This is a quest inspired by the game, Long Live the Queen. The setting is fantasy medieval with magic. You play a princess attempting to rule a small, unimportant kingdom rise back to the glory of former past. The only problem being, you are COMPLETELY USELESS and CLUELESS as you have been spoiled as a child. It is up to you to quickly learn and overcome the easy life that has hampered you. Whether becoming a charismatic queen that draws heroic servants to your cause, a battle-leading amazon conquering land, or a foolish bumbling tyrant is all up to you.

The game is not harsh like Long Live the Queen where everything can kill you and end the game. It is however imperative to think about the consequences of your actions and decisions. Too many mistakes may cost you reputation, friends, the love of the people, and maybe even your rule. All in all however, common sense is a fortuitous guide.

And what art thou, thou idol ceremony?
What kind of god art thou, that suffer’st more
Of mortal griefs than do thy worshippers

------------------------------------------------

In the last session you inspect your military to find that it is in poor condition and work to change things. You've also found that your trade implements have paid off. Blue crabs from southern isles are being brought in and creating a delicacy. Your kingdom of Seraphia has now branded a special peach wine, dubbed Linettian in your honor, and ships them to various other kingdoms. And learning healing magic from Rorona, you find yourself a step closer to your dream of a rule loved by all. However, some dark tidings arise as nobles like Barrington go against you.

It is just before noon and you find yourself walking down the dust hall of your castle. As you make your way you notice a certain maid hiding behind a wall, sneaking a peak through someone's room and giggling to herself. You are certain the room Tammy is peaking in to is your cousin's office. Is this some mischief your maid is brewing?

Like a burglar sneaking through a mansion to steal valuables, you tip-toe your way next to the wall and shift yourself on to the wall. Slowly you lean your head forward and take a peek right above your maid's head.

"Pssst... Tammy, what is going on?" you whisper.

"Look," Tammy whispers back, pointing inside your cousin Raymund's office. Inside you can see your cousin busily looking over papers and signing various things. Walking toward him is... Rorona. In a maid dress. She's holding a large plate with a cup of tea and lacquer.

Eh? What?

Those are the only words you hear in your head.

"I was talking with Rorona and she mentioned that my clothes were cute," Tammy says, almost as if she knew you were going to ask."I let her try on my clothes, and your lord cousin mistook her for a maid and ordered her to make some tea."

Ahhh... You think to yourself. Considering Rorona's personality, she probably was not able to refuse and explain the mistaken situation. As you look at your poor tutor, she is shaking and walking small steps. It is pretty clear she has never served before. And you are also sure she is going to crash and spill soon enough.

You take a glance at Tammy and the girl has starry eyes, just eagerly waiting for the mishap to happen. What should you do?

Folding your hand in to a ball of fist, you hit Tammy's head as punishment for his mischief. Your maid makes a derpy yelp when the fist lands and she holds her head with both of her hands.

"W-What? That hurt!" your maid says rubbing her head.

"I do not remember assigning you as a jester in my castle," you reply looking at Tammy with a frown. "I certainly do not keep you around for mischief. What are you, a goblin? Go help my poor Teacher!"

With a tiny sigh and a few seconds more of rubbing her head, Tammy goes inside to help Rorona out. She walks next to the struggling girl and gently takes the plate from her.

"Here here, Lady Rorona, I'll take it from here," Tammy says. Your maid quickly moves to Raymund's table and sets up the drinks as you yourself walk inside the office. You take a glance at Rorona who takes a breath of relief.

"...Ummm..." your cousin says looking up, shifting eyes between the three of you. He is clearly confused.

"What is going on? All I asked for was some tea; I do not think we need three people for that..."

"It is nothing really," you tell your cousin with a bright smile. "I just came for a visit and these fellows were just about to leave. Off you go you two!" you say as you push your two "maids" away from the office and out of the door. The two girls are relieved to be out of the situation and they voluntarily leave quickly.

Your cousin raises a brow as you turn back to him. He stares for a few seconds, and you just smile back at him. With a slight shrug, your cousin takes the cup prepared by Tammy and takes a sip.

"Oh, by the way Princess," your cousin says. "Have you taken a look at the map of Lucedonia? Our kingdom has remained out of politics and diplomacy for a while... But perhaps that may change. It might do you good to overview this," Raymund says.

You walk next to Raymund's chair and in front of him is a map next to all the stack of papers he's been working on.

...The information is a bit too much for your to handle. But you spot the location of your city and attempt to decipher the thing.

"Do you have any questions about a particular place?" Raymund asks. Perhaps it may be a good time to gain some knowledge of your neighbors or some of the topography.

You scratch your chin at the various cities located around the map. Deciding it would be best to know about the neighbors surrounding you, you question Raymund about the territories of Salsburg, Twin River, Linwall, Priveria, Freeport and the eastern looking land of High Crescent.

"Ahh yes... Salsburg," Raymund says with a mutter. "It has been decades but our kingdoms have clashed in the past. It began with border disputes and trades which turned to skirmishes without significant gains from either side. Salsburg is a relatively small kingdom like ours ours, but slightly bigger. It has a king, but the king is more of a puppet the Council of Five; nobles of the city. The Council typically makes decisions.

Twin River City as the name suggests is located right between the converging two rivers. It is a land dotted by many forests around it. Many elves and humans live alongside one another. It is a republic, headed by the Grand Governor. The Grand Governor is chosen by votes once the previous one passes away, of if the previous one chooses to retire.

Linwall... It is a huge city full of architect and tall buildings. A so called self-proclaimed "emperor" heads the kingdom, though no one takes him seriously. The land has not been united for a thousand years and no one acknowledges an emperor in this land. The man heading Linwall is said to be a bumbling fool...

Priveria is what people call The City of Mercenaries. Many people and trade caravans hire mercenaries from the city when they travel through the Equus Plains where bands of nomads may attack, or when wars start. A king resides there, but even he cannot match the power of the many large mercenary guilds in the area.
>>
>>42998964
Freeport is the largest trade city of this land. It makes trade from the eastern land of Yayoi. You know, the land of the rising sun as some people call it. The Merchant's Guild rules the city and money is power there. Many goods like rice and eastern exotic wares make the city thrive.

And High Crescent, or as someone people would call The Land of Magic. It is well known as the city of scholars and magicians and many people who have the money travel there to learn. Believing in knowledge and peace, it has always strayed from the wars of the mainland. It is a Queendom and has always been ruled by females,” Raymund finally finishes taking another sip of tea.

...That is a lot of information. Too much to process and you begin to feel dizzy from the dump of information that just went in your head. Perhaps though you want to learn more... Do you have any further questions for your kingdom?

The republic is probably the most likely to be persuaded into trade and alliance, though its politics means that we would have to be on our toes with them.

Freeport we could probably set up a crown sponsored trade company in time there, to both increase trade and taxes, and our political relations. High Crescent is most likely to be very neutral overall, although if the queen has a bachalor son it might be a good way to secure an alliance, since his home politics means he wont end on the throne as is.

You ask Raymund about what kingdoms you should watch out for and what would make good allies.

"We would definitely need to be weary of Salsburg. Old feuds do not die off. I do not think we could make diplomacy with Linwall, the 'emperor' there would most likely want us to submit towards him. Twin River City on the other hand could make a good ally and I would suspect it would be open to trade agreements. We could possibly open more trade agreements with Freeport, but remember as I said that the city of merchants value money above all. Unless we have something of significance to offer, we might as well be laughed off."

You nod at the information. You are already of mind to improve the military in case Salsburg ever attacks, but you haven't yet made any thoughts on diplomacy. Perhaps you can visit one of the other kingdoms or send an envoy instead. Your presence in person would be more respectful to the lords of other kingdoms, but who knows what danger you could face?

"Thank you lord cousin," you say anyway, leaving decisions to later. "Do you have any other concerns?" you ask him.

"Yes..." Raymund says now sullenly. "I recently heard about Barrington and his brazen attitude. Did things go that badly with that sorry excuse for a man?"

You look at Raymund and he seems visibly irritated as he talks about Barrington.

"Yes! The nerve of the man!" you say to Raymund, angrily waving your hand in the air and puffing your cheeks. "He came to my room without even knocking or informing a servant. He kept badgering me about repealing my court being open to the people. And when he left he passive-aggressively warned me! Why, just the thought of that man..." you say making a stamp of your foot.

Raymund places a hand on his chin and he looks down in a small worried matter.

"Just as I suspected..." Raymund says. "When your lord father was king, that man was the one who held significant power at court and was always attempting to get close to the king. I know several times he even asked for your hand in marriage, but your father adamantly refused. He is a man not to be trusted... And I fear he may have motives for the throne."

Raymund taps a few fingers on the table and bites a finger on the other hand.

"Princess, Barrington is one of the most powerful nobles. He holds riches and even has a hundred men under his service. I would think that behind the scenes he may be trying to makes allies amongst the other nobles. I think we may need to keep our guard up, keep our military in shape, and make certain we have the support of other nobles..."

You cross your arms and you think to yourself for a moment. According to your cousin, Barrington may be more trouble than first anticipated. A small sense of nervousness goes through you as you begin to realize even more now that ruling is a difficult task.

"Yes, I agree," you tell Raymund. "You suggested shaping up our military and gaining the support of other nobles?"

"Yes, Raymund says with a nod. "You may want to visit the other nobles. Perhaps throw a banquet and court some favors. Or you may send them gifts. Though it irks me to think we have to play games with those worms and for you to be forced to curry favors with them... I do not think we have much of a choice. You may also want to hire more soldiers just in case."

You talk a bit more with Raymund before you depart the room. It seems there are many other tasks that have now befallen you... You make your way to your office and now think of something to do for your kingdom.

You realized that you have yet to make friends or gain support with the nobles in your past month of befriending the common people. As Raymund said, the nobles are a fickle lot and it would likely be different in gaining their support than the lower classes. Parties, socializing, visits...

While you do not have much knowledge on other nobles, you do remember a certain guard called Cecile was from a minor noble family. The girl seemed like a good enough sort and you think that if you would want to make friends with nobles, it would be with people like her. You decide to pay Cecile a visit at the barracks once again.

You head to the side of the castle and you go through the familiar wooden gates once more in to the barracks. It does not take long for you to find the plate-armored girl training with other guards.

"Come on! Get serious!" you hear the girl yell at another guard. The same gruff man that was slacking off last time.

"Ugh... Cecile you're too strong. Can't we just say you won?"

"It's not about winning, it's about keeping up in shape in case the Princess needs us! Or if villains come, or if another army invades us!"

The gruff guard and other men groan at the energetic girl. It seems not all of them are as enthusiastic for the routine training.

It was an older version play now impossible to duplicate due to vassal limits brought in. My realm was easily the size of an empire, but due to various reasons (like de jure drift) I wanted to run a kingdom. So I was a king with roughly fourty dukes as my vassals and about three quarters of the duchies de jure drifted under the single existing kingdom title. Anyhow, this thread is not the /grand strategy general/.

Not really much of an authoritative figure, you walk up the guards and greet them rather than berate them for their lack of motivation. The circle of guards argue with Cecile until you arrive in front of them with a wave of your hand a gentle smile.

"Hello everyone," you say kindly. "I hope everything here is fine?"

"Oh sh- It's the Princess!"

The guards quickly rise and salute. Their previous attitude of taking it easy disappears when you arrive and the lazy group quickly turn attentive.

"Everything is fine, m'lady! We were just about to train! See? Ralph, Brock, let's run a lap around the tracks!" the gruff guard says turning the other men who nod quickly and begin jogging off.

"You weren't training, you were slacking off!" Cecile protests.

"Ahahaha, always the kidder that little one," the gruff guard says with a nervous laughter. "We're always ready to serve under your command m'lady. And we train hard every day!"

"Really?" you exclaim with hands clasped in the air. "Then mayhaps would would you show me a sparring match? I would love to see how soldiers fight!" you say with stars on your eyes.

Cecile and the gruff guard are set twenty feet from each other. Cecile is armed with a heavy shield and training lance, while the guard is equipped with a training sword and buckler. You take a look at Cecile who has on a determined face and is poised for battle. The other man on the other hand looks horrified at the thought of facing the girl.

And it seems the guard was right to be horrified. When the spar starts, Cecile charges with her shield raise up and lance in the front air. Despite her small stature it is incredible how hard and fast the girl moves. Like some kind of huge carriage at full speed with four horses on the tow, Cecile is like a huge building being launched straight. The girl easily knocks the man over and down.

“Come on, get up!” Cecile says.

“E-Easy for you to say!” the guard complains as he gets up. The man grips his sword tight and begins making attacks at Cecile.

The girl is easily able to block the man's attacks with her shield. With a strong swing of her lance she hits the gruff guard across the head and down the man goes again.

Superheros you should stop the spar? The man seems rather punished enough.

Despite the beating the poor guard has received thus far in the one-sided match, you cheer the soldier on and encourage him to fight.

"Come on! You can do it Mr.Soldier!" you yell with your hands cupped to your mouth. The guard gets up and scratches the back of his head.

"Errr... Frankly m'lady, I think I'm beat..." he says.

"Do not say that! Never give up!" you say fist in the air. The poor soldier looks like he's about to burst in to tears as you yell enthusiastically for the spar to continue. You think for a slight moment you might as well let the guard go now, seeing the depressed look on his face.

"Oh wait, I know!" you say stamping your first in to one hand as you gain a brilliant idea. "Sir, let me help you with my magic. I know a bit of support magic and let us see if you can fare better. Is that okay Cecile?" you ask turning to the girl.

"Yes, whatever the Princess commands!" Cecile says with a nod.

The guard gets up again and readies his sword and shield. With a nod to the man, you begin chanting a spell. You use a support spell that gives courage to others and a red wave of light goes over to the man.

The guard seems surprised as he looks at himself. The spell works however as he now puts on a determined face and goes off to fight Cecile. With a jump he begins attack Cecile again who blocks the swing of swords.

You begin casting another spell, this time to increase the agility and speed of the soldier. You chant once again cast your magic to the man. Almost like a new man, the guard begins attacking faster and quicker.

"Ah!" Cecile lets out small shout in surprise when the man actually connects his sword to Cecile's shoulder. The guard jumps back and begins panting, quite tired from the ordeal.

*Pant* *Pant* "Ahahaha, who's the boss now!" the guard brags. "I am! Prepare yourself Cecile, the day of reckon-"

Cecile charges and with a thrust of her shield forward knocks the man over again.

The fight ends in due time. Despite your magic Cecile still wins against the guard, but your spells at least gave him a fighting chance. It seems despite the buffs of yours that work, Cecile is by far better skilled and has trained more seriously in her life. Not all things can be saved my magic, you think to yourself.

The guard is carried away by the other men. Cecile comes running to you and looks at you in surprise.

“Princess, you know magic? That was quite amazing m'lady!” she exclaims.

While you may have acted a bit arrogant and prideful with Rorona, you keep your manners in check in front of Cecile and the others. You act polite and humble this time, though your chest still fills with some pride that your magic actually works.

"It is nothing, just something I learned from my teacher," you say with a smile. "Without her help I would have never made it."

"It seems like you have very good people around you," Cecile says with a laugh. "I know a lot of people in town like you. And the guards may seem a little grumpy but I'm sure they're glad that you keep paying visits here."

"And I am glad you are under my service as well, Cecile," you respond with a bright smile.

"Aww shucks, you're just saying that," Cecile says with embarrassment and a rub of her neck. "But anyway did you just come to say hello to the guards? Or were you making another round of inspection? We already received the sets of new armor the other day. Definitely better than the tattered ones we've had before."

Seeing the impeccable hard-working girl, you wonder if you should give her some reward for her service so far. You think that perhaps eating at the castle might be good. Besides, talking things over with Cecile and eating together also fits with your goal in making friends with other nobles.

"Cecile, you have been working hard," you say to the girl. "Would you like to eat the castle with me?"

"Eh?" the small girl looks surprised. "W-Well I couldn't... I wouldn't want to impose, especially for a simple guard like me..."

"It would not be trouble at all" you reply with a shake of her head. "In fact, it would be slightly hurtful if you were to refuse. I think you deserve something small as a dinner for all your hard work."

"I see," Cecile says with a nod and smile. "Well I certainly can't say no to the Princess. I'll come by the palace on the eve... For now I need to complete my duties and finish up the patrol in town." Cecile bows to you before running off with a wave of her hand.

What kind of food do you want set on the table?
>>

Include something with crabs as one of the dishes.
>>

Focus on national dishes, the new wines and crabs as well. Basically show off those to some degree. After that put goods from the republic on the table as well, it would be a nice opener to telling our vassals our intend to extend a hand of freindship and trade by which we can all profit.

You go over to the kitchen and discuss with the chefs on what to make for the night's dinner. The recent crab and wine trade comes to mind and you ask the chef to make some form of dish with those. Also wondering what people eat over at Twin Rivers, you ask the chef for some dishes over there.

With the preparations for the food done you invite the other vassals for dinner thinking that it would help the others get along. And why not a dinner with all the family together?

Two hours in the dining table at the castle is set up. The room to eat is set on the highest part of the castle with some open balconies on the side. Torches are lit so the room won't get too cold. The table is tremendously long, typically for a string of guests and nobles. But for this night you decide only to eat with those close to you. Boiled crabs with tarter sauce, a large plate of boar meat, braised salmon in stew, and some salad with vinaigrette is set upon the table. The aroma of the food actually makes your stomach grumble.

Tammy comes first and she sits on the table closest to you. She eyes and the food and her hand reaches out with a drool.

As Tammy reaches for a crab leg you quickly rush up and slap away her hand. You find yourself hungry and wanting food just like her, but if you can wait for the others so can she!

"Mind your manners Tammy!" you exclaim. "The others have yet to arrive!"

"Uhwooo... You hate me don't you Princess," Tammy whines as she pretends to act dead on her chair. Tammy will be Tammy.

Rorona comes next and smelling the food in the air she exclaims how hungry she is. Rorona reaches for a boar leg but her hand is slapped away by Tammy.

"Eh? Why!?"
"If I'm forced to starve, you will too!"
"No fair!"

You palm your face at the two girls. Perhaps it is because they're not nobles that they act in a casual manner and lack the etiquette of nobles. Or perhaps the three of you are at least comfortable with one another to act that way.

Cecile soon arrives and she greets you with a salute. Instead of her armor she has on normal clothes now with a long-sleeve wool shirt and dark slacks. You happily welcome her and introduce her to the others.

"Oh, are you the teacher that the Princess was talking about?" she says speaking with Rorona. "The Princess told me you are one of the best mages around and it was only through your tutelage she was able to learn magic, it's finally good to meet you."

"Eh? The Princess said that? I-I'm so touched..." Rorona says as small tears begin to form in her eyes. It seems the they're getting along just fine.

A few more minutes pass but your cousin has not shown up yet. You start to grow hungry and the others seem to want food as well.

You refuse to start eating without your cousin and you continue to wait. A few more minutes pass and you wonder perhaps that he may not be coming at all. The man acts strictly on business and matter-of-fact, perhaps he is not the type to eat with others.

But as soon as you start to worry the door opens and your cousin arrives as well. He sighs a bit and speaks.

"Apologies, I was finishing up the last of the papers. With last month's taxes there were a lot more work than I expected."

"No problem," you say with a smile, happy that he wasn't refusing to come. "We were all waiting for you, please come sit."

"Ahhh... You were all waiting? I am terribly sorry," he says slightly embarrassed. But you can see what seems to be a smallest hint of a smile. He is likely appreciative of the fact that you were considerate enough to wait the dinner.

Raymund seats himself and you nod for the dinner to go. Tammy and Rorona dig in to the food and they make yelps of ecstasy at the high-quality food. Cecile and Raymund on the other eat more politely as would befit nobles.

"Ahhh, Lady Rorona..." Raymund says. "I umm... How do I say this... This morn I mistook you for a maid. I found out that you were a tutor to Lady Ornesia and a retainer here. I... am terribly sorry once again," he says in a low gruff voice, clearly embarrassed.

"Oh! N-no it wasn't your fault! I shouldn't have been wearing the uniform in the first place. I should be the one to apologize," Rorona says in a small frantic. The two quickly make amends and all seems to be in good order.

The dinner goes at a good place and chatter is all around. Typically the host of noble parties are on constant interactions with guests. What conversation do you bring up with the others?

Well, since there's time to kill, anybody wanna talk about the direction we wanna take our Linette? Like what skills we think we could take or use?

One mentioned earlier was cooking and that could work out I think rather well with the 'everybody loves me' image we are kinda aiming at. Though I was also thinking we could give dancing a try. Might even be able to hold and take part in noble ballroom dancing parties for whatever occasion. You guys have any to add or want to look into?

You gently break apart a piece of crab leg and you take out the white meat soaked in red and brown spices. When you take a bit a river of flavors go through your mouth and you cannot help but think bringing these crabs in to sell was a good idea.

"How is the food everyone?" you ask.

"I never tasted anything so good. This is heaven!" Tammy says.
"I never really had luxurious food but I could get used to this," Rorona chimes in.
"Quite delicious," Raymund says simply.

The dinner goes on and light chatter ensues. As you all begin finishing the plates and small cake rolls are brought in you decide to finally ask how everyone is doing so far in the kingdom.

"Princess, I'm really thankful you brought me in," Rorona says with a small bow. "There were times when work and traveling was hard... Uhwooo just remembering the days where I sometimes had to starve makes me tummy ache..." the pink-haired girl says looking depressed for a moment. "But really, I'm grateful. If there is anything else I can help you with, that would be great."

"Life has become a little more hard, but I cannot complain," Raymund says. "If we could see this kingdom grow, if we could become a place worth mentioning in the history books, and if more talented individuals would come serve us, I think that I could pass away in this life peacefully," Raymund says in a somewhat melancholic voice.

"I can see a lot that this group is like a family," Cecile says with a smile. "I'm sure with the Princess leading the kingdom we can see it flourish."

The people at the table nod in confirmation to Cecile's words.

"Mmm yes, the kingdom has recently opened new trades and I believe I did the right thing in opening the court for petitions from the populace. But... It just seems there are some people that disagree, especially the nobility," you say with a sigh and a hand placed on your cheeks. "Has my policy proven that much controversial?"

"In some retrospective, yes," Raymund replies. "It depends on what part of the land you go to, but our kingdom has long has had a long history of having aristocracy around the ruler. The stubborn nobles see the common people being heard and listened to as signs of a break in power."

"I... think you did the right thing as well," Cecile says with a bit of a frown. "To be honest there are some families that voice their discontent. The nerve of them, going against the throne. B-Bit there are those that support you and remain loyal as well Princess. You can be sure to count on me," Cecile says with determination on her face.

"The three greatest noble families here are Barrington, Tasse, and Yules. I do the think we shall have a problem with the latter two, but Barrington already voices discontent. I would say... Half the nobility may be with Barrington."

"Lady Ornesia, I'm sure if you would just talk with them and make them understand what you are doing they can understand!" Cecile declares. The empty plates of cake are collected by the servants.

"...Well, we can discuss further in another time. Let us not sully the end of the meal with talks of politics," Raymund says as he gets up. "Thank you for dinner Princess. But I believe that should conclude the night."

The others agree and rise from the table. Cecile thanks you for the dinner before she leaves and Tammy draws you a bath for the night. You have no doubts that Cecile is loyal and will continue to serve well. If perhaps you can befriend the other noble families as you did with her you can obtain their support.

You still intend to focus on building up your relationship with other families. Raymund stated that the other two great families in Seraphia were the Tasse and Yules. You decide to gather some information and talking about the family.

The Tasse family is currently led by a girl named Claire. Though her father is still alive it seems this girl now leads and represents the family while her father spends time in leisure. Claire is said to be very well-bred, mature, and polite individual. The Tasse family is know for owning several clothing stores and it is said that the other nobles love their brand.

The Yules family is led by an old man named Zoran. Zoran is said to be bit of an oddball, very bombastic and loud. The family has a tradition of sending their sons and daughters to squire for other lords and knights. They are told only to come back once they achieve knighthood. Honor is important to them.

Perhaps you can try visiting these two. You also remember the girl you met when you took the throne; Vivian. She was sweet and kind, perhaps you can visit her though she is minor noble.

Or perhaps you can try other ways to mingle with the nobles, like throwing parties and the like.

You decide to pay a visit to the Tasse family thinking that talking with a girl of your age might be easier to talk to. With the entourage of a few guards you head to the estate of the Tasse family.

The Tasse estate is in the finer districts of the city. Unlike the other parts of Seraphia, the houses and area of the nobles are much more grand. Stone roads, groomed bushes and flowers, clean-kept ground. One of the bigger estates surrounded by an iron fence and a marvelous water fountain at the entrance is the Tasse residence.

You walk to the gates where a butler greets you. When you tell him who you are he immediately opens and apologizes for the inconvenience. When you ask him for Claire, he shakes his head.

"Unfortunately Lady Claire is out at the moment overseeing her stores. I am afraid you would have to wait Princess. Though, Lord Tasse is around the estate. Would you like to see him?

You inform the butler that you would be fine meeting the father for now. The butler nods and leads you in to the mansion. The place is large and grand with great decors of rugs, antiquities, and painting. It might perhaps even look more grand than your castle which is a bit dusty and old now that you think about it. Perhaps you should improve the castle if you want to show the image of a powerful ruler or impress people who visit.

In any case you are led to the dining table where an old man with a large belly is eating at the table. On his hand is a drumstick and he seems quite intend on enjoying his food. When the butler announces tour arrival to him by his ear, the man stands up.

"Eh? Really? The Princess is here? Oh my..." he stammers as he wipes his brows with a napkin and cleans his hands. The man skitters over to you clumsily.
