You are Urist Twelfthbay, the moe personification of Dwarf Fortress and a short, sturdy creature fond of drink and industry. Regrettably, you're not some epitome of dwarven prowess worth of your title; instead, that just makes you a beardless little girl, because you live in Gamindustri (where EVERYONE of worth is a Japanese teenager). Still-

... oh. Right. You're not actually in Gamindustri anymore, now are you?

Another explosion rocks Mojang's little hidey-hole, and you duck your head reflexively. Grudgingly, you have to admit that your surrogate little sister chose a fairly good defensive position against those... those flying laser-shooting balls of light. The overhang above your heads protects you from bombing runs, you've got your backs to a hillock, and your positioning forces your opponents to angle their shots in a way that makes it easy for Mojang to block 'em with her sword.

Of course, the only way to counterattack from this hidey-hole WITHOUT getting blown the fuck up is to fire off crossbow bolts or rush at them faster than they can aim at you; Mojang's straight out of bolts and she's not exactly in stellar condition right now, so both options ain't gonna work. Granted, /you/ got in here by carving straight through those will-o'-wisps, but...

You peer up out of the hidey-hole. It's not your imagination: despite the fact that you'd carved through dozens of the things, more of those damned flying shining light balls are drifting in. If this keeps up, they'll replenish their numbers in, like, half a minute.

"It's- it's you! It's really you! I can't- I can't believe-"

The only reason you even ran down here, to be trapped like rats in a fireworks factory, is because of Mojang, who looks pretty damn good for being half-dead. Hell, the Minecrafter looks so happy she could hug you- and knowing her, she'd ALREADY be hugging you, if not for how close contact apparently causes severe static electricity.

"O-Oneechan~..." With a start, you realize that the redhead's on the brink of crying at you, her eyes filled with unshed tears (and you can tell THAT since her eyes are big and shiny and wobbling more than a nauseous dwarf). You start digging through your inventory, trying not to look at her.

Idiot- of COURSE you're really here, you growl. It doesn't take you long to pull out the snow-white shape of the Health Pack you spent so long digging out of that ridiculous Leanbox ruin, and you sort of push it in her general direction. You promised that you'd come to visit her, right?

Mojang laughs shakily, wiping at her eyes before taking the healing item. She concentrates briefly, and the Health Pack shines briefly before turning gray- man, she really HAS gone all Leanbox native on you. "You did! It's just- I didn't think that would extend to outer space..."

Hah. Don't underestimate-

"- stubborn dwarven grit!" Mojang finishes for you, a sunny smile on her lips. "Okay, I guess that one's on me, huh?"

You take a moment to look her over. Seems like she's got her energy back; she's straightened up like she just shed a weight off her shoulders, and- it might be a figment of your imagination, but you swear that she looks more /colorful/, like someone took a grayscale filter off her or something. Looks like the Health Pack did its job and purged whatever the hell Arfoire did to her.

Something surges up in your heart- pride or happiness or sheer relief that your friend's okay, you can't tell- and impulsively, you reach out to clasp hands with Mojang. Nothing unseemly- it's like, y'know, how people clasp hands immediately before arm-wrestling or some shit like that.

You're pretty sure holding hands doesn't usually result in a gigantic surge of power crashing through the both of you, like you've both become a conduit of power for something more than the sum of your parts. For a brief moment, the world (or the goddess-forsaken hell between dimensions, whatever) fades away into a brilliant pure featureless void, leaving behind only you and Mojang staring at each other with wide eyes, your ears filled with the joyous chiming of... church bells?

And then you're back in your hidey-hole, surrounded by those will-o'-wisps and... something else. The scent of gunpowder suddenly permeates /everything/, and you can't see out of the cave; standing in front of you, facing down your opponents, is a great big mass of green dappled hide, writhing as it orients itself properly, and there's just-

There's just this horrible, horrible hissing sound that has the hackles on the back of your neck rising.

>The forgotten beast Hzsit Sssszzshi has come! A great quadrupedal creeper. It has four great arms and is wreathed in a halo of electricity. Beware its deadly dust!

Whatever it is you've created is off like a shot, throwing itself into the flock of will-o'-wisps like a wolf among sheep. Those that stand and fight are engulfed in some sort of explosive dust devil, the light of their bodies briefly flaring like stars before going supernova, detonating like fireworks; those that try to run are immediately hunted down as the THING unleashes hordes and hordes of Mojang's trademark creepers, the bipedal variety that only (only!) explodes with enough force to level stone-reinforced buildings.

So. Yeah. You're staring out at a literal warzone, complete with enough ordnance to turn this entire floating island into a faint memory. The only thing that seems to be saving you is that 1) your collective summon hadn't been corrupted by whatever it is this place has, and 2) the forgotten beast and its creepers don't appear to be hostile to you.

Mojang hasn't let go of you, and you sure as hell aren't letting go- you're both sort of clinging onto each other in mild terror, staring out at the chaos you have unintentionally wrought. She says something to you, but it's kind of impossible to hear ANYTHING over the explosions.

>[X] [DIG A BUNKER]

As much as you'd love to stay and watch the horrific rampage of you and Mojang's lovechild spawned by platonically pure hand-holding, you've spent far too much effort keeping the two of you alive to give up now. You try telling Mojang that you've got a plan, get as far as the first two words before realizing that neither of you can actually hear the other, and then just sort of start dragging your friend along until she gets the general idea.

Okay, so your big dumb lovechild doesn't show any signs of hostility right now. Same goes for the creepers it's barfing up. However, you ARE very damn sure that explosions really don't give a shit about friendly fire, so the minute you run out there, you're both going to get blown into smithereens.

On the other hand, staying here in this dinky-ass cave is a recipe for disaster; this battlefield's making enough racket to drown out even the hyperdimension's constant background noises. You have absolutely no guarantee that there isn't anything bigger and badder than these will-o'-wisps floating around out there, and if anything's guaranteed to attract them, it's this fight.

What you're getting at is that it's time to whip out your picks and shovels, because it's time to dig a goddamned bunker.

Normally, you and Mojang? You'd have a lot to talk about while you're both shifting the earth. Between breaths, you'd gossip, shoot the breeze, and generally poke fun at each other; when you're both tired, you just keep digging in a sort of companionable silence.

But even down here, the racket from above drowns out anything you try to say to each other, and you're both just trying to dig out a space far enough from the battlefield that a sudden cave-in won't kill you both. And on top of THAT, the fucked-up gravity's playing havoc on your attempts to dig: what should be a straight tunnel suddenly forces you into the ceiling as you hit a brief patch of reversed gravity, and so on and so forth.

Eventually, you're both far enough away from the battle that you can actually hear yourselves think. Mojang's the first one to sit down heavily, breathing hard from the exertion (and recovering from dark goddess juju can't have helped); after a moment, you join her, leaning your back against hers for support. Just like the old days.

...

She's grown taller again, hasn't she.

"Huh? I have?" You feel Mojang turning her head, although she gives up since she keeps running up against your braids and is probably too damn tired to stand up. "No way! I mean, I don't think I've changed at all! It's only been... um, a few months since we last saw each other, right...?"

Mmhm. She's... she's changed. Guess all that time in Leanbox was good for her.

"Y-You too." There's a pause. "I mean... you've changed, too."

If she's saying you got shorter, you swear to Armok-

"No, nothing like that! It's like... you're more confident. Calmer. It's a good change."

A few awkward moments slip away as the both of you contemplate this. Thankful that Mojang can't see you, you bite down on one knuckle and stare fixedly at your feet, willing your embarrassment to go the fuck away before you beat the everloving shit out of it.

... okay. You're good now.

Also, guys. I'd like to point out a couple things.
1: Exey should be around here somewhere, if everyone who was born in the graveyard got sent here. We should try to find her.
2: Since we're no longer inside the universe, and thus won't cause existence to end when we do it, we should immediately attempt to Planepacked as soon as we can.

We're immune to the brain melting physics of DF shit. We can look at the quantum stockpile and not go insane for example.
The problem was if anyone else in Gamindustri looked it at, it would cause a critical existence failure.
However, we are currently outside of the universe and generally the only people here are the Graveyard games and Arfore's minions. We should be fine.

>[X] [WHAT HAPPENED]

Goddamn. The first time you've had a chance to talk face-to-face (or back-to-back) with Mojang in literally forever. You only wish that it could take place under more /normal/ circumstances and, y'know, when the biggest question you have WON'T end up dredging up horrible memories of being captured by the biggest evil Gamindustri's ever known. Now, how to phrase it without-

"Hmm... you're trying to ask about what happened to me, right?"

You're honestly not surprised that Mojang correctly interprets your awkwardly hesitant silence, but still taken off-guard enough that you can't help but nod. She takes your hand and squeezes it reassuringly; you only relax when that act /doesn't/ create lightning and/or ungodly abominations from beyond space and time.

"It's okay, oneechan. It... it wasn't /that/ bad!" Somehow, Mojang senses your doubt and plows on. "I mean, sure, I couldn't move, but my captor talked to me, and she made sure I had enough to eat and drink!"

If you didn't know her better, you'd assume she'd ended up in some sort of Stockholm syndrome hell. Instead, you just half-heartedly curse her out for being such a goddamned optimist. Still, given that she was in ARFOIRE'S clutches, it could've been a lot worse.

... right. There's a good chance she doesn't know who was behind all this, so you clear your throat. Uh, speaking of captors-

"That's right-!" Mojang cuts you off, suddenly squeezing your hand so hard that your gauntlet creaks worryingly. "Oneechan, we have to get back to Gamindustri! It was Arfoire who captured me, the dark goddess's coming back and-"

It's your turn to cut her off. Yeah, you know- you've bumped into her lackeys a few times already. It's... well, it's a long story, and you can tell her all about it when you're both safe and sound back at 'Hyperdimension'-

"You- you built a fort here??"

(Cont.)
>>
>>43045399
You snort, both at Mojang's awed surprise and to downplay the surge of pride it gives you. It's more like you had a fort in Leanbox, and it kinda followed you here. You don't give any fucks about the hows or the whys; really, it's enough that you have a safe haven in this stupid place.

You can hear the big grin on your surrogate little sister's face, and she tilts her head back to bump it against yours. "As expected of oneechan!" she chirrups warmly.

L-Look! Anyway! You're both getting off-track! What the hell was Arfoire trying to do, anyway? She didn't mess you up, right?

That's enough to get Mojang sober again, but not enough to have her stop holding your hand. "I'm not sure. She always came in while I was unconscious, and from what Freddie told me-" right, that lackey with the puppets "- she scanned me somehow. She's... she's looking for something, but not even Freddie would tell me what Arfoire's looking for. All I know is that it's something only a few adventurers in Gamindustri have."

Goosebumps prickle up your arm as you consider this for a moment. Exey's warning (or maybe Maia's warning, via Exey) comes back to you, something about how you have to do goddamned everything in your power to stay out of Arfoire's grasp. You'd bet anything that Arfoire's little scavenger hunt has everything to do with that.

Not that you tell this to Mojang, of course. Not yet. Maybe when you're back at the fort, or can figure out what the hell's going on. Seriously, what the hell do YOU have that everyone else doesn't, aside from crippling bugs?

(Cont.)
>>
>>43045412
>crippling bugs

NOT BUGS!

Undocumented features.
>>
>>43045412
Mojang's about to say something else, but she pauses, tilting her head as she listens to something. "Oneechan-"

Way ahead of her. The noise upstairs has died back down to the usual ambient levels of galactic bass thumping.

Quietly, the two of you make your way back up to the entrance of your bunker (more like a winding tunnel capped by a tiny room), and peek out from underneath that little overhang. A crater-pocked field of will-o'-wisp remains stretches before your eyes; in death, they don't give very much of a glow, and the sad little scraps fade into nothingness as you continue watching.

The forgotten beast of a creeper, however, is perched smack-dab in the middle of the floating island you're all standing on, squatting down like a brooding hen. 'Course, most hens aren't surrounded by an entire flock of creepers. On the plus side, these monsters (of your own creation) don't seem to have seen you yet.

[ ] [SNEAK ON BY] You and Mojang are doing /really well/ so far. No need to take unnecessary risks; the sooner you make it away from this horrible, horrible island, the better.

Mojang swallows heavily, squinting at the forgotten creeper. "Okay, oneechan-"

Come to think of it, she's been calling you that a lot more lately. The fact that it's taken you this long to notice really says a lot.

"- we'll run past them on the count of three, okay? One, two-"

No, wait, hold on. You stare out at the monster; years and years of dwarven ingenuity kick-start the gears in your mind, and you narrow your eyes thoughtfully. You can use this.

"O... oneechan?"

Think about it! If you can capture that thing and keep it on your property, what does she think will happen?

Mojang's side-eyeing you now, like she always does when she thinks you've cottoned onto a terrible idea but is way too nice to say it straight-up. "Um... we'll end up with really, really big holes blown into the fortress?" she hazards. "Oneechan, we tried this before, remember?"

Yes, but that was with /normal/ creepers! Not this big summoned thing that was created by, uh... holding hands.

"I don't know. If a creeper of that size goes all hostile on us..."

You reach over and take your friend's shoulder, trying to pitch your voice to sound as reassuring as possible. C'mon, Mojang. The two of you summoned a hell of a thing, right? There was that weird void, and it was just the two of you, and it was all really goddamned pure, right?

Mojang bites her lip and nods, saying nothing in response.

So it just goes to reason that that'd be one hell of a different monster, right? Something that'll treat both of you as its masters?

"Or its moth- um, I mean... yes?"

Right. That's the spirit. Now c'mon, let's go capture this thing.

* * *

Two and a half minutes later, both you and Mojang soar through the seemingly endless void, galaxies and stars swirling in front of your eyes and ears still ringing from the chain of catastrophic explosions that may or may not have reduced that floating island (now very definitively the CREEPERS' floating island) to a cratered hell.

Mojang, still clinging onto you for dear life and because getting separated in the hyperdimensional void seems like a bad idea, rests her chin on your head, and you can't help but have flashbacks to a certain Dragon Warrior. "Oneechan-" she begins.

You stretch your legs, just barely catching the edge of the next nearest floating island, and set Mojang back down before turning to glare at the Creepers' Floating Island. The forgotten creeper's still perched smack-dab in the middle of its island, although it's sort of sitting in the middle of a crater. Look, it was a perfectly logical plan in hindsight, you growl.

"Oneechan-"

But yeah, Mojang was right. We- we really shouldn't have tried that. Or rather, maybe you should try it when you've got more reinforcements, like minions or whoever else you can rustle up in this goddamned place-

"ONEECHAN!" Mojang raises her voice; it's not something that happens everyday, and it's more than enough to shut you up. "Look at the creeper!"

You squint, trying to focus on the forgotten beast. You're just about to ask what Mojang's on about when your eyes finally catch something glinting underneath it. A galaxy or something spins above you, and that sheds enough light for you to realize, like a goddamned punch to the gut, exactly what it is you're looking at:

Sharicite. The forgotten creeper is sitting on the biggest lode of sharicite you've ever seen in your entire goddamned life, revealed by the terrain getting absolutely wrecked by all those explosions.

Okay, that's about all I've got time for tonight; apologies for the late start and the shorter than usual thread, guys.

Next thread will... well, I'll try for a thread on Wednesday, 10/14, also roughly at about 9:30-ish pm EST, but that's very iffy. If not, I should be able to do the next thread on the week of 10/18.

I'll keep you all updated about scheduling on https://twitter.com/BlorpQuest, and questions can go here or ask.fm/BlorpQuest!

Thanks for participating, guys, and hope to catch you next time!

...

I should be done with the bonus scene in... about a week? We'll see! The winning vote for that, by the way, was BLANC, followed by a close second for ROKKO, so it'll be focused on the both of them! I'll have to figure out whether to write about their past or what's going on in Gamindustri after the Red Ring of Death went off. We'll see!

This is where Urist discovers she had accidentally glitched an old HDD from one of the old fallen goddesses of long ago into her code back during her early days in the graveyard. It layed dormant inside her own code, needing a dwarven shitload of sharicite to reactivate. Thus Urist became an equivalent of a CPU candidate.

She of course hates the transformed skintight outfit that comes with its power up.
