>LAST TIME ON LEGEND OF WULIN HERO
>Feng Tiankong, called Lightning Tiger, Song of Feng Renshu, called Storm Dragon had re-appeared after vanishing for nearly a year into the southlands after the disastrous Top Ten Young Heroes Tournament.
>After saving Yuan Qiyue, daughter of Yuan Shengli, he was convinced by the young clan heiress to become her bodyguard as a way of repaying the deceased Yuan Clan founder the obligation Sky felt for the man he had slain.

If you'd known that being a bodyguard was going to be so boring you'd have just shaved your head, given up meat and wine and become a monk instead.

Actually, scratch that.
You know a monk, and he's incredibly annoying. Maybe a Daoist Priest? Do they shave their heads? You don't think so, but they don't drink wine, right?
Something about no wine and meat, right?

"Yo," you say aloud, interrupting the tedious and presumably hugely important conversation between your charge, Yuan Qiyue and the remains of the Yuan Clan and Han Ren, the Eagle Clan representative and his extensive cohort.

Everyone looks at you, ceasing in mid-conversation.

The lavishly furnished tea room is covered in valuables, with a low gilt table with Qiyue and the other remaining members of her Clan are seated across from the Eagle Clan's representatives, all of whom were engaged in hot debate over a whole bunch of stuff you didn't really care about enough to listen to.

"What?" you ask the shocked silence. "It's a serious question you guys."

>WDYD?

Yuan Qiyue gives you the nastiest look you've ever been given for your fraudulent interruption.
Nastier then all the looks anybody who's ever tried to kill you gave, actually.

"You...allow your hired bodyguard much, Lady Yuan," Han Ren notes, sounding mildly amused.

The Eagle Clan representative is supposed to be some kind of bureaucratic negotiator you guess, but he doesn't look like one to you; he's a HUGE guy in his thirties, wearing elaborate finery of white silk and golden jewelry fit for a high nobleman or an Imperial General or something, with biceps that suggest he's plenty used to fighting, not grinding ink sticks and pushing paper, and his bushy beard and mustache suggest a soldier or fighting-man.

"You say 'hired' like I'm getting paid or something," you dryly point out, laying on your side casually with one hand propping up your head.

"Hero Sky!" Qiyue barks, her voice full of disapproval. "Mike your manners!"

"Can't. Don't have any," you point out, unfazed by her authorotive tone.
You're used to authorotive figures who pelt you with high velocity acorns and kill bears with one hand; Qiyue's fancy clothes and family name do NOT impress you.

"If you don't want to deal with my quirks you probably shouldn't have cajoled me into working for you, Lady Yuan. Is there any more wine?" you ask, looking around.

The courtiers of the Yun Clan are all scandaled, but the Eagle Clan guys seem to think it's funny.

"Hero Sky certainly has a lot of character. You're for hire, huh? Ever think about joining up with us? We appreciate character in the Eagle Clan," Han Ren says, clearly a amused. "What sect ARE you from?"

Everyone knows "Lightning Tiger" is named "Feng Tiankong" by now
When Sky goes by his given name only (Tiankong, meaning Sky), it sounds like he's using a Jianghu Name and not his actual one.

Basically he can go incognito as himself since despite his fame almost nobody knows anything definitive about him.

"The None Of Your Damn Business School, Undefeated of the East," you quip without even thinking about it.

"Hah! You got a LOT of lip for a kid your age! You know, we're always accepting spirited-" Han Ren begins, and Qiyue interrupts him as sharply as she reprimanded you earlier.

"Representative Han! We still have business to discuss regarding a political alliance between the Yuan Clan and Eagle Clan! You can poach my hirelings later if you are TRULY so desperate for manpower!" she says icily.

"Hireling?" you mutter in an offended tone.

"True enough. Apologies Lady Yuan. My family's enthusiasm sometimes gets the better of me. Both me and my brother were young warriors much like him once, remember!" he laughs.
"In regards to that alliance; I suppose an agreement could be reached. The Yuan Clan has a tainted name in the wulin ever since your father's attempted takeover of Sichuan," he continues, and to her credit Qiyue shows zero sign of taking offense at the rude statement, "but we of the Eagles know that there were extenuating circumstances."

You're sensing a "but" coming along.

"But without any political capital, what's the point of such an alliance?" he asks.

"I thought the Eagles were men of virtue. Would you not help a young lady in need of aid?" she asks slyly, and he furrows his prow, his chivalric pride pricked.
You gotta admit, she's good.

"Still, we must wait for the other negotiating party at this before we can decide anything," Han Ren says, and just as he says that the door to the tea room opens up.

And in walks Iron Palm Qiu Qiang.
Who (of course) spots you immediately.

"YOU!!" he roars.

"AGH, SHIT!" you shout in surprise, leaping to your feet.

You lie back down on your side, propping up your head with one arm and the arm jump up in a lazy wave.

"Yo," you say casually. "Surprised me there dude. How's your wife?"

"Why the hell are you here!?!" he says, clearly a mix of surprised and off-guard, and thus obviously his first inclination is to be angry and fierce. "And she's fine!"

"What??" Han Ren asks nobody, clearly even more confused.

"Good to hear. You'll have to introduce me sometime. Can I get that wine? Anybody?" you ask again, looking around for the jug.

"Is this an ambush?!" he demands, looking around warily.

"Sheesh, paranoid much? I'm just here my coincidence dude. Your injuries look healed by the way. Nice going. Now where's that wine? Lying here listening to heavy talk is thirsty work," you ask again, looking around.

"What??" Han Ren says, still lost.

"Yes! My injuries are fine, thank you!" Qiang says in the angriest way possible. "Where have you been?!"

"Here and there. Sorry I didn't write. Figured you were busy," you say with a shrug, and you keep looking around. "Seriously guys; wine. Where?"

"Would SOMEONE get him some wine?!" Qiang demands, and the servant swiftly obeys and pours in your cup.

"Hey, thanks man!" you say to Qiang, nodding as you take a sip.

"Your welcome!!" he says, again angrily.

"If that's what you're worried about, perhaps you should consider becoming a monk?"
>"As a matter of fact, I was doing just that a little earlier. But then I realized I'd have you for a role model."
"Is that so disagreeable to you? I would think that there are a number of qualities you could stand to learn from me and my fellows."
>"Humility clearly isn't one of them. I thought monks were supposed to be modest?"
"False modesty is something I strive to avoid where possible, though it's something I'm still working on."
>"I could think of another thing or two you could work on."
"Oh? What such as?"
>"Not being you."
>>
"A-HEM," Qiyue interrupts, clearing her throat pointedly. "Now that the Iron Palm Sect Head is here can we continue negotiations?"

"Uh...yes...," Han Ren agrees, suddenly much more off-balance then he was before Qiang arrived.
He has no idea what to make of you anymore, and you suspect Lady Yuan planned it that way all along.

"As I was saying, you have...," he continues, glancing at you and Qiang. "Not much political capitol or allies of note..."

"We have financial capitol in abundance. The Yuan Clan nearly equals the wealth of the Eagle Sect, and all of that wealth is still untouched by the Imperial Court. And we have SOME allies of note," she says, sipping her tea with closed eyes, not nothing to look in your direction.

Han Ren now has no idea who you are, except that you can talk to Iron Palm Qiu Qiang like a long-term friend without him turning you immediately into paste.

"The Iron Palm Sect is willing to enter a cordial alliance with the Yuan Clan," Qiang says immediately. "I don't care what demands the Imperial Court thinks it can make of the wulin. My sect has more influence over the southern regions then they do anyway."

"That's....remarkably generous, Hero Qiang," Han Ren says, again surprised. "I know the Eagle Clan and Iron Palm are aligned, but the Yuan are part of the Four New Houses, and the other three-"

Qiang cuts him off with a sharp cutting motion from his hand and a simple "tch!" sound.

"I honor our two faction's alliance because of the friendship between my father and Soaring Eagle, and because I feel you are the only other group that really understands my goals. Don't ruin that relationship with petty politicking, Han Ren. The Iron Palm Sect supports an alliance with the Yuan Clan, and I don't CARE what Zhou Baiyou or the other Four Houses or the wulin think. We make our OWN way in the jianghu."

It's weird watching Qiang be all generous and political. You guess he has to because he's the clan head, but it's still kinda odd to see.
>>
>>42997645
It was a wine joke
>>
>>42997830

>>
You're also surprised he's allied with anyone at all, given his temperament.
You know next to nothing about the Eagle Clan other then they're important and that their leader Soaring Eagle is supposedly richer then the Emperor, so why the Iron Palm Sect would ally with them is unknown to you as well.

You sigh, finding yourself missing Zhu'er and her helpful advice on the jianghu.
You haven't seen her or Duan Lei in the months since you left Chengdu after killing Yuan Shengli.

You stand up and casually walk outside to the balcony of Golden Eagle Tower, taking the wine with you, ignoring the droning conversation.

It's night outside now, and as you lean on the balcony you sigh again as you look up at the glowing half-moon over the lights of Kaifeng, which the tower stretches over in it's tremendous height.

The Forbidden City of the Imperial Palace is far off in the distance, the size of the complex rivaling the core area of Kaifeng itself.
You wonder if it pisses the Emperor off that the Eagle Clan built their headquarters taller then the Imperial Palace?
You bet Emperor's get easily offended by shit like that.

You feel a heavy weight rest on your right shoulder, and you reach up behind you to touch a familiar presence; Kamushin's beak gently touching your shoulder. He sits perched behind you on the roof of Golden Eagle Tower, as silent as an owl despite his titanic size. Nobody inside even knows he's there, which you're fine with for now.

"I miss them too, buddy," you admit. "Seems like everyone I run into leaves after I get fond of them. Ba, Lei, Zhu'er, Ai'er, even Zhengzhu. You're the only one that sticks around."

The Great Condor says nothing of course.

"Ah well. At least there's the assurance that Qiu Qiang will always be there to challenge me to death-battles. Maybe that's all there IS to life out here in the jianghu....," you say with a third sigh.

You feel a sudden twinge at the back of your neck, more a feeling then a physical pain, and you reflexively flinch.

You stop leaning, looking around with a confused expression on your face as your blue eyes narrow in the dark, searching for what caused it.

That was weird. What WAS that?

Kamushin is no longer resting his beak on you, and is looking off into the city.
You suddenly feel strongly uneasy.

You shudder, shaking off the uneasy feeling as you turn and head back inside.
Maybe your qi meridians are out of balance or something.

"Keep a watch, would you?" you ask Kamushin as he flaps once with a mild rushing of air and takes off into the night as you head back inside, stretching your shoulder as the warmth of Golden Eagle Tower surrounds you, driving back that sense of unease that hit you a moment earlier like a fireplace driving back a sudden winter chill outside.

It felt sort of like you were being watched.
You wish you still had your sword. You don't NEED it you guess, but you miss having it in case you needed it.
"Gotta see if I can get a replacement...," you mutter as you lean back against the wall as the talks continue on.

"Why isn't Sky Ice Fortress' chief here, anyway?" Qiang says, interrupting something Han Ren was saying, directing his brusque tones at Yuan Qiyue.

"The alliance between the Four Houses is informal," she clarifies to him, "Zhou Baiyou's clan is far to the North of here....and besides that the other three alliances were chiefly towards my father, not me. Perhaps the chiefs of Peerless Castle, White Crane Pavilion and Sky Ice Fortress all consider me not the same as my late father despite the vows of brotherhood between the four of them."

"Hmph," Qiu Qiang says with a dismissive grunt of disapproval. "If their vows are so fragile then they should withhold making them at all. Merchants who spend only cheap, debased coin and hollow bargains find their wares devalued by those who make honest deals and keep their promises."

"Indeed, Iron Clan Sect Chief," Qiyue says with a bow of her head. "I could not agree more. Speaking of; where is Han Ying?"

Her words are directed at Han Ren, who shrugs nervously.

"Hawk flies where he will. He's my nephew, but I can't control him any better then his father can. I know he's in the city, but he's never been interested in meetings like this. If it's not gold, a woman, or a fight he doesn't care."
>>

"Does he agree to the primary point of negotiation?" Qiyue asks, clearly still cautious about this deal.

"Protection from the assassins of the Tang Clan? Of course. The Eagle Clan has always had a rivalry with the Spiders of Sichuan; protecting you from them is something we can all agree upon. I tried to arrange a marriage, like you suggested Lady Yuan, but..." Han Ren says apologetically, and Qiyue nods.

"He refused. I understand. As you said, Gallant Eagle's son flies where he wills. His womanizing is well known throughout the jianghu. And his drinking. And brawling."
She sounds mildly like she finds this behavior distasteful.

"Hero Sky," you hear, and next to you is Yen Boli, the muscled and soldier-lik chief of Qiyue's bodyguards, sliding down the wall to sit near you. "Mind if I sit?"

You shake your head in response

"Can I ask, what is it between you and the Iron Palm Chief?" the bodyguard asks.

He does, but I feel like when it comes to giving information for information with someone honorable and trustworthy, he's less liable to go "I'll show you mine if you show me yours" and more "sure, this is what you wanted to know, but while we're at it, could you also tell me this?"

As far as I recall, if he doesn't want it to be known, he'll deflect, and if he doesn't care, he'll share it freely. Using information as a bribe is something I don't recall him doing before.

Of course, it has been a while.

"I guess he doesn't like loosing," you say with a shrug. "Say, you Yuan Clan guys know or have a good weaponsmith? I find myself in need of armament lately."

Boli shrugs.
"We just contracted out our weapons orders to the best smiths in Chendu. Do you not have the money to buy a new weapon yourself or something?"

"No, I just need a...specialized smith. You saw my saber break in that fight with Stabmaster Feng?" you inquire.

He snorts in amusement at your nickname for Ouyang Feng, the knife-wielding killer you fought earlier.
"Yeah. I thought it was surprising he could shatter the saber like that, no matter how quick his bladework was."

"Well, he didn't. The internal technique I used broke the blade. I've been having problems with that for a month or two now, just going through replacement weapons left and right. It's a pain in the ass," you elaborate.

"Do your techniques require a saber?" he asks curiously.

"No, but I like using one. Call it a security blanket. A very sharp security blanket."

"Hmmm....well, you might have a problem then. A master smith can make you a new sword that will stand up to your techniques in theory, but if that IS the cause it would probably just break again eventually. You need something from the Sword Devils."

"I'm hoping that's just a nickname," you say dryly.

"It's the name of a hidden village of legendary smiths somewhere in the Northern Peaks. They make some of the best weapons in Tianxia, though it's hard to find them. They sometimes wander the jianghu, finding worthy candidates for their craft, but you'd never know one until he told you. The other alternative is to find another legendary weapon, like the ones the Heaven Sword Alliance keeps in Sword Heaven...." he explains.

"Great, so basically I have to get absurdly lucky then?"

"More or less. I mean, you could use another weapon, but those are the only places where the weapon would match the personal skill of Storm Dragon himself, I imagine."

Nonsense. The QM has stated for a fact that Storm Dragon's skill exceed that of Sword Devil. What do you mean, that was a different Sword Devil, how many of them can there be?
>>
>>42999838
It's village, not a person.
The village is named AFTER the person as it's where he eventually died of old age after retiring from the wulin ages ago.
>>
>>42999838
If the most that most people know about this hidden village is that it's 'somewhere in the Northern Peaks', would it be that much of a surprise to discover that it's actually a sprawling underground metropolis of totally-not-dwarven miners and smiths?

We're inevitably going to cross paths with the last sword he ever made before his death, still in pristine condition even after hundreds(?) of years, and have to battle some villain or other over it atop a snow-covered mountain to prevent him from using the sword for his own nefarious purposes, aren't we?

Except instead of trying to claim the sword for ourselves or anything silly like that, we're just going to let him grab it and them push him into a ravine, because we give no fucks.

"Can you ONLY use sabers?" he wonders.

"Nope," you say with a shake of your head. "I know the Four Major Weapons; Swords, Sabers, Spears, and Staves. I'm best with swords and sabers though."

Especially swords these days since Yuang Shengli gave you the Golden Qilin Sword Skill manual, but you'll keep that bit to yourself; you don't know who might take offense.

"Hmm...well, if it's swords...," Boli says thinking.

"Yeah?"

"Well, there's one in the capitol area you might look into, but it's....well, it's complicated," he admits.

"Oh, best no tell me about it then. I like the simple life I do. Noooothing complex about stuff that happens to me, no Sir. Not at ALL. Mister Boring over here," you respond, shaking your head in an exaggerated motion.

"Funny guy," Boli says, unamused. "Well, this is definitely something that would make your life MORE complicated, for whatever that's worth."

>WDYS?

>"Yeah, screw that. I don't need to know about it then." [Refuse]

>"What could possibly be more complex then my current situation?" [Curious]

This is effectively a side-quest information bit. Note that if Sky decides to go after this particular weapon after getting information on it it WILL heavily influence the story one way or the other. As Bolin pointed out, there's more then one place to get legendary weapons.

That would be more fitting for Dugu's second sword, since he actually did throw it into a ravine. That's why it's not there in the Tomb of Swords. "I'm the son of the former Wulin Mengzhu, one of the most infamous xia who ever lived, have no clan or sect affiliation and just recently made the Top Ten Young Heroes list. How could a sword possibly make my life more complicated?" you say, unimpressed.

"When the sword once took the life of an Emperoer decades and decades ago," he says simply.

Oh. You guess that IS kinda crazy.

"Supposedly the Black Dragon Slayer was used by a xia to kill a rightful Son of Heaven for some a long time ago, and became cursed with terrible power. On an island named Bird's Eye outside the city it's rumored to be kept by some Buddhist monks who watch over it to purify it of it's curse, somehow. Maybe it's all made-up and the sword didn't do any of that though; stories like this tend to pick up a lot of embellishment as they travel through the jianghu. The part about the monks in the temple on Birds Eye Island is true though; they don't participate much in the wulin, though their martial skills are impressive, so they're either weird isolationists or they're guarding SOMETHING."

"Huh. An Emperor-killing sword huh?" you say, wondering. "By the way I've been meaning to ask; have you ever seen a girl with green hair and green eyes? Or maybe a guy in red clothes with a saber who drinks a lot?"

"No. The other sounds like Hero Duan Lei, the Swiftest Saber of Hunan," he notes.

"Yea, that's him. I've been looking for him and the other one for awhile. Hard to find two people in the jianghu who can wander at will."

Sizing the chance given to you, you move to speak to Qiang who stands among other members of his clan, speaking quietly.

"Sup good buddy? Punched any gravel lately?" you offer as you walk up with a smile.

"Firstly, we are NOT 'good buddies'. Secondly, my physical training moved beyond gravel and progressed to iron sand to increase my striking strength years ago," he points out. "I plan to progress further to solid stone shortly. My palm must be stronger then the toughest steel; no less is acceptable."

"Do they not have HUMOR where you come from or something?" you ask, raising an eyebrow.

He pauses, frowning before clearing his throat.

"I made a mistake, earlier," he says, and he's practically choking on the words.

"What, when you walked in? Forget it; I kind of surprised you there," you say with a shrug, brushing it off.

"No. Nine months ago, at Chengdu. I was....impolite to you. I did not know your true identity then, until after the Battle of Chengdu," he explains.

Huh. Is he APOLOGIZING to you?
Who'da thought? You figured he just didn't do that sort of thing. Basic manners seemed a bit sophisticated for the young Iron Palm Sect Chief.

"It's not like you could have known or anything. I mean, *I* didn't even know until after I'd beaten you, and I sort of had to deduce it over time," you admit.

"The only excuse for failure is success," he says so automatically you can only assume it's a verbal lesson he memorized at some point. "The son of the former Wulin Mengzhu, the strongest man who ever lived, deserves respect if nothing else."

You think you follow his logic.
Qiu Qiang seems to take the core tenant of the wulin, martial strength over any other status or virtue, very seriously. Your father was demonstratably stronger then every clan head in the wulin combined, so perhaps that accords you respect in his eyes as the inheritor of that power, even if you haven't reached it yet.

"Well, whatever," you say with a shrug.

"I would greatly enjoy resuming our duel when we both have time," he says solemnly. "It would be an honor to kill the Son of Storm Dragon in battle."

"What, 'respect' doesn't mean we bury the hatchet between us?" you ask, surprised.

"Of course not. It simply makes our rivalry more legitimate. It is good; I know have an enemy worthy of training against," he says, nodding and closing his eyes, giving you his grimace of a smile. "A personal goal I have long since thought beyond me reach; all my peers were weak, and my seniors I would one day surpass once I gained enough strength."

"Glad you're so happy about our impending battle to the death," you say sarcastically. "Definitely looking forward to it myself."

"I knew you'd understand," he says, sounding genuinely happy at your words, continuing to nod happily.

This guy gives you a headache.
"So, have you seen any of my other friends?" you ask, changing the subject.

"Duan Lei and the Green-Haired Girl? No. Why would I have? They weren't with me when the city fell, we all went our separate ways, especially when Duan Lei and her got clear of the fighting and I and my cohort had to smash free," he explains.

"Dammit. Guess it was too much to hope for. Wait, you FOUGHT your way out? You were still recovering from our earlier fight!"

"Does the wounded lion pay mind to the worms he steps on as he goes to lick his wounds?" he responds. "Or does he trod on them and they suffer his wrath regardless of his injuries."

"Nice," you say, rolling your eyes.

"Thank you," he says sincerely. "Congratulations on your impending marriage by the way."

"Congratulations on my WHAT now?" you ask thrown off-balance.

"Your engagement. To Ao Zhengzhu. She's been trumpeting it absolutely everywhere she goes while continuing her piracy and subversive activities, to practically any xia of note she fights. That isn't really what his Iron Body Skill does. It's basically just a series of toughening and strength-increasing exercises that also allow you to ignore the effects of pain and injury temporarily.
>>43003939
You're talking about Iron Shirt/Golden Armor skills and it's variants.
To a degree, nearly all xia go through training like that by striking progressively harder surfaces to toughen their limbs for battle.

Iron Shirt/Golden Armor technique masters go WAY beyond that, and focus all of their energy on reinforcing themselves until they become nearly invulnerable to harm.

The body doesn't LITERALLT change to iron, it just takes the appearance of it sometimes, though usually the user is just invulnerable and nothing physically changes.

It's also a flawed technique; every known version of it has a weakness, a precise point that can be struck to break the armor and render the user almost completely helpless as all of their internal energy is focused on maintaining it's solidity.
>>43004029
Sort of.
It generates an electromagnetic field in Sky's body the same way qi is produced (modified breathing techniques) and then violently expels that in the form of attacks.

"Dammit Zhengzhu...," you mutter.
You suppose you shouldn't be surprised. As much as you tried to avoid it, she pretty much seemed not the type to take "no" for an answer, and as she got to know you she was...increasingly forward. And possessive.

You guess just taking things she wanted comes as second nature to her with her pirate activity, and claiming you as her fiancee must be her way of staking a claim or something.

"Hmm...," Qiang says, clearly thinking.
"What?" you ask, somewhat annoyed.

"Weighing the benefits of killing you before you marry. Ao Zhengzhu is also a mighty rival, but would likely be less satisfying to fight....she might accelerate her training in determined vengeance if I kill you though, so maybe that would off-set it? What do you think?"

"...how the Emei Sect and Zhou Ai fared?"

"They survived the battle if that's what you mean. With the power vacuum caused by the Yuan Clan's fall, the Emei and the Tang are they two most powerful groups in Sichuan," he explains. "Of course the Emei's rivalry with the Phoenix Clan flared up worse then ever afterwords. I guess Li Honglan spoke to Yuan Shengli before the battle, as he did Ao Zhengzhu, trying to convince her to join his revolt."

You remember; you were there at the time, though Honglan didn't know it.

"Why do the Emei and the Phoenix Clan have a rivalry?" you ask.

"Philosophical differences," he says with a shrug. "The Emei, despite being all-women are a traditionalist sect and strongly believe in staying out of secular affairs."

"And the Phoenix don't," you say with a nod.

"Exactly. The Emei claim the Phoenix Clan is breaking the rules of the wulin for personal gain, and the Phoenix claim right back that they Emei are weakening the position of all women in Tianxia by not siding with them, and then fights start and rivalries happen and so on and so forth," he elaborates. "Personally? I just think both want to be known as THE 'women's faction' in the jianghu and hate sharing the title with each other and so come up with silly excuses to argue and fight."

You pause and think on that.
"That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard."

"I know. When women fight they do this absurd thing where they dance around the subject matter and reason while spreading slander and lies about the other. Why can't they just be civilized and beat each other bloody until there's a winner like men do?"

"Ugh, I know. Zhengzhu and Zhu'er were doing the same thing. It's ridiculous," you agree.

You can't even believe you're having this conversation with him. Life is weird.

"So, Li Honglan got out fine too then?" you ask.

"Yes, I assume so. She's keeping a lower profile, probably playing her political games."

One of the reasons I love wuxia.
>>
"Her reaction to your identity was odd. She didn't make loud proclamations damning or praising you, but I hear she's looked for you once or twice. No idea why; probably trying to ensnare you in some scheme or the other."

You don't doubt it; she was interested in your skills BEFORE it was known you were Storm Dragon's son.
Also just plain interested you suppose.

"Great. I hid my name at first to AVOID all that stuff that comes with it. The whole thing is a pain in the ass...," you admit.

"You should proudly wear your title and lineage," he suggests. "And then beat up EVERYBODY who looks at you sideways. That'll shut them up."

"Thanks. That's helpful," you sarcastically quip.

"I'm suggesting that because it's what I did," he clarifies.
"Thanks, I got that."
"Okay. I wasn't sure at first."
"Nope, you were pretty clear."
"Good."

"So what-" you begin, but you feel that twinge on the back of your neck again, and this time you identify what it is; killing intent in insane quantities.

You turn, frowning, just as Kamushin lets out a cry of warning!
Something bone-white and blinding fast explodes through the door with enough force to blast it off it's hinges and wraps around your neck tightly enough to choke off your air supply, making you unable to circulate your qi!

You drop the cup you're holding with a "GHHK!" and put both hands to try and yank off the white snakeskin-covered whip, but it drags you out away at the window, lifting you off your feet with incredible force!

A chillingly cold left hand catches you by the collar, and you're treated to the sight of a white-haired man in a demon mask covered in adornments of death as he leaps off the balcony with you in hand his free hand not holding the whip seeming to glow a baleful, poisonous blue, his skeleton showing beneath the skin!

"fEnG tiANkoNG!" he breathes, his voice warped and twisted as if wrung from a corpse's throat and not a man's.

"DeAtH COmES foR YOU!"

And then you fall with him towards the city below.

Kinda suprised how quick everyone jumped back on it.

Trying to do at least one run a week.
The new Twitter link is up and I'll alert you there.

As usual, I'll try to answer any questions I can without spoiling stuff.
>>
>>43005906
DON'T LEAVE US AGAIN, WHAT IF YOU DISAPPEAR FOREVER NEXT TIME?!
>>
>>43006071
You'll have to deal with it, obviously.
The last time was a totally out of nowhere thing.
I'll try to give more warning if I have to seek a week of posting from now on.
>>
>>43006046
I doubt I have 47 followers.
I mean....there's just no way my quest is that popular. Can't be.

>Checks.

Holy balls.
No pressure, right?

How did Qiu Qiang end up getting married anyway? He doesn't seem like someone to agree to a political one. I can think of only two reasons.
>>
>>43006143
She punched him really REALLY hard.

Then she drug him off into the bedroom.

Nope, it was political, for the good of the clan.
He's actually genuinely fond of his wife too.

Her name's Qiu Qing.
>>
>>43006160
Well yes that was the second reason I was thinking of; losing in a fight.
>>
>>43006201
That's surprising, he seems someone whose only politics is his fists.
>>
>>43006201
>He's actually genuinely fond of his wife too.
i can see why, hot damn
>>
>>43006201
how many kids does this guy have or will have
>>
>>43006250
His politics are simple and based entirely around expanding his influence and glory.
He's just up front about it, unlike most clans.
>>43006263
That's no why he's fond of her.
But it helps, sure.
>>43006268
None, yet. They haven't been married long.
>>
>>43006268
18, he will love them all and be the best dad ever.
>>
>>43006311
>That's no why he's fond of her
She's as blunt and direct as he is?
>>
>>43006346
maybe she gives advice on how to expand the clans influence and power
>>
>>43006311
Well if the marriage is political, what is her political significance? Where is she from?
>>
>>43006346
No, he just genuinely likes her personality. It really is just that simple.
Qiang is a pretty straightforward guy really.
>>43006372
She's from his own clan; clans are made of up multiple families all under one "main" branch.

Her family was one of the larger ones under the Iron Palm Sect, and by marrying her he helped consolidate the clan under his control after he defeated (read: killed) his father in a duel for leadership of the faction.
>>
>>43006326
And then Sky has to kill him in a duel to death.
>>
>>43006504
and the kids won't even be mad when they try to kill Sky, just trying to one up their old man and secure their place as head of the clan.
>>

This is Han Ren, called Soaring Eagle, of the Eagle Clan BTW.
>>
>>43006649
Ah, if we had left would we have run into him?
>>
>>43006649
ahh so this is the guy who's gonna come and see what all the commotion is.
>>
>>43006680
>>43006693
No, that would be his nephew, Hang Ying, called Hawk.

Soaring Eagle's brother is Han Laoying, called Gallant Eagle, head of the Eagle Talon Clan, and Hawk is Gallant Eagle's son.
>>
>>43006749
It's been a year and Sky's stats haven't increased at all?

Has he not been training?

You're making Ba sad, Sky.
>>

Heaven's Blessings, Carefree Saber, Golden Qilin Sword, and Endless Sky Forms all have improved.

Oh, cool then.

Fucking Cultivation, why you so hard to raise!?
>>
>>43006960
Well. You were running a fairly sucessful quest, then suddenly dropped off the grid with no word.

That said good to have you back. Time to re-read the quest.

Also in the interim period I did make a DnD monk based on Brother Genshu. I didnt do the character as much justice but I enjoyed it.
>>
>>43007071
Cultivation is mainly increased through age and constant training, with occasional rare boosting elements.
That's why the oldest characters are the most powerful usually.

C+ cultivation is actually VERY good; your average minor faction master has a cultivation of C or C+.
>>
>>43007109
But Ba had ALL the cultivation!

We're making him SAD!
>>
>>43007083
What edition?
Also, damn. Kind of flattering.
>>
>>43007125
He was eight years older then Sky when he challenged the collected wulin.
Sky equals most leaders in raw power (if not technique) and he's barely even 21 years old at this point.

Give him a break.
>>
>>43007127
5th ed. Basically a monk who wandered into the desert looking for enlightenment and found zip. I did get to use the book of not real advice line though.
>>
>>43007166
5e's good fun so far.
I found myself pleasantly surprised.
I keep waiting for WotC to cock it up.
>>
>>43007153
Would Ba give him a break?

Checkmate, atheists.
>>
>>43007166

>"Monk's Vocabulary Field Guide
not the book of not real advice.

>>43007245
Yeah I have too. they did cock it up a bit with some archetypes being complete garbage. But eh. It didnt really fit for genshu to be shooting lighting from his palms or launching fire dragons anyhow.
>>
>>43007313
>they did cock it up a bit with some archetypes being complete garbage. But eh.

Well, no system is perfect.
But as a 2e vet of sorts I appreciate the mix of 2e elements mixed with 3e's universal system bits, not to mention the overall simplification.

Never made much sense to me that the "entry" drug for tabletop games was always one of the most convoluted rules-wise.
