over to you, her mask-loving husband radiating a proud aura.

You draw the sword for the first time in your left hand, noting first the beaststone from the tome embedded in the handle, itself a deep indigo. The blade, a beautiful azure, showing clear signs of the Devil Sword and Wyrmslayer incorporated in its creation.

The giantess swordswoman swoons seeing it in its rightful owner's hands, being caught by the tiny enchanter. "L-Lara! You saw it literally minutes ago!"

"I'm fine, I'm fine, it's just... Beautiful." Her eyes take on a maternal gleam. "What will you call it?"

"I... If it's such an important decision... I can't decide on the- Wait, an idea's coming to me." You pause, inspiration striking you. First, the name "YAMCHA" flashes through your head, but having absolutely no idea what to make of that, you go for something based off of the actual characteristics of the weapon. "Azure Dragon Sword. It has a nice ring to it." You also briefly considered something along the lines of 'Dain's Bane,' but promptly deemed it tactless and corny.

Lara nods, off in her own world and mumbling the name to herself as Nadiel discusses the price of your sword with you.

Not counting what you paid up-front, the weapon turned out slightly more expensive than estimated, but members of Garrus' most elite protectors and enforcers get paid pretty well. It was a hefty bill anyway, but you knew that when you asked to have it made.

"You look so... Heroic..." Zoe looks at you holding the sword. Esmer nods in agreement, but excuses herself, saying simply that her vacation's gone on long enough. The sultry sorceress vanishes in a flash after that.

"Thanks for your business!" Nadiel stays, still holding his giant wife in his tiny arms as you two bid him farewell and you leave, putting the Azure Dragon Sword back in its sheath.

"Nadiel, darling, I feel fifteen years younger... We should have anoth-"

You don't hear the rest of whatever Lara was saying, since she didn't really say it to you anyway so much as "whisper" it mildly loudly to her husband as you two were leaving. It was out of your earshot before you even got out of the store.

"So, remember how they said it should have a ranged effect?" Zoe asks. "Wanna go try it out? There's a lot of empty valley space just around."

"Alright, sure." You don't hesitate to find some empty space of land to show off for your girlfriend.

Dismounting from her pegasus, you draw your Azure Dragon Sword (it should be noted that you feel absolutely none of the unease the Devil Sword granted you). It's... Pretty heavy for a sword of such average length, but you're more than strong enough to handle it with no sweat.

You take a swing, trying to figure out how the ranged thing works (you've never used a Wind Edge or Levin Sword or the like), and swear you hear the wind faintly howl in the direction your sword strikes, and definitely notice an intense blast of strength-magic emerge from the blade and extend several meters past the arc of your swing.

"Whoa..." Zoe says wondrously. "That's... Manifested out of your strength, right?"

"If it has the same properties as Canis' book."

As you put your new weapon away, Zoe wraps her arms around you from behind, before shifting gears and unapologetically caressing your arms and shoulders, a particular grin on her face. "I love being reminded about these things."

You turn around and lift her up, ending up making out for some time in the field, but ultimately decide you probably should get back to Rakche in case your respective royal charges need you for anything.

Sometime later, while wasting time alone in a courtyard, Byron approaches you, looking somewhat troubled.

"What's the matter, Byron?"

"You wouldn't happen to know anything about Lyra's whereabouts, would you?"

You shake your head. "Why, what happened?"

"That's... What I would like to know myself. She apparently left the city for 'a favor for a friend' sometime shortly after we all left, and that's all absolutely anybody who's talking has heard since."

"So she's just... Gone?"

Byron nods. "I'm afraid so. I... Figured you wouldn't know anything about it either, but thought I ought to ask anyway."

"I get you. I hope she's alright, though... Where could she have gone for a favor?"

"I don't know, she used to travel a great deal before getting her deal with the theater in this city. I just... hope her business isn't with somebody from Ulir. I know she was born there, and... Urgh, no one knows anything about what it's like there right now."

"I'm sure she's fine. She came across as clever enough to me."

"I... guess. Yes, you're right, worrying won't do any good. I mean, I probably won't be able to help it, but... As long as I can keep a calm mind about this, I can keep it from affecting my abilities."

"Er... If it helps you get your mind off of it, my sword was finished up. Call it the Azure Dragon Sword."

"Oh, good to hear. May I see it in action?"

You show it to your dear friend, of course, though in the process of going to find someplace safe to do so, you also attract a curious crowd of Laurina, Gorman, Biff, Stefyn, Vaga, and Dama (both on the heels of a visit with Ahua), alongside a few assorted guards and townsfolk you don't recognize or don't know by name.

Two of said guards brought along a very durable training dummy, which was promptly hacked to pieces by the distance of your strike. On a second dummy, you compare to containing the strength of the strike into the sword itself, the "wound" on the destroyed dummy much harsher with the closer shot, however that can be judged.

"Even channeling your full strength into the distant shot," Gorman notes, "spectacle that it is, does not have the same effect as a direct strike..."

"Even then," Dama notes, "this is the sort of raw power of the Beaststones. Never heard of a human being able to use one, though. This is actually really interesting!"

Showing off like this for various friends, acquaintances, and strangers (and the time leading up to Garrus' coronation in general) very well might be the high point of the rest of your adventure.

Jesus Christ. This sword is awesome!

While everyone's still somewhat worried for the Mage General and her party, during this lapse in action, a few more people end up officially hooking up, such as Laurina and Gorman, though the finer details of what many people are up to would be a colossal waste of time. Bolse meets, and briefly dates a deaf girl around his age, but his position as Mage General's son (and the very intimidating undead swordsman who constantly protects him) end up proving too intimidating a status difference for the girl to overcome. Katina continues to pine over many men who wouldn't dare consider her in such a way. Mitchell meets an ex-partner briefly, but he ends up needing to skip town, unable to go legit, while Mitchell continues the path of a gardener-decorator, retiring from all his actioney actions now that he's back home. Garrus' heart, he admits, belongs to a certain talkative Wyvern Lord (here's hoping their inevitable union goes better than Garrus' parents'). Reese and Misheil can call each other friends as Reese becomes a more respectful person. Arion is released as promised, while Ahua is finally taken into the custody of the Garou. Paula continues being very... Odd, only really spending her time interacting with Lars or Eva, and Lars is pretty much under house arrest in Rakche's castle, the soon-to-be-king not really having the heart to keep his own brother in a dungeon. Derrick winds up in a similar situation simply due to his fantastic behavior, but it's moreso that he's too broken in the moment to consider leaving.

Esmer visits the city once more on the day of King Garrus' coronation, ostensibly for that exact purpose. After the ceremony's end, she disappears.

Confident in his youngest sister's safety, so does Lars.

Thanks for playing. As always, you can follow on Twitter/ask.fm, both qmgrandflocto, and I'll be around to chat in-thread for awhile.

I might even consider doing vignettes about the various filler stuff if asked.

Thanks for running

Poor Katina, maybe she should try to get some advice from cheryl

Thanks for running Octo. Not sure if it'll come up in the future but does Loba's beaststone have significance to Vaga and Dama and do they mind us using it for our sword?

It really is a badass sword by the way. Love it.

Since it may not have been fully clear, Esmer Witch Pendant'd her and Lars a continent away.

I did reveal in an earlier thread that the Wulf Company was, in some capacity, waiting for orders from Dain, with Derrick questioning whether they were loyal to Elias or Lars during his playable segment.

>>42881792
The "issue" is that thankfully nobody she's interested in is interested in taking advantage of a teenage girl.

>>42881801
They don't mind, since they've both pretty much accepted what happened to their mother.

Thanks for playing, both of you. Any writeup requests?
>>
>>42881834
And by "a continent away," I mean to the opposite end of Teege. Not to some unseen land entirely. I mean, I'm going to need to introduce a lot of elements I haven't been able to squeeze into Ellen's knowledge but have planned from right when I first started to have a grip on the plot, but an entire new unforeshadowed continent coming into play in the last act is just silly.

I would like to read more about Bolse's failed attempts at dating or about what Paula thinks about her brother disappearing but anything else is cool by me too.

Oh right.
Fuck.

Alright, here's Bolse's romantic failures: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgSwD4j8v1c

Yeah, though, I'll try to get to work on the Paula writeup. It could actually help me figure out her personality more, which I'm still sorta cloudy on.
>>
>>42881930
Perfect.

And yeah I'm interested in Paula because she's one of the newer characters but it seems like she'll be scared or hate our guts for a while. So there's probably no chance to strike up a friendly conversation with her.

He's gone again.

Everyone's freaking out, but you're... Smiling. Your brother didn't like it here very much, and while you can't understand why, you know that he's done a lot of things to keep you safe.

Patrick, the fellow who used to give you rides around the continent, you recall, told you as much when you met. "Alright, princess, just behave and listen to me and you won't get hurt. Remember that stuff that weirdo taught ya? You're gonna use that wherever these notes I carry tell ya to, however much is necessary. Long as you and your brother listen up good, you'll see each other again."

"Paula," Lars said before he left, shortly before your other brother's coronation ended, clutching your shoulder tenderly. "I'm... Going to leave again, for awhile. I promise I'll see you again, though, please, please don't cry." He dried your eyes, which had begun to water without your notice.

"I... I thought you weren't allowed to leave..."

"I'm... Not, but there's too much resting upon my shoulders. Please, understand... I love you very much, and I want you to be good for Princess Salia and King Garrus. Treat them like you would me or Eva. Kia is staying in Elza Oasis if you ever wished to write to her there. Do that sometimes, would you? You're still very out of practice with proper education. And... Promise you won't let anyone make you use your necromancy again."

"Promise!"

You hugged for awhile after that, and that was the last time you saw him.

You would only trust Eva enough to tell about all this when asked, and even then only when she found you in the middle of stressing out over inability to finish a letter to Kia.

Sorry if that wasn't very good. I'm not all too used to writeups (hence why I gave this pool of fillery ideas), and I hadn't considered the premise of this one until anon suggested it.

Thank you Octo! I liked it a lot.

Glad to hear it. I really didn't have much to go on besides "Lars would definitely say goodbye to her before leaving," and am sort of bad at writing little kids in general, so I worried it was too bland.
>>
>>42882341
It's fine. I think that Paula isn't quite a normal little kid anymore with all the shit she's been through.
>>
>>42882453
Yeah, she is a bit fucked up.

Should next thread(s) be wrapping up the Great Miles' stuff? There's a certain point their plot needs to be at by the time the main plot gets there, and I would prefer it not just be shifted to offscreen out of time constraints.
