Hahah.
Ahh.

That's the stuff.
See, when you need to talk about sensitive information; drinking is always the way to go. No one cares what a few drunks are discussing among the chaos, and the information is usually most truthful this way.

You are Jack Albator, daring sailor, supreme captain, and you're starting to feel the burn from the ichor in your mug. Thankfully, you've always been a heavy drinker.
You know who hasn't been a heavy drinking all of her life? Yuuki.

She brought you to the bar recently on a not-date to discuss something extremely important. She was having problems even discussing the details with you, so you suggested alcohol like any self-respecting man would to a lady who is having problems getting something off of her chest.
Of course, this may have come with some downsides.

"And you know what what I hate the most?!" Yuuki slams her palm onto the table. "If my DAD was here he wouldn't let boys prance around in nightgowns. BOYS would learn swords and GIRLS would learn medicine and karuta-."
She picks up her glass, looks at her reflection in the surface, and then sets it down. She hasn't had a whole glass yet, she just likes to hold it.

"Yar, I agree." You raise your glass to that. You're not sure if this is what she wanted to talk about or what, but you know better than to interrupt a talkative drunk.

"Hmph!" Again, picks up glass, light sip, puts it down. "I just don't like it! I want society to make more sense than 'none at all'! If this was like home, my Dad would have beat that maid up, took that boy, and raised him to be a MAN."

She keeps talking about a maid and a boy, but that doesn't match anyone that you know of. At least not anyone living at the castle.
Uh oh, she's flagging the waitress down. She has two full glasses of booze next to her, but keeps getting more after taking a few sips.

>C'mon Yuuki, let's get you to bed.
>Yuuki, I think ye need to wake up some.
>Naw, keep listening. This is fun.
>Get drunk, too.

If we could interject for some clarification that would also be nice.

The waitress comes by and sets down another perfectly full glass. She suppresses a chuckle as she wanders off.
Yuuki picks the glass up, admires her reflection in the liquid, and then sets it back down.

"Y'know." Yuuki still maintains her composure in voice and sound, despite the things coming out of her mouth.
It almost makes you wonder if she isn't merely pretending to be drunk to just vent at you.

Yuuki pauses for a second, taking another sip before continuing her previous train of thought.
"Y'know, I've sometimes wondered if I shouldn't be doing something about all these kids. It can't be good growing up like this."
"Like what, Yuuki? Start an orphanage."
"No no, Like- Like. Like a School."

"A school." You laugh to yourself, "You mean those places snobby rich kids go to be scumbags like their parents?"

She takes another sip, "It's just not right letting them run around like they are. Especially someone like Louise or Kayda."
"They are goin' to school, Yuuki. Fightin' school, where all good kids should learn. Is it really so bad for them though, Yuuki?"

"JACK!" Yuuki stands up and slaps her palms on the table.
"..what?"

"I don't think Kayda should stay in her room at the castle tonight! Or any night!"
"..Yuuki, she needs to recharge with her summoner."

"Then!" She scrambles to think of something. "Put her in the room next to her summoner! It's close enough, it probably counts!"

"Is there something you want to tell me, Yuuki?"
"No!"

She sits back down and sips from her glass once more. "I just think all those bear people are a bad influence on a blossoming young woman."

You're feeling really suspicious now. You drink from your mug while trying to consider what has her in a lump.

>"Want to ask if she can sleep with you, tonight?"
>"Yar, maybe ye should just get to sleep sooner rather than later."
>"Tell me more, why ye worried about this?"
>"Aye don't trust them as much as ye do, Lass."
>"-But she's still not your hero."

Low turnout tonight!

Sorry was beset by real life.

Woulda voted for that anyway, at least.
>>
"Well." You take a sip and think about your options here.
Yuuki doesn't want Kayda sleeping with her summoner. Kayda NEEDS to sleep in the vicinity of her summoner, eventually. Cody is probably sleeping with his summoner right now in a biblical sense unless he found a way to slip out for the night.

You probably shouldn't spend any more time away from Keiko. Besides, you miss the lil' lass.

"'ey, tell me more. Why ye worried about this now of all nights? We're back home, everyone is safe."
For now.
"-So why ye spendin' time worried about this of all things? Ye worried they're traitors? If ye think they are, then ye need to tell the castle staff right away."

"I don't think they're traitors, Jack. I just think they're not nice people to be around!"

"Lass, are ye pretendin' to be drunk?"
"What!?"

That caught her off-guard, and her response time is much faster than it should have been.

"I'm sayin' Lass, are ye pretendin' to be drunk 'cause you're tryin' to tell me something ye don't want to say normallly?"
"..What tipped you off?"
"That yer still buzzed enough to think that was a good idea."

Seriously, does anyone think you don't know what 'drunk' looks like at this point?

"Lass, why don't you think they're nice people?"
"E-"

She suddenly gulps an entire glass of liquor down!
"LASS WAIT-"
"There! I'm drunk-"
Every part of her body from her head down to her stomach just realized how much of a poor idea that must have been.

With a bound, she nearly explodes out of the door to the bar.

--

"Feelin better, Lass?"
Yuuki sips at a canteen, she steadies herself against a wall while coughing.
"Congrats, Lass. Ye just had yer first alcohol sickness."

>"Ready to call it a night?"
>"Ready to tell me what the hell is going on?"
>"Why don't you show me what's bothering you?"
>"Forget it, everyone to sleep. Let's worry about it in the morning."
>"'ey, if yer worried about Kayda tonight, ask all the lasses at the castle if they want a sleep-over."

She stands up on her own power and starts to walk back to the castle. You follow shortly behind her to make sure she doesn't have another fit.
That's when an idea comes to your mind.

"'ey" You get her attention. She spins around almost a little too fast and nearly loses her footing.
You catch her by the shoulder and point toward the castle.

"Yer worried about Kayda right? Maybe ye should give her a reason to not be in her room tonight."
"Like what? Kidnap her?" She wearily looks toward you.

Maybe that last hit really did get her a little drunk.
"No Lass, what is it those girls usually do? A sleep-over?"

She thinks about that statement for a second.
"You're right."
"Aye, girls do that sort of thing, right? Ye should try to get Kayda, Louise, their summoners, and whoever else into a sleep-over just to keep the maid's eye off 'er for the night."

"Well, I don't think Kayda's summoner would-"
"Why not?"

"Ah, long story."

You don't like this tiptoeing around the issue. If something is wrong you want to be the first person to know about it.
"No, Lass. Is something wrong? Like with Kayda or her summoner?"
"What makes you say that?"

You know when someone is avoiding an issue when you see it.
Unfortunately, you're too tired to pursue it any further. If it's not anything urgent enough for Yuuki to be bashing the Maid's head in, then it will have to wait.

"Aye. so what is your first plan of action when ye get back?"
"Go to Louise and Kayda's roo-"

She suddenly stops herself.
"..I'll send Alicot to Kayda's room to fetch her."

"Fine with me, Lass. If ye need anythin' or suspect anythin' is amiss, you know where Cody sleeps."
"In the cellar, inside that crate?"
"Aye."

>"Here, I'll walk you back, and even help you."
>"See ye later, Yuuki. I got a shrine to hold down."

Aye, you should probably spend some time at the shrine. You don't want them giving away your stuff.

Like your-

Your-
Oh right! The captain's coat. You don't want them giving that to-
Whoever would be interested in the coat of a sailor who smelled perpetually like rum.

Besides, there's some people you miss there. Someone you haven't got to spend a lot of time with, and that breaks your heart in a way you didn't know could be broken.

--

"Jack!"
"Hey there, Lil' sailor!"

You lift Keiko up, spinning her in the air once before letting her rest on your shoulders.
"Boat ride! Boat ride!"

You sway back and forth as you walk up the steps to the shrine. Atsuko has already heard the commotion and is waiting at the top of the steps for you.
"Hmph. I didn't even know you'd be joining us tonight."
"How could I miss my favorite person in the world!"

She huffs, she knows you're talking about Keiko.

"Aww, Lass! I'm just jokin'!"
"I know, but still."

"Ye still feelin' bad about not bein' my summoner?"
"Oh I'm over that." She crosses her arms, "I'm more sad about the fact that you've found so many more fun things to do than spend time at the shrine."

"'ey, I can't forget this place. Even if I did try to leave, aye think Madeleine back thar would just drag me back."

You lean over slightly around Atsuko's shoulder and wave to the slithery woman making a very worrysome smile in your direction.
"Hey Madeleine."
"Good to see you, Jack!" She says in a mock-happy tone. Maybe she's equally upset at how long you've spent away from here.

"Anyway, I'm just anxious for bed, and-"
"No no no. No you don't." Atsuko interrupts, "You're not going to sleep until you have dinner with us."
"Heh, that's bold of ye, Ice lass-"

She weakly pounds at your chest. It's good to be home.

Sorry for such the short thread. Time just seems to slip away when I'm not paying attention.

I should start these earlier or move them to a day that I have the whole day off. I'm not sure which to do.

Anyway. Thanks for the thread everyone. Let me know what you thought.

Good thread, ended with good feels. Run whenever is convenient for you, spending all your days off on us probably isn't reasonable. That said it'd be appreciated.
