Alright we have three people so lets start. We left them having come back from the Elder and going to the lake to meet one of Cedric's friends.

After parking the truck, he guided Ellie just a short bit towards a nice-looking cottage by the lake shore. There is a dock attached to the house, albeit there is no boat there at the moment. The house itself is built unto a solid stone foundation that stands about a foot or so over the ground, making it into a slightly elevated platform.

As they knock the door, Dan, a botanist and photographer friend of Cedric, comes to open the door. He is missing an arm but looks clean shaved and well groomed, with warm but robust looking clothes on him.

Cedric introduces him and Ellie to eachother, and Dan makes them go in and take a seat.

Inside, it looks like a warm and nice place, with few luxuries, mostly in the form of an elegant middle table that seems made of black crystal, a really nice couch. There is no television on the living room, but there are many pictures of exotic places.

"Yes, the amazon is a rain forest full of amazing creatures, most of them in the river itself. Since the water is so murky, however, it is hard to identify them unless you catch them first." -he is talking with Ellie about his journeys- "I have a lot of pictures and videos of strange fish I or someone else caught, if you want to see."

Since Ellie is a native from another world, both of them are quite interested in the stories about animals from their respective travels.

When they go to mexico or further south. I worked as a waiter on a summer restaurant one summer when i was 19, and seeing the USian tourists ignore my warnings about "these are not the chillis you are used to" was always dramatic. Mexican Chilli only has about 800 in the... uhmm i forgot the name of the scale that measures how hot food is... anyway, mexican is only 800 while chilean is about 12000 and bolivian (which is right next to us, so sometimes we get some of their chillis) is about 25000.

Trust me, the effects are dramatic

Friend asks why I only put part of one tiny chilli in a huge pot of soup. Jokingly tell him to just touch one of the chillis with his hand and find out. Completely slips my mind that our hands are scratched and cut up from digging a culvert. Oh God I'm so sorry why did I tell you to do that!

Ellie is quite interested in the forsts and jungles Dan has seen, but she knows enough now to understand that this world is quite big, and the more exotic and far off locations would be hard to reach on a cop salary.

She asks Dan about the forests and exotic places in the US, and he shows him pictures and videos of the mangroves, swamps, the grand cannyon and the likes, as well as the forests in the north.

"Well, we do have a fair amount of national parks, you know? I wonder if I should get some videos or if it would be better to surprise you? we could go sight-seeing on the summer." -says Cedric
"Ah, that sounds really nice." -Ellie nods, her ears all perked up
"Oh? that's rather cute" -Dan says while smiling
"Hey, don't embarrass her, that's my job, you know?"

Ellie just looks at them with an angry face as she blushes bright red, her ears all tense and pointing straight away to either side of her.

"Forgive me, madam, would you like a drink as a peace offering?" -says Dan kindly
"Ah... I don't really like drinking that much, and we just had dinner."
"Well, in that case, how about you just accept my heartfelt apology, please?"
"Alright, you are forgiven!" -she says with a smile of sattisfaction
"Oh, she really is so cute!"
"You are not forgive after all"
"Oh noes! I know, if you guys want to travel, I will be going to Keweenaw's, so how about you two come along? I only need to take some pictures so you can enjoy the scene. I have a rolling house we can use so it'll be quite comfortable."
"Oh! I've seen those! it makes me think of our old wagons, that sounds fun!"
"What do you think Cedric? your missus thinks it would be fun"

"Actually we promised the elders in her community to take them hunting"

After agreeing to the travel, we leave and go back home at last.

"Your friend was nice."
"Yeah, he's good people."
"How did he lose the arm? I didn't want to ask him"
"Dragon ate it."
"What!?"
"No, really" -he leans in for a quick little kiss- "Komodo dragon. Their bite has no poison but it has pretty much every disease on the planet at the same time. Can kill huge animals with a single bite. Any bite will do, just a scratch, and all it has to do is wait until they die of... something... everything? he was lucky it was just his arm."
"I didn't know there were dragons in this world."
"It's just a large lizard, but someone was feeling fancy when naming it."
"Still, sounds really nasty"
"I'm sure we can find a video or something if we look for it."
"A video of him losing his arm!?"
"No, no, of course not. A video of a komodo dragon."
"Ah, thats better, I got worried for a moment."

They finally make it home, feed Stella and play with her for a bit, then go upstairs to bed.

Next morning, Ellie and Cedric are running through the park with Stella, going out of the road and between the trees as the pic nic area is closer that way.

"Do you want some?" -Ellie offers a little bit of her ham sandwich to Stella.

Well, it's just a tiny bit, but, isn't bread bad for dogs?

The puppy is, of course, quite happy to be getting a treat from mommy.

Ellie picks up the puppy and cuddles it a lot. Well, that seems to be enough for it for now.

"Alright, let's go back, have a shower and go to work." -Ellie is still holding Stella up. Well, it's a small puppy still
"Sure, love" -Cedric kisses her softly, and they head back to the truck

Once they finally arrive at work and after greeting the sergeant, they get approached by a reporter in the parking lot.

Actually, how did he get here? the station's parking lot is not exactly a high security area, but regular folks shouldnt be able to just walk in, right?

"Excuse me, can I have some words? Im from the Sunny Herald" -he mentions a local newspaper
"Sir, this is not a public area, please talk with the sergeant if you have official business."

Ellie looks at us, and then to the reporter

"As my husband said, please talk to the sergeant first."

The man looks at us, then frowns a little, but nods and quietly leaves.

Later that morning, we get a call from the sergeant. Well, he's on the readio, really.

"Yes sergeant?" -Ellie answers
"You guys talked to a newspaper in the morning?"
"Not really, a journalist was waiting for us in the parking lot, but Cedric asked him to leave."
"Ah, that was the right thing to do, but he seems rather pissed and made somewhat of a scandal... could you guys talk with him at some point today?"
"Does it count as part of the work day?"
"Sure."
"Alright, when?"
"This evening would be alright?"

Cedric and Ellie look at eachother, and nod.

"It will be alright." -she tells the sergeant
"Alright" -the sergeant cuts off

"Do you think it was a huge scandal?"-Ellie says while looking at the radio
"The sergeant would have kicked him out if it was too big, must have been more of a 'calling the major' type of thing."
"I see."

That evening, they meet with the reporter in the coffee shop.
