You are Fujimoto Chiyoko, scion of the Fujimoto family. You have recently become a magical girl, your alternate state a hundred times more athletic and armed with a truly massive battle-axe. Even more recently, you made up with fellow magical girl Ayame, who you have been feuding with in large part due to her brattiness.

After making up with her, you invited her to come with you in your limousine on your way to school. Unfortunately, on the way, you felt something in your chest - which Ayame tells you is the presence of something Evil and Wrong, the sort of thing you surmise that you're supposed to fight against as a magical girl.

"Come on," Ayame says, jerking her head. You glance towards the driver's seat, and she seems to read your expression quite well. "Don't worry, the magic will cover it up. Let's go."

"Exactly how does this work?" You ask Ayame, trying to figure out how to reach within yourself to summon forth your earlier magical prowess. After some fumbling, you seem to find the right cord, and with a ginger, internal tug, you're promptly decked out in the full regalia, your massive battle axe in hand.

Ayame eyes it for a brief moment, then your chest, then smirks. "Compensating for something?"

You do not smile back. "I did not choose this weapon; it merely came to me originally."

"Right, right," she says, still smirking. "It's pretty simple. That feeling in your gut's like a radar that'll find the monster, then we smack the monster until it's dead. Got it, or should I dumb it down a little for you?"

You give her a long look, hefting the axe over your shoulder. "I believe I understand the general principles," you say, your voice an absolute deadpan.

"Great," she says, opening the door to the limousine, which is still moving. "Let's go." She leaps out, and you rush to the open door to watch. She rolls for a moment on the street, before recovering and standing tall, brushing herself off, looking around. There's a bit of dust on her clothes, but no scrapes on them or her. "Come on!" She yells at you.

She is the expert. You leap out, unpracticed, but some deeper instinct helps you hit the ground well, and your body rolls into the fifty or sixty miles per hour you're moving at. You get to your feet after just a second or two, and see Ayame, who starts to rush in one direction. You follow her lead, running behind her for a minute or so, wind rushing past your ears.

Then you spot it. A mass of gelatinous tissue, colored like thickly congealed blood, a few random objects poking out through its surface, a half-dozen pseudopods stretching out along the ground in every direction. Ayame readies herself to strike.

As Ayame is the more battle-hardened veteran, and the more hard-headed of your pair, you stay back, keeping a keen eye on the surrounding area. It's residential, the monster half within someone's front lawn, and you strongly suspect one of the objects poking through its surface to be the front gate.

Ayame reaches it, and slashes at it with her sword, causing a splatter of red juice that coats the street, but seems to do little damage. She dances back when it tries to lash out at her, its closest pseudopod seeming to bubble as it grows. You spot that damned cat on the corner of the hedges surrounding the house, seeming to watch the entire affair with curiosity before leaping into the family yard, out of your line of sight.

She snaps out at the bloated pseudopod, and it positively explodes, a splatter of red goop coating her face and forcing her to stagger back, half-blinded by the creature's viscera. It can't seem to decide between advancing towards the house or towards her, and begins to stretch its main bulge either way, two increasingly large portions at either end. As Ayame wipes her face clean of the creature, she finally realizes your utter absence of assistance, and the creature splits into two separate versions, each half the size of the original.

"Feel free to step in at any time!" She yells at you, before dashing towards the nearer one and engaging.

At Ayame's urging you move, rushing not to her aid but to prevent the other from entering the house. Who knows what it might do to the house's occupants? You leap over the fence in an easy, single bound, and bring down the long blade of your axe on one of the creature's pseudopods, severing it entirely. It twitches and writhes briefly, but then ceases to move, apparently dead.

The monster, on the other hand, is irate and very much alive. The pseudopod nearest to you stretches and bulges, distended just like the one that came after Ayame mere moments before. You heft your battle axe in your hands, considering the situation carefully. There's a flicker of black-and-white motion out of the corner of your eye, and while you don't risk turning away to look more closely, you're quite sure the cat has just gone around to the backyard.

>Try to get around the bulge and cut off this pseudopod.
>Pop the bulge with the spike end of your axe and move back as quickly as possible to avoid the spray.

You twist the axe around, so that the spike faces the ground, and move towards the pseudopod in question, which similarly approaches you. Ready for the bulge to pop, you swing down the axe - the moment you feel resistance, you urge your body to spring back, turning the puncture into a tear as a spray of red coats the entire area, including you.

The material is sticky, disgusting, and there's quite a bit on your face, blurring your vision in one eye. With depth perception at a premium and the gunk seeming to stick to your joints in unpleasant ways, you back up still further, and move to clean yourself off. The monster - which you keep your good eye on - seems content to let it be, even as the pseudopod recovers to its earlier form, apparently unharmed by the event in question.

It reaches the door, and you see its tendrils stretch within. You've managed to clear your vision, as well as get rid of much of it from your right arm, giving you proper joint control, but there's still sticky gunk clinging to your right kneecap. Your earlier flight backwards informs you that said material has reduced your ability to run and leap. You hear a scream from within the house as you start to dig at the goop on your right knee.

>Rush back into the battle, in spite of your reduced mobility.

Clean off knee of gunk.
>>42912290
>>
You rush back into the battle, not so much as sparing a glance. The gunk on your right knee makes your running a bit haphazard, and you're forced to work to keep your balance, but soon enough you're back in melee. The creature's pseudopod begins to distend once more, and this time, you manage to slam down your axe close to the base, cutting it off the body at an oblique angle. It twitches; it deflates; it sprays some small amount of goop back towards the center; it goes limp.

As it does all those things, you move on to the next limb, but the creature begins to expel more and more pseudopods from its central body, each creeping along the ground, many bulging, hideous masses of bloody red goo, unpleasantly close to your body. It becomes hard to evade them, much less lash out without getting sprayed by the goop within. You're forced on the back foot, and have to retreat to avoid being enclosed entirely by the broiling, distended limbs of the creature.

It's then that you feel something powerful and majestic ringing through your gut. It reminds you of nothing so much as the moment when you were empowered, that sharp sense of Good and Right, of a deep power that goes back to the beginning, and possibly before time itself. Just as soon as it comes, it's gone, and you feel suddenly refreshed, both in terms of morale and in simple endurance. You weren't exactly running on fumes, but you now feel as though you've been topped off, and are nearly overflowing.

>Back to the fighting. Keep it distracted, but clean up that gunk before inflicting more damage; you don't have the necessary speed right now otherwise.
>Back to the fighting. Go all in, smash through it as much as you can, deal as much damage as possible and ignore your reducing mobility.

You move back towards the creature, keeping just far enough out of its reach to not be at immediate risk, but not so far that it can afford to ignore you and attempt to advance further. With one hand, you wield your battle axe like a polearm, held at great length to keep the creature at bay, while the other reaches down to scrape off the gunk from your kneecap. It's a difficult bit of coordination to do, especially as the monster makes its probing moves on both flanks, but you manage it with some quick jabs that push the creature back, and finally yank off the gunk on your leg.

That's the moment when a figure appears on the top of the building. After a moment, you recognize it as a fellow magical girl, but the building faces the west, so the sun's behind her and makes her more a silhouette than anything else. You can't afford the time it would take to study her more closely, but you do take note of her weapon: a long, thin whip - or something similar - that trails down to the rooftop, where it ends after an indeterminate length.

With the gunk on your leg cleared, you move forward, directly between the two flanking pseudopods. Before they can crush you, you bring your axe down on one pseudopod's base, then the other, each in quick succession, and leap back out of melee to consider your options.

Just as you do, a sickle comes soaring through the air, slamming directly into the creature's main body and burying itself there. A long chain emerges from the hole, and it leads to the body of a new magical girl, one you recognize as Yukiko. Her expression is blank, and her costume is a mellow brown with a vivid, deep purple fringe. Her eyes are on the creature, not you.

"Severing parts works better than cutting or piercing them," you say, and Yukiko just nods, her expression unshifting. She leaps up onto the awning above the front door, then around to the opposite side of the creature. You approach it again, but none of the tentacles face you, instead preferring to head towards Yukiko. Another jump puts her on your right, the chain tracing a line along the creature's surface. You angle your axe and cut off a chunk of the creature, but without its pseudopods lying so close to you, and Yukiko's chain in the way, it's hard to get anything good.

A fourth jump gets Yukiko behind you, her chain mere inches from your face, her body a foot behind you. "Get down," she says, in serene calm. You do so, ducking, and she pulls, hard, leaping to one side. The chain tightens around the creature, and it struggles limply against it. She leaps again, this time up onto the roof, and it rips into the creature's surface. The chain bisects the creature, an irregular cut but a very effective one nonetheless. The top half seems dead, flopping to one side, the bottom half mortally wounded, its movement limper, weaker now.

Yukiko pulls up the remainder of her chain and surveys the battlefield. You follow her gaze, and see Ayame still fighting her monster, with a dogged insistence in spite of her apparent incompetence. There's a splatter of red stretching down the street, though none of it seems to have coated Ayame since that first burst.

"I'll finish off this one, while you can handle the one that Ayame's fighting?"

"Ayame?" Yukiko glances at your fellow magical girl more closely. "Ah. Very well. I defer to your expertise," she says, leaping cleanly over the creature and heading over to help Ayame with hers.

You, on the other hand, begin to slam down your axe into the creature's main body, cutting it into pieces bit by bit. Leaping around its pseudopods isn't too tough - when they start to gather on one side, you simply leap to the opposite, a process made easy by the fact that its top half has long since slid off. Soon enough, the creature beneath you lies in tatters, and stops moving altogether. At that point, you catch your breath, watching it for a long few seconds to ensure it's quite dead, before turning towards Yukiko and Ayame's fight.

Yukiko's effectively wrapped her chains around the creature by this point, and Ayame seems to have the self-discipline to follow her lead in this matter, backing off and letting her work rather than, say, cutting at the creature's core and risking striking the chains. She performs the same bisecting rip and tear process as she did on the first, and then pulls her chain back towards her, offering a glance your way.

The remainder of the fight is nothing more than a mop-up; the dead parts seem to slowly evaporate in the morning light.

You turn to Yukiko, who is currently trying to worm what remains of the creature's viscera out of her chain, working at it with a businesslike patience and a placid, empty expression. "Thank you for your help, Yukiko," you say, politely as possible.

"It was nothing; the creature was attacking my house, after all," is Yukiko's reply, made without glancing up or shifting her tone at all.

"You too, Ayame. Thanks. You helped quite a bit." It's not sarcastic; her aid was important to your final victory.

"Uh, you're welcome?" Ayame tries, squinting a bit.

"Perhaps the three of us should head to school, before we're made too late?"

"Get the gunk off your stuff first," Ayame warns Yukiko. "It smells a lot worse without the magic."

"Duly noted," Yukiko says, with a nod. You take Ayame's advice, as you are more than aware of the foul smell from experience, and work to get each and every bit of the creature off you, scraping yourself clean. After several minutes, all of you are done cleaning yourselves off, the creatures have half-evaporated, and you're ready to transform back to normal. The stench in repugnant - it reminds you of feces - but not overpowering.

The three of you head to school together; you're forced to call your driver on your cell phone, and he seems quite confused as to how you got out of the car in the first place.

"Get us to school as quickly as possible, driver," you order, as Yukiko and Ayame pile into the limousine. The car begins to move at a substantially accelerated pace, and your group moves forward.

You stare out the window opposite you, considering where things might go from here. Yukiko seems to simply quietly consider her fingernails, digging out some flecks of red, while Ayame kicks her legs in boredom. More fights with more and worse monsters? More arguments and struggles with Ayame regarding Kenta? More magical girls enlisting on your side? Novel information about what exactly Evil and Wrong things are?

You'll just have to wait and find out, you suppose, idly adjusting in your seat. The school comes into view, and the three of you get out, just barely on time.

I hope you guys enjoyed, in spite of the way it ended so soon. I did enjoy running it, but I just can't see myself doing so for a month. See you next time (or not).

Dunno, and dunno.

I think I want to try for sharp MC voices in the future, it's funner to write and funner to read when the MC is clearly putting their own, particular, spin on things. (Compare/contrast Sick With Love, and Disquiet, with Princess In Love, and Former Operator.) Other than that, though, no real idea.

I still have her followed (both on twitter and anonkun) but I haven't played somebody else's quest in quite some time. Or read one, really.
