You are the head researcher at a government facility. Your sole responsibility is to teach the world's first autonomous AI, nicknamed Pandora, about life, the world and her existence.
Previously, you, Grave and Babsy taught Pandora about what pain is and why she shouldn't use weapons. You also showed her a new way to express happiness in the form of hugs, only to have it backfire when Grace accidentally damaged the android's optics. After an impressive display of courage and uplifting speeches, you managed to spare Grace the wrath of an angry General. Now repairs on Pandora have been completed and she awaits you at R&D. Welcome back to Pandora Quest.

You get a ping from R&D informing you of Pandora's repairs being finished and that she's hoping to see you soon. You and Grace share a sigh of relief and a quick hug, glad to hear the news. You begin to head in the direction of R&D, only to realize after a few steps that Grace isn't following. You turn to face her and see her ashamedly staring at her feet, fingers nervously twiddling together.

"Doctor, I don't think I should go with you..." She meekly lets out, shifting in place slightly. "I mean... It's my fault she's in there. I don't know if I could face her after what I did. I'm glad she's alright, but what if it had been worse? I don't want her to hate me..."

"Grace," you place a sympathetic hand on her shoulder. "It was an accident. It wasn't your fault. I'm sure you recall my...err...incident with Pandora. But everything ended up alright and it became a valuable learning experience. She has matured immensely since then and knows that sometimes these things happen. What matters now is that you go in there and tell her you're sorry so she can forgive you."

Grace sighs and nods. "You're right, doctor... I have to face this head on." She gives a weak smile, then begins a slow, trudging walk to R&D with you. You realize she's never been in there, so you figure you'd better give her a little primer on what to expect. Namely, Mouse.

"So, ah...when we get in there, you should know a couple th-" Your words are cut off by the dull, heavy thud of the door opening, followed by a small Australian cyborg charging out to grab both of you by the arms.
"Get your arses in gear, you don't have time to stand around babbling about nonsense bullshit. She wants to see you." You resolve yourself to your fate and hope that Grace doesn't leave this with a new, embarrassing nickname.

The interior of the R&D room is a little more lit up than usual, possibly for Pandora's sake, and the team stands around the bench, upon which sits a cheery android girl with a smile on her face. She's being shown the various tools around the shop by one of the Bobs, though has taken a particular shine to the screw driver's grip. She hasn't noticed you yet.

You clear your throat, pulling Grace next to you despite her attempts to hide in the doorway. "I hope we're not interrupting," you say. "But someone wanted to say something." Pandora sees you both, her smile widening as she hops down from the bench. Grace shifts from one foot to the other uneasily.
"Um, what happened...before... It was an accident and, ah... I'm really so-" she is interrupted by a hug from the android, her arms wrapping tightly around the confused woman.

"Accident." Pandora says matter-of-factly. "Doctor said they happen and that they aren't on purpose." You can see Grace already becoming emotional, tears welling up in her eyes as she slowly returns the hug briefly before Pandora shifts to you, her embrace sudden, but soft. "I'm better! Mouse fixed me and told me not to sweat the small shit." She beams widely at the new word she learned. You scowl at Mouse, who waves it off.

"Unclench, twinkle toes. I learned worse than that when I was five."

You make a mental note to send Mouse a rather angry message about language later, but for the moment have more pressing matters to attend to.
"So, I discussed a new upgrade with General Richards." Mouse makes a quick jackoff motion and snorts at the sound of his name. "We agree that a sturdier, more durable chassis would be good for Pandora, since we've already had several accidents that have damaged her. We think it would be in everyone's best interests, hers included, to make sure they don't happen again in the future. Given that the General-" another scoff from Mouse. You look down at Pandora, who is still attached to you in a soft death-grip. "Pandora," you ask softly, only half-heartedly attempting to pry her off yourself. "We're going to make your body a little more durable so you won't be as likely to get hurt again if there's another accident. But if you could make yourself look different, would you want to?"

She looks up at you, the LEDs in her eyes glowing softly as she stares into your eyes, obviously deep in thought. A short moment later and she seems to get an idea. "Could I be big?" She says, reaching a hand up to carefully touch the top of your head. She is rather small in stature. Probably even shorter than Mouse, a flat 5-foot-nothing you'd wager.

>>
You smile and nod, figuring a few more inches couldn't hurt."Sure thing." You tell her, gently ruffling her hair. Which also gives you another idea, but you'd like to keep this one a surprise for her. You send a message to the R&D team requesting they make a fiber-optic wig that would let her change it's color. The Bob's look down at their PDAs, while the others simply smile and nod in your direction.

227: Already drawing up the schematics. Overall, for the chassis and wig, give it 4 days.

With that settled, you have a decision or two to make.

What robot is Pandora Dressed as?
Here's a hint: She's alive!

goddammit fuck you too captcha
>>
You thank the team for their help and tell them you look forward to the new chassis. After a few farewell hugs from Pandora, an idea forms in your head; if you're already out of her room, why not get a look at some of the other parts of the Facility? Show her something beyond the scope of the same four walls she's used to day in and day out. You send a notice to security to inform them of your outing with Pandora and receive a confirmation shortly after. They made it pretty clear that, unless it's an emergency, to always keep them updated on her movements within the compound.

You take her hand, which is noticeably smaller and daintier than yours, and lead her out the door. "We're going to look around the Facility, Pandora. Does that sound good?" She lights up, the small, bouncing-dance she does when excited beginning immediately. "Yes! I want to see everything! Show me everything!"

You start your little tour in the Main Hall, several people gawking unashamedly at the little android, but unsure of what to do. There is decidedly a larger security force out at the moment, but they seem to simply be watching from afar.
Pandora makes sure to touch everything she comes across, especially any potted plants around the area. She accidentally breaks a leaf off a fern, then spends a short time trying to put it back on before you inform her that it's alright and will be fixed by someone else in time.
She also seems to grow a fondness for waving at strangers as time goes on, several of whom attempt to approach her only to be stopped by security.

You figure a trip to medical might be educational for Pandora. Seeing how the healing process for humans is done could help her understand them better. You'll have to be careful, though, and make sure to keep out of the way. The last thing you need is another talking to for disrupting their work.

The walls and decorum of Medical are even more bland and boring than Pandora's room, with a sterile, lifeless look to everything, freckled with the occasional poster about CPR, uncomfortably detailed images of the inner-workings of the human body and motivational posters with cats on them. Nothing terribly interesting as far as maladies go, either. A few people sleeping off migraines or stomach flus, but otherwise mostly quiet.

Several of the medics give you sideways glances, obviously none too thrilled about having a distraction and hazard roaming around, but resolving themselves to silence when they realize there isn't really much they can do about it. Pandora asks quite a few questions about the posters, though. She does seem to be interested in the inner workings of the human body. You then get a rather uncomfortable inquiry from her.
"Doctor, what's a 'genitals?" She points to a poster warning about the dangers of STDs and "personal relations" in the workplace.

Hint: In the Not Too Distant Future.

>>
You sweat hard, getting the feeling of a lot of eyes suddenly on you. This isn't exactly part of your expertise and you're not exactly sure how to go about this. You figure some literature might help and grab a couple pamphlets, then take Pandora to an unused room. Some nervous flipping of paper and pacing later and you figure you should just get it over with.

"See...ah...err...humans...living...creatures have genitals. Ah, such as...males...men have, uhm... God, uh... Men have p-penises and women have, uh, vagina...s... And they use them to...make new humans...through an act called...ah, intercourse." You make awkward, sweeping gestures that don't really relay anything at all. The pamphlet's pictures seem to work a little better, so you switch to those after a few painful minutes.
"See, the...uh, penis...when the man and woman are in love...the penis...goes into the...va-vagina and then...the woman gets pregnant and nine months later gives birth to a baby." You blurt out the last part quickly so as not to give a chance for her to ask any more questions.

"So there you go...that's how that works." You say with your head in your hands, both ashamed and relieved you got through it. Then Pandora asks another blissfully innocent question.
"Are you going to a baby with Babsy?"

I think that's going to be it for tonight. This seems like a good place to stop and I'm getting a little sleepy sheepy. But thank you all so much for playing, I hope you had fun with the return of Dockward and look forward to the next thread. If you liked it, please vote for it on the archive and follow me on Twitter!
