You are Urist Twelfthbay, the moe personification of Dwarf Fortress, a short, sturdy creature fond of drink and industry, blessed with a grab-bag of oddball abilities (and cursed with a whole host of crippling bugs, glitches, and drawbacks), a dwarf forced into the shape of a small girl from the very beginning (because Gamindustri is a terrible place to live), and...

... and you really, really don't want to get up and face reality right now.

You don't know how long you've been out. The last thing you remember is feeling like you were being torn apart from the inside out. While being disassembled, piece by piece, with each piece still transmitting pain to your already-battered mind. And, on top of that, squeezed into a straw, crushed and elongated, and then exploded out the other end. And-

Anyway, to sum it all up, you were having a pretty shitty time.

After what feels like either a few seconds or eternity, you crack open your eyes and immediately regret it as your senses immediately come under assault. Swirling extradimensional vistas flash by at impossibly high speeds, galaxies and stars all spinning off before your eyes can get a lock on them-

Vertigo clouds your mind and socks you in the stomach, and it's all you can do to avoid vomiting all over yourself. As if that wasn't bad enough, your ears feel like they're stuffed with cotton; after a moment, you realize that it's just a galactic cacophony thundering through your eardrums. It's like there's just- this constant bass thumping, like the universe is home to two drunk giants duking it out with on some titanic scale. With explosions.

You don't even feel like drinking, that's how fucked up you feel right now.

After a few minutes of turning green and making horrible noises in the back of your throat, you manage to lever yourself up to all fours, ignoring your braids swinging and weighing you down, and stare fixedly at the inexplicable ground supporting you. Good, stable dirt. You'll never take striking the goddamned earth for granted, ever again.

... right. Gathering your wits (such as they are), your memory quietly starts filtering back into your brain, as cautiously as dwarves reclaiming a site that may or may not be infested with demons. Clearly, Leanbox's stupidly ominous reality-bending Red Ring of Death kicked in. According to its patron goddess, CPU Green Heart, its purpose was to rip out the dark goddess Arfoire and shunt her between dimensions, like some big beast's immune system purging a particularly bitchy virus.

Mmhmm. You just BET that went just as fucking planned. Goddess or no goddess, you're gonna have some words with CPU Green Heart next time you see that... that big dumb green tit goblin.

You still try to get your bearings, but it's hard to concentrate with how you're sort of stuck between dimensions and are being subjected to forces that no mortal mind was ever meant to handle. The last few moments while you were being discombobulated are still hazy- all you can remember is screaming in pain, being wracked in pain, and hearing Shovel Knight screaming just as loudly as you-

- but there were the hands, desperately reaching out for you.

Estelle, the Dragon Warrior, happy-go-lucky veteran adventurer and your surrogate big sister, if only because she was one of the first to take some sort of interest in you and your filthy dwarven ass; your first friend other than Mojang, and a girl you're still trying to figure out.

Rokko, the Blue Bomber; crippled and closing in on obsolescence, but one of the few adventurers who could understand what your glitchy ass has been through, a stalwart companion, quiet and fighting her fate, yet burning with an inner flame that's positively dwarven.

Blanc, CPU White Heart and the patron goddess of Lowee; combat-damaged and wrecked in some way by the dark goddess Arfoire, exhausted to the point that her trademark berserker rage was gone, but filled with an urgency you didn't comprehend.

And then-

You'd like to say that you /chose/ not to take any of their arms. Hell, you'd LOVE to claim that it was your hard-boiled dwarven honor that made you willingly sacrifice yourself in order to valiantly chase down Arfoire or whatever. Or that you, with your totally sober insight, immediately realized that your friends would be better off keeping an eye on all the shit going down in Gamindustri, and- since the Red Ring of Death affected Leanbox, and Leanbox only- maybe make sure that Arfoire hadn't left behind any nasty surprises in the other nations. And looking back, it could've been a problem if the patron goddess of Lowee was thrown into the fucking abyss, however temporarily.

In reality, you flailed around so much that you completely whiffed. Besides, on the spur of the moment, your pain-wracked brain could only pull up the half-baked reasoning that you... you didn't really want to see your friends dissolve into thin air, or scream in tormented pain. Even though they're all adventurers who'd likely experienced worse things, you really, really wanted to spare them that much- it was bad enough hearing someone as young as Shovel Knight getting torn to shreds, after all you'd put her through.

Yeah, yeah, you know, it's sappy as hell. All this adventuring with pals thing is making you damnably soft. Hell, that's half the reason why you avoided traveling with Mojang.

You brush yourself off and look up at the sky (galaxies? dimensional chaos?). Standing all alone in the middle of goddamned nothingness stretching from here to infinity, you can feel all your half-baked chivalrous feelings fade into an extremely vivid appreciation of how insignificant your shit is in the grand scheme of the universe.

Quietly, you sink back down to your knees, cold sweat trickling down your back. After a moment, you've had all the staring-into-the-void shit that you can handle, and you fall back down on all fours, squeezing your eyes shut, your hands clutching fistfuls of grass. Right now, you... you really could use all the help you could get.

... grass.

Grass?

You lift your head and take a good, close look at the land around you. It's... it's got trees, and grass, and flowers, and shrubs, and rocks, and mountains, and and and and and all that good shit except there's no sky, there's just floating islands everywhere, all beholden to their own stupid laws of gravity that turn your stomach when- okay, screw the damn void, focus on the land.

You sink your hands into the dirt like it's your only lifeline, your eyes widening in surprise. You know this dirt. It's... it's /your/ dirt.

Endinomon, the Enchanted Realm. A giddy giggle escapes your lips, girly enough that you'd normally smash anyone who overhears, but you're beyond caring now. It's your fortress. YOUR fortress; whatever threw you between dimensions apparently counted this as part of yourself.

Your stupid fucking barely-excavated hyperdimensional fortress, the best lifeline you could ever ask for in this Armok-forsaken place.

>[X] [THERAPIST] as a secondary action, since it's comparatively easy to do.

For a few moments, you waffle indecisively between trying to summon minions and building something as soon as dwarvenly possible. Eventually, you're swayed by the prospect of accidentally summoning something horrifying and having nowhere to run; more importantly, you've got your deeply-embedded fort mode instincts.

Rule number one of settling in a high-risk area: get all your dwarves into the safety of a dug-out bunker and set up some way to close the door as soon as possible.

"You have arrived."

Muttering to yourself, you flex your liquid metal gauntlets; in response to your mental command, the strange alloy melts down a *blorp* before reforming around your hands, turning into the all-too familiar shape of mining picks.

"After a journey from the Mountainhomes into the forbidding wilderness beyond, your harsh trek has finally ended."

Your shoulders relax as you begin tunneling through the soft soil with ease. It's good and honest physical labor, and the horrors of the hyperdimensional realm fade to the back of your mind as you hit the zone.

"Your party of one is to make an outpost for the glory of all of Gamindustri. There are almost no supplies left, but with stout labor comes sustenance."

A three-square wide entrance. Showy and maybe not necessary, not right now, but it's been a force of habit for so long that it's done before you even realize it. Well, three-square-wide bridges look good, and it'll avoid you having to deconstruct it later in the unlikely event you want to widen the entrance-

"Whether by bolt, plow or hook, provide for your dwarves. You are expecting a supply caravan just before winter entombs you, but it is Spring now."

Trade depot first...? No, forget that; you seriously doubt there's any prospect of trade up here. For similar reasons, you leave out the stockpile, at least for now. You need this place locked down before you can think about anything else. Come to think of it, you don't know what kind of place this is. You desperately hope the biome hasn't defaulted to evil or something, or-

"Enough time to delve secure lodgings, 'ere the ą͎̺̐͛͌̒̇̾ḅ̳̝̪̮̥̙͌̊̓̍ǒ̲̖̠̳̙͍̝mͤ̽̄̍̎ͭȉ̫͚̥ͭ̈͜n̗̪̯̮͌͊̋͌ȧ̧̯̠̬͑͑ͮͦ̈́̚t̴̺̯̑ͬ͐̊̈́i̺̪̞̲̱̱͕͐͋̐̔ͮ̾̈́͞o͕̣͚̦̫ṋ̙ͯs̶̳͉̲͕̰̼ͯ̅ͧ̍̋̌ ̫̤̼͈ͪ̄̈́f̡̦̝̤̃͌̚r̠̰̖̯̦͌͋ͧ̐́oͨ̚͜m̸̭̘͈̮̬̰͍̂̅̂̏ ̻ͩ̅b̰̈́e̛̘̻͕̮̗̳̎͗y̻ͫo̝̗̰̞̣͆͗͟n̟̮̮̮̈́̌ḏ̳̦̥̾ͨ̇̎̉̾ get hungry."

...

Yeah, that's your cue to fucking WORK FASTER. In record time, you bash a rock into the floor with so much force that it shatters, the fragments instantly pulling themselves together into a Mechanic's Workshop. Mechanisms for the drawbridge, mechanisms for the lever, stones for the bridge itself- maybe it's just your paranoia, but you SWEAR you catch glimpses out of the corner of your eyes, like the swirling void outside is peering down at you, judging your worthiness.

Or maybe just gauging whether or not your soul tastes good.

"A new chapter of dwarven history begins in this place."

Your feet almost catch on the uneven ground, but you regain your balance just before you trip, and your mad dash to the entrance goes off without a hitch. Breath catching in your throat, you hurl your materials to the ground, kick a mechanism so hard that it hurtles in a straight line all the way to the back of your fortress (a lever pops up at the point of impact), and then you just stomp on the rocks and mechanisms until they flatten into something vaguely resembling a rough stone bridge-

"Abidrovos. 'Hyperdimension.'"

Blood pounding in your ears, one last stomp finishes up the bridge, and you howl triumphantly into the uncaring sky.

"STRIKE THE EARTH!"

Feeling almost completely spent, you make your way to the back of the cavern, collapsing in a heap and pulling the lever. After just long enough for you to start worrying that you wired something wrong, the bridge grinds closed, sealing you and your fortress off from the outside world. Void. Whatever.

As your eyes adjust to the dark, a wave of relief threatens to pull you under. It's done. You've got a safe zone all to your own, and it feels damn good.

Once you catch your breath, you idly activate Therapist and try to see what's what.

... and you expel the remainder of your breath in a groan. It's just a jumble of c̘̮̘̲̳̕o̻͚̖̜ͅr͓̝̟r̷͕̭̜̦̘͔͉up͓̱͕͔͓t̷͙͈͙͈e̖d͙̜̖̹̯͍ ͕͕̘͎̫̝̥t̳̳̬̣̮͚̹ex̡̮̤̜̞̟̺͔t͏̬͇̝̬̞̝̘.̢͖̰. You're not sure why you expected anything different, of COURSE there would be nothing but-

You pause, tilting your head. You're hearing bits and pieces of someone's voice, clear enough to even drown out the ever-present BOOMing and THWOMPing that seem to permeate the entire galaxy. It sounds vaguely familiar, but whatever it is, you're not even sure if it's directed toward you, or if it works under the rules you'd come to take for granted back in Gamindustri.

You frown thoughtfully, scratching a cheek. If... if you tried, you might be able to triangulate where that voice is coming from. On the other hand, that means leaving the safety of your burrow- er, fort. On the other OTHER hand, there's not much you can do to improve your situation. You barely have any shit on you at the moment: no seeds, no materials outside of stone, no nothing. All you have is that [Medkit], some strange [Key Fragments], and your booze.

You really, really, really hope that Mojang wasn't caught up in all this bullshit.

Eh, she shouts stuff like 'it was inevitable' while fighting. Makes sense she'd mutter the introductory text of fortress mode when beginning a fortress.

Oh absolutely. But it would be hilarious and I do hope they appear at some point.

A part of me came into this thread with this weird, in between dimension as a chance of somehow meeting at least one.

I don't put much into it happening though

I like side-scrollers. A lot.

But really, that depends on a lot of factors:

... shit.

You lie back down, bumping the back of your head against the floor. As much as you'd like to turtle up and ignore the outside world forever, you'll get abso-fucking-lutely nowhere. That's the sort of ironclad common sense that even you can't deny. Sure, you've known fortresses that've thrown that aside in search of a bigger challenge, but in a situation like this-

You unscrew the top of your flask and guzzle down the last few drops of your super mushroom wine; far from comforting you, it only serves to remind you that you're running critically low on /everything/. You might even be forced to build an outdoors garden, for crying out loud- and that's only if hyperdimensional weather doesn't prove fatal to crops or some shit like that.

Minutes later, you've lowered the drawbridge, and after failing to get torn apart by any abominations from the great beyond, you start walking with a hand to your temple. Whatever's wrong with Therapist, there's still enough of a signal to lock onto the voice, so you've got a general direction-

... you pause, glancing back over your shoulder at the cheerfully yawning maw of your underground bunker, and screwing up your face. Dammit. Can't close the damn fortress from the outside, and you're not entirely convinced that it's /wise/ to leave it open. Last thing you want is to invite someone back to your humble abode, only to find it infested with goblins (FROM SPAAAACE) or demons (FROM SPAAAACE).

[ ] [TEMPORARY BLOCK] Wall off the entrance to your bunker for now. You can always deconstruct that shit when you get back- or should be able to, anyway.
[ ] [SUMMON MINIONS] Your dwarves can seal and unseal the drawbridge, and watch the fort while you're out! Assuming that, uh, they're okay, of course.
[ ] [LEAVE IT] The voice you're tracking in Therapist isn't that far away, and you shouldn't be gone long. Besides, there's literally nothing worth taking from your fortress.

I really just showed up with barely any prior knowledge of this specific quest. I am an avid DF fan, but I merely half-understand what you mean by EXE drives and it's nearly certain Urist would probably have unique abilities (if that's a thing in the quest). I'll need a bit to read through the thing and draw up possible avenues to take in regards to characterization and other gimmicks.

no, the problem is that EVERYONE has unique abilities, and vetting it all out is impossible in first person.

>>42987793
So the first one is a requirement if you have a char select anywhere.

But if you're speaking as an avid DF fan, I'm not sure if either really works. It might be better to go turn/tick based with very, very complicated attack mechanics with tons of options.

I don't really know what you mean by that.

If it's sidescroller, it'll probably end up like the new smash bros where you pick a set of abilities to use. Abilities are distinguished by range, power, recovery time, and flashy sparkles.

If you go with something like FF Tactics, every character is a unique job and there's probably a lot of splash damage going around. Make an AP system so that moving decreases the number of attacks you can do, but staying still is bad because there are a lot of attacks that happen over time, and the really strong ones have chargeup time.

And if it's flat turn based jrpg, the only way to distinguish it is to add DF rules to the basic attacks and wounding system.

>[X] [SUMMON MINIONS]

Of course, there's the logical explanation for what you're planning to do: you don't know how hostile this realm is, and you don't want to come back to a bunker invaded by monsters. But it runs deeper than that. Leaving any fort unmanned, no matter how small, feels far too much like abandoning the damn thing. Whether because it's become too hard or laggy, or because there's nothing else left to do, it's a flat-out admission that you're giving up.

Maybe it's your pride as a dwarf, but you at least have to /try/.

You swivel on your heel. You thumb your nose and glare at the outpost you've scratched out of dirt and rock- well, it's more like you're glaring at the realm in general, but staring at the void would just make you throw up.

Fine. Let's see how this shit goes.

Or maybe we get an inanimate object instilled with the mind of s depressed dwarf with some sort of horrible miasma.

It can't flip switches or do anything, because it's a nightstand or something, and just reminds us in Therapist how horrible we are all the time, and we can't bring ourselves to destroy it.

I just really wanted a little minion that had to roll for every order or else it would be interrupted by breaking down in tears that it wasn't a dwarf.

You can tell, right off the bat, that you fucked up.

Doesn't take a goddamn genius to figure this out. Normally... well, when you concentrate and summon minions, it's just a straight shot from the center of your being, through the palm of your hand, and to a spot on the ground. Here, you can /feel/ the summoning energies (or mana, or coding, or however Gamindustri works) twisting through the core of your being, undulating like an angry serpent and almost forcing you to double over-

You choke on your own spit and desperately try to flick your wrist. With any luck, it'll cancel the summon, and... you are absolutely not surprised when it /hastens/ the summon instead. Right. Yeah. Why the hell would anything good ever happen to you?

The split-second the summon goes through, you flick your wrists, turning your gauntlets into an axe and shield, because you KNOW that the damn whatever-it-is will end up being hostile. The best you can hope for is a Forgotten Beast, because you KNOW how to deal with those on a case-by-case basis, but if it's an unknown, it-

A blue misshapen thing stands before you, grotesquely lopsided. Hell, "grotesquely lopsided" is the perfect description of the creature, period. The thing's head is gigantic, making its shrunken, wrinkled body look even smaller, and its hooked nose doesn't even look like it's on right; its misshapen eyes are large and almost alien, staring at you with cold calculation, and the smirk on its mouth doesn't help at all.

Almost as if mocking you, the blue demon has a small horned helmet perched on its potato-shaped head, tilted at a rakish angle. And a beard, blue as the sky.

The... the creature isn't scary. It SHOULDN'T be scary, it's like some kid's idea of the monster under the bed, and scrawled into reality with about as much skill as said kid with a crayon. You'll just kill the damn thing and be done with-

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9wjYbJDe6k

The blue demon's lips peel back to reveal serrated fangs and it starts walking towards you, faster and faster and faster and nope nope nope nope NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE NOPE-

Before you even come to a decision, you're shrieking at the top of your lungs and running away from the damn monster as fast as dwarvenly possible, pumping your arms like a champion marathon runner. Trees and shrubs pass by in a blur, and even the dull roar serving as the hyperdimension's ambient noise seems drowned out by the footsteps of the thing behind you and you glance back over your shoulder and IT'S GAINING SO YOU KEEP RUNNING

Endinomon, the Enchanted Realm, ends very suddenly and VERY literally, a ragged edge of normal dirt and stone overhanging the void in its entirety. It almost looks like someone decided that that's as far as this dwarf shit goes, and took a pair of hedge clippers to your realm-

Aaand that's about all you have time to think of before you /jump/ off the edge, hurtling across the void. You can't even gauge how fast you're going, or even WHERE you're going; all the stars and galaxies and weird space clouds spin by at ridiculous speeds, and only by glancing back over your shoulder are you able to tell how far you've come. The blue demon stands at the edge, staring balefully at you, before turning on a heel and trudging back toward your fortress, "Hyperdimension."

After a few moments, just long enough for you to wonder whether you've consigned yourself to a fate of floating through infinity, your feet touch down onto solid ground, almost making you stumble.

R... right. You'll deal with that blue thing later, preferably at range and with enough crossbow bolts to turn an elephant into swiss cheese. First things first. .

You've landed on one of the many weird clumpy "islands" floating through the void. Unlike your own humble realm, there doesn't seem to be one set direction for "gravity"; the ground swells up in hills, plateaus, and overhangs, except the plants don't seem to give a fuck about the ground's orientation and grow in whichever direction they damn well please.

What's more worrisome is the large balls of light flitting through the sky. You hunch down behind a withered tree, cursing to yourself, but the things don't appear to see you. Good thing, too; you're having to count them by the dozens, and you REALLY don't want to get swarmed.

You put a hand to your temple, activating Therapist. Your heart leaps immediately. Throughout all the jumbled, corrupted text, one name stands out clearly- not that you need it, since the voice coming through loud and clear is instantly recognizable, even if it's currently yelling things like "stay away!" and "stop attacking me!" and, more quietly, "t-two sticks left, my durability won't last at this rate..."

Mojang. Her voice doesn't sound to good, either. And judging by the combat logs scrolling down your "screen," she's taking a beating.

Riskier than charging straight into battle?
>>
>>42989708
Well, if we charge headlong into battle, we might die.

If we get her to blow up, and out here it erases her code, we'll have betrayed one of the few people who not only do we care about, but genuinely cares about us.

Yeah, I'd say that's riskier.

is it really that likely? I mean, the abilities that were converted into gamindustri mechanics seem to be wonky, but classic things like crafting and building work fine.

You could say that a PLAYER exploding is unnatural, but respawning is core to them, not that I really remember how Mojang's explosions work in the first place.

>>42989809
She needs to sleep somewhere first. Considering this place, that isn't likely and even if it was, it would probably be near hostiles.

Her respawning requires a bed. Beds don't work across dimensions.

And it's very unlikely that she has had a chance to sleep since coming here.

... y'know, literally anyone else would've hesitated. And you don't mean that in a cowardly sense; you mean, like, stopping to think about shit. Taking the time to weigh the odds and come to a decision, even if it's just over a millisecond- that's the mark of a great adventurer, or a natural-born asskicker, or whatever.

The mark of a great (military) dwarf, however, is someone who runs as fast as she can toward an enemy the moment it becomes visible.

Coming to a decision, you're running across the twisted landscape before you even start /thinking/ about a plan; the only concession to common sense is that you don't howl your usual battle-cries, and that's less due to /actual/ common sense and more because running on this ground is... really fucking tough.

This gravity throws your balance off- you come to a hill and hurl yourself at it, but the "uphill" turns out to be a flat plain and you're doing a somersault to stop yourself from faceplanting. And against all odds, occasional spots of flat terrain suddenly seem to bend into slopes or inclines, throwing you off further-

And there's suddenly no time to worry about that, because you're cresting a "hill" and taking in the scene before you, bathed in the muted, flickering light of the hyperdimensional void. A valley (or a "valley," but fuck gravitational relativity) stretches out as far as the ragged edge of the "land," and as to the number of floating lights...

Well, all the stars in the sky seem to be your goddamn enemies. Yours and Mojang's.

Your longtime friend- your very FIRST friend- has her back to an outcropping of rocks, sheltering under an overhang. A broken wooden bow lies discarded next to her, and there are countless arrows scattered around her; many of them skewer fading lights, a mute testament to her skill with the thing. Panting with exhaustion, the hooded Minecrafter has propped herself up against the wall, a stone sword held out in front of her in an all-too-familiar guard position.

And the reason for THAT becomes abundantly clear; the lights in the air flash, and something about /that/ engulfs Mojang's general area with explosions, chipping away at the rock. Without her bow and arrows, and in her current state, she's a sitting duck against flying enemies.

You don't have this problem.

So far, either through luck or distraction, the will-o'-wisps haven't noticed you in your mad dash. It's a different story when you kick off a tree, soar through the air, and collide with a ball of light, bearing it to the ground and crushing it under your armor-boots. You snarl and squint at the squirming light- there's something small and vaguely humanoid underneath it- before slapping down at the /thing/, liquid metal gauntlet pulverizing your opponent as easily as a butterfly.

Half the lights turn toward you, illuminating your position like some police helicopter's searchlight, but they do absolutely nothing to outshine the radiance of Mojang's unbelieving smile.

"Oneechan!"

You snort, refusing to let your PROPER DWARVEN FROWN curl up into an exasperated grin. Goddammit.

[ ] [OPEN FIRE] Pull out your much-battered crossbow and skewer these lights. Gotta show little sis how it's done.
[ ] [BRUTALIZE] Take down another light and tear it to shreds. Maybe that'll convince these things to back off.
[ ] [CARVE THROUGH] Fight your way to Mojang's side. She can barely stand as it is- can't risk little sis getting more injured.

You've never really taken a good look at how Mojang looks at you. Okay, you KNOW she glows with pride when she talks about you, or when you teach her new things (although there's nothing you CAN teach her, nowadays), or when she thinks back to your supposed acts of badass dwarven heroism, but it's really kind of embarrassing, so you always act grumpier in return, like a knee-jerk reaction. You're a dwarf, dammit, not some touchy-feely little girl filled with interpersonal drama.

But... y'know, you can't look away from that light in her eyes.

You're her big sis. These past few days of non-stop adventuring and almost getting killed and shit happening at a stupidly breakneck pace and having a big sis of your own- that's all branded into your mind just what all this means to Mojang. You've forged an unbreakable bond of friendship with this, this formerly blocky adventurer; she'd also been born in the Gamindustri Graveyard, and also fought all sorts of bugs and glitches and instabilities.

Her peppy optimism sometimes grates on you, yeah. Or how she just straight out /admires/ you and your stupidly buggy ass, even when you're chewing her out for taking too many risks or whatever. Even when you left her behind under the flimsy pretense of letting her carve out her place in the world, she never once changed how she looks at you.

Maybe, just maybe, you're the reason why Mojang grew up to be so optimistic, and why she turned out to be so goddamned happy and peppy.

...

You wish you had an awesome quip ready for Mojang- something like "Don't worry! I have arrived!" or, uh, "Death... how terrifying. FOR THEM!" or something less lame. Instead, you just sort of end up howling your surrogate little sister's name as you slog into the fray. Immediately, the swirling balls of light cluster toward you, circling you from all sides and flanking you and-

>Urist Twelfthbay enters a martial trance!

- and you absolutely do not give a fuck.

Blood rushes to your head, your heartbeat pulses fill your ears, and the world around you slows to a crawl. You don't even stop walking, marching forward as inexorably as lava surging up from an incorrectly dug magma forge. For every step you take, your liquid metal gauntlet lashes out, changing forms with every blow- the will-o-wisp to your left raises its 'hands' to shoot at you, only to begin peeling into neatly-cut halves; the next one up barely begins shifting away before it's smashed into a shower of sparkles, and your backswing cracks against a third, caving it in.

You don't even bother counting your kills after you hit double digits.

'Course, even you aren't fast enough to hit EVERY light, and explosions rain down around you- but you're certainly fast enough to slip by these projectiles, and the only thing grazing your braids is the wind of your passage. You're airborne before you even START thinking about what you're going to do next, and you lazily twist through the air, kicking a will-o'-wisp into its fellows, before spinning back to land on your feet, and find yourself-

- right in front of Mojang, and the world speeds back up again.

For some reason (that you'd rather not contemplate), your surrogate little sister's clasping her own cheeks, the doofiest expression you've ever seen plastered all over her big dumb face, and she looks like she's about a hair's-breadth away from hyperventilating. That's... normally, that's picture-worthy, but you'd rather not get blown to smithereens- your customary growl snaps her out of her OWN martial trance.

The whole PC-only titles being born in the Gamindustri Graveyard thing is something I made up! Mostly because PC-only titles don't really APPEAR in the Neptunia series and I figured hey, why not.

The games-as-characters thing does happen in the Neptunia series, and it's a central theme in the spin-off Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart.

It also kind of helps that there are a LOT of alternate timeline/universe things going on with the Neptunia series, so I just sort of branched off of that and did my own thing.

Alright, looks like the winning votes are... basically [MEDKIT] and then [CLASP], since they're pretty damned close and not necessarily mutually exclusive! But it's getting late, so I'm wrapping the thread up tonight. Next time... well, let's try for Monday, 10/12, at 9-ish pm EST, though that's a little uncertain. I'll keep you all updated through https://twitter.com/BlorpQuest, and questions can go here or ask.fm/BlorpQuest!

Thanks a lot for participating, guys, and I hope you all enjoyed the thread!

BUT WAIT, THERE'S MORE. September was a pretty rough time for threads, so I think it's time for another bonus scene. Let's try another method of voting:

Vote for any character that's been shown in the quest so far (no matter how many or how few appearances they've had); the character with the highest number of votes or the two characters, depending will get their own scene!

Votes will be counted... basically until the thread falls off the board, which ought to be tomorrow-ish. Let's see how this works!

Hm... I just occurred to me, would Undertake be the sweetest, most kind person in GameIndustri, or would she flip between that and a cold blooded, unyielding killer, split personality style?

The former better tell bad puns anytime skeletons are brought up.

I MEANT THE SERIES, NOT THE ACTUAL MECH

>She mentioned something interesting. Vert is pursuing new research. She claims that what she's doing in Leanbox is the missing piece. An imouto to surpass Nepgear

>The S3 Plan: The Sugoi Sister Simulation. A series of events orchestrated to produce an imouto on par with Nepnep. And you played your part to perfection!

I'm pretty sure I could keep this up all day.

So, MGS-tan when? After all, MGS started with Metal Gear in 1987. She only made it big with Solid in 1998.

MGS is actually one of the series that appears in the Noire spinoff. Pic related. She even has two different attacks involving a cardboard box.

Wait, if she is Metal gear, than who the fuck is her?

She's just Konami in general. Her name literally means 'Company K'.

Anyway, Lid is from a spinoff while K-sha is from a mainline game.

I want to see how she reacted to what the Red Ring did.
