>I’m NorthEasternDragon
>I’ll be your QM
>This is my first quest, hope you enjoy
>First couple of posts will be char gen, then set up.

You wake with a start, looking around your room. You run your hands down your face and take several slow breaths. You take a slow look around your room and take a couple moments to recall some details about yourself, along with what that annoying pain is.

What do you remember?

>You are Catherine Quinn, you’re seventeen, you live in an penthouse apartment in New York, and somehow your bones hurt.

>You are Nicholas Callahan, you’re eighteen, you live in a bungalow in Tipperary, and your throat is really sore.

>You are Pat Collins, you’re seventeen, you live in a small house in London, and all of your muscles hurt.

>You are Alex Gardener, you’re 19, you are in a padded room, and your head hurts. Your head always hurts.

Hey OP I highly recommend you get a trip and I wish you Good Luck.
>>
>>43124168
You look around your room, and take comfort in the fact that nothing’s missing. Living with a klepto brother has its downsides. The room you’ve had ever since you were born, with memorabilia from your past litter the room. The participation medal from the swimming contest your mum entered you in, a signed football, t-shirts from random summer holidays, and several rugby trophies.

You throw off the covers and get up, wandering over to your chest of drawers, managing to avoid the random objects littered across the floor on your way, and pulling out some clothes. You quickly get dressed and head into the bathroom before your sister can lock herself in there for an hour. You splash some water in your face to wake you up, then look at yourself in the mirror. You’re proud of the body you’ve built yourself. Between the gym and rugby training, you’re in pretty good shape. You smooth down your messy black hair and dry off your face.

You manage to exit the bathroom just as your sister barges past you and slams the door behind her.

What do you do next?

>Head downstairs, check if anyone else is awake.

>Quickly eat some breakfast and head out.

As your sister passed by, you manage to sneak in a small big before she manages to slam the door.

“Hey sis! When I tell you to grow, I mean grow up, not out!”

You quickly head down the stairs and, seeing no one else downstairs, quickly make some buttered toast. You finish off the toast and grab a jacket, heading out as quickly as you woke up. You head off down the road, hands in your pockets. You breathe out slowly, watching puffs of condensation float in front of you in the cold winter morning air.

You take in your surroundings, views you’ve seen constantly times throughout your life. The red brick houses, the occasional tree and bus, familiar faces of your neighbours and classmates.

You take your time, walking down your road, to decide where you should go. You’ve got nothing to do, and no one to meet up with until this afternoon, most of your friends won’t be awake for another hour or two.

Where do you go?

>The park. Maybe you’ll find something to do there.

>The shops. You could always go talk with some of the shopkeepers.

>The rugby pitch. Maybe you could get in a bit of extra practice before your match on Wednesday.

>The rugby pitch. Maybe you could get in a bit of extra practice before your match on Wednesday.
>>
>>43124998
You make your way down to the rugby pitch, deciding that you won’t let yourself fall behind in training. You take a spare set of clothes out of your locker in the changing rooms, and grab some training gear. You take a look around the pitch as you drag some gear onto the pitch. There are lots of memories here for you. Your first match here when you joined secondary school, winning competitions for your school, breaking your left arm after a particularly nasty tackle, most of the night of your sixteenth was spent here, getting drunk and laughing at your friends falling over and getting into fights.

You try to decide what to practice first, your coach always says that even an extra hour can make all the difference.

What do you decide on?

>Take a few laps, and try to get some stamina training done?

>Practice your tackles? You’re already strong, but technique can always help.

>Practice kicks and throws? Your aim isn’t the best and a bit of extra training could help.

You set up the ball in a small holder a good few metres back from the posts. You takes ten steps back, breathe in, breathe out, then run towards the ball, sending a kick at the ball.

When you pull your leg back, you feel a tight sensation throughout your muscles which suddenly releases when you kick the ball. The sheer force of your kick sends the ball soaring off into the distance and breaks the toes on your foot. You cry out in pain and collapse to the ground.

As you try to fight back the pain you remember something… Supers. That’s not their official name, but that’s what everyone calls them. Homo Superior to some, mutants to others, some people in this world gain super powers. These powers can manifest at any point throughout your life, from birth to the second before you die. The powers are never anything awesome like lasers, or flight, but more mundane stuff like super strength. But one trend through all powers is that they actively try to kill you when they first surface. One man with super strength shattered every bone in his body because he couldn’t figure out how to turn his powers off…

And that’s what you have to do now. Switch off your powers before you break anything else… But how?

>Link a d20 roll to this post. First three are the ones that count.

Well then... Looks like we're going for the big decision already.... Writing.
>>
>>43125821
You try to figure out how to turn your powers off. Your mind flashes back to the documentary you saw about Supers. Typical late night TV trash, but it had stories of how Supers managed to control their powers. Most said they could make a mental “Off-Switch”. You try this. You imagine in your head a large lever. Labelled at where the lever is currently pointed it “Super Strength” and at the bottom is “Regular me”. You imagine the lever flipping downwards…. Nothing happens. You don’t feel that “backwards rush” of energy they described. What was that other one…

You suddenly hear yells from quite a way off… They’re getting closer. You try to get up, but just end up smashing your hand into the ground, almost breaking it from the force of the impact. You cry out in pain again and fall back down onto your back. You try to control your breathing, and make your heart stop feeling like it was trying to escape your chest. Out of pure instinct, an instinct you didn’t even know you had, you tense your muscles and finally feel that backwards rush. Your muscles tighten, lock, then go back to normal, leaving you on the ground, breathing heavily. The voices are close by now. You can hear scattered speech.

“They…. here before us…. surrounded.”

New voices join in.

“Step away…. He’s ours…”

The voices are around you now, clearer. A man yanks you to your feet, supporting you, seeming to know that your foot is broken, and which it is. He looks down at you, his piercing blue eyes wide, and his white hair shaved almost bald. He speaks between breaths, sounding like he just ran a marathon.

“Listen kid…” He says, “Some guys are coming. Call themselves the Agency… They gather us Supers, try and keep ‘em under a leash. I’m with the Sons of Men… Probably never heard of us…. But we can help. Just come with me.”

You look behind you and see men in suits rushing over towards you, yelling.

“LET THE BOY GO!”

1/2
>>
>>43126062
The man starts trying to get you to move, but you’re locked in place. You have heard of the Sons of Men. They’re a group of vigilante Supers. They think that Supers are the newest and greatest step in human evolution and should be treated as such… They want to overthrow the current governments and rule the world for themselves.

What do you do?

>Let the guy take you off. Join the Sons of Men. [Path of Villainy]

>Try to struggle out of the man’s grip, try to get help from the Agency guys. [Path of Heroism]

>Struggle out of the man’s grip and run away. Fuck getting involved with either of these guys. [Path of Neutrality.]

>Good, evil, or neutral. It’s up to you guys now.
>>
>>43126075
>>Let the guy take you off. Join the Sons of Men

Normally i would go neutral in these kinda scenarios.
But i'll be damned, if i said i didn't wanna see how going evil would work out for once.
Now to hope we don't become a "Haha, i'll kill you and your family just because i can" kinda villean.

>>Struggle out of the man’s grip and run away. Fuck getting involved with either of these guys. [Path of Neutrality.]
CN Super hero? Might be fun.
>>
>>43126522
Agency or Sons of Men…. You make your choice. You look at the man and grit your teeth, preparing for the pain of walking like you currently… Wait. Your foot. It doesn’t hurt anymore. You hadn’t noticed with trying to turn off your powers. You speak up, just loud enough for the man to hear.

“I’ll go with you, just get me away from these suited nutjobs.”

The devil you know is better than the devil you don’t. You’ve never heard of the Agency, but you sure as hell know of the Sons of Men. And you know what, they’re right. We are better. We’re stronger, faster, smarter and everything in between. The current leaders have done a fine job ruining the planet, with super intelligent leaders we can easily do much better.

The man grins and helps you get going, but after that, the two of you start sprinting. The two men behind you yell for you to stop. You don’t. You keep running. Following just a few steps behind this man at all times. Following him to the Sons of Men. Following to your destiny…

>And we end here today.
>Feel free to give thoughts, questions, and suggestions. I’ll be sticking around to answer for the next while
>>

So we're buying into the propaganda just like that, just at the sight of them?
>>
>>43126751
Never mind we discovered our powers literally twenty seconds ago and can't really get a handle on what it means to be powered.
>>
>>43126712
Are there crits in this quest?

What would the other powers have been?
>>
>>43126770
>>43126751
While not exactly a gullible person, Patrick is the kind to fall for someone with a good enough sounding cause. He does like the idea of power, and a group which would give him more of it appeals to him.

>>43126775
There will be crits, yes. Crit fails too.
Catherine would have been Osteokinesis
Nicholas would have been fire breath
Alex would have been telepathy and telekinesis
>>
>>43126820
Are we going to see the other possible characters as NPCs along the way?
spandex when
>>
>>43126840
No matter the path, Alex will show up. You might meet Nicholas, and you probably won't meet Catherine
>>
>>43126712
Might be abit early to ask, but any idea of when you might continue this quest?
Just want a rough idea of when i should look out for it.
>>
One final thing in case no more questions are asked. I'll be running every saturday when I can, and I'll post in the /qtg/ an hour before it starts.
