1-50 Thread Summary: http://pastebin.com/DYy8w24r
51-100 Thread Summary: http://pastebin.com/wx3HtRT5

You are Sierra Beckhoff, and you are the Imperiate – the one true tyrant of the thousand hells. Or something like that, anyway. You’re working on it.

After taking a sojourn abroad to claim landwells and garner more power unto yourself, things are not quite as you left them back home. Lucifer, the emissary of the Archduke of Mardusia, is trying to kill you for one. And if that wasn’t bad enough, Waldric has been helping him scheme for months now.

Time to get violent with people.

--

“I needed to be sure you were who you said you were,” says Lucifer, standing still in his shadowy coat. “And if you aren’t who you say you are, we, Waldric and I, must ensure your death.”

Waldric glances back at Monster, who’s come out of hidden form, and gives an almost imperceptible nod.

Maybe you don’t have to fight both of them tonight.

Despite the threat from Luce, you note your danger ring isn’t buzzing. Might be Verwelken magic hiding him from the enchantment. Or it might be that you brought more firepower to this meet and greet than the split-blooded emissary anticipated.

HP: 35/35
PP: 47/47
LW: 15/15
Stress: 40
Sanity: 97

Equipment: Hallowed Aegis, shield charm, Zelathis, MP4, Ruger, switchblade
Summons: Tiger, Crabby, Hellhounds x2, Ashwight, Zithether

“What, that’s the Imperiate litmus test?” you ask, stepping forward and turning slightly to keep your back arm out of sight. “If you can kill them, they’re not the Imperiate?”

“Certainly not if they’re dead,” Lucifer agrees.

This guy’s smugness is getting on your nerves. He came onto your territory, got your allies to work against you, and tried to kill you, and now he’s acting like you’re having a nice conversation. (+3 Stress: 43)

Lucky you have him right where you want him. You can crush this threat right now.
>>
>>42874041

But you have to be quick. You’re fast, but maybe so is Lucifer. “Maybe you’re the Imperiate,” you growl, reaching back with your shadows, winding the tips around the fore grip – you infuse the weapon with hissing hatred, causing it to tremble lightly against your back. “Only one way to find out.”

You whip up your SMG one-handed, bracing the barrel with a pair of your shadow-tendrils, and let loose a burst of fire screaming with unholy wrath.

Streaks of shadow streak out from the dark wall at Lucifer’s side with a flare of power, curling protectively around him instantly. Your shots tear through the shadow, though slow enough that instead of killing Lucifer, they knock him backward in a series of heavy blows. (Lucifer: 7/8 HP; 23/27 PP)

The demon growls as he regains his footing, arms up in an arcane fighting stance you don’t recognize. His darkened face snaps up, and his eyes glint in the dark. Time seems to slow. Actually, time is slowing. A bizarre, choking power grips in at your consciousness, making everything slow to a crawl.

Waldric is leaping out from behind Lucifer into the street, aiming to get out of the crossfire. His movement is impossibly slow, like he’s moving underwater. Monster darts after him, impish wings batting against the air gracefully, sluggishly.

“You’ve passed my tests. You have the potential.” The words emanate from the darkness itself all around you, sounding raspy, like Lucifer’s voice. The demon himself remains braced in his shadows before you on the sidewalk. “Sulkrasph can save you,” say the shadows, says Lucifer, “he can be your greatest teacher – or he can destroy you. Stop this nonsense and gain our trust.”

I wonder what Ulam's part in all this is. I mean he, did preety much vouch for Lucifer.
>>
You have a dozen spiteful comebacks ready for him, like that he failed your test, or that you don’t invest in stock that’s plummeting, but you find your mouth too slow to keep up. Stupid slow motion.

Fortunately, magic and shooting get a lot easier with slow motion, so you do that instead.

You open up your internal fire, and bathe your other claw in flames, and project a bolt of molten fire in Lucifer’s direction. (-5 PP: 40/47)

He shifts to the side, starting to dodge.

You follow up the in-flight hellbolt by shooting again at him. Your SMG rocking slowly backward in hand with every flash, the sound banging out an instant later.

It’s not so Matrix that you see the bullets – they streak out in a blur, shattering on Lucifer’s shadow shield. Except not when the hellbolt narrows in, the blazing light dispelling the solid shadow like candle smoke.

A couple shots hit Lucifer dead on, and time resumes regular speed. Your weapon barks in hand, almost getting away from you before you let up off the trigger.
>>
>>42874863

Lucifer loses his balance and falls backward, clutching at the chest of his sizzling coat, gasping weakly for air. He’s not as dead as you would like. (Lucifer: 5/8 HP; 20/27 PP)

“Sierra,” he wheezes, holding himself up on one arm, “for your sake, you cannot refuse the Archduke. It is not done.”

You approach cautiously, fire whip and SMG ready for more pain. You stay close to the glow of a streetlight, wary of the creeping darkness.

Lucifer perceives your intent, and struggles back to his feet. He speaks again, his voice raspy. “I bear you no ill. I’m only the messenger.”

Waldric moves in a low crouch off to the side, more predator than man. He keeps both eyes singled on Lucifer. “Sulkrasph won’t appreciate the news of his envoy’s death,” he says seriously. “We can’t risk antagonizing him further.”

>We’re fresh out of what Sulkrasph appreciates. He's a traitor and a backstabber.

Hey Lawnguid some quick ability questions.
Could we try to use Atramentous Dominion to control Lucifer or maybe the shadows he use?

Could we use Stain of Sin on Voice of One Thousand Teeth, or maybe corrupt Lucifer's shadows? It says objects on the corrupt description, but Sierra is part verwelken so treating shadows as objects could work?

“He’s a traitor and a backstabber,” you say, giving no room for Waldric to argue. “We’re fresh out of what Sulkrasph appreciates.”

Waldric’s posture remains tense – you’re not sure if it’s just because the threat of Lucifer or if he’s bristling at being so cleanly brushed off by you.

“You will regret this,” says Lucifer, great sadness in his voice. Sadness which does not extend any deeper than the sound itself. He might look weak, but he’s still swarming with power. It’s a ploy.

“Screw you,” you say, scrawling up your fire whip, pumping it full of hellfire. (-7 PP: 33/47)

The expression on Lucifer’s snake-face with its wooden-like skin goes neutral, and he nods. “I will communicate your refusal to the Archduke.”

You snap the whip at him.

There’s an explosion and a flare of light and shadow. There’s a smoking, charred crack on the sidewalk where Lucifer used to be. Wait.

A contortion of razor-sharp darkness bulges out from the blackness underneath the car at your side, and an overpressure of rushing shadow blasts you into the air. You lose your grip on the SMG in the rush, and then you’re slammed against the wall of the building. The shadows crush down on you with endless points. However, instead of getting shredded by the attack, the shadows seem to panic and forget their purpose as they scrape against your skin. Their edges blunt reflexively, and they flow around you – forcefully enough to hold you against the wall, though not so much so as to cause you undo discomfort.

Through the onslaught of darkness, you see Lucifer, half-shadow, half-flesh, one hand with its fingers extended toward you. (Lucifer: 5/8 HP; 17/27 PP) He scowls at your perfectly okay condition. “No,” he growls.

And then Waldric puts him in a headlock, knocking off Luce’s hat, and the shadow-stream ceases.

You fall to the ground.

You cushion the concrete with a flare of darkness, and quickly right yourself, grabbing up your SMG from where it fell.

You take aim.
>>
>>42876044

But Lucifer’s frail frame is no match for Waldric close up. The demon attempts to shift back a form of darkness, but a pulse of crackling energy shimmers off the Belphegoran’s form, shocking the magic still. And a second later, Lucifer has no power left at all. He’s a drained husk. (Lucifer: 5/8 HP; 0/27 PP)

Lucifer struggles fruitlessly against the Baron. His expression contorts into something ugly, and his voice is stained and uneven. “Mardusia will remember your disloyalty,” he spits, speaking in Heltic. “Your castle is built on sand.”

Waldric smiles evilly. “You weren’t using me, I was using you,” he hisses in his ear, tightening his stranglehold. “Unfortunately this is where our interests diverge.” And then he wrenches Lucifer’s head to the side. There’s an audible crack, and Lucifer’s body goes limp like a puppet with its strings cut.

He unceremoniously drops the body. It collapses to the pavement in a tangle of limbs.

Waldric stands with a disgusted sneer on his face. He kicks over the body so it splays out on its back. “We have a problem,” he tells you.

>Takes one to know one. (Aim gun at him.)

Okay so this >>42876339is me and this is what i think happened

So Wladric is stuck between a rock(Sierra) and a hard place(Mardusia). He gets confronted by Lucifer and Lucifer tells him what to do. He can't disobey him as Mardusia is super strong. He goes along and then gets confronted. Lucifer steps in, but is about to bail and leave Waldo to get rekt by Sierra. Wladimir sees his chance to survive and kills off Lucifer for brownie points with Sierra. His disloyalty is backed up by the fact that he kills him when lucifer is out of peepee instead of keeping him alive to be interrogated.

He is probably NOT very loyal and we need to get him under some kind of leash, i am thinking maybe a blood oath if that is possible? We do have our blood mage close at hand right?
>>
I'm wondering why the hell they picked Sattler of all people to be the thing to kill Sierra. Waldo knows that she's practically our nutbag aunt and we have near 0 chance of even fighting her so long as we can keep our glamours on. Was he trying to sabotage Lucifer's plan from the very beginning? Was he just retarded? Was he hoping that Sierra would end up killing Sattler and that that would sour the situation with the Hallows?
>>
>>42876600
Plot convenience.
>>
“Let’s take a pause here,” you say, timing out. “Now, you get positive points for snapping Luce’s neck, but I’m not sure if that equals out setting me up for death.”

Waldric sighs heavily. “I realize this looks bad, but I don’t think you understand the type of bad that it is.”

With a loud snap, Wolf appears beside you, feeling both relieved and impressed. “You wiped the floor with him,” he says, eyeing Lucifer’s corpse. “I thought he’d give you more trouble.”

You snort and punch him in the arm. “Don’t count me out,” you say.

He winces and rubs the spot you hit him in. “Ow. What was that for?”

“Uh. Kind of did it harder than I meant to. Adrenaline and stuff,” you explain, feeling wobbly. You try to shake it off. “Seriously though. Waldric, you’d better actually legitimately explain what’s going on.”

The Baron shakes his head. “We needed support to legitimize our rule,” he says. “No one in the fief carries political clout. I knew Sulkrasph would be sympathetic to our situation – without him Meckor would never have escaped Old Chthonia with his life. I approached him and guaranteed favorable trade and transit rights.”

Wolfgang scowls at his sister’s fiancé. “You’re not telling us everything. Why would Sulkrasph help you? For all he knew, you killed Meckor.”

“No, Isaac killed Meckor,” Waldric says.

But Wolf already made a connection. “You told him about Sierra.”
>>
>>42877120

“He would have found out anyway as soon as he stepped into the city, what with Sierra being with the Hallows. He would physically have recognized her,” says Waldric. “I thought I could use him. He was on Corthisis’s Conclave, for Styx sake. It’s all that made him agree to hem the tide of immigrants and vagabond throne-seekers.”

He seriously... what?! (+5 Stress: 48)

>>42878305
I've got it I've got it. I've seen this in the bible.

We get a sword and cut him in half. That way Maviel still gets his fun bits and Sierra can eat the rest of him... or whatever it is she'd like to do.

No we tell his daddy in law and leave it to him.

We ask ranthix, in wally's presence, if theres some way to have a magic monitoring device, or geas, or some other such method of ensuring he doesnt fuck us over. If one exists, we offer him to either take it and stay with us, or resign and live a quiet life. If one does not exist, we tell him to resign and tell him to enjoy his happily married life.

How does that sound?

“Lucifer had other, worse plans,” says Waldric. “I managed to talk him into using Sattler instead.”

Wolfgang’s hands ball into fists. “You son of a bitch, Sattler could have killed her.”

Heh. Wolf. (-2 Stress: 41)

“I highly doubt that,” Waldric replies, straightening his jacket.

“You’re underestimating Sattler,” you say.

“Sattler is a battering ram. No subtlety. I oversold her bloodthirst as cunning to Lucifer. He licked it up. But you can be subtle when it suits you,” he says, giving you an appraising look. “You were gone before you even saw her the first time, and the second time, you accomplished everything right under her nose. She never realized a thing.” He smiles dryly. “I don’t want you dead. You’re the lynchpin of everything I’m trying to accomplish here.”

“Really,” you say skeptically. “Then when the hell did favorable trade rights turn into plotting my demise?”

“I’ve started hearing rumors Sulkrasph is looking to advance his own claim on the Imperiacy,” says Waldric, “and there is no small amount of fear that he will attain it. His skill in political matters is expert. Mardusia in its current form is a testament to his ability to manipulate or destroy his opponents. That’s why I went along with Lucifer’s schemes as long as I did. I couldn’t have his master seeing us as a rival.” He looks sourly at Lucifer’s corpse. “The arrangement bought us a few months, I suppose.”

You give the body a thoughtful look. He looks dead. “You think Sulkrasph really wants me on his side?”

“He might just want to lure you somewhere he can kill you,” says Waldric, “but that seems short sighted. I think he wants to use you. You’re young and powerful, and you have royal blood. Subduing Old Chthonia would be much less of a task with the heiress under his control.”

“HE WOULD ATTEMPT TO REFORGE YOU IN HIS IMAGE, THE IMAGE OF WEAKNESS,” says Ranthix, busting out of the building beside you.
>>
>>42878417
If I recall correctly, the demonym swearing deal is purely a matter of honor. No magical bind or anything. Kind of like swearing on a bible.
>>
>>42878491

He projects raw fury onto Waldric through his eyes. “I CAN SEE YOU HAVE NOT YET KILLED THE RAT. YOU KNOW HE CANNOT BE TRUSTED.”

“Ranthix makes a good point,” you comment. “I mean. You seriously tried to make it look like Ranthix was the one trying to out me to people, when you were the one who actually did it.”

Waldric gives both you and Ranthix a grim, determined glare. “I had no guarantee you wouldn’t kill me the second I admitted it,” he says. “And if I did manage to convince you, then Lucifer would be none the wiser, Sulkrasph would still be our ally, and I’d still have time to find a way out of this mess.”

You slap a hand to your forehead. “You idiot! We weren’t – I don’t just kill everybody who says stuff I don’t like.”

Waldric makes a point of peering down at Lucifer. “Whatever you say.”

“That’s different,” you say. “He actually legit tried to kill me. And I didn’t kill him, you did.”

“You shot at him,” says Waldric. “That’s the purest expression of desiring the death of another. I doubt you’d complain if he dropped after the first five round burst.”

“Sure, but I don’t know him,” you say. “It’s just... I can’t believe we’re still at this stage. I mean. Does Maviel know you have serious trust issues? Cause this seems like something she should know about.”

“Maviel didn’t tear Nabuth, Cordeliate, Khel, and Philostrathus apart with her bare claws,” Waldric counters, a severe kind of edge to him. “You realize that once upon a time, they used to be the only people who cared if I lived or died.”

Oh yeah. That happened. But you can’t be dissuaded. “Yeah, and you betrayed them too.” You do a kind of back and forth with your claws. “Interesting pattern we see here.”

“They would have done the same if they hadn’t let Meckor blind them with his insane visions,” he says spitefully. “I’m not some monster. I did what I had to survive. Hate me as much as you want, it’s entertaining. But don’t presume to judge me.”

Ranthix rests his M60 up on his shoulder and gives an acid scowl to Waldric. “PURE JUDGEMENT BELONGS TO THE IMPERIATE,” he states.

You’re not so sure he does. You don’t know if he’s capable of it. Something about growing up in a conniving royal family where they banish you or try to have you killed for screwing up.

And you thought you had a messed up childhood.

You scratch at your ear, wincing as you try to figure out a way to explain this to him. “Look. Just. If you don’t want to trust me, whatever. But I like Maviel. And I’m not going to kill her fiancé. So trust that you ass.”

“Think about it Waldric,” says Wolfgang, stepping in for you, “you can’t do everything by yourself. You need people. You have to work with us. We’re more powerful together.”

You can feel Waldric’s fatigue. He feels overburdened. “Spare me the speeches,” he says. “Nothing about the situation was ideal. Few things in this world are. Perhaps I made mistakes, but I won’t make those mistakes again. What’s done is done. We need to focus on the Sulkrasph issue in the here and now, or it doesn’t matter who trusts who.”

“Speaking of,” you say, both curious and vaguely worried, “on a scale of one to 1939 Poland, how much trouble exactly are we in?”

“Poland,” he answers. “We have too many enemies.”

“THEY WILL WITHER. THE IMPERIATE STANDS WITH US,” Ranthix points out.

“What about Isaac?” you ask. “He’s dealt with worse.”

Wolf shakes his head, his face drawn and slightly pale. “He can’t be everywhere at once.”

“I suppose we could leave the city,” says Waldric, thoughtfully. “Let Ushologuissa and Sulkrasph tear it apart for us.”

Well. Actually the Yellow King wants in on it too. But you don’t feel like subtracting even more from the conversation.

“Hi everyone,” comes Axos’s voice.

Xanissil and Xathix walk him over, both looking unhappy with the situation.

The demon prince looks around to everybody assembled, an eager light in his eye. “It sounds like we’re in real trouble.”

>Yeah, no. We can deal with this without this chump.

“You can let me go,” Axos reasons.

But Xan and Xath force Axos to his knees and hold him in place while Ranthix draws a revolver from his vest, places it against the prince’s forehead.

Wolfgang throws out his hands. “Wait!”

Too late.

The gunshot echoes down the street.

Ranthix crouches and wipes the weapon off on Axos’s jeans. “LET US DEPART,” he declares.

>Nevada battles Sierra for the title of Imperiate.
>Ranthix Betrays Sierra because Nevada was raised properly.

>The Hallows stand back and watch it happen. It's better for everyone is the transition goes smoothly.

Goddammit Carlos.
>>
>>42880946
it's a nice dream Anon, but I don't think it's going to happen
>>
>>42881073
Hope doesn't float?

Feels like Sierra is just treading water?
>>
>>42881178
Heh. That reminded me that at the lake my family always goes to there was a houseboat named Hope Floats. It sank.

The slightly traumatized feelings in Wolfgang kind of make you feel uncomfortable. “Uh. Did you really have to do that here?” you ask Ranthix. “I mean. Kind of conspicuous.”

“I WOULD RATHER BE CONSPICIOUS THAN CARELESS,” Ranthix informs you. “EVERY INSTANT THAT WORM LIVED WAS ANOTHER INSTANT FRAUGHT WITH TREACEHRY.”

“Kind of careless to just shoot people in the street,” you note.

He becomes thoughtful. “IF SATTLER IS ALLOWED VIOLENT PUBLIC RETRIBUTION, SURELY THE BUTCHER WILL SANCTION THIS MINOR JUDGMENT.”

True enough, you guess. Although now that you’re looking at Lucifer, can you really be sure he’s dead? Waldric broke his neck, but you’re not so sure how it works for Verwelken-Tataran split-blood demons. Can’t hurt to check. “Well. While we’re on the subject,” you say. You leave Wolfgang and stand above Lucifer. You whip out Zelathis and put it through his skull.

Definitely dead.

Wolfgang is horrified.

You resist the urge to lick your sword clean. You’ll have to get your Verwelken-coffee blood on some other time, maybe when your boyfriend’s not looking.

“The police will be here soon,” says Waldric, glancing down the street. “Sierra, Wolfgang. Go home. I’ll do what I can to convince Sulkrasph that his emissary ran afoul of our demonbane, and buy us what time I can.”

“COME!” Ranthix shouts, ushering you and Waldric back to the truck.

In the back, Ranthix takes over the wheel, leaving you with Xan and Xath.

Wolfgang sits with his head in his hands, brow furrowed, mouth pulled into a frown.

You’re distracted by Xan’s voice. “I did not interfere with your fight with Lucifer,” says Xanissil, glancing up at you from her rifle. “Ranthix said you did not need us to interfere. But perhaps next time... would you rather we lend aid, regardless of that which you need?”

Xath pretends like he’s fiddling around with his vest, but he’s listening too.

>Rule of thumb. If I’m trying to kill something, help me kill it.
>I think it’d be cool, but if Ranthix thinks it’s not cool, I don’t know. He knows a lot.
>Depends. Sometimes I need to get all Imperiatey and fire whip stuff on my own.
>Other (?)

Sattler also got banished, you big red nerd

“Depends,” you say. “Sometimes I need to get all Imperiatey and fire whip stuff on my own.”

“Yes. You would, wouldn’t you,” Xan says, conspiratorially.

“You know. Except if it’s starting to look like you need to find a new imperiate. In that case, definitely step in.”

“I would rather keep you as the Imperiate,” she agrees.

“Thanks,” you joke.

“You are most welcome,” she jokes back.

You snort at her, and the truck’s interior goes quiet. You look over at Wolf. He’s probably still thinking about what happened, seeing the kind of bitter revulsion and shock going through him. Guess some people can’t handle people shooting other people in the head. (-2 Sanity: 95)

You lean over and drape an arm over his back.

He glances back at you and smiles slightly, his cloudy aura clearing up for a second.

It gets cloudy again after that, but you think maybe it’s not quite as dark.

--End Part 131--

Well, things are looking dicey. Good thing you have a cool hat.

Awesome, boyfriend is cool with murder.
Thanks for running, Languid!
>>
>>42881665
TFW you're hot enough that murder isn't enough to turn your boyfriend off

It's not murder, it's capital punishment.
>>
>>42881665
We better start wearing that hat in public soon.

>>42881751
>Do as the Imperiate wills shall be the whole of the law

You should cut his head off if you want to do that. Satt really has a decapitation fetish.

Stuff that needs doing:

-Fulfill our promises to Roger and Ossifera by getting them their promised wells. Also get more landwells.
-Learn to use dad weapons. Enchanted guns, whoa!
-Research Pukaskawa Landwell spirit for mad Landmaster gains.
-Figure out more about Hassatur, yellow king. Isaac might know more details, like how to fight the Puppet. Also how to breath underwater to avoid drowning.
-Decipher Dads journals with Mori for mad Verwelken gains.
-Kill Hassatur, Sulkrasph and Ushologuissa.
>>
>>42883310
Also:
>Pick up all of dad's old wells.
>>
>>42883310
We also need to have Waldric cuffed to a radiator in a basement or something at minimum.

I fucking told you people about traitors man.
>>
>>42882208
General rule of thumb, betrayal and trying to kill you is generally a bad thing and those people are not to be trusted.
>>
>>42883436
All 500+ of them
>>
>>42883587
Quit being paranoid. He was acting in our best interest.
>>
>>42883695
>Not trusting a serial traitor who set you up to be killed but this was somehow all for our benefit, especially the part were he had to get caught in the act and didn't chose to inform us he had set us up to be hit.
>Paranoid.

Not what that word means.
>>
>>42883695
You think someone would set us up to be killed and then lie about it. Come on anon, you know you can always trust traitors. A man's word is his bond after all.
>>
>>42883695
>He was acting in our best interest.
If that was true maybe just maybe he could have given us a heads up.
>>
So are we officially going to take our place as baron of this fief now?
>>
>>42883862
If we keep Waldo at the top I will quit.
>>
>>42883862
No
>>
>>42883862
Back when we voted on whether to be baron ourself or just let Waldo do it, we let him be the baron because we didn't want to deal with all the retards who would try to start shit when they find out we're not dead. That and we really didn't have any idea what to do as baron so the actual job would have ended up more or less the same as what we're doing now with the conclave more or less on autopilot half the time.

Waldo just went and fucked that plan sideways. No reason to have him be baron on paper anymore.
>>
>>42883871
Good, we dont like shadowrunners here.

Especially ones who take the paranoia seriously.
>>
>>42883871
We have his fiancée is a partial hostage situation as in were the only ally that will take never action against her.
>>
>>42883921
I do agree. There is no gain for not taking our rightful place as the head of our Barony. Wally can run the day-to-day operations. We should consult with Demetrius about the situation.
