You are Cadet [REDACTED], a human male on your final test in the Imperial Navy's Vensenor Flight Academy. You're currently operating the SENSOR CONSOLE aboard a SKIPRAY BLASTBOAT. Your sensors have been JAMMED.

You've elected to put your mind and training to use and try to clear up the jamming as much as you can. Roll 1d10, the first three rolls will be counted.

So some decades old clanker thinks it can match wits with you? If you weren’t concentrating on clearing up the electronic fog and boosting power to the sensor array, you’d probably be laughing. It takes you a few precious seconds, but you punch through the jamming – it’s strong, but brute-force. Simple. You manage to clear up short-range sensors, but anything beyond short range is too far for you at this rate. Damned clankers know how to run an ECM array, even if it’s a good 20 years old. Allright, you were right on your first Guess. A squadron of Vulture Droids escorting what looks like a flight of Hyena Bombers are heading for the Vensenor’s bridge, and that TIE Squadron that was tangling with the Tri-Droids is in a bad way. There’s a Banking Clan Frigate not far from your location. It is probably the cause of the jamming.

Tadia already appears to be firing at the Tri-droids, but you’re too far to be able to do much from this range, not with the cannons you’ve got. Tons doesn’t appear to be doing much of anything – there’s nothing for his fixed-position weapons to target. Quint appears to be, for once, actually waiting for orders. After a moment, he confirms this himself. “Give the word, oh illustrious leader.” He calls out over the comms with his typical sarcastic Corellian drawl. For now, your Skipray is holding position just in front of the Vensenor’s hangar bay. The Vultures are behind you, the Frigate is to your port and the Tri-fighters are halfway between the frigate and the Vensenor.

What are your orders, Cadet-Captain?

If we're going to go Commander, go full commander. We can't do anything with out some support.
>>
>>43058269
We need to target the frigate.
Not only is it likely the source of the jamming, but its obviously going to be the thing coordinating these droid starfighters.
While they can still operate independent, they'll be significantly less dangerous when they no longer get constant streams of orders and information from their capital ship.

The best way we can help out our TIE's is by crippling the droids capital ship, even if we just menace it, it will force the droids to divert their forces to defend their capital ship, thus taking some pressure off friendly fighters.

but we can't take on such a big ship alone. It's not agile and the frigate by size alone will be time-consuming to destroy, not even mentioning the turrets and/or shields.

We have 3 medium Ion cannons and four proton torpedoes. Frigates are pretty chump-change to a GAT-12. Hell, we could take on cruisers if our weapon's tech was good enough.
>>
>>43058457
>that image
Holy fuck, my sides.
>>
>>43058431
The reason our fighters are in a bad place is provably because they're still being jammed.
Even if we don't destroy the frigate completely, we could provably inflict enough damage to it to knock out the jamming altogether, freeing up our fighters to rally.
Plus, if we do manage to destroy it, it will send the droids into disarray, because while droid fighters do have some limited autonomy, they can no longer fight effectively without a command vessel to update their combat objectives.
>>
>>43058459
stun torpedoes.

Do Banking Clan Frigates have shields? I believe they have.
Unless we have one gunner aim for fighters and the other for the frigate.

They have shields, but that's what Ion is for, should disable sections of deflectors long enough to use the torpedoes. And we can do that, one is a turret gunner, the other is controlling our fixed ordinance.

Yes, but not enough to protect them from our ion cannons.
All we have to do is splash the shielding around their bridge with the ions and them pump a torpedo into them.
The bridge of a Munificent class is completely unarmored and consists mostly of huge wraparound windows.
A direct hit might not outright destroy it, but it will be completely crippled and incapable of giving orders to its fighters or broadcasting its jamming signal.

You look at the screen. Not much you can do about a bomber flight with fighter escort, they’d eat you up. There’s a good sixteen droid ships back that way. The only thing you can do for Vensenor is take out that frigate and hope that you mess with the clanker’s ESM. Hell, you’re surprised that they’re even operating at full functionality when there’s heavy jamming in play as well. You patch in to the fighter squadron’s comm frequency, and it’s a mess. They’re outright panicking. TIE’s are fast, but the manoeuvres those Tri-Fighters are pulling would outright kill you, even with the inertial dampeners on.

“Helm, take us below the furball. Flank speed. Main guns, charge up ions and load the Concussion tube. Top gun, prepare to receive sensor and targeting data. Let’s help out those TIE’s, team.” The first thing you hear, of course, is an objection – unsurprisingly, it comes with a Corellian accent. “Oh, kriff the fighters boss. They’re expendable. Lets hit that frigate before those Tri-Droids finish with them and start with us!” The ion engines roar to life and the Skipray starts to head off on what is technically a course you ordered, but it’s arcing far enough under the fight between the TIE’s and Tri’s to keep you out of weapons range. Looks like your unruly pilot has his own ideas.

>Quint is being a pedunkee. How do you react?

>>43058622

>>
>>43058622
Tell the Corellian faggot to fly where you tell him, and how you tell him, before you personally throw him out into space.
We need some kind of escort to draw the Munificent's attention or else we're going to have all of its point-defense guns pointed squarely at us.
We'll skim the furball just long enough to take out some of the Tri-fighters and pick up some escorts, then make a beeline for the Munificent.
>>
We are presumably able to fly TIE fighters though right?
>>
>>43058662
You can do this, though you'll be flying on sensor data alone since you don't actually have a viewport back at your station. Sienar does good things, but the visibility of their vessels absolutely sucks.
>>
>>43058683
What this anon said, if he wants to do what he wants he'll have his chance next run. But now we're the ones in charge and we don't have time to hesitate
>>
>>43058622
"Quint, if we don't give those ties a hand the clankers will mop them up and be on our ass before we get halfway to the frigate. Correct our course"
"Ton, Tadia, hit those droids with as much fire as we can before we disengage and head for the frigate. We need those TIEs to watch our back."
>>
I sincerely doubt appealing to Corellian's respect for authorities is gonna work
>>

We're probably rated for it, but we're in Line Officer classes, not Fighter School. With mind+reflexed I'd have said we're perfect for a fighter command, like Baron Fel, but let's see how our exam goes.

if we're good at picket/assault, maybe we can score a Decimator command.

“Quint listen here you little dren, what do you think will happen if we don’t give the TIE’s a hand? The Clankers wipe them out, and then they hit us from behind, where we can’t even use our main guns! You’re good, but you’re not that good. Use your head, man.” It is an effort to keep your voice calm, but you know that getting into a shouting match with a Corellian won’t help anyone. You decide to appeal to his logic instead – he’s not stupid, he’s just an asshole. Amazingly, it works and the ship starts to arc upwards. With the distance you’ve already gained, you’re going to hit the fight between the TIE’s and Tri’s right from below. He doesn’t decide to respond to you, clearly apologizing or saying ‘yes sir’ is still too much for the man’s ego to take.

You decide to be polite enough to not gloat, instead turning your mind back to the job at hand. You’ve isolated what looks like six remaining TIE Fighters and nine Tri-Fighters. The Colocoid design is clearly doing some nasty work. It looks like about half of the Tri-Fighters have fired off their Discord missiles, and the loss of weight is really helping them to outpace and outmanoeuvre the TIE’s. However, the ones with the missiles are going to be a far greater threat to your vessel than the ones without. “TIE Squadron, break on my signal. We’re evening up this fight.” You signal to the squadron, and to your surprise the response you get isn’t automated at all.

“Thank the Emperor, Skipray. These guys are all over us!” You recognize the voice. It’s one of the rookies from Flight School. Clearly, command decided to be a little cute and run a combined-arms sim.
“Almost in weapons range. Request targeting data.”

Do you:

Now that the crew is in agreement, the run starts smooth. The distance between you and the battle dwindles as your sluggish gunship moves at a surprisingly good clip towards the battle between the two capital ships. Whilst Quint takes you right into the belly of the beast with the reckless bravado you’d expect of any true Corellian, you send targeting data to your two gunners, finally punching through the last of the sensor fog and getting a clear view of the battlefield. Looks like the Hyena Bombers are starting their attack run – that incident with Quint cost you some precious time. Whilst you work, you stumble on something.

The frequency that the Tri-Droids are communicating with their mothership on. A vicious grin appears on your pale face as you take the copied jamming signal that you saved before and put every single bit of juice your communications console has into bursting out that very signal on the Tri-fighter’s frequency. It works, and the droids are momentarily stunned just as your gunners get into firing range. Quint moves you expertly through the battle as you give the order and your crewmates fire up the guns. You don’t have long to rest on your laurels as an explosion rocks your ship.

“Misfire! Misfire!” Elevens calls out as he grabs a fire suppressor from beside his console and starts to spray down his console, which is spitting out sparks. Quint swears and you feel a slight thud as he barely avoids an exploding Tri-Fighter, dodging the worst of the debris. Things are starting to get hectic as the simulator starts to spray smoke into the bridge. “Damage report!” You cry out, noting that Tadia hasn’t even so much as reacted to the new issue.

“Conc exploded early. Tube frakked, nose gun slagged. Need to lock it down.” Tons speaks in his usual broken form, wasting as few words as possible. He seems to be more occupied in trying to get his console fixed and locking down the missile magazine so that they don’t go off. For now, your main weapons are disabled. You check the sensors, and find that of the nine Tri-fighters, only five are left – and all five of them are sluggishly turning towards you. Your sensor console starts to blare with the all-too-familiar sound of targeting computer locks. You do your best to break the lock, and Quint certainly does his share, bringing the gunship into a set of dizzying manoeuvres.

FIVE Tri-Fighters armed with missiles of some form are trying to get a lock onto you. They appear to have recovered from their jamming.
Your main weapons are out for the count, and your gunner is warning you about the possibility of your ammunition cooking off.
You are on a course that is taking you more or less towards the Banking Clan Frigate. It hasn’t targeted you. Yet.

Meanwhile we can try and spoof the enemy missile lock and dump physical countermeasures if we have any.

Perhaps we can use our enemies own weapons to cripple the frigate.
If we can keep the Tri-Fighters from launching their missiles until the last second, we could pull up and over, or just bellow the enemy bridge, resulting in it taking multiple hits from missiles that are following us.
The majority of the missiles should be wiped out in the explosion, giving us a fighting chance to survive.
>>
>>43059466
This is risky. Possible, but risky. It will take co-ordination from you and Quint to time it just right.

Important question, what's the friendly's call sign?

We're "Besh Flight" or something similar, but who are those guys?

More than a bit risky in a highly maneuverable TIE, impossible in a Skipray. Lets try something a bit more survivable.

Your wing cannons and turret are still functional. However, the controls to FIRE your wing cannons are not. You're down to turret only for now.

You think for a moment, the now-familiar shape of a Munificent-Class Frigate filling up your sensor screen. Missile-toting enemies behind you, and you’ve got their frequency. Big fat target in front of you pumping out jamming (your sensor screen is getting a little foggy as you get closer to it). Tri-Fighters appear intent on you and your TIE Pilot buddies are, from the looks of it, tailing those bastards. An idea starts to form in your mind. A damn risky idea, but you’re an errant twitch away from an ammo cookoff anyway and down to one last weapon. Desperate times.

“Quint, fly right for the bridge of that thing. When I give the signal, break to port.” You order. “Tons, just concentrate on keeping our missiles from cooking off. Tadia, help him.” It’s not like you want those Tri-fighters to be destroyed before they file their missiles after all. There’s no point having a tail gunner right now – you’d be shooting at your own weapons. Even if they don’t realize that’s what they are now. Quint appears to like the idea, if his dark chuckle and “Aye aye, cap’n boss sir,” is anything to go by.

You glance over your shoulder as you patch through to Zeta Leader, and spot Tadia physically pushing the now panicking Tons out of the way. She crosses her arms and looks over the console, her expression one of disdain.
“Skipray to Zeta Leader. We’re going to try something stupid. Don’t fire on the Tri-Droids until AFTER they fire their missiles. Acknowledge, over.”
The response is immediate. “Uh…okay, Skipray. Will comply.”

Here goes nothing…

>>
You reroute power from all your weapons to your forward shields as the Frigate finally targets you, the point-defence lasers sending bolts of emerald light in your direction. Quint evades them with the kind of careless precision you’ve come to expect from him, in some cases evading the blasts by barely a meter. Behind you, the TIE’s scream in behind the Tri-Fighters, seeking a targeting solution but holding their fire as per your suggestion. Clearly, the cadet squadron leader is as good as his word. You don’t see any of this, however, because you’re hard at work at your own damn console.

You’ve isolated the targeting frequencies the Seperatist droids are using, and in the heat of the moment you’ve outright forgotten that this is just a simulation. Your training has taken over, and all you know is that your team is counting on you. The lock warning turns from yellow to red as the Tri-Fighters fire as one, and your pulse skyrockets. Now you’re dealing with the missile locks, even as the blips of the Tri-Fighters disappear as the TIE’s get to work. That’s one problem dealt with. You count down the seconds, knowing you’re going to have to get this just right.

That’s when you hear the familiar sound of a missile magazine ejection. Tadia, apparently, has decided to just eject the missile payload manually rather than try to disarm them remotely. The Concussion missiles drop free from the front of the vessel. ‘Smart move’ you think to yourself, before the ship bucks like it got punched in the face by a Rancor in heat. Multiple alarms blare and the ship starts to careen down towards the frigate. Clearly, the helm has lost control.

>You have TEN MINUTES to decide on an action.
>Missiles are still incoming.
>You have lost all flight control.
>You haven’t heard anything from Quint.

I will be on hand to answer any questions about the situation or your surroundings. We are entering panic mode, ladies and gentlemen.

>No helm.
Well, we are going to die if our course is not cleared, this is an inevitability as we can no longer move to evade the Munificent's bridge.
>Missiles are still locked.
Is there any way we can designate a new target, or cause them to lose their lock on our drives, can we still shut off our sublight drives?
If so we might be able to get the missiles to race ahead of us, and if so the bridge might be blown off just enough that we can either scrape through the debris cloud.
>You still haven't heard anything from Quint.
Well there's nothing left for him to do as pilot, if we can preform any of the tasks I outlined above, he would be more useful there as apposed to at a dead helm.

Even as everything goes to poodoo around you, you maintain your calm. “Tadia, check on Quint. Tons, FIX EVERYTHING. I’m gonna try to remote pilot this thing.” Even as you speak, you’re already pressing the button to execute the program you prepared to jam the missiles. Before you have time to even see the results, you’re patching in remotely to the helm, transferring command of the ship’s controls from the cockpit to your own console. It is far from ideal – you’re operating on sensors alone and the jamming is strongest close to the Frigate. You settle your hand on the small secondary control yoke and yank back.

You can hear the footsteps of Tadia sprinting for the cockpit. She slams the palm of her hand on the ‘open’ door and without warning, a deafening howl fills the bridge as the air starts to be sucked out of the main area. Clearly, the cockpit took a bigger hit than you thoughts. Even as the decompression puts out the fire that has started up again on Tons’s console, Tadia pushes her way into the cockpit. You lose visual there. Tons has resorted to just shutting down the weapons console – perhaps knowing you won’t be needing weapons anymore – and it is at that moment that you realize something. Your heart drops like the stock on the Trade Federation on Empire Day.

THE MISSILES ARE STILL LOCKED ON.

Oh fierfek! Your feet find the foot pedals and your hand tightens on the yoke. With absolutely no visual, you’re going to have to avoid both the rapidly approaching Separatist vessel AND the incoming missiles. You keep your eyes peeled on the sensor screen, the moment ticking down as the missiles and frigate approach at a speed that is just unseemly. You’re going to have to time this just right. After a few seconds, the howling stops and, from the fact you can still breathe, you assume someone has closed the door to the cockpit. “Quint’s clear. Do it.” Tadia calls out, and in that moment you know you’re on your own...
>>
And it feels right! No snarky pilot to argue with, no panicking gunner, nothing to worry about but yourself and your skills. You count down the seconds in your head, knowing you’re going to have to get this perfectly. Four seconds, three, two…NOW!

You yank back on the controls, pulling your vessel into a sharp climb. As you do so, you stamp down hard on the starboard foot pedal, sending you into a corkscrewing roll mid-climb. Your heart might as well be in your throat as on the sensor screen you see the missiles, the frigate and your own position converge…

…Nothing happens. For a moment, you think you’ve wiped out. That the simulator has shut down. It isn’t until you hear Zeta Leader’s voice in your ear that it hits you.
“…Kriff me. I can’t believe you did it.”

So his piloting skill outweighs his insubordination ? The Empire does give leeway to those who are talented but I'm surprised he's still around.
>>
You can’t really believe it either. You maintain your new course, making sure to head as far away from the Frigate as you can. Your caution is well-founded as the missiles impact right in the control bridge of the Frigate. There isn’t any spectacular explosion – not that you can see, anyway. The frigate simply turns from one signal on your sensor screen into two. You try to right your rapidly spinning fighter (You KNEW spinning was a good trick) and when you’ve stabilized your flight, you check the sensor screen. No tri-fighters, and it looks like those Vulture Droids have lost what cohesion they had.

Your response to Zeta Leader is as cool and calm as you have pretended to be this entire simulation.
“Maintain discipline, Zeta Lead. The Vulture Droids will be vulnerable. Let’s not waste time.” You then turn your chair around to regard your crew. Tons is standing, staring at you, mouth agape. Quint is laughing his smug arse off, clearly impressed by the stunt the four of you have pulled. Tadia simply has an eyebrow raised. “You know, you can stop singing now.” She informs you quietly.
Shab. You didn’t even realize you were singing that old Imperial war hymn your dad taught you. You meet her gaze, and decide to re-assert control over the situation.

Their escorts are basically crippled.
>>
>>43060674
The only issue is that the cockpit is a depressurized mess. There's no way that Quint can go back to his station. There's only one pilot-capable console left, and it's yours.

Do you:
>Take over flying for the duration of the mission?
>Let Quint take the controls?
>>
>>43060651

Tadia, back in your seat. Tons, reboot weapons console. Quint, make yourself useful and help with any physical repairs, but stay handy if I need you to hold the stick while I run nav.

Then we scan for targets while telling Zeta Squadron they can go back to whatever it was they were doing before. If nothing presents itself, we can call for a resupply. We appear to be out of concussion missiles.
>>
>>43060742
the weapons panel is useless.
>>
>>43060738
I'll join the alliance when they stop wearing bicycle helmets to fights.
>>
Since we didn't became an jobber, do we get promoted to d11's now?
>>
>>43060730

I think venator IS the mothership, which means that if it hasn't dealt with the bombers somehow it will be either on fire or we'll have to deal with those bombers before we get to hangar.

Make sure turret's manned and weapons operational, if possible. Maybe we could give Quint the controls if we're better at fixing stuff up?
>>
>>43060750
>>Take over flying for the duration of the mission?
>>
>>43060750
Take over.

He's already demonstrated that we can't trust him.
>>
>>43060651
See if we're lucky enough to get the ship back into fighting shape, limp back to the hangar if not. No point in becoming a needless casualty.
>>
>>43060750
Can we still work the other shit while he pilots?
>>
>>43060750
Let's keep the controls ; he's an ace allright, but I suspect he's far worse than us at ECMs and sensors.
He can rest a bit/get some bacta patch or whatever pass for first-aid here. He went through a depressurization after all.
>>
>>43060750

>Let Quint take controls
help with repairs if possible.
>>
>>43060756
Seconded.

But i'll suggest to Zeta Squadron to get those bombers on their priority list.
>>
>>43060760
Its not useless, its just half covered in flame retardant foam. I'm pretty sure Imperial kit is resistant to that.
>>
>>43060750
it's best we fly as everyone else gets re-situated and the ship gets into something resembling shape
>>
>>43060750
>Take over flying for the duration of the mission?

For allowing his console to be destroyed, we demote quint to boat-guy duties unless we really need to do something else.
>>
>>43060756
>Reboot weapons console.
Weapons console is blown out.
Quint should fly, he's most qualified.
>We appear to be out of concussion missiles.
Bit of an understatement, the concussion missile launcher is basically gone if I'm not mistaken.
>>
>>43060750
Let Quint fly. It's his job and we don't need to worry about ECM any longer.
>>
>>43060794
if it was so simple, why didn't they just remove the foam with the stroke of a hand? It was on fire.
>>
>>43060750
>Let Quint take the controls?
now we can focus our full attention on coordinating the battle
>>
>>43060803
second let quint fly
>>
I just realized that I've been wearing my imperial bathrobe since the thread's start.
Praise the emperor.
>>
>>43060774
Yeah, that's why I wanted to do whatever we could about those bombers, if they were still a threat, before we headed back to the hanger.
>>
>>43060750
>Let Quint take the controls
He IS the best pilot out of all of us. So good that he hasn't been canned.
>>
So why do people want the idiot who disobeys orders flying again?
>>
>>43060851
Because he's still the best pilot we have on hand.
He can be punished once we're out of combat.
>>
>>43060851

For the same reason why he wasn't fired from academy yet, because he's good at it. Besides he did follow orders after the initial exchange. Really only his injuries are a good reason to not let him fly.
>>
>>43060851
because he's best pilot and well he might be a contrarian asshole that shouldn't even be part of the navy but he's our contrarian asshole
>>
>>43060750

We're piloting this damn thing.

Quint ignored a direct order and we were able to save our skins from this with our tactful command and our ability to pilot. I'm not letting a lose cannon take over pilot.
>>
>>43060851
He's a good pilot and we're still in a combat situation.
Lets not cut off our nose to spite our face, atleast till after we're done getting shot at.
>>
>>43060851
Technically he only questioned orders and he is a much better pilot than us.
>>
>>43060851
Because he is the best goddamn pilot in the entire fucking academy, and despite the best efforts of our lieutenant and of Tadia, she who got five previous students charged with treason, who can't get anything on the guy bad enough that outweighs his flying skills.
>>
>>43060750
>>Let Quint take the controls?
>>
>>43060900
He didn't questioned, he ignored and we had to spend valuable time convincing him to follow said orders.

Hope he gets sent to Kessel after this.
>>
>>43060900
that and having the guy who has a record of disciplinary issues makes it easy to toss under the bus when things go sideways.
>>
>>43060921
Whatever. Calm your tits man.
>>
>>43060921
If you read back he technically set us on the course we set.
>>
>>43060900
>questioned

>Commander: "We're doing this."

>Driver: "lolnofagget" drives this way instead

No that is definitely insubordination.

It doesn't matter if we convinced him otherwise, we shouldn't have to, orders are to be followed.
>>
>>43060750
>>Let Quint take the controls?

Focus on coordinating the remainder of the flight.
>>
>>43060921
We convinced with a few quick sentences.
And it looks like he was impressed with our stunt. Maybe with a little respect he'll learn to listen better, character development.
>>
>>43060738
Wibbles would have us die before that happens
>>
newwwwwwwww threaaaaaaaad
>>
>>43060936

Exactly, that shit won't fly in the actual Galactic Empire. Discipline needs to be taught and it needs to be taught now.
>>
>>43060936
Are you autistic or just pretending?
Maybe you should have BLAMmed him right back then when he "insubordinated" you, not now after he spend most of the fight either doing his job properly or unconscious due to factors outside his control.
>>
>>43060968

It is tolerated in units where that skill is needed.
>>
>>43060979
Blammming him there would have put the rest of the mission at risk.

No, we file a report and make sure our superiors know about it.
>>
>>43060979
It's like you've never watched Star Wars.

You can get executed for a hell of a lot less.
>>
Since people seem to be arguing over something that is in text in this very thread, I'll repost what happened.

We specified a course. He followed the course, and it was technically within what we ordered.
>>
Rolled 2 (1d2)

We've got a tie. I'm going to roll a die.

1, we fly.
2, he flies.
>>
>>43061003

Ok, Rimmer, we can file the report after we're done fighting then.
>>
>>43060979
>>43061002
>>43061003
Or we could hold this over him.
If we ever report him for this, he's fucked.
By simply not reporting it he owes us his continued career (and freedom from imprisonment).
Do you guys even Imperial Officer?
>>
>>43061026
This, Christ almighty
>>
>>43061026
Within the letter, not the spirit.

There's a reason he hasn't been kicked out yet. He's good at not going too far over the line.

Thank you Anon.
>>
>>43061002
Yes, units like the Emperors' flying mary sues, not a picket ship.
>>43061003
This guy gets it. Also a few seconds we have to spend to explain to the jackass is a few seconds we can't spend on jamming missiles or doing other much more important life-saving stuff.
>>
>>43061048
I don't think that's going to work in simulator where everything is monitored by whoever is in charge of evaluating us.

Somebody's only hearing what they want to hear.
>>
>>43061048
>If we ever report him for this, he's fucked.
Report him? Have you forgotten that this is the final exam and that we're being monitored?
That this is all inside a simulator and our proctors are being asses by throwing prematurely detonating torpedoes, jammed torpedo tubes, a weapons console ON FIRE, ammunition that cooks off, and explosively decompressed cockpits at us?

They know what Quint did, and they don't give a fuck because he's just good enough to get a pass.
>>
Let's leave the discussion about Quints behaviour to the officers, we have an scenario to win.
>>
>>43061114
>technically a course you ordered
Which means technically he was following orders.

>Somebody's only hearing what they want to hear.
Seeing as our character said that it was technically a course we ordered and that he was technically still obeying orders, I'd say that Quint gets off the hook because of a technicality since that's how our character phrased it.
>>
>>43061147
If I give someone two orders and they follow one and ignore the other.

Are they following orders? No.
>>
You turn back to your console for a second to make sure your comms aren’t set to broadcast. They are. Everyone heard you singing whilst pulling the craziest stunt you’ve ever managed. Great. Just great. You shake your head, but you don’t have more than a second to wallow in your shame. You turn your face back to your crew, and start to give your orders.

“We’re not out of this yet, team. Tons, see what you can do with the gunnery console. If you can, get at least one of the ion guns online.” It’s a long shot and you all know it, but it’ll keep the man busy. He nods and turns back to the console, taking a few breaths to calm down. Then he gets to work. “Tadia, the top gun is our only defensive option now. Blast anything that gets close.” She salutes you and returns to her console, her mind already set on the job. She might be alien scum, but you can appreciate her efficiency at least.

Then you turn to face Quint. He looks up at you from his position sitting on the floor. He’s rubbing a bump on his head that’s likely to become a bruise soon, but he meets your gaze and his eyes are clear. His expression is carefully neutral, and you can’t tell what’s going on in his mind. There’s no questions from him, no snarky comments or sardonic ‘yes sirs’. Just silence as he waits for your orders. He’s a damn good pilot and you know it’s not his fault that he got knocked out, but the facts remain. He questioned a direct order, and you can’t simply allow that kind of thing to go unnoticed.

1/2
>>
>>43061139

And we'll end up stuck with having him in our crew cause we're demonstrably capable of handling him.

As it should be.
>>
>>43061179

Thats the thing.

Hes only in charge of flying. The shooting order was for Ton.
>>
>>43060958
i agree with myself and will ask for a anew thread

I know Moff is writing just wanted to post
>>
>>43061196
You step away from the console. “One more chance, Quint. Just one. We’ll talk more after this is over.” You say simply. There isn’t time for a speech and Emperor knows you’ve given enough already. The man actually salutes you, though there is a little bit of a sardonic smile on his face. “Gotcha boss.” He says simply and settles down into the chair, wrapping his fingers around the control yoke. “Orders?” He asks. You cross your arms. You already know what you have to do.

“Zeta Leader, form up on my position. We’re going to take out those Hyena bombers.” You send to the cadet TIE pilots. “Helm, take us under those Hyenas. Within weapons range this time, if you’d be so kind.” The little jibe is enough to get your message across. Quint nods and takes the ship on exactly the course you have specified. It occurs to you that you should have heard from Vensenor by now. The jamming’s been disabled for a good minute now.

None of that now. How are you going to proceed?
>Head in first, try to draw away the fighter escort so the TIE’s can deal with the bombers.
>Have the TIE’s run distraction duty whilst you deal with the bombers yourself.
>Targets of opportunity – go in all at once and hit anything you can.
>Write-in?

Sorry for the wait, guys. Got a bit of writer's block halfway through. We's good now though.
>>
>>43061204
So if we give a general order to the team and one member actively subverts it, preventing the rest of the team from carrying it out, that's fine?

lets make this fast lets make this clean and get home/out of this test

and then we find out this was never a simulation and was a live fire test

we're not exactly in shape to be a durable bait, or to take out on our own whatever the wing will stir up.

Isn't the Hyena a bomber/heavy fighter?
Can't they turn on us with heavy weapons?
Wouldn't it be better to try to tank the lighter weapons of the droid fighters and let the agile TIE's handle the slow Hyena's?

>>Targets of opportunity – go in all at once and hit anything you can.

They go after us, they open their flank for a TIE attack, if they come after the TIE they open themselves open to an attack from us.

They need co-ordination in order to win this, and they don't have it with their frigate down.
