"The fact that she was as dumb as a bag of bricks did not detract from the fact that on the battlefield, she was beautiful. And terrifyingly deadly."

This is a thread about Lady Alexandria Gwendolyn Solaria, a paladin who's been boosting her stats with harlot sweets, to be much more effective in battle and in casting, which came from a different thread on body alteration in pathfinder.

Currently, not much has been decided apart from the name, and the basic character concept!

alright, hair color.

archetypal blonde bombshell or are we going for less conventional things?

how about style when she's not wearing her helmet?
>>
>>42926199
So far we have a few details on what she was like beforehand. Sort of your average smite&cleave paladin. Very tough and strong, though not very charming.

She went after the Harlot Sweets with the outward reasoning that it would aid her spellcasting, and the secret reasoning that she wished to be more attractive.

I'll also note we aren't using the strict rules for Harlot Sweets, just as a guideline. So far, our version's effects are longer lasting, both the charisma boost and the in drop.

We've also overlooked Restoration and how the Paladin's immunity to disease works on drug addictions. They kill the concept, so we have so far ignores them.
>>
>>42926236
Hair should start as a different color, though she might dye it blond later.

>>42926299
Should start of short or tied back into a ponytail.
>>
>>42926300
>They kill the concept, so we have so far ignores them.
They don't though, they just mean she's not addicted and won't go into withdrawal if she stops taking them.
>>
>>42926285
But anon, drugs are bad!
>>
>>42926335
Not if they make you better at smiting!
>>
>>42926263
Harlot Sweets
These amber-colored lozenges instill within the user a slightly increased agility and enhance both physical beauty and speech. So named for the fact that prostitutes often abuse the drug, harlot sweets are gaining popularity among certain circles in the aristocracy as well.

>>42926236
>>42926300
More importantly; dex and charisma are going to help spellcasting but not cleaving and smiting. If our lady's going to be near overdosing on the damn things, she should really pick up archery feats and spellcasting stuff rather than being a cleave and smite one.

Lesser Restoration only restores 1d4 of damage back. Paladins get few spell slots, even though the bonus spell slots will help.

-Back to the story, though! Do we want our fair lady to be wildly oscillating between dumb and reasonably smart, or slowly descending into permanent stupidity? I'm leaning towards the former and got a basic thought of how to write this but want opinions first.
>>
>>42926390
I'm saying former, since you can vary it as you like and always write a conclusion when the thread has gotten tired. Say, start with a bit of casual use, then bounce back, then have her figure (middling Wis) that "it worked well with two, let's see how it works if I just take this sachet into town and eat one when I feel like it".
>>
>>42926299
Helmet hair. Sack of bricks don't take care of themselves.
>>
>>42926390
>Do we want our fair lady to be wildly oscillating between dumb and reasonably smart, or slowly descending into permanent stupidity?
The former. I like the idea of it being variable, since it neatly sidesteps and justifies intellectual variance that always seem to come out of writing stories with dumb people in them.
>>
>>42926333
Fair enough, though that does mean it will always be a very conscious decision to keep taking them
>>
>>42926466
>>42926390

Well if we do the osillation then we can play a little Jeckle and Hyde with it. Not that dramatic, mind you, but those will she or won't she moments would be fun.

And since we've decided not to make physical transformations part of the sweets, that means that whatever she does do to herself with other means stays when she's not dosed. That could provide some fun fodder, the party teases her about her new assets and she just states that they're like better armor and weapons.

Also the back and forth between levels of intelligence will make for interesting internal monologue fodder.
>>
>>42926333
>>42926541
I don't see it as out and out withdrawl and addiction, rather according to canon she does have a desire to look and act more feminine and this lets her do that while at the same time providing a boost to her abilities. So she's got a legit reason for doing it that she can defend in public, and a personal reason that she'll never admit to. Whether she admits to herself what the more important reason is will be part of the storytelling.
>>
>>42926546
True. Having the transformations unconnected to the Harlot Sweets means that she might take a few and decide blowing a bunch of gold on bigger tits is totally a good idea, only to have the drugs wear off later and be stuck with the changes.
>>
>>42926390
>>42926285
>>42926199
Literal turbococaine.
>>
This is all well and good, just keep your hands above the table where I can see them.
>>
>>42926390
>Back to the story, though! Do we want our fair lady to be wildly oscillating between dumb and reasonably smart, or slowly descending into permanent stupidity? I'm leaning towards the former and got a basic thought of how to write this but want opinions first.
Personally I prefer the latter, with her permanently becoming bubbly, cheerful, but more than a bit dim

>>42926546
I can see her excusing going to a "beauty shop" to buy a bust or hips/ass enhancing potion or six by arguing that being more "presentable" would make people more receptive to her teachings and/or her requests they surrender
>>
>>42926618
This is also good, her in full airhead mode wants to treat herself and feel pretty, she sobers up later and realizes she's a LOT curvier now than she was
Though if she was a high STR sword and board paladin beforehand, I'd personally prefer if she kept dem muscles during her transformation
>>
>>42926546
>the party
This reminds me - we need to figure out who her party is.

Being a paladin, we can easily designate her as the "divine" influence in the group and leave out a cleric, leaving us with a "Skilled" character, a "Bruiser" character, and a "Mage" character.

As far as the Mage goes, I see two obvious options - a nerdy wizard guy who isn't quite sure how to handle all this, or a sorceress who Alexandria feels inadequate next to, which is what originally inspired her to go after Harlot Sweets.

>>42926618
I'm definitely in favor of this. Harlot Sweets only adjust charisma after all, and we've gone over the fact that Charisma isn't a physical stat a good number of times on this board.
>>
>>42926618
>>42926718
I'm going to be away from the computer for a while, but I dearly, dearly hope you hang on to this idea.
>>42926659
Our hands are firmly above the table now, yes.
We will remember for later, though.
>>
>>42926751
We have it here - >>42920112
Probably a TN wizard who's fine with supplying whatever she needs, a CG rogue (female) who's a bit freaked and a bit intrigued, and a LN druid who's the one voice of sanity and the only person who'll intervene if she goes too far, but who's too neutral to really be comfortable judging other people when they're not hurting society or nature.
>>
>>42926718
It was decided that she'd keep her atheltic/muscular form even if she did do some curve-enhancement later. This isn't straight up bimbofication, and we need to remind ourselves of that and guard against that.
>>
Just writing up a quick scene to get some characterisation done while 4chan was down.

---

A slash of red the floor as she pulled the sword from the orc’s back, shaking the blood from it in an elegant movement. It fell before her, and it’s only then that Lady Alexandria Gwendolyn Solaria saw the wizard behind him stager back, bleeding from a stab wound. And her eyes widened, nearly dropping the two handed blade.

“Revadin! Are you- are you ok?” Bounding over the fallen foes to the elf, she knelt before him, looking at the wound closely. “I didn’t realise you were so close! I thought- I thought he would have – have done something real bad to you if I didn’t kill him first!”

He almost slapped her hand away, glancing about the battlefield. “Never mind about me, what about- oh.” Beyond the paladin, the rest of the orcs lay dead or dying. Grevel scratched his beard idly as his oversized tiger sniffed at one of the smaller orcs, while Lise had taken the practical approach to putting the mortally wounded to rest with her knife.

Alexandria had torn through the crowd of twelve in barely a minute.

“I’m sorry I hurt you,” she said. Repeating it as she leaned in close. Touching the gauntleted hand to his sternum, reaching around him in a hug, Revadin felt the wound heal, a tingling sensation - as if the warmth was knitting the flesh back together. The warmth of her face close to his chest, the embrace of the armoured form round her a comfort – an overly familiar touch –

And then she let go, panting slightly. The pain gone, the wound healed. Others, too – even the little aches and weariness the elf had felt since the start of the trek.
>>
>>42927222
“Did I do bad?” The girl looked up at him with mournful eyes, and try as he might, the harsh retort died on his lips. It was difficult to resist the urge to pat her on the head, and at last with a sigh Revadin brought up a rag, wiping a blood spatter off her cheek.
“Nah. That fucker was about to take my head off at the shoulders. You did great.” And it was heartwarming to see the relief and innocent smile on Alex’s face until she bounced one gauntlet off his head.

“Naughty! Don’t swear, it’s no good!”

“-Damn it, I’ll swear if I wa-ow! Don’t forget to restore yourself for later-“

The little tussle was interrupted by the call of the other human – “Oi! Cut it out, you two lovebirds, and see if you can’t help dispel this magical trap on the chest over here!” Lise sounded more amused than angry, watching them both from the other side of the room.

Turning back, Revadin saw the glow of restoration around the paladin, gave her another grin. He watched her blush and turn away, and groaned to himself quietly. It seems that he was going to be stuck with this troublesome feeling a while longer yet.
>>
>>42927222
>>42927236
I like it so far. I think you may have wanted to establish the characters first, but at the moment they're good.
>>
>>42926824

It's totally possible she's got muscles and some cushion, all it takes is a reasonable diet and consistent exercise, rather than straight up bodybuilding training.

She's also hardly a true bimbo in the fetish sense of the word; bimbos have low INT *and* WIS, this girl's just got low INT, which means she doesn't know the difference between a demon or devil but she does know the difference between honesty and a lie (Sense Motive is Wisdom, after all.)
>>
>>42927236
It was a simple enough discovery. With the rumour that the new alchemical drug was able to make you prettier, more nimble, let you talk more freely. And more interestingly, would even empower those of magical blood, and even knights of the gods.

“It can’t be true, right?” The Lady was sceptical. “No drug can do all of that at once.”

Lise had managed to hold onto a pouchful of the stuff from the band of thieves who’d attacked them, and now was flipping one of the orange sweets in her fingers. “The girls were pretty adamant it worked for them. Though they also said too much of it was no good for your brains – you really should have a couple of day’s rest, or magical restoration if you take a lot of it. Harlot sweets aren’t exactly new, after all.” The raven-haired girl flicked it over to Alexandria, who fumbled and managed to just pin it against her armour. She was shorter by about a head, mousey but swift, and still managed to have a figure and curves Alexandria was jealous of – though the paladin would never admit it.

“She’s right,” Revadin cut in, dusting the remnants of another of the pills fastidiously from his tools. “It’d have some remarkable effects. You’d need to take three or four to have proper effect, but it’d be drastically improved if you did. Still, I’d avoid it. You might be all the more pretty and nimble, but you’d not be able to even think about what you’re supposed to be hitting. It’s addictive, too. But that shouldn’t be a problem.” His tall stature and lithe, frail body brought to mind a scrawny stick-figure, a willowy fop with a shock of blond hair. Pretty enough, but a bit too arrogant and prideful to honestly be affectionate to.

“What do you think, Grevel?” Both of the girls looked over to where the dwarf was sitting in meditation by the tiger as it slumbered. It was a moment or two before he answered.
>>
>>42928494
“The ingredients are natural. But more to the point, if it helps you with your communion with your god, dear Lady, it might allow me to save more of my own magics to use against our foes.” He didn’t open his eyes, and the swarthy figure spoke no more. Hair almost the same red as the Lady’s own.

“It sounds a bit fishy. I’m dubious. Really. I mean… drugs?” But there was something about them, something nagging on the harsh-faced knight as she retired to her room for the night, unbuckling her plate, stripping down to wash herself. As she left the bath, she caught a look of the small mirror, a luxury even in the expensive inn. Red hair, muscular body.. mannish hands and nothing to speak of with regards to beauty. But she had made her choice, to be sworn to her god. It was better to help people, after all.

In the morning after, the innkeeper wondered why someone had covered up the mirror with rags.

---

It was in the crypts that she tried them the first time. As the skeletons searched, she fumbled to open the packet. Spilling the little sweets into her palm. With Grevel tending to Lise’s wounds, she couldn’t hesitate.

Revadin caught her wrist a moment before she brought them up to her mouth. “Remember,” he said. “Not more than six. We don’t want two comatose people.”

She nodded, and swallowed.
>>
>>42928522
it was hard to remember what happened. there was a sweet taste in her mouth. a flying feeling as if gods were making her go up. her friend was hurting, so she reached to her and made her better. It felt ticklish when she touched her. the touch made her gasp all loud and then the bad dead ones came and she was scared they would hurt her friends (but not her. she was never afraid for herself.) and so she stood up and pushed her god at them and lots of them fell down, but some of them were still up so she pushed again and again. so much light! so much joy! and then there was just the last evil one that she knew was the worst even if he still was alive had brought all these thing to hurt them so she went towards him and though he tried to hit her with magic stuffs it didn’t work and then she hit him and hit him and hit him to stop him from doing bad things to stop him doing bad things ever again and threatening her friends until he wasn’t moving any more and she suddenly felt tired and grevel caught her hands and told her it was ok and to try to make herself think better so she did the god-magic
>>
>>42928538
And she felt the tears in her eyes, staggered back as the restoration washed through her like a dose of sobriety. The necromancer was dead – smashed to pieces beyond recognition. She spat on the corpse, wiping the tears away before looking at the skeletal guard – a host of them, twenty, perhaps more. Their bones scattered across the floor like a bony garden.
“Lise- is.. she is ok?” Grevel nodded, eyes concerned. It still felt like her brain was swimming in a fog, so she healed herself more. Her magic… it was all the more overpowering, a luxuriant, intoxicating sensation more than the drug itself that pumped through her veins. “I… wow. I.. it’s effective, definitely. But it’s hard to tell what’s going on when.. when I’m using it. I definitely will be, more, just because I can use it to heal instead of just saving it for emergencies. But… - are you ok, Grevel?” The dwarf was staring at her, eyes almost twinkling.

“Oh, nothing, my Lady. You just look a lot more happy. Almost shining.”

And she smiled at him, and the dwarf’s heart jumped a little.

“Let’s go make sure the others are ok before we head back to the town.”

---

Later, Lady Alexandria told the others she was fine after the sweets had worn off and she just needed to rest.

It was mostly true, too.
>>
>>42928538
Fucking great. The way grammar just fades away as the drug takes effect emphasizes her changed mental state. You're killing this.

Thanks! I'll try to get up a next bit, but am currently considering other ideas and input. What sort of thing would you like to see happening to our Lady, and any encounters or problems that arise due to this party's acts?
>>
>>42930119
Well, continued use of the sweets. Its too early on for her off-use behavior to change much, so I wouldn't want to see her dressing or acting different yet. Also, for as much as I am looking forward to the eventual tf stuff it's way too early for that.

So maybe more combat use. You could either go with her next encounter using it, or warp ahead to her first time taking a little too much.

All in all, though, you're doing a great job.
>>
>>42930119
>>42930802
Might be interesting to see her take a bit too much or have to use it while low on spell slots, meaning she has to deal with the effects after the fight as well. Could be a good chance to show how the other characters interact with her when she's like that.

Heck, some downtime with the other characters might be a good change of pace.

It only lasted an hour. That wasn’t too bad, especially with the big boost you could get. But she wasn’t able to take the sweets constantly – she only had so many restoratives she could use upon herself every day. Perhaps one set, or two? And trying to operate on lower… intelligence was difficult.

“I can’t take the time to stop the dumbing effects immediately after taking it in a fight. –Yes, that’s what I’ve been doing. But it’s also… well, it’s a bit dangerous for me to go blundering around while that dumb.” They were sitting around a campfire, all four of them. “You’ve got to make sure I’m.. well, that I’m aimed at the right people. I shouldn’t lose track – I know I wouldn’t hurt any of you, but…I don’t want to hurt any innocents if things are off.”

Lise looked puzzled at the thought. “Oh, come on, you wouldn’t hurt anyone-“

“Precautions. A wise decision.” Grevel was of a different mind. “Never know when something unexpected may occur.”

“Whatever you do, as long as you can find the ingredients, I can make it. No skin off my nose.”

“I’m trusting all of you, all right? Lady Solaria stared, imprinting her harsh gaze on each until they nodded. Until she was able to smile again. “Good. I trust you all. My friends.”

---

It was a month later when she first overdosed.

---
>>
>>42932148
“Cover up!” Trying to drag the armoured form out of the corridor was no small feat for Lise, as she pulled under the comatose woman with both arms round her armpits. A roar came from the tiger as Grevel beat back another of the gibberlings. The mist arose as he started back, billowing out from the wizard’s cloak – already invisible as he ran, following the rogue. “Wake her up! What do you mean, she won’t wake up?”

It was a harried fifteen minutes until they had managed to drag Alexandria far enough away, speaking in hushed voices as they hid in the cubbyhole Lise had found.

“Damn fool girl! I told her not to take more than six! That was the maximum she could have taken, why did she try to take more?!” Revadin was furious, face flushed as he looked down at the serene looking woman. The simple smile on her face calming, but his anger would not be denied.

Lise shook her head, looking back for a moment before resuming her vigil. “She didn’t. We split the pills up into packs of sixes the other day. There’s no way she would have take more.”

“Then why-“

“She hasn’t been healing all of the damage this is doing to her,” Grevel interrupted. His hands shone for a moment, and the paladin started awake, looking around with a blank expression until it saw the two men above her. And she smiled again, so very happy. “Auu-!” A burbling noise, as if the sound a child might make. They looked at each other, their faces grim.

“No, I don’t have more restoratives. Only the one. Alex? Alex, child? Can you understand me? We need to get out of here.”

She bounded to her feet, an amazingly elegant motion. Easily squatting by Revadin, taking his hand. Her head tilting to one side as if eater, as if awaiting something. Then sad, when he doesn’t respond. Seeking out Grevel for the same, and hugging him when he softly petted her head.

“We need to get out of here.”
>>
>>42932225
It would have worked, if not for the child.

They were nearly clear of the dungeon, when they heard the child scream. Alexandria had torn herself from Lise’s grasp in an instant, bounding towards where she had heard it. And she screamed, too, in horror – as she saw the child drop into the crowd of ravenous gibbering beasts.

“No, Alex! There’s too many-“

She had already waded in, the mighty blade sweeping through a full rank of the beasts. Their claws did not reach her, her movements precise, footwork as if in a dance. Her blows devastated them, rending the howling things head to toe, disembowling, lopping off limbs.

“We need to run-“ Grevel punched the wizard as he started to turn, his tiger already joining the fray.

“Torch the right hand side, you bastard! You can’t leave her!”

“I’ll hit her, though!”
“Just do it! She’ll survive!”

The wash of fire from Revadin’s hands helped devastate the remainder of them, and it’s not long before Alexandra had hacked her way through the rest, still bellowing an unintelligible shriek, barely any different from the gibberer’s cries. And then it was over, bar her tears falling. The sword dropped to the floor, and she had cradled the fallen child’s shredded body in her arms.

“NnnnnNN!” A glow suffused her, the blood spattered round her armour. Again she tried, clutching the corpse to herself. Tears spilling round the breastplate, adorning the body. Once more before Lise tried to take her hand. She snatched it back, the air itself alight with the positive power surging through her.

And then she was spent, and the power dissipated, the ethereal beauty about her gone in an instant, and there was just a harsh-faced woman bawling over a broken body, like a child who’s sole pet had died.

Despondence was in the group as they trudged back into the town. Lady Solaria had managed to cure herself after a day or two back, and reincarnation had brought the child back in the form of a dwarf. They’d managed to wipe out the horde that was threatening the town, and even managed to save the innocent. It did not seem to aid Alexandria mood much, as she remembered the mother looking at her son’s new form with suspicious, wary eyes. The way the child had not understood, and how he had cried.

“It’s not your fault, Gwen.” The voice of Lise was small comfort as they walked out with their reward. “Hell, we saved everyone. Even imperfectly.”
“I know. It’s just that- we could have stopped the horde, before it made that boy suffer.”

“If you’d been paying more attention to your intelligence, we might have. Instead, you put us all in danger. What were you thinking?!” Revadin still was in a fury, dispassionate elf features narrowed to a scowl. It didn’t help the paladin, who returned it, the expression harsh on her angular face.

“It’s not like I have a little number telling me how smart I am still! Look, shall I drop these thing? If taking them has been risking us all…”

“Quiet!” The little rogue clapped her hands over the two mouths. “Rev. Grevel. You two work on some magic doodad to stop Little Miss Gwen over here from dosing herself into unconsciousness. Gwen, on me. We’re going to get you relaxed. Ok?”

And it was clear that Lise was not taking no for an answer, as she marched off with the perturbed knight.

The rest-

“Look, they just need to get some healing from the church, you don’t NEED to lay hands on all of the sickly- ok, fine, you dosed yourself up, whatever, get to healing. Whatever makes you feel better.”

-of the night-

“-never knew that you were jealous. I mean, I always wanted a big bod like yours, all strong and powerful. Never was able to build up anything, though. Really? Jealous of me?”
“’es. You’re really cute… wish I had a body more like this. I’m ugly. An’ all ugly faced. No one wan’s me for my looks.”
“Well, let me tell you a little secret. Did you think this was my natural body? I know of a guy who can-“

-was somewhat-

“-And listen, she might want something big, but she still needs to fight, all right? I might be drunk and she might be out of her head, but have it DECENTLY sized, not over the top and ridiculous.”
“BIG TITTIES!”
“I’m the one paying, so no, no big titties. Nicely shaped ones. And waist and.. here, here, this bit too. And if you put in extra bits I’ll be back here tomorrow and rip out your-“

-Eventful.

Revadin burst in the door when he heard the scream. Locked eyes with the half-dressed woman in Lise’s room at the mirror, and was chased out as she threw a shoe at him. “Out! Get out, Revadin!”
Cursing, he shouted himself at the rogue- “Lise! Did you invite one of your brothel frie-“ And then, an uncomfortable thought as he considered the woman for a moment. Swung the door open again.

He ignored the other shoe hitting him in the shoulder, as his eyes bulged, looking at Alexandria’s face, then down to her hand-covered bosom. Down over her shapely waist, the sleek, defined musculature of her legs.

Her gaze dropped, too, to the bulge in his pants. “I said OUT!”

He nearly bounced down a full flight of stairs.

In the light of the room, the girl looked at herself in the mirror. Expression flickering between surprised pleasure and dismay as she bounced, hesitantly stretched and at last flexed. Still as strong and agile. But… beautiful. Her face softened, her body… reshaped. And she remembered how the wizard had reacted, and blushed. Blushed all the way to the floor.
>>
>>42933827
“I’m just saying, it’s irresponsible to use your funds like that. And isn’t it going to interfere with-“

“Buzz off, Rev. I paid for it myself, and she’s happier now.” Wizard and rogue were staring each other down over the issue, with neither backing down. Alexandria off to the side, still flushed. Her outfit was far too small for her, and it was somewhat tight to put on. The rest of her armour was going to need to be hammered out, too.

“We’ve made something that’d stop the Lady from being knocked out entirely, but I’m suddenly very doubtful whether we should give it to her!”

“Order.” The third voice was that of the Grevel, backed by the growl of his tiger. It was amazing how it managed to quiet people down. “Why don’t we ask the lady herself?”

And so, still blushing somewhat, Lady Solaria spoke haltingly. “I think.. I’ll stay like this? It’d cost more to change it back, after all. And… it’s.. not slowing me down or anything?” Gods, she couldn’t look at their faces like this. Even as Lise crowed, and Revadin grumbled. It took both of their grasp to tear her face away from her hands, for her to see the other smiling girl, the long faced elf.

“Fine, as long as-“ Alex smiled, and Revadin’s harsh façade broke. “As you don’t throw anything else at me for looking at you wrong.” And as she eased the soft bruise on his shoulder, she promised she wouldn’t. And thanked Lise, too. Even if she had been drugged off her head during consent to the alterations.

It felt like a weight had been lifted from her heart.

Yes, uh... so?
>>
>>42930982
>>42931267
I'm not that guy, and I don't think this thread shouldn't be here, this is /tg/ after all. However I'm really not seeing how this isn't just soft bimboification. If you think there's a difference what the fuck is it? Because I'm not seeing it.
>>
Curious
>>
>>42937205
Yes, it's tg, where every so often we manage to produce /tg/ related magical realm content that's better than it has a right being.

This belongs up there with the Seige Knights or the young red dragon x frost giantess travel romance
>>
I'll just be bumping this with thanks to the writefag. I was one of the main posters in the first thread, and I worried that moralfags or power-fantasy shitters would damage the concept, but you, writefag, managed to do it tastefully and well (something that's roughly impossible when dealing with an idea like this).
Also, I hope there's more, for many reasons.
>>
>>42937205
I think the difference is in the care and quality of the writing and the characterization in this and other creative endeavors that take trips across the magical realm.

More often than not, you can get cheap, titillating smut that just exists to fulfill or embody certain fetishes that the writers and posters enjoy. Sometimes though, you can get a story or idea that can visit certain magical realms without overstaying their welcome and still having strong characterizations and plotlines.

With this particular thread and these particular characters, I'm really interests in seeing what permanent costs our lady paladin and her cohorts are willing to pay for empowering her through such dangerous methods. I'm invested in the tale and really hoping to see it continue.

Ideas:
>What would happen if our protagonist must choose between intentionally overdosing herself for the power boost and potentially losing herself, and letting an innocent or even a friend come to harm?

>What would happen if another member of the protagonist's faith or order discovered that she was reliant alchemical aids, the detriments to their usage aside?

>What would our protagonist do if she came face to face with a women who walked the same path that she does now, who has used and abused similar magics long enough for their effects to become permanent?
>>
>>42939298
But just because the fetish is executed well doesn't mean it isn't the same fetish.
Woman gets prettied up and dumbed down. The anon above wasn't wrong when they implied this thread is trotting into the magical realm known as bimboification.
>>
>>42939369
Well, it's more of a deconstruction. It explores the interpersonal consequences and rationale behind a fetish where those two are often completely glossed over, as well as handling the fetish in a way that isn't invasive or rapey. I'd say it's a solid experiment in deconstructing a concept that often never amounts to anything else than handwaves, porn and immature, disturbing power fantasies.
Don't get me wrong, it's magical realm, but it's a pretty tasteful and thought-out magical realm that has narrative weight and actually isn't very disturbing.
>>
>>42939298
Ssh, stop spoiling all the ideas I'm just writing up!

-Just writing now, there's similar ideas/elements of most of what you said in all of it.

>>42939369
I won't deny, it's fairy fetishy writing. But hey, it's pretty /tg/ material.
>>
>>42939402
But... All I'm saying is that it's still bimboification. Maybe it's just because it's late here but were you even disagreeing?
>>42939421
>I won't deny, it's fairy fetishy writing. But hey, it's pretty /tg/ material.
>fairy fetishy
Giggity.
But yeah this is pretty standard /tg/ material unless the mods here have gotten even worse lately.
>>
>>42939462
Not really, per se. I'd say it's still technically bimbofication, but I really wouldn't use that word about it. The basic theme of the fetish is there, yes, but it has few of the myriad conventions that are completely omnipresent in the genre as a whole.
So no, I'm not really disagreeing, but I don't feel that it should be judged as fetish content. It's more of a meta-fetish concept, exploring and rationalizing a fetish instead of just writing it out.

there had been some talky stuff round everywhere about how she had been so good at killing things and healing things and even the order of red flower knights heard of it. alexy did not know why her friends did not want them to see her and in any case they were busy trying to look at this bad man and what he was doing in his big place. but that was why she was on her own and in disguise to find out what was happening. something bad happening and she was going to find out what.
>>
>>42940007
“So it’s not just a drug for courtesans, even though the name is… suggestive. There are legitimate benefits, though I would not recommend it to everyone.” It was an irony to Revadin that the one who normally was able to talk sweet sense into people was the one they had to hide away. The grim faced knight – he’d said his name earlier but damned if the elf could be bothered to remember it – had managed to catch them just while trying to investigate a Baron’s household. “Can you come back later?”

“If it isn’t anything bad, why are you trying to hide her? You can understand that when we heard one of our knights had become ‘an avatar of fear and beauty incarnate on the battlefield’ and some sort of merciful angel by some sort of alchemical means and finding out it’s a drug for common whores… you can understand where our worries come from, yes?” This paladin had a thin smile on his face, as if disgustedly amused by the whole thing. “And yet all this would be easily resolved if I could just talk to her-“

“If this person doesn’t shut up about common whores I’m going to deck him one, Rev. The guards took the bait and are busy chasing Grevel and there’s just servants around. Where’s Gwen?” Lise had dropped down from the wall besides the two, landing lightly as she glared at the white haired knight.

“What do you mean, where’s Alex? I thought she was with you-“ The two of their eyes met in horrified realisation, and both charged towards the mansion.
>>
>>42940024
she could hear the panting and creaking and soft moaning and knew it was from down the stairs the servants did not bother her and in her pretty dress she pushed open the door and went down the stairs and she saw the girls all chained up and looking stupid and dumb on the beds and she went past each in a daze as they cried out for more sweets though one very pretty one tried to charm her so she knocked the girl out

and at the end she saw the bad man atop the pretty girl and she could see the evil burning in his head as she drank all the sights and sounds in and already she had taken the knife in her hand from behind her and she called him out as she moved to him and there was a shout from him for mercy as the blade drew back and another shout from Rev and she lashed out and punched him to the floor with one blow and he did not move but was still alive

and the other knight watched as she went from bed to bed touching each with her deity to take away the need for more sweets but could not make them all fully smart again and she was crying but Revadin was comforting her and hugging her and telling her that they would get better in time and the knight was watching with that cold gaze and even Lise was staring at him and her so close as if she was angry too and it was frightening oh so frightening

“Magicians. Wizards, or wizards to be. Lured in with the promise they’d be given things that would enhance their powers. Fooled by the baron and his pet sorceress. All young, bright girls who were just a bit naïve, and then drugged up and addicted. They’ll recover. At least, those ones will. The sorceress, on the other hand –“ Sir Swainson looked into the other room, where the woman in the once-expensive dress cried out, flailing at the attempts to bring her back to an intelligible state.

It had been a day after the raid on the baron’s house and Lady Solaria had recovered some sense of intelligence with a bit of restoratives. She nodded numbly at the other knight, drinking a warm cup of steamed milk. It warmed her hands, her body.
“Will she recover?”

“She doesn’t seem to want to recover. The woman should be already be able to talk and think for herself, but she just cries out for her master, and to be told what to do. Who knows how long she’s been taking them?” The white haired knight shook his head. “It’s more than just the drug’s effect. Or perhaps the long term use. I can’t deny, you did good down there. Normally you wouldn’t have been able to brush aside the spells she was slinging at you. And a horde of gibberlings should have torn you to pieces by all rights.”
>>
>>42940050
Her mentor sat back, a sigh escaping his lips. “On the other hand – well. You saw those girls down there. And you were about to kill the Baron. Which wouldn’t have been wrong, but it could have been a lot more right. I can safely recommend the use to paladins, but no-one else. As for your own usage - don’t overdo it, ok? I can’t tell you how best to serve, but then again, you should be the one to know right from wrong. Not others.”

“Unless you want to give it up. You can still claim your family’s fortune, girl. You don’t have to torture yourself through this-“

Lady Alexandria Gwendolyn Solaria held up her hand, warding off the way out. “No. I still want to do my part.”

They both stood, she hesitantly reaching out for a hug – a clank of metal against metal as the two embraced. “You’ve all grown up, girl.” Sir Swainson ever so uncomfortable at the press on his chest, patting her on the back. “Stay true.”

I thought it was interesting that The protagonist was going to kill the Baron outright instead of knocking him out, and wonder about what this might mean.

>Are the prolonged use of the sweets affecting her judgement in the use of force, or was the intended use of force a result of her subconscious realization that the Baron was victimizing girls like herself in their consumption of sweets?
>>
>>42926285
Who the fuck thought this was balanced? 60 GP and it applies int -damage-, something a paladin can eventually remove.

>slowly transforming into a complete whore
Nope, just a sweet, air headed cocktease
>>
>>42940718
I'm not even invested in the whole cocktease angle myself. I'm after some convoluted, Flowers for Algernon style storytelling.

What other classes would most benefit from the use of Harlot Sweets or similar magic? So much so that they might unwittingly or perhaps even willingly end up experiencing the long-term consequences of their abuse.

I'm still somewhat curious as to what would happen if the protagonist met an adventurer or hero that was much father gone than she was, giving her a closer glimpse at what her own future would look like if she chooses to continue dosing.
>>
>>42940990
The answer to that question is "charisma based classes that don't rely on intelligence"

That includes Bard, Bloodrager, Oracle, Sorcerer, Summoner, and Warlord. I'm sure there's a bunch I missed, but those are the ones that immediately come to mind.

Noteworthy is that anybody with consistent access to a restoration spell can work this without suffering too much damage, which is basically only Oracle and Paladin unless the others are willing to splurge on UMD and magic items.
>>

Archetypal D&D paladin girl using a drug that ups cha & dex at the cost of int. Immunity to disease means immunity to addiction, and ease of abuse of the drug until her in drops below 3 and she goes comatose at 0, really this seems like a more interesting paladin plot then an edgelod DM forcing a fall from grace.
>>
>>42941056
Bard would seem to be the obvious choice here.
>>
>>42940990
>I'm after some convoluted, Flowers for Algernon style storytelling.
See, that's what I'm after too. Sure, there's a sexual element involved because of the method of change. That's interesting, and I'd like to see that explored as well. Her thoughts and feelings about her own appearance and personality play into this as well.

But what makes this interesting is that she's essentially using paladin steroids, and what does that mean for her as a paladin?
>>
>>42940059

He found her playing with the sorceress, rattling beads and shiny bits of jewelry about as they threaded them onto long chains, comparing them, offering them up to each other and smiling and giggling. The well rounded bodies contained within the simple smocks, bouncing and semi-visible through the thin cloth. He found his throat dry all of a sudden.

“Oh, hi, Revy! Freschi and I were just talking! We’re becoming good friends.” The pale skinned, dark-haired sorceress leaned into Alexandria’s embrace, nuzzling her head against the paladin’s chest with a smile. “She’s already telling me all the things she likes and doesn’t like. Doesn’t she look pretty with the jewellery I made for her?!”

The elf had to sit down as he looked over them both again, seeing the makeshift adornments and the matching bands of engraved silver around each wrist. The former slave certainly wasn’t ugly – a somewhat homely look as she smiled winsomely up at him. But she wasn’t as pretty as Alex- Damn it.

“She’s very pretty, yes. I was talking to your friend knight about the Baron-“ A suddenly furious look from lady Solaria cut him off, but too late – at the sound of the title Freschi had jumped up, a look of worry in her eyes.

“you didn’t hurt him, did you? he's a good master! please let him go! please let me see him! he’ll be so lonely without me!” Alexandria was trying to calm her, but she brushed the other woman off, surging towards him like a begging puppy. He almost lashed out as the wizard recognised the incantation of a spell, stopping only when the silver wristbands glow and the magic fizzles in her grasp.

Alexandria catches the sorceress’ wrist as it reached to the bag on her own waist. “No. No more sweets for you.”

“but-“ The look of anguish on her face is palpable, and then she struggles with Revadin’s robes as she tries to pull his underwear free.

“i can do all sorts of fun things with you if you let him go, if you be my friend! or even if you just make sure he is ok i can be yours if you want. just so he is all ok. and it will feel good and you just have to say yes-“

“Get her off me!” It’s at times like this he really wished he prepared more nonlethal spells.

And then Alexandria pulled her back, pulled her into another hug. Cradled her and held her down and soothed the sorceress with devastating powers and the mind of a child, soothed the crying girl.

They watched the paladin lead her away. Grevel and Lise had joined the two once more, as they looked out over the other witches and wizards to be, cured of their addictions and recovering from the ravages of the drugs.

“How smart are you now? That wasn’t all you being dumb, was it?” Revadin broke the silence.
“Mostly ok. Not 100% but.. not utterly dumb. I was playing with her to try and make her feel better and get her comfortable. She’s smart again, she could probably get those cuffs off if no-one was watching her and she tried. But it’s as if she wanted that lifestyle. To be a… ugh. A toy. A pet.”
Lady Solaria looked away, back to the others. “Some of them, too. At least most of them are thankful.”

“At least the paladins can channel her energies into something peaceful. Gods, I can still remember her asking if the people who will be telling her what to do will fu- will make love to her. I just… glossed over it. I can almost understand not wanting to think, but the other thing…?”
>>
>>42942313

It was Lire who answered this one. “Because fucking feels good, Gwyn. I know you knights have that code of chastity, and that guy was an asshole rapist, but there’s some things that you’re missing out on because of it. Haven’t you two done it yet?” The look on Alexandria’s face was priceless, a truly scandalized, blushing expression. Revadin’s not much better.

“-Even IF her mentor hadn’t promised me a slow, painful death across five continents if I so much as touched her, let alone abused her, I happen to think of myself a bit more nuanced than to simply seduce someone if they’ve vows against it-“

“That’s absurd! I mean, not because Revy’s not cute, not that he is- but I just don’t need that sort of thing with my god-“

“So you’re both dickless, then!” Even th light punch from Lise against the wizard was surprisingly painful.
“Ow! I’ve got a dick, want me to show it to you tonight?”
“Ha! You know I don’t swing that way, even though you look more like a girl than Gwyn-“
“What are you both saying- I mean, that was a joke, right? It was a joke-“
“Quiet.”

Once again, the growl of the tiger cut through the conversation, Grevel cutting through all of the rising tempers with a gravelly voice.
“We are professionals, not squabbling children.” –A clack of beads spilling from Lise’s pocket rattled across the floor.
“-We are SUPPOSED to be professionals. And should act like it. Now, we did a good job again. Saved people. Made good friends and protected innocent people. We even have been paid a goodly sum by the missing bounties. Shall we go get some rest?”

And it’s only the wisdom of the dwarf that brought them to some semblance of peace.

If my observations are correct, the idea is almost the same as the ones who keep posting succubus threads - the lack of inhibitions being the primary attraction.

I was trying to to for an end that wasn't quite a bad end but wasn't quite a good end. I wanted there to be repercussions for the young bard's willful abuse of the Sweets when she knew better, but I didn't want to portray her too harshly or unsympathetically either.

How would you have steered her story differently?
>>
>>42944038
Not sure, I just think the public humiliation and career ruining aspects are too much, maybe have her breakdown/overdose near someone she knows and trusts and have her tearfully explain what's going on and even though she has to decline the big show, they help her get her life back on track?

>>
>>42944144
Everyone wants to believe they're a good person, right? That they're functional, normal - or at the very least, that they have some self-control, that there's something separating them from the wild beasts.

Prudence is a quality generally associated with civilized folk - there's this idea that to be cultured and human, one must forsake their baser impulses.

Or so I am told.
>>
>>42944196
Here's the thing though, you don't have to sit down at a particular table, ie a thread, if they're playing something you don't like. There are lots of games and threads in /tg/, and not everything is going to appeal to everyone.

I get what you're going for, but the onus really is on the offended party to remove themselves from what's offensive if the thing offending is being done out of public spaces.
>>
>>42944196
I think that's just an assumption. At least for myself, I would never inject something into my games or characters if other people weren't alright with it from the start. If we're playing a silly lighthearted campaign with friends, then they know how things will go.

Shouldn't part of roleplaying be challenging yourself and others to deal with situations they don't normally experience?

That sounds like a sad lie people tell themselves to me, honestly. Most people can function well enough, but when you have a society of people who tell themselves that they have self-control, are good people, and don't have any problems, things get lost and people get hurt without really knowing why.

It's why I think in our society a lot of people are misguided, have no joy, or feel pain and don't understand why, but this shit's getting too not/tg/ for me.

>>42944697
>I have two hands, one to facepalm and one to thumbs up with.

That's pretty accurate sentiment to have about many things that come out of /tg/, really.

>>42944133
Maybe a better route to have taken would have been to have her mental collapse and loss of speech take place well before the performance during rehearsals instead of in the middle of it. Her rise to stardom still would have been ended and she still would have been permanent affected by the choices she'd made, but she would have been spared the public humiliation and could still be a favorite performer amongst locals and children.

I actually agree 100%. I wish that less of /tg/'s content was fetish shit, but I ignore the threads I don't care about and hide the ones I find actually objectionable. Shitflooding a thread just because you don't like the contents is really dumb, and the janitor was right to prune that faggotry.

I guess I'd just prefer there was less of an attitude that anyone who doesn't care for threads on bimbofication or elf rape or lactating orc berserkers or holding hands is the tumblr boogeyman, because I'm really fucking sick of that particular circlejerk.

This is a good question, and one I hope I can answer well - I think roleplaying is a good way to explore things from a different perspective and to challenge yourself to be a different person, sure, but that needs to not be at the expense of the actual real people in the group. No one is the only person at the table, basically, and if people don't like your rape factory or whatever, you need to be prepared to either compromise with them or leave. Again, public place, you don't gotta be in that game if what you want is different from what the group wants. In any case, communication is good, and making sure that everyone has the same expectations is good, so keep doing that thing.

I get how that could be frustrating, but you understand how that meme, and call it what it is, it's a meme, came about, right? Crying moralfag and tumblrite has become hat because it is infrequently one person with a solid, well reasoned objection. More often than not its a pack of shitposting, which moralfags and tumblrinias are known for.

So I understand your frustration, and I'd like to help, but do you understand why people react the way they do?
>>
>>42945177
Oh yeah, I know it's a meme and all, I just tacked some extra whining onto the end of my post that I probably shouldn't have. Anyway, sorry for butting into the thread, I didn't mean to actually start up a conversation.

It still has consequences, but has a nicer ending too.

If I weren't feeling so damned tired I'd try to flesh it out with some real writing.

>-Back to the story, though! Do we want our fair lady to be wildly oscillating between dumb and reasonably smart, or slowly descending into permanent stupidity? I'm leaning towards the former and got a basic thought of how to write this but want opinions first.

I think what you want is like, redneck / good ol christian knowhow - these aren't necessarily DUMB people, though sometimes they may act like it - but wisdom and faith is a trait valued greater than int.
No matter how smart you are, momma raised some common sense into you, and there are just somethings you do or don't do - what your career or if you're good with people or not, there's that shared platform/common playing field.

Basically, not-Da South mentality/steriotypes.

Dumb and reasonably smart, but still has wisdom.

Also iirc there are feats to sub in different stats for class features - you could even go full hog with something similiar to Dynamic Priest (3.5, legend of the twins) - not sure if you have an exact system in mind, but its possible.

the paradox at the heart of 4chan

how can you tell the difference between a person with a solid, well-reasoned objection and a person who is just aggressively shitposting?

to anyone who is not a native of /r9k/, /pol/, /b/, or /tg/ on days when the quest thread infestation has flared up, their entire bizarre worldview looks like nothing more than people aggressively shitposting at each other. but some poor fucked-up souls find that shit genuinely compelling and world-changing.

they got a description for words like moralfag out in the SJW and anti-SJW corners of the internet: "thought-terminating cliche." you have called the person saying "maybe there is something a little fucked up about writing fanfiction about a woman too stupid to stop you from fucking her at will" a moralfag. therefore, you can stop thinking. they are wrong by default.

we give tumblr shit for being a hugbox, but the only serious difference between us from a DO NOT VIOLATE THE CONSENSUS OR SUFFER THE CONSEQUENCES standpoint is that we use "edgelord" where they use "problematic."

Sorry about this! I'm trying to write the next part but all that's coming out is drama, tears and uncomfortable sexual implications that still manage to fail to deliver smut, which I'm gathering is not what either the wholesome OR fetish crowd wants. I'm sort of running a bit low on ideas to spread the drama bits out more!
>>
>>42957332
I has a few potential ideas, if you'd care for them.

>For whatever reasons, one minor ingredient the party needs to make the Sweets runs low. Just something seeming inconsequential like a sweetener or some such. Seeing as how it's only a minor ingredient, a substitute is used that nonetheless ends up having unexpected side effects.

>After another big fight or an overdose, our paladin is seperated from her party and forgets to restore herself. She is then found by a kindly old couple or a group of children who take the "simple" girl in or help lead her back to her party.

>A situation that might have ended in bloodshed by a party of hard minded murderhoboes is instead defused because of our paladin's altered state of mind.
>>
>>42949659
Adventuring brought them back together. Having to trust each other with your lives – and, in Lady Solaria’s case, the lives of innocents – would do that.

A stint chasing a great winged beast though the mountains above Goldlam, wearing it down in multiple ambushes. Decisively won when Lise pounced upon the creature from above, tangling nets into its wings and riding it all the way into the cliffs.

-“Showoff.”
“I think it looked really pretty!! Are you hurt?”
“I’m.. I’m fine. I really wished that you’d bring more eagles next time. Or bigger ones.”
“Giant eagles don’t solve anything, Lise. And, this isn’t giant eagle country. Come on, there’s going to be a war on if we don’t hurry up.”

A standoff between two opposing barbarian clans on the brink of battle when the leader’s sons and daughters had vanished into the night with each other. Sorted out with Alexandria singing a tale of bravery and joy in a marriage, and Revadin teleporting the two lovers back together with a blush on their cheeks and smiles on their faces.
>>
>>42957611

DEMONS! In the forest! Technically that was even true, but the small cult that had summoned up the imps was more of the threat. And never mind that they had done terrible things, and had tried their best to kill the party – with the paladin leading the way in a forward charge, weapons and foul magic bouncing off her without effect, it opened the way for Grevel and Revadin alike to subdue many of them without killing. It had been much more difficult, but she was adamant it was worth it.

“It’s funny, Gwyn. We’re having to think for you, and that means having to think like you. I’d have just tossed all these guys in the pit and let the devils sort them out. Instead, we’re making sure you’re showing mercy.”
“Ehe. How do you know that wasn’t my cunning plan all along?”
“…Because you’re as bright as a the tiger when concussed and drunk.”
“That’s true! You caught me out!”
“Hey. That’s not fair on the girl. This big cat’s smart enough not to drink too much, even after being hit on the head!”
They shared a laugh together.

A lich. It screamed as the phylactery shattered across the floor. “HOW CAN THIS BEEE?! DEFEATED BY SOMEONE AS DIM-WITTED AS YOUUUU???!”
Not its final words. Those were at the sight of Alexandria smiling down at the skull head, having been cut loose from its body. “AT LEAST.. I WAS ABLE TO SEE… SUCH A BEAUTY BEFORE I UN-DIED.”
>>
>>42957587
>>After another big fight or an overdose, our paladin is seperated from her party and forgets to restore herself. She is then found by a kindly old couple or a group of children who take the "simple" girl in or help lead her back to her party.

She ends up spending a week or more with the old couple, helping around their farm and acting like the dim but lovely daughter they never had. When the others eventually find her, she resists them tying to take her back until they lay a restorative on her to bring her to her senses. She and the old couple part ways in low spirits.

It's here that Alex realizes that the effects of the drug she's taking are no longer wearing off on their own, and that while under their effects she was disturbingly happy abandoning the world she knew to be the old couple's daughter.
>>
I'm going to bump this out of guilt for not being able to contribute - I'm a writefag, but I seize up whenever I have to write smut or fetish material.
Writefag, you're doing Pelor's work. Good luck with your creativity.
>>
>>42958369
Who says that you need to write smut? More than a few folks are following this thread for feels and storytelling. You could see what you could do with the "young bard" character from earlier or make up someone new.
>>
>>42958466
Well, fetish material.
To be honest, it's my fetish, and that makes it very awkward and fiddly to write anything relating to it. Even if it isn't smut, I'd have to completely excise my fetishes from it before I could write anything about it. I can't write about my own fetishes because I get bogged down worrying that it'll distract me from writing anything of actual value and from following proper narrative conventions.
>>
>>42958496
Not that anon, but I know how that is. Biggest thing though, that I've found, is to bull through the insecurities. Take criticism where it comes up, but don't be afraid to inject a bit of what you like into something. So long as you don't go too overboard - that's what editors are for, after all - you should be perfectly fine, and you writing what you find interesting will make other people like it too.
>>
>>42958496
Understandable.
>>
I'm sort of tempted to use all this as the inspiration for a character's background and as a way to make min-maxing in-character and fun.

An almost mindless but strangely charismatic young woman dressed in rags and battered, ill-fitting armor who falls in with an adventuring party because she's oddly in-tune with the divine and unusually wise at times. Eventually it would come to light that she was once a paladin of an esteemed order who abused alchemical augmentations until the effects became permanent and she just sort of wandered off.

>"So what's this broad s'posed to be?"

>Jo asked, taking a draw on her cigar, the next words out of her mouth accompanied by a puff of acrid smoke.

>"Some kinda clerical savant or somethin'?"

>Florian turned toward the halfling to speak, but ended up drawing in a lung full of smog instead, sending the elf on a coughing fit that brought a slight grin to the stout woman's face.

>"That... That is what... That is what they told us at the... At the church... I wish you wouldn't smoke like that Josephine. For several reasons. You smell like an ash tray half-full of gunpowder..."

>The tall ranger scowled behind his hand, taking a precautionary step backward as he batted the cloud of cigar smoke away, causing the alchemist and bombardier to laugh outright and grin more widely.

>"What can I say Flo? I like t'live dangerously."

>Scowling as his partner continued to puff merrily in her cigar, Florian felt certain that an errant ember would one day be the halfling woman's explosive undoing.

>The sudden sound of youthful laughter and cheers roused the ranger from his reverie and drew his gaze back across the road toward the assembly of children and adults that had grown around the "clerical savant" they all had apparently come to see.

>Garbed in colorful rags coated in road dust, the woman looked every inch the beggar or perhaps a wandering pilgrim or holywoman who'd taken a vow of poverty. The face under the large, floppy hood however was young and surprisingly beautiful with wide green eyes set in pale skin that seemed almost to shine beneath the dirt.

>"She seems to had drawn quite a crowd. Maybe there's something to her healing prowess after all."
>>
>>42963943
>Florian mused as he watched one of the children approach the woman, holding in his arms a mangy dog missing a hind leg, the stump freshly bandaged.

>The elf and halfling watched curiously as the dog caught the woman's attention, causing her to burble and blurt out a string of happy half-sentences and nonsense words that the let's owner and the gathered crowd took to be a good sign.

>"She's simple!"

>Jo said, far too loudly for the ranger's comfort as the strange healer in rags took the dog into her lap, giggling as it began to lick at her face.

>"She can't talk proper, see? That's why these folks're all crowdin' 'round! They want to have themselves a laugh at a fool!"

>Despite his desire to quiet his companion, the tall man could not deny that the girl did seem "touched."

>Still laughing and giggling, the woman dressed in rags turned the dog over in her lap to rub its stomach and only then seem to notice its missing leg, a fact that seemed to cause her a great deal of distress. She looked to the boy, who in turn nodded and smiled back to her, seeming hopeful and encouraging at the same time.

> Seeming then to understand what she was being asked to do, the woman nodded back eagerly and laid her hands upon the stump of the dog's leg, mumbling and murmuring solemn words that, nonetheless, Florian was certain weren't part of any prayer or spell he's ever heard.

>Suddenly, there was a flare of pearlescent light and a cheerful yip-yap of a bark, and just as easily as that the mongrel's leg was restored to the renewed laughter and cheers of the crowd.

>"Well would you lookit that shit!"

>Jo said, cigar nearly dropping from her mouth in astonishment.

>"She really is some sort of mad medicinal genius! You know what this means Flo?"

>"I do, Josephine."

>The elven ranger said, nodding to the stout halfling in understanding as the strange woman in rags held the dog up for all to see before hugging it tight to her chest.

>"We may just have our healer."

-It was after the hunt for the Royal Griffin that disaster struck. A rickety bridge collapsed under the weight of the paladin’s plate armor, the rotten ropes giving way with a wet sigh. Lise shrieked as the footing vanished beneath her, scrabbling to catch hold of the ropes. On the other side both of the casters started forwards – suddenly out of reach of most of their spells, they scrambled to act as Alexandria dangled below.

She looked about wildly, as if searching for some solution the sudden predicament. As the rogue above stabbed a spike through the other rope to pin it to the rock face, as she tangled her legs in it to start crawling down towards her stricken friend. As Grevel started summoning, drawing forth a spirit of air that could catch her. As her elf companion shouted something indistinct to the panicking knight.

“-ther fall! The token of feather fall! Use it! Token of feather fall!”

Understanding came a few moments too late as Lady Solaria reached for her belt. The second rope gave way, swinging her helmet right into the cliff face. And suddenly going limp, she tumbled into the gorge with only Lise’s unbelieving scream following her.

it was cold. her arm felt like fire. someone had wrapped her in blankets and put bandages on her. her head hurt. and she heard voices.

“-From the river, but she could have come from anywhere. On the brink of death when I fished her out.”
“Shouldn’t have brought her here. Knights and those sorts never did anyone any good. It’s why we moved away from all the cities after – well, you know.”
“I couldn’t have left her. She looks like she’d be around Layla’s age. If she hadn’t…”

they were old folk and poor folk and even though they had been scared they tended to her and saved her. frightened when she touched herself with healing hands and less so when she had touched them, too, and helped make all the aches and pains go away for a while. and then they were thankful because she had helped them and that made her feel glad too, even if she was still weak and weary. glad enough so that she ignored the little voice that told her she was forgetting something. and so she stayed another night.

---

“Still on the trail. Tiger’s going on ahead. She was washed far downstream, but no sign of her apart from-“
The helmet was battered, but it was still recognisable as hers. Blood was soaked on the inside of it. It still hung on the rogue’s belt.
“We’ll find her, Lise. But there’s more important things at the moment-“
An arrow clattered off the magical aura only for Revadin to hurl a bolt of arcane might back through the woods. In the distance a stifled cry could be heard.
“Come on. We’ve got to keep moving.

She found the old man out back, cutting wood. It was a long pause between each chop, the axe rising and falling overhead in the dappled clearing. She watched as if mesmerised, the blanket and simple smock that she wore trailing in the grass. He told her to go rest, but she stood there mutely as he took in both the healthy flush of her face and her still broken(?) arm in the splint. She held out her hand, and after a moment, a hesitation, he passed the axe to her. A heft, a weighing of it. And she started to chop the wood in broad strokes. A rhythmic motion, slicing the logs into wedges, cutting them apart. A one handed action that seemed vaguely familiar, somehow disturbing and yet natural. It was hours later that she stopped, as the sun started to set. And then she helped the old man take the wood inside the small shed.

The old woman had cooked up a stew. “To keep your strength up,” she had said. And it tasted nothing like his- like the cooking she was used to, and it was a bit burnt so she made a face but in truth it wasn’t really bad and soon she had gobbled a lot of it up. And her smile mirrored the old woman’s one, and her husband’s one when he didn’t think she was watching.

She spent the time watching the clouds rise up to cover the stars through the murky glass window, lost in the peacefulness of the woods. Her had reached up to touch the bump on her forehead, still present from the fall. The couple watched her rest, keeping quiet as she whimpered, as the expressions of sadness and regret conflicted on her sleeping face.
>>
>>42965505
The rain had started. The torrential downpours marked the buildup to the moving season, the auspicious time when the nomads of the steppe started on their trek across the plains.
“That doesn’t explain why in the nine hells these assholes barbarians are doing here, Grevel!” The remaining trio were making their way down the riverbed, harried by arrows and the occasional wildebeest attack.
“If they’re out all the way in the woods, that means the clan leaders must have sent them out! Raids, hunting after someone, maybe? Your guess is as good as mine! Come on, Eagle’s said she’s a couple more days away in a cottage! But there’s a lot more nomads heading towards where she is!”
They forged on.
>>
>>42965522
Fire was important. The smoke from the charcoal-maker rose up, a thick white plume punching into the pouring rain. You kept it alive to keep warm, or you’d not last. After the days of huddling together to keep the fears of the forest away, after tending to her own wounds, after they had looked after her, she was returning the favour by keeping the fire lit. The smock they had lent her was already soot-stained, in dire need of cleaning as she wiped away the ash from her brow. It was eyewatering business. But it kept them alive.

She had heard the whooping calls coming closer in the night, the haunting cries that had lead them to hide away. But you couldn’t hide forever as the cold began to set in. Magical healing would not save someone cold to the bone like the old woman. The old lady had tried to gather herbs for her even though she was half frozen and soaked through! How dare she risk herself like that? How dare she try and protect someone like her… Tears rolled down the filthy face. Just the smoke. Not because here was where she had felt the most happy, being tended to, helping out this old couple in the middle of nowhere. Not because she could feel this time coming to an end.

The fire had been fed. And, feeling the eyes staring from her from the woods, she hefted the axe and left the safety of the hut. The rain plastered the red hair to her back, wiping away the covering ash from her face, scraping it off in trickles. Three of them, with axes and bows and thick animal skins. More on the way. They howled when they saw her, a haunting cry of the hunt. She felt the eyes of the old man of her back, as he tended to his wife. And she answered with her own battle cry, a wordless challenge, an oath of protection of the innocent and vengeance to evil. And they charged her, and the battle began.
>>
>>42965537
“They’re running. No – barbs are fucking fleeing for their lives. That’s our girl doing that, isn’t it?” Lise’s voice ragged but eager as she watched the nomads sprint through the woods, away from the charcoal-maker’s house. She was the one first to the scene, seeing the fire in the background illuminate her flaming hair amongst the pitter of raindrops, muffling the sound of violence.

Axe swinging down, a chopping motion. Smashing through the haft of a weapon, held in both hands. Curving the strike to the side, striking shoulder instead of skull, smashing bone. Blood mixing with the puddles. Slam the butt into the one dashing behind her, knocking him off balance. Avoid the slash – bleeding from three place, one deeply. Hook leg – pull as she angles the blade against his chest. Not immediately fatal but would be soon. A moment of rest – heal the one she’d struck in the calf before he bleeds out entirely. Bring up the axe to block too slow, watching as it starts the descent towards her neck- a knife burying itself in the big man’s back as if magicked there. Lunging forwards to smash her forehead into his nose and watching him crumple. The knife thrower running in close as she raised the axe again- hesitating as she sees who it is – and drops it as the thrower throws her arms around her waist, weeping and sobbing into her chest as the rain enveloped both of them.

The other two arrived shortly after, stabilising the barbarians who remained, magically restraining them. The tiger standing guard as they talked to her, talked to the couple. Learned about her not speaking, about how they’d found her. Friends, even though she could not remember their names. Discussing about what could have happened. And then the short one, the gruff fellow approached. She bowed her head for him to clasp it in his hands. And-

Lady Alexandria Gwendolyn Solaria raised her head, a tired smile on her pale, dirt-smeared face. “ took you long enough.”
>>
>>42965558
The nomads were on the hunt for a couple, apparently. The son and daughter of the leaders of two warring clans, running from their families. And when they’d heard of a couple hiding away in the forest-

“That doesn’t explain why they went after the old couple, but hey, they’re not the brightest bunch. Speaking of dumbbells-“ Lise was much more chipper once they were back together, it seemed.
“Are you feeling better, now?”
“Much, thank you.” Alexandria touched her head lightly, feeling the smoother skin. Before her lay the pieces of her armour, the straps cut cleanly through. “I’m going to have to take it back to an armourer to get this refitted.”
“Missing the place?” She looked over at Revadin, remembering how she’d left the teary couple with a hug, a heartfelt embrace and thanks. Gold and old healing items. Precious jewels from Lise. A blessing on the trees to grow swiftly after being cut down, the crops to be healthy for many more years. And even a little gift from Revadin, a little silent image cast into one of the jewels, an image of the paladin flanked by the couple. Each smiling happily, close to each other even in that short time.
“Not really! I’d have been out of my mind if been stuck there too long!” She laughed, the sound an easy calm over the rattle of the wagon.

The wizard’s smile seemed a little more forced. “Ha. Well, I’m glad you’re back with us. Next time, try to remember all the things I’ve been making for you, hey? No point in having them if you’re not going to use them. Oh, Grevel wanted to talk to you, too?” The paladin nodded, and – gently removing Lise’s head from her lap, she moved up front to the druid steering them.
>>
>>42965578
“Well, it didn’t, did it? It’s not like I wanted to stay away from you, from Revy and Lise and you! It was peaceful and calm there, but-“ The girl’s voice cut off as she bit back a whine.

It was a good minute before Grevel spoke again.
“Two things. First, you’re using the playful names for Revadin again. You know he hates that, AND you only use them when you’re being brain-addled again. But you should be clean now, right? You’ve not been taking it, and should have restored yourself up to full, but still you’re acting up.” The wagon jolted as it turned off onto the main road.
“Second. Are you sure you want to stay on this path? –Paladin, drug-addled or not? You looked mighty sad leaving those two behind.”

“Why does everyone think I-“ She raised her voice petulantly-
“Because we’re not blind, lass! It’s written all over your face. And while I'm in charge of this company, I’ll not tolerate fools who are having doubts about what they’re doing!” It was the first time the dwarf had raised her voice to her, and it was enough to make the knight pull back in surprise. He continued, more gently.
“You nearly died because you weren’t thinking straight, Alexandria. And when we came for you, you were happily being yourself a simple girl out in the woods. You don’t have to be a knight, a shining lady in armour to save the weak. You could go back to your family if you want – use their riches to make a better place back in the hinterlands. Not risking your life and limb in the front lines. I don’t want to see your blood spilled either.”

“…It’s a duty. A divine duty, to give up some things to protect others. Even if we could be more comfortable. I can’t give this up, Grevel.” It was a faint smile, a bitter one. “I wouldn’t stop being a knight for the gods for anything, no matter what it takes.”
>>
>>42965599

Grevel nodded. “And the other problem? Not getting your marbles back?”

“…I’ll think of something. –What? Don’t look at me like that. Hey, why are you laughing-”

It was the turn of autumn, and the leaves were falling before the clans going to war.

Really fantastic writing! The back and forth between the party and the old couple was well executed and the emotional depths of all the characters portrayed were really affecting. After that last chapter, I'm somehow imagining this story's "good end" to be Alexandria taking enough Harlot Sweets to become a shining beacon of holiness personified, taking down some BBEG and saving the kingdom but rendering her mental faculties permanently diminished. Having done what they set out to do, she and the party return to the old couple's farm to live out the rest of their lives in peace and obscurity.

Writefags, assemble! What other uses can you use harlot sweets for?
>>
>>42974989
Look, if you want to draw in writefags, you better be able to write something yourself to kick it off. We don't just think stuff straight down onto paper, you know.
>>
>>42972461
No, it's not.

It's one of the rare instances of magical realms catering to your fetish.
>>
>>42974989
Patriarchy/Matriarchy has a very obvious use of prettying up and dumbing down the opposite sex.

Drow females would use it on their male concubines so they were less capable of being up to shenanigans and betraying them.
>>
>>42975652
Trust me, as someone who has that fetish, I can say that this is one of two times I've seen it done in a way that doesn't make me want to puke while dropping trou. It actually focuses on story, characterization and consistency, and it's pretty tasteful at that. I'd say this is done right if it ever has been.
>>42975670
Look, if you take one step further, this is going to involve drow trap sex slaves.
It's your choice.
>>
>>42975652
As a man with a wide and sweeping range of fetishes, iFound the theme wasn't sexualized to the point most fa/tg/uys sexualize anything capable of reaching 200+ posts.

Whereas mostly they are. I was honestly expecting a bit more lewdity, part of me hoping.
>>
>>42975694
I would be unopposed but I'd consider that a fork from the Magical Realm being explored here.

We're in quasi-bimboification territory with the caveat that bimbos aren't high Charisma characters, they're just pretty to look at. Feminization? Eeh, that's a different branch of hypno. And the mind altering here is drug not hypno related, not to say feminization drugs aren't a fetish or something like that.

>I was honestly expecting a bit more lewdity, part of me hoping.
I'll admit to still hoping for the "she becomes an unintentional but extreme cocktease" bit, but I'd be fine without it
>>
>>42975694
>>42975670
>traps
Why? When you think of persuasive dumb males with charisma, you don't suddenly jump to shy feminine traps, you go to big jocks and athletes.
>>
>>42975734
Yeah, it still works WITHOUT the sex bit. That's what un-realms it, for me.

I'm definitely going to write a fic about Drow trap sex slaves force fed Harlot Sweets now.
>>
>>42975760
Yeah, I was saying it was possible not the direct progression.

I think the point is you've got them mentally vulnerable, and Harlot Sweets don't bulk you up so presumably besides making you easier to talk to they turn you a bit effay.
>>
>>42975783
Drow breed for strength and attempted loyalty (while fucking up on that part). They want big brawny men (fighters) to use as meat shields without magic power but with dicks in the forever magical realm of thought of caster supremacy.

You want a look at drow society influenced by this? Imagine a magical drow thigh-high boot, stamping these sweets into a fighter drow's face, forever.
>>
>>42974989
Infiltrate the swanky club of a villainous organization as a vapid pretty face.

It was at the tail end of the defeat of the lich that the group had decided to take some time off. Relaxing back in their home city hub. Each of them ragged, hurt after they had defied powerful magics in the castle of the undead. Each content in ridding the world of an evil force. An affable but ultimately merciless evil, who had seemed to welcome his own demise. And now with him gone – and his own riches in their pocket – they could rest for a while.

“So THEN he tries to tell us that he hid his phylactery in a grain of sand, under an ocean in another dimension, but he kept glancing to the jewellery in our rogue’s hand. And of course, when Lady Solaria searched for evil presences, the jewellery was the exact same shade of darkness as him. Pretty silly, wasn’t it?” At the inn, quite a crowd had gathered around Revadin, listening intently to the long winded tale. Alexandria had watched it for a while with a happy smile as Lise sat down besides her with a drink. “Feel better about things?”
“Much, thank you. Dealing with someone like that cleared my mind a bit. And it’s nice to just, like, relax with friends. Heehee..”
“Woah, girl. Are you drunk already?” The rogue helped steady Alexandria’s drink, which sloshed to the side.
“’S not even wine!”
“Whatever you say, Sir Sobriety. Wanna go upstairs and, um, take a break?”
After a moment or two, she nodded, downing the rest of the glass in one go. “Feeling.. bit tired.”

Grevel watched them leave, but said nothing.
>>
>>42977289
When the mental alarm for their rooms went off, Revadin was not surprised. It was a minor distraction from the party when he heard their voices talking together. The cheer of the inn and the drink slowed him from simply muting the noise, dispelling the ward.
“-Was really afraid that you had just suddenly vanished forever. So when we found you again…”
“I’m still here. It’s fine! What, you really were worried about me?”
“…I was. Don’t tell Revadin about it, or he’ll never let me live it down.” A cheer as the elf offered a drink on him to the bar patrons below, absentmindedly slapping down a handful of gold on the counter.

“But never mind about that stuffy wizard! Come cuddle with me on the bed!”
The creak of bedsprings and giggle above made him look up, still sipping from his own aged ale.
“My darling Gwendolyn, so sweet and silly… Always so much better than me, making us think up to your high standards… but that’s why we love you, isn’t it?”
“I’m not better than you, dummy! I just-hyau-! That’s ti-hahaha, that tickles!”
“Oh, I’ll do more than tickle!”

Revadin had slammed his mug down and frozen in place, simply concentrated on the voices, the out of breath panting. Some of the closer partygoers had backed away for some reason, but that barely registered in his mind. As he listened to the laughs turn to a happy murmer, as the panting and rustling sounds intensified.

“I- hahah, hee.. where are you trying to- ok, that’s enough. What are you doing?”
“We’re just playing. That’s all. Just lie back, and let me take care of you…”
It’s only then that he started for the stairs, shaking his sleeves free.
>>
>>42977316
“I think, mm. I think we should just cuddle- cut that out?” A wet sound, a kiss, perhaps? Something else? He pushed past Grevel as the dwarf tried to call out to him – something about Alex being able to take care of herself-
“It’s just.. mm.. friendship. It’s not even breaking the rules. Don’t you feel that?”
“No, and stop it.”

Bounding up the stairs two at a time. Already preparing an incantation of painful incapacitation.

“Hey, that’s more like it, though you should be grabbing elsewhere-“
“I said STOP IT.”

He burst through the door, finger jabbing towards the couple on the bed. Dragging his finger up, biting back the words of spell completion as he saw Alexandria pinning down the mostly naked Lise by the arms, both freezing as they see the elf in the doorway.

“Hey-! Where do you get off, busting in like this-“ The smaller girl squeaked as he cut the rogue in dishabille off, the effervescing halo of light still dancing round his fingertips.
“What do YOU think you’re doing?”

Lise, rather than the paladin who grappled with her, is the more surprised one, managing just about to hook her top in her hands and throw it over her curvy body. She drew back as Lady Solaria released her, huddling against the wall.

“Making a move on someone I love, unlike certain limp-dicked elves I can name! You had a chance to do something with her, and you just meekly stepped aside! You don’t get a right to say anything if you don’t have the guts to do anything yourself!”
>>
>>42977339
The elf’s lips were red, his scrawny frame heaving. Breathing in, as if to bellow- the Lady’s head switching back and forth between the two, lost between the rapid exchange of words.
His voice escaped in a low hiss.
“You dare- you think I stepped aside because I’m some sort of coward? That I spend an hour every week growing logs*1 instead of trying to seduce this –“ the hand gesture took in all of Alexandria’s shapely form, and he averted his eyes quickly from the blush in her cheeks- “This paragon of beauty? She has an oath of chastity, you selfish thief!”

“A chastity oath of not having pleasure of lying with others, or something stupid like that. Nothing about fingers, or close cuddling-“ This time Lise did jerk back as the wizard blew a hole in the window.

“Yes, a stupid oath of chastity. ‘I vow to relinquish the pleasures of the flesh’, that’s how her mentor explained it to me. She isn’t feeling it. She gave it up to be a holy knight. She doesn’t feel anything if you touch her. She’s only happy because of your presence, not your damn touch!”

The declaration seemed to quiet the girl down. Seeing those red locks shake back and forth in a plea to stop.
“Is it true? Gwinny?”
“Stop it, both of you, stop it, stop it, stop it please-“

*1 Growing logs: Elvish slang for male masturbation. Not to be confused with tending to the midnight flowers, elvish slang for female masturbation.
>>
>>42977367
He hated himself for it. But at that moment he hated her more. He pushed on.
“And what’s worse, you damn bitch, you knew it was wrong. You knew it and you preyed on her just like the Baron with those girls – you knew that she’d never consent normally if she had two brain cells to rub together, so you fucking DRUGGED her into bed! Look at her! You think she’s smart enough to have put two and two together?!”

“W-what? No, I, I didn’t- I wouldn’t have- I’d never have“ Lise’s face was as white as a sheet, horrified as she looked at her would-be-lover’s face. Looking at the uncomprehending struggle to work out the words to make the situation right, to make everyone be friends again. The dim anguish to want to have to fix things and not have to worry about such complications.

Revadin raised his finger at the girl, and the Lady Solaria threw herself in the way, blocking the shot.
“No!” It stopped him for long enough, as Lise jumped at the window, hurling herself through the broken frame. She stopped him again as he ran forwards, catching the elf in her arms, crying as she did so. “No! She didn’t- it wasn’t her!”
“Let go, don’t you realise what she was-“
“It wasn’t her! I took the sweets! I did it to myself!”
“But- what? Why?!”
>>
>>42977386
Then Grevel was there, punching him in the ribs, knocking the breath out of the wizard. Summoning an orb of light up that flitted from side to side.
“For all your smarts, you just had to go and interfere, didn’t ye? Lass! Here’s a sprite, follow it, and it should lead you to her. Get some clothes on first, go after her!”
The Lady without her armour hesitated, struggling to put her clothes back on over the voluptuous form. “But what will I say-“

“You’ll know! If you have the time to spare to spend five minutes to have a brain, that is!”
Following the glowing sprite, then, she vanished from the room.

“And as for you-“ The dwarf was surprisingly strong. Or perhaps not so, when you considered his muscular arms. Certainly strong enough to lift his party member and throw him onto the bed. “Let’s have a little talk, shall we?”

Two more chapters and an epilogue to be written, I think! Possibly a bit much DRAMA and not enough TEASING DUMB PALADIN. But hopefully you're all enjoying the tale!
>>
>>42977469
Berry ice, anon; berry ice indeed.
>>
>>42977469
I'm enjoying the story very much. The tense atmosphere in the room was palpable and be emotions very raw. I'm really interested in seeing what Alexandria's reason was for taking the Sweets when we wasn't in a combat situation, and what she's going to tell Lise given how far they almost went together and how far Revadin almost went. Great use of a long-simmering love triangle. Nice also to see Greval continuing to be the voice of reason here.

Alexandria's use of the sweets and the side effects they're causing are starting to pull the party apart at the seams.

Now something like this might make for an interesting sidequest/filler in a game.

> Party is travelling, spending the night at an old couple's isolated farm in the boonies

> Their daughter is touched by gods, both in the euphemism-for-retarded sense and in being a competent divine caster for no apparent reason

> Father talks to party discreetly later, tells them how they acquired their daughter a year ago by finding her wandering around battered and confused and taking her in, asks them to investigate

> Investigation (or sucessful lore check) identifies daughter as a somewhat famous paladin known for using alchemical augmentations who went MIA (presumed dead) along with her party when a quest went horribly wrong

> Restoring her would be easy, but her friends would still be dead, and her quest still spectaculary bad-ended. She's happy with the couple, and they love her...

> wat do?

Give your party a decent moral conundrum for once. Possibly throw in a significant material reward for restoring her if they aren't torn enough (e.g. her order would offer loot or help if they brought her back).
>>
>>42977991
kind of reminds me of the part of ME3 where you have to pick whether to convince Javik (ancient alien warrior/general who is the last of his kind) to get his memories of one of his most important but darkest battles back or not.

If you tell him to not get his memories back he ends up with a fairly nice ending with an implied romance with Liara (blue space babe) if you didn't romance her but if you convince him to do it then he remembers that each and every one of his men was indoctrinated and he had to slaughter them all, and if you make him remember it then he decides that once the war is over he will go to their graves and kill himself.
>>
>>42940534
It lasts one fucking hour.
>>
>>42978071
And we've already stated that that's one of the few breaks from the rules we're taking. It's not even a major change, just a matter of narrative convenience.
>>
>>42977991
I really like this spin on the scenario. Is it better to keep her impaired but living a peaceful fiction, or should the party bring her back to a reality that will be painful but true?
>>
>>42978071
You can chug ten of them in a minute for an average charisma bonus of +10 dex and +25 charisma, and on average 15 int damage. Heal that up every three rounds with an wondorous item of at will lesser restoration (costs 1,000 GP) and you have goddamn spent 600 gp or possibly 300 if you have an alchemist - for: +17 AC, +12 to all saves as well as well as +5 to reflex due to the dex bonus, 12 fucking extra uses of lay on hands which is equivalent to six positive energy bursts - which run off charisma, so you get ridiculously boosted DCs to resist. All spells get boosted. You get massive amounts of bonus spells.

For one hour. If you get a minute to buff that's a huge amount.

>>42978145
Actually, it's been entirely per the rules as written so far, barring the alarm spell used earlier.
>>
>>42978216
Even better, if you make the at-will lesser restoration item class restricted and skill restricted, it costs less.
>>
>>42978216
Oh, and being able to chug six of the damn things at once. That's against the rules, too, without some very specific feats.
>>
>>42978216
I do believe the rules say you can't stack them, anon.
I believe the line says:
>While taking multiple doses of a drug at once rarely has any benefit
>>
>>42926199

Your fapbait is an existential nightmare. I never would imagine that so many people were secretly masturbating to Flowers for Algernon.
>>
>>42978350
The general rule is that bonuses or penalties from the same source don't stack unless stated otherwise.
>>
>>42978542
No fapping on my end at least. I'm in it for the Flowers for Algernon style story itself, and for the questions and dilemmas it raises, like the one in >>42977991.

>Is ignorance really bliss?
>How much of themselves is a character really willing to risk or sacrifice for power?
>How does a tight-knit group deal with a member willingly abusing magic or impairing themselves.
>How moral or ethical is using or encouraging the use of alchemical augmentations?

These are the sorts of things I think are interesting in this thread.
>>
I'm not certain if we ought to have another thread after this one, provided our writer feels like continuing the story of Paladin Alexandria, but if we do I'd like to suggest that we widen the subject a bit to allow discussion of other low-intelligence characters and ideas in general.

how about next one is "What are good ways to characterize and RP low int characters other than generic 'hurr durr strongman'?"

The sprite was hesitant in tracking. But, she didn’t need it. After a moment or two of centering her mind, Alexandria knew where her friend was going to be.

It took some time to reach the brothel, and the sprite had vanished some time ago. She lit the sunrod at her waist, seeing the way through the dark. Illuminated as she pushed open the door to see all the whores arrayed before her.

“There’s nothing for you here, Knight.” The words were cold to her, the brothel owner she’d seen talk with her friend so often before.
“I’m here to see Lise.” A calm statement, but a statement nonetheless.” She had her sword, her light armour. They knew she wouldn’t use them. She knew she wouldn’t need them.
“You can come when she wants to see you again. Later, maybe. Never, maybe.” Courtesans, some high class, some who had been working the streets. She could see the signs of simpleness in a few of their faces, a dazed, spaced out look that nevertheless was steadfast against her.

She could feel the words to turn them to her side, to persuade and cajole and assuage. To bend the easily swayed minds to her side, and use them to ease the others. Make them all feel they were helping Lise by letting her through. They weren’t needed, either.
“You won’t turn us against her, Lady Solaria. We’re her friends and will stick to her to the end.”
>>
>>42986359
“Yes,” the paladin murmered. “I won’t turn you.” Her hand brushed against her chest, a spark of magic flowing into her body as the less loyal ones hesitated, suddenly doubting the path of the paladin. And then another spell was wrought, and it gave her a moment of – grace – as she charged. Slipping round the crowd of prostitutes, darting between gaps in the blink of an eye. Ducking and weaving and only brushing with the lightest of touches and always moving forwards. Displacing the madame of the sordid place and bursting through the door before she delicately dropped the bars to jam the door shut from the inside. She let them beat on the door, knowing there was only one way up.

The stairs creaked under her presence, as she padded up to the second floor. Where Lise normally stayed when she needed a break. She heard the sobbing, felt the crunch of the paper wrappers on the floor under her feet. Already knowing what she would find when she opened the door to see her friend sitting on the bed, a dozen of the harlot’s sweets in her mouth and swallowing more. It was painful to see her like this, the delicate movements of her hand artful, each lick of her fingers elegant, the way the tears dripped down her cheeks as like shining diamonds catching the light of the heavens. The moon shone through the window, framing the sorrowful maiden in an ethereal glow.
>>
>>42986382
Alexandria moved to her side and scattered the remainder of the sweets to the floor out of reach, catching her friend in her arms as she tried to recover them. She pulled the ring Revadin had given her some months back – the little trinket to keep the drugs from overdosing her, slipped it onto one of Lise’s slender fingers. Already the sweet’s casual mind torment had started, as the heartbroken rogue focused her efforts on speech.

“Why did you come? You must think me pathetic, a selfish, abusive sinful girl-“ The words started to pour out – recriminations and white-yellow powder from shattered tablets, alchemical material spilling loose. It was hard not to just squeeze her into Alex’s arms.
“No,” stated the knight. Keeping her from running. Keeping her from getting away. “I think you’re my friend.”

“I would never – I couldn’t ever have ever even thought of drugging you… you know that, right? I.. I’d die rather than hurt you. I- I love you. Always loved you. And now y- you think I’d do something like that-”
They cut into her soul, those simple phrases said freely without thought, spoken from the heart. Mournful wide eyes, her smaller form curled in close to Alex’s body. Just ripe to be held and loved and to hell with the rest of the world.

“I know you wouldn’t.” A gentle reply, a delicate touch to brush back the inky black hair of the thief. “That was.. I took the sweets. It wasn’t you. Revadin – he was mistaken. He wouldn’t have accused you, if he knew.”

“You? But why? But why…”
>>
>>42986408
Another bout of sobbing, testing the paladin once again. Would it truly be so bad to give up her duty to everyone else, when there was someone here who she could save, someone who she could make right, make happy? Every moment as the drug was metabolized was an echo of the beauty she herself was known to wield. A cruel reflection, in the eyes of someone who had seen her in the midst of this power, this unearthly image. It was no wonder that Lise’s heart was twisted so.

Lise was the one to break the silence. Questions, one, then another in melody of words as she was softly held.

“Do you love him?”
“Yes. As a friend. And you, as a friend.”
“As a- as- just that-!” She wanted to cry now, too. Share the tears with her. Share the pain, share the love that she could feel radiating off her.
“i took these, the sweets. they have them at the whorehouse to make people love them. and i thought if i took enough of them that you would change your mind and that you’d be able to love me. even though you already wouldn’t do. i knew and i did it anyway i took so many and you came like i knew you would and they’d make you love me and make you choose between your god and me and that’s wrong and he was right about me being evil after all-“

The wide teary eyes stared up into Alex’s, catching her in their entrancing gaze.
“if i were to take all of these that i could and more so that i was the most beautiful would it work? would it make you love me? would you love me?” A forlorn hope. A wish of one in torment, searching for salvation in the midst of faustian bargains. It was with a heavy heart that the knight forced herself to answer.
>>
>>42986424
“I don’t know. Maybe.” She watched Lise stiffen, disbelieving, afraid even of this answer, that her desire might be in grasp. Watched Lise curse herself for wanting her friend in such a base way, for being able to even consider such a manipulation. Twisting upon the fact that it might just work.
“But what I do know, is any love like that?” A bitter smile on the paladin’s lips. “It’d only last an hour.”

She watched the fallen angel’s form as its brows crease, those perfect eyes in cogitation of the answer given. The slow agony of understanding, the terrible truth that that false love would be only a moment in time. The way she shudders in despair, in thankfulness, in bittersweet knowledge that this dark method would never have borne fruit. The words jumble together as she cries out the single thing that she can think of.
“i love you. i love you. i love you. i love you. love you i love you i do love you i love you really love you i i- i-“
Precisely when it turned into an uncomprehending babble, Alexandria could not tell. She cradled the dark haired angel in a protective embrace, the eyes wide and innocent and suffering. Let the tears flow freely as she too wept, cried out all the sorrow in her for what she could not do, could not give up. Until the one who loved her was asleep in her arms.

She held her until - as if a miracle in reverse - the heavenly angel transformed into a plain faced girl, short, dark, matted hair and slightly plump body. A slack-jawed, dim expression on Lise’s tear-stained face as she slumbered.

And then the knight set to work.

I don't know.

I still feel a good deal of sympathy for Lise personally, which isn't to say that I think what she did in this chapter was mature or right. She's made some big, ugly mistakes here, but those mistakes were born of a broken heart. Lise has fallen deeply in love with a woman who has taken holy vows preventing her from ever being able to return that love in the ways the rogue so desperately wants and needs it.

I guess that while I can't condone all that Lise has done, I can understand why she did it and pity her for the emotional situation she's in.
>>
>>42993006
Oh I can see why she did it, I just think she should have known better, which is to say nothing about the actual methods she used to try and woo her. She pretty much cocked up everything about her attempt, and the entire party is worse off for it now. Find it easier to empathize with the elf personally, given how this whole thing played out.
>>
>>42993006
Not him but I find her actions understandable, if still wrong
>>
>>42993062
You're analysis of the current brouhaha is right on and I certainly don't disagree. Lise really ought to have known better and done things much differently.

It's interesting to see the ways in which the people on both sides of this little love triangle have handled things and acted in accordance with the way our writer has characterized them over the course of the story. From the beginning, Lise has been emotional, proactive and passionate while Revadin has been intellectual, reactive and stoic, and these traits are all well-used in this last chapter.

I'm very curious as to what our Knight "set to work" on.

About half of it is sort of smut, there's some some humour stuff, 40K fanfiction, one moderately terrible completed/abandoned quest...

Actually, a fair amount of smut with drama involved. And disturbing mental changes with protagonists. Hm.

I'll try to collate something after I get this tale finished!

>>
>>42926199
Wouldn't the intelegence penalties just kill the paladin?
>>
>>43006092
I think only con damage can kill someone, rest just knocks them out
>>
>>43006123
But the int penalty would just make them a vegetable, at that point you're litteraly just a drooling fuck doll.
I guess that is what I was trying to get at.
>>
>>42926199
She should take a dip in one of the Incarnum classes. There's a soulmeld that reduces ability damage.
>>
>>43006152
>For every 2 points of damage you take to a single ability, apply a –1 penalty to skills and statistics listed with the relevant ability. If the amount of ability damage you have taken equals or exceeds your ability score, you immediately fall unconscious until the damage is less than your ability score. The only exception to this is your Constitution score. If the damage to your Constitution is equal to or greater than your Constitution score, you die. Unless otherwise noted, damage to your ability scores is healed at the rate of 1 per day to each ability score that has been damaged. Ability damage can be healed through the use of spells, such as lesser restoration.

Note: you heal the damage at 1 per day.
>>
>>43006209
That doesn't kill you that is true.
But that leads to a problem of being completely useless for 6 to 7 days if no one has acess to a restoration spell.
Because you are considered to be too stupid to anything but just beat the crap of something.
So essentially the way this can work is NOT shovel a shitload of sweets into your mouth. (Which I hope she is not that stupid.)
>>
>>43006400
Paladins have lesser restoration at level 4, and when you have the bonus charisma you get bonus spells, which you can then burn at some point to restore the damage you did to yourself.

Alternately, a wondorous item of at will lesser restoration costs 1,000 GP for a paladin created one.
>>
>>43006496
But here's the thing, you have to watch out for how low your int Stat gets, because as soon as it hits bellow 6int, you have a some problems communicating with people. So good luck trying to cast spells with vocal comands.
I do not have an argument for paying for someone else.
It's just if a paladin cannot cast spells. Then it's gonna be a problem if you can't speak too well. So is effective?
>>
>>43007062
>because as soon as it hits bellow 6int, you have a some problems communicating with people.
By RAW you only run into problems when under 3, as that's the minimum INT for humanoids (even counting racial stat penalties, so even if you roll a 3 and INT is your dump stat you will have an INT of 3) and too low to understand speech

One thing of note though, is that by RAW, an INT under 3 doesn't cause problems with spell casting, so she can still bleat out verbal components for some reason

I feel like this is something g that could work at higher levels,
I wasn't here when this whole thing started so what was her base level, and why a paladin when a sorcerer or a bard would make a little bit more sense.
>>
>>43007692
>why a paladin when a sorcerer or a bard would make a little bit more sense.
Because /tg/ despises paladins and will take any chance they can to further pervert the very concept through le ebin deconstructions like some kinda first year liberal arts student.

>>43007692
>I wasn't here when this whole thing started so what was her base level, and why a paladin when a sorcerer or a bard would make a little bit more sense.
Didn't really think what her base level was ever mentioned, but the original idea was an innocent and good natured ladyknight who despite getting rather bimboish, remained pure and at most caused a lot of inocent cockteasing

Is there a particular reason you have to naysay? You're one of those guys, aren't you.

Always naysaying!

I forgot where I was going with this, but I had fun in this thread with something I didn't expect. Do you have to be the person at the table who goes out of his way to undermine other people having fun or enjoying something.

"Yeah, but the book was better than the movie,"
"We really shouldn't have won that fight, it was only a few lucky rolls,"
"Maybe if you'd watched the original and not the dub,"

On every board. Almost every thread, that guy who doesn't offer specific criticism and just uses reductive generalizations to be dismissive. Bringing everyone down, because if you can't be happy no one can.

Well, good sir, to you I henceforth say good day. I shall no longer dally on your belligerence or your sour attempts to suck up any ounce of cheer that may enter the room. GOOD DAY!

Not him, but I was generally willing to make a character that was viable.

Yes, and then we got a functioning character concept and a decent story around it.

Harlot sweets cause drug addiction, which is treated as a disease, and paladins are immune to diseases. Everyone else will suffer cumulative negative effects on lots of ability scores after taking it for a while. And paladins get the most out of charisma boosts.

Sunlight through the window brought an awakening to the recumbent rogue. She stirred, feeling the warmth of her companion by her side, the larger body pressed tightly against herself. Listening to the Rumbling purr as the other slumbered.

Lise didn’t deserve it. The little pieces of memory trickled back into her patchy mind, a slow absorption of what had happened, what it meant. Calmer now but still grieving over her actions, what she’d nearly done, what she had in fact done. She had to leave. Had to get away. The same urge to flee from last night clawed at conscience while her body remained snug against the bulk, the powerful, muscular form besides her. But couldn’t she just lay here against this fluffy belly for a moment or two more?

She didn’t quite understand what was happening, even after she opened her eyes to see the striped fur. Only when the giant tiger leaned down to lick her face did it click, and to her credit she didn’t even scream.
>>
>>43008510
It was the aftereffects of the sweets, the rogue presumed. As she tried to remove the manacle leashing her to the tiger, cursing quietly as she tried to remember how to pick a lock without tools, or in fact where her tools had gone.

“I’ll let you out once you promise not to run away,” Gwyn said.
Lady Alexandria Gwendolyn Solaria stood at the door, holding a mug of something hot and a sandwich on a wooden plate. “Go tidy yourself up, have a bite to eat. When you’re ready, come downstairs to talk, ok? And don’t run away. I asked Tiger to pounce on you if you managed to get free.”

Some time later, Lise made her descent – the chains trailing along the floor as the tiger followed her down. The laughter made her pause at the door.
The party was at the dining table, round remnants of food growing cold over a candle heater. They’d set some aside for her, she noted detachedly. Not all smiles now, either. Not from Revadin. Not from – well, you could never really tell what was behind Grevel’s bushy red beard and moustache. And Gwen-

Of course she was smiling. If her heart could have both sank and leapt at the same time, it would have. “Will you run away again?” the paladin asked, taking her hand. Lise shook her head mutely as she sat down, and Gwen dropped her lockpick set in her hand.

“I’m sorry that-“
>>

>>43008451
Stop feeding the fucking troll
>>
>>43008539
A harrumph from Grevel interrupted. He’d traced out some sort of runes in the table in front of him, his hand idly tracing over the magical script. “Ahem. Order of things to discuss today; stupid things or embarrassing we’ve done recently. Revadin, you start.”

The elf didn’t look too happy about being singled out, but spoke anyway. Dressed in his casual robes, his blonde hair mussed up, he looked as though he had just got out of bed.
“Yesterday, I barged into my teammate’s rooms because I thought something bad was happening. This was bad. I should have trusted my teammates to not act like children, and be able to rationally talk things through.” He had a sing-song tone of voice, as if something practiced. “I should have trusted Alex to be able to shrug off Lise’s come ons if she wanted to, to have physically stopped her if things got out of hand. I should have trusted Lise not to have done something like drugged the one who loved her – someone who I’ve trusted my life to so many fucking times and who still would trust my life to.”

“I should have relied on Lady Solaria to just talk, to explain things. And-“ Here, the elf closed his eyes a moment. “I should have let her decide if she suddenly did want to throw away her vow of chastity, if she did want to give things up. Not take matters into my own hand and barge in to jump to false conclusions and make everything so much worse. There!” The last words flowed out all together, as if expelling a caustic gasp from corrupted lungs. It all seemed so petty, so small compared to what Lise had done.

“And?” asked Grevel.
“And I should have listened to the leader of our little group instead of pushing my way onto an intimate scene.”
“Not that. The other thing.”
>>
>>43008566
“You’re going to force me to say it, aren’t you. You ass.” Again, a pause from the mage. “I hired some hookers.”

The silence was a hollow thing.

“I’ve been hiring hookers and and cast illusions on them to make them look like Alex when I fucked them.”

More silence. The wizard fidgeted under the gaze of all three as he dug deeper.

“I gave them some of extra harlot’s sweets to them – with carefully regulated dosage – and that’s how I’ve been entertaining myself, ok?”

Lise managed to get out a few words, poking the wound. “I’m sure they would have told me if they-

“I paid extra to change their memories. Removed my face, made them forget the illusion spells. With the madame’s permission. Paid even more for the addiction removal at the temple afterwards. They were well compensated. No lasting harm.” At last, he slumped back in his seat. “And that’s the long and short of it. Anything to say about that? More cracks about my sexual habits?” It was the perfect place for a cutting remark, but somehow the rogue couldn’t bring herself to do so.

“I’m… flattered, but…” The shapely beauty on the other side of the table was blushing, a glowing pink in her cheeks. She averted her eyes from the wizard, gaze flicking to and from him, each time blushing a bit more. “…Those girls. It’s not a mistreatment to. Uh. I’m fine with my image, but.” The table seemed to be so very interesting to her all of a sudden.

“It’s no worse than anything else that they’re asked to do regularly,” Lise murmured tiredly. “They go through a lot, though they know how to look after themselves. It’s a bit screwy, but...” She shrugged.

“If Lise thinks it’s ok, then it’s ok. The brothel pays its taxes. Nothing wrong in everyone consenting. It’s just that-“

“How is it OK? This should be weirding you out! It makes me feel uncomfortable, how are you OK with it?!”

“If you wanted to see my naked body, you could always just ask?”

Revadin sunk lower in his seat. Pulled a small cap with a feather in it out, dropped it over his face.
“Mercy, please. I don’t want to grow an entire forest*2 every night.”

Another harrumph cuts in as Grevel lays his hands on the table. “Right! You’ve laid yer sins out and no-one’s bothered too much about them. On to you, Lise.”

As Alexandria found her hand once more, the rogue began to speak of last night. Telling them of how she’d been afraid that she’d lose her love, how she’d tried to bed her. About her running away instead of facing her, of trying to once more shamefully seduce her. And how terrible it made her, how wretched.

“How tortured, how horrific, how unspeakably appalling, yes yes. You’re terrible and oh so melodramatic. Do you want to be forgiven by her, or just run away and never see her again?”
The foppish tones of Revadin cut through the bitter words. The question catching her off guard.

“No. Yes. I mean, I- I-“

“Lady Solaire, please could you hit her with another restoration? She’s clearly still not got all her senses back.”

The touch of her hand was warm, soothing - blowing away a fog of warm haze from her mind. Even then the pain of what was there still burned, but the thoughts about it were clearer. On her wrist where she had been mindlessly digging her lockpick, the manacle suddenly popped open.

*2 Slang for your hands getting tired due to too much*1
>>
>>43008619
“I don’t want to go.” Such a small voice. “I.. I hate myself for it, but I couldn’t leave her.”

“And do you forgive-“

“Of course I do.” Another squeeze on her hand, and though without magic, it soothed her more than the divine touch ever could.

“I did such horrible things-“

“And you had that ass and breasts wiggling about in front of you all the time, of course you did something like that.” Revadin hadn’t moved his hands away from his head, the voice muffled under the hat. “I mean, look at her. I’d be arrested for indecency if I tried describing her like I would want to. And she’s just too damn good! By the trees in heaven, of course she’d forgive you, and smile while doing it! She’s a paragon of a paladin, being so much sickeningly better than you or me it’s disgusting! You’re madly in love with her and she’s devoted to giving her life to saving people so it wasn’t going to be a problem to begin with. You’ve even got to hear what sordid things I do. So please, get over yourself and get back to your normal bitch attitude instead of this lovestruck idiocy. Oh gods, she’s staring at me, isn’t she.”

“…Staring and blushing, you loveable fart.” And though Lise still felt the weight of her sins upon her, as she watched the wizard slouch even lower in his seat the whole matter suddenly felt silly.
>>
>>42926199
>Gwyndolyn Solaire
Seriously? I thought /tg/ was supposed to be creative.
>>
>>43008654
“So Revadin has spoken. Lise’s said her piece. Both have been forgiven. What about you, Miss Knight? Miss barely said anything despite being the centre of this whole mess?” The dwarf turned the interrogation on the Lady.

“I’ve been taking the sweets during the nights,” she said. “I’ve not been wiping away all the damage it’s been doing to my mind.”

It had been a simple thing, she told them, to just let slip the restorations before the hour was up. To just do one, perhaps two if necessary, instead of emptying all the magic she had into fixing herself. Letting the chewy sweets dull her brain. Sweep her in that warm fog that lets her be giggly, carefree. Let her act as she wanted, carefree. And she already used them for battle – why not at other times, too? To give herself a boost to smile a bit more luxuriantly to the innkeeper who always kept their rooms clear, gave them extra food. To let the world see her shining a bit more brightly, as that simple way to see the world returned. Because-

The knight had run dry of words. Gesturing trying to find the right thing to say. Even with all her faculties she was lost before her friends.

“Why make yourself less intelligent, lass?” The question was on each of their lips.

“Because,” the answer finally clicked in place. “Who wants to think about who gets to live and who gets to die?”

Paladins had to make the hard choices. Who to save. Who to kill. Was there a better way. Second-guessing yourself. Wondering if the person you chose to spare instead of smite would do worse. If the person you smote instead of saved could have been redeemed. Cutting down soldiers working for evil men – killing orcs who had decided to do harm to try to save their families.
>>
>>43008681
“I thought, with such great power that just these little drugs gave me, I wouldn’t need to such things. That I could fight and spare people without risking your lives. They weren’t that strong. So I thought I could – I could offload that burden upon you. Make you decide for me, put their lives in your hands instead of mine. And be able to forget about it all afterwards, not need to see others every night, thinking of how I could have done better. I could just let myself go and be a simple girl without need for thought.”
Alexandria’s voice was wobbling. “It just seemed so easy. Tell myself I was making you better people. I-“
Something inside of her cracked and broke.
“I was running away from my duties.”
She wiped tears from her beautiful face, brushing back the red hair.
“If someone had died who shouldn’t have because I foisted the judgement to you, it would have been my fault. I should have not. I shouldn’t have let this get so far. I’d failed my god. I failed you.” She was lost, admitting how what she’d done wrong. And it felt so cold, as though cut off from everything good she’d done. Frozen in place.

“So are you going to try to fix it?” Grevel never did know when to leave enough alone.
“-Of course. If you make me see something like that I can’t do anything else but try to fix it, can I? I won’t take the drugs again. I can’t let you take things in hand like that.” It was a numbing sensation, one that hurt her to the core.

“That won’t do. We need the edge in the fights. –But nevermind about all that. You want to fix the problem, right?” Once again he stared into her eyes.

“That’s what I just said!”

“Good enough,” he uttered, and flicked her in the shoulder,

And the heat came rushing back to her as the room filled with light.
>>
>>43008700
“What just happened?” Lise had started up from the table, dagger half drawn from the bloom of magic still abating.

“Nothing. Be glad it didn’t cost two and a half thousand gold. And be glad that drugs count under compulsion. Look, ye do so much better at saving people with the effect of those things it’s still better to use them.”

Revadin was staring at the dwarf, at the suddenly inert runes. “Were you seriously this whole time casting atone-“

“Shut up, you plonker. Lass, you’ll take that alchemical effect and like it.”
“But I just told you, I need to think for myself what sort of judgement-“

“Ye be quiet too! Give them to her, Revadin.” At the druid’s command, he wordlessly pulled out two matching armbands. They glittered with magics; one a plain white ivory band round it, the other encrusted with orange gems that looked suspiciously like-
“Harlot sweets. Is this-“ Alexandria looked to Grevel who nodded in reply to the unspoken question.
“That there gives you the constant effect of the stupid thing all the time. Be as pretty as you please! It’ll mess up your mind too, bit by bit. Which is why,” he cut off her objection before it started. “You need that too. On demand restoration. Use it every hour, you’ll keep your intelligence up to scratch. Wow! So difficult! Ye get to be beautiful and graceful and full of power without even having to worry about your mind vanishing! Isn’t that great?” A magnanimous gesture from the druid as he passed the items to her. “They’re low level magical effects that last for hours, it wasn’t even very expensive!”

So she took them. Put them on, felt the clouds of fog across her mind, washed them away with a touch of the pure white bracelet. All the beauty and poise she could dream about and no problem. She could just bear that cross. She was a paladin, after all. It was nice while it lasted, but that was that. Goodbye, the simple-minded girl she could retreat into-
>>
>>43008742
“And while you still have to think when you’re in a fight, there’s nothing that says you can’t just relax, and… take a load off your mind when you’re camping, or sleeping. Just as long as you’re able to think before a battle, ok?” Grevel finished his spiel.

“You mean, I can just- I can let myself drift away?” The anguish on her face washed away with her tears as she reached over the table to embrace the dwarf, almost spilling the remainder of the food.

“Hey! Don’t I get any thanks for making these th-oof!” Another hug for Revadin. The silly little grin of an innocent girl on Alex’s face again. A wondrous knight in shining armour once again. “Thank you! Thank you, thank you both so much!”

“Wait, that’s it?” Lise stared incredulously. “Magic items solve all the problems, that’s it?”

“Magic items AND lots of talking things through. If people just tried talking first like I wanted things to happen, none of this sappy things would be needed. Now finally, can we get back to being a proper adventurin’ party instead of a bunch of adolescents? Gods above, it’s like herding children!”

“Not yet!” The accusative finger of the rogue pointed finally dead on Grevel. “You, you never told us about your own embarrassing things!”

“Lass, I just want to get back to fighting monsters. But sure! What would you like to hear? The time I tried to make Tiger a vegetarian?” Outside, the giant cat started to growl.

“Or the time I married a dragon-“

It was at that point the wall burst in, and the skeletons attacking howled as the party drew their weapons-

To fight as a unified whole once more.

REPORT OF SIR SWAINSON, KNIGHT CAPTAIN

TO THE HIGH MASTERS

The assault of the lich’s revived skeleton troops on the city was swiftly repelled by Lady Solaria and her party, though it seems that their previous estimate of having permanently defeated their foe before was incorrect. Casualties were kept to a minimum thanks to her using the powers of our deity amplified by these simple sweets to defeat their attackers. Plans have been made for mass production of both this and the paired restorative bracelets, though caution has been put forward that only paladins will be wholly protected from the full effects. What ramifications that this cheap benefits that paladins alone can fully benefit from being mass produced is left for your own thoughts.

It seems that the relationship issues have resolved themselves for the moment, though it appears that both Lise and Revadin are constantly flustered at my protégé as they take in turns guiding her every night and caring for her while she remains in a state of blissful simpleness. Her spiritual guide has assured me that ‘there will be enough trees grown and midnight flowers watered that nature will surely be very happy’, which I am not quite sure of the meaning of but assume it can only be good.

Updates from Lady Alexandria Gwendolyn Solaria by letter has become scarce and difficult to understand, but from what I do know from the soft lettered crayon script, is that while she still has to deal with the judgements she makes, she at least has respite. She’s happier now this way. And perhaps, if the use of these new tools against evil can make a lasting change for good, she might eventually be able to leave our service and become that simple girl that she wishes to be.

Regardless of what the future may hold, I know in my heart that they together will have a long and successful adventuring career together.

SIGNED OFF.

Sorry about the delay, everyone! I had to run my actual pathfinder game as well as some other things popping up. That's the end of the tale for these four, or at least as far as I'm willing to go. There's your drama and schlock and so on, and apologies if it felt rushed or otherwise disjointed.
