Hello and welcome back to Mortal Kombat Konquest!

After a break for October, I am very glad to say that I have returned for the continuation of our story. Now we revisit Kaito, or as he is now known, Otiak, in his mission to save all of reality from an unknown threat.

>>
In a small demi-plane, a figure has trained and prepared himself for his new journey. His body is unlike his own, and as such he needed time to grow used to it and learn its new tricks. Under the watchful guidance of a mysterious figure, an agent of time, he has learned all he can learn in this place and must now venture to another reality--his own.

While he has been here, he has watched and observed troubling events in his home. Deaths of friends, powerful artifacts stolen, bonds broken and more. But he has also seen much that has given him hope; love between allies, friends performing great deeds of heroism and new allegiances forged. But he knows something that none of them know: all of reality is in danger.

His name is Otiak, though he was not always known by this name. Until he can stop the threat to all of reality, however, he must keep himself secret, for while he has made many allies, he has also made many enemies. The entity is also seeking him, for he represents the greatest threat to its plans.

Ryan, agent of Chronisis, checks his watch as Otiak trains. He steps off his rock and walks forward with his staff. "It's time."

Otiak turns to him and blinks his yellow eyes a few times before nodding silently. "I'm ready."

"For the sake of your home, I hope you are. The portal will be opening in just a few moments. This is the only one that will take you back. Once your task is complete, we can finish the rest and fix everything."

"Find the entity, destroy it, save all of reality, and get my body back," Otiak says. "Right, I got it."

"Remember that we won't be able to help you. We cannot make contact nor alter anything in your favor. Everything that happens from this point on is the actions of mortals, and not Elder Gods, Chronosis nor the Agents of Time will be able to interfere. You'll be on your own."

Otiak clenches his scaled fists and repeats, "I'm ready."

Ryan stares at him from beneath his expressionless mask before checking his watch again, his most common habbit. Nearby, a glowing portal opens, the swirling vortex manifesting in the blink of an eye from nothingness and growing large enough to encompass a man.

"Any idea where this will take me?" the saurian asks as he approaches it.

"A place you have never been. It is called Seido, the realm of Order. Watch out for the guards, for their laws are very strict."

"Alright... Here I go." He pauses at the portal before looking back to Ryan. "I'll see you again?"

"If all goes as planned, in your own body next time, yes," Ryan nods. "Good luck."

Otiak steps through the portal and finds himself thrown across realities, his body twisting and contorting in impossible ways. He closes his eyes, for there is too much to see around him; different places, people, timelines, worlds, events, possibilities--far too much to take in all at once.

When the strange and surreal transportation ends, the saurian finds himself falling through the opposite end of the portal and onto hard stone. He shakes his head and looks around, finding that he is on an impossible stone platform with a single bridge leading towards a massive collection of straight-edged buildings surrounded by floating platforms, connected by straight or perfectly rounded streets of floating stone.

The sky is filled with floating pyramids arranged in an orderly pattern. He can see perfect symmetry in almost everything around him, from the buildings to the layout of the platforms and bridges. Even the stars in the night sky appear to be arranged in a specific manner. Looking over the side of the stone platform he is on, he sees only a blue void of clouds far below.

He scans the city before him and sees perfectly-straight rows of trees and man-made rivers that flow straight and evenly, sometimes curving and other times angling at ninety degrees. "Seido... the realm of order," he says to himself. He's only heard of this place, but has never seen it.

The portal behind him closes, sealing off any and all outside intervention. Now it is up to him.

Otiak takes a moment to use one of his new abilities, a combination of his new saurian physiology and a little bit of sorcery, to disguise himself. He changes from his hooded reptilian form to a new, more human-looking one, that of a man in a green hooded robe that covers his body.

With this unassuming appearance, he walks down the long stone bridge towards the main city. He marvels at the fact that the bridges connecting the stone platforms are all unsupported by anything other than air, seemingly floating in this cloudy void. The realm of Order is a strange and interesting place just from looks alone.

As he enters the main city, he sees people, often dressed in rather fine clothing, if rather plain and boring looking, talking to each other. It does not take long to notice that everyone here talks in rather long sentences, well thought-out and measured in large words. Everyone is articulate, polite and waits for the other to finish speaking.

As Otiak listens, he accidentally bumps into a walking citizen.

"Pardon me," the saurian says.

"I must apologize as well. I cannot spend much time doing so, however, as I did not schedule any random conversations today. I must be on my way now, for I am already very nearly late. Have an acceptable day."

The man walks off in a very business-oriented fashion, leaving the slightly bewildered saurian behind. Strange people in this place...

He nears a large central town square, though it is more like a circle. There is a column of marching guards, each wearing immaculate matching uniforms of green and golden armor. There are few civilians present, though there does appear to be some kind of messenger walking through, carrying a small collection of parcels.

Otiak approaches one of the supervising guards and humbly asks for his attention. The guard turns to him and places his hands on his hips. "What is it, citizen? I cannot speak for long. We must adhere to the procedures of the drill and ceremony to the absolute letter or we will be reprimanded by my superior."

Otiak clears his throat and speaks in a disguised voice that sounds normal. "I will not take much of your time, but I am new to this place. I am wondering if you could tell me what the rules of this place are and what I could do to avoid accidentally breaking any laws."

"Our laws are simple and straight-forward. Do not cause trouble or hinder anyone else in any way. Do not lie, cheat, steal, attack or disrupt the daily flow of life. Do not instigate change or attempt to sow dissent amongst the people. Everyone here has a schedule and you would do well not to interrupt it. Our legal system is very thorough and is never wrong."

Otiak thinks about disputing that last point, but decides against it. "Thank you," he says, politely disengaging himself from the conversation.

Otiak stealthily travels into the library and is taken aback by the sheer size of the building. The walls and floors are all a uniform color of white marble and there is little to no decoration at all; everything is purely function over form. Row after row after row on over twenty floors of bookshelves full of books that look exactly alike.

The deliveryman gives his parcel to a blue-skinned woman with glasses sitting behind a reception desk.

I liked it myself. What's our cover story if we run into the others? My vote is on saying that we are one of Shang Tsung's experiment, for saurians, and the possible replacement for Reptile.
>>
>>43502003
>What's our cover story if we run into the others?
An attempt by Shang to transfer a sort of flash training in magical arts is my thinking. By the way, again, I think we should avoid the others until we know what were dealing with. Or maybe secretly sent a letter to Kitana or someone with some pull telling them something is up.

Wait, when did we vote shit? Did I miss something?
>>
>>43503355
End of last thread a month ago. It was kinda rushed.
>>
>>43503385
There was no voting at the end of last month. It was literally the epilogues, some discussion on the various forms and Damashi saying he was tempted to do Saurian because he found some pictures for it.
That does not a voting make.
>>
>>43503445
There wasn't a formal poll but I saw more posts for "lizard wizard" than I did for the other leading choice, soul construct.
>>
>>43503703
>There wasn't a formal poll
This is the problem. There should have been a formal poll, preferably final destination style. We don't know how many of those posts about saurian were made by the same people multiple times.
To go off that is insulting and rude since it pretty much screws people who wanted another option out of a fair chance to vote for their thing. It's also very dishonest, since Damashi said there would be a vote, and yet we got shoved into Saurian without any warning.
>>
>>43503703
I myself shifted my allegiance from the Soul Constuct, because it was a dead mummified body, and any damage it would suffer could only be healed with magic.
A living self-healing body sounded a safer choice.
>>
>>43503822
Well it's already happened, so you can complain and not change anything, or enjoy the story.
>>
>>43503841
That's bullshit and you know it.
The only way to change this shit is to complain about it. It favored you now, but when it's your ass getting screwed will you stick to your "It's already happened, shut up and enjoy the story."
>>
>>43503822
I don't particularly like the idea of a lizard wizard either but we're in it for now

not like it's our vessel forever, hopefully
>>
>>43503841
Leave him, he is probably the same guy who couldn't handle being outsmarted by Shinnok a month ago.
>>
>>43503943
I wouldn't have minded if it had won fairly, I'm more pissed about being screwed out of the chance to vote and forced into this shit.
>>
>>43504008
Because everyone who has a problem with something is the same person, right? Just like everyone who votes for an option you personally don't like is samefagging, right?
>>
>>43503892
What did you have your heart set on so bad anyway? Literally every option had a dumb flaw somewhere in the build or wouldn't make story sense, Best Kaito is his real human body which we're going to eventually get back.
>>
Sorry for the break. Back in the states and I have some more things to do. More coming in a bit, and I'll address the saurian issue then too, since I did promise a poll and people who are upset have a reason to be. I'll explain when I get back.
>>
>>43504101
>What did you have your heart set on so bad anyway?
At this point, it doesn't matter. Even if what I wanted would have or wouldn't have won, I would have liked a chance to vote for it, especially when we were promised a Poll.

Honestly I think that the fucking Strawpolls were rigged. Is there anyone here at all who wanted to play Noob Saibot? I'm not complaining, it was fun to play a bad guy for once, but when the quest started, there wasn't anyone present who voted for him, and he wasn't anywhere before the last day of voting
>>
>>43501670
>>C) Approach the woman and ask for help
She could point us in the right direction of whatever the entity could be.
>>
>>43504295
Actually, I did. I voted for Noob, Tremor and Rain in the Strawpolls, because I wanted to play the badguy.
But yeah, Strawpolls are too easy to game that's why I said Final Destination in here. It can be gamed, but it's much more difficult to do compared to Strawpoll.
>>
>>43504295
I voted for Noob...but those polls allowed you to check multiple boxes.

Alright, I'm back.

I primarily went with the saurian protagonist due to the positive reactions garnered by the artwork I posted for him, and because it seemed the most natural of the decisions we talked about due to Kaito's familiarity with the species from interactions with Khameleon and Reptile. While the soul construct option was interesting, I decided against it due to the fact that it didn't seem (to me, anyway) as natural or in-character a choice for Kaito to make. I admit that I took the choice away from the players in doing so, but once I had decided, I moved forward and prepared a lot of material for this new body.

One of the things I'm trying out is the new rules for combat, which include Enhanced Special Moves, Breakers and X-Rays. For the first of the three, I would need a set list of defined abilities and special moves and reference material for each, which I prepared during some of my downtime in October. Pic related, one of Kaito's new special moves in this body, the Rolling Snake Kick (blue guy is the one doing the move).

I decided, rather than start out the thread with a poll or votes, I would immediately continue the story with a defined choice, in this case the lizard wizard. I wanted to jump back into the story right away.

I've pulled some janky bullshit in the past but this is the last time I'll say there will be a vote/poll/discussion and then decide for the players, you've my absolute word on it.

I hope you understand where I'm coming from. I'm just glad to be home in the states and continuing the story. Writing the next part now.
>>

>I've pulled some janky bullshit in the past but this is the last time I'll say there will be a vote/poll/discussion and then decide for the players, you've my absolute word on it.
If it happens again, we better have absolute authority to call you out on it.
Honestly, if you didn't want to start a thread with the poll, you should have made a Pre-Thread with all the discussion and votes in it.

But again, it wasn't your position to decide just because you liked one or another since it locks out the players. I'm not a fan of saurian, but now I have to put up with it. It's the same if Soul Construct or Demi-God or something got voted over what you liked.

Especially since now there's another notch for people to call railroading whenever shit happens and we want to avoid those as much as possible.

Otiak approaches the woman behind the desk, thankful that there is no waiting line currently. "Pardon me," he begins.

She immediately puts a finger up to her lips and shushes him.

He lowers his voice. "Pardon me, but I am trying my best not to interrupt anyone's schedule. May I inquire where can I seek information?"

"You are in the right place," she says. "This is the Library of Order. It is a repository on knowledge from all corners of every realm known. You will respect the information contained within these halls and understand that everything in this library has a place and purpose. If you misplace a book or interfere with their placements on the shelves, you will be arrested."

"Right, of course, I would not seek to disrupt anything, I love order," Otiak says with a smile. She does not return it. He clears his throat and continues, "So, where might I find information on famous monsters and catastrophes? The kind that stretch across extra-dimensional boundaries."

"A most curious subject of study," she says. "Follow me."

She gets up and walks towards a nearby staircase. Seven floors up and eighteen rows down and three rows in, she stops, having not said another word since. "This section here contains several tombs on those who have threatened all of existence. Remember to put the books back when you are finished, or you will be punished."

"Thank you," he says to her as she departs. He turns his attention to the books, giving them a closer look.

Otiak curiously takes out a book and discovers the events within are strikingly up-to-date, even containing events that only happened in the last year.

"It's like a wiki, but in book form," he muses to himself as he flips through pages.

On recent extra-dimensional incursions, a number of strange incidents are noted, but little information about them is recorded or verified. The book even contains small notes that specify other books to cite for its sources, and specifies when there is no source to cite, only testimony, heresay and unverified theory.

"That wiki analogy is closer than I thought..." he chuckles.

As he turns the pages, he finds a few recent entries. "Now this is curious... Recently, more portals have been opening across the realms. The dimensional furies appear to be slightly out of balance, but this could be attributed to the recent incursion of Outworld into Earthrealm and may stabilize over time..."

He doubts that very much; if anything, things will only get worse. He reads on.

"The truth behind these portals is unknown, but strange figures have been reported as emerging from them. They do not linger for long, as they appear to shift in and out of reality, but they appear, for all intents and purposes, to be from alternate timelines."

Ryan told him that the entity intends to sow chaos through bringing people from alternate universes into this reality, eventually collapsing it from the turmoil it would generate. But so far, no clues can be found as to who or where this entity is.

Otiak places the book back.

There is a book here that exposits on many theories about the mysterious "One Being." It is said that this being is the original creator of the universe, and has set forth all of its rules, binding the Elder Gods to them. It is also said that the One Being is asleep, and that all of reality is but a dream. Were he ever to awaken, all of reality as it is known would be taken away in the blink of an eye. Or would it? None know for certain.

Little is known by the Gods, but not even the Elder Gods have a complete picture of the One Being. There is conjecture that the Elder Gods are the ones responsible for his sleep, perhaps to allow their own existence to continue. There is also theories that the powerful artifacts known as the Kamidogu are linked to the One Being--as is the amulet wieled by the fallen Elder God Shinnok.

Little fact about him exists, so the book is mostly theories. There are some specific passages, however.

He takes another book off the shelf. "Armageddon... Foreseen by the Lady Delia of Edenia, wife of the god Argus, Armageddon is said to be the end of all the realms. When the rules of Mortal Kombat no longer hold value, and warriors across all of the realms do battle, the very fabric of reality will be torn apart..."

He cannot help but wonder if that is what the entity hopes to acheive, only on a much larger scale. Battle between fighters not only from different realms, but timelines and realities all approaching one single cataclysm...

"Delia, the Lady of Flame, urged her husband to appeal to the Elder Gods. They conceded and the plans of Argus and Delia were carried out in secret. None know the truth behind their schemes, for both are now long dead, but it is known that before they were killed, their sons Taven and Daegon mysteriously vanished. It is not known what connects these events together, and one can only wonder what secrets lie buried with the realm of Edenia."

Perhaps Edenia is a good place to start looking. Otiak has seen events unfold there during his time in Ryan's demiplane, including his allies in Earthrealm's visit, a tournament of sport, Noob Saibot's freeing of the vile sorcerer Quan Chi and Mileena venturing with her sister and Jade to the Netherrealm...

He puts the book on Armageddon away.

"At the height of his conquest, with his victory nearly assured and all of his enemies defeated, Shao Kahn's adopted daughter Mileena turned upon him, and he was struck down by a strange and unknown warrior, who left as quickly as he appeared."

After a moment of thinking it over, Otiak places the book back onto the shelf. He sighs to himself, thinking that perhaps it would not be a very good idea to raise a fuss over this if he wants to keep his identity. Plus, this place would likely make him fill out forms and all manner of long-winded research sheets.

Otiak suddenly senses a presence nearby, a strange and unknown power. He turns, keeping his hood low, and sees a man approaching him. The man is dressed completely in black, from toe to neck, and he is rather old, but not frail and elderly. He has long grey hair of the Gandalf persuasion, but his face is more like Christopher Lee or Sean Connery.

Otiak suddenly realizes how much he misses movies.

"Is there something I can assist you with, hooded one?" the man asks as he approaches. The strange aura emanating from him is difficult to place; you aren't exactly sure what he is or what he can do.

>A) Speak to the man, ask him some things
Inquire about the nature of the current disturbances that involve the phenomenon of random portals. Claim that we try to locate the source, since we do not believe the half-done merger of Outworld and Earthrealm are the cause.
If he asks why do we think so, say that it doesn't match any other accounts of realms being merged.
Maybe ask about how can we acquire passage to other realms, so we may continue our research.

"I am investigating the recent occurrences of portals opening up across the realms. I do not believe that it is because of the recent invasion of Earthrealm by Outworld.”

“What makes you certain?” he asks as he stops near the disguised saurian. “And even if it is not, it could merely be dimensional turbulence, could it not?”

“Things don’t just suddenly start acting up and oddly for no reason,” he replies. “I believe that something is causing it to happen. The invasion of Earthrealm failed, everything should have been put right afterwards, but things are getting worse.”

The man nods and strokes his short beard. “I happen to agree with you,” he says. “The number of disturbances across my realm have begun to cause widespread change to daily routine. These instances were few and far between initially, but have become more frequent as of late. My people are beginning to become very confused.”

“Your people? Forgive me, I am new to Seido. Are you a leader here?”

He gives you a stern look. “I simply assume everyone in my realm already knows who I am. I am Abacus, God of Order, Protector of Seido.”

I'd love to ask him about Raiden, but we are not supposed to know him either. On one hand, I'd like to borrow some books, on the other hand I don't want to think what might happen if we would return it late.

Magic might be a good thing, but I am not sure how long we can stay in one place, and spend time studying. We need to close those portals before the DCU characters start to pour trough.I definitley don't want to tangle with Kratos either.

"As the god of Order, you must have some insight into the nature of these seemingly random portals. What can you tell me about them?"

"Traditionally, portals are stable placements, the results of magic and specific architecture designed to hold it. Such permanent portals are difficult and taxing to produce, so the most common variety are temporary portals created by those who can wield magic, such as sorcerers or wizards. Brief connections between reality are relatively easy to create and leave little mess. These portals, however, have no pattern, or at least one that I cannot yet determine. At first, I suspected the realm of Chaos and the work of my brother, but this does not seem to be his work, but if it is, he is hiding it well."

"Your brother?"

"The God of Chaos, Zaggot."

"You must have interesting family reunions," Otiak says with a chuckle.

"We do not have those."

No sense of humor, it seems.

Abacus continues, "These portals do not have the usual energy signatures of those that come from Chaosrealm, which means that they do not originate from them, nor are they created by one of its clerics. If there is some force that is guiding the creation and placement of these portals, its grand scheme is both wide in scale and seemingly impossible to predict when and where it will continue next. These portals have been appearing not only throughout my realm, but others as well... even Chaosrealm."

"And they don't seem to originate from any one realm in particular?"

"None that I know, and I know much that there is to be known."

"Have you met with the other gods on this?"

"No. The gods rarely meet with each other, for we are each focused solely on the protection and safety of our home realms."

"But if something threatens you all, then surely a meeting would be best, would it not?"

"You make a fine point. I will take it into consideration."

"Great... Say, I don't suppose you know where any of these stable portals are, do you?"

"You intend to leave Seido?"

"Your realm is lovely, but I need to continue my investigation elsewhere."

Thinking quickly, Otiak decides only to speak the truth. Just very selective truth.

"I bore witness to the invasion of Earthrealm firsthand. Afterwards, things seemed to be improving, but things didn't quite carry on the way they should have, strictly speaking. That's when the portals came up and began becoming a problem. Strange people emerging from them... someone needs to learn the what and the why."

Abacus nods and strokes his beard. "Very good. I commend such an effort; I believe these portals to be a problem, but cannot currently investigate the issue myself due to the riots taking place in my realm."

"Riots? And you're here, talking to me?"

"They are currently small enough to be dealt with my guardsmen, but numerous enough that I need to monitor the activity. These riots are primarily the result of interlopers from the realm of Chaos attempting to sow dissent and change amongst the populace."

"Sounds like a lot of trouble."

"Nothing we cannot handle at the moment. Though I am most troubled by the current movement of music amongst the upstart rabble."

"Music?"

"Yes, music. There is no music or dancing allowed in the realm of Order. There is no place for it in a regimented and structured society. The terrorists have recently begun attempting to bring music from other realms into my domain and I will not stand for it."

Otiak blinks a few times, thinking back to the legendary tales of Kevin Bacon and how similar they seem to the current situation in Orderrealm.

"Now, about your transportation out of the realms. I can assist you in this regard."

"Please do, Lord Abacus. I would very much appreciate it."

He leads Otiak out of the library, after assuring that no books are out of place, and down the street. As he passes, many people bow in respect, though they are all very quick about it--they have schedules to keep.

As you follow him, you suddenly notice a column of smoke in the distance along one of the floating platforms. There appears to be a riot going on, with people fighting against the Seidan guard.

"A small non-violent protest," Abacus explains.

"Non-violent? That doesn't look to non-violent to me!"

"They are not following the proper procedures for protest. As such, my guard are sent to arrest them. They often refuse to immediately and unquestioningly cooperate, meaning they are resisting arrest, adding to the list of crimes they have already committed."

Otiak is stricken by the underlying tone of absolute total control this place seems to get by on. It unsettles him quite profoundly.

Otiak leaves the protest out of his mind and continues to follow Abacus, but he still has a few questions in mind.

"Do you know who is ultimately responsible for these riots?"

"There are many small leaders. Chaos is not responsible for all of them, but they cause enough of them. Right now the head of my guard, a very responsible and capable man by the name of Hotaru, is personally set on capturing the rebel Darrius, a high-ranking leader in the resistance."

"Why do people resist order? I mean, whaat exactly about it do they find so opposing?"

Abacus stops and takes a look down at the grass. Otiak does the same, and for the first time notices that every blade is in a row and the same height and thickness.

"Order is a clock in which every gear moves with absolute precision. It is a tower in which every stone is perfectly set. Order means that every single thing has a purpose and a place; nothing wasted, nothing misused. Structured, organized, flawless. While mortals cannot acheive perfect order, they can strive towards it. There is no place in this realm for those who will not or can not. There are those who would resist the perfection of order, and they are dealt with. Deviation is not tolerted. The system has ways of weeding out those who do not truly believe in order."

Otiak keeps silent as Abacus continues, leaving the protest behind as the guards arrest the protesters. From here, they proceed towards a large building with a circular dome of stone. The guards out front stand at attention when Abacus passes by. Within this building is a glowing blue sphere that can be accessed by curving stone walkways.

"This will take you to a rather useful place, one that my soldiers and the residents of this realm use when our affairs extend to other realms."

"What is this place you speak of?"

"It is known as the Nexus, not quite a realm of its own, but one that has threads to most others. From the Nexus, one can travel to many other places."

"This sounds useful indeed," he says, looking at the blue portal sphere. "I wonder why I have never heard of it before."

"It is something of a well-kept secret, but most of the gods across the realms know of it and make use of it."

"Well, thank you for showing it to me," Otiak says with a bow. "I will now continue in my journey elsewhere."

"May you find order in all things," Abacus says with a slight nod before leaving.

Otiak approaches the blue sphere and enters it, finding himself whisked away to another place entirely. He steps out and onto a large stone platform floating in a void of clouds, around which are set many large pillars. In the center of it is an altar, and the circle is lined with circular portals, each of a different color and symbol.

"Like stargates," he muses to himself as he examines them. He sees one symbol he does recognize; that of the Edenian Kamidogu, placed over a portal of bright blue color.

There is also a yellow, purple, green and red portal, in addition to the one he entered this Nexus through. There are several more stone circles in which portals would be set, but they are all empty, devoid of active portals.

Otiak approaches the altar and examines it. It seems to be a place where one can set objects, though he is not sure what they may be. Symbols inscribed upon the plates of the half-circle altar seem to indicate that several items, once brought together, will cause something to happen, but he cannot discern what it may be. He runs his fingers along one of them, discovering the symbol to match that of the Edenian Kamidogu. Perhaps this altar is meant for the Kamidogu of various realms?

As he examines the altar, trying to discern its connection to the active and inactive portals, a figure suddenly appears from one of the portals. He is a man of some years, wearing the armor of a Chinese warrior. He sees Otiak and immediately puts up his fists.

"Halt! You trespass upon holy ground! Speak your name!"

Otiak holds up a hand. "I mean no offense. Holy ground?"

"I implore you to remain calm," Otiak says to the man. "I was brought here by Abacus, the God of Order, from Seido. I am only passing through."

"What is your journey, exactly?"

"I should not speak of it, but as the champion of the Elder Gods, this mission comes down from them directly."

Champion of the Elder Gods... if this is true, then perhaps he could be of great assistance in Otiak's mission. He shies away from the altar and considers his next question when suddenly a ball of fiery light bursts into existence in front of Shujinko. It then speaks with a strange, echoing voice.

"Shujinko, I sense a terrible power coming from this man. He may be attempting to deceive you."

The warrior suddenly looks at you again with suspicion. "I sense it more clearly now... he is a sorcerer, Shujinko! He is keeping his identity a secret!"

Otiak removes his hood and banishes his human disguise to reveal his saurian nature to Shujinko, who looks on with widened eyes. Otiak stands tall with his ornate cobra headdress and emerald regalia.

"I am Otiak," he says to the champion. "I am a sorcerer, this is true, but my purpose is noble. I am not your enemy. I concealed myself in Seido out of safety."

"You are a saurian, like the snake Reptile! I have dealt with your kind in Outworld. Whom do you serve? Kotal Kahn? Or some other nefarious conqueror?"

"Nefarious? I understand that Kotal is a very good leader."

"Looks can be deceiving!" Shujinko says. "I am sure you know this well, given your own slimy snake-like species. Your kind infests the Living Forest; you breed like vermin!"

Otiak blinks for a moment. This may be the first time he has experienced racism in this new body. Speciesism? Though that last part is interesting...

"I assure you, I stand only for myself and for the protection of the realms. My mission is to save them; what is yours?"

"I will not speak of my quest to you!"

"I have but one question," Otiak says as they slowly circle around each other. "This fireball you take order from--is he an Elder God?"

"No, he is an agent of them."

"So, you haven't actually spoken to any of the Elder Gods?"

"Well, no, but--"

"So you just believe whatever that fireball tells you, right?"

Shujinko hesitates for a moment when Damashi suddenly reappears. "Shujinko! He is casting a spell! Destroy him, quickly!"

He shakes his head. "I will do as you ask, Damashi!"

He charges forward as Damashi vanishes. He leaps atop the altar and then towards Otiak, opening up with a flying kick similar to Liu Kang's! Otiak has no choice but to defend himself now.

Otiak watches as Damashi vanishes. "What? No I'm not." He holds up his clawed fingers, but to no avail.

As Shujinko flies towards him in a kick, he sighs and says, "But now I am."

In a cloud of green mist, he vanishes into thin air, appearing behind Shujinko. He lashes out with the speed and precision of a python, stabbing his fingers into the back of the warrior's neck, enough to draw a small amount of blood. Shujinko launches a back kick, but Otiak leaps away, using a combination of hand movements and a command word to summon a cloud of confusing mist that slows the supposed champion down.

Otiak lands nearby and hisses slightly. "You should be just as distrustful towards other strangers as well, 'champion'."

He slinks towards the Edenian portal and leaps within before Shujinko can escape from the dulling effects of the fog.

Once on the other side, he wastes little time in obscuring himself amongst some nearby trees. Shujinko follows him, but loses sight of the stealthy saurian. The warrior mutters a curse before leaving.

With that out of the way, Otiak looks around at his surroundings. It is currently night in the beautiful realm of Edenia, and peaceful as can be. The lush landscape of mountains, valleys and plains stretches in all directions under a cloudless and starry moonlit sky.

The portal is located at a crossroads of white stone, each leading to a village in one of four directions, but beyond one of them he can see the royal family's palace, something he scried during his time in the demiplane.

Otiak waits in the trees to see if there are any else who would follow through the portal, and as it turns out, his intuition was spot-on.

The portal lights up as though someone else emerges, but he sees nobody. However, his heightened senses allow for much more than simple sight; smell and hearing are also a factor, and with his new body's skill in magic, he can sense other aspects of someone.

And right now, there is someone there, invisible. But there is more to it than simply that... There appears to be a kind of strange familiarity to this person that strikes Otiak.

He realizes that he smells one of his own kind.

>>43525236

If they followed us then they probably already have our scent from the Nexus.
>>
Otiak prepares to follow the scent, but after a few minutes, the figure leaves back through the portal.

'Reptile? Khameleon? Someone else?' he wonders to himself. 'I didn't sense them in the Nexus... But then again, I was dealing with that buffoon Shujinko at the time.'

From here, he adopts a new disguise, something a bit more flashy. While it may not seem wise to dress flashy in a disguise, here in Edenia, finery is commonplace. He learned this from watching Mileena and the others while he was away. His new disguise is still an obscuring robe, but now it is a fancier and nicer robe with a few more colors in order to blend in more with Edenia's populace.

Mileena... As he walks away from the tree, he thinks about her and some of his other friends that he's missed terribly. He'd like nothing more than to go to her and talk to her, especially after what happened during the final battle with Shao Kahn, but... perhaps it wouldn't be for the best, in this body anyway.

He realizes that he misses Turana as well. He'd like nothing more than to just wander and relax with his friends, fighting on his own terms and no one elses, but ever since this adventure began it seems like he's continually moved forward. He got some time between the tournaments and Shao Kahn's invasion to relax with his friends, but such time seems so fleeting now.

He promises to himself that, after this is over, he is going to take the time to truly enjoy each and every moment that he can, especially with the ones he cares about.

He looks around the roads and thinks about where to go next.

Otiak hears music coming from a village to the south and decides to investigate. The villages here are nice and the people are polite, and the vaguely-Asian architecture makes him feel slightly more at home. Coupled with the beautiful atmosphere of Edenia, it's hard not to find this place very relaxing. He actually wouldn't mind spending a lot of time here, were the fate of all reality not at stake.

There appears to be a celebration going on; perhaps a festival of sorts. People are dressed colorfully and small bands play edenian instruments. There is a nearby tavern of sorts that appears to be bustling with activity and the people are in high spirits.

Otiak grabs the attention of a passing villager. "Pardon me, but what is the celebration for?"

She regards him curiously. "Have you been travelling and lost track of time? It is the birthday of Princess Kitana! All of Edenia is celebrating tonight, especially at the palace!"

Otiak cracks a smile. "Oh, wonderful! Is she 10,001 now?"

The woman laughs and invites him to join in the festivities however he likes; all of the realm is sharing in the merriment for the evening.

As he enters the village proper, he scratches the back of his hood. It's strange, he almost forgot that Edenians aged--seeing as how Kitana is ten millenia old. How does someone exist that long and not go crazy? He puts the thought aside and wonders what to do next.

Otiak navigates himself over to the nearby tavern and slips inside, taking in the crowd. Many edenian villagers and off-duty guards are here, sharing spirits and drinks and singing songs. There is a beautiful woman dancing on top of a nearby bar, to the cheering of all. The overall mirth is infectious, though it does not stop him from noticing someone in the corner, partially obscured by shadow.

He is one of Asgaarth's kind, though he looks more like a raven. His left eye is blue and shines in the shaded corner in which he sits, but his other eye appears to be covered with fabric, perhaps due to injury. Before him is a half-empty glass; he appears to be drinking straight from the bottle. Needless to say, he is not engaging in any of the celebration on this night.

Otiak orders himself a drink, which is thankfully free due to the night of celebration. He tastes it and swishes it around his mouth; this new physiology is very different from what he is typically accustomed to. His taste is much more heightened than before, allowing him a much finer appreciation of the drink. Though it is somewhat too sweet for his liking, and perhaps a bit too fruity, it goes down well enough.

After taking a few moments to ensure that it does not react adversely with his new body's stomach, he considers going and talking to the raven. The birdman seems rather unsocial at the moment, disinterestedly drinking from the bottle in his hands and staring off into the distance.

Otiak walks over to the dark corner and has a seat across from the raven. "For a birthday celebration, you're awfully dour."

"I don't have many reasons to celebrate, but plenty to drink, so here I am," he replies in a deep voice, staring across the table at him with his one good eye.

"Care to share any of them?" he replies.

He looks around at all the people celebrating and leans forward a bit. "This celebration is all well and good, but with what I've learned, I can't find much cause for it."

"What have you learned? Is there danger?"

"The Netherrealm is amassing an army," he says, too drunk or apathetic to care about tact. "The royal family may appear to be celebrating, but they are preparing for war."

Otiak's eyes narrow. "War with the Netherrealm? How can you be sure?"

He points to his bad eye. "I saw it. The armies they are raising down in that bottomless pit of fire and death. I made it out, but not without this."

"What are you, exactly?"

"A scout. Or was, rather. Not too long ago, the Netherrealm attacked the royal family, infiltrated the palace. Asgaarth hand-picked me for a mission into the Netherrealm to gain information, and I saw what the army they are raising. Demons and undead and devils from every ring of hell are getting ready."

It's kinda hard to miss the palace.
>>
>>43529674
>>A) Ask him what he thinks their target is
>>C) How long ago did this happen?
>>E) Other
Adopt him to our crew.
>>
>>43529801
Not if this place is the even the size of New Jersey.
>>
>>43529937
From the portal we entered from, we could literally see the palace behind a nearby village.
>>
>>43529674
>B) Ask more about what happened on his mission
>C) How long ago did this happen?
>>
So is Kaito technically a demi-god like Rain? He is the descendant of Susano-Oh.
>>
>>43530358
He was a human through and through. Not that it matters right now.
>>
>>43530389
I was just curious about it, since we had Raiden's brother's power.
>>
>>43530507
Well the god is our distant ancestor, not our dad like in Rain's case.
>>
>>43530587
Weren't we some sort of reincarnation or something?
>>
>>43529674
>>C) How long ago did this happen?
>A) Ask him what he thinks their target is
>D) Ask him what the Royal Family is planning on doing
>>
>>43530685
no we just had our blood line unlocked
>>
>>43530685
Our soul is not his, he possessed us.
>>
>>43530685
Yeah like>>43530707 said, when Raiden defeated the Red Lightninng Man, his blood rained down upon the earth. People touched by the blood had the potential to have his power. Our dad had the potential but did not unlock it. We did
>>
>>43530707
>>43530735
Ah, right right
>>
>>43530781
>Our dad had the potential but did not unlock it. We did
Ironically, with Raiden's help.
>>
>>43530882
Raiden, only partially, unlocked our potential. I'd like to think that Kaito's father, if he hadn't been killed by Shang Tsung, would have help us unlock the regular lightning similar to what Raiden did.
>>
things to add to the list after we get our body and powers back (after making sure the red lighting cant body jack us again) punch raiden and yell at him for not really warning us what could happen
>>
>>43531090
After we're all "Raiden! Buddy! Good to see you! You look great! I'm glad you and Earthrealm are doing well! I've always considered you a good friend"
"On the other hand"
>Cue punch
"You incompetent! Needlessly cryptic asshole! Would 'Hey, don't over do the lightning powers too much. My one time rival that's fueled by rage and insanity might possess your body.' be THAT hard to say out loud?"
>>
>>43531259
Not just his rival, pretty sure it was his brother
>>
>>43531322
He was both things. They fought over the God of Thunder position.
>>
>Everyone KEEPS harping on 'getting the lightning back'
>Don't want to run the risk of getting possessed
>Like they don't get that the easiest way to avoid getting possessed or passing the Red Lightning's curse to our kids is just not getting it back in the first place and improving Kaito's other two abilities.
>>
>>43531322
LIQUID?
>>
>>43531340
You gotta face your fears sometime instead of hiding from 'em, chief.
>>
Can we not tell any of our friends about who we really are?
>>
>>43531340
I'd honestly rather stick with water and sorcery(if we can keep it) myself.
>>
>>43531368
That's part of the point. So that the eldritch invader doesn't find us out, we have to maintain the masquerade and keep a relatively low profile until we find them.
>>
>>43531368
The secret identity bit is 'cause the mystery villain is looking for Kaito.
>>
>>43531340
The best way to break the Red Lightning's Curse is to take it ourselves. We can't run and hide from it forever.
Honestly, I really think it is Kaito's destiny. We'll take the Lightning back, Master the fuck out of it, and bitchslap the spirit for possessing us in the first place.
>>
>>43531368
Like I said, I just don't want to get them involved until we understand whats happening and how to handle it. But I am open to giving them a heads up.
>>
>>43531430
We'll worry about that AFTER we Snake Fist Cthluhu in the face.
>>
>>43531430
And then pass it to our woefully unprepared kids with whoever regardless of heritage.
>>
>>43531476
That's why we either break the spirit and get rid of it, or train them.
Can't hide forever.
>>
>>
>>43531476
That's okay, our kids will likely be an assortment of bastard half-monsters anyway
>>
>Accidentally bloody fist she shit out of Rain for making whatever is likely the shittiest possible remark about Kaito to Otiak's face.
>Or if we find out about his plans for the royal family.
"We had the same teacher."
>>
>>43531528
We should impregnate a girl from every realm, and every species in outworld.
>>
>>43531528
I'm fond of those hypothetical half-monsters you, you, Shang Tsung.
>>
>>43531528
disregard women acquire godhood is my plan
not to mention their is that one edinean goddess thats out there they may give us godhood
>>
>>43531589
Could live with yourself if you prevented a Kaito version of Cassie Cage being born?
>>
>>43531578
I like them too, I'm just saying, sphinxes, Tarkatan clones, demons, humanoid lizards, vampires, and whatever else we're waifuing this week are all technically "monsters".
>>
>>43531589
Alternatively, theoretically 5 or 6 waifus (one of which is a horrifying embodiment of stagnation, rot and death.)
That are all technically the same waifu.
>>
>>43531642
Khameleon was mild interest, the only two that seemed to have left an impact on kaito are Turana and Mileena.

Also, we fucking saged the thread...
>>
>>43531626
could you picture Kaito as cassie cage's romantic intrest if we do get godhood
>>
>>43531642
At this point I feel like that would get a
>Shrug
"And you're a blond. What's your point about my friends?" response from Kaito.
>>
Will we be outed as Kaito if we continued our signature move of punching/kicking opponents in the balls?
>>
>>43531705
No, that's gross. On several levels
>>
>>43531735
People think so little of saurians I doubt it.

Also where's Damashi? c'mon man...
>>
>>43531735
Well it was already a ripoff of somebody else's move, but it would be harder to explain a Raptor being a Johnny Cage fanboy.
>>
>>43531735
Not if we just claim his dad taught us to fight.
>>
>>43531765
tell that to Taven's father he was like 10000 years old and married someone significantly younger then him
>>
>>43531705
Not the guyyou replied too but I can see kaito as Cassies really awesome bad influence uncle. Think of like a kung fu version of Rick and Morty, except comfier.
>>
>>43531700
I wouldn't say Kaito has a full romantic interest in Mileena. It was more the redemption angle than anything. "Make Mileena a good guy" was one of Kaito's long-term projects.
>>
>>43531820
>awesome bad influence uncle.
if anything where the good uncle her dad is Jonny i mean come on

also for now on im gonna try and get Kaito to call sonya a Ship thief every time he see's her
>>
>>43531831
She certainly doesn't see it that way.
>>
>>43531831
KaitoXMileena OTP
>>
>>43531895
Actually in the MKX comic, Johnny is actually a pretty good dad.
>>
>>43531931
>>43531895
Johnny's best dad.

Sonya on the other hand is a shit mom.
>>
>>43531831
>>43531899
Which, I remind you, ultimately paid off. She betrayed Shao Kahn at the crucial moment, she is now a full member of the Edenian royal family and earned Kitana and Jade's trust.

>>43531895
>>43531931
Actually, it's canon that Johnny was the good parent and Sonya was the reason for the divorce (she valued work more than family).

He might not either, he obviously cares for her rather a lot(which isn't to say more than others, but likely comparably and certainly not anywhere near a significant amount less.) Doesn't seem to mind her features any more than anyone else's outside of "those things can in fact rip my face off if she wants", and hell if they don't seem to do insane things for each other.
His being repeatedly trying to help her when she had no particular interest in being "saved", her's being turning on Shao Khan, particularly when she did. That was literally "Get Killed: Center Stage."
>>
rip damashi
>>
>>43531793
That would be interesting, say his dad traveled outworld or something before his participation (and death) in the mortal Kombat tournament and meet and taught us. That would also give us an excuse to be invested or interested in Katio as we "knew" his dad
>>
>>43533658
Not even. Say we're from earthrealm and learned sorcery primarily as a means to be left alone and prevent our own devolvement.
Which I believe is true.
No idea how we wound up there. It's where we grew up.
He's Kaito and his family were the only family we had.
>>
>>43533741
>He's
Ignore that.

"I also kept an eye on him when he travelled to...what's it. Outland?"
>>
>>43533741
>>43533784
To be fair Saurians are originally from Earthrealm, the had to flee to Zaterra to escape an extinction.
>>
>>43533821
Neither of the forms of Kaito knows that.
Otiak spent his life as a stranger in a stranger land before he met Mr. and Ms. Arayama.
>>
>>43533849
To be honest I think we should avoid association with Kaito.
>>
>>43533881
That's fair
>>
Dafuq happend here? Where is Damashi? Is the thread archived yet?
>>
>>43534532
Damashi has a habit of disappearing without warning. If it's not already archived, go ahead and do so.
>>
>>43531831
>It was more the redemption angle
I really fucking hate when people say that. It wasn't some hobby on Kaito's part to "redeem" femme fatale.
Did he fell head over heels for her? Certanly no.
Did he cared about her not becoming a weaponised pile of mistrust, and self-loathing, in Shao Kahn's service? Absolutley
>>
http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Mortal%20Kombat%20Konquest

Archived, but I forgot the fucking #, sigh
>>
>>43534555
Damashi used to disappear around seven till four or so, that indicated he was doing his regeneration process for six or so hours, or doing something else, and be back three hours top.
Now it's all messed up and we have no idea if he is dead or alive.
>>
>>43534787
Kim probably hunted him down. RIP
>>
>>43534866
>Damashi get's to return in another body, to hunt down Kim Jong, aka the Entity
>>
>>43534957
>Damashi's new body is a dinosaur man with magic named Masahid
