you have exposed yourself as the depraved wretch you are

it is a wonder that the weeds you choose to surround yourself with choose to suffer your presence

as much of a mystery as your choice in mates

or the rags you choose to sleep in when you use your own bed

"I hope there's still enough left for your mother and Allison..." Irene says, looking back into the kitchen where my father's decided to descend upon the remaining leftovers.
"They know how things go around here," I reply. "If they want anything then they'll come down here before he eats it all."
"That's kind of harsh," Irene laughs nervously. "Is it always like this?"
"Used to be before they moved," I shrug.

Considering how much my father eats, it's a wonder he doesn't weigh twice what he does now.

"I guess this means I'll be going out somewhere for lunch," Irene sighs. "Umm, do you think that maybe Theresa'll want to go if I asked?"
"Actually, uh..."

Yeah, we kind of have plans for this afternoon.

Might as well get it out of the way now so she doesn't ask for more details at an inconvenient time.

"Theresa wanted me to go check something out with her this afternoon," I say.
"She did?" Irene raises an eyebrow. "Well it's not like I really have anything else to be doing so I guess I could tag along if it's not too much trouble."
"Actually, uh..." I scratch my head, "...Charlotte's going to be there too and-"
"Oh."

Why do I feel like such a jerk right now? I didn't even do anything wrong.

"I guess it'd be best if I didn't try and tag along then," Irene sighs.

There's a decent chance that Charlotte's still asleep now so I guess I'll give her some time to wake up before I bug her about this.

"I think you know this already," Irene says, "but if you do happen to get in trouble again, I'll be more than happy to help you out however I can. It's the least I can do to pay you back for letting me stay here."
"Yeah, I know," I nod. "And on the off chance that something does happen, I'll be sure to let you know."
"Alright, that's all I ask," she replies with a warm smile.

She's staring to remind me of Allison with the way she's acting all worried about me...

"Oh yeah," Irene says, reaching into her mouth and taking hold of one of her way-too-sharp teeth. "I never did replace the one that I gave you last time..."

And with a sound closer to tearing fabric than anything, Irene yanks it right out of her mouth. Jesus Christ that's gruesome.

"Umm..." I watch Irene lick the remaining blood off of the tooth she so unceremoniously tore from her mouth, "...have you told Theresa about that?"
"Ehhhhhhhhhhhh..." Irene looks away from me with the guiltiest expression ever on her face. "...no?"

Ahahahahahaha of course she didn't.

"Don't you think that maybe you should?" I ask. "I mean, it traumatized the hell out of me when that ice chick killed you, you know? And considering that you're Theresa's -girlfriend-, I think she'd take it a lot harder than I did if something like that happens again."
"Yeah I know," Irene sighs. "It's just, she pinches the bridge of her nose, "...I generally try to keep that strictly on a need-to-know basis. You and Charlotte know because there was no hiding it after you... you know..."

After I killed her. Right.

"As it is, we've barely been going out for a week and I'd like to wait a while before I spring that on her," Irene says with a pained smile. "Since just up and going 'by the way I'm one of a collective of mes spread throughout the planet and this one grew out of your friend's backyard' is kind of a huge shock for most people."
"I guess so," I shrug.

She's definitely not wrong there.

"Even ignoring the fact that I try to keep that knowledge from as many people as I can," she continues, "when I've been in a relationship with people who find that out it always leads to me getting interrogated. 'How many of you are there,' 'do you have other boyfriends aside from me,' 'how can I be sure you're no cheating on me right now,' 'just how old are you really,'" she groans. I give Irene a quick once-over. She definitely looks like a (shapely) girl in her late teens to early twenties, but for all I know her appearance has nothing to do with her actual age.

"Umm, is something the matter?" Irene asks, noticing the way I'm eyeing her.
"I know that you just listed it as one of the questions that bugs you," I reply, "...but I can't help but be curious."
"About what exactly?" she says with a doubtful expression.
"Just how old -are- you?"

My question earns a long, pained groan from my green-haired friend.

"You know..." she says, placing a hand on her forehead.
"Like I said," I shrug, "I'm curious. And if you're that against telling me, I'm just gonna assume you're thousands of years old and start imagining you running around grumpy-looking Greek philosophers."
"What in the-"

Irene goes silent when she sees that I've provided visual representation of what I just described. And I have to say, she looks pretty good in a toga.

"C- c'mon, Cecile!" Irene groans while trying desperately to shoo away her sexy toga-clad image. "Do you really want ot explain to your parents why there's a hologram of your bizarre opinion of me if they happen to walk in here?"

Crap, she has a good point there. Quickly, I release my hologram in favor of a handy petite-sized version that's able to fit on my hand like that one bit from Star Wars.

"Seriously?" Irene droops down the entire upper half of her body.
"Yup," I nod. "Inquiring minds want to know."

Irene tries to hold off until the silly dance I'm having pocket toga hologram Irene finally breaks her down.

"Ugh, FINE," she groans. "I was born in the 20th century, the same as you. That's all you're getting."

They don't trust Irene like that, and having a bunch of her running around kind of ruins whatever surprise-type advantages that her Branch gives.

Also they're screwed if someone successfully mindcontrols her in such a situation.

"Twentieth century, huh," I nod. "Okay, that's fair."

In accordance with the new information that I've just been given, I switch my Irene hologram's manner of dress to that of a '20s flapper girl.

"I have never worn anything like that ever," Irene mumbles.
"But you look so nice in it!" I reply with a wide grin.

Irene may not give me the same reactions that Theresa does when I'm teasing her but it's still fun all the same.

"Met anyone famous during your long, long lifetime?" I ask, half-teasing and half-serious.
"I've stood in the same room as a few different Popes before and that's about it," Irene replies. "I've never had much of an interest in celebrities."

With no more Irene to bother (and bugging my father while he eats isn't exactly the smartest thing to do), I head up to my room and close the door behind me. After I locate where I tossed the gym clothes I use for my morning hell sessions, I place them on my bed and walk over to the windowsill where my plants are.

Breathing a sigh of relief that they're doing as well as ever (though I really ought to change the pots of everything but the cactus), I bring out my watering can and take care of that particular morning task.

As a result of skills honed through years of gym class, it takes maybe a minute tops to throw off the oversized pajama shirt that I was wearing and slip on my gym clothes. And after making one last check of my personal appearance, I make my way downstairs with my heart filled with dread at my impending suffering.

Instead of going to watch TV or whatever, I head straight out the door and sit down on one of the chairs we have on our porch. I have no intention of dragging this out any more than I already have so I'll just meet Theresa whenever the heck she decides to show up.

While relaxing, I look up at the huge trees that line our street. Normally, Loki would be up there keeping an eye on me since Charlotte's paranoid but he's still unable to fly for the time bring... poor guy.

At least I know he's happy to be able to bug Charlotte again, what with finally having someone around who he can properly communicate with. While I try to play with them as best I can, both him and Milla have a TON of energy which usually ended up getting channeled into breaking the furniture or tearing up the upholstery while me and Gabrielle were looking after the suite.

Not to mention the accidents. I never want to have to deal with that again.

>[1/?]
>>
>>43573320

>>
>>43573320

In an attempt to take my mind off those decidedly unpleasant memories, I return to the type of Branch-enhanced goofing off that I devised back when I was messing with Irene earlier. Focusing on the area of the chair next to me since no passers-by can actually see me messing around with holograms, I call back up the image of Irene in a toga.

"Yup, just as hot as before."

After having her twirl around, I switch her outfit to the flapper dress. And then a fancy ballgown. And then just for the hell of it, I materialize a hologram of Charlotte's tiny adorable "natural" self in the same dress. And then, of course, I have them dance around.

This is actually kind of fun.

"Killing time," I reply.

"Irene's taking a shower right now, in case you were hoping to see her before we go," I say.

My tiny Irene image flickers back onto the chair... but she's wearing nothing but a towel.

"W- what the hell-" Theresa's face immediately turns beet-red.

I am kind enough to refrain from informing her that this image was formed straight from first-hand experiences.

"Oh, but she might be getting out around now so you -might- be able to pop in and say hi," I say while materializing a tiny Theresa to go with the tiny Irene.

And then of course I make them kiss, eliciting a muffled yell from my good friend Theresa.

"C- cut it out with the weird shit, dammit!" Theresa blurts out.
"What, you're not interested in seeing Irene in a towel?" I ask, shrugging innocently.

I suddenly find myself yanked from the chair and onto my feet by Theresa, who then proceeds to drag me out to the sidewalk.

"Let's go," Theresa says, glaring at me. "And don't think that your whining's gonna make me go easy on you, especially TODAY."

I seem to have set her off.

One block in, I'm actually feeling kind of alright. But by the second, the fatigue's set in full-force and I find myself reeeeally wanting to stop. Not even the allure of my good friend's shapely posterior is enough to take my mind off the burning feeling in my lungs.

"Don't think that this is it, Cecile!" Theresa calls out while looking over her shoulder at the miserable wreck that I must look like right now.
"Almost there..." I wheeze.

Three driveways left. Two. One.

But just as I'm about to declare my victory over my body's weakness, Theresa CROSSES THE FREAKING STREET and starts back to jogging!

"W..." I wheeze. "What the hell, Theresa!?"
"You're gonna run four blocks today," she replies. "Now MOVE!" she says in her best impression of a drill instructor.

But I can't even appreciate how hot she is or isn't at the moment because it feels like my entire body is about to fall apart.

>If we'd played drastically differently form the start, would we've been able to get along with Over-chan?
Nope, it's an asshole that never wanted to be friends from the start.

>>43573625
>If you know things are slow why don't you timeskip us to something interesting?
That's the plan.

>>43573637
>Did it get answered already if physical stamina translates into magical stamina?
Nope, stamina when it comes to Cecile's light stuff correlated with her mental stamina.

>>43573641
>Cecile's score in Athletics skill is clearly abysmal. Will she ever git gud?
She's demonstrably better than she was at the beginning of the quest.

>>43573654
>When CC grows up will she find gainful employement in special effects?
That would require her to be open about her ability and that's extremely doubtful.
She has the potential to be really good at it, though.

>>43573659
>In fact, what does CC want to become when she grows up? Besides casual.
Prior to the quest's start, she didn't have much of a specific goal in that regard.
Currently she's leaning towards "Charlotte's housewife."

>Who is best idoru and why is it you?
I am no idoru.

And now I pass the hell out. Thanks for playing!

In case you're still around, do you have an eta for the next Carina chapter?

God damn it CC. You talk to your wife's dad and get him to give you a proper job.

Sometime within the next few days. The primary reason why I'm not running again until next week is so that I'll finally have the time to get to finishing that off.

We really need to tell Irene that we may be dealing with Over-chan permanently soon.
