Midnight in Gotham Issue #12 - Punch & Judy>A typical psyche student at Gotham U is forced to take on the role of the Joker.>Last issue, we saw just how bad things are getting during the lockdown. Now we're going to break villains out of a holding facility.>Check for updates on Twitter at GothamQM@QMGotham>Go here for a list of previous issues: http://pastebin.com/N1nxppJi>Go here for an updated list of MiG castmembers converted for the Batman miniatures game: http://pastebin.com/iMbaimudYou stand on the edge of the river, hidden in the late evening shade under a tree in the park. Looking out into the water, you pinpoint your target- a small freight ship moored far out in the bay. "It hasn't moved in the last few hours," says Dwayne. "That's gotta be it."A tipoff by a now-deceased policeman led you here, to the holding facility being used by the Federal task force locking down the city. Inside, you know, criminals being arrested by the task force are being held before being shipped down the coast to Metropolis - to Stryker's Island."No boats have gone out to it recently, " points out Coal. "Or come back. There was another, smaller ship that came by earlier, though; the ship moved a container to it. I'd be willing to guess that's how they're moving the prisoners.""Nobody steps on land at all," you say. "The whole thing has to be self-sufficient. It's a professional gig, we can be sure of that. They aren't taking any chances"Holly joins in, cautiously. "The question is, though- how are they keeping everyone there? Surely the people they're holding should be able to overrun the whole thing. Someone like Scarecrow might be easy to subdue if you catch him off-guard, sure, but Freeze could have the whole ship iced over in minutes. And all of them together -no, something's wrong with all this. You're not getting the whole story."
>>43074672"There's got to be some way in there," you say. "A fake prisoner delivery? Or we could just attack it head on; maybe we can catch them off-guard. They probably think we still don't know where they're operating out of...""Boss, I hate to agree with Holly, but she's right. There's gotta be somethin' else goin' on over there," says Dwayne. "This all seems... too easy.""You might be right," you agree. "But after they took us off-guard the other day, our numbers have been dwindling. Getting a big name in our corner might even the odds a bit- especially with Irons gunning for me.""...Of course, you've got no idea who is actually out there, do you?" says Coal. "It could just be a bunch of nobodies. A huge waste of time.""That's true," you agree. "It's a big gamble...">Do you attempt to hold up the ship and break out someone? It's a big hit back against the FBI. How would you plan on doing this? Or...>Do you bide your time, and come up with some other plan? They're right- it might be a trap.>You could try to cash in on the fact that most of the competition is being removed from the city. The whole city could be yours now, if you wanted it...>wat do?
>>43074683>Do you attempt to hold up the ship and break out someone? It's a big hit back against the FBI. How would you plan on doing this?Well, we have to break out everyone. We need to show that we are not pleased. I really hope whoever keeps coming up with good plans comes here so that they can plan it, because I am not smart enough to come up with a good plan.
I say we run the city into ground, cause mass mayhem with just about all the stops we can pull out and try and get a man on the inside of this ship. Also, random thought I forgot to throw out at the end of last thread. Matches Malone has been around, what if Red was another of the Bat's covers that he was using to keep tabs on us?
>>43074672"Eh, we could try the fake prisoner delivery route. I need on that boat to verify some things. I mean it could be nobodies but a ton of nobodies isn't nothing.Something is definitely up though. Thoughts, Coal?I mean we might have to crack me open like a pinata."
>>43074672"If we do the fake prisoner delivery though, it should be with as little worthwhile involved as possible. So me, and presumably one or two folks that won't be missed. I'll probably get tortured but I need these guys to check on the governor for me. I committed a war crime the other day and nobody blinked."
>>43075153Unlikely unless he's god awful quick at wardrobe changes.
>>43075380 It's Batman, so he certainly is. When did we have them appear in proximity?Speaking more on the task at hand, I'm tempted to go back to the surgically implanted bomb idea. Seems like it'd be useful for causing a ruckus. On the boat if not in other places. We need to show Gotham that this crackdown is not good for them, and that the Feds need to go so everything can get back to normal. I feel like we need to hit a federal reserve or something.
>>43075539I've a feeling the original is holding the governor and/or his family hostage.Orders given under duress are invalid. If the old man isn't or is we break out.
>>43075539I mean his guys obviously.
>>43074683>thread theme: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8ETieNnWp8"...But the point isn't that we get someone to sign on with us. The real point is that we show Irons that we're not pleased with him. And even if they are nobodies- there's bound to be a lot of them. That's bound to be worth something."You turn to the others. "I need on that boat, guys. But I want to make sure we're risking as little as possible. Here's what we'll do: we'll raise as much hell as we can in town tonight, and I'll get myself caught. They barely lifted a finger last time, even though I killed... well, a lot of people. They've got something special in store for me, I can feel it.We'll kill off the team that's charged with delivering me to the ship, then have a couple of Knock's boys take their places. Hopefully they can deliver me onto the boat in once piece.First, we need to go back to the Plant. We have to prepare. I have a plan, Coal, and I have a feeling you're probably going to like it..."But she did not like it. Not long after, back at your base, you are sitting on a desk, Coal looking down at you incredulously. "You want me to do....what?""They're bound to frisk me, Coal. Metal detectors, too. I can't go in there unarmed. I need something toxic in case things get bad, and I can't risk them taking it from me.""I'm not quite sure that surgery would be my first choice of action, though," she says."A couple of small bags slipped into the abdomen. That's all I ask."She nervously rolls a scalpel between her fingers. "Can't you just... swallow them? On a string or something?""I need fast access to them in case things go south unexpectedly. I won't have a chance to vomit them out- they have to go directly inside."She seems visibly concerned with your idea, but gradually seems to come around. She scurries about the room as you argue, gathering a small number of things. "Look... just... Don't bleed everywhere, alright?" she says.(cont)
>>43075638Also Coal, you were right about the Grundy, Nocturna and Day thing. Before you got here my accounts were drained.
>>43075638You lie back, and she gets to work- the scalpel biting into your lower abdomen, to the side of your abdominal muscles."You'll have to slide the bags back inside, into the cavity. Hopefully this will all look like a knife wound..." It bleeds less than you thought it would due to the razor-sharp blade, but the cold air being exposed to your inner torso is immediately shocking. Reflexively your heart starts racing, and you begin to hyperventilate- you try to keep yourself under control."Stay calm... Stay calm..." she tries to reassure you. "We really should have drugged you first, but you wouldn't have been able to go out again for a while afterwards. You probably still shouldn't, of course, but I have a feeling I'm not going to be able to stop you..." She pulls out a small strip of black plastic that looks as if it were from a trash bag, folds a small strip around the edges of the wound, and begins stitching it around your skin. "This should... help, at least. It should prevent the wound from bleeding too much and sealing over once we bandage it. And it should hold the hole open..." The needle pops up and down through your skin, but you can barely feel it pierce you- you only feel the pressure. Instead, you only feel the sting of the open gash in your body.""Absolutely insane..." she mutters to herself. Once she finishes, she fills three very small IV bags with a fluid, and roughly stuffs them into your abdomen. You grunt as she finishes; she was obviously trying to teach you a lesson. Finally, she puts a wad of gauze over the wound, tapes it down, and wraps your waist in a wring of bandages."If you move around too much your kidneys or intestines might fall out," she says flatly. "You'll have to go slowly... And in the future, try to remember that I'm not a doctor. Taking you apart is easy, but putting you back together is much harder. If anything goes missing, there'll be nothing I can do."You nod, still reeling from the pain.
>>43075973"Haven't I told you guys before Coal? Everyone gets to walk away but me. If the the people I care about can't, then there's no fun and no point in it for me.""Thanks for worrying though."
>>43074672>HELL HEREis this from Walking Dead?
>>43075763>can you clarify this a bit? What was she right about with the Grundy, Nocturna and Day thing are you talking about specifically?
>>43076146Can we NOT be autistic, please?
>>43076187Top Hat's report. He wouldn't take the money and run if he didn't have it. But someone paid for Grundy and Nocturna, probably Day but he doesn't have that kind of money without a backer. So in a way Dot and Coal could both be right.Dot about it not being the original since it was Day.Coal about it being the Joker, since he likely backed it, as proven by Day knowing we weren't the original
>>43076302Also it's not like Calendar Man has the necessary knowledge of chemistry to into swamp zombie.>>43076187
>>43075973"You were right, you know, Coal," you say, painfully sitting up. She helps you to rise from the table, holding the wound with a hand to try to keep it stable. "Calendar Man might've been behind the whole thing, but somebody must've been backing him. He probably didn't have that kind of money on his own; Nightjar said Nocturna was strictly for-profit, and those chemicals had to come from somewhere. You told me yourself that Spellcraft said it wasn't her."She stops for a moment. "Yes, well... We've always known he was around in some fashion, haven't we? Of course, it could've been set up beforehand... Before his death,"His death. You wish you could believe it."Everybody comes back but me," you tell yourself. You can't be sure if she heard you."Alright," says Dwayne, stepping into the office. "You sure you're gonna be up for this, boss?""I have to be," you say. "Then what's the plan?" he asks. "How're you planning to get their attention? It'll have to be something big and impressive.">wat do
>>43076640Wayne Tower in the diamond district maybe? I mean I killed 219 people, and burnt down GCPD headquarters. Where's left to make a statement?
>>43076791City Hall, the Courthouse, any federal buildings. Like I said, we should make it a big party.Oh Lordy, Joker victory rally
>>43076971You're right. City Hall and adjacent Courthouse it is.Let's get on our robes and powder wigs
Hmm, just a sudden twinge of an idea "54 card Pickup" shake anything loose for anybody else?
>>43077090Care to explain?
>>43077129We're letting ourselves get caught, right? We've also got a flair for distraction techniques (as does Irons) what if, while we hang ourselves out as bait, we hit a bunch of other places to generate scads of income for our poor suffering gangers? Say by hitting 52 different places and leaving a playing card at each one? (We give the guys that pick us up a Joker, natch)
>>43077193I like it, if we still have the man power to pull it off. Of course we can also have the other gangs deal out our cards too, it will show that we're on top now as the last one left standing
>>43076640Slowly and painfully, you make your way to a nearby window. Even over the bright lights of the city, you can see one building towering over the others, its neon "W" shining as brightly as the moon. You point to it. "Right there, D. And while we're at it, I've got another mission for Knock and his guys..."In a little under an hour, a skeleton crew of your men are outfitted with a bit of gear and scrounged together weaponry- predominantly molotovs, bits of napalm-like chemicals provided by coal, and metal pipes with explosives serving as makeshift rocket launchers; the last of your real rockets were expended in your last crime."Wayne Headquarters," says Holly. "I've met the man myself. He's arrogant- one of the worst of this city's elite. Every problem this city has comes straight down from people like him, and he has the gall to pretend he's some kind of philanthropist...""Sounds an awful lot like you, Priscilla," says Dwayne sarcastically."Well, enjoy yourself, Hol," you tell her. "We want to give them a show. We're trying to get them to haul me off to jail, remember?""...Well, I'm dyin' to show that Wayne boy what for," says Dwayne's square-jawed friend, chewing on an old matchstick. "With the boss out of the way I been itchin' for some action."As you near the building, you find a few of your people have already begun attacking the building, throwing molotovs into the lobby and letting the fires rise inside.Once you arrive Matches takes charge, directing the men's fire to the most visible places. "Damage don't matter, right?" he says. "You're lookin' for visibility.""I just wish we could have gotten ahold of Red," you say. "You two seem to share similar interests. He's been lying low since the lockdown started."Flames climb the exterior of the Wayne tower, as firetruck sirens approach in the distance- with military escorts. No one dares take even emergency vehicles for granted, now.
>>43077193That's gonna require Harv's help.
>>43077369Eh, I'm sure he'd be willing to go half and half and half on it. Unless he decides to be of two minds about it like usual.
So we all know Holly came back with PTSD right? And she called us Brock. She's never done that.
>>43077362As the trucks arrive, your men scatter into nearby alleyways and buildings, leaving you behind. You stand in the front of the flaming building- a towel wrapped around yourself, and a shower cap on your head. In one hand you hold a white-and -green rubber duck, and in the other you hold a scrubbing brush. As they spray the building down with water, you exaggeratedly pretend to take a shower in the falling water. The soldiers stand around the perimeter shouting you down, but they dare not come close to the flames. Once you feel that you've let them suffer enough, you step forward, dry yourself in the rudest ways possible, hand one of the soldiers your duck, brush, and towel, and dress yourself. "I was feeling a bit dirty," you tell them with a smile. "I needed a shower. You lot burned my house down, you know."In a second they roughly manhandle you to the ground, slapping a pair of cuffs around your wrists. You can hear a few of them radio in: "The Joker has been apprehended. Returning to holding facility now." A confirmation is recieved from the other end, and in a moment they have you in the rear of one of the humvees, two guns trained on your head.
>>43077362Thank Matches for his help, jokingly mention to Matches it took everything we had not to pull a water gun on him when we ran into each other in Crime Alley. Mention we might need his help later.
>>43077670You realize you should be scared, but yiu remain surprisingly calm. You trust your people to follow through and break you free- and if not, well, it's not like you have much to loose. The humvee you are in travels in the middle of a group of three through the streets of Gotham; you notice them go over the same bridge twice, clearly trying to confuse anyone trailing the vehicles, or preventing you from radioing a location somehow. Were you not already aware of your destination, it might be impossible for your people to find you. The soldiers in the vehicle are completely silent, still maintaining radio silence with their comrades to prevent any signal hacking shenanigans. You near the narrows, and a vehicle pulls in front of the humvees. Another closes in behind them. A simple signal jammer prevents them from calling for help, and a laughing gas canister rolled beneath the vehicles floods them with poisonous gas. You smell an overpowering sickly-sweet smell of pistachios, but feel no ill effects. The soldiers, however, die laughing. The jammer is deactivated and few men work quickly, stripping the soldiers of their uniforms and dressing themselves. You recognize two of them instantly, one of them struggling to fasten his belt around his stomach."D! Holly! What the hell are you doing? I told you I was going this alone."One of the men nearby that you don't recognize jumps into the vehicle next to you. "They told us you'd need 'em, boss. Nothin' we could do.""I wasn't about to let you do anything this damn stupid by yourself," says Dwayne."For once, we agree," says Holly. "You'll need someone on the inside to let you out of your cell or whatever."Without either of her stage makeups, Holly looks like a different person- plain and inconspicuous. Were Dwayne not so huge, you wouldn't recognize him either. You sigh. "Let's just get this over with. Tell me there are no other suprises?" (Cont)
>>43078134"None that we have planned, at least." says Holly. "D's little playmate went back to the plant with the others, so for the rest of the night it's just the three of us."Dwayne nods. "I told another of our guys to go get Spike and take him to a safe place. Once we're in they'll hit the jammers again, then take these trucks there. He said he should be able to find any trackers inside- we ain't got many supplies, so these'll be something." "Nice to see the country finally giving back to the poor and downtrodden," you say. "Especially now that we are the poor and downtrodden."Within a few minutes you arrive at the docks, and find the rendezvous point- an inconspicuous warehouse, the only indication that it's anything special being a pair of armed soldiers outside. The others get out of the vehicle and roughly handle you, taking you inside. "Joker," says Dwayne. "Let's get him booked quick. Bastard always creeps me out with that smile." The other soldiers nod, pat you down, and run you through a metal detector- all clean. They give Dwayne and Holly the go-ahead, and the two take you through the warehouse. You step out onto a small powerboat, and head towards the ship. While a ladder would normally be used to allow passage onto the boat, due to the prisoner transfer, a large hook and wench is used to lift the entire boat up onto the ship. Your friends press their guns into your back and lead you out onto the dock of he ship. A small group of hurried men join in, all carrying guns, and you are led to a metal shipping container, and sealed inside.
>>43078485Time passes. You can do little else than walk back and forth inside the container. You wonder how the others are doing- whether they are okay at all. They're out there amidst the soldiers, and their charade can't keep up for long.A heavy metallic knock echos through the shipping container, startling you."Catering," says the voice. Another voice joins in. "Step away from the door, please. I repeat: step away from the door."The metallic door of the crate opens slowly, and two gunmen enter, followed by an athletic-looking man in a simple apron, carrying a tray of food and condiments. One of the gunmen takes the tray from the man, who gives you a knowing blink. In one single swift motion he takes the squeeze bottles of ketchup and mustard from the tray, and sprays it into the faces of both men. They sputter and cough, and you see their hands begin to turn red and swell. They fall to the ground wheezing."Anaphylactic shock," says the man. "Should be out of it for a couple hours. By that time they'll be on their way to Metropolis.C'mon, partner. We gotta get you out of here.">wat ask
>>43078576Hey Mitchell, how've you been? Also, I need on that boat, man.
>>43078576Wait, why do I need to get out of a place I was headed on purpo- tell me you didn't give Dwayne and Holly a dollop or three.
>>43078576You know we're getting everybody out of here right?
>>43078576"Mitchell!" you exclaim. "Where've you been? We've been trying to get in touch with you for days.""Been doin' some recon, partner. Nobody suspects the help. I wasn't moonlightin' on ya or nothin'," he says quickly, "but we're in this together, and I got my own stuff goin' on.""Mitchell..." you tell him slowly. "Did you happen to get the soldiers who brought me in here?" He shakes his head. "Just missed 'em, man. Sorry about that. Don't go gettin' any ideas to go after 'em, though. It ain't worth it. Every soldier in the place'll be on you in minutes. Now hurry up, man- we gotta get you out of here!""Mitchell, you do realize I got myself caught on purpose, right? I'm busting everybody out."A beat. "I... did not realize that, no," he says, looking down at the soldier wheezing on the ground in a puddle of mayo. You continue, "Those two soldiers were Holly and Dwayne. They're going to be coming back for me soon..."Sure enough, in a moment, another pair of soldiers carefully enter the room. "They got cameras everywhere, boss, we got to be real quick about-" Dwayne starts, turning to you and noticing your companion and the gasping men on the floor. "...you call for takeout or somethin'?" "It's Mitchell," you tell him. "He's been spying here for days; that's why we couldn't reach him. He came to break me out." Mayo shrugs. "Yeah, sorry about that, guys.""Well, maybe he knows where all the prisoners are," suggests Holly. "We don't have time to open up all these containers.""Totally," says Mitchell cheerfully. "There's a vampire in the one next door; ain't nobody allowed in there. They couldn't move her during the day so she's been here for a while. And some bad ass assassin got picked up earlier, too."(cont)
>>43078978Well obviously we're getting the vampire.
>>43078978At the very least we're borrowing these fine men's guns.
>>43078978"They generally move 'em real quick, though," he continues. "Like, within hours quick. They got boats on call to take 'em straight to Metropolis when they can. One's probably coming for you guys now. Buncha guys already been moved out. Took that old lady from the theater, a bald guy, an' somebody dressed as a Pharaoh this mornin'. Freeze was stayin' in the freezer below deck yesterday; made it a pain in the ass to cook. Cut some deal I guess, because him an' his big-ass load of luggage went straight to the airport. Guess they're takin' him up north. The guy who was cryin' over the bats was here for a couple days, but I don't think he was in jail. Think they just took him to get him out of the way.""Wait, so that's it?" you ask him. "We came all this way, and the only ones here are a vampire and some assassin?" "Like I said, chief," he says calmly, "they're movin' 'em out fast. Figured they counted on stuff like this happenin'."You sigh. "Well, let's move fast- you said there were cameras. At last they're all above deck."You lift the guns from the men and offer one to Mitchell- he refuses, placing the condiment bottles in the pockets of his apron. The four of you slip out of the container, going around behind the back to avoid any cameras. Dwayne opens one of the containers that Mitchell indicates, and you peer inside. "We're letting you out," you say into the container in a hushed tone. "Please don't do your mind control thing." You pull the door open slowly, and Nocturna steps out into the night. "About time," she says. "I knew somebody would show up eventually. Funny it was you.""You know me," you say. "Always a real laugh riot."You make sure everyone stays far away from Nocturna, and she seems to oblige, walking at least a foot or two away from everyone else and keeping downwind. Mitchell points out the other container, sealed with a padlock. Knowing how little time you have, Dwayne starts to aim his gun at the lock....
>>43079196Well we do have the acid for that, no telling if we have time though.
>>43079313actually if it was supposed to melt through metal fairly quickly we probably do.
>>43078978>Some bad-ass assassinI want to say Deadshot, but I know you too well. And here's hoping the vampire is nightmare batman.
>>43079357It was Nocturna. The assassin could be anything from Zsas to Absence.
>>43079357OhRightNocturnaThat makes sense.
>>43079421Granted Dottie hasn't been found anywhere in the city so far, or arguably it could be Joker's Daughter.Or both, depending on how QM wants to play it and how much of a stickler he is for canon.
>>43079196"Woooah there, big guy," says Mitchell, reaching into his apron for a small plastic packet. He carefully tears a hole in one corner and squeezes a sickly reddish-brown substance onto the lock. The metal hisses and bubbles, and within moments the lock falls open. "Gimme a chance to curry favor with you guys."You lift the lock free, and open the door. In retrospect, you really weren't sure what else you were expecting."Well, tarnation!" says the man inside. "If'n it ain't my old business associate.""If'n it ain't my old potential assassin," you say to Shame, sarcastically."Like I said, business associate," he smiles. The man looks somewhat worse for the wear, his shirt untucked and torn, and his hat missing. "Mighty sorry I never could get Black Mask for ya, mind."You start to close the door. "Now hold on there," he stops you. "I'd reckon you'll be needin' a hired gun right about now. I saw how many of your boys got taken out. An' seein' as I still owe you... well, a cowboy always honors his debts...?" He looks at you expectantly.Against your better judgement, you let the man out. "I said we'd let everyone out. I still owe Irons for fucking with me. That does NOT mean I'm working with you, Tex." He closes the door behind him. "Suit yourself, pardner. Much obliged.""I guess that's everyone," says Mitchell. "Now we gotta get off this boat. What was your plan for getting off?""A...boat?" you suggest, hesitantly. "We figured we'd be able to use the same one we got here on to get off."He shakes his head. "Man, that's already gone. They don't keep boats out here in case there's a breakout. We all had to agree to stay for a couple weeks. If somebody needs to go back they have to catch a boat with a prisoner being delivered on the way back to the city. Only thing that stays out here is a couple life rafts.""...Which, I'm afraid, you won't be getting a chance to use," you hear a voice say.
>>43079582A group of soldiers ducks around the corners and over the tops of the shipping containers, all guns pointing at you.The commanding officer steps forward. "A man was found earlier today, dead from a heavy dosage of barbituates- so much that it burned a hole in his neck. Terrible way to go. We didn't think much of it, the bureau's brain trust insisted it was linked to something. Said it was a tell-tale sign of somebody trying to use truth serum, and that there was one person who specialized in poison's like that." He smiles. "Gotta say, those boys are good at what they do. Damned good.">wat do

>>43079713About how many soldiers do we have around us right now?
>>43079713"I mean how else would I have gotten this city on lockdown? You didn't think it was a little weird I killed all those people yesterday and nobody flinched?"
>>43080056red is soldiersYou are greennocturna is in the back bc of her B.O. problem
>>43080143Orange is the big wig then?
>>43080181Yes. You're the one at the top, right under the sniper.
>>43079713"Tell me, boys- any of you checked on the Governer recently?" you ask them. He raises his hand, and the men hold back their fire for a moment. "Is that a threat?" he sneers. "No," you tell him. "Somebody's playing all of us, and all this came down from the Governor. I've got a feeling someone at the top is being manipulated. I mean, how else would this city be on lockdown? How many people did I kill yesterday, and nobody even made a move on me yet?"The man seems unhappy. "You think just because you've gotten away with all this in the past, nobody could possibly care enough to stop you now? Times are changin', Joker. We're putting you behind bars."Suddenly you hear gunfire from around the ship. You think that the men are shooting at you- but no, they're shooting at the cameras."...Of course, we all had a little talk. Some of these boys have family in this town, Joker. Some of them knew people you killed. Not just yesterday, but for years now. So we all talked it out, and we agreed that if you happened to... resist arrest.... Well then, none of us would hesitate to put you down if we had to, despite what the boys upstairs asked for."With that, he orders his men to open fire.>roll 4d6>wat do
>>43080143Weirdly I feel like the best course of action might be to close with the snipers, using a combination of airborne acid and gunfire from us on the snipers, while other folks focus on taking out the dudes on the right.Or just walking slightly closer to the dude in charge and using ourselves as a distraction, along with taking orange guy captive and leveraging him.But I'd still rather start off by trying to talk our way out.probably use ourselves as a distraction here if we can't though. Since everybody seems pointed at us.
>>43080252Use ourselves as a distraction, go for the snipers, grab the acid throw it airborne and get Shame to hit it while making for the commanding officer. We're the problem here, and we'll use him as a human shield. Meanwhile while they're focused on us our guys blow out one side and either circle around or something. All the while we take pot shots at guys.Of course everyone should be using whatever cover they can scrounge up while we go do crazy.but between the acid, kevlar and everything else I think it workable.

Rolled 1, 6, 5, 1 = 13 (4d6)>>43080252"Oh you're one of those people."Acid the commanding officers group and rush in, use them as shields against the rest.Get our guys out of "the kill zone" as it were. Make them pick between putting us down or letting their comrades live.Acid the snipers too obviously if possible or have Mitchell and Shame work on that, or both.
>>43080252The men open fire, one of the bullets grazing your shoulder and leaving a deep gash. You shove the gun you took from the sick soldier and roll out, trying to tackle the commander. During this action you reach inside your stomach - much to the surprise of everyone else- and pull out a blood-soaked baggie. "Shame!" you shout, tossing it into the air near the snipers. He raises the handgun and fires a single shot at the bag, hitting it easily and spraying the men with the contents. They begin to fall down, laughing. As you grab the C.O. you again reach into your stomach, nearly retching as you try to pull the slippery plastic bag from inside your body. The unpleasant weight you've felt in your stomach is abated somewhat, but as you painfully pull your hand free from the cavity you feel a hot liquid streaming down the front of your body- you've started bleeding again. You toss the second bag into their numbers and they scatter, gunfire from your own crew driving them further back around the corner as you retreat. However, the well-trained C.O. is easily able to wrest himself from your grip- especially in your weakened state. He draws a knife from his belt and puts a knee on you. You feel something hot break loose inside your abdomen, and begin to get a little light-headed from blood loss."Not tonight, Joker. Tonight, you-"A hail of gunfire tears through the man's face, leaving behind an unrecognizable mass of gore. He falls on top of you, dead."Help him up," says Nocturna, as the two soldiers who had once been closest to her stiffly and shakily lift you to your feet. They try to put you down, but you are unable to stand steadily, so she has them hold you between them.A few moments later, Dwayne falls back with Shame. "That's the last of 'em, boss," he says, "but we gotta go right now. The rest'll be coming above deck soon."
>>43080728So let's go unless someone has anything interesting that they think I'd want to know. Nocturna? Shame?Any of my guys onboard or anything?
>>43080728Mitchell waves you all around the corner, and you all head to a small compartment near the side of the deck. He lifts out a small rope ladder, and pulls the cord on a large inflatable raft.Everyone carefully climbs down- including you, each step bringing a new pain to you. Once you're in the raft you lay back as best you can, breathing heavily. Holly kneels over you in a near panic as the blood stains your shirt and pants."Flesh wound," you tell her. "As soon as we get back I'll get it sewn up."Nocturna has the two soldiers paddle you back to shore. The waves toss your small group about unpleasantly, but as you get closer, the tides carry the boat in. The men drag you the rest of the way through the shallows, and Nocturna orders them to swim back to the boat."Their heads should clear up about halfway. If their stamina can carry them any farther, they'll be fine." You watch the two men swim to their almost certain deaths."Boss, we gotta get you back to Coal," says Dwayne. "You ain't lookin' so hot."You get to your feet with Dwayne's support, and you and your small band begin walking back towards the chemical plant. You duck down alleys to keep out of the way of police eyes, but try to take the most direct route. It feels like it takes hours. The entire time, Holly seems aflutter, barely knowing what to do with herself. "This is what we get for trusting that madwoman with you. If she killed you, I'll kill her, Joker. I promise. As soon as we get back, I'll probably kill her just out of principle. This was her plan the whole time- getting you to let her into your home with her grandmother routine, then cutting you open at the first opportunity..." She barely stops talking."Holly, I TOLD her to do this," you tell her. "I had to get some kind of weapon inside. And it worked, didn't it?""I still don't think you should trust her, Boss. I-"
>>43081247"Holly. Would you shut the hell up?" says Dwayne, heaving you up and helping you to keep standing. You are within a couple of blocks of the chemical plant now; you can see the broken neon sign on the tower. Strangely, it has been lit- perhaps your people are waiting for your arrival.Holly stops. "Unlike you, Dwayne, I actually care about him. I'm not just looking for somebody to fill a suit."Nocturna, Mitchell, and Shame all look to one another, confused."Nah, Holly. All you're lookin' for is somebody stupid enough to touch you long enough for you to get your claws into 'em. You always just been a gold digger, an' this whole psycho stalker things gettin' pretty old now. You been as bad as Top Hat this whole time, an' everybody's just waitin' for you to make one wrong move so we can finally be done with you, you goddamn harpy.""Schott," spits Holly. As soon as she says the word, Dwayne drops you, shoving her with all his might against the alley wall. You can hear her head crack against the bricks behind her, and she falls to the ground limply. For a moment you panic, thinking she is dead, but she lifts her head again, smiling. A mass of blood is on her lips; she must have bitten her tongue. "He told you he worked with us for two years, didn't he?" she tells you, propping herself up on a trashcan and trying to stand again. "But it was four. For two years before he joined up proper, though, he helped Joker run a smuggling operation with a man in Metropolis. How many kids did you kill, Big Guy?"She stands up, and faces the giant. "All of us know you pretend to be everybody's big brother because of what you did," she tells him softly. "But all you've ever done is get people killed, isn't it, big boy? But hey, don't worry, D-" She reaches into her jacket pocket, pulls out her stun gun, and pushes it into Dwayne's stomach. His body begins seizing. "I won't let anyone else die because of you.">wat do
>>43081506Stop them somehow, christ man. Dealing with psychotics is annoying
>>43081247"Holly, it'll be fine. You act like this is the first time I've had to deal with bullet wounds and internal bleeding. Just breathe."
>>43081506Get the stun gun away from Holly, and slap her if we are strong enough. If not, yell at her for being a cunt.
>>43081506de escalate the situation. If possible a simple "Nocturna if you please" If not, then shouting match. Remind people that this is neither the time nor place.
>>43081506"Stop!'Pick ourselves up as best we're able and limp between them. Just look her dead in the eye."Holly. Stop. Dwayne, I don't give a fuck what you did in the past. There's always a choice to be better than where you are now. Looks like you made it once already. You don't have to explain if you don't want.""Holly, I know, I know you've been under a lot of stress, and we'll talk this through if you need to.""But come on guys, not to be a drama queen or anything but I'm trying real hard not to bleed out here.""So let's go home, get me stitched up, and calm down. Alright?"
>>43081506"Stop! STOP!" you tell the, lurching forwards and knock Holly's hand away. Surprisingly, Dwayne is still able to stand- a testament to his strength."It will be fine, Holly. You act like this is the first time I've had to deal with bullet wounds and bleeding. Just... breathe, Holly, Christ. What's the matter with you?" You take the gun from her. She seems confused."This isn't the time or the place for this shit, and half of my innards are scattered halfway across the city. So PLEASE, can you both stop trying to antagonize each other?" You turn to the woman in black following you. "Nocturna, can you lend me a hand here? I'd like to get these two back, and I don't have time for a damned argument," you tell her."Gladly," she says. The two seem to go stiff for a moment, but Dwayne obliges easily. You can see Holly fighting Nocturna the whole way, however, red blood still on her lips. The rest of the trip is mostly in silence, with Mitchell's pestering of Nocturna the only conversation that still goes on."So... you're a vampire?" he asks."No.""So you're not gonna suck my blood?""No."He smiles. "...But will you su-""If you finish that sentence, I'll make you strangle yourself to death."Silence.Within a half an hour, you arrive back at the chemical plant, exhausted and in need of medical care. Dwayne lays you out on an overturned desk, and shouts for Coal....But Coal doesn't come. From the upstairs office, you hear footseps coming down the stairs. "Just like I thought," says a woman's voice. "You aren't my daddy at all."
>>43081745>>43081506"All of us. You two understand me?"

>>43081765"Don't really have time for the full story right now though, it alright if I find some way to stop bleeding real quick? Speaking of, tell me you didn't kill a bookish middle-aged woman. This'll be near impossible to fix myself."
>>43081765"No I'm not, but I'm the guy he left in charge and gave the big clown shoes to."
>>43081765"No, but he asked me to do this and I've known him a while now. "
>>43081765A pale red-haired woman comes down the stairs and kneels over you."Too bad we're not on Springer, huh? Might've laughed my gusts out.""He couldn't have gotten someone taller? And your face- " she places both hands on the sides of your face and squeezes. "Too fat. And you don't have the same... maturity he does." "You could say I'm adopted," you say through her squeezing hands. She removes her hands from your face, looks at them, then brushes them off."And makeup? Oh dear. I knew you were running a cut-rate job here, but if I knew things were this bad, I'd have stepped in a long time ago...""What's she talkin' about, man?" says Mitchell. "Who is this broad?""And another thing:" she says with a wicked grin, pressing her hand down on your open wound. You keep yourself from screaming, but only just. "...The REAL Joker isn't full of holes."Dwayne tries to make a move on her, but a hand reaches up blocks him. He holds back, surprised."Hold on there, D," says Dottie.>wat do

>>43082079"Oh for god's sake, you want one little swamp zombie v. Bat-man fight and to decapitate the city's power structure and look where it gets you. So I guess that means you have a choice kiddo, you an enemy or a friend? Personally, I normally like to split the difference."
>>43082079"Look, lady, I've not got time for the full story right now. You mind if I stop bleeding real quick? You didn't kill a middle-aged woman, right?""Doc's in her office," says Dot. "Told her to stay up there.""You know this lady, Dot?" you ask. The young woman interrupts."...I am the Joker's Daughter. His REAL Daugher," she says, jabbing you in the wound once again with a finger. "Well, lady, I'm the REAL Joker. He left ME in charge. Guess he figured you couldn't handle it?" you tell her. You have no idea who this woman is, but you already dislike her immensely. She sighs theatrically and throws a hand to her forehead. "Daddy wasn't in the best of health near the end. You must have taken advantage of him somehow. But now I'm here, and ready to clean up the mess you've made, and take my place as his heir."You reach a hand into your wound for the last chemical pack, hoping to burst it over this horrible woman's face. You might just laugh yourself to death with her. She looks at you in revulsion and mild confusion as you feel around in your abdomen."Are you... trying to touch yourself? I guess daddy never gave you 'the talk,' did he?" She laughs, and rouses some of the others into laughter as well. ...And you pull out an empty plastic bag. Suddenly you realize the heat you felt when the man kneed you in the stomach wasn't blood- it was poison. Your sickness wasn't from blood loss- it was from an overdose.
>>43082079I'd really rather not headbutt her if we can get her on our side but eh.
>>43082325I'd rather keep everyone else on our side then have her kill us. Only one person can lead, Anon. So let's stab the cheeky little cunt. Not enough to kill her, but we might as well get some Daddy-Daughter bonding time in at the doctors.
>>43082354Eh- by the time this is all over the poor girl will likely be torn between doing what dad wants and protecting her bro. And that's just plain funnier.
>>43082421Stabbing is ALWAYS funny, Anon.Except when it's us getting stabbed. That's only sometimes funny.
>>43082311>Flick some blood at herAt least you've got the princess attitude down. What's the matter? Afraid to get your hands dirty?>snicker a bitNo wonder he drug me back down here after I got out of Crown Point then.
>>43082311Im still voting for the headbutt op
>>43082311You try to think quickly. Though you're immune to the poison, you have no idea what that much of it introduced directly into your bloodstream will do. So far it's been nearly an hour, and you've already been feeling strangely. Symptoms you attributed to tiredness and bloodloss such as a slight loss off feeling in the extremities now take on a new meaning. You pay more attention to the difficulty you've been having breathing.Oh for god's sake, you try to set up one little Swamp Zombie/Batman fight and to decapitate the city's power structure and look where it gets you."You stand as best you can, leaning on the table. Though your footing is unsteady, you want her to see that you won't let her walk in and bully you."I guess that means you have a choice kiddo," you tell her. "You an enemy or a friend? Personally, I normally like to split the difference."She laughs again, and some of your men around the room join her. "Cute," she tells you, giving you a gentle shove. In your chemically-altered state, you fall back onto the table easily. She moves in closer, holding her face a few inches from yours. "Listen, Cousin Oliver- we don't need you here anymore. We don't WANT you here. I've come to take what's rightfully mine."She forces a hand inside your abdomen. This time, you do scream. "But listen to me, 'spilling my guts' to you- while you do the same for me."She removes her hand, and turns to address the others."I'm the new leader of this gang, just as I always should have been. You will all be free to go. Dottie, bring the old lady down. But all of you, remember- there is only one Joker. Anyone who chooses to go with him..," she smiles cheerfully and cocks her head, "-dies.""You may go tomorrow morning, at dawn. You've gotten yourself beaten up quite badly, it seems, and are clearly in need of medical treatment. Tonight, you are my guests." She twirls a finger, and some of your men- YOUR men- approach your group with guns.
>>43082464>>43082311Really just kinda ribbing and screwing around I meant."So, you feel like taking a few shots at me? Or are you here to help out? Could be fun. And you might learn something. I'm not going around calling you Joker's Daughter though. That just feels weird to me. You got a name or are you cool with being J. D.?
Damn phone keeping me from posting.Well, that was upsetting, though not as deplorable as it could've been. In hindsight, it was obvious their halfway house was for hot transfers. And now Duella's here, great.....***Chuckle weakly."Aw Sis, y'know Daddy dearest wouldn't leave me hanging like that. As it is, got me a case of the shakes. Need my doctor-doctor to patch me up! COAL!"
Can we just shoot her? Or knock her out? Christ almighty

>>43082575I feel a bit cheated tbh
Seriously, she thinks she can just walk in and take over OUR gang. I think Nocturna can help out with this issue while we....unburden our frustrations on this upstart here.Maybe nows the time for that pie?
>>43082512I keep telling you guys to go with the stabbing, but look what's happening. I guess we really weren't cut out for this job after all. Maybe we can pass the fuck out and dream of Adam West and a gentler, softer Joker that will only steal our cakes.
>>43082590>>43082575>>43082543Right? at this point, i say we throw the bag of tricks and let the gas kill who it may. Nod to our guys for a headsup

>>43082599Only if we ask her if it's okay to throw a party for her first.
We ain't Uncle J Classic, we don't have all of his goodies sadly. But we have to have at least a couple aces left.
>>43082639op said we have whatever is thematically appropriate a couple of threads back, so I guess its up to him?
>>43082512As Dottie walks by Holly to the doctor's office, you see a glare pass between the two of them. Whether Holly is still being held back by Nocturna's control, though, you can't be sure."You got a name, lady?" You ask young woman. "I can't just call you Joker's Daughter."She seems angry. Nearly furious, in fact, though she's clearly attempting to hide it. "Joker's. Daughter," she insists. "That's IT." In a second she regains her composure. You wish you could shoot her, more than anything else- but the drugs are finally starting to kick in. A crawling mass has begun to appear at the edges of your vision, like spiders closing in over your face. Every breath you take is starting to feel like ice."Take them downstairs to the freezer, and keep them there."As the group of you are marched past her, you stand in front of her weakly. She gives you a malicious smirk......And you slam your head directly into her face.It hurts you badly, and you fall down, but goddamn was it satisfying. She reels, and raises a finger to her nose. A small trickle of blood drips down."Get them OUT!" she screams. Your... HER men wrestle you to your feet and carry you downstairs, tossing you against the floor of the disused freezer. The others step inside as well, Coal, Holly, and Dwayne rush to your side."What happened?" said Coal. "I TOLD you this was a bad idea...""One of the bags," you say. "Thought you said I was immune?""Immune to NORMAL doses," she tells you. "I have no idea what this'll do. How're you feeling?"You try your best to describe your pain."...Sounds like a loss of blood pressure. I've had- SEEN this before. You'll just have to wait it out. We'll keep an eye on you; if you start falling asleep you'll stop breathing, but you should wake up. I'll try to do what I can about your stomach..."
>>43082639STABBING. It's timeless.> Stab JD. "Oh, looks like you lost your qualifications to be the Joker too."

>>43082731It's because we never commit to being a genuinely bad dude. So we get bitchslapped. The one time /tg/ should be playing a chaotic/stupid character and they manage to go Neutral.
>>43082731>Eyefu i.e. the one person we trusted to always have our back went rogue for bullshit reasons then we got cutscened to sitting next to her for hours saying nothing>No chance to ever talk to her again just her being overjoyed to help get rid of us while some random bitch tries to take our spot.>The only reason we're still here is probably that promise we made back in September>Meanwhile she hates us for not being the right kind of heroic.Totally not forced guys. Makes complete sense.
>>43082777It was a bit railroady, as loathe as am to admit that.
>>43082777I dunno, I think there's more to it than that. We haven't tried to talk to her since she ran out.
>>43082698The night is a long one. Your three friends crowd around you, while Nocturna, Shame, and Mitchell stand awkwardly by. Later, though you're quite out of it, you notice Mitchell come over and talk to the others for a bit, before taking a seat nearby.Your breathing is labored, and you are in constant pain from Coal's work. You see tumbling images of spiders on the ceiling. Your mouth goes bone-dry. You feel restless, though you want nothing more than to sleep- all higher thought processes are lost among the feelings of fear and pain that consume you. Within a couple of hours, however, your mind begins to clear, you begin to regain feeling in your extremities. You try your best to sit up a bit, but the pain from your stomach won't allow it.You don't know when it happened, but you become aware that for some time now you've been using Holly's lap as a pillow.Coal seems to notice you've come around, and looks relieved. Of course, she immediately begins berating you. "I tried my best to stabilize you before you left, but your wound was aggravated. Badly. The incision was torn open much more than I'd left it; I'd hoped the plastic would have prevented that, but the stitches were torn out. And inside... you're a bit of a mess. There's some bad tearing. I'm not sure HOW bad, but there were pieces... That can't be good."Mitchell seems uncomfortable. "So.... ah, hey, Partner- about what that lady upstairs said... What was all that about...?">wat do
>>43082819>>43082829Probably a big contributing reason is that QM wants to shove as much as he can in this personal 15 thread limit and it's doing the opposite as intended and fucking everything up

>>43082777she also gave us her broken eye instead of the one we gave her. I assume she kept that one. I think she's mad at us, but wasn't about to kill us or anything. When she walked out on us she dressed up like the Joker and tried to fight Grundy herself. Dot got mad at us for not being heroic, Dwayne got pissed off at us for trying to do what she wanted, and Coal gets pissed off when we aren't psycho murderers. Holly just seems kind of pissed off all the time now though
>>43082843"It's a bad joke, and I'm not laughing. But I will be before this is all over" and dream about how good things would have been if we had stabbed her then.

>>43082873I'm still a little pissed we didn't keep it since it was one guy who wanted rid of it.We should get it back at some point regardless of if we wind up with her. It's important to remember failures too.And at least when I wrote it trying to buy her or whatever wasn't even anywhere on the list for the mentality: I just wanted her safe and/or happy.
"She's crazy obviously CK, ranting about things she has no idea of. We need to get out of here and cut the head off this snake."
>>43082964I just wanted our bodyguard to not kack from gangrene, plus it seemed like a nice reward for all her help, y'know?
>>43082977Also that yes, not dying from gangrene is part of safe and/or happy.
>>43082843"I guess the Joker's kind of a mantle," you tell him. "As far as I know I'm the second one."He looks relieved. "Oh, is that all? I thought you were a clone or somethin'."You're a bit surprised by his reaction."I never knew the Joker to be a title," says Nocturna, "but I suppose that explains a lot of his... eccentricities. I've met both Ragdolls- I found both of them thoroughly unpleasant. And I think there's been... what, three Cluemasters now?""Far as I can reckon' there's been three Riddler's, too. Swear he was this short guy with a mustache one time," says Shame. Nocturna gives him a strange look, but ignores him."Myname's Brock Carter," you tell them "I grew up poor, did some things I'm not proud of to get out. I was a freelance negotiator and information retrieval guy. I managed to get accepted to Gotham U and spent the last six years of my life trying to help people in the long run even if it hurt in the short term. Paid my way through school by ripping off the Ice Berg mostly."They believe your lie."Looks like you got a real identity crisis goin' on now, huh partner?" says Mitchell. "Guessin' there's no way she's gonna sign up as your sidekick or somethin', right?"You pat the wound on your stomach. "...No, probably not. What time is it, anyway?""It's almost dawn," says Coal. "They'll be down soon to check on us.""I can't leave during the day," says Nocturna. "I'll have to stay here.""...I reckin' I should go with you," says Shame. "I still owe ya, an' you did break me out of jail..."You turn to Mitchell. "...What?" he asks. "'Course I'm goin' with you. This is a two-man show, ain't it?" Despite his delusion, you find his loyalty comforting."You know," you tell the others, "this is a perfect time to walk away from all this.""To where?" asks Coal. "You've got no money left to get us out, do you? Your little sister took it all." You hadn't considered that.
>>43083017well then its time to take it fucking back. Dottie taught us knife skills, I guess we get to demonstrate why loyalty is such a sought after trait, while we murder all of the ones who don't posses the quality.

Possibly while I beat her to death with her father's decapitated head while screaming something about giving 'Daddy' some sugar.
>>43083052>>43083131I'm glad to see people are finally getting on the stab train. But remember, we can't just stab her. It has to be funny. Like, stabbing her in the chest. After all, since she didn't stab us in the back by pretending to be friendly, we should at least return the favour. We can do it in the middle of praising her for how ruthless her take-over was and how it reminded us about what the Joker is SUPPOSED to be like. Terrifyingly funny. Emphasis on terrifying.
>>43083017"Well then," you tell her, "I guess we're taking it back. Let's show then why loyalty is so valuable, and kill all the ones who don't have it."You stand again, but are still in pain."You're planning to go start a war in the middle of your own headquarters, against your own men, barely armed and locked in a vault, in YOUR condition?" asks Coal incredulously. "You need time to regroup. Allies. Hell, what if this woman was the one that's been orchestrating all this the whole time? She's got your little cyclops with her. She could've been betraying you the whole time.""...No," says Holly. "There's a lot of things that horrible girl is, but... this isn't something she'd do."Dwayne says nothing for a moment. "I could give Matches a call," he suggests. "Harv is layin' low, but he's still out there. An' for the most part he's been an ally, ain't he? An' Penguin, too. Nightjar an' the twins are still out there, an' they're probably all together. Princess up there's got a lot of shit, but she ain't got experience, an' she ain't got allies. She's got a bunch of people scared of her for the moment, but once we get everythin' pulled back together, they're gonna run screamin'.""Either way," you tell him, "I'm going to kill her. I'll cut her god damned face off."A while later, the men open the door, and lead you out. Nocturna uses her mental control to convince them to let her stay, and the others start to lead you out onto the street. She catches you before you leave the room. "The park," she tells you. "Tonight, around nine." You nod to her, and continue outside. There you find one of the vans, and one of the men give you the keys. They raise their guns on you as you all pile into the van. Dwayne starts it up, and you drive away.(cont)
>>43083174"Back before all this- before school," you tell them, "I tortured a lot of people, and never killed anyone- not until they told me what I needed.""Eventually my conscience caught up with me. There was this girl cut up real bad in Crime Alley one night, yeah? I was headed home, so I drug her to a hospital in the Bowery. Said her birthday was June 6th, and her favorite color was blue, all while I was trying to keep her from going into shock.""That's all I remember from that night really. I told her my birthday was April 1st and she passed out laughing. That's the night I decided to get out and become a shrink. About six years ago."You almost believe it yourself. On the other side of town, seven men sit around a table. At the head of the table sits Irons. Edward Nygma sits to his left, and James Gordon to his right. "You were all correct about the Joker's movements. Our men confronted him at the temporary holding facility- we've moved it to a new location," says Irons. A murmur passes through the men. He continues. "He disabled the cameras on board the ship somehow, but from what we recovered, it seems that Natialia Night and the man known as 'Shame' are with him. He also had a spy amongst us- the man known who goes by the name 'Condiment King.' In the future, we'll have to screen our staff more thoroughly. You were also correct in predicting his simultaneous heists all around the city." He places a handful of evidence bags on the table, each of them containing a playing card. "Once we started finding the cards it was clear what he was doing. Unfortunately we've yet to find all of them, but in time we will. We're lucky he's leaving us clues, eh Mister Brown?" Irons smiles at a morbidly obese man across the table."...What we couldn't have predicted, however, was his movements this morning. In the past he's waited at least a day. It seems unlike him to leap into action so quickly."
Mr. Brown? Someone get a read on that?Ugh, I'm annoyed that it'll seem like the heist is going to bankroll this usurper
>>43083269Can you believe it? She stole our act!Really even if she hates us I don't see how Dot or Knock don't just kill her on principle. We come up with our own material, the original Mr. J would hang her on principle as an utter embarrassment to the family. We might do a comedy magic act, but that's not nothing! Stealing jokes because you have none of your own? That's just sad.Good thing we're not too far off from dear old dad, huh?
>>43083237"By the pricking of my thumbs! Is there any special significance to his new targets? We'll need a dossier," says a genial looking man with an oversized bowtie. "It's likely the beginnings of some sort of scheme. Something wicked this way comes...""Always Macbeth, eh, my friend?" says Irons, tossing a file folder across the table. The man in the tie opens it up, as the bald-headed man next to him looks over his shoulder. The fat man stands behind him.The three of them talk in whispered tones as they look over the documents. The last man, however, does not join them. "Are you SURE it's him?" asks the last man through the bandages covering his face.Irons tosses one final evidence bag across the table. Inside is another playing card- The Joker. The man does not take it."That's one. Where's the other one?" Nygma entertwines his fingers in front of his mouth and leans forwards on the table, his expression unreadable. No one speaks.
>>43083269"Arthur Clue Batman" in google gave me Cluemaster. There's seven people and we know Nigma, Gordon, Irons, and Cluemaster. I think Egghead showed up earlier too. There's two more I can't place.

>>43083338Oh dear, at least our fictional biography will throw his game off.On the other hand last I checked he simply desperately wanted to be Bruce Wayne.
>>43083368Well, he'd be in good company with Tommy Boy. That'll be a fun viper's nest to burn out. Glad to see they got our message at least.>>43083309I know, right!? If there's something I can't stand, it's a hack horning in on our act!
Oh, and here's one for the Junior Riddler Club members at home. (Yes, I know, I'm stealing someone else's schtick so soon after deriding someone else from doing it, but fuck it)Riddle me this: Why is the Bat not being the Bat? It's pretty clear he's deep cover as Matches Malone. Why isn't he doing the usual and letting the Feds tromp all over his territory, using a villain round table in the process even?
>>43083427Probably because he knows there's someone else pulling the strings of the Feds and is trying to figure out who set this whole thing up. Cause as bad as things are, if the Feds leave and then suddenly someone they missed (or original Joker) comes back, then they just handed Gotham to said person on a silver platter.
>>43083427Honest? Given that he's continuing to aid Brock as Matches, who wouldn't aid the original to save his life, it's entirely possible we're his Harvey #2. Classic J desperately needs the Bat-Man.Brock doesn't care about Bat-Man in the slightest unless he's trying to use another super villains lure as cheap entertainment, or the Bat threatens his guys.Otherwise we basically flip the bird, tell him to piss off and he sulks in the corner.
>>43083313You drive around town for a few hours, not knowing where else to go. As he drives, Dwayne gives Matches a call- though Two-Face has gone to ground, his men know where to find him.You drive up to a small law office in a bad part of town, and your small group enters. The lobby is a wreck- the old building seems to have been abandoned for a while. Dwayne motions for you all to follow, and you step into one of the back offices.Immediately, you find a gun trained on your head."Wait a sec, Harv! It's me! We're not cops!" you tell the man. He does not lower the gun.He cocks his pistol. "This whole mess is all your fault. I got half a mind...""Exactly, Harvey," you tell him. "You've got half a mind. You know you can't do it unless I get unlucky, right? So let's just skip all that and cut right to the case, because I've been unlucky enough.""Heard you sent out a call to my boys a while back. Told 'em you'd give 'em a job while I was down.""You know me, right? Man of the people," you tell him with a smile."I know you was hurtin' for people, clown. Figured you'd poach off everybody else while the competition was out of the way.""I did no such thing, Harvey," you insist. "I specifically said that I'd offer them protection while you and Penguin were out of the way.Listen, Harvey. Somebody's come into town and stole my act. Lady insisting she's the 'Joker's Daughter.'"Harvey drops his gun, and rolls his eyes."THAT one," he says. "Some kinda groupie. Shows up every once in a while callin' herself 'So-an'-So's Daughter.' Same thing every time. Shoulda seen 'Penguin's Daughter.'""So, what, she's lying? Who is she?" you ask."Deula Dent, she calls herself," he says. Everyone goes silent."Well?" he says impatiently. "What, some psycho with a personality disorder shows up an' pretends to be everybody's daughter, an' people always buy that she's the posterboy for personality disorders' REAL daughter, right? Just another stupid trick."
Poor Harv, no respect I tells ya.Give him hanky. As it stands, the goons we had under us decided they liked her line of crazy better for now, leaving us at ends. Got any advice for the clown down on his luck?

>>43083458Normally Harv I try to avoid hurting kids.I'm severely considering killing this girl though.Thoughts?
Upside this means the cat is out of the bag within the gang.Means we can swoop back in, not just as Joker, but as us. Or rather our version of the Joker.
>>43083458You don't press the issue"So what, got any advice? How do you guys normally deal with her?""Crazy broad'll have some kinda mental breakdown sooner or later an' get hauled off to Arkh-" he pauses. "...Oh, right."You see an in."I take it this girl isn't well liked, right? While we've all had a comfortable working relationship, all things considered. It's not in anyone's best interests to leave her in power, is it?"Harvey doesn't say anything."If all this was caused by me being irresponsible, just think what'll happen now that Twisted Sister has decided she's the real Joker. She'll go back to the old guy's brand of crazy, and that's bad for business, right? Or worse, she'll come up with some whole-new brand of crazy.""...Way I see it," he says, "You ain't been so good for business yourself. You an' your housekeepin' has been gettin' this whole damn city dragged into a mess.""More and more, it seems like that's all been one last joke the old guy is playing on us. I don't like it any more than you do, and with any luck, it'll be over soon. I think if we all buckle down we can weather this a lot easier as a team than as individuals." You make a motion indicating the rest of the room. "This place is a dump, Harv. You lived in a Penthouse not long ago.""...Which you gassed."You don't stop. "Look, my point is, we can get all of these bastards out of our hair together. We're all trying to pick of the pieces of what we have, here. And we all have a common enemy. What do you say?"He holds up his coin. "Good," he says, showing the side with a head. He turns it around, showing a scarred version of the same face. "Evil."Two-Face flips the coin, catches it, and slaps it on the back of his hand. He looks at it, and then covers it again. "Now tell me: how're you either of those?">wat do

In hopes he'd turn this city into a place where the original Joker couldn't exist. Not me, not you or anybody else from Arkham. Just him. And do you know the reason the election seemed genuine, Harv? It was. Every single thing I said- I never lied. I care about this city, but the Solomon Grundy convinced me Gotham needs it's it's monsters to be monsters, but it needs hope too. But you're better than that, and there's always a choice to be better or worse. I commit horrible acts to protect my guys and keep 'em fed. I might not be the original, but I'll be damned if I can't go darker if need to. I'm a monster Harv. I'm just a monster who's more comfortable hunting other monsters. You're askin' me if I'm Good or Evil? Harv, good or evil, I'm the Joker. I'm whichever I need to be. Wouldn't be much of a wild card if I couldn't."He looks at the coin again, and pockets it.You hear a clapping from behind you. You turn- standing in the doorway behind Dwayne, Mitchell, Shame, and Coal is Matches Mallone. "Hey that was real swell, Joker," he says. "Boss, I got the boys together like you said."Two-Face nods to him, then turns to you. "Alright, clown, I'm in. But I kill the girl whose been takin' my name, understand?""Wait," you ask. "What does he mean 'like you said'?""He called ahead to let me know you were comin'," says Two-Face. "But you had him get your gang together...?""Figured it was somethin' to do with this mess you started." You give him a look. "If I didn't like your answer I'da killed ya," he says,You step out into the lobby. "Well? How'd it go, Boss?" says Holly, slipping her phone back into her pocket. "He's in," you tell her.
>>43083686Now, now, you know that's not what I'm suggesting. Just in this instance, it happens to be the best thing to say.Monologuing for when it matters, like addressing the city, or when we're about to gut someone. Not when we're telling this two-bit timer what we are. Joker isn't good. Isn't evil. We just is.

You know they been raisin' hell all over town all day, right? Figured it was just business as usual until D called.""Deula Dent," you tell him. "Says she's my daughter. I suppose she thinks dear old dad's going senile or something, because she decided she wanted to take over the family business," you lie."Real cryin' shame," he says. "Kids these days ain't got no respect for their elders, right?" He smiles. "Say... I remember D introduced me to a kid in your gang a while back. Real tall guy, yeah? Seemed like a nice kid. Maybe in over his head. He still with you, or he with the girl?""He's dead," you tell him. It's true, in a way."Real shame," he says, shaking his head. "This business chews you up, don't it? Warned him to get out while he could. Ah, well.""So that's Two-Face and his men," says Coal. "And Dwayne says he can get some weapons. The ketchup man here and the cowboy seem willing to help. And it seems Nocturna is, too, if we pick her up tonight." She thinks for a moment. "We might also be able to get my colleges from when I worked with the police together- Langstrom and Doctor Brown. Or Spellcraft; I got her placed on my committee as a parole option. I haven't heard from her at all in ages.""Mitchell said Langstrom went to Metropolis, but he wasn't in jail. Brown was probably the same. I think Spellcraft was in jail, though."She seems crestfallen. You hear Dwayne swearing on the phone. He hangs up. "I KNEW that bastard Deckard just wasn't answerin' his phone." He shoves it in his pocket in a huff. "What'd I say, boss? DICK. He's a DICK."
>>43083836Yeah, I know. What's up?

"You know, ever since that night at the theater, I been in touch with..." He looks to both his left and right. "...The MOTH. He's been trainin' me, see? Gave me my own Mothsignal and everyin'. I think he wants me to be his sidekick, but I told him- I told him 'Me an' Joker, see? We're a team. Equals. An' he don't always answer it, so I always gotta use it somewhere different, right? But that's all part of the training. ...An' he didn't SAY he wanted me to be his sidekick, but I can tell, man. Point is, I can get him. An' that's somebody you want on your team, right?""Well then," you tell everyone. "Condiment King. Shame. The Crazy Quilt. Nocturna. The Killer Moth." You look over to the corner of the room, where a sneering face leers from he shadows at you. "....and Two-Face. And maybe Penguin," you add quickly. "It seems that we've assembled a band of some of the greatest supercriminals that I've ever met. We all have everything to lose during this lockdown, and together, we can tear this city apart- until everything's back the way it should be.""...So what now?" asks Dwayne. "Penguin, right? You wanna go talk to Penguin?"You think for a minute."...Probably. He likes to play legit though, doesn't he? We might be able to get someone on the inside through him. And we still haven't heard from Nightjar, have we?"
>>43083918Dwayne nods. "I'll at least try to get through to Nightjar. We might be able to pull her in. If Penguin's playin' nice right now, he'll still want someone down in the trenches keepin' an eye on things.""Then do it," you tell him. "And call Knock, too. I don't see him turning against us like that. I want everyone under one roof again," you tell him. You think for a second, and try to push something out of your mind. "...Everyone we can get.""...In the meantime," you tell them, "we have about nine hours before we meet with Nocturna, and that terrible woman out there is sullying my good name. Quest goes in the title, troll.
>>43083962You lead your small group through town, towards the old Novelty Factory. Though now blown out from the attack by the "Penguin's" men last month, you figure it's not quite outlived its usefulness. While you drive, Dwayne hands you his phone, and you call the plant through the still-working landlines inside. A man answers, and you ask to speak to the boss.A few minutes later, she answers the phone."Who is this?" she says cautiously."This is your father," you tell her. "I just wanted to check in on you, sweetie. Not staying out to late, are you? Not hanging out with any boys?"The tone of her voice changes to a cloyingly sweet one. "Oh, hiiiiii there, Cousin. I thought you'd have gone to ground by now. Shouldn't you be off licking your wounds somewhere?""I was wondering, Deula- you haven't got any friends over, have you? I need to speak to Penguin's Daughter..."The other end of the line is quiet."No? What about Riddler's Daughter? She's not there either? How about Scarecrow's-""-that wasn't-" she tries to interrupt."What about Catwoman's Daugter? Is she there? Or... hell, Ventriloquist's Daughter?""-I NEVER-""....Or Two-Face's? Just how many villains did the horizontal mambo with your mom before she had you, DeeDee?" you ask her. "Did she tell you they were all your father just because she couldn't remember?"You hear her start to shout on the other end of the line, but hang up on her. You swear you can almost hear a woman screaming over the noise of the city."She sounded pissed," said Dwayne.Your small group gets out of the car, and torches the novelty factory once again, this time making sure the fire spreads beyond the edges of the factory and over to the buildings next door. In front of the building, on the sidewalk, you leave a single playing card. "That should get her attention," you tell the others."By the way, I got Nightjar," says Dwayne. When she spots you she quickly comes straight towards you- you think for a moment she's about to hug you. She does not."Good evening, everyone. Joker," she says calmly. I knew you wouldn't get yourself caught. It was a terrible tragedy what happened to the park. Have you all gotten settled in somewhere else yet?"You explain to her the situation."...Penguin's Daughter, right? I know about her. She hasn't troubled us for a long time, though. I think the Joker just seems more glamorous. The Penguin actually does REAL work," she says proudly. Then she catches herself. "...No offence, of course.""How is Penguin?" you ask her. "The lounge got raided a few days ago, and we've not heard from him. We've got Two-Face signed on to help us break the lockdown, though- we thought Penguin might want in."She shifts nervously. "Mister Cobblepot... I don't know what happened, but he says he's leaving town. He's settling up his accounts and liquidating what assets he can. If it were any other man I'd think he simply felt like he had enough of the game, but...""...But he's too greedy for that," you finish."He left the Hostesses in charge. He told us to keep him informed of any changes, but he's withdrawn from daily operations completely. It's... not like him.""What about you, Nightjar? Are you looking to run with us for a while?""As far as I know." she tells you, "I'm still Mister Cobblepot's official liaison to your gang. I would be remiss in my duties were I to refuse.""Happy to have you back, then," you tell her. "What about the twins, though...?""Of course," she says. "Oh, present company excepted, of course.""Well, thanks for taking care of them, at least." you tell her. I thought you were- well, you said I was like... you know?"A beat."...You're a liar, an' you're a coward, an' you ain't suited for this job. An' I'll be damned if I let you die for it. You're a bad person, boss. Just like everybody else in this city. I got nowhere else to go. You stay here, you die with the rest of us.""...I think that's always been the plan, hasn't it?"The group of you stand in the night air for a few minutes. Finally, you speak. "I know I'm going to catch nothing but shit from you for saying this..."
>>43084703"...But I'm saying it anyway- there's no way in hell I'm leaving my best friends and the woman I love, just to go fuck off to the middle of nowhere. Especially when things are going bad."The park is silent, with the only sounds being those of the city around you."Well, I guess you made your choice then," she says. "Nothin' else I can do."The two of you stare one another down anxiously for a few minutes, before Nocturna steps between you."Well now, see?" she says. "Wasn't that fun? Now, I believe you and I had business of our own to discuss, Joker. I trust it won't be so dramatic?"Over the next few minutes you explain your plan to her. Due to her status as a wanted criminal, she agrees to join your coalition- provided she only be required to work at night."I'll need somewhere to stay during the day, too," she says. "I can't go back to my old hideout. That's where they picked me up.""...I think we all need somewhere to stay, Boss," says Dwayne. "Harv's place ain't that big.""...I don't suppose we have any other hideouts, do we?" you ask him, hopefully."None that we ain't blown up yet," he says."The apartment," says Dottie. Dwayne seems confused. "Before your time, D. Real old place.""Are you coming with us?" you ask her. "I can't go back after takin' all Deula's cash, now can I?" she responds.Having nowhere else better to go, you all head to the apartment on Dottie's lead, down an old street."Right here," she says. "Number 1." When you arrive at the door, she reaches under the mat, picks up a key, and unlocks the door. The small apartment is... completely normal looking, though the interior seems to have been decorated in the sixties. From the amount of dust, you imagine the place hasn't been used since then. You take a quick look around- the place is surprisingly large, containing three small bedrooms, a livingroom and dining room, and a kitchenette.
>>43084703Awwww, she cares!
>>43084890Huh. This is...cozy.
>>43084890Call dibs on the biggest bed, and do it quickly
>>43084890Right well, I guess we'll all fit. Good enough.
>>43084989No, the boys and or Dwayne need that. We don't give a fuck. Might grab a bed though. We still have the 'stab wound'
Quest goes in the title. Literally every other quest on the board can comprehend something as simple as this, why can't you? Or are you just intentionally trying to shitpost now, and think it makes you a rebel or something?
>>43084890"This is... cozy," you say. "Dot, is this the wrong place? Did we break into somebody's house?""Think this was from the old Boss's early days," she says. "No way he'd get caught with this stuff nowadays. I even seen some makeup around here one time I had to lie low here. Old boss never needed that."Right, well, Nocturna, there's a bedroom without windows. That'll be your safest bet. The other girls can take the other bedrooms. The other four of us-""The THREE of us," says Dwayne. "You're still the boss. Ain't proper for the boss to be sleepin' with the rest of the gang. The girls can share a bedroom. You take the other one." You can here him stress the word "other."After two long days, you're feeling quite tired. Though things looked quite dire, it seems that today things have started looking up. You have allies that your rival doesn't know about- and the thought of how angry you made her on the phone makes you quite happy. And... Dot's back. You lie back in the bed and smile. Things are looking up..."He was right," says Irons, handing Nygma an evidence bag containing a playing card. "Questioner was right. There's two Jokers.""Looks that way," says Nygma, taking long drink from a coffee cup. "Two to a deck. I heard him make the joke before. It looks like there's a full house in Gotham right now." He shuffles three cards in front of him on the desk- The King, Queen, and Jack of hearts."I think that's a Royal Flush, isn't it?" says Irons, chuckling to himself and walking away."...Either way," says Nygma, picking one of them up. "WE hold the Card."
We've pretty much never tried anything. Why's everyone keep assuming our reasoning for the shit we do is getting our dick wet? Jesus.Anyway thank god we're sleeping alone for once.
I may have missed something but, where the fuck is batman?
>>43085211Fuck Batman. We got this.
>>43085258I'm not asking for batman to swoop in and solve our problems. He just sorta disappeared and we haven't seen or heard of him doing anything since.
>>43085070You sleep soundly until what you suppose is the very early morning, when a sound wakes you. You hear a muttering from the bathroom joining your bedroom to the one the girls are in.Gently, you knock on the door. "...You okay in there?" you ask softly. The voice on the other side of the door goes quiet, and you hear someone shuffle inside. Against your better judgement, you cautiously try the door and find it unlocked. You open it a crack."...What the hell have you done?"Inside you see Holly, a knife in hand. She is still wearing the pants of the army fatigues and what looks like a filthy t-shirt. The sink and floor are covered with her blonde hair, and her head is ragged. She looks like she's been crying."...My hair was tangled," she tells you, trying to pick it up and hide it in her hands."Look, Holly," you tell her. "You've been in the middle of some kind of breakdown for a while now. You're making me nervous, Holly. Serial killer nervous. What the hell's been going on with you lately?"She stands in the middle of the room uneasily. "I... I tried," she says weakly. "I tried to hold myself together, but... I guess I couldn't. I never had anything under control at all." She looks you in the eyes, sadly. "I'm sorry, Brock. For what it's worth... I'm sorry."You are rightfully confused. "You're not making any sense, Holly, What-"She takes your head in her hands, and presses her forehead to yours. Not a kiss- just contact. "I have to go get some things from my apartment. I'll be back as soon as I can, I promise."She quickly leaves, though you try to stop her; by the time you reach the door of the apartment and look outside, she's already gone. You have a sinking feeling in your stomach, and spend the wee hours of the morning cleaning Holly's tangled hair from the bathroom floor.
>>43085211>>43085274matches is batman
>>43085275"Guys, Holly is flipping the fuck out.""I might need to spend a day trying to help her get her shit together."
>>43085275Everyone awakes the next morning- except, of course, Nocturna. You enter the living room- there is no sign of Holly. "Check it out, partner," says Mitchell, holding a cellphone to you. "Your girlfriend was real busy last night."You see the news anchors, somberly announcing another crime in Gotham. "Although the city is under lockdown, it seems crime still runs rampant in Gotham. Last night, a wave of jewelry store robberies culminated in this announcement by one of Gotham's lesser-known criminals." The screen changes to an image of Deula, standing on the roof of a car. A building behind her pours green smoke."The Joker is dead," she announces. "The man that's been masquerading among you all is a fraud. For months now he's fooled this city- but today, I promise to return things to normal once again, Gotham. I am the Joker's Daughter. The REAL Joker's Daughter. And I promise you, Gotham- I will make sure you never forget my father's name." The camera cuts."...Reports from Arkham Officials indicate that this individual's name is 'Deula Dent,' alleged daughter of Harvey Dent, ex-district attorney and known supercriminal. She is known for harboring delusions of false parentage, and..."Mitchell cuts off the video feed. "Guess she outed you, huh?" he says. You're taken aback. Nobody bothered to do anything like this before. There's nothing to gain from it, unless..."She's crazy," says Dwayne. "She ain't lookin' to win anything. She's just lookin' to beat you down.""We have men now," you tell Dwayne. "And guns. Last night we simply annoyed her. Today, we start destroying her. And I have a plan...">what is your plan?>how will you perform it?>what will you need?>You've not got many resources, but you've got prep time>Or is there something else you'd rather do?
>>43085395>>43085404i think it might be best to let her do her thing. she'll show up again. dottie did
>>43085404Nope? We're a psychologist, you want to leave one of our guys in full freakout? Bitch is basically our slightly more conniving sister from another mother. We at least owe it to her to listen to what she's going through.
>>43085435we've been pushing her away ever since we met her and we're suddenly worried about her?
>>43085414Alright, head count, what've we got?Dot, call Holly, she's in full freakout and needs to come in. I can help, maybe, I tried talking to her about it a couple days ago...but getting an honest answer out of her you know.Normally I'd just bait everyone following Duela into the factory with her and set the place ablaze. Unless we want to convert the Monarch Card building though that's stupid. But this "Dent" girl...on top of being a joke theif, is desperate for attention. She's an escapist who wants an audience. Bitch has delusions of grandeur and severe entitlement issues. If we want to catch her, all we need is to give her a stage that's too good to pass up.Any ideas?
>>43085469She's only recently gone literally crazy though
>>43085469We're worried because she's a friend, it's platonic love and concern anon.
>>43085534Don't forget that everything in her sways to placate her malignant narcissism.
>>43085617She is like the original in that way I guess."Dot, where's Holly's apartment exactly?"
>>43085534What I'm saying is if we bait for her base drive it's like a moth to flame. Even if she knows better, she'll get close and find out the box she thinks we're trying to trap her in has a Jack in it.
"Dot, call Holly- she's having some kind of freakout. I might be able to help . I tried talking to her about it a couple days ago, but getting an honest answer out of her... well, you know how she can be.As for Deula, normally I'd just bait everyone into chasing her into the factory and setting the place ablaze. But unless we want to find some kind of new base, that's stupid. This girl's a joke thief. And she's desperate for attention. Delusions of grandeur, severe entitlement issues, and some kind of malignant narcissism.""So... she's you," says Coal." I think she's after an audience," you tell the others. "If we want to catch her, we need to give her a stage that's too good to pass up."You turn to them. "She wants to be the Joker, right? And what's the one thing the Joker does best?""...Joke?" asks Mitchell."He fights Batman. We need to give her the perfect chance to play out her fantasy. All I need is a Batman costume and a some way to transmit a challenge. She'll come right to me for a fight.""She'll know it's a trap, boss," says Dwayne. You shake your head. "Of course she will. But we're toying with her psychosis. Even if she knows better, something that appealing will attract her like a moth to a flame. And if she's already prepared for the trap, then once she gets close, she'll find out that the box she thinks we're trying to trap her in has a Jack in it.""Might be able to get you a Batman costume," says Dottie. "Not a good one, but it'll have to do."
>>43085414Actually using our psychological stuff that other anons are on about we could probably figure out her next target. And spoil the punchline. But for now we need to check on Holly.
>>43085758Close Coal, I'm an unmedicated sociopath whose base drives are weirdly geared to competing ends. Not super fond of the lime light honestly, it's just a part of the job.
>>43085872And there's a dozen or so anonymous people on the Internet manifesting as competing voices in my head telling me what to do
>>43086013That doesn't help matters, no.
>>43086013Beat."Well they can't all be gems I guess. Usually cracked up Lester though."
>>43085758As you begin work, you call Dot over."Dot, have you spoken to Holly yet? She didn't seem right when she left earlier. I'm a little worried about her..."She rolls her eye. "Can't stand bein' away from her?""You know that's not it," you tell her seriously. "Something's been off about her for a while now. I think there's something wrong with her.""You're JUST figurin' that out?""Moreso than usual."Dottie shrugs. "She's fakin.' She's just found the one thing that she thinks'll trick you into lettin' her wrap you around her finger. She's figurin' that if you ain't gonna fall for her hooker act, that you'll fall for the broken bird routine. Figures you're lookin' for somebody to save. She ain't wrong, is she?" she asks."You didn't see her, Dot. Or talk to her. I think she might be some kind of serial killer...""Just leave her be, an' let her throw her little tantrum or whatever. She'll run away for a day or so, an' once she realizes nobody comes after her, she'll come waltzin' back in here to cause more problems."You let the matter rest, but you can't help but worry about it. The group of you spend the rest of the day working.
>>43086195At around noon, Mitchell receives a notification on his phone- an emergency newsfeed regarding Deula. He switches it on and places it on the table.Deula must be filming amongst a mall's disused Christmas decorations. She is sitting on a large red-and-gold throne, a plastic reindeer's severed head attached to the top. A web of Christmas lights spread out behind herm glowing eerily."I know it's a bit early for Christmas," says Deula, "but I hate to see all the sad faces on Gotham's children. Auntie Joker does so love to spoil them, so I've sent them all a little gift. Nothing much; just a little something to lift their spirits. So chins up, Gotham- WAY up," she laughs. The cameraman filming pans the camera upwards. "Not YOU," she hisses. The camera refocuses on her. "I believe they should all be opening their gifts..."You hear a distant rumble outside the window. Sirens follow shortly after."...Now. And if you're children weren't at school to get their presents, don't worry- there's plenty more coming soon. Have a lovely day, Gotham."The feed cuts directly to the news, already in progress. It seems that a few moments ago explosives were set off in Gotham's schools. The amount of casualties and degree of the damage is unknown."Auntie Joker?" says Coal."Better than 'Auntie Joker's Daughter'," you say.
>>43086206>That lazy referenceIt's November. What is she the Dollar Store gender-bent...oh yeah. Anyway, tell me we're closer to being done than we are.But seriously, where we at?
>>43086206>Must resist rising urge to murder a teenage hack.
>>43086206Late evening arrives, and you hear Nocturna rouse in her bedroom. With all of your preparations ready, you head out- ready to trap Deula, and reclaim your gang.Near the middle of the city, on the steps of city hall, your small band (with the help of Two-Face's men) set up a large spotlight. Then they light it- on the clouds in the night sky, bright yellow circle is projected, with a dark bat shape in the center. You make the final adjustments on your Batman outfit- blue and grey, not black. And flimsy cloth, too. It's thoroughly unconvincing. Dwayne hands you a cell phone, and you dial the Chemical plant's number. When someone answers, you ask for Deula- she isn't in, so you ask for her number. You call the Joker's Daughter."What is it now?" she asks, impatiently."You're not getting away with this, Deula," you say, making your voice into a rough growl."Olliver!" she says, that foul sweetness in her voice again. "I'm a bit busy right now, but-""The sky, Deula."There is a pause."I'm taking you down, Deula. Just come to the spotlight.""But... You're lying," she says. "It's you, Cousin. I know it is.""I'm Batman," you tell her. "The real Joker would never turn down an invitation from Batman."She goes quiet. Then she jumps back on the line, more cheerful than before."Well then, Batman, you should probably know that I'm having a little show of my own- and I've got front-row seats just for you. It'd be a pity for you miss my big night. And I'm sure the other girls wouldn't appreciate it, either...">wat do
>>43086494Bait her along into revealing things, apparently she's a bit like us, we know her. We can play her by jerking her ego around.
>>43086494Taunt her big night "So just murdering children again Deula? Do you even come up with your own jokes?"Man the original joker must be having a hell of a time watching this shit go down. Its basically the best holiday ever.
>>43086643Also we should really hijack a haulage truck and just ram it full of explosives. For when we need to make an entrance with a big bang. What happened to our accountant mind? Need to pick his ass up sometime or else the money will just keep flowing to loony lue.
>>43086494Yeah, repeating the bit I did 4 days ago, real, um, clever Duela.Wouldn't it be funny if most of what you knew about the Joker was my work?I mean I've been at this about, Christ...4 years now?
>>43086708>>43086494It's just, there's a rhythm to these things Duela. The old man took me under his wing and started teaching me the basics when I turned 18. You're all caught up on the glitz and the fashion, but you're missing something. Care to guess what?
>>43086708Probo wont believe the 4 years ago bit unless we add on being an underling.D probably ignores underlings 99% of the time so it'll be believable.
>>43086494Serving Duela up the Bat? How rude.
>>43086494"Tell me what you're planning, Deula!" you growl at her.She laughs. "That's not the game, Batman! I put on a show, and you come and chase me, rough me up a little, and send off to bed at Arkham.""Murdering kids again, Deula? Who writes your jokes for you?""Everyone knows you've got no sense of humor, Batman, and I was laughing!"She's clearly enjoying herself. Even though she knows who you are, she's still letting herself get swept up in things. You can't help but feel a bit unclean."You're just doing what the other Joker did, Deula-""...The fake?" she says, venom dripping from the word. You pause."...The fake." She laughs maniacally. "What If I told you everything you know about the Joker was him? He's been working for almost four years now.""We both know that's not true, now don't we, Batman? I've got it on good authority-""WHOSE, Deula?" you ask her. "Who told you?""You'll never get a word out of me, Batman. I keep my promises; I was a Girl Scout, you know.""There's a rhythm to these, Deula. The last Joker had been training the one you replaced since he was 18. You're all caught up in the glitz and the fashion, but you're missing something. Care to guess what?""I know EXACTLY, what I'm missing, Batman," she says. You hear a gunshot. "I'm missing YOU," she pouts. "And I CAN'T. BELIEVE. YOU'RE. STANDING. ME. UP." She punctuates each word with another gunshot. "And on my big night, too. Now are you coming to do this properly or are things going to have to get messy here?">wat do
>>43086880Keep the bat signal up with a note on were mrs deranged is.She wants to dictate terms and has the better of this. So we need to show her up.Deny her big party, go grab oswald and valubles from the hide out and gun down any traitors we find. Keep the bat suit on the back burner for another day.
>>43086880>Hang up"Guys! Bad news! She's insisting the show come to her. On the one hand it's stupid to go, on the other hand she's killing...I don't know something. I guess it could be her men, but there was this comment about the girls getting super disappointed that's making me wonder why she would say that. So, good news, she's super excited, bad news she's responding to traps and lures the way I normally do.....well fuck that, I'm getting my smilex grenades and kicking this girl out of my house...well maybe not, I mean I know what she's doing but I'm curious what she has planned. And when we get the factor-nah, one thing at a time, that's bit me in the ass before.Jesus Christ, am I that annoying?
>>43086880Herr me out, not sure if this is good, but we could show up, play batman, then when she goes into a monologue we just take a gum out and shoot her? She won't expect batman to have a gun right?
>>43087002Sounds like we are going to get the real batman show up right behind us and do the turn around thing, then get fucking ignored. Not showing up ruins her fantasy and takes the joy out of her night. Hitting her on top of it so she has no were to return to will make her even more angry, which will make shit easier for us to work with.
>>43086998Also, lying to that girl was a weirdly positive experience. So...I mean normally I'd say 'do it anyway', but, with the resources she has and we don't, plus man power.Fuck it. Get me all the explosives. We'll rebuild a wall if we have to.Of course with the lock-down that might be easier said than done but maybe keeping things decentralized is for the best. I'm just sick of hiding from...that.So, thoughts?
>>43086880"Hell with it, Dwayne, get me some grenades, gas grenades, and whatnots. Give me a head start. I'll play in.Somebody tag her while she's distracted. We got any lethal smilex grenades? I'd love to show the guys how much I missed them.
>>43087155I wonder if the smilex has started to do anything permanent, like lightening our skin unnaturally.
>wait, do you want to go to Deula, or ignore her and go behind her back? or split the difference and send some guys to the plant?>I've got two completely different paths going
>>43087184Given that our most major exposure was internal? Probably not noticably. On the other hand maybe our blood is now a virulent toxin.
>>43087196>nevermind, I've got it.
>>43087196Personally? I'm for going. Us first of course since we're Bam Ham. Then maybe other folks head in once we get her and her guys distracted. Because fuck these people and it seems least likely to have terrible horrible effects. Also once we have the facilities we should set the guys up with anti-smilex shots.
>>43087276Inner members only.
>>43086880You run the plan through your head."Where are you, Deula?" you growl at her, doing your best Batman impersonation. "Right HERE, Batman!" she laughs. You see a pair of spotlights flick on in the sky, and follow them down on the other side of town."Don't you hurt ANYONE, Deula. Do you understand me? I WILL find you, and I WILL put a stop to you. I'm coming for you, Deula."She laughs like a madwoman. You hang up."Alright, guys. Looks like I've got to go pick up my prom date. D, send Harv's men straight to the Chemical Plant. We'll hit her while she's out. Have them swipe whatever they can. ESPECIALLY Coal's chemistry set upstairs. I don't want to have to rob the school again. Everybody else, let's go. I'm gonna need backup."You follow the lights through the streets to downtown Gotham - to the Monarch Theater. Two huge spotlights shine in front of it, and purple, green, and orange streamers hang from every window. You head inside the theater. There, in the front of the room, stands Deula. Seven corpses sit behind her. Two are sitting in the front row- it takes you a few minutes to recognize them. Deula is wearing a long orange dress, with a sash across her chest. It reads "MISS GOTHAM."
>>43087325"Sorry Batman," she says, "I guess I lied- I killed them before you even called." She hops down from the front stage, and starts walking up the aisle."And now fight- just like we always do, right?" She seems almost manic."No, Deula." you tell her. "...Because I don't care."She stops."I just came to see what kind of a mess you'd made of things," you tell her. "Still ripping off jokes?""I'm making them BETTER," she says. "You always made things so overcomplicated, and never achieved anything. You'd spend a month trying to give bombs to children, and why? So they WOULDN'T blow themselves up? You were all buildup, and no punchline!""And you're too blunt," you tell her. "This isn't a joke. It's.... a curseword or something.""It's ELEGANT," she insists."It's boring," you tell her. You turn and start to leave, but she runs after you. "You're SUPPOSED to HIT ME!" she shouts. "That's what Batman does!"You turn to her for a moment. "Deula, how does it feel to know Batman doesn't care about you in the slightest? That' he's willing to turn his back to you and walk away. You're that unimportant, Deula.""You're NOT BATMAN!" she screams. You turn to walk out. "...And you're not the Joker."
>>43087520Drop the mic
>>43087520Chuckle a bit." This is getting old and plain boring." Keep walking
>>43087520She screams like a banshee, and shouts to her men to shoot at you. You duck out of the theater quickly, and rush to your car. "Well?" asks Dottie."Probably took a few years off her life in there, I got her blood pressure so high. If we keep that up maybe she'll die on her own," you say, removing the Batman mask. "Call me crazy," says Dwayne, "but I'd rather we handle this sooner, rather than later. I called Two-Face's guys; they said they got into the plant. Cleaned the place out- had to kill a few of your guys, though.""They weren't my guys," you tell him. "What'd we get?"'Sides the chemistry set? Guns mostly. We ain't had time to order any gadgets yet. Red might be able to fix somethin' up if we ever see him again.""She's gonna be pissed when she gets back to the Plant," says Dottie."I know, right? Wish I could see it."You return to the apartment.Jim Gordon sits in the darkness of his office."It's not her," says a voice from the darkness.Gordon rubs his eyes. He's tired. A man of his age can't handle so many long nights like he used to."Who?""The girl claiming to be the Joker's Daughter. That's not Deula.""She's got all the signs...""She's got similar disorder, and a few physical similarities, but that's it. This girl's irrational and narcissistic. I've met the real Deula- this isn't her.""Then we've got TWO impostors out there?""And both of them are at each other's throats," says the man in the darkness. "They'll tear this city apart.""But WHY?" he asks. "You think it's..." Gordon turns, but the man isn't there. He sighs..
So i've been thinking. We might have to make a trip to metropolis soon. The FBI can play ring around the rosy's with our deranged playmate in the meantime, we just need to push her in the right directions.
>>43087849In the other room, a small group of people cluster around a table. One tall, severe looking man stands over a map."Our men tracked the first target for seven minutes south through town." He marks a perimeter on the map. "We only tracked the second one for four, heading east." Another mark. "By monitoring their motions, we should be able to pinpoint their locations," he says.Irons nods to him. "Thank you, Mr. Fugate. And the rest of you?"The tremendously fat man stands. "The new girl's patterns are mirroring the old one's, obviously," he says. "But we can't be sure how she'll interpret it. The other always reacts; he rarely is the first to make a move. He plays cautiously. Beyond that, though? Only some less-pressing matters dealing with lesser names...""Thank you, Mr. Brown." Iron looks to his men. "You're doing fine work, Gentlemen," he tells them all. "Once we've cleaned up Gotham, your debt to society will be repaid. You're already doing this city a world of good. And now, we've got another person whose offered their support to the initiative. Gentlemen, I'd like you all to greet Priscilla Cris- one of Joker's henchmen. She's agreed to give her full support to our investigation. With her, we have a remarkable insight into the inner workings of the Joker's-"He continues for a while, but Nygma isn't listening. After the fat man has finished introducing the blonde woman to the others, the small group breaks. Nygma takes one of them aside- the man with a bandaged face."I'd like you to look into a Personell matter for me," he tells the man, slipping a piece of paper into his hand. Nygma leaves, and the man looks at the card he'd been given. It's a playing card- the King of Hearts.>end of issue 12

>>43088271To who? That was the end of the issue. Sorry I didn't go to 300 like I normally do, but its been a while, and this seemed like the best stopping point. Anything else would just be filler.
>tfw your waifu is evilNow I know how dotfags feel
>>43088349Thanks for running man.Shit is fucked and we are on the roller coaster to hell.
I thought you said Holly was pregnant last time, QM?
>>43087849If she's not Deula, who is she? Do we know who the other villains working against us are?
>>43088415Was a joke ano-hell of a thing wouldn't it?
>>43088349Filler's not a bad thing necessarily.Any idea when you'll run again?
>>43088349Was asking you. You are a fucking trooper so figured I'd ask
Hmm, so Joker set up a fake Duela for us to play with huh?.....hmm. New crackpot theory kiddies. What if Hush is J-Classic?
Also, enough with the waifus. I'm a harem man myself, but this is neither the game nor the genre for it. We get caught up breaking hearts, and we'll end up with more than just some hurt feelings and flesh wounds.....Punch and Judy. I get it now. We're the fucking puppet show.
>>43090437Wouldn't that be a hell of a thing. And romance, or in our case,-concern for people we'd probably take a bullet for, has always been a part of the genre. Most of the waifu moments are just "This is where I'm at, now anyway, on to trying not to die." from Brock I think.People tend to get real honest in their final moments and it seems like Brock has been on borrowed time for a while.
